#SPLITSVILLE Meagan Good’s Husband DeVon Franklin Files For Divorce After 9 Years Of Marriage

It seems that DeVon Franklin has officially filed for a divorce from his wife, Meagan Good.

According to legal documents exclusively obtained by The Blast, the case was opened on Monday, December 20, at the Stanley Mosk Courthouse in Los Angeles, California. The couple has been married since 2012 but do not have any children together, so there are no concerns about child support.

Meagan Good, 40, is an LA-born actress and model who became a hit with audiences in the 2011 film “Think Like A Man.” She also starred in the NBC drama series “Deception” as Joanna Locasto.

DeVon Franklin, 43, is a Hollywood producer, best-selling author, and motivational speaker originally from San Francisco, California. He co-wrote the New York Times best-seller “The Wait” with Meagan Good, and also produced the popular films “Miracles from Heaven” and “Heaven Is For Real.”

Just earlier this month, DeVon promoted her new Amazon Prime Video series called “Harlem,” which premiered on Friday, December 3. The show features four friends trying to live out their dreams in New York City. Although Franklin wasn’t at the premiere event in New York City, he supported her in spirit. In an Instagram story talking about the premiere, he said he was “so proud of my love!”

“Y’all not ready for this!!!” he wrote in a caption alongside the video. “I’m so proud of my love @Meagangood! She’s one of the most talented actors on the planet AND she’s funnier than you may know but I’m so glad you finally get a chance to see her do it all as Camille Parks in the new Amazon show #Harlem @Harlemonprime!!”

He added, “It streams on DEC 3rd on @amazonprimevideo πŸ”₯πŸ”₯πŸ”₯πŸ”₯πŸ”₯ P.S. this will be your new favorite show…sex in the city has nothing on #harlem.”

Good responded to the praise, commenting, “My Loooove .. thank you πŸ™πŸΎ Heart’ah’smilin πŸ₯ΊπŸ₯ΊπŸ™πŸΎπŸ™ˆπŸ˜. Love you!”

In December of last year, Essence joked that the couple was in “baby-making mode” after Good announced her 30-day fitness challenge.

“I’m trying to really get in shape,” Meagan Good said at the time. “And I’m trying to get ready for babies. I’m trying to be in the best shape of my life so that I can start from a good point and be in a good place when I get in the gym after that.”

Earlier that year, Good had told The Real that she wanted to take her time before committing to raising children, even though she had experience raising monkeys!

“I’m going to take my time,” Good stated at the time. “I had monkeys a few years ago and now I have two hairless cats. I’m kind of like a Never Never Land person—so I’m going to wait. In the right time. I’m gonna take my time.”

It’s unclear if settling down and having children played any role in the divorce, but the title of Franklin’s new book, “Live Free” has definitely caused fans to speculate.

#MusicNews: Mariah Carey's 'All I Want for Christmas Is You' Returns to No. 1 on Billboard Hot 100

Mariah Carey’s “All I Want for Christmas Is You” is once again #1 on the Billboard Hot 100.

This makes the song’s sixth total week atop the Hot 100 and becomes the first song in the chart’s history to have led in three distinct runs on the ranking.

The song was first released on Carey’s album Merry Christmas in 1994 and, as streaming has grown and holiday music has become more prominent on streaming services’ seasonal playlists, it hit the Hot 100’s top 10 for the first time in December 2017, before ascending to No. 1 in both December 2019 (for three weeks) and December 2020 (two).

Carey’s gift that keeps on giving (and leading) paces six holiday classics in the Hot 100’s top 10, with Brenda Lee’s “Rockin’ Around the Christmas Tree” rising to No. 2 and Wham!’s “Last Christmas” returning to the tier at No. 9.

The Hot 100 blends all-genre U.S. streaming (official audio and official video), radio airplay and sales data. All charts (dated Dec. 25) will update on Billboard.com tomorrow (Dec. 21). For all chart news, you can follow @billboard and @billboardcharts on both Twitter and Instagram.

Here’s a deeper look at Carey’s latest Hot 100 coronation with “Christmas,” on Columbia Records/Legacy Recordings.

