Sen. Debbie Stabenow announces she won't seek re-election in 2024
Sen. Debbie Stabenow, D-Mich., announced Thursday that she won't seek re-election in 2024, setting the stage for a competitive Senate race in a key battleground state during a presidential election year.

In a statement, Stabenow, 72, said she’s been “inspired by a new generation of leaders” to “pass the torch in the U.S. Senate.” She said she will fulfill her current six-year term through Jan. 3, 2025.

She noted she blazed trails by "being the ‘first’ woman to reach historic milestones as an elected official, including the honor of being the first woman from Michigan elected to the U.S. Senate. But I have always believed it’s not enough to be the ‘first’ unless there is a ‘second’ and a ‘third’…"

For the next two years, she said she will be intensely focused on continuing her work representing Michiganders including shepherding the next five-year farm bill.

As for life after Congress, Stabenow said, "When my term ends, I intend to begin a new chapter in my life that includes continuing to serve our State outside of elected office while spending precious time with my amazing 96-year-old mom and my wonderful family."

Stabenow’s retirement opens the seat up for a deep Democratic bench in Michigan. Democrats, including Gov. Gretchen Whitmer, were re-elected to several statewide offices in November. Others whose names will be in the mix: Lt. Gov. Garlin Gilchrist, Secretary of State Jocelyn Benson, Attorney General Dana Nessel and state Sen. Mallory McMorrow, who gained a national following last year after going viral with her pushback against anti-LGBTQ rhetoric. Democratic U.S. Reps. Elissa Slotkin and Haley Stevens also could be eyeing promotions.

A Whitmer spokesperson said the governor will not seek the seat.
A Democratic strategist familiar with Gilchrist's thinking told NBC News that the lieutenant governor is not ruling out a bid. McMorrow issued a statement praising Stabenow as a "trailblazer" but did not address whether she was interested in the job. Slotkin, meanwhile, is "seriously considering" a Senate run, a source familiar with her thinking told NBC News.

Early speculation is also likely to focus intensely on U.S. Transportation Secretary Pete Buttigieg, the former mayor of South Bend, Indiana, who moved to Michigan after his unsuccessful 2020 presidential campaign. Buttigieg’s advisers have long downplayed the significance of his newly established residency, noting that the secretary’s in-laws live in the state and that he and his husband wanted to be close to family as they raised their children.

"I am fully focused on serving the president in my role as Secretary of Transportation, and not seeking any other job," Buttigieg added. "We are hard at work to rebuild the nation’s infrastructure, grow the economy, and create good-paying jobs."

On the Republican side, Rep.-elect John James, who lost to Stabenow in 2018 and won a House seat in November, is likely to be mentioned as a prospect, as are other Republicans in the state's legislature and congressional delegation. Tudor Dixon, who lost to Whitmer in last year's race for governor, could be another possibility, along with other far-right Republicans who failed in their attempts to win statewide office in 2022.

Stabenow has served in the Senate since 2001 and previously served in the House from 1997 until her career began in the upper chamber. Before coming to Congress, she also served in both the Michigan House and Senate.

She holds several Democratic leadership roles including Senate Democratic Policy Committee chair and chair of the Senate Agriculture Committee.
She has served alongside Sen. Gary Peters, D-Mich., since he came to Congress in 2015.

Stabenow is among 21 Senate Democrats whose terms expire in 2025. Democrats face an uphill climb to hold onto the majority in the next election

Damar Hamlin's condition is improving Hamlin is on a ventilator and can't speak, but he is communicating in writing
Buffalo Bills safety Damar Hamlin is still on a ventilator, his doctors said on Thursday. Hamlin is able to communicate in writing, but is not speaking.

“He is unable to speak with us yet as he still has a breathing tube in and we're still assisting him with ventilation,” Dr. Timothy Pritts of UC Health said.
When he began to wake up, the first question he wrote on a clipboard was, “Did we win?”

UC Health Dr. William Knight said the immediate response following Hamlin’s collapse made a difference in how he is recovering.

