The two fashion icons (and longtime close friends) come together exclusively for this shoot, and a first-time dual interview (extremely rare for Meisel) to celebrate their decades-long collaborations and a breathtaking new book, Linda Evangelista Photographed by Steven Meisel, Meisel’s first retrospective monograph, which Phaidon will publish this month. The legendary pair discuss their friendship over the years, with Meisel as champion, mentor, and sometime savior to Evangelista, with the two admitting that their new book is Evangelista’s brain-child — a way to celebrate life and explore their legacy, marking a big comeback after overcoming her much-reported health struggles.
Meisel on meeting Evangelista for the first time: “She just sparkled,” Meisel remembers.
Meisel and Evangelista on deciding to do the book now: “I just did [the new book] because Linda asked,” he says about his first retrospective monograph.
“And he said yes!” she chimes in. “There was no long, in-depth conversation…. We went to work…. Dare I say, I was kind of easy,” she adds. (Evangelista says she is still deciding on a breast-cancer research organization where she will donate her book proceeds.)
“It was the right time,” Meisel says. Choosing which photos to use was surprisingly easy. “We agreed—” she starts a sentence. And he finishes it: “Ninety-nine percent of the time.”
Evangelista on her breast cancer battle: “I’ve kept it quiet. Only a handful of people knew. And I’m just not one of those people who has to share everything,” she says. “I thought to myself, I will share this one day but while I am going through it, absolutely not. I don’t want the Daily Mail waiting outside my door like they do every time something happens. ‘Linda seen for the first time since blah blah blah.’ ”
Evangelista on hair growth after second time undergoing chemotherapy: “This is all new hair,” she says. “It came back very dark. It’s even curlier than it used to be. The first time, I lost all the hair on top of my head, like my grandfather did.”
Evangelista on her first breast cancer diagnosis in 2018: “It was detected in my annual mammogram,” she says. “The margins were not good, and due to other health factors, without hesitation, because I wanted to put everything behind me and not to have to deal with this, I opted for a bilateral mastectomy. Thinking I was good and set for life. Breast cancer was not going to kill me.”
Evangelista on her reaction to a second breast cancer diagnosis last July: “Dig a hole in my chest,” she told him. “I don’t want it to look pretty. I want you to excavate. I want to see a hole in my chest when you’re done. Do you understand me? I’m not dying from this.”
Evangelista on tackling her treatment: “I just went into this mode that I know how to do—just do what you’ve got to do and get through it. And that’s what I did.”
Evangelista on her prognosis: Recently, she’s been told by her post–cancer care oncologist that her prognosis is good. It’s not quite the answer she was hoping to hear. “Not ‘great’? Why isn’t it great?” she asked. “Well, once it’s come back, there’s a chance,” she says the doctor told her. With what she describes as “a horrible oncotype score,” a number that represents the recurrence risk of cancer, Evangelista says her future is uncertain, which makes every day precious. “I know I have one foot in the grave, but I’m totally in celebration mode.”
Evangelista on whether she feels she did anything wrong in choosing to undergo CoolSculpting treatments that reportedly left her “horribly disfigured”: “I did,” she says. “I took a drink of the magic potion.”
“I love that movie,” she adds, referring to Death Becomes Her, the 1992 black comedy, starring Meryl Streep and Goldie Hawn, in which a potion promising eternal youth wreaks havoc.
“I said to myself, Would I drink the magic potion?” she continues. “Of course I would.”
After the CoolSculpting commercials on television “got to my head,” she succumbed to the temptation. “It just backfired on me,” she says.
Evangelista on her son, Augustin James Evangelista Pinault, who will turn 17 in October: “He loves sports. We love going to games. You name it,” she says, listing some of his preferred teams, which include the Carolina Panthers (“Our favorite is American football; we’re crazy about it”).
“We travel to a lot of games as we enjoy it so much, and I was secure for many years knowing I wouldn’t be recognized.”
Evangelista on Salma Hayek, Augie’s step-mother, wife to Augustin’s father, François-Henri Pinault: “I love that woman. She’s a woman’s woman. Just like me, [she’s] so family oriented, and so positive. She’s a blessing to us…. She was very, very generous and kind to me while I was going through my chemo.”
Meisel and Evangelista on their friendship: When Linda comes over, they do “normal stuff,” she says, like watching TV, awards shows being among their preferred viewing. Linda learned to cook from her Italian mother, grandmother and aunts, and enjoys cooking seasonal dishes.
“Not that I was ever aware,” Meisel says archly. “The other night, she came over for dinner and we ordered in…. She says she’s a good cook…but I don’t know that.”
“I’m a great cook! You eat my food,” she counters.
The pair continue to press their points before he abruptly ends the discussion: “Fine, she’s a great cook.”