Airplay, streams & sales: Carey’s “Christmas” drew 37.6 million U.S. streams (up 16%) and 26.1 million radio airplay audience impressions (up 7%) and sold 7,400 downloads (up 7%) in the Dec. 10-16 tracking week, according to MRC Data.

The song spends a 13th total week at No. 1 on the Streaming Songs chart and rises 9-7 on Digital Song Sales; and 24-23 on Radio Songs. It also leads the multi-metric Holiday 100 chart for a 49th week, of the chart’s 54 total weeks since the list launched in 2011; it has topped the tally for 34 consecutive weeks, dating to the start of the 2015-16 holiday season, and dominates as the top title on the recently-revealed Greatest of All Time Holiday 100 Songs chart.

Sine its release, the song has upped its U.S. totals to 4.3 billion in radio audience, 1.4 billion streams and 3.7 million in download sales.

No. 1 in a third separate chart run: Carey’s “Christmas” first topped the Hot 100 dated Dec. 21, 2019, and led again on the next two lists, dated Dec. 28, 2019, and Jan. 4, 2020.

The following holiday season, it returned to No. 1 on the chart dated Dec. 19, 2020, and, after a week at No. 2 (below Taylor Swift’s “Willow”), topped the Jan. 2, 2021, dated tally.

As “Christmas” rules the latest, Dec. 25, 2021-dated chart, it claims its sixth total week at No. 1 in its third seasonal run at the summit, becoming the first song in the Hot 100’s 63-year history to lead in three distinct chart runs. The track has re-entered the survey each November or December dating to 2012.

(As “Christmas” has made four interrupted climbs to the top of the Hot 100, on charts dated Dec. 21, 2019, Dec. 19, 2020, Jan. 2, 2021, and now Dec. 25, 2021, it ties 24kGoldn’s “Mood,” featuring iann dior, beginning in October 2020, and Drake’s “Nice for What,” in 2018, as the only songs with four separate ascents to No. 1; unlike “Christmas,” the latter two tracks logged their four distinct rises to No. 1 over unbroken chart stays.)

Longest span atop the Hot 100: Carey’s “Christmas” now boasts the longest span from a song’s first week at No. 1 on the Hot 100 to its latest: two years and four days (Dec. 21, 2019-Dec. 25, 2021).

It passes the only other song to lead the Hot 100 over multiple runs: Chubby Checker’s “The Twist,” which topped the tally dated Sept. 19, 1960, before, thanks to new popularity among adult audiences, leading the lists dated Jan. 13 and 20, 1962, ruling again after a gap of a year, three months and three weeks. (Still, that break remains the longest between Hot 100 reigns.)

Most weeks at No. 1 for a holiday hit: With its sixth week atop the Hot 100, Carey’s “Christmas” extends its record for the most time at No. 1 among holiday songs. The only other seasonal single to jingle to the apex, “The Chipmunk Song,” by David Seville & the Chipmunks, spent four weeks on top beginning in December 1958.

Carey’s record 85th week atop Hot 100: With “Christmas,” Carey claims her record-extending 85th week at No. 1 on the Hot 100, dating to the chart’s Aug. 4, 1958, inception.

#HipHopNews: Drake Beats $4 Billion Home Intruder Lawsuit

Drake has scored a legal victory against a woman who allegedly trespassed onto his property.

Mesha Collins was arrested and charged with breaking into the rapper’s Los Angeles home in April 2017. After she was released from jail on $100,000 bail, Drake decided against pressing charges because he felt she was struggling with personal issues.

In August 2021, she sued Drake for $4 billion, claiming that he defamed her and invaded her privacy by sharing private information on Instagram.

Last month, Drake’s legal team denied the accusations and called the lawsuit a “frivolous case” based on “delusional figments of her imagination.” They said Collins’ case was “egregiously baseless” and just another attempt at harassing Drake.

Billboard reports that on Friday a Los Angeles Superior Court agreed and dismissed the defamation case permanently on the grounds that nothing Drake posted could be remotely linked to Collins.

“Plaintiff Collins has not demonstrated any of defendant [Drake’s] statements were about plaintiff Collins or that he used her identity, name, or likeness in his Instagram posts or endorsements,” Judge Virginia Keeny wrote. “Even if plaintiff Collins could establish the statements were about her, she has failed to establish that such statements were of a private fact that is offensive and objectionable to the reasonable person.”

