GABBY DOUGLAS IS Is A 2012 WOMAN OF THE YEAR!

Gabrielle Douglas remains America's Sweetheart as she's still covering magazines and little girls dressed as her for Halloween.  So it's no surprise she's been named as one of ESSENCE's 2012 Women of The Year...and is their December 2012 cover girl.

In the issue, Gabby reveals:

 “In my dreams I didn’t think about how many shows I would be on and how many people would tweet me…it’s so cool!”

The cover story also explores what life has been like for the 16-year-old after making Olympic history — and why she continues to steal  hearts.

And there's also a second cover featuring the ladies who took over the Track game at the 2012 Olympic games.  Carmelita Jeter, Sanya Richards-Ross & Allyson Felix all were featured with Gabby for the alternate cover.

HOORAY! ‘The Best Man’ Sequel Set For 2013 Release

Fourteen years after the black hit film The Best Man was released in theaters, Universal Studios has announced a release date for its sequel; November 15, 2013.

The studios reportedly had already given the film’s director Malcolm D. Lee the green light a year ago but no other information had been release until now.

No other casting news has been released either but word is that the film will reprise the original cast, which includes Taye Diggs, Nia Long, Terrence Howard, Morris Chestnut, Sanaa Lathan, Monica Calhoun, Melissa De Sousa, and Harold Perrineau.

Lee held a reunion cast dinner recently which sparked rumors of the sequel, but no word yet on which members of the 1999 film’s cast will appear in the new film.

Friends & Family Attend Natina Reed’s Funeral

Yesterday the late rapper Natina Reed of Blaque funeral service was held in Lithonia, Georgia at the Abundant Life Church which was attended by family, friends and fans.  Reed passed away after being struck by a vehicle in Gwinnet County, Georgia. Details on her passing are still skimpy as police continue to investigate.

 

Rollingout was on hand for the service and noticed a packed out crowd of the bereaved for the fallen singer.

Attendees included the late songstress’ baby’s father Kurupt of ‘Tha Dogg Pound’ fame as well as her bandmates Shamari DeVoe and Brandi Williams.

Toni Braxton and Friends RAISE CASH For LUPUS

Lupus LA marked the 10-year anniversary of the Hollywood Bag Ladies Luncheon at the Beverly Wilshire Hotel. The sold-out event was attended by some of the most charitable "bag ladies" in the country including LisaRaye, Kellita Smith (new "The First Family" star) and Essence Atkins.

R&B legend Toni Braxton was among the attendees, looking amazing in this orange Tom Ford bsck zipper dress, and was honored along with other past recipients of the “Woman of Achievement” Award.

The R&B chick was supported by her family and fellow "Braxton Family Values" stars Traci Braxton, Evelyn Braxton and Trina Braxton.

 

Great look for her.

Legendary actress and upcoming "The First Family" sitcom star Marla Gibbs showed that good black don't crack as she went down the blue carpet.

LisaRaye rocked her white pants and a black and white sequined top to the luncheon.  She's been pushing the

Transforming My Body" diet & exercise plan and clearly it's paying off.

Actress Essence Atkins also stepped out in a white cocktail dress.

Emmy-winning actress Jackee Harry (who appears on "The First Family" with Marla) flashed her pearly whites for the cameras.

Marla and Jackee had a "227" reunion and posed with executive producer Carolyn Folks.

During the luncheon, the ladies were treated to a fashion show by designer Kevan Hall who has dressed FLOTUS Michelle Obama and plenty of celebrity gals.

Atlanta Mayor Kasim Reed Sues Lipstick Alley ??

Kasim Reed has sparked outrage and more attention to his alleged “man whore ways” and is suing a gossip forum called Lipstick Alley. I don’t even know where to begin, LSA is a public forum where people are allowed to say what they want. What attorney thought is was smart to attack a whole bunch of “gossiping” women??? Anyway check out some of the links to the stories and it seems some of these sites absolutely despise  Kasim Reed

According to BarbDwyers reports

Apparently when Kasim Reed’s most intimate choices were thrust onto an obscure web page frequented by African-American women, it was time for Reed’s legal team to jump into action.  Ironically, their acts brought more, not less, attention to the lasciviousness reported by the women.

According to a story reported later by Atlanta Journal-Constitution, Kasim Reed may be headed to court to defend the privacy of his sexual proclivities.

Reed’s legal efforts seem to be focused on claims made about his sexual relations with specific city employees and  certain posts about his preferences for what could be called sexual acts of a non-traditional sort.

Efforts to quiet web discussions seem to have produced unwanted attention and exposed a major political vulnerability of Reed’s.

Reed’s legal team does not seem to dispute web posts that had Reed placing former sexual partners on the city payroll.

“Basketball Wives” star Evelyn Lozada has signed on to endorse an organic and caffeine free energy shot called youthH20. Our sources say Lozada is also close to signing on to create her own brand of workout videos as well as a deal to become the face of a workout equipment company.

We’re told she knows “Wives” won’t last forever and wants to create a workout empire a la Jane Fonda — who made millions on workout books and tapes.

Nicki Minaj is Mariah Carey On Her "My Truth" Reality Series, Says She "MET HER MATCH"

I told you previously about Nicki Minaj landing a reality series on E!, and now the network has aired “Nicki Minaj: My Truth”  last Sunday.

The three-part series offers an unscripted behind-the-scenes look at Nicki building her pink empire which includes music, fragrances, and her role on "American Idol."  When ask about her rival Mariah Carey, she said, "I think that Mariah met her match this time, and I don’t think she was expecting to meet her match.”.

Sometimes I think this chick is a little NUTS!