“The fact that he had highly trained professionals from the Buffalo Bills in addition to having paramedics, emergency physicians, respiratory therapists, all right at his bedside in less than a minute from the collapse — that speaks to that ability that demonstrates that he had good perfusion to his brain that led to no identifiable neurologic deficit,” Knight said.
The medical team at the University of Cincinnati Medical Center has been moved by the outpouring of support for Buffalo Bills player Damar Hamlin, a doctor said Thursday.

"It's been very powerful," said Dr. William Knight, who serves as the lead physician and professor of emergency medicine at UC Health.

"We have been surrounded by a great ... team. Dr. (Timothy) Pritts and I have been able to get to know this amazing family and this amazing organization, in a matter of 48 hours having friends and having family," Knight said.

"But then looking outside, I mean all I have to do is look over my left shoulder, and I see vigils and posters and well-wishers, and the food that has showed up at the hospital for the support for the family, and for the emergency department and for the surgical ICU team," the doctor continued.

"It doesn't take long to look outside and to see the lights, the blue and the red around the city of Cincinnati, the support from local restaurants, the support from the fans and just people who are concerned," the doctor said.
Asked if Hamlin was aware of the outpouring of support, both doctors speaking to the media replied in unison: "He's learning it today."

RHOA: Kenya Moore Says She Has the 'World's Longest Divorce' Nearly 2 Years After Filing
Kenya Moore is ready to officially move on from her marriage to Marc Daly.
On Wednesday's episode of Watch What Happens Live, The Real Housewives of Atlanta and Special Forces: World's Toughest Test star revealed she hopes her divorce will be finalized "soon."

"The world's longest divorce," Moore, 51, told host Andy Cohen about the nearly two years that have passed since her split from Daly in May 2021.
"Well, Bethenny [Frankel] has that title but you're coming close," responded Cohen, 54, referring to The Real Housewives of New York City alum's acrimonious divorce from Jason Hoppy.

Kenya Moore and Marc Daly attend the 26th annual Elton John AIDS Foundation's Academy Awards
On the RHOA reunion in September, Moore confirmed she was "still not divorced."
Moore said the holdup to divorce didn't come down to alimony or child support: "He's not asking for anything at this point. It's just at a standstill so until we get a trial date or settle, it's still going to go on."

Despite still being married, Moore said her pending divorce wasn't holding her back from meeting someone new.
"I'm definitely doing some group dating and have people pursuing me, but nothing serious yet," she shared.

Moore and Daly — who share daughter, Brooklyn, 4 — first wed in June 2017. Less than a year later, in September 2019, they split for the first time. Though they seemed to briefly rekindle their romance in February 2020, Daly confirmed in January 2021 that the couple had split once again.

That May, Moore filed for divorce, court documents stating that she has been living in a "bonafide state of separation" since September 2019, and that their marriage was "irretrievably broken." since September 2019.

Last May, Moore also expressed her frustration around the stalled split on WWHL, noting the delay wasn't on her end. "I feel like it's been going on for years, too," Moore said at the time. "I want it to be over. The hold-up is on the other side."

"Get me free!" she added. "Get me free!"

Stephen "tWitch" Boss' Family Honors Late Star During Private Service
Nearly a month after the 40-year-old's death, his loved ones gathered for a private ceremony Jan. 4, a source close to his family told E! News, "A larger celebration of life for the friends the Stephen considers family will be put together in the future."

On Dec. 13, the Ellen DeGeneres Show DJ died by suicide. His wife Allison Holker—they share kids Weslie, 14, Maddox, 6, and Zaia, 3—mourning the devastating loss in a beautiful tribute.

"Stephen lit up every room he stepped into," Holker had said in a statement at the time. "He valued family, friends and community above all else and leading with love and light was everything to him. He was the backbone of our family, the best husband and father, and an inspiration to his fans...To say he left a legacy would be an understatement, and his positive impact will continue to be felt."

She concluded the note with a message to her husband of nine years: "Stephen, we love you, we miss you, and I will always save the last dance for you."
As she grieves, the dancer has understandably kept a low profile. However, on Dec. 21, she returned to Instagram with a throwback selfie of her and Boss. "My ONE and ONLY," she wrote. "Oh how my heart aches. We miss you so much."

The impact of his loss has been felt by everyone he touched. While Justin Timberlake noted Boss "always lit everything up," Channing Tatum shared, "I'll see you again my friend."