Drake denied that he knew who Collins was prior to the suit. “I do not know Plaintiff. I have never met her and have never communicated with her,” he said in a declaration under oath. “I did not even know of Plaintiff until this lawsuit was filed and served. Indeed, I was unaware of Plaintiff’s identity, name, or where she alleges she lives until the filing and service of this lawsuit.”

He added, “I have never mentioned or even referred to Plaintiff (by her name, nickname, image/likeness, or otherwise) in any of my music, Instagram posts, or in connection with any products or services that I have endorsed.”

The dismissal order was granted under California’s anti-SLAPP law, which allows judges to quickly reject questionable lawsuits that could chill free speech.

‘Sex and the City’ cast issues joint statement on Chris Noth

Three of the stars of “Sex and the City” have issued a statement regarding the sexual assault and misconduct allegations against their former co-star Chris Noth.

“We are deeply saddened to hear the allegations against Chris Noth,” reads the statement, posted to Instagram and signed by Cynthia Nixon, Sarah Jessica Parker and Kristin Davis.

“We support the women who have come forward and shared their painful experiences,” it continues. “We know it must be a very difficult thing to do and we commend them for it.”

Ex-“Sex” star Kim Cattrall — who was written out of the current “SATC” sequel series, “And Just Like That,” amid years of bad blood between her and Parker — was noticeably not a signatory of the terse statement.

Noth was accused of sexually assaulting two women in 2004 and 2015 in a bombshell feature by the Hollywood Reporter last week. Another woman then told the Daily Beast that he allegedly forced himself on her in the back office of a Midtown restaurant in 2010.

Actress Zoe Lister-Jones — who worked with Noth on “Law & Order: Criminal Intent” — also came out with her own story of sexual misconduct against him, while another actress, Krys Marshall, backed up Lister-Jones’ account of Noth’s behavior with women working at his club in the comments of Lister-Jones’ post.

Noth, 67, was axed from the CBS series “The Equalizer” this week in the wake of the allegations and has also been dropped from his agency, A3 Artists. Additionally, a deal by booze brand Entertainment Arts Research to purchase Noth’s tequila line Ambhar for $12 million fell through in the fallout.

Noth has denied the allegations. His wife, Tara Wilson, who shares two children with the actor, “is not doing well,” amid the scandal, The US Sun reported over the weekend.

And just like that! Broadway's 'Jagged Little Pill' Announces Abrupt Closing Notice Due to COVID-19

Broadway's 'Jagged Little Pill' Announces Abrupt Closing Notice Due to COVID-19

The Tony-winning Broadway musical Jagged Little Pill has officially closed.

The musical went dark after the performance on Friday night (December 17) due to cases of COVID-19 detected backstage. Originally, the musical was just supposed to be suspended through December 21, but the producers have announced that the show will not return to Broadway.

“The drastic turn of events this week with the rapid spread of the Omicron variant has, once again, changed everything. We are dismayed by what appears to be another substantial public health crisis, and – due to the detection of multiple positive Covid-19 cases within the company – need to prioritize the health and safety of the cast, crew, and entire team working on Jagged Little Pill,” the producers said.

The statement continued, “In light of the extreme uncertainty ahead of us this winter, and forced to choose between continuing performances and protecting our company, we’ve made the difficult decision to close our doors.”

Jagged Little Pill featured the music of Alanis Morissette and an original story by Oscar winner Diablo Cody. The musical starred Tony winner Lauren Patten along with Kathryn Gallagher, Derek Klena, Sean Allan Krill, Morgan Dudley, and Elizabeth Stanley and Heidi Blickenstaff in the shared lead role.

Donald Trump Sues New York Attorney General Letitia James In An Effort To Halt Her Civil Investigation Into His Business Practices

On Monday, former President Donald Trump sued New York Attorney General Letitia James Monday, seeking to halt her office’s investigation into his company.

In the suit filed on behalf of Trump, claims the attorney general’s two-year-long financial fraud probe is politically motivated and in violation of Trump’s rights.

While speaking the CBS News, Trump called the investigation “unconstitutional” in a phone call. “We are such an aggrieved and innocent party. It is a disgrace,” adding “This is like Russia, Russia, Russia, which turned out to be a hoax,” Trump said.

