Shaw’s own comments hit an AOC nerve when she recalled her origins story, centered around a customer in a local Philadelphia, PA clothing store, who mistook her for a mannequin.
“She jumped when I moved,” Shaw says, laughing again. “Then she told me I should go to Paris. ‘They will understand you there,’ she said, and then left the store, like a ghost. That woman put the idea in my head. After that I got fixated on Paris and the Eiffel Tower. Now I can see it from my window.”
Debra Shaw narrates her own story: “[The year] 1997 was a big one for me. That was the year I became touched by all the top designers — Lagerfeld, Versace, Valentino, Galliano at Dior and Lee McQueen at Givenchy. It was a season of firsts, and also my first time in American and Italian Vogue.”

The women who hold the peaches got right into the dirt of it all when newbie Courtney Rhodes was brought into the mix, as BravoTV executive Andy Cohen asked her what she knew about Drew Sidora and Ralph Pittman’s crumbling relationship.
Though Rhodes wasn’t part of many episodes on this Season of RHOA, she had quite a bit to say about Sidora, calling her a “compulsive liar” for denying her affair with Ty Young before divorcing Pittman.

Sidora and Pittman have been married since 2014 and share two children. Though their relationship seemed stable the first two Seasons Sidora was on RHOA, Season 15 was far from that.
As of late, the two have revealed that they don’t sleep in the same bedroom together. Not to mention the alleged cheating that Pittman has been accused of.
Though Pittman has been known as a cheater for some time, Sidora has recently been accused of the same, as RHOA castmates have picked up on her alleged feelings for WNBA player Ty Young.
So when it came time for the reunion, of course, questions about Sidora’s affair with Young were brought up, as Cohen asked Rhodes, “Courtney, it sounded like you and Ralph talked a lot about Drew’s alleged affair before it hit the blogs, what did he tell you?”
Rhodes then responded, “I just know he was really hurt by it and how she was projecting on him exactly what she was doing.” Cohen then asked Rhodes, “Do you believe Drew had this affair?”
To which Rhodes responded, “I do, absolutely.” However, Sidora wasn’t about to take the disrespect on her name, as she then responded to the allegation, “Courtney doesn’t know anything about me and Ralph. He’s been coaching her the whole Season because a lot of things that she’s said have been what Ralph has said.”
As the conversation around Sidora’s affair with Young continued, ladies like Kandi Burruss agreed with Rhodes that Sidora does in fact have a relationship with Young after Sidora revealed to her that Young would be her “girl crush.”
Rhodes then called Sidora a “compulsive liar” when Sidora said she wouldn’t reveal more details about her nine-year marriage with Pittman.
Sheree Whitfield then weighed in on the topic, saying that she had a source who contacted her with further proof of Sidora’s affair with Young. Whitfield proceeded to expose “private messages” between Sidora and Young by showing Cohen and the RHOA ladies their texts between each other.
Though the conversation was eventually able to shift to other topics, Pittman was later welcomed to the reunion when Sidora and he talked about their failing marriage. Sure, Cohen was hopeful to help the two reconcile during the RHOA Season 15 reunion, but the likelihood of peace between Sidora and Pittman was not high, as they continued to argue about the cheating allegations from both sides.

#HipHopNews: Megan Thee Stallion Reportedly Pulls Out Of 2023 Global Citizen Festival
“Due to an unforeseen scheduling conflict, Megan Thee Stallion will no longer be available to perform at the 2023 Global Citizen Festival,” an event spokesperson told Billboard. While details remain scant, and representatives for the rapper have yet to respond to inquiries regarding the change, the news undoubtedly disappointed many fans eager to see the artist live.
The annual event convenes leaders from across the globe to pledge actions toward climate change, gender equity, and hunger eradication. According to the organization’s official website, “For the first time in a generation, the number of people living in extreme poverty is rising. The impacts of the climate crisis on the Global South, the inequities affecting women and girls around the world, the global hunger crisis, and the shrinking of civic space around the world; such colossal issues require a worldwide movement of people demanding change.”
Despite the hiccup, New York City’s Central Park is gearing up to host an eclectic group of artists on Sept. 23. Recently added to the lineup are Anitta and Jung Kook of BTS fame, the latter of whom collaborated with Latto on “Seven” earlier this year.
While Megan pulling out of the event means one less opportunity to witness the rapper in the tri-state area, fans still have the 2023 MTV VMAs to look forward to. The “Bongos” collaborator is set to hit the stage in New Jersey’s Prudential Center alongside Cardi B on Sept. 12.
With Nicki Minaj hosting the award show, there’s also the likely chance that Meg and Cardi will perform their 2020 chart-topper, “WAP.”