For her part, Ellen DeGeneres is focusing on the happiness he offered so many. "Right now what I want to do is remember all the love and laughter I had with tWitch," she shared on Instagram Dec. 15. "He brought so much joy to my life. I know he brought joy to yours too. I'm going to be sharing some of my favorite moments with him. If you want to you can also share yours."

Keke Palmer Shares Photos From Her Babymoon All While “Taking It Easy”
Keke Palmer has decided to bring in the new year with the theme of “rest.” The mommy-to-be recently went on a tropical “babymoon” with her boyfriend Darius Jackson and gave herself praise for resting amid her busy career.

“happy new year. baby moon was in full affect,” she wrote under a carousel of photos showing off her baby bump and feeding Koi fish from a dinner table.

“I’m really proud of myself for resting this trip. i am antsy by nature,” she added. “i love having a schedule, even on vacation. i learned to at least schedule things leisurely so i have something to complete that’s on brand with the theme of the season. which is, rest. i will refrain from saying “soft girl life” or whatever new label the folks are using. && instead i’ll just say that for me the theme is rest because, i can.”

Speaking to having to “sacrifice” for “many seasons,” the actress credited her parents for modeling the hard life-skill.

“i have spent many seasons sacrificing and i am quite fine with that, i learned that from my father. from both my parents, but my dad takes the cake,” she shared. “i want to be just like him. his life is full and he has given so much. i don’t think giving or sacrificing are bad things, it’s who i am and that will never change. but every season we are meant to embrace something new.”

The KeyTV creator and entrepreneur starred in Jordan Peele’s film Nope last July. Five months later, the 29-year-old announced her pregnancy on live TV during her co-hosting of Saturday Night Live. With so much happening for the Illinois-native, she deemed her growing family as a reason to “take it easy.”

“this season i am going to learn how to really take it easy,” Palmer continued to write. “how to go slow(or slower than i have which is speedy for the average) because it definitely doesn’t mean my drive and passion will end, just transform and evolve through a different tool. how will channeling my skill through this pov make me sharper?”

She added, “the point is. everything that’s going to come is already in motion. all i have to do is enjoy. be grateful and reap the benefits of those that came before me, all the sacrifices, all the prayers and all the power to be intentional and at EASE.”
Admitting to “sharing a lot” of her personal feelings, Keke did share that she has been feeling her baby moving in her womb. She called the feeling “weirdddddd.”

“wow. i shared a lot. i might delete this,” she said. “idk why, but cringeeee. love my crocs @sza — && btw this baby moving thing is weirdddddd. slide four is how i feel about that.”

Romanian police seized 11 luxury cars from Andrew Tate and his brother after their arrest on sex-trafficking charges
Authorities in Romania seized 11 cars from Andrew Tate and his brother Tristan after they were arrested, an official confirmed to Insider.
The cars were taken in the wake of their arrest on December 29 on allegations of human-trafficking and exploiting women to produce porn.
Ramona Bolla, a spokesperson for Romania's DIICOT investigations agency, confirmed the car seizures to Insider on Wednesday.

She said they were being held to "sustain the cost of the investigation" into Tate, and that they would also be collateral to fund any payments awards to their alleged victims.
Bolla could not immediately confirm the makes and models of the cars. But the Romanian news outlet Gândul published photos it said showed the seized cars.

They included a Rolls-Royce Wraith from the carmakers Black Badge range and an Aston Martin Vanquish S Ultimate. Per the car site TopGear.com, a Wraith costs at least $300,000 and a Vanquish S around $250,000.

The Rolls-Royce Tate seemingly bought on a whim while walking through London a few months ago.
Bolla said that DIICOT was working to establish whether the Tates funded the purchase of the cars from human trafficking.

Tate, who is a former professional kickboxer-turned-businessman was arrested with his brother and two women on December 29.
Tate became popular online through sharing content flaunting his apparent wealth, and reveling in sexism. In one infamous video, for instance, he said women should "bear responsibility" if they are raped.

Among the allegations is that six women in the trafficking scheme were forced to make porn for Tate's online business. At least one of them was raped, according to a DIICOT press release.

