#BULLYING: Abel Cedeno Speaks Out After Murdering His Alleged Bully over Homophobic Taunts!

Abel Cedeno Speaks Out After Murdering His Alleged Bully!
Abel Cedeno, the student who fatally stabbed his alleged bully in class on Wednesday, is remorseful and says he “just snapped.”
The 18-year-old spoke with New York Daily News from Rikers Island, where he is currently being held without bail and is on suicide watch.
“I guess I just snapped. I didn’t mean to kill him,” he confessed.

Via NY Daily News:Cedeno, speaking Friday at the jail where he was held without bail and under a suicide watch, insisted he was the victim of anti-gay bullying long before lashing out at Matthew McRee, 15, and Ariane Laboy, 16.Abel Cedeno - Matthew McCree

“They bully me because I’m different,” said Cedeno, 18, who was charged with murder in the Wednesday morning attack inside a Bronx high school classroom. “I’m not like the other guys. My voice is higher.”
The soft-spoken suspect conversed in an emotionless tone about the verbal and occasionally physical abuse inflicted on him since middle school over his sexuality.
Fellow students slurred him as a “f—-t,” while angrier classmates slammed Cedeno into hallway lockers, he said.

Family friends claim Cedeno was the target of ethnic and anti-gay slurs since the school year began three weeks ago. But police said neither of the youths stabbed Wednesday had any prior beef with Cedeno.
“I will hold their memory in my heart,” Cedeno said of McRee, who died shortly after the stabbing, and Laboy, who remained hospitalized.
Cedeno, who identifies as bisexual, wore a gray jumpsuit as he answered questions about the first slaying inside a city school since 1993.
At one point, he removed his glasses and wiped at his eyes.

The accused killer said he was unsure if the stabbing incident really happened after he walked into the school principal’s office and surrendered the knife.
“I was having a panic attack,” he said.
Cedeno, who brought the switchblade online about two weeks prior to the bloody school stabbing spree, insisted that he made the purchase “to protect myself.”
He was arrested after stabbing McRee and Laboy during a history class at the Urban Assembly School for Wildlife Conservation in East Tremont, cops said.
Cedeno recounted a somewhat rootless life, bouncing between homes and a shelter in Queens and the Bronx and attending at least seven different schools over the years.

This was his fifth year at the “Zoo School,” where he was repeating the 12th grade.
Though classes only started on Sept. 7, Cedeno estimated he had already missed 10 days. His father is also battling lung cancer, and his mom remains trapped in Puerto Rico by Hurricane Maria.

So very sad.

SADNESS: Another Gay Teen Commits Suicide over BULLYING!

Long Island Teen Commits Suicide After Possible Anti-Gay Bullying!
After the recent suicide of David Hernandez, a 16-year-old junior in Long Island, New York, questions are being asked if his sexuality—and bullying he received because of it—was a factor in his taking his life.
Hernandez was discovered dead in home on September 29.  According to the East Hampton Press, “Rumors that he had been bullied at school for being gay have been circulating on the internet, but they have not been confirmed [and] his family declined to comment this week through a friend of the family.”
Hernandez had attended meetings of the East Hampton High School’s Gay-Straight Alliance, including one just days before his death. East Hampton School Superintendent Richard Burns said his department will “continue our thorough evaluation of this sad and complex situation,” but has refused to discuss allegations of homophobia or bullying.

David Kilmnick, CEO of the Long Island Gay and Lesbian Youth Network, said his organization was working to create a community center in South Fork where LGBT ?students and their families and friends would feel safe. He explained that its often rougher outside of school, especially for members of the area’s Hispanic immigrant community, which make up 40% of the school district. “They don’t have the support system outside of school…  In churches, which is often an important part of the Latino culture and of their family life, there is not a lot of good things said about gay people and little or no standing on the side of equality.”
According to Kilmnick, the East Hampton School District is further along than most as when it comes to reaching out to LGBT students: It was the first in the region to have a GSA in a middle school and has been eager to adopt policies enforcing tolerance and respect.  “I know some are quick to blame the school district here,” he said “but East Hampton is certainly one of the more progressive ones in addressing these issues and in preventative work.”

Hernandez’s death is still under investigation, but with both his parents and administrators seemingly disinclined to address his sexuality, it’s not clear if we’ll ever have an answer as to why he took his life.  But, as Kilmnick say, “regardless of whether David was gay or not, he should have had a place he could have seen as a lifesaver.”
THIS MUST STOP!