#RHOA: Kenya Moore hands Marlo Hampton a blank subpoena in Season 15 reunion
Kenya Moore of Real Housewives of Atlanta served her cast mate, Marlo Hampton, a blank subpoena during the first part of the Season 15 reunion — but why?
RHOA’s Kenya Moore is not only ‘Gone with the Wind fabulous,’ she is also a mother, having given birth to her daughter Brooklyn four years ago.
She’s also been a cast mate of RHOA since Season 5, where she would eventually be joined by her controversial friend Marlo Hampton, as Hampton was finally given her Peach in Season 14.
Though Moore has been candid on the show about her family life, sharing that her daughter would likely be her only kin, as her birth nearly left her dead, Moore’s trials with cast mate Marlo Hampton have continued to tribulate despite their apparent support for each other here and there.
Sure, Hampton revealed to BravoTV executive Andy Cohen that she uses Moore’s line of hair care products, but Hampton’s minimal support for Moore just might not be enough for Moore to forgive her — especially since Hampton was officially served a subpoena by the ‘Kenya Moore Hair Care’ CEO during part one of the Season 15 reunion.
Why did Kenya Moore serve Marlo Hampton a blank subpoena?
In the first section of the part-two RHOA reunion, Kenya Moore served Marlo Hampton a blank subpoena.
The explosive moment began with Andy Cohen asking Moore if her divorce with Marc Daly was final. Moore then explained that Daly filed “contempt charges” against her.
The charges against Moore state that she was allegedly preventing Daly from seeing their four-year-old daughter Brooklyn.
She was also cited for placing Brooklyn in an “unsafe environment” during an episode when Hampton kicked down the hotel door where Moore and Brooklyn were sleeping.
Though Hampton apologized to Moore during the reunion for exposing Brooklyn to violence, Moore proceeded to serve Hampton a blank subpoena. However, the real document with Hampton’s information is reported to have been given to her off-air.
Moore then continued to expose Hampton for texting her ex-husband Daly two years prior to the reunion, which Hampton denied. The texts from Hampton allegedly reveal her asking Daly for dirt on Moore.
Moore also stated that she “doesn’t want to go to jail,” so Hampton is required to attend court on Moore’s behalf and explain that Brooklyn was only put into an unsafe environment because of her.
Being that Hampton’s name was in the context of the charges filed against Moore, Hampton will legally have to appear in court as Moore’s witness. Though the two have their rifts, Hampton finished the conversation about the situation saying she will in fact attend court for Moore.
The second part of the explosive RHOA Season 15 reunion will premiere next Sunday, September 10, on BravoTV at 8 p.m. EST.
Coco Gauff Beats Karolina Muchova, 50-minute protest delay to advance to 1st US Open final
Coco Gauff was delayed in her quest for her first US Open final. But she was not denied.
Gauff swept No. 10 seed Karolina Muchova, 6-4, 7-5 on Thursday in a semifinal match that included a 50-minute delay when a protestor glued his feet to the Arthur Ashe Stadium stands. She'll play on Saturday for what would be her first Grand Slam championship. At 19 years old, she's the youngest American finalist at the US Open since Serena Williams won her first in 1999. She'll face No. 2 seed Aryna Sabalenka in Saturday's final.
Gauff takes charge early
On a relatively brisk 85-degree night at the Billie Jean King National Tennis Center, Gauff, seed sixth, came out on fire. She broke two of Muchova's first three serves and played with the set on her racket leading, 5-1. But Muchova broke back to keep the set alive, then broke Gauff again to cut her deficit to 5-4. Gauff didn't give her a chance to tie.
With Muchova serving, Gauff took a 40-0 lead to set up triple set point. She only needed one, sweeping the final game of the set to take a 1-0 lead.
Protest forces players to take a break
Gauff picked up where she left off in the second set, taking a 1-0 lead. Then chaos ensued. Shouts could be heard from the upper reaches of the 23,000-plus capacity Arthur Ashe Stadium stands. Demonstrators who have frequently targeted Grand Slam tennis matches in 2023 prompted what initially appeared to be a brief delay. But when play didn't resume more than 15 minutes later, players left the court for the locker room.
The delay continued for more than 45 minutes — at the time inexplicably — as several police officers conferred around the place of the protest. Photos and reporting from the stands eventually confirmed why. One protestor had glued his feet to the cement stands.
Tournament director Stacey Allaster confirmed the reports in an interview with ESPN prior to the resumption of play.
"Two were removed," Allaster said of the protestors. ... "When security got there, they found that one of the protesters had physically glued themselves in their bare feet to the cement floor."
Officials eventually removed the final protestor from the stadium. Play resumed after a 50-minute delay with Gauff leading the second set, 1-0.
Muchova held on her opening serve post-delay. Gauff, likewise, was unfazed, sweeping her first serve after the demonstration. The pair each held serve until Gauff broke Muchova to take a 5-3 lead and serve for the match. But Mochova wasn't done.
Gauff wins hard-fought second set for sweep
Gauff took a 30-0 lead with a chance to serve for the match. But Muchova rallied for the break and scored 9 out of 10 points to tie the set at 5-5.
The rally would not last. Gauff held on her next serve. Muchova then double faulted on her next serve, setting up a dramatic final game saw Gauff maintained her lead and face several chances to break for the match. Finally, after taking advantage for a fifth time on a 40-shot rally, Gauff won on her fifth match point of the set.
Saturday's final will be Gauff's second in a Grand Slam after she advanced to the 2022 French Open final.
Carl Nassib, the first out gay NFL player has decided to retire
Carl Nassib, the first out gay NFL player, is retiring from the league after seven seasons.
Nassib made the “bittersweet” announcement on social media on Wednesday.
“This is a bittersweet moment for me but after seven seasons and just over 100 NFL games I am officially retiring from football to focus on my company Rayze,” Nassib wrote on Instagram.
“It really feels like just yesterday starting out as a walk-on at Penn State. Football has given me more than I ever could have imagined. I can truly hang up my helmet for the last time knowing I gave it everything I had.”
In June 2021, the defensive lineman with the Las Vegas Raiders became the first active NFL player in league history to announce that he is gay. Nassib said he agonized over the decision to make known he was gay for 15 years, adding that he was a private person and wasn’t seeking publicity.
Three months later, Nassib became the first out gay NFL footballer to play in a regular season game – a thrilling 33-27 victory against the Baltimore Ravens in which he had a decisive strip sack on Ravens quarterback Lamar Jackson in overtime.
“It was always my dream to play in the NFL, even as a walk-on, and I really feel like the luckiest guy on the planet,” he added.
The 30-year-old said he looks forward to working with the NFL on diversity, equity and inclusion matters.
“I think that I can provide a very rare and specific view of how life is for an out gay player, and I think that there are some amazing opportunities that I can also learn,” Nassib told People.
Nassib continued: “Maintaining that relationship shows that the NFL is continuing to support me. They’ve supported me so much over the last two years, and I really couldn’t have done it without that support.”
The seven-year veteran was selected by the Cleveland Browns in the third round of the 2016 NFL Draft out of Penn State. He played for the Browns from 2016 to 2017, the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in 2018, 2019 and again in 2022 and the Raiders from 2020-2021.
Nassib recorded 25.5 sacks, 187 tackles, 59 quarterback hits, four forced fumbles and one interception in his career, according to the NFL.
Danny Masterson of The “That ’70s Show” has been sentenced to 30 years to life in prison
LOS ANGELES — “That ’70s Show” star Danny Masterson was sentenced Thursday to 30 years to life in prison for raping two women more than two decades ago at his Hollywood Hills home
Masterson, 47, showed no visible emotion after Los Angeles County Superior Court Judge Charlaine Olmedo threw the book at him.
"Mr. Masterson, I know that you’re sitting here steadfast in your claims of innocence and thus no doubt feeling victimized by a justice system that has failed you," Olmedo said just before she dispatched Masterson to prison. "But Mr. Masterson, you are not the victim here."
Masterson's wife, Bijou Phillips, a model and actor who was a constant presence at her husband's trials, quickly donned a pair of sunglasses after Olmedo announced the sentence. She left the courtroom without a word.

