#RHOA: Nene Leakes Reflects on Everything 2021 Has Taught Her

Nene Leakes is feeling reflective as she heads into 2022.

She recently opened up about the lessons she has learned over the past year in a post on Instagram on December 28. The post featured a photo of Nene posing on a beach chair in the sand. The close-up selfie showed Nene wearing a straw hat decorated with pink and yellow roses. "This year really taught me so much [about] people places [and] things," Nene captioned the pic, before adding the hashtag "1 life."

This photo appeared to have been taken while on vacation with Nene's rumored new boyfriend, Nyonisela Sioh. On Monday, December 27, Nene posted videos of herself and Nyonisela relaxing on the beach in her Instagram Stories, according to PEOPLE.

This has been a difficult year for Nene. She shared in June that husband Gregg Leakes' cancer had returned two years after he had been declared cancer-free amid his battle with stage 3 colon cancer. Gregg passed away on September 1 at the age of 66.

Following Gregg's passing, Nene honored her late husband with a celebration of life at her Linnethia Lounge on September 6, which was attended by loved ones, including many members of the Bravo family. Nene continued to keep Gregg's memory alive by sharing touching tributes on Instagram.

Nene shared her grieving process with fans, opening up about her "good days and bad days" in the weeks following Gregg's passing. Still, Nene continued to embrace life, reuniting with Cynthia Bailey and Marlo Hampton in September. Nene's son, Brentt Leakes, surprised his mom with a joyous birthday party at the Linnethia Lounge on December 14, where she reunited with Porsha Williams and Shamea Morton.

Though Nene said that she wasn't quite ready to respond to all the DMs from "gentlemen" back in in October, she confirmed to The Shade Room earlier this month that she has started dating someone new. "We’re dating! We’re friends," Nene said without revealing the identity of her new suitor. “I will love Gregg forever [and] ever! Grieving is hard! Even harder [and] depressing alone. Gregg and I had a very tearful conversation before his passing. His words to me were 'be happy, keep smiling and he who finds you, has found a good one.'"

As this year came to a close, Nene shared more positive selfies on Instagram, writing in the captions of the December posts, "I got nothing but love for you" and "I just wanna be happy….that’s all #onelife."

#HipHopNews: Uncle Murda Says Lil Nas X Will Die Of Aids On New Track ‘Rap Up 2021′

As expected, Uncle Murda released his version of the "Rap Up 2021" and this iteration may be the most inflammatory yet, including a wild line about Lil Nas X.

The Brooklyn rapper released the annual (always controversial) track on New Year's Day (Jan. 1). The song features 14 minutes of Lenny talking reckless, "respectfully," touching on all the goings on in hip-hop, urban and national news. Murda starts things off in eyebrow-raising fashion. "Lil Nas X gon' catch AIDS and die like Eazy-E/Hope the LGBTQ don't cancel me," Murda raps. "Like they tried to stop DaBaby from getting paid, when he was talking about how they be giving each other AIDS."

Nobody is safe on Murda's latest track, which he also announced would be available as an NFT. During the lengthy culmination, he also talks about Drake and Kanye's "fake" beef and ultimate reunion and Will Smith and Jada Pinkett-Smith oversharing about their relationship. "But don't got to Instagram or get the cops in it/If he kill her, she gon' go to Heaven and let Pac hit it," Murda rhymes.

Murda leaves no stone unturned, bringing up last year's Verzuz highlights, 50 Cent's BMF series, Freddie Gibbs' alleged tussle with Jim Jones, rappers who passed away and more. "Do y'all know today is, cause today matters/Today is the day I disrespect a whole bunch of rappers, respectfully/I don't care who niggas down with, I'm violating them if they was out here doing clown shit/Come on mane," he raps on the chorus.

Eric Adams Has Been sworn in as New York City mayor in Times Square

New year, new mayor in New York City. Mere minutes after midnight (Jan. 1), Eric Adams was sworn in as the 110th mayor of NYC, becoming just the second Black man to hold the position. The ceremony took place live in Times Square, as confetti from the ball drop covered the surrounding streets.

According to CNN, the 61-year-old Brooklyn native took his oath of office surrounded by family, friends and his associates. He held up a framed photo of his mother, Dorothy, who died in 2020 and placed his hand on a family Bible.

“I, Eric Adams, do solemnly swear, that I will support the Constitution of the United States, the constitution of the state of New York, and the charter of the city of New York, and I will faithfully discharge the duties of the office of the mayor of the city of New York, to the best of my abilities, so help me God,” Adams said, repeating after Associate Justice Sylvia Hinds-Radix.