The last Moon Person has landed at the 2023 MTV Video Music Awards.
Taylor Swift emerged the biggest winner of the night, earning nine awards, including Video of the Year, Song of the Year, and Best Pop, Best Direction, Best Cinematography, and Best Visual Effects all for "Anti-Hero," Album of the Year for Midnights, plus Artist of the Year and Show of the Summer.
She became the first artist to win Video of the Year two years in a row, and extended her record for the most wins in that category to four, after previously winning for "Bad Blood," "You Need to Calm Down," and "All Too Well: The Short Film."
Swift's first award of the night was handed out by the reunited members of NSYNC, Justin Timberlake, Lance Bass, JC Chasez, Joey Fatone, and Chris Kirkpatrick. "You guys are pop personified so to receive this from your golden pop hands is really, it's too much," she told the boy banders.
After Lil Wayne opened the show at Prudential Center in Newark, N.J., Olivia Rodrigo stunned the crowd with a performance of her singles "Vampire" and "Get Him Back," featuring an intentional stage glitch that alarmed some members of the audience. Later, Demi Lovato performed a rockified medley of old hits like "Cool for the Summer" and "Sorry Not Sorry" ahead of her upcoming album Revamped.
Meanwhile, Cardi B and Megan Thee Stallion performed their new single "Bongos" for the first time, complete with a fittingly percussive backing band. Doja Cat also performed three songs from her upcoming album Scarlet — "Attention," "Paint the Town Red," and "Demons — in one of the most electrifying performances of the evening.
Before Wyclef Jean presented her with the Video Vanguard Award, Shakira performed a dazzling medley of some of her biggest hits, including "Hips Don't Lie," "She Wolf," and "TQG." And Sean "Diddy" Combs also performed an impressive medley of some of his most timeless songs, including "I'll Be Missing You," "It's All About the Benjamins," and "Bad Boy for Life" before Mary J. Blige presented him with the Global Icon Award.
Host Nicki Minaj also delivered an energetic performance, singing "Last Time I Saw You" and debuted new material from her upcoming album Pink Friday 2. Later, Fall Out Boy performed their updated version of Billy Joel's "We Didn't Start the Fire," and Tomorrow X Together and Anitta premiered their new single "Back for More."
Near the end of the show, Grandmaster Flash and the Furious Five, Minaj, Wayne, LL Cool J, and DMC celebrated 50 years of hip-hop with a timeless medley.
The night's presenters also included Ice Spice, Sabrina Carpenter, Emily Ratajkowski, Jared Leto, French Montana, and Rita Ora.
Going into the night, Swift led the nominations pool with 11, while SZA had eight, and Blackpink, Doja Cat, Miley Cyrus, Minaj, and Rodrigo each had six.

Illinois appeals court hears arguments on Jussie Smollett request to toss convictions
Smollett, foregoing his usual three-piece suits in favor of a casual beige jacket and blue jeans, slipped into court for the hour-long oral arguments Tuesday and sat on spectator benches. He seemed to listen intently, leaning forward to follow the debate before the three-judge panel.
Smollett, 41, didn’t speak to reporters after the hearing, and Chicago TV station WGN showed footage of him from behind leaving the court building via an alley, wearing a hat and different coat.
“Public outrage against the defendant cannot overrule the rule of law,” one of his lawyers, Nenye Uche, told the panel — referring to how public perception of Smollett turned after police said he created a crime and wasn’t a victim of one.