Tate and the others were initially held for 24 hours, and then a Romanian court decided this should be extended to 30 days. Tate has not publicly responded to the allegations yet, except to cast doubt on the investigation as a conspiracy. A tweet from his account on Friday stated "The Matrix sent their agents."

De La Soul's catalog set to make streaming service debut this year
Due to the Digital Service Providers (DSP), the music industry is in a completely different landscape than it was 10 years ago. While it has its pros and cons, streaming has found its way to reign supreme and more artists are ensuring their intellectual property make the necessary transition for their own sake — and rightfully so. With that being said, the back catalog of Grammy-winning hip hop trio De La Soul is set to roll out on digital streaming services for the first time on March 3 through a new partnership with Reservoir Media and Reservoir-owned Chrysalis Records. This is one hell of a way to kick off the new year!

The legendary hip hop group shared the news on Tuesday (Jan. 3) with an announcement on their social media pages and official website. On Instagram and Twitter, they posted a video of a giant billboard in Times Square — in partnership with Amazon Music — that read, “Alexa, what’s the magic number?”

After a long delay and legal battle, De La’s first six albums — 3 Feet High and Rising, De La Soul Is Dead, Buhloone Mindstate, Stakes Is High, Art Official Intelligence: Mosaic Thump and AOI: Bionix — will be joining the rest of their discography. Fans can look forward to an early appetizer this month as the group’s 1989 hit “The Magic Number” will be released on Spotify, Apple Music and TIDAL on Jan. 13.

Reservoir Media and Chrysalis Records, the teams behind the release, have a whole marketing plan lined up to support the group that includes key events, activations and items that are now available for pre-order on wearedelasoul.com. “We can’t believe this day is finally here, and we are excited to be able to share our music with fans, old and new,” the trio said in a statement.

Are you excited for De La Soul’s arrival to the new-age streaming era?

Donovan Mitchell drug tested after his 71-point performance
The NBA questioned Donovan Mitchell’s effort just one day after the Cleveland Cavaliers shooting guard lit up the Chicago Bulls. On Monday (Jan. 2), Mitchell went off for 71 points and 11 assists in the Cav’s 145-134 win. While his historic night electrified basketball fans all over, the association wanted to test the legitimacy of his performance.

Yesterday (Jan. 3), Mitchell confirmed the news with a tweet. “Andddd just like that we are drug tested this morning,” he wrote along with the crying emojis.

This action is legal according to the collective bargaining agreement between the NBA and the National Basketball Players Association. It states that players are typically subject to four random tests for PEDs during the season and two during the offseason, and the NBA used one of the tests to make sure the 6-foot-1-inch guard wasn’t cheating.

As previously reported by REVOLT, during his phenomenal performance, Mitchell shot 22-of-34 from the field, made 7 of 15 3-pointers, and scored 13 points in overtime to help the Cavs erase a 21-point deficit to beat the Bulls. He became just the seventh player in the league’s history to score at least 70 points in a single game. This was the most points scored in an NBA game since the Los Angeles Lakers’ late legend Kobe Bryant scored 81 against the Toronto Raptors on Jan. 22, 2006.

According to the NBA’s Last Two Minute Report, Mitchell’s night should have ended on his 56th point. The document states that the referees of that game missed a lane violation call on a missed free throw with 4.1 seconds remaining in regulation. That call would have most likely prevented Mitchell’s historic night. The Cavaliers would have probably lost the game and he probably wouldn’t have been drug tested. Since they missed the call, Mitchell joins Wilt Chamberlain, Bryant, David Thompson, Elgin Baylor, David Robinson and Devin Booker as the only players to score 70 or more points in an NBA game.

Takeoff’s Murder Suspect, Patrick Clark, Has Been Released On $1 Million Bond
It’s been reported that Takeoff’s murder suspect Patrick Clark, aka “DJ Pat,” has been released on $1 million bond.
According to new court documents, Clark — who is the man accused of fatally shooting the Migos rapper in the early morning hours of November 1, 2022 in Houston, Texas — has posted his $1,000,000 bond on Wednesday (January 4).

Prior to Clark’s release, his defense team had repeatedly tried to have his bond lowered, claiming he could not afford to come up with enough cash to gain freedom.