Shortly after being sworn in, he spoke to host Ryan Seacrest on “Dick Clark’s New Year’s Rockin’ Eve.” “It’s a great feeling,” Adams said. “I got a couple more parties to go to, but trust me if you hang out with the boys, you gotta get up with the men. I’ll be up early in the morning, working for the City of New York.”

When asked what his wishes are for the City of New York, Adams said he hoped for “prosperity,” while encouraging people to find “inner peace.” “We’ve been through tragedies before,” he said. “This is a resilient city and a resilient country, and I want to bring that energy.”

Adams will replace incumbent Bill de Blasio — who served as mayor of NYC from 2014 to 2021 — after defeating Republican mayoral candidate Curtis Sliwa in the November election.

Bobby Bones Says He’s Not Returning to ‘American Idol’ for Season 20

Bobby Bones said on Friday that he will not be returning as a mentor on “American Idol” for the hit competition show’s 20th season.

The radio personality and “Dancing With the Stars” winner, who became a full-time mentor on “American Idol” during Season 17, revealed via a now-expired Instagram story that he won’t be returning due to a scheduling conflict with another network.

'American Idol' Judges Katy Perry, Luke Bryan, Lionel Richie and Host Ryan Seacrest Will All Return for Season 20

When asked during a fan Q&A why he has recently been in Costa Rica, Bones addressed his absence from “American Idol’s” Season 20 promos. “And some of you noticed, I’m not in the ‘Idol’ promos this season. My contract [with] my new network won’t let me do another show right now,” Bones wrote. “Love ‘Idol,’ BTW. Was a great 4 years.”

In the Instagram story, Bones kept tight-lipped about his new project, writing that “the network hasn’t even announced the show yet. So I’m going to chill for a bit. But it’s a really good show.”

Representatives for Bones and “American Idol” did not immediately respond to Variety‘s request for comment.

Bones has served as a mentor on “American Idol” for the past four years, giving contestants much-needed advice as they navigate through their musical journeys. Host Ryan Seacrest and judges Luke Bryan, Lionel Richie and Katy Perry are all returning for the show’s 20th season, which premieres on ABC Feb. 27.

Bones is also the host of “Breaking Bobby Bones” on the National Geographic Channel and recently helmed “CBS New Year’s Eve Live: Nashville’s Big Bash” on Dec. 31 along with Rachel Smith of Entertainment Tonight.

Trey Songz Accused of Being a 'Rapist' By New Orleans Gator Basketball Star Dylan Gonzalez

Dylan Gonzalez, one half of the famous Basketball playing sisters, The “Gonazalez Twins,” is accusing singer Trey Songz of rape.

via: HipHopDX

Trey Songz and his relationships with women aren’t exactly fairytales. He was accused of sexual assault by a woman who attended a New Year’s Eve party at Diddy’s home on Miami’s Star Island in January 2020 and faced another sexual assault claim last November that allegedly took place at The Cosmopolitan Hotel in Las Vegas.

Now, another woman has come forward with serious allegations against the R&B singer. On Thursday (December 30), former University of Las Vegas women’s basketball star Dylan Gonzalez (who now plays on Master P’s New Orleans Gators) boldy tweeted, “Trey Songz is a rapist. Lord forgive me I couldn’t hold that in another year. See you in 2022.” And with that, the likes and comments started rolling in, with one saying, “Welp @kekepalmer called it.”

In a 2017 interview with The Breakfast Club, Palmer spoke about her split from Trey Songz and accused him of “sexual intimidation” for tricking her into being in the “Pick Up The Phone” music video while they were at a party. Palmer explained she had to hide in a closet to avoid being filmed and was berated by Songz.

Palmer’s concerned about Songz appeared to go largely ignored until professional internet troll Celina Powell filed charges against Songz. He replied to Powell’s allegations with a tweet that read, “I usually stay quiet on this, but I feel that in many ways the movement to fight for the women who actually have suffered harassment and abuse on various levels, has been hijacked by those who find it convenient for themselves to come up as they seek to destroy someone’s life.”

On December 20, Jauhara Jeffries – who attended Diddy’s aforementioned NYE party — filed suit against Songz in the Eleventh Judicial Circuit of Florida. Jeffries claimed she stayed at the party for a couple of hours before calling for a ride-sharing service to take her and some friends to the E11EVEN nightclub. Songz, who she said appeared intoxicated, allegedly overheard the conversation and said they could ride with him instead.

After arriving at the club together, they were seated at a private table when Jeffries started dancing on the couch. That’s when he allegedly “violated” her with his fingers. The court documents state: “Plaintiff immediately got off of the couch, sat down, and was in a state of shock.” A friend of Jefferies told her Songz had “also violated her with his fingers.” Jefferies is reportedly seeking $10 million.