Masterson was hit with the staggering sentence four months after he was convicted on two of the three rape counts he faced at his retrial in Los Angeles. He had been charged with raping three women — identified at trial as Jane Doe #1, Jane Doe #2 and Jane Doe #3 — from 2001 to 2003.
Masterson, a once-popular sitcom star, did not take the stand at either of his trials. He has, through his lawyers, repeatedly denied sexually assaulting the women.
Neither did Masterson make any statement at his sentencing. Instead, he sat silently as the two women he was convicted of raping, as well as a former girlfriend whose rape accusation the jury deadlocked over in May, took turns urging the judge to hit him with a harsh punishment.
“When you raped me, you stole from me,” Jane Doe #2 told the court. “That’s what rape is, a theft of the spirit.”
“You are pathetic, disturbed and completely violent,” she said. “The world is better off with you in prison.”
Jane Doe #1 said Masterson “has not shown an ounce of remorse for the pain he caused.”
"I knew he belonged behind bars for the safety of all the women he came into contact with," she said. "I am so sorry, and I’m so upset. I wish I’d reported him sooner to the police.”
Jane Doe #3 said Masterson's actions sentenced her to “viewing my body as a crime scene my entire life.”
In a post-sentencing statement, Los Angeles County District Attorney George Gascón said he applauded the women for "coming forward and participating in this process."
"My hope is that this sentence will somehow bring them peace and that their bravery will be an example to others," Gascón said. "One of my top priorities is to ensure that Los Angeles will no longer be a hunting ground for Hollywood elite who feel entitled to prey on women.”
Shawn Holley, one of Masterson's lawyers, said in a statement the legal battle is not over.
"And though we have great respect for the jury in this case and for our system of justice overall, sometimes they get it wrong," Holley said. "And that’s what happened here."
"Mr. Masterson did not commit the crimes for which he has been convicted and we and the appellate lawyers — the best and the brightest in the country — are confident that these convictions will be overturned."
Masterson’s first trial ended in November with a mistrial, with jurors leaning toward acquittal. His second trial ended with his being convicted of raping Jane Doe #1 and Jane Doe #2 but not Jane Doe #3 because the jurors could not reach a decision.
All three accusers are former members of the Church of Scientology, to which Masterson belongs.
Both trials focused unwanted attention on the controversial church, which the women have accused of trying to cover up the allegations.
At the retrial, Olmedo stressed that Scientology was not a defendant. But she allowed witnesses to testify that church officials pressured them not to talk to police about the rape allegations.
Scientology spokeswoman Karin Pouw repeatedly denied those allegations and insisted that church doctrine requires members to “abide by all the laws of the land.”
After Masterson's sentencing, the church released a statement that did not mention Masterson by name; it said the prosecution's "introduction of religion into this trial was an unprecedented violation of the First Amendment."
"The Church was not a party to this case and religion did not belong in this proceeding as Supreme Court precedent has maintained for centuries," it said.

#HipHopNews: Coi Leray And Busta Rhymes Tease "Luxury Life" With Trailer and Cover Art
This Friday (Sept. 8), Busta Rhymes and Coi Leray will unveil their new single, “Luxury Life.” Produced by Swizz Beatz, the song is set to premiere alongside a visual companion directed by Benny Boom.
Earlier this week, both artists took to social media to tease the much-anticipated track. A video snippet revealed a scene that paid homage to Quentin Tarantino’s iconic 1994 film, Pulp Fiction. In the preview, Leray seemingly took charge of a diner robbery while Rhymes lent his inimitable charisma to the scenario.
Meanwhile, fans have been excited about the sample featured in “Luxury Life.” The record leaned heavily into the nostalgia factor, borrowing its backbone from JAY-Z’s 1996 hit “Ain’t No N**ga.” The latter interpolated The Whole Darn Family’s ’70s cut “Seven Minutes of Funk.”
This isn’t the first time Rhymes and Leray have crossed paths. They previously teamed up for a remix of the New Jersey native’s viral hit, “Players,” which pulled its instrumental from another hip hop classic: Grandmaster Flash and The Furious Five’s “The Message.”
The updated iteration came to fruition after DJ Saige created a version that sampled one of Rhymes’ signature tracks, fortifying “Players” on the charts and earning kudos from the rap veteran himself.
The collaboration is slated to mark yet another highlight in both artists’ careers. In 2020, Rhymes released his 10th studio album, Extinction Level Event 2: The Wrath of God, featuring an expansive guest list that included Kendrick Lamar and Mary J. Blige. The LP climbed its way into the top 10 of the Billboard 200 chart.
Meanwhile, Leray has been riding a wave of success with her Blue Moon EP. The five-record project contained standout cuts like “Isabel Marant,” “Wicked Butterflies,” and “Liquor and Weed.”
Regarding the body of work, she noted, “This EP, I get vulnerable. I got tired of ‘trying’ new things and wanted to just do what I do BEST. I have a hard time with telling my story because I get wrapped up in the media narratives. However, music is the best way for me to tell it. Sorry, I can’t argue with y’all on the internet all day.”
Britney Spears Suffers Wardrobe Malfunction While Partying In Cabo Amid Divorce
Britney Spears may want to escape from the drama surrounding her divorce from Sam Asghari, but she was almost caught in an embarrassing situation during her latest vacation. The pop superstar seemingly suffered a wardrobe malfunction while partying in Cabo San Lucas, Mexico.
In a video obtained by Page Six, the singer could be seen having a lot of fun at Baja Diablo on Sunday, September 3. She was dancing to the music at the bar when one of the sleeves of her dress slipped down the chest and nearly exposed her breast.
The 41-year-old seemed to be unbothered by the slip though as she continued to dance on. Moments later, she mindlessly adjusted her dress to cover herself up.
Britney was accompanied by her bodyguard and a female friend who wore a similar dress to her. The bodyguard was multitasking as he was seen taking a phone call, dancing with the singer while also watching her back.
For the outing, Britney opted for a red dress teamed with a pair of white boots. She accessorized with white-rimmed sunglasses and a black choker necklace while styling her blonde hair in a messy bun. At one point, she let her long hair down.
After a video of her partying at the Cabo bar made its way out on the Internet, Britney admitted to being "embarrassed as hell." Addressing the dance video, she took to her Instagram page on Wednesday, September 6 to pen, "I'm embarrassed as hell !!! Like a lost idiot I heard music and horns from my car !!!"
The "Toxic" songstress claimed she wasn't aware that she was being filmed at the time. "I walked in like a deer in headlights and had no idea I was being recorded from all sides !!!" she continued recalling. "I'm only human and I have no idea what the hell is going on with my hair but I made a pit stop in Mexico !!!"
Britney then revealed her next pit stop as sharing, "I'm headed to Italy now to grab my favorite spaghetti and meat BALLS !!! I know the owner there so hopefully he can get me in through the back door."
Sam filed for divorce from Britney on August 16 after only 14 months of marriage. Addressing the separation, the Grammy winner later said in a statement, "As everyone knows, Hesam and I are no longer together … six years is a long time to be with someone so, I'm a little shocked but … I'm not here to explain why because it's honestly nobody's business. But, I couldn't take the pain any more, honestly."
The estranged couple has no child together, while they have reached a custody agreement of their five dogs.