In December 2022, we previously shared that a judge initially ordered for Clark’s bond to be set at $2 million. However, his lawyers argued that the rate was “excessive and penal in nature.”
After a hearing on December 14, Judge Josh Hill agreed to lower Clark’s bond to $1 million, but that was sufficient for him and his team.

His lawyers tried again to get the number lowered, specifically to $300,000. However, on December 28, Clark’s bond was ordered to remain at $1 million.

Per NBC 2 in Houston, the reason was due to Clark being viewed as a possible flight risk. It was said that he had his passport on him and an itinerary for Mexico when he was taken into custody. Prosecutors also believe that Clark had a plan in place after allegedly committing the crime.

Upon news of Clark’s bond remaining at $1 million, his lawyer, Letitia Quinones, told Rolling Stone, that the team plans to “exercise all legal remedies available by law.” And it appears something must have worked as Clark has now posted his $1 million bond on January 4.

Since the the November 1 killing of Takeoff, full name Kirsnick Khari Ball, Clark has maintained his innocence. However, detectives in Houston claim Clark had a gun in one hand and a wine bottle in the other hand when he was caught on camera firing his weapon.

Law enforcement officials say the bullets that were fired from his gun, allegedly struck Takeoff. Following his release, Clark is now due back in court in March.

Prince Harry Says His Brother William Attacked Him In Argument Over Meghan Markle
Prince Harry is making some serious claims against his brother Prince William. Harry claims that his brother Willy put the royal paws on him after getting into an argument over Meghan Markle.
In his new memoir called ‘Spare,’ the Duke of Sussex claims that his brother— who is due to be the future King of England — got physical with him back in 2019.

In his memoir, Prince Harry says Prince William yoked him up by the collar, ripped his necklace off and then knocked him to the ground as they fought in London.
Prince Harry reveals that the alleged fight all began after an intense argument with his brother — which involved Prince William calling his brother’s wife Meghan “difficult,” “rude,” and “abrasive.”

Prior to the heated altercation, Prince Harry claims his brother Prince William had already been upset and worked up before he even arrived to Nottingham Cottage — which is where Harry was residing at the time of the alleged incident.
Prior to the physical altercation, Prince Harry says he tried to reason with his brother, telling him that he was only furthering false media narratives about his wife and how he expected better from him.

This led to the screaming match and eventually paws being thrown, allegedly. Additionally, Prince Harry claims that the alleged incident resulted in visible bruises left on his body after he was injured from falling and landing on a dog bowl — which he adds, cracked under his back.

She responded to a TikTok account by making an Instagram video, saying, “Yeah, they invited me, but I wasn’t able to make it.”

Rapper Theophilus London Has Been Found ‘Safe and Well,’ His Cousin Says
Rapper Theophilus London has been found “safe and well” after his family filed a missing persons report last week, according to his cousin.
On Wednesday night, London’s cousin, Mikhail Noel, posted on Instagram that the rapper has been located. “We have found Theo. He is safe and well,” the post reads. “At this time the family would love prayers and privacy. Thank you all!!!”

The caption continues, “Truly appreciate everyone’s support in finding my cousin. It’s refreshing and rewarding to have such a strong support system of family and friends!!! God bless each and everyone of you all.”

London’s frequent collaborator, producer Machine Drum, also posted on Twitter that London had been found, writing: “He’s been found and is safe with family.”

When London was first reported missing on Dec. 28, Noel was listed as a contact along with the LAPD. However, when reached by Variety, the LAPD said it had not received any information yet indicating that London had been found.

At the time London was reported missing, his family said in a statement to Variety the last time someone spoke with him was in July 2022 in Los Angeles. “Theo, your Dad loves you, son. We miss you. And all your friends and relatives are searching for you. Wherever you are send us some signal. No matter what we will come get you son,” his father said.

Since 2011, London has released three studio albums and worked with artists like West, Travis Scott, Tame Impala, Ellie Goulding, Big Boi and more. He was Grammy-nominated for best rap song and rap performance for West’s 2015 single “All Day,” which he featured on with Paul McCartney and Allan Kingdom. His most recent album, “Bebey,” released in January 2020.

