1. Can you tell us about your musical journey and how you got started in the industry?
I’m originally from New Orleans, LA, and was raised in Oakland, CA. I claim both cities because they helped groom my musical journey. I’m from NOLABAY. (Laughing) In New Orleans, my mother had a local band, and my stepfather played drums in her band. I would watch them rehearse and record in our home. When I heard the playback of my mother’s voice after recording, that was when I knew I wanted to be a recording artist. Seeing my mother perform and lead her band was just like the first time the world saw Michael Jackson moonwalk on the Motown Special. All this inspired and influenced me to become the artist I am today. My mother ended her career as a singer to take care of her family when we moved to Oakland, California, for a better job.
It wasn’t until my college days that my career as a local artist began to take off. I started my own band, and word of mouth about my performances began to build my name throughout the Bay Area. I would wait tables, be a singing waitress, work at a record store, perform in local nightclubs, and be an understudy in theatre to help pay the bills. Until I didn’t need theatre anymore, and I used all my favors and two credit cards to pay for my first recording. I interned at a studio to complete my first project, “Soulsinger.” Here we are now, on my 12th recording, "Good Life," and now a Grammy Award Winning Artist.
2. What inspires you when writing songs and creating music?
Life inspires me to write my songs—my life, someone else’s life, and the life that’s happening around me. I enjoy living my human experience. I love being emotional, intimate and talking about the world through music and other forms of my art. It’s a blessing to be able to express life through music and artistry.
3. What do you hope listeners take away from your music?
I want people to see themselves in my music. Becoming the soundtrack to someone’s life is a huge compliment. I hope that continues to happen. I hope my listeners feel understood, seen, and not alienated.
4. How do you see the connection between your music and your personal style or fashion choices?
I am a chameleon in my music as well as my style. I dress according to my mood and according to the moment I wish to express my art. It took a while for me to understand that I can actually visually express myself through my hair, my clothing, and my make-up. All of it is an external expression of me, just being myself. It took time to dissect who I am in this voice through personal style. Some days, I am simple, classic, and old black Hollywood. On other days, I am over the top theatrical, gothic, wearing Adidas, or in head wraps and kimonos being earthy. It all depends on my mood and the moment. My music is also unpredictable. I am known for being an R&B Vocalist. But as an artist, I have studied classical, sing jazz and I love singing in different languages. I have expanded in my personal style over the years. What’s funny is that I started singing in nightclubs in blue jeans, graphic tees, sneakers, and a baseball cap to hide my face. I’ve come a long way in my fashion as well as my music. I am very much still all over the place. That’s the beauty of growing into yourself you’re always growing. Fashion should be treated the same way.
5. How do you stay true to yourself and your personal style in an industry that often prioritizes trends and external expectations?
I don’t follow trends. I look at what’s classic, timeless, and iconic, and I love going against the grain. I kinda ignore trying to fit in. I love rebelling against what everyone does or wants me to be. I do what feels good to me. But I am also adventurous…I try stuff. I wasn’t always like that. But I find that when I do that, I learn more about myself, what I like when I see myself in something, and what I don’t like. I hope this journey of self-discovery and resilience inspires you.

Nene Leakes’ youngest son, Brentt Leakes, recently took to social media to share his battle with health issues from June of this year.
In a heartfelt post, he revealed he was diagnosed with congestive heart failure after several hospital visits.
“Thank you, God. This year was undoubtedly the craziest for me,” he wrote.
On Instagram, he also shared photos from his hospital stay, explaining that he underwent a 14-hour heart transplant surgery in July.
“Now I have a brand new heart,” he said. “I’m still in recovery and have had to relearn how to walk and communicate, but I’m even more fluent.”
He expressed deep gratitude, thanking the heart donor’s family, his mom, friends, and medical staff for their support. “This experience has FOREVER changed my life. Never give up.”
This isn’t Brentt’s first health scare; he suffered congestive heart failure and a stroke in 2022 at just 23. After that, he showed off an inspiring 100-pound weight loss.