Nicki Minaj’s latest album cover has garnered many comparisons to multi-Grammy winner Janet Jackson. The two artists traded loving responses after online trolls attempted to spark a beef between the two.

“#fashhhionn,” wrote the “Control” singer attached to a meme of “black-ish” star, Marsai Martin. Meanwhile, Minaj’s post only featured the name and release date of her upcoming album, “11.17.23. #PinkFriday2.”
The Barbz accused Jackson of throwing shade at their queen since she shared the photo one day after the Young Money artist revealed the cover art. Some didn’t understand the outrage.

Jackson responded to the criticism with a heart emoji, writing, “It’s a shame that people want to pit one artist against another.”
Assuming it was a tribute from the “Rhythm Nation” artist, the “Super Bass” rapper replied, noting that Jackson was an “Icon. Legend. Royalty. The original definition of #ICanBeAllTheWayCoveredItsSTILLgivingSEXY.”
But this isn’t the first time Jackson and Minaj have caused a frenzy online. In 2021, fans speculated the two were working together on a song after the “Last Time I Saw You” artist followed Jackson on X, formerly known as Twitter.
The buzz was created around a since-deleted tweet from an X user who suggested the pop queens were working on a collaboration together. Jackson and Minaj also follow each other on Instagram and hit the same stage at the 2022 Essence Festival.
Since then, Jackson has released a special deluxe edition of her album, “Janet,” in honor of its 30th anniversary this year in May. The following month, she wrapped up her Together Again tour with rapper Ludacris.
Meanwhile, Nicki is gearing up to release her fifth studio album this fall as the sequel to her Billboard chart-topping album from 2015. This will be her first album release since 2018’s “Queen.”
Lizzo to Be Honored With Quincy Jones Humanitarian Award By Black Music Action Coalition
Lizzo is set to receive the Quincy Jones Humanitarian Award at this year’s Black Music Action Coalition gala, with the honor coming as the singer faces a lawsuit from her former dancers accusing her of a toxic work environment.
Epic Records CEO Sylvia Rhone is also set to be honored at the event with the BMAC Clarence Avant Trailblazer Award, joining the previously announced Jermaine Dupri in receiving the honor. Rhone — who became the first Black woman to be named CEO of a major record label owned by a Fortune 500 company when she took on her role in 2019 — will receive the award named after the late music executive who served on the BMAC advisory board.
“The Black Music Action Coalition is proud to honor Lizzo and Sylvia Rhone at this year’s gala as they join a group of trailblazers who have made immense impact within the music industry and beyond,” said BMAC co-founder Willie “Prophet” Stiggers. “We applaud their dedication to pushing boundaries, amplifying Black voices and crashing through those glass ceilings creating space for Black women.”
The announcement of Lizzo’s honor comes just a month after the entertainer was sued — alongside her production company Big Grrrl Big Touring Inc. and dance team captain Shirlene Quigley — by a trio of former dancers who allege that they were subjected to religious and racial harassment, disability discrimination, assault and false imprisonment. Two days after the complaint was filed, Lizzo posted a lengthy statement on Instagram denying the allegations. “I am not here to be looked at as a victim, but I also know that I am not the villain that people and the media have portrayed me to be these last few days,” wrote the Grammy-winning singer. “There is nothing I take more seriously than the respect we deserve as women in the world.”

On Wednesday (September 6), showrunners Stephen Warren and Johnnie Ingram announced that the 51-year-old drag performer will be joining the hosting squad of the HBO series for the upcoming fourth season.
“In this increasingly hostile political climate, we are grateful to HBO for their dedication to telling LGBTQ+ stories that meet the moment and document our history,” the showrunners shared in a statement with Variety. “We are thrilled to expand our drag family and give much-needed love to the people on the front lines of hate.”
Back in July, it was announced that after hosting the first three seasons, Bob the Drag Queen, Eureka O’Hara, and Shangela would not be returning for the fourth season.
Latrice now joins previously announced hosts Priyanka, Sasha Velour, and Jaida Essence Hall.
Bruce Springsteen Postpones All Tour Dates in September to Treat Symptoms of Peptic Ulcer Disease
Bruce Springsteen has shared some sad news with fans. On Wednesday (September 6), the 73-year-old entertainer announced that he was postponing all September dates on his 2023 Springsteen E Street Band Tour as he is treated for symptoms of peptic ulcer disease.
“Bruce Springsteen and The E Street Band have postponed all performances currently scheduled for September 2023, beginning with tomorrow’s show scheduled for the JMA Wireless Dome in Syracuse, N.Y,” read a statement on Bruce‘s website.
“Mr. Springsteen is being treated for symptoms of peptic ulcer disease and the decision of his medical advisors is that he should postpone the remainder of his September shows,” the statement added.
Peptic ulcers are “open sores that develop on the inside lining of your stomach and the upper portion of your small intestine. The most common symptom of a peptic ulcer is stomach pain,” according to the Mayo Clinic.
Bruce also shared a message after putting his tour on pause.
“Over here on E Street, we’re heartbroken to have to postpone these shows. First, apologies to our fabulous Philly fans who we missed a few weeks ago. We’ll be back to pick these shows up and then some,” Bruce shared. “Thank you for your understanding and support. We’ve been having a blast at our U.S. shows and we’re looking forward to more great times. We’ll be back soon. Love and God bless all.”

Eddie Murphy’s First Holiday Movie Coming to Prime Video in December
*Prime Video’s Christmas movie “Candy Cane Lane,” starring Eddie Murphy and Tracee Ellis Ross, is coming to the platform on Dec. 1.
Directed by Reginald Hudlin, “Candy Cane Lane” follows Murphy as a man on a mission to win his neighborhood’s annual Christmas home decoration contest.
“After Chris (Murphy) inadvertently makes a deal with a mischievous elf named Pepper (Jillian Bell) to better his chances of winning, she casts a magic spell that brings the 12 Days of Christmas to life, and wreaks havoc on the whole town,” per the film synopsis. “At the risk of ruining the holidays for his family, Chris, his wife Carol (Tracee Ellis Ross), and their three children must race against the clock to break Pepper’s spell, battle deviously magical characters, and save Christmas for everyone.”
Ross stars as Chris’s wife, Carol. The cast also includes Thaddeus J. Mixson, Ken Marino, Nick Offerman, Robin Thede, Chris Redd, Genneya Walton, Madison Thomas, D.C. Young Fly, Anjelah Johnson-Reyes, and Nancy Lenehan.
“I can’t wait for the world to see ‘Candy Cane Lane,’” Hudlin said in a statement. “I’ve wanted to make a Christmas movie my whole life, but I wanted to do something fresh and surprising. Eddie Murphy and this hilarious cast really bring the funny, it’s super Christmas-y, and it will hit you right in the feels.”
“Candy Cane Lane” marks Murphy’s first holiday film, for which he also serves as a producer along with Brian Grazer, Karen Lunder, and Charisse Hewitt-Webster.
“Candy Cane Lane” is the first project in Murphy’s three-picture deal with Amazon Studios. The film reunites Hudlin, Murphy, and Grazer for the first time since their 1992 hit, “Boomerang.”