Dave Bautista says he's not the next Dwayne Johnson: 'I just want to be a good f***ing actor'
They may share a similar physique and previous work experience, but Dave Bautista is adamant that he's not the second coming of Dwayne Johnson. "I never wanted to be the next Rock," the former WWE star says emphatically in a new GQ interview. "I just want to be a good f***ing actor. A respected actor."

As the magazine notes, Bautista's ambitions are paying off with a run of projects that are poised to win him both respect and box office dollars. He's currently part of the ensemble of Rian Johnson's Knives Out follow-up, Glass Onion, which parlayed a successful limited theatrical run into big Netflix streaming numbers.

And in 2023, Bautista is set to appear in A Knock at the Cabin, the next movie from consistent hitmaker M. Night Shyamalan; James Gunn's trilogy-capping Marvel adventure Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3; and Denis Villeneuve's hotly-anticipated Dune: Part Two. That's a line-up that definitely distinguishes him from Johnson, who is coming off of two underwhelming would-be franchise starters — the animated DC League of Super-Pets and the live action Black Adam — and whose only 2023 feature film (so far) is the Amazon Studios-backed Christmas adventure, Red One.

For the record, Bautista has sought to distance himself from other wrestlers-turned-actors before. In a 2019 interview with The Tampa Bay Times,, he called Johnson a "movie star before he was even a movie star," while also adding "Would I consider him a great actor? F*** no."

And in 2021, he took to Twitter to publicly reject a fan pitch to team up with Johnson and John Cena in an action movie. "Nah I'm good," he wrote in response, later issuing a follow-up tweet indicating that he didn't want to be "lumped in" with his WWE cohorts. (Back in his wrestling days, Bautista and Cena tangled in the ring multiple times, and he was part of a three-man team that took on the Rock and Mick Foley at Wrestlemania XX in 2004.)

While Johnson hasn't commented on Bautista's remarks over the years, Cena has made it clear that he understands where the ex-wrestler is coming from and doesn't take it personally. "Dave has worked so hard on his craft," he told Esquire in 2021 when asked about Bautista's Twitter remarks. "I don't have any beef with Dave and I really genuinely think Dave doesn't have any beef with me. He really just wants to be identified and recognized for his work. And I cannot fault him for that. I applaud him for it."

Bautista may not look to Cena or the Rock for acting inspiration, but he tells GQ that he did absorb some early career advice from another wrestling icon-turned-actor: "Stone Cold" Steve Austin. "Before I left WWE, [Steve] pulled me aside and said, 'You’re going to get offers for horrible scripts. The money will be tempting. Don’t get caught in that trap.'" (Austin's filmography included roles in The Expendables, Grown Ups 2 and direct-to-video titles like Maximum Conviction.)

With Austin's words ringing in his ears, Bautista says that he was deliberately "picky and choosy" about selecting movie projects — an approach that paid off when he landed his career-transforming role as Drax the Destroyer in Guardians of the Galaxy, a character he's now ready to leave in the rearview. "There's a relief [that it's over]," he admits, having previously complained about the "shirtless scenes" required for his Marvel Cinematic Universe appearances. "The makeup process was beating me down. And I just don’t know if I want Drax to be my legacy — it’s a silly performance, and I want to do more dramatic stuff."

In addition to getting dramatic, Bautista has also sought out the challenge of taking on more leading roles, starting with Zack Snyder's Army of the Dead."I wanted to be the leader, it was something I chased after," Bautista told Yahoo Entertainment in 2021 during an interview for that zombie action movie. "But I never felt like I was the center of attention on set, because if you watch the film, you see that every character gets their moment to shine."

Speaking with GQ, Bautista teases that A Knock at the Cabin represents another leap forward for his acting career. "It’s by far the most I’ve ever spoken in a film," he reveals. "Just huge pages of monologues … It’s a lot of pressure. I want to remember my dialogue, but not at the expense of losing the emotion of the scene."

House Adjourns AGAIN Without Electing A Speaker – McCarthy’s Bid in Peril
Kevin McCarthy suffered yet another stinging defeat on Wednesday as he lost in the sixth round of voting to elect a speaker — a major blow that increasingly imperils his bid and heightens uncertainty over whether he can still secure the gavel or if a viable candidate will emerge as an alternative.