James has responded to the suit in a statement Monday, saying the Trump Organization has repeatedly attempted to delay her office’s investigation into his business dealings. She called the suit an “attempted collateral attack.”

She added,

“To be clear, neither Mr. Trump nor the Trump Organization get to dictate if and where they will answer for their actions,” James said in the statement. “Our investigation will continue undeterred because no one is above the law, not even someone with the name Trump.”

Al Green Responds To Lil B's Question About Whether He's Still Alive

Al Green has let everyone know that he's not dead. After Lil B asked on social media whether he's still alive, the "How Can You Mend a Broken Heart" crooner offered a simple answer which many online users found hilarious.

Over the weekend, Lil B randomly wrote on Twitter, "DAMN AL GREEN IS STILL ALIVE?!!!! I HAVE BEEN LIVING UNDER A ROCK!!! WOW!!!!!!!" Having caught wind of the emcee's tweet, Al Green simply replied, "Yes."

Surprised by the 75-year-old singer's response, the "Like a Martian" spitter exclaimed, "JESUS CHRIST! GOD BLESS YOU!!" The hip-hop star went on to gush, "IM FINA TELL MY MOM AND DAD AL GREEN TWEETED ME!! LOL."

Many have since laughed at the interaction between the two musicians. One fan in particular wrote, "LMFAOOOO it's the 'yes' for me." Another echoed the sentiment, "it's the casual ' yes ' for me," adding one laughing crying emoji. A third chimed in, "It's the simple 'yes' in response to that nonsense for me."

Some others, on the other hand, confessed that they shared the same question with Lil B. "Well I be damn. I thought he was dead too," one person commented, with someone else writing, "Chile I ain't know he was still alive either." A third penned, "hell I wondered the same thing too tho!"

It's understandable that Lil B thought Al Green was dead. He has long been devoting himself to the church and becoming a pastor. "I was hooked up on jet planes, good times, fast women. Everything of mine was fast," Al Green told The Guardian in 2010.

"I was born again in 1973, when I was just getting started in music," the Arkansas native further explained. "I looked up at the sky saying: 'What are you doing? I just had a song on the radio and now you gonna give me religion?'

Sherri Shepherd is expressing her gratitude. Taking to her social media page, the former "The View" co-host revealed that hosting "The Wendy Williams Show" is her "silent dream." Her post came after it's reported that Wendy Williams is "jealous over" her success.

On Friday, December 17, the 54-year-old posted a series of photos and videos of her behind-the-scenes on her Instagram account. "My final day on @wendyshow … thank you #wendywilliams for letting me sit in for you and at the same time live a silent dream," the TV hostess, who donned a Santa Clause-inspired dress with a corset, captioned her post. "Tune in today for a Merry Sherri Christmas!"

Her post has since been flooded with fans begging her to "permanently" host the daytime talk show. "Why can't you just stand in for Wendy full time?" one asked, which prompted her to respond, "That's not what they want. I am content [love emoji]."

"Dang I thought you had 2 weeks," a separate social media user commented. In response, Sherri wrote, "One is enough," adding a laughing with tears emoji. One person chimed in, "When do you start full time on the show?? You're the best host she has had this season!!"

Another person, who was concerned about her health following her emergency appendicitis surgery, penned, "You look so festive and joyous. Sherri, you're an amazing person to finish your stint as guest host after having emergency surgery. I was concerned, but you look like you're just fine so I'm going to hush and let God keep doing His wonderful work." Sherri then replied, "When I tell you the miracle that God worked out in my body. I was not in ANY pain…just tenderness

Report details 'failure' in handling of 1st Smollett case

CHICAGO (AP) — The initial handling of allegations that former "Empire" actor Jussie Smollett had staged a fake attack in Chicago represented a “major failure of operations" by the local prosecutor's office, according to a lawyer who was appointed to review the case.

The 68-page report released Monday detailed multiple instances of false statements by State's Attorney Kim Foxx and others in her office in 2019, when they first prosecuted Smollett before abruptly dropping the charges weeks later.

Some of her office's actions may be violations of legal ethics, special prosecutor Dan Webb concluded, though he found nothing criminal.