*OWN: Oprah Winfrey Network will premiere a six-part docuseries, “Rebuilding Black Wall Street,” hosted by Morris Chestnut (The Best Man, Rosewood, Boyz n the Hood), who will trace the century-long impact of the 1921 Tulsa Massacre and chronicle the resilient community rebuilding on Friday, September 29 at 9PM ET/8PM CST.
Tulsa’s Greenwood District, better known as Black Wall Street where Black business leaders, homeowners, and civic leaders thrived. On May 31, 1921, and into the next day, a mob destroyed that district in what has been called the single most horrific incident of racial terrorism since slavery. An estimated 300 people were killed, more than 1,200 homes destroyed, and at least 60 businesses and community buildings burned to the ground.
The two fashion icons (and longtime close friends) come together exclusively for this shoot, and a first-time dual interview (extremely rare for Meisel) to celebrate their decades-long collaborations and a breathtaking new book, Linda Evangelista Photographed by Steven Meisel, Meisel’s first retrospective monograph, which Phaidon will publish this month. Meisel on meeting Evangelista for the first time: “She just sparkled,” Meisel remembers.
Meisel and Evangelista on deciding to do the book now: “I just did [the new book] because Linda asked,” he says about his first retrospective monograph.
“And he said yes!” she chimes in. “There was no long, in-depth conversation…. We went to work…. Dare I say, I was kind of easy,” she adds. (Evangelista says she is still deciding on a breast-cancer research organization where she will donate her book proceeds.)
“It was the right time,” Meisel says. Choosing which photos to use was surprisingly easy. “We agreed—” she starts a sentence. And he finishes it: “Ninety-nine percent of the time.”
Evangelista on her breast cancer battle: “I’ve kept it quiet. Only a handful of people knew. And I’m just not one of those people who has to share everything,” she says. “I thought to myself, I will share this one day but while I am going through it, absolutely not. I don’t want the Daily Mail waiting outside my door like they do every time something happens. ‘Linda seen for the first time since blah blah blah.’ ”
Evangelista on hair growth after second time undergoing chemotherapy: “This is all new hair,” she says. “It came back very dark. It’s even curlier than it used to be. The first time, I lost all the hair on top of my head, like my grandfather did.”
Evangelista on her first breast cancer diagnosis in 2018: “It was detected in my annual mammogram,” she says. “The margins were not good, and due to other health factors, without hesitation, because I wanted to put everything behind me and not to have to deal with this, I opted for a bilateral mastectomy. Thinking I was good and set for life. Breast cancer was not going to kill me.”
Evangelista on her reaction to a second breast cancer diagnosis last July: “Dig a hole in my chest,” she told him. “I don’t want it to look pretty. I want you to excavate. I want to see a hole in my chest when you’re done. Do you understand me? I’m not dying from this.”
Evangelista on tackling her treatment: “I just went into this mode that I know how to do—just do what you’ve got to do and get through it. And that’s what I did.”
Evangelista on her prognosis: Recently, she’s been told by her post–cancer care oncologist that her prognosis is good. It’s not quite the answer she was hoping to hear. “Not ‘great’? Why isn’t it great?” she asked. “Well, once it’s come back, there’s a chance,” she says the doctor told her. With what she describes as “a horrible oncotype score,” a number that represents the recurrence risk of cancer, Evangelista says her future is uncertain, which makes every day precious. “I know I have one foot in the grave, but I’m totally in celebration mode.”
Evangelista on whether she feels she did anything wrong in choosing to undergo CoolSculpting treatments that reportedly left her “horribly disfigured”: “I did,” she says. “I took a drink of the magic potion.”
“I love that movie,” she adds, referring to Death Becomes Her, the 1992 black comedy, starring Meryl Streep and Goldie Hawn, in which a potion promising eternal youth wreaks havoc.
“I said to myself, Would I drink the magic potion?” she continues. “Of course I would.”
After the CoolSculpting commercials on television “got to my head,” she succumbed to the temptation. “It just backfired on me,” she says.
Evangelista on her son, Augustin James Evangelista Pinault, who will turn 17 in October: “He loves sports. We love going to games. You name it,” she says, listing some of his preferred teams, which include the Carolina Panthers (“Our favorite is American football; we’re crazy about it”).
“We travel to a lot of games as we enjoy it so much, and I was secure for many years knowing I wouldn’t be recognized.”
Evangelista on Salma Hayek, Augie’s step-mother, wife to Augustin’s father, François-Henri Pinault: “I love that woman. She’s a woman’s woman. Just like me, [she’s] so family oriented, and so positive. She’s a blessing to us…. She was very, very generous and kind to me while I was going through my chemo.”
Meisel and Evangelista on their friendship: When Linda comes over, they do “normal stuff,” she says, like watching TV, awards shows being among their preferred viewing. Linda learned to cook from her Italian mother, grandmother and aunts, and enjoys cooking seasonal dishes.
“Not that I was ever aware,” Meisel says archly. “The other night, she came over for dinner and we ordered in…. She says she’s a good cook…but I don’t know that.”
“I’m a great cook! You eat my food,” she counters.
The pair continue to press their points before he abruptly ends the discussion: “Fine, she’s a great cook.”