The House of Representatives has adjourned until 8 p.m. ET on Wednesday after failing to elect a new speaker. Now, Republicans are scrambling to find a resolution and talks are expected to continue.

Republicans are considering appointing four members each from the pro-McCarthy and anti-McCarthy camps to negotiate a path forward on choosing a House speaker, one GOP source tells CNN.

The House GOP majority has been stuck at a contentious stalemate amid opposition to McCarthy from a group of conservatives. The fight, which began on the first day of the 118th Congress, has thrown the new House GOP majority into chaos and undercut the party’s agenda.

The House will continue to be paralyzed until this standoff is resolved. The situation has grown dire for McCarthy’s political future as Republican allies are beginning to fear that the House GOP leader may not be able to pull off his gamble for speaker if the fight goes much longer. While McCarthy has firm support among most of the conference, some are not committed to sticking with him.

It’s not at all clear whether McCarthy and his allies will be able to lock down the votes — and the longer the fight drags on the more imperiled his speaker bid has become.

But there are some signs that negotiations may be progressing. Rep. Dan Bishop of North Carolina, one of the 20 members who has opposed McCarthy in the votes, told CNN things have changed and there is a “dynamic kind of atmosphere” now.

“I’m encouraged by it,” he said.

Rep. Chip Roy of Texas, another member who has voted against McCarthy, told CNN he has had “more productive” talks over the last two hours with McCarthy allies than he has had over the last few weeks. He said he expects to be part of talks that will take place tonight.

But in a sign of McCarthy’s remaining challenges: Rep. Andy Biggs of Arizona, a prominent member of the opposition group, told CNN he is still a hard no.

Uncertainty over path forward
House Republicans hold 222 seats in the new Congress, so for McCarthy to reach 218, he can only afford to lose four GOP votes. His obstacle is that he faces a small but determined contingent of hardline conservatives who have so far been successful in denying him the votes to secure the gavel.

The group has used the leverage they have in the razor-thin Republican majority to extract concessions. McCarthy has already given in to a number of their demands, including making it easier to topple the sitting speaker, but so far his efforts have not been enough, and

The House convened on Wednesday to continue voting after three rounds of votes on Tuesday. McCarthy has come up short each time, failing to hit the majority threshold needed to secure the speakership.

As the votes stretched on Tuesday, the situation appeared to become even more dire for McCarthy, as the vote count in opposition to his speaker bid grew.

The tally for the first ballot in the speaker vote was 203 for McCarthy, with 19 Republicans voting for other candidates. The tally for the second ballot was 203 votes for McCarthy with 19 votes for GOP Rep. Jim Jordan of Ohio. In the third round of voting, there were 202 votes for McCarthy and 20 votes for Jordan, with Rep. Byron Donalds joining the 19 GOP lawmakers who had voted against McCarthy in the first two rounds.

It was the first time an election for speaker went to multiple ballots since 1923.

“My vote yesterday was basically to break a deadlock, because we were deadlocked, and we were not getting anywhere,” Donalds, a Florida Republican, said Wednesday on “CNN This Morning.” “Right now, (McCarthy) doesn’t have a pathway to get there. If that reemerges, yeah, I can be there, that’s fine, but what’s necessary now is that Republicans come together and find a way to elect a speaker.”

In the fourth round of voting, 20 Republicans voting together for Donalds as the group switched their collective support from Jordan to Donalds. Rep. Victoria Spartz of Indiana voted present, lowering McCarthy’s threshold to 217.

Spartz told CNN she did so because she wanted to allow for more negotiations within the conference to address the concerns of the 20 members.

The final tally for the fifth vote was again 201 votes for McCarthy, 20 for Donalds and one present vote.

The final tally for the sixth vote was the same: 201 for McCarthy, 20 for Donalds and one present vote.

Trump watching closely
Trump is watching closely as the dynamic plays out on Capitol Hill and his public support has been a key focus of McCarthy’s efforts.