Smollett, who is Black and gay, was recently convicted of lying to police in January 2019 about what he said was a racist, homophobic attack. Webb, who took over the case, said Smollett staged the attack to get publicity. Smollett is expected to be sentenced in 2022.

Webb released a portion of the report, including its major conclusions, in 2020. The full report released Monday documents interviews with Foxx, dozens of employees in her office, Chicago police officers and friends and family members of Smollett.

Foxx had recused herself from the Smollett case before it was dropped. She told Webb's team that she was surprised when all 16 counts against Smollett were dropped, and that she believed he should have been required to admit some wrongdoing.

Foxx also said she believed prosecutors in her office “wanted to get this guy out of town” because of the media attention that accompanied the case.

Foxx later said in a media statement that the case was dropped just like thousands of other similar cases, which Webb concluded was not true.

“The fact that such a significant mischaracterization could be asserted without sufficient vetting ... is unacceptable for an office that must be transparent and maintain public confidence,” Webb's report states.

Webb also found that Foxx improperly changed her public position about the strength of the evidence against Smollett. After calling the case against him “strong,” she wrote in a Chicago Tribune editorial shortly after the charges were dropped that securing a conviction was “uncertain.” That pivot was “false and misleading,” Webb concluded.

In response Monday, the state's attorney's office said it remains “steadfast that the office acted within its broad prosecutorial discretion.”

“A prosecutor’s discretion is as broad as any in the law, and differences of opinion as to how a case was handled do not signify an abuse of discretion," the statement said.

Webb also pursued the investigation against Smollett, and a grand jury in 2020 indicted him on new charges of lying to police. A jury convicted the 39-year-old earlier this month on five of six counts of disorderly conduct, a low-level felony.

Smollett has maintained his innocence, and his attorney said they will appeal the conviction.

Judge Michael Toobin, who appointed Webb as special prosecutor, said the full report should be made public now that Smollett's trial is complete.

Jordan Brand Reveals Spring 2022 Retro Line, Including The Return Of Ajxii “Playoff” Colorway

Jordan Brand has revealed its Spring 2022 retro line. For a new generation of fans, the spring 2022 retro line commemorates Michael Jordan with an OG-everything AJXII and an entire collection that speaks to his competitive spirit, dominance, and greatness.

2022 celebrates the 25th anniversary of the Air Jordan XII and highlights the sneaker’s defining moment: Game 5 of the finals when a 103-degree fever couldn’t stop Jordan from tallying 38-7-5.

Jordan Brand is releasing the original playoff colorway of the Air Jordan XII in its OG specs, returning the leather upper, mudguard, and carbon fiber shank plate. The shoe made its debut in Cleveland during the 1997 All-Star Weekend. 25 years later, the annual NBA midseason showcase returns to Cleveland, where the shoe will release again.

“We don’t want to release these OG colorways randomly,” says Donald Kelsey, Jordan Brand Product Director, Global Retro Line. “It has to be tethered in some way to MJ’s story. Our team is serious about connecting the dots for when these OG models or colorways release. The diehard fans can see that we care about preserving history, while new fans are invited to dig into their curiosity and explore the reasons for timing. Why now? Why this shoe? Then the answers start flowing. We never launch a retro in isolation.”

Meet the new Pet in the White House…..Meet Commander!

President Joe Biden just welcomed a new member to his family.

A spokesperson for First Lady Jill Biden confirmed the news to CNN when a new puppy was spotted playing on the South Lawn of the White House .

The new puppy’s breed hasn’t been announced yet, but sources think that it could be a German Shepherd, a similar breed, or even a combination of two breeds.

The puppy’s name is Commander, and he is an early Christmas present to Joe Biden from the rest of his family.

The Biden Family Is Very Familiar With The German Shepherd Breed

In June, the Biden family lost their beloved German Shepherd Champ, who made it to the ripe old age of 13. Champ had been with their family since 2008 and had passed away at the Biden family home in Wilmington, Delaware.

“Our hearts are heavy today as we let you all know that our beloved German Shepherd, Champ, passed away peacefully at home,” Joe Biden said in a statement. “He was our constant, cherished companion during the last 13 years and was adored by the entire Biden family.”