#RHOA: Kenya Moore hands Marlo Hampton a blank subpoena in Season 15 reunion
RHOA’s Kenya Moore is not only ‘Gone with the Wind fabulous,’ she is also a mother, having given birth to her daughter Brooklyn four years ago.
She’s also been a cast mate of RHOA since Season 5, where she would eventually be joined by her controversial friend Marlo Hampton, as Hampton was finally given her Peach in Season 14.
Though Moore has been candid on the show about her family life, sharing that her daughter would likely be her only kin, as her birth nearly left her dead, Moore’s trials with cast mate Marlo Hampton have continued to tribulate despite their apparent support for each other here and there.
Sure, Hampton revealed to BravoTV executive Andy Cohen that she uses Moore’s line of hair care products, but Hampton’s minimal support for Moore just might not be enough for Moore to forgive her — especially since Hampton was officially served a subpoena by the ‘Kenya Moore Hair Care’ CEO during part one of the Season 15 reunion.
Why did Kenya Moore serve Marlo Hampton a blank subpoena?
In the first section of the part-two RHOA reunion, Kenya Moore served Marlo Hampton a blank subpoena.
The explosive moment began with Andy Cohen asking Moore if her divorce with Marc Daly was final. Moore then explained that Daly filed “contempt charges” against her.
The charges against Moore state that she was allegedly preventing Daly from seeing their four-year-old daughter Brooklyn.
She was also cited for placing Brooklyn in an “unsafe environment” during an episode when Hampton kicked down the hotel door where Moore and Brooklyn were sleeping.
Though Hampton apologized to Moore during the reunion for exposing Brooklyn to violence, Moore proceeded to serve Hampton a blank subpoena. However, the real document with Hampton’s information is reported to have been given to her off-air.
Moore then continued to expose Hampton for texting her ex-husband Daly two years prior to the reunion, which Hampton denied. The texts from Hampton allegedly reveal her asking Daly for dirt on Moore.
Moore also stated that she “doesn’t want to go to jail,” so Hampton is required to attend court on Moore’s behalf and explain that Brooklyn was only put into an unsafe environment because of her.
Being that Hampton’s name was in the context of the charges filed against Moore, Hampton will legally have to appear in court as Moore’s witness. Though the two have their rifts, Hampton finished the conversation about the situation saying she will in fact attend court for Moore.
The second part of the explosive RHOA Season 15 reunion will premiere next Sunday, September 10, on BravoTV at 8 p.m. EST.
Coco Gauff Beats Karolina Muchova, 50-minute protest delay to advance to 1st US Open final
Gauff swept No. 10 seed Karolina Muchova, 6-4, 7-5 on Thursday in a semifinal match that included a 50-minute delay when a protestor glued his feet to the Arthur Ashe Stadium stands. She'll play on Saturday for what would be her first Grand Slam championship. At 19 years old, she's the youngest American finalist at the US Open since Serena Williams won her first in 1999. She'll face No. 2 seed Aryna Sabalenka in Saturday's final.
Gauff takes charge early
On a relatively brisk 85-degree night at the Billie Jean King National Tennis Center, Gauff, seed sixth, came out on fire. She broke two of Muchova's first three serves and played with the set on her racket leading, 5-1. But Muchova broke back to keep the set alive, then broke Gauff again to cut her deficit to 5-4. Gauff didn't give her a chance to tie.
With Muchova serving, Gauff took a 40-0 lead to set up triple set point. She only needed one, sweeping the final game of the set to take a 1-0 lead.
Protest forces players to take a break
Gauff picked up where she left off in the second set, taking a 1-0 lead. Then chaos ensued. Shouts could be heard from the upper reaches of the 23,000-plus capacity Arthur Ashe Stadium stands. Demonstrators who have frequently targeted Grand Slam tennis matches in 2023 prompted what initially appeared to be a brief delay. But when play didn't resume more than 15 minutes later, players left the court for the locker room.
The delay continued for more than 45 minutes — at the time inexplicably — as several police officers conferred around the place of the protest. Photos and reporting from the stands eventually confirmed why. One protestor had glued his feet to the cement stands.
Tournament director Stacey Allaster confirmed the reports in an interview with ESPN prior to the resumption of play.
"Two were removed," Allaster said of the protestors. ... "When security got there, they found that one of the protesters had physically glued themselves in their bare feet to the cement floor."
Officials eventually removed the final protestor from the stadium. Play resumed after a 50-minute delay with Gauff leading the second set, 1-0.
Muchova held on her opening serve post-delay. Gauff, likewise, was unfazed, sweeping her first serve after the demonstration. The pair each held serve until Gauff broke Muchova to take a 5-3 lead and serve for the match. But Mochova wasn't done.
Gauff wins hard-fought second set for sweep
Gauff took a 30-0 lead with a chance to serve for the match. But Muchova rallied for the break and scored 9 out of 10 points to tie the set at 5-5.
The rally would not last. Gauff held on her next serve. Muchova then double faulted on her next serve, setting up a dramatic final game saw Gauff maintained her lead and face several chances to break for the match. Finally, after taking advantage for a fifth time on a 40-shot rally, Gauff won on her fifth match point of the set.
Saturday's final will be Gauff's second in a Grand Slam after she advanced to the 2022 French Open final.
Carl Nassib, the first out gay NFL player has decided to retire
Carl Nassib, the first out gay NFL player, is retiring from the league after seven seasons.
Nassib made the “bittersweet” announcement on social media on Wednesday.
“This is a bittersweet moment for me but after seven seasons and just over 100 NFL games I am officially retiring from football to focus on my company Rayze,” Nassib wrote on Instagram.
“It really feels like just yesterday starting out as a walk-on at Penn State. Football has given me more than I ever could have imagined. I can truly hang up my helmet for the last time knowing I gave it everything I had.”
In June 2021, the defensive lineman with the Las Vegas Raiders became the first active NFL player in league history to announce that he is gay. Nassib said he agonized over the decision to make known he was gay for 15 years, adding that he was a private person and wasn’t seeking publicity.
Three months later, Nassib became the first out gay NFL footballer to play in a regular season game – a thrilling 33-27 victory against the Baltimore Ravens in which he had a decisive strip sack on Ravens quarterback Lamar Jackson in overtime.
“It was always my dream to play in the NFL, even as a walk-on, and I really feel like the luckiest guy on the planet,” he added.
The 30-year-old said he looks forward to working with the NFL on diversity, equity and inclusion matters.
“I think that I can provide a very rare and specific view of how life is for an out gay player, and I think that there are some amazing opportunities that I can also learn,” Nassib told People.
Nassib continued: “Maintaining that relationship shows that the NFL is continuing to support me. They’ve supported me so much over the last two years, and I really couldn’t have done it without that support.”
The seven-year veteran was selected by the Cleveland Browns in the third round of the 2016 NFL Draft out of Penn State. He played for the Browns from 2016 to 2017, the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in 2018, 2019 and again in 2022 and the Raiders from 2020-2021.
Nassib recorded 25.5 sacks, 187 tackles, 59 quarterback hits, four forced fumbles and one interception in his career, according to the NFL.
Danny Masterson of The “That ’70s Show” has been sentenced to 30 years to life in prison
LOS ANGELES — “That ’70s Show” star Danny Masterson was sentenced Thursday to 30 years to life in prison for raping two women more than two decades ago at his Hollywood Hills home
Masterson, 47, showed no visible emotion after Los Angeles County Superior Court Judge Charlaine Olmedo threw the book at him.
"Mr. Masterson, I know that you’re sitting here steadfast in your claims of innocence and thus no doubt feeling victimized by a justice system that has failed you," Olmedo said just before she dispatched Masterson to prison. "But Mr. Masterson, you are not the victim here."
Masterson's wife, Bijou Phillips, a model and actor who was a constant presence at her husband's trials, quickly donned a pair of sunglasses after Olmedo announced the sentence. She left the courtroom without a word.