Stevie Wonder used his Detroit homecoming as an opportunity to clap back at presidential candidate Donald Trump for disrespecting the city during the campaign.
“I just gotta say for the record, I don’t like nobody talking bad about Detroit,” the Motown icon told a sold-out crowd on Tuesday night at Detroit’s Little Caesars Arena on the latest stop of his Sing Your Song! As We Fix Our Nation’s Broken Heart tour. He then led the audience in a chant of “Don’t cha do it!,” pointedly aimed at Trump.
Wonder was referencing the Republican candidate’s disparaging remarks during an Oct. 13 speech to the Detroit Economic Club, where he warned that if his Democratic opponent, Vice-President Kamala Harris, is elected, “the whole country will end up being like Detroit — a mess.”
He also called Detroit “a developing area more than most places in China.” His remarks generated equally harsh criticism from Detroit and Michigan civic leaders as well as labor leaders.
Wonder, who has publicly, endorsed Harris as “not just any woman, a wonderful woman, and she has done the work consistently.”
He announced the Sing Our Song! tour less than three weeks before its Oct. 8 opening in Pittsburgh, playing 11 shows in mostly swing states such as Michigan, Pennsylvania and Wisconsin in the wake of his surprise single, “As We Fix Our Nation’s Broken Heart.”

Marvel‘s reboot of the Blade film franchise has been removed from its calendar listing its slate of films planned for release in 2025.
According to Variety, on Tuesday (Oct. 22), news of the film being pushed back surfaced, continuing a succession of false-starts and delays of the anticipated project since it was first announced over five years ago.
Blade‘s delay is largely speculated as a byproduct of director Yann Demange’s departure from the film this past June, as well as Disney CEO Bob Iger’s recent declaration that Marvel will only release three movies per year for the foreseeable future.
Predator: Badlands, the sixth film in the popular franchise, is now listed to arrive on the Blade reboot’s previous release date of Nov. 7, 2025.
Starring Mahershala Ali, the reboot of Blade was first announced in 2019 at San Diego Comic-Con after Ali pitched Marvel President Kevin Feige on the idea of taking on the role of Eric “Blade” Brooks in a reboot himself.
However, the project has been subjected to numerous roadblocks in recent years, beginning with the COVID pandemic and continuing with the departure of Bassam Tariq, the first director to helm production over the film, in 2022.
This resulted in the film’s intended release date of November 2023 being pushed back to September 2024. Another roadblock occurred when Marvel suspended pre-production for Blade following the 2023 WGA strike, pushing the movie back again to November 2025.

Busta Rhymes Calls For Reserved Judgement Against Diddy Amid Sexual Assault Allegations
Busta Rhymes believes that the public should reserve their judgement and opinion of Sean “Diddy” Combs until the allegations and charges against him have been resolved.
During a recent interview, Busta became the latest celebrity to weigh in on the whirlwind of sexual assault allegations against Sean “Diddy” Combs, which has become a hot topic within Hip-Hop and entertainment as a whole.
According to the rap star, critique and speculation regarding the claims against Combs does a disservice to his alleged victims, as well as the accused himself.
“The one thing that we should take away from what I’m saying is everybody probably need to mind they damn business until the truth is undisputed,” Busta stated while speaking with Extra. “At that point, justice needs to be served accordingly for everyone involved.”
The Brooklyn native continued, “It’s unfortunate, because I wouldn’t wish this on my worst enemy, and I’m talking about for the victims and I’m talking about for Diddy. So, I’m gonna leave it there, and I’m gonna mind my business, and hopefully everybody can find it in they hearts to keep they opinion to theyself and just know that every time you voice an opinion, you might be hurting somebody.”

Put prayers up for them all,” he said.

Former CEO of Abercrombie & Fitch indicted on sex trafficking charges
Mike Jeffries, the former CEO of Abercrombie & Fitch, has been indicted on 16 federal counts of sex trafficking and international prostitution in New York, and is accused of leveraging “a network of employees, contractors and security professionals” while he led the retailer.
“While Jeffries was the CEO of one of the most recognizable clothing retailers in the world, he was using his power, his wealth and his influence to traffic men for his own sexual pleasure and that of his romantic partner, Matthew Smith,” Breon Peace, U.S. Attorney for the Eastern District of New York, said in a Tuesday press conference.
Smith, 61, of West Palm Beach, Florida, and another associate of Jeffries, James Jacobson, 71, of Rice Lake, Wisconsin, were also indicted as part of the case. Jacobson was employed by Jeffries and Smith to recruit, interview and hire men to perform commercial sex acts for Jeffries and Smith, according to the indictment.
The indictment alleges that between December 2008 and March 2015, Jeffries, Smith, and Jacobson engaged in a sex trafficking scheme in which they would recruit men engage in “sex events” at which the alleged victims were given muscle relaxants known as “poppers,” alcohol, lubricant, Viagra, and condoms to perform sex acts. They were allegedly enticed into the acts with modeling and career opportunities at Abercrombie.
Jefferies stepped down as CEO of Abercrombie & Fitch in December, 2014, having run the company since 1992. Abercrombie & Fitch did not immediately respond to a request for comment.
“The message from today’s prosecution is clear, sexually exploiting vulnerable human beings is a crime in doing so by dangling dreams of a future in fashion or modeling or or any other business is no different,” U.S. Attorney Peace said at the press conference announcing the indictment.