“He loved nothing more than curling up at our feet in front of a fire at the end of the day, joining us as a comforting presence in meetings, or sunning himself in the White House garden,” he continued. “In his younger days, he was happiest chasing golf balls on the front lawn of the Naval Observatory or racing to catch our grandchildren as they ran around our backyard in Delaware.”

That is not the only pet that the Biden family has. Biden also has a German Shepherd rescue named Major who has been living in Wilmington, Delaware.

In March, Major bit two people: a member of the Secret Service and a National Park Service worker, which gained national attention.

In April, the President announced that Major was going to be sent to Wilmington for “extensive training” to help him adjust to life inside the White House. Major is only three years old.

In April, First Lady Jill Biden hinted that they have a cat “waiting in the wings.” According to sources familiar with the situation, the cat is being fostered at the moment until they can figure out the best time to move it into the White House.

There is no date set for when the cat will officially become part of the Biden household, but “it is expected to be in the very near future,” according to CNN.

The Biden family isn’t the only celebrity who has adopted a cat recently! Singer Britney Spears recently teased that she was welcoming a “new addition” to her family in an Instagram post that gained over 18 thousand guesses!

Keyshia Cole Says She’s Going Celibate In 2022

Keyshia Cole is going celibate in 2022.BThe R&B songstress has announced that she’s swearing off sex in the new year.

“I’m tackling celibacy this entire next year,” Cole told her Twitter followers.

She received support from fans. “I remember when you first came into the industry, you were focused, men were not in your view like that at all,” wrote one fan, to which Keyshia replied, “How u think I wrote all them songs boo? Them ninja’s were there. Just ass holes and full of shit, like they are now.”

Cole had previously been in a relationship with Niko Khale. The former couple welcomed a son in August 2019.

Sex is not the only thing Keyshia has given up. She is also abstaining from alcohol in the wake of the death of her biological mother, Frankie Lons, in July.

“Stopped drinking when my momma passed on,” she tweeted.

She is not the first celebrity to give up sex. Nick Cannon announced that he too was practicing celibacy after welcoming four children in seven months. “I’m going to see if I can make it to 2022,” he said during his appearance on “Drink Champs.”

Meanwhile, Keyshia is back in the studio working on new music after announcing her retirement in March. In February, she dropped her latest single, “I Don’t Wanna Be in Love.”

Drakeo The Ruler’s Mother Plans To Sue Over His Murder

Drakeo the Ruler was fatally stabbed backstage at the Once Upon a Time in L.A. music festival on Saturday night.

Less than 48 hours after his murder, his mother is speaking out. In an interview with Rolling Stone at her L.A. home, an emotional Darrylene Corniel reflected on her son’s final moments and vowed to get justice.

“I need this to be out there. I need people to know. And I do want justice for my son. And I do believe that justice will be served,” she said. “I will not rest until justice is served.”

According to Corniel, Drakeo was backstage with a small group of people, including his younger brother Devonte Caldwell aka Ralfy the Plug, when they were “swamped” by a large crowd arriving at the same time as YG.

“They said there were like 40 to 60 people,” she said. “Everything just happened so quickly. They started trying to jump them.”

While she has yet to speak with investigators, she has her own theory about the killer’s motivation. “It is such a shame how much jealousy and envy can make people stoop to such low tactics to try to destroy another individual because of fame and progress,” she said. “When you start getting up there, people start getting intimidated. So, I believe once his platform started going higher, people started getting upset.”

Corniel also faults the venue security for not doing its job. “They let all these people in, and you’re not supposed to have all these people backstage. And your security is supposed to be in place,” she said. “You had more people come in than you were supposed to. And you allowed them to jump my son. You didn’t protect my son.”

Concert promoter Live Nation said that the incident happened “in a roadway backstage” at the Banc of California Stadium in L.A.’s Exposition Park. As a result, the festival ended early before headliners Snoop Dogg and 50 Cent took the stage.

“We plan to sue,” Corniel said. “This happened backstage at an event. Someone has to be held accountable.”

Corniel saw her eldest son for the last time through a hospital window. “I wasn’t able to hug him or kiss him or anything like that. I had to look at him through a window,” she said.

In the wake of Drakeo’s death, his friends in the industry have shared tributes including Drake and Saweetie. Snoop Dogg and Wiz Khalifa also called for peace in hip-hop amid the tragedy.