Former Coach Says Gabby Douglass Lied About Racism & Being Bullied
It didn’t take long for negative press to surface after Gabby Douglas’ interview with Oprah Winfrey aired. During her ‘Next Own’ interview, Gabby suggested that while training at Excalibur Gymnastics (her former gym) in Virginia Beach, she experienced racism. Specifically, Gabby said that a teammate demanded her to do something because she was their ‘slave’. Gabby told Oprah:
‘I definitely felt isolated. I felt, ‘Why do I deserve this? Is it because I’m black?’
Here’s a clip of Gabby sharing that she felt bullied:
Her former coach Dena Walker responded to Gabby’s remarks, telling a Hampton Roads news outlet:
‘Really, I was shocked and very hurt.’
One of Gabby’s former team members, Randy Stageburg spoke with GymNewstics.com, denying Gabby’s experience.
‘This is absolutely ridiculous, Gabby was never a victim, in fact many would say she was one of the favorites. I am not saying that she never felt bullied because when you are in a sport with a bunch of girls it is bound to happen. However, anything that she may have felt was never about race and I can assure you everyone at some point has felt bullied. I watched Dena open her home to Gabby, feeding her, taking her to gym, and allowing her to stay over her house whenever Gabby wanted to…”
Even the CEO (Gustavo Moure) expressed his resentment towards what Gabby told Oprah and the rest of the world. He explained:
I wish to defend the children that trained with her and supported her when she attacks them with these allegations. Is Gabrielle a credible person just because she is an Olympic champion? She is not giving any names or dates, leading us to believe that the accusation is fake. Gabby’s remarks were hurtful and without merit. We’ve had more African-Americans in elite and on the national team than any other gym in the country.
What are your thoughts on their comments, disputing Gabby’s experience? Could Gabby have innocently exaggerated her experience or do you believe her claims that she was treated unfairly? I personally believe her!

Bullying Victim Jamey Rodemeyer is remembered by Family & Friends!

Family and Friends come together to remember Jamey Rodemeyer. Also GaGa dedicated a song to him!
Tragic: Jamey Rodemeyer, 14, had blogged about being suicidal after classmates incessantly taunted him for being gay
Lady Gaga has sung a tribute to a gay 14-year-old boy who sent her a thank you message before taking his own life after he became the target of bullying.
The singer dedicated her iHeartRadio Music Festival performance of 'Hair' to Jamey Rodemeyer, from Buffalo, New York, after he was yesterday buried by his family.
'I just wanted to take a moment because we lost a little monster this week,' said Lady Gaga in Las Vegas.

'Jamey, I know you're looking down on use and you're not a victim, you're a lesson to all of us.'
The 14-year-old was a big fan of the singer and sent her a message on Twitter saying 'Bye mother monster, thank you for all you have done, paws up forever,' before he killed himself.
More than 500 people gathered yesterday for the funeral of the teenager who was bullied both at school and online.
Complete strangers were among the mourners who turned out yesterday to support the Rodemeyer family at the service at Saints Peter and Paul Church.

Fellow students drove past the church with trucks and buses covered with signs showing messages of tolerance.
Jamey Rodemeyer regularly posted about being bullied at school and how people would launch gay insults at him.

But what was worse for Jamey, was that when he wrote of his pain and frustrations and cried for help in his blog postings, students at his school started to bully him online.
About 12 months ago on his Formspring account - which permits anonymous posts - other students started making gay references towards him.

'JAMIE IS STUPID, GAY, FAT ANND UGLY. HE MUST DIE!' read one post.

Another read: 'I wouldn't care if you died. No one would. So just do it :) It would make everyone WAY more happier!'

In memory: Friends of the teenager drove past the church with messages of tolerance
On September 9, Jamey wrote on his Tumblr site: 'I always say how bullied I am, but no one listens. What do I have to do so people will listen to me?'
The day before he wrote: 'No one in my school cares about preventing suicide, while you're the ones calling me [gay slur] and tearing me down.'
He put up a separate post that day letting everyone know it was National Suicide Prevention Week.
But still no one listened.
Last Saturday night he posted a lyric from Lady Gaga's song The Queen on his Facebook page which said: 'Don't forget me when I come crying to heaven's door.'
Warning: Jamey's Facebook post citing Lady Gaga lyrics
On 1.30am on Sunday morning, he left two final messages on one of his blogs saying he was looking forward to seeing his great grandmother, who recently died, and one as a tribute to Lady Gaga, thanking her.
His mother Tracy Rodemeyer , told Buffalo News: 'He touched so many hearts, so many people. I didn't realize how many people he touched.

'He was the sweetest, kindest kid you'd ever know. He would give all his heart to you before he gave any to himself.'

She said that her son had been questioning his sexuality over the last year and that his fellow students picked up on it and used it to taunt and bully him.
Friends of the 14-year-old reported the message posts to the school guidance counsellors, she said, but by then it may already have been too late.
'He was totally against bullying. He has had issues since fifth grade. He had suicidal tendencies back then,' she told Buffalo News.
She said she tried to talk to him on numerous occasions and asked him to talk to her about what was wrong, but he assured her that he was OK.
The weekend before he died, his family went to a camping spot they would frequently go to and his mother said he seemed really happy.

Mrs Rodemeyer said: 'He used to cry about the taunts from his peers but they didn't seem to phase him this time. Lately, he's been blowing them off, or at least we thought he was.'
Gathering: Jamey Rodemeyer blogged about being suicidal before committing suicide
Jamey was a new student at Williamsville North High School and the student known to have committed suicide there since 2010. Joe Chearmonte, a junior honor student, died in February of last year.
Fan: Jamey loved Lady Gaga and left a thank you to her as one of his last postings before he died