“We will respond in detail to the allegations after the Indictment is unsealed, and when appropriate, but plan to do so in the courthouse – not the media,” said Brian Bieber, attorney for Michael Jeffries. The attorney for Matthew Smith released the same statement for his client. An attorney for Jacobson did not immediately respond to a request for comment.
Jacobson’s alleged role was to travel the world to recruit and interview men for the “sex events” and conduct tryouts of potential candidates. Jacobson typically required that the candidates first engage in sex acts with him, according to the indictment.
Jeffries and Smith hired a separate household staff to supervise these parties and directed the men to wear costumes, use sex toys or prepare for particular sex acts, prosecutors allege. The staff would also act as security and controlled who entered and exited the “sex events,” the indictment says, and would not let them leave until Jeffries and Smith decided the events were over.
The accused are alleged to have used a referral system and interview process for the sex events, but didn’t disclose details to the men about what they would entail, including the full extent and nature of the sexual activity that would be required of them, according to the indictment, which included anal intercourse, and the use of sex toys and other objects.
The accused intentionally recruited heterosexual men, who were also physically groomed prior to the sex parties, including shaving their genitals without advance notice. The men were required to relinquish personal items, including clothing, wallets, and cell phones.
On more than one occasion, the indictment says Jeffries and Smith directed others to inject, or personally injected, men with a drug for the purpose of causing the men to engage in sex acts “in which they were otherwise physically incapable or unwilling.”
These injections frequently caused the men to suffer painful physical reactions that lasted for several hours, according to prosecutors.

That year, Abercrombie & Fitch succumbed to the pressure and announced they would begin offering plus-sizes in some clothing.

“While Jeffries was the CEO of one of the most recognizable clothing retailers in the world, he was using his power, his wealth and his influence to traffic men for his own sexual pleasure and that of his romantic partner, Matthew Smith,” Breon Peace, U.S. Attorney for the Eastern District of New York, said in a Tuesday press conference.
Smith, 61, of West Palm Beach, Florida, and another associate of Jeffries, James Jacobson, 71, of Rice Lake, Wisconsin, were also indicted as part of the case. Jacobson was employed by Jeffries and Smith to recruit, interview and hire men to perform commercial sex acts for Jeffries and Smith, according to the indictment.
The indictment alleges that between December 2008 and March 2015, Jeffries, Smith, and Jacobson engaged in a sex trafficking scheme in which they would recruit men engage in “sex events” at which the alleged victims were given muscle relaxants known as “poppers,” alcohol, lubricant, Viagra, and condoms to perform sex acts. They were allegedly enticed into the acts with modeling and career opportunities at Abercrombie.
Jefferies stepped down as CEO of Abercrombie & Fitch in December, 2014, having run the company since 1992. Abercrombie & Fitch did not immediately respond to a request for comment.
“The message from today’s prosecution is clear, sexually exploiting vulnerable human beings is a crime in doing so by dangling dreams of a future in fashion or modeling or or any other business is no different,” U.S. Attorney Peace said at the press conference announcing the indictment.

In a decision released Tuesday, U.S. District Judge Lewis Liman ordered Giuliani, a longtime ally of and former lawyer for former President Donald Trump, to transfer personal property "including cash accounts, jewelry and valuables, a legal claim for unpaid attorneys’ fees, and his interest in his Madison Avenue co-op apartment to a receivership" within seven days.

Among the items that are supposed to be turned over are Giuliani's apartment, which is valued at $5.7 million, his collection of luxury watches, including watches gifted to him by his grandfather and the French president, a signed Joe DiMaggio jersey, a signed Reggie Jackson picture and a 1980 Mercedes previously owned by actress Lauren Bacall.
Some items not included in the decision are his three New York Yankees World Series rings because his son Andrew Giuliani has claimed that his father gifted the rings to him. The judge said Andrew Giuliani's claim — and Freeman and Moss's claim to Giuliani's Florida condo — would be determined at a later date.
The unpaid legal fee that Liman referenced refers to $2 million that Giuliani says the Trump campaign owes him for his efforts at overturning the 2020 election results.