Many have since reacted to Dylan’s post, with one writing, “Welp @KekePalmer called it.” Another added, “Keke Palmer warned everybody about Trey Songz disrespectful behavior towards women and nobody wanted to listen to her and I am so proud of Keke for standing her ground when everybody was against her.”

Jack Harlow Calls For The Firing Of Officer Who Assaulted A Woman At His Show

Jack Harlow is seeking assistance to locate an officer who assaulted a woman attempting to enter his show. Harlow shared a video of the incident online with the desire for the officer “to lose his job so f*cking fast.”

This video came to my attention a few hours ago,” Harlow wrote on Instagram. “When I watched it I was disgusted by that cop and all I wanted to do was make something good happen for this girl immediately…I told the world to help me identify her so I could find a way to give her a hug and give her as many tickets to as many shows as she wants. But that’s not enough and its not a solution to a systemic issue that people who don’t look like me have to face.

“The next step is identifying this police officer and getting him unemployed as fast as we can. Assaulting a young woman and putting his hands on her neck is sickening. I look out in the crowd every night and see black women in my front row…screaming my lyrics, traveling to see me, supporting me, riding for me. I want this woman, and every black woman that supports me to know – I am so sorry. I want you to be protected and I want this guy to lose his job so fucking fast. I love you. Let’s find this officer.”

Keechant Sewell Makes History As First Female Commissioner Of The NYPD

Keechant Sewell made history on Saturday as she was sworn in as the first female commissioner of the New York City Police Department. This marks the first time a woman has been chosen to lead the department in its 176-year history.

Sewell will serve as the 45th police commissioner of the country’s largest force. She previously spent 23 years with the Nassau Police Department, specializing in narcotics, major cases, and hostage negotiations. Sewell was promoted to chief of detectives last year, People reports.

“I’m truly honored to be the 45th New York City Police Commissioner,” Sewell tweeted after the swearing-in ceremony. “This oath reflects my deep commitment to our great city – and the individuals who are ranked as New York’s Finest. I’m privileged to be here and ready to work!”

Sewell was chosen by NYC’s new mayor Eric Adams, who is a former police captain, who promised to appoint a female police commissioner while campaigning. On Saturday, Adams, 61, was sworn in by the mayor in Time’s Square. He is the city’s second Black mayor.

Kodak Black Charged with Trespassing in Florida

Kodak Black was placed under arrest in a Pompano Beach neighborhood for trespassing, authorities said.

The rapper was nabbed on a trespassing charge at 1:30 a.m. Saturday in his hometown of Pompano Beach, Fla., the Broward County Sheriff’s Office told The SunSentinel.

Black, whose legal name is Bill Kapri, has been arrested several times, including in April 2019 on drug and weapons charges as he attempted to re-enter the United States from Canada.

The same year, he was sentenced to three years in federal prison after admitting he falsified documents to buy weapons in Miami.

On his last day in office in 2020, former President Trump commuted Black’s three-year federal prison sentence, of which the “No Flockin’” star had served about half.

In April, Black was sentenced to probation after he was arrested for assaulting a teenage girl in South Carolina.

Police did not say what prompted Saturday’s charge. Black was later released after posting bond, according to the outlet.

Louisiana judge resigns after video surfaces of her using racial slurs

A Louisiana judge has resigned after a video surfaced of her calling a Black man a “nigger” and a “roach.”

On Friday (Dec. 31), Michelle Odinet issued her resignation letter to Louisiana Supreme Court Chief Justice John Weimer. “I take full responsibility for the hurtful words I used to describe the individual who burglarized the vehicles at my home,” she wrote. “I am sorry for the pain that I have caused my community and ask for your forgiveness, as my words did not foster the public’s confidence and integrity for the judiciary.”

As previously reported, a little over two weeks ago, a video clip surfaced of Odinet and her family watching a home video of a suspected car burglary in their driveway. “And mom’s yelling nigger, nigger,” a man’s voice said on the video. Then, a female voice — which was identified as the former judge — said, “We have a nigger. It’s a nigger, like a roach.”

Following backlash from the footage, Odinet told local news outlets that she had “zero recollection” of the conversation being filmed and was under the influence of a sedative at the time of the incident. She also said she was “deeply sorry” and asked for “forgiveness and understanding” as she and her family dealt with the aftermath of the burglary.

However, several people called for the judge to step down, including Michael Toussaint, president of the Lafayette chapter of the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People (NAACP). He said that “hate, in any form, cannot stand and must be condemned.”

Subsequently, the Louisiana Supreme Court suspended Odinet as the investigation into the racist tape continued. The Court stated that she was “disqualified from exercising judicial functions, without salary, during the pendency of further proceedings.”

Judge Vanessa Harris replaced Odinet following her suspension, making her the first Black judge to be appointed to Louisiana’s Lafayette City Court.