Uche added that many of the issues surrounding the appeal and Smollett’s prosecution boil down to the question: “Is it fair?”
If the appeal before the Chicago-based First District Appellate Court fails, Smollett will have to finish a 150-day stint in jail that his trial judge ordered during his 2022 sentencing. Smollett spent just six days in jail before his release pending the outcome of the appeal. A ruling is expected to take several weeks.
Among a long list of arguments in Smollett’s 76-page written appeal is that his 2021 trial violated his Fifth Amendment protections against double jeopardy — being punished for the same crime twice. It says he already performed community service and forfeited a $10,000 bond as part of a 2019 deal with the Cook County State’s Attorney’s Office to drop the initial charges.
That issue was a focus of Tuesday’s oral arguments.
Smollett, who is Black and gay, was the target of a racist justice system and people playing politics, Uche told reporters last year. Uche criticized special prosecutor Dan Webb’s decision to press for new charges in 2020. He also called the trial judge’s sentence excessive for a low-level felony.
In the appeal, Smollett’s legal team says chief prosecutor Kim Foxx’s office used proper discretion to drop the original charges four years ago.
“If Mr. Smollett’s convictions are allowed to stand, this case will set a dangerous precedent by giving prosecutors a second bite at the apple any time there is dissatisfaction with another prosecutor’s exercise of discretion,” the appeal says.
Sean Wieber, an attorney representing the special prosecutor, told the court the way the Foxx’s office went about dismissing the charges left open the possibility of recharging Smollett without violating protections against double jeopardy.
It is well established, Wieber said, that double jeopardy arises in unambiguous, specific circumstances — none of which applied to Smollett. If a defendant hasn’t gone to trial and has never pleaded guilty, it’s typically not double jeopardy if the defendant is indicted a second time on the same charges.
“Illinois law is crystal clear. ... It’s Law School 101,” he said about the criteria.
Smollett has not only never pleaded guilty, Wieber noted, but “Mr. Smollett has never made any statement that he accepts guilt.”
In January 2019, during a bitterly cold day in Chicago, Smollett reported to police that he was the victim of a racist and homophobic attack by two men wearing ski masks. The manhunt for the attackers soon turned into an investigation of Smollett himself, leading to his arrest on charges that he’d orchestrated the attack himself.
Authorities said Smollett paid two men he knew from work on the TV show “Empire” to stage the attack. Prosecutors said he told them what racist and homophobic slurs to shout, and to yell that Smollett was in “MAGA Country,” a reference to the campaign slogan of Donald Trump’s presidential campaign.
A jury convicted Smollett in 2021 on five felony counts of disorderly conduct — the charge filed when a person lies to police. He was acquitted on a sixth count.
In 2022, Cook County Judge James Linn sentenced Smollett to 30 months of felony probation, with 150 days served in Cook County Jail, and ordered that he pay $120,106 in restitution to the city of Chicago and a $25,000 fine.
As he sentenced Smollett, Judge Linn excoriated him as a narcissist and pronounced himself astounded by Smollett’s actions given the actor’s multiracial family background and ties to social justice work.
During sentencing and as Smollett was led away to jail, he shouted that he was innocent, warning the judge that he was not suicidal and if he died in custody it was somebody else who would have taken his life.

The singer said that she "stopped in 2018" because she felt like she was "hiding."
Grande said that now, she wants to "see my well-earned cry lines and smile lines."

"I feel like my relationship to beauty has changed so much over the years, especially because I started so young," Grande, 30, said in a video for Vogue's beauty secrets series, released on Tuesday.
"Being exposed to so many voices at a young age, especially when people have things to say about your appearance, it's really hard to know what's worth hearing and not," she continued. "But when you're 17, you don't know that yet."
Grande, who rose to fame as a teenager playing Cat Valentine on the Nickelodeon series "Victorious," has since become a Grammy-winning musician. She's also a successful creator in the beauty world, with multiple best-selling fragrances and a cosmetics brand called r.e.m. beauty, launched in 2021.
The musician said that over the years, she "used makeup as a disguise or as something to hide behind." This included fuller hair and thicker eyeliner, she said.
"And that can be so beautiful at times and I still do have love for it and appreciation for it," Grande added. "But I think as I get older, I don't love that being the intention behind it anymore. I think of it as self-expression now, and accentuating what is here."
As Grande began applying her lip products, she said: "I've had a ton of lip filler over the years and Botox."
Grande explained why she chose to get enhancements and what made her want to give them up.
"I stopped in 2018 because I just felt so... too much," she said. "I just felt like hiding, you know?"
While speaking, the Grammy-winning singer's voice began faltering.
"Didn't expect to get emotional," she said.
"For a long time, beauty was about hiding for me, and now I feel like maybe it's not," Grande continued.
"Since I stopped getting fillers and Botox — and maybe I'll start again one day, I don't know, to each their own. Whatever makes you feel beautiful, I do support," she said. "But I know for me, I was just like, 'Oh, I wanna see my well-earned cry lines and smile lines.'"
Grande said that she wants to embrace the aging process.
"I hope my smile lines get deeper and deeper, and I laugh more and more," she said. "I just think aging can be such a beautiful thing."
The "Sweetener" singer also acknowledged that she may still "get a face-lift in 10 years," but she wanted to be transparent about her current relationship with beauty.
"These are just thoughts that I feel like we should be able to discuss," she said. "If we're sitting here talking about beauty secrets, fuck it, let's lay it all out there."