Jenifer Lewis Calls Congress To Investigate Kendrick Johnson’s Mysterious Death

After narrating and producing Finding Kendrick Johnson, “Black-ish” star Jenifer Lewis is calling for a renewed sense of urgency in solving the murder of Kendrick Johnson and urging Congress to investigate.

Almost nine years ago on January 11, 2013, the body of 17-year-old Black teenager Kendrick Johnson “was found in a vertically rolled-up gym mat at his high school…To this day, the crime remains unsolved. The preliminary autopsy ruled his death accidental, but the family, doubting it was an accident due to the state in which his body was found and because surveillance footage went missing, ordered a private, second autopsy that concluded death by blunt force trauma.”

Finding Kendrick Johnson premiered after an Oscar-qualifying run in theaters, and is told through the lens of Johnson’s friends and family. Per the IMDB plot summary, this film is the “product of a 4 year undercover investigation into the facts of this case…[and] this new documentary hopes to shed light on one of the most important American stories of our time. So what really happened to KJ?”

Lewis appeared on TMZ Live this past Wednesday, saying “This is the most important film I’ve ever worked on. What this family has gone through is unspeakable but we must speak it so the public knows the truth.” Lewis told stated, “You know how much evidence the FBI has to have to storm somebody’s house with guns AK- 47s out? And then when they got in there and saw that it was an FBI agent, it was just pushed under the rug, just pushed under the rug. Another Black kid. So what?”

The Department of Justice released a statement in 2016 following the culmination of an over two year long federal probe stating, “After extensive investigation into this tragic event, federal investigators determined that there is insufficient evidence to prove beyond a reasonable doubt that someone or some group of people willfully violated Kendrick Johnson’s civil rights or committed any other prosecutable federal crime. Accordingly, the investigation into this incident has been closed without the filing of federal criminal charges.”

Earlier this year, the investigation into Johnson’s death was reopened. Ashley Paul, Sheriff of Lowndes County, who came out of retirement in 2017 requested information that was collected as a result of the federal investigation be released to his department in April of 2019. Three months later in July of 2019, Paulk’s request was denied by federal investigators, but Paulk suspects a November 2020 visit by the Johnsons led to the eventual release of the results to Paulk’s office of “17 boxes of written and electronic evidence from the federal investigation” the Atlanta Voice reports.

Director Jason Pollock spoke with The Hollywood Reporter about the case saying, “[f]inding the answer is not as important as elevating KJ’s legacy into the culture and making sure that this wasn’t just a regional Georgia story, but an international story.” In an interview with PEOPLE, Pollock said, “There’s no conspiracy theories in the film…But these are the facts. These are the facts that are irrefutable that are mostly from the state’s own documents.”

Alabama Judge Removed for Calling Colleagues “Uncle Tom,” “Fat B—” and “Heifer”

An Alabama judge was removed from the bench for violating several codes of ethics. She called a judge “Uncle Tom,” another one, a “fat b****” and one of her employees “heifer.”

Jefferson County Judge Nakita Blocton, who is black, was caught engaging in a pattern of abuse towards her staff and co-workers. She recently called a judge “Uncle Tom” which refers to a black person being especially obedient to white people. According to the findings of commissions that filed a complaint against her, she has multiple ethics violations.

She called one of her employees “heifer” and has verbally abused others. Employees reported that she demanded their private cell phones and log-ins to desktops so that she could erase all information that was being used against her in an open investigation. She also requested they worked unreasonable hours and an excessive amount in a week, including late nights.

Fox News reports she was caught being deceptive and dishonest in several instances. “According to an initial complaint made against the judge in May, one person involved in divorce litigation said the judge used online aliases to send several threatening messages which included, ‘THE DEVIL IS WATCHING U, LEAVE THOSE BLACK WOMEN DEMOCRATS ALONE.'”

A judge who handled Blocton’s backlog earlier this year noted the “appalling” amount of cases still pending for her review. Apparently, she had gotten in contact with litigants via Facebook to affect the outcome in the cases. She also asked potential witnesses to delete any conflicting evidence.

Blocton was removed on Dec. 10 after nine judges on the Alabama Court of the Judiciary decided on it. Blocton has yet to make a comment