Judge Joe Brown’s unhinged rant about Vice President Kamala Harris
Brown uttered extremely explicit statements about Harris while on stage speaking to a crowd at an undisclosed location.
“I’ma hurt somebody’s feelings, but we got a witch running for president,” Brown begins within the clip. “That woman is the worst kind of sleaze you could ever think of.”
The former TV judge added that he saw many “pimps and h—” over 40 years ago in Memphis, and said, “I know a h– when I see one … ” in regards to a video featuring Harris speaking that was published by Yahoo.com.
The judge added, “When I see a h–, I know she got a pimp, and I want to find out who the pimps are that we getting tricked out of the benefit of. Who are the pimps that this woman is working for? And I see some decent ladies out there, I’ve met a few of you, and i resent the fact that you got a h– that’s been in your face.”
“Harris is faking being a negro,” Brown claims, adding that he met Harris’ father in Jamaica and was told he is not Black, but “Irish and Hindu.”
This is not the first time Brown has let the expletives and insults fly when describing Harris’ alleged character and machinations. He accused Harris of flirting with men to get what she wanted in an interview for the “Art of Dialogue” podcast.

Baseball legend Fernando Valenzuela, known as El Toro, has sadly passed away at the age of 63.
The news was announced on Tuesday night (October 22) by the Los Angeles Dodgers, the team he spent the longest tenure on during his MLB career.
“We are deeply saddened to hear of the passing of former Dodgers great Fernando Valenzuela,” the MLB said in a statement.

Cardi hopped on Instagram Live to address the prankster early Tuesday (Oct. 22) from what appeared to be a hospital bed (she said she’s been hospitalized since Oct. 19) while vowing to get to the bottom of whoever attempted to mess with her family.
We have reached out to reps for Cardi B and CPS. The Grammy-winning rapper and Offset are the parents to three kids — 6-year-old daughter Kulture, 3-year-old son Wave and a newborn daughter they welcomed in September.
“I swear to you I’m gonna get to the bottom of it. For you motherf—–s to do a little prank call with Child Protective Services to come to my gated mansion at 11 p.m. while my children are sleeping because there’s an anonymous call that my kids have been getting abused and beaten,” she said. “Are you f–king dumb? This is when the pranks start getting too far — when you a——s think it’s funny.”
She continued: “We’re the only people of color in my neighborhood completely and for motherf–kers to pop up in my house with cops and Child Protective Services because you motherf–kers want to do an anonymous call involving my children.”
Cardi also defended her spoiling her kids as she revealed she sends Kulture to a private school costing her and Set $45,000 in tuition fees each, while a nanny for their newborn comes with a $700 daily price tag.
“My kids live great,” she added. “My kids have never been touched, never gotten hit, no matter how annoying they are. I never hit my kids. We take very great care of our kids. Don’t you ever in your f–king life play with my motherhood or my ex-husband’s fatherhood.”

Girl Scouts To Raise Membership Dues Over The Next Two Years To Combat Financial Loss
After eight years, the Girl Scouts of the USA (GSUSA) raised its annual membership fees over the next two years. The increase will raise the current $25 fee to $45 in 2026 and then to $65 by 2027. The National Council Session approved the 106% raise to decrease the organization’s debt and ensure its sustainability.
As of now, GSUSA is facing a possible $5 million net operating loss for this fiscal year, which could be one of the causes for the membership fee raise. In fact, according to the organization, this effort will help GSUSA avoid discontinuing or reducing its services and programs. By making this change, GSUSA hopes to improve its finances to ensure girls’ empowerment across the country continues.
“Girl Scouting must invest today to better serve our current members and to reach girls who are currently missing out on the Girl Scout experience,” a document shared on the organization’s website read.
Despite the significant increase, GSUSA is committed to ensuring that they can provide financial assistance to all volunteers and girls so they can participate in the organization. To maintain the affordability of the programs, GSUSA will only raise its adult membership fee from $25 to $30 next year.
“This investment provides GSUSA with the opportunity to implement initiatives that will have a lasting impact on our Girl Scout councils, volunteers, and the girls and families we serve,” a spokesperson for the organization said.