Talking Heads Concert Film ‘Stop Making Sense’ Becomes Biggest Imax Live Event Screening Ever
On Monday night, the Talking Heads concert film earned $640,839 and sold out 25 screens across 165 Imax locations in North America. That included a world premiere at the Scotiabank Theatre as part of the Toronto Film Festival.
A24’s 4K restoration of Demme’s 1984 concert film also played at the BFI IMAX in London. The TIFF world premiere was followed by a Q&A live-streamed from the Canadian festival and moderated by filmmaker Spike Lee, who directed the concert film David Byrne’s American Utopia, which bowed in Toronto three years ago.
All four original band members were on hand in Toronto: David Byrne, Tina Weymouth, Chris Frantz, and Jerry Harrison.
“The unforgettable Stop Making Sense looks and sounds even more incredible in Imax, and we’re excited to share this event with TIFF and our audiences everywhere,’ Rich Gelfond, CEO of Imax, said in a statement. The film technologies company has pursued new revenue streams from concerts, celebrity Q&As and other showings via its Imax Live network.
A24 acquired the Talking Heads concert film and completed a 4K restoration ahead of a theatrical run to kick off exclusively in Imax theatres on Sept. 22 and in theaters everywhere on Sept. 29. Stop Making Sense was directed by the late Jonathan Demme and is produced by Gary Goetzman.
The Imax Live events come as consumers view more movies in the home, and Imax is pivoting to more exclusive film screenings, with stars and filmmakers taking part in live question-and-answer sessions.
In January 2022, Peter Jackson’s Disney+ documentary The Beatles: Get Back was edited down and played in nearly 70 Imax theaters across North America and at the BFI Theatre in London. That was followed by the three-time Oscar-winning Lord of the Rings director taking questions from the Imax audience.
Kathy Griffin Makes Searing Point About Celebs Supporting Their 'Buddy' Danny Masterson
Kathy Griffin reflected on what she called a “haunting” personal experience to highlight why people are so disgusted with Mila Kunis and Ashton Kutcher’s support for Danny Masterson.
In a video recently published to her TikTok account, the comedian said that she was also close with someone who ended up being a sexual predator.
“My brother, who’s now dead ― his name was Ken Griffin ― was a pedophile,” Griffin said. “It was a horrible, horrible thing, and I tried to get him caught. Now, this was my brother, so I don’t want to hear about Ashton and Mila and Giovanni Ribisi, and people that feel like they had to stick up for Danny Masterson because he was their ‘bro,’ he was their ‘buddy.’ This was my own brother.”
Last week, Masterson was sentenced to 30 years to life in prison for raping two women at his Hollywood Hills home in the early 2000s. Soon after news of his sentencing broke, it was reported that Kutcher and Kunis, who co-starred on “That ’70s Show” with Masterson, had written letters asking the judge for leniency in his sentencing.
Kutcher and Kunis, who are married, received widespread backlash for writing the letters, and they posted an odd video trying to explain their actions. But their response, which didn’t include an actual apology, only resulted in even more public scorn.
Griffin talked about how she responded to her brother’s alleged crimes to illustrate why she agrees with the avalanche of criticism Kutcher and Kunis are now receiving.
Griffin said in her TikTok that two of her brother’s girlfriends “confessed” to her that her brother had “physically abused them very violently.”
“My brother was a super of a building, and that’s how he gained access to his victims,” Griffin said. “He was the manager of an apartment building in Hollywood, so he had keys to all the units.”
She said that by taking advantage of his access, her brother “allegedly ― because he never went to prison for it, he went to prison for something else ― molested a boy and a girl” who lived in the building he managed.
Griffin said she called the Los Angeles police about Ken’s alleged assaults twice, but to no avail. According to Griffin, police told her that they couldn’t do anything about her reports unless “your brother personally walks into the station and confesses, or if one of the kids confesses and goes to authorities.”