Masterson was hit with the staggering sentence four months after he was convicted on two of the three rape counts he faced at his retrial in Los Angeles. He had been charged with raping three women — identified at trial as Jane Doe #1, Jane Doe #2 and Jane Doe #3 — from 2001 to 2003.
Masterson, a once-popular sitcom star, did not take the stand at either of his trials. He has, through his lawyers, repeatedly denied sexually assaulting the women.
Neither did Masterson make any statement at his sentencing. Instead, he sat silently as the two women he was convicted of raping, as well as a former girlfriend whose rape accusation the jury deadlocked over in May, took turns urging the judge to hit him with a harsh punishment.
“When you raped me, you stole from me,” Jane Doe #2 told the court. “That’s what rape is, a theft of the spirit.”
“You are pathetic, disturbed and completely violent,” she said. “The world is better off with you in prison.”
Jane Doe #1 said Masterson “has not shown an ounce of remorse for the pain he caused.”
"I knew he belonged behind bars for the safety of all the women he came into contact with," she said. "I am so sorry, and I’m so upset. I wish I’d reported him sooner to the police.”
Jane Doe #3 said Masterson's actions sentenced her to “viewing my body as a crime scene my entire life.”
In a post-sentencing statement, Los Angeles County District Attorney George Gascón said he applauded the women for "coming forward and participating in this process."
"My hope is that this sentence will somehow bring them peace and that their bravery will be an example to others," Gascón said. "One of my top priorities is to ensure that Los Angeles will no longer be a hunting ground for Hollywood elite who feel entitled to prey on women.”
Shawn Holley, one of Masterson's lawyers, said in a statement the legal battle is not over.
"And though we have great respect for the jury in this case and for our system of justice overall, sometimes they get it wrong," Holley said. "And that’s what happened here."
"Mr. Masterson did not commit the crimes for which he has been convicted and we and the appellate lawyers — the best and the brightest in the country — are confident that these convictions will be overturned."
Masterson’s first trial ended in November with a mistrial, with jurors leaning toward acquittal. His second trial ended with his being convicted of raping Jane Doe #1 and Jane Doe #2 but not Jane Doe #3 because the jurors could not reach a decision.
All three accusers are former members of the Church of Scientology, to which Masterson belongs.
Both trials focused unwanted attention on the controversial church, which the women have accused of trying to cover up the allegations.
At the retrial, Olmedo stressed that Scientology was not a defendant. But she allowed witnesses to testify that church officials pressured them not to talk to police about the rape allegations.
Scientology spokeswoman Karin Pouw repeatedly denied those allegations and insisted that church doctrine requires members to “abide by all the laws of the land.”
After Masterson's sentencing, the church released a statement that did not mention Masterson by name; it said the prosecution's "introduction of religion into this trial was an unprecedented violation of the First Amendment."
"The Church was not a party to this case and religion did not belong in this proceeding as Supreme Court precedent has maintained for centuries," it said.

In the preview, Leray seemingly took charge of a diner robbery while Rhymes lent his inimitable charisma to the scenario.
Meanwhile, fans have been excited about the sample featured in “Luxury Life.” The record leaned heavily into the nostalgia factor, borrowing its backbone from JAY-Z’s 1996 hit “Ain’t No N**ga.” The latter interpolated The Whole Darn Family’s ’70s cut “Seven Minutes of Funk.”
This isn’t the first time Rhymes and Leray have crossed paths. They previously teamed up for a remix of the New Jersey native’s viral hit, “Players,” which pulled its instrumental from another hip hop classic: Grandmaster Flash and The Furious Five’s “The Message.”

Britney Spears may want to escape from the drama surrounding her divorce from Sam Asghari, but she was almost caught in an embarrassing situation during her latest vacation. The pop superstar seemingly suffered a wardrobe malfunction while partying in Cabo San Lucas, Mexico.
In a video obtained by Page Six, the singer could be seen having a lot of fun at Baja Diablo on Sunday, September 3. She was dancing to the music at the bar when one of the sleeves of her dress slipped down the chest and nearly exposed her breast.
The 41-year-old seemed to be unbothered by the slip though as she continued to dance on. Moments later, she mindlessly adjusted her dress to cover herself up.
Britney was accompanied by her bodyguard and a female friend who wore a similar dress to her. The bodyguard was multitasking as he was seen taking a phone call, dancing with the singer while also watching her back.
For the outing, Britney opted for a red dress teamed with a pair of white boots. She accessorized with white-rimmed sunglasses and a black choker necklace while styling her blonde hair in a messy bun. At one point, she let her long hair down.