Two GOP sources familiar with the matter said McCarthy’s allies were panicking on Tuesday after the former president gave a tepid response to NBC News when asked about his support for McCarthy. The former president also declined to issue a statement Monday reiterating his endorsement of McCarthy despite a behind-the-scenes effort from several McCarthy allies to get Trump to do so, two sources said.

One close McCarthy ally then began working behind the scenes to do clean-up duty and started pressing for Trump to put out a statement clarifying his support. McCarthy and Trump then connected by phone, where McCarthy said Trump expressed he was still committed to backing him. Trump put out a strong endorsement on Truth Social Wednesday morning, imploring Republicans not to “TURN A GREAT TRIUMPH INTO A GIANT & EMBARRASSING DEFEAT” and urging them to vote for McCarthy.

Although Trump’s statement might not move the needle among the fiercest McCarthy foes, one of the sources said McCarthy world was worried about looking “weak” and like he was bleeding support, so they felt it was important to reverse the narrative.

Gaetz, one of the House Republicans opposing McCarthy’s bid for speaker, dismissed Trump’s latest effort to help the California Republican as “sad.”

“This changes neither my view of McCarthy nor Trump nor my vote,” Gaetz said in a statement to Fox News Digital on Wednesday, shortly after Trump came to McCarthy’s defense in the Truth Social post.

Long a staunch Trump ally, Gaetz’s refusal to bow to Trump’s desire for a McCarthy speakership raises new questions about the former president’s dwindling influence over Republicans in the midst of his third presidential campaign.

“If Matt Gaetz is ignoring you, that’s not a good sign,” said one Trump ally who is involved with his 2024 campaign.

Trump has been making calls on McCarthy’s behalf over the last 24 hours in an attempt to break the conservative blockade against him, this person said, but his efforts have so far been fruitless.

One lawmaker who spoke with Trump late Tuesday suggested the former president should run for speaker himself, according to a person briefed on the call. Trump demurred and continued to push this person to support McCarthy, claiming that he would be a solid “America First” supporter.

Brooklyn Pastor Bishop Lamor Whitehead Challenges Uncle Murda to a Fight After Rapper Mentions Him in 2022 Rap Up: “I’m Anointed to Lay Hands”
Bishop Lamor Whitehead is calling out Uncle Murda after he claimed his feelings were hurt, and he now wants to throw on the boxing gloves.
In the 15 min video, the Bishop went out to explain how he felt Murda threw him under the bus during his 2022 Rap-Up.

He said, “I’m from Brooklyn.  We do things differently.”
Bishop said, “I really don’t like what you said.  It hurt my feelings.” adding, “I thought we were brothers.”

Apparently, Uncle Murda accused the troubled pastor of stealing money from his members, which he vehemently denies.
The Bishop said he wanted to put the gloves on and get in the ring with Murda.  He said, “ask 50 Cent to put the bag behind you.”

“We Christian, not punks or sissys we ten toes down over here,” he said.
Furthermore, Bishop said, “The bible says clearly that I’m anointed to lay hands.”
Do you think Uncle Murda will accept the challenge?

Man Files Lawsuit Against Southwest For Not Reimbursing Passengers After Cancellation Meltdown
A passenger has filed a lawsuit against Southwest Airlines, alleging that the airline neglected to reimburse passengers who were left stranded after the carrier canceled more than 15,000 flights last month.

Eric Capdeville filed a proposed class action in a New Orleans federal court on December 30 after a fierce winter storm disrupted Southwest’s schedule shortly before Christmas.
Despite the commitment to cover expenses, Capdeville claimed that Southwest gave him and his daughter credit after they canceled their flight from New Orleans to Portland, Oregon, on December 27, with no way to book an alternative flight.

The complaint asserted that affected passengers “cannot use their airline tickets through no fault of their own, and they are not getting the benefit of their bargain with the defendant.”
In his lawsuit, Capdeville seeks compensation for the Southwest flight passengers whose flights were canceled since December 24 and who did not receive refunds or reimbursements for expenses incurred.
Southwest said in a statement on Tuesday that “several high-priority efforts underway to do right by our customers, including processing refunds from canceled flights and reimbursing customers for expenses incurred as a result of the irregular operations.”

Those affected can expect reimbursement, but Southwest claims it could take several weeks.