“And both times, I said: ‘You think a 10-year-old is going to walk into the precinct on Bronson or whatever, and ask for help? It doesn’t work that way in this crime,’” she said. “And so nothing happened.”
Griffin said that Ken eventually got arrested for a different crime, but that her decision to report her brother to the police badly damaged her relationship with her family.
“This has been something that caused a giant rift within my family,” Griffin said. “For many years, I was shunned from my own family, because I was trying to get my brother Ken arrested.”
“I was in and out of my family,” she continued. “Sometimes they would write me letters saying I’m not a Griffin anymore, and all this nonsense.”
Still, Griffin said, being ostracized by her family was nothing compared to the knowledge that she never succeeded in getting her brother arrested.
“It’s always haunted me that I could never do anything about it,” Griffin said. “And I think about those children every day.”
Griffin said the point of her TikTok is that she feels that “blood was not thicker than water in my case.”
“And if you know that somebody is committing [sexual assault], you should do something if you can,” she said. “My God, at least try.”
According to “Good Morning America,” more than 50 people wrote letters to the court in support of Masterson ― including Debra Jo Rupp and Kurtwood Smith, who played Kitty and Red Forman on “That ’70s Show,” as well as actors William Baldwin, Giovanni Ribisi and Masterson’s wife, Bijou Phillips Masterson, per People.
Wendy Williams’ Ex-Husband Scores Legal Victory in $10M Lawsuit Against Show Producers
*Wendy Williams’ ex-husband Kevin Hunter is taking legal action against Debmar-Mercury, the producers of “The Wendy Williams Show.”
We reported previously that Hunter is suing the production company’s founders Ira Bernstein and Mort Marcus for wrongful termination. In 2019, he was fired as executive producer on his ex-wife’s daytime talk show amid reports that he fathered a child with his mistress (Sabrina Hudson). Williams filed for divorce and Hunter said his employment status changed days later, PEOPLE reports.
Hunter claims he was fired “on the basis of his marital status, which is barred by the New York City Human Rights Law.”
According to RadarOnline, he recently scored a major win in his court battle after a New York federal judge ruled against Debmar-Mercury’s attempt to dismiss his lawsuit.
As The Jasmine Brand reports, the suit read, “The termination of [Kevin] was based strictly upon [Kevin’s] marital status and his impending divorce to the Show’s host, ignoring all of the contributions that [Kevin] made to make the Show a success.”
The lawsuit alleges …“[Kevin] was used to being behind the scenes of Williams’ prior ventures and used his business knowledge and street smarts to negotiate a significant financial increase from the initial contract being offered to Williams.”
In court documents obtained by People, Hunter claims he received a notice from Bernstein informing him that his firing was “effective immediately,” after Williams filed for divorce in April 2019.
“The termination of Plaintiff was based strictly upon Plaintiff’s marital status and his impending divorce to the Show’s host, ignoring all of the contributions that Plaintiff made to make the Show a success,” the filing states. “As a result of Defendants’ aforesaid actions and the breach of their agreement with Hunter, the Defendants have been unjustly enriched from Plaintiff’s Executive Producer contributions to the Show, as well as enduring Product Integrations engagements Plaintiff has brought to the Show and that the Show has retained.”
Last year it was announced that “The Wendy Williams Show” would be ending and replaced with Sherri Shepherd’s new daytime talk show simply titled “Sherri.”
As Radar reports, Debmar-Mercury denied discriminating against Hunter and rejects his wrongful termination allegation.
A hearing for the case is set for later this month, according to RadarOnline.