Addressing the dance video, she took to her Instagram page on Wednesday, September 6 to pen, "I'm embarrassed as hell !!! Like a lost idiot I heard music and horns from my car !!!"
The "Toxic" songstress claimed she wasn't aware that she was being filmed at the time. "I walked in like a deer in headlights and had no idea I was being recorded from all sides !!!" she continued recalling. "I'm only human and I have no idea what the hell is going on with my hair but I made a pit stop in Mexico !!!"
Britney then revealed her next pit stop as sharing, "I'm headed to Italy now to grab my favorite spaghetti and meat BALLS !!! I know the owner there so hopefully he can get me in through the back door."
Sam filed for divorce from Britney on August 16 after only 14 months of marriage. Addressing the separation, the Grammy winner later said in a statement, "As everyone knows, Hesam and I are no longer together … six years is a long time to be with someone so, I'm a little shocked but … I'm not here to explain why because it's honestly nobody's business. Lizzo to Be Honored With Quincy Jones Humanitarian Award By Black Music Action Coalition
Lizzo is set to receive the Quincy Jones Humanitarian Award at this year’s Black Music Action Coalition gala, with the honor coming as the singer faces a lawsuit from her former dancers accusing her of a toxic work environment.
Epic Records CEO Sylvia Rhone is also set to be honored at the event with the BMAC Clarence Avant Trailblazer Award, joining the previously announced Jermaine Dupri in receiving the honor. Rhone — who became the first Black woman to be named CEO of a major record label owned by a Fortune 500 company when she took on her role in 2019 — will receive the award named after the late music executive who served on the BMAC advisory board.
“The Black Music Action Coalition is proud to honor Lizzo and Sylvia Rhone at this year’s gala as they join a group of trailblazers who have made immense impact within the music industry and beyond,” said BMAC co-founder Willie “Prophet” Stiggers. “We applaud their dedication to pushing boundaries, amplifying Black voices and crashing through those glass ceilings creating space for Black women.”
The announcement of Lizzo’s honor comes just a month after the entertainer was sued — alongside her production company Big Grrrl Big Touring Inc. and dance team captain Shirlene Quigley — by a trio of former dancers who allege that they were subjected to religious and racial harassment, disability discrimination, assault and false imprisonment. Two days after the complaint was filed, Lizzo posted a lengthy statement on Instagram denying the allegations. “I am not here to be looked at as a victim, but I also know that I am not the villain that people and the media have portrayed me to be these last few days,” wrote the Grammy-winning singer. “There is nothing I take more seriously than the respect we deserve as women in the world.”
This year’s BMAC gala, recognizing individuals and organizations who have affected positive change and helped improve equity within the community, is set to take place Sept. 21 at The Beverly Hilton and will be hosted by entertainment and lifestyle specialist Kenny Burns. 'Drag Race' Alum Latrice Royale Joins 'We're Here' as New Host for Season Four!
On Wednesday (September 6), showrunners Stephen Warren and Johnnie Ingram announced that the 51-year-old drag performer will be joining the hosting squad of the HBO series for the upcoming fourth season.
“In this increasingly hostile political climate, we are grateful to HBO for their dedication to telling LGBTQ+ stories that meet the moment and document our history,” the showrunners shared in a statement with Variety. “We are thrilled to expand our drag family and give much-needed love to the people on the front lines of hate.”
Back in July, it was announced that after hosting the first three seasons, Bob the Drag Queen, Eureka O’Hara, and Shangela would not be returning for the fourth season.

Bruce Springsteen Postpones All Tour Dates in September to Treat Symptoms of Peptic Ulcer Disease
Bruce Springsteen has shared some sad news with fans. On Wednesday (September 6), the 73-year-old entertainer announced that he was postponing all September dates on his 2023 Springsteen E Street Band Tour as he is treated for symptoms of peptic ulcer disease.
“Bruce Springsteen and The E Street Band have postponed all performances currently scheduled for September 2023, beginning with tomorrow’s show scheduled for the JMA Wireless Dome in Syracuse, N.Y,” read a statement on Bruce‘s website.
“Mr. Springsteen is being treated for symptoms of peptic ulcer disease and the decision of his medical advisors is that he should postpone the remainder of his September shows,” the statement added.
Peptic ulcers are “open sores that develop on the inside lining of your stomach and the upper portion of your small intestine. The most common symptom of a peptic ulcer is stomach pain,” according to the Mayo Clinic.
Bruce also shared a message after putting his tour on pause.
“Over here on E Street, we’re heartbroken to have to postpone these shows. First, apologies to our fabulous Philly fans who we missed a few weeks ago. We’ll be back to pick these shows up and then some,” Bruce shared. “Thank you for your understanding and support. We’ve been having a blast at our U.S. shows and we’re looking forward to more great times. We’ll be back soon. Love and God bless all.”

Eddie Murphy’s First Holiday Movie Coming to Prime Video in December
Directed by Reginald Hudlin, “Candy Cane Lane” follows Murphy as a man on a mission to win his neighborhood’s annual Christmas home decoration contest.
“After Chris (Murphy) inadvertently makes a deal with a mischievous elf named Pepper (Jillian Bell) to better his chances of winning, she casts a magic spell that brings the 12 Days of Christmas to life, and wreaks havoc on the whole town,” per the film synopsis. “At the risk of ruining the holidays for his family, Chris, his wife Carol (Tracee Ellis Ross), and their three children must race against the clock to break Pepper’s spell, battle deviously magical characters, and save Christmas for everyone.”
Ross stars as Chris’s wife, Carol. The cast also includes Thaddeus J. Mixson, Ken Marino, Nick Offerman, Robin Thede, Chris Redd, Genneya Walton, Madison Thomas, D.C. Young Fly, Anjelah Johnson-Reyes, and Nancy Lenehan.
“I can’t wait for the world to see ‘Candy Cane Lane,’” Hudlin said in a statement. “I’ve wanted to make a Christmas movie my whole life, but I wanted to do something fresh and surprising. *OWN: Oprah Winfrey Network will premiere a six-part docuseries, “Rebuilding Black Wall Street,” hosted by Morris Chestnut (The Best Man, Rosewood, Boyz n the Hood), who will trace the century-long impact of the 1921 Tulsa Massacre and chronicle the resilient community rebuilding on Friday, September 29 at 9PM ET/8PM CST.
Tulsa’s Greenwood District, better known as Black Wall Street where Black business leaders, homeowners, and civic leaders thrived. On May 31, 1921, and into the next day, a mob destroyed that district in what has been called the single most horrific incident of racial terrorism since slavery. An estimated 300 people were killed, more than 1,200 homes destroyed, and at least 60 businesses and community buildings burned to the ground.
Today, the Greenwood District is a community rebuilding, a journey of strength and joy examined in this unique uplifting renovation docuseries. Over the course of six episodes, Chestnut and build teams, led by designers Jon Pierre and Mary Tjon-Joe-Pin (Two Steps Home), guide viewers through Greenwood’s rich history and the personal journeys of those featured – many of whom are the descendants of original Black Wall Street residents. A Maryland police officer has been suspended for kissing and getting into the backseat of his patrol car with his alleged mistress.
The viral video swept the internet, showing the officer, identified as Francesco Marlett, kissing a woman before the two opened the rear door of his work vehicle. They both get into the backseat and what occurred in those moments can be left to the imagination. The video began circulating on TikTok Monday before making its way to other social media platforms, gaining millions of views and shares. The next day, the Prince George’s County Police Department announced that Marlett’s duties were being halted. However, they are not the only ones bashing him for his mid-day quickie.
Once the clip spread like wildfire, The Daily Mail reported on a woman claiming to be Marlett’s wife named Paula went viral on Facebook, providing more context to the video. She identified the female in the tape as his side chick, Virginia. Paula explained that Marlett had been creeping around with Virginia for years. The wife thanked everyone for their support but had spicy words for the supposed girlfriend.
“I love you all except for you, Virginia. You can rot in hell b****,” Paula wrote before deactivating her profile.
Virginia fired back, accusing Paula of being the cheater during her marriage to Marlett. She also slammed the disgruntled wife for not telling the entire truth. Nevertheless, Virginia made it clear that she would not be coming off of her relationship with Marlett anytime soon.
“Please don’t be mad at me because your husband wants me,” Virginia wrote. It appears her Facebook has gone dark as well.
