National Youth Poet Laureate Amanda Gorman  for Vogue US, May 2021!
It has been a big year for National Youth Poet Laureate Amanda Gorman. First came the opportunity to deliver an original poem at the inauguration of President Joe Biden, which she did in an eye-grabbing, sunshine yellow coat from Prada that captured the optimism of the day. Soon after followed news of representation from IMG, which would help her score brand deals and speaking engagements alike. Now, just a few months later, Gorman has reached a fashion peak: scoring the May 2021 cover of U.S. Vogue.

The glossy tapped longtime favorite photographer Annie Leibovitz to capture the artist, styled in looks from the likes of Virgil Abloh's Louis Vuitton and Maria Grazia Chiuri's Dior by Gabriella Karefa-Johnson. Rounding out the styling team is Raisa Flowers on makeup and Lacy Redway on hair.
In the accompanying article by Doreen St. FΓ©lix, Gorman estimates she's turned down some $17 million in offers to partner with brands. "I have to be conscious of taking commissions that speak to me," she. said. St. FΓ©lix noted Gorman is "wary about being perceived as a model" after signing with IMG, which, well-timed to the Inauguration as the announcement was, had been in the works long before her moment of national fame. When it came time to get dressed for the Inauguration, Gorman reached out to Prada just five days before, as they were the only brand with which she'd developed a relationship; these days, she has to have her team request that fashion brands stop sending flowers to her apartment. (Allergies!)

So, anyone looking to congratulate Gorman on her Vogue cover: Might we suggest sending a nice bottle of champagne instead?

The May issue of Vogue hits newsstands on April 20, but you can read the full story now on vogue.com.

#RHOA: Here's How Big Freedia Reacted After That Dinner with the Ladies!
When Drew Sidora took the ladies on a girls’ trip to New Orleans on the April 4 episode of The Real Housewives of Atlanta, she decided to surprise them with something “super dope.” But when her cast mates walked into the kitchen and realized it was time for a cooking class, they weren’t totally thrilled to see what Drew had in store for them. (As Porsha Williams put it, “I gotta put on an apron and cook? Um, hello! I’m on vacation!”) Of course, they all changed their tune when they realized what they were really about to do: learn to make “booty poppin’ potatoes” with recording artist and kitchen diva, Big Freedia.

After the women had some fun cooking dinner, they sat down together for a meal with Big Freedia. But after only a few minutes of enjoying what they’d whipped up in the kitchen, things started to go south when tensions arose in relation to a situation between Marlo Hampton, Kenya Moore and Porsha. As the conversation got heated, Big Freedia seemed to be quite confused, and eventually said “I’m very lost,” before getting up from the table.

WATCH
A few of the ladies had some strong opinions about what went down that night, with Kandi Burruss saying, “Why are you trying to embarrass us in front of Big Freedia?” in an interview during the episode, and Drew adding, “It was a completely slap in the face to show our asses in front of Big Freedia and disrespectful to not put all our differences aside in an effort to be gracious.”

So what did Big Freedia think of the night? Well, if Instagram is any indication, it seems like there were no hard feelings. In an Instagram Story, she shared two photos from the night, writing, “Appreciate y’all” and “thanks for having me.”

#MusicNews: Prince’s Unreleased Album ‘Welcome 2 America’ Will Arrive This Summer!
Five years after Prince's death, the artist's estate has announced that it is releasing songs from his previously unreleased album, Welcome 2 America.
"Recorded in 2010 before the 'Welcome 2 America Tour,' the studio album #Welcome2America documents Prince’s concerns, hopes, and visions for a shifting society, presciently foreshadowing an era of political division, disinformation, and a renewed fight for racial justice," the Prince Estate and Sony’s Legacy Recordings said in a statement on Thursday (April 8).
The LP's title track, "Welcome 2 America," was released on Thursday as part of the album announcement.

"Throughout the powerful song, Prince delivers a searing, spoken-word soliloquy set to music about golden parachutes, the superficial nature of social media, reality TV-fueled celebrity culture, and corporate monopolies in the music industry, ultimately concluding that America is the 'Land of the free / home

Shortly after Prince completed the Welcome 2 America album, he embarked on a tour of the same name, per Variety. He concluded the tour, which included multiple performances in several U.S. cities, with the historic “21 Nite Stand” at The Forum in Inglewood, California. The deluxe edition of Welcome 2 America will include a never-before-released full concert video of Prince’s April 28, 2011 show at The Forum as well as the complete studio vault album on both CD and black vinyl (accompanied with a hi-resolution digital download), the outlet reported.

60 Minutes correspondent Jon Wertheim was given a preview of the album, as well as the story of its making, for a segment that will air this Sunday (April 11) on CBS.

Welcome 2 America drops July 30.

DMX's ex-wife is remembering the late rapper one day after his death.

"Happy, happy birthday to me. April 10, 1971. Wow, what a ride. What a journey. As I close up the last 50 years of my life, I rejoice and I thank God for everything it has taught me. "I celebrate my life today grateful to God for the 50 years He has given me. But now I also celebrate my ex-husband, my best friend, my spiritual partner, my mentor. ‘The Talk’ to Return Monday With ‘Discussion About Race and Healing’ in First Post-Sharon Osbourne Show!
Guests Donald E. Grant and Anita Phillips will weigh in on how to have “difficult” conversations and “heal” after a painful event
“The Talk” returns with new episodes on Monday, the first to air since co-host Sharon Osbourne left the show last month, beginning with a “discussion about race and healing,” CBS said Friday.

The April 12 episode of the daytime talker, which counts  Sheryl Underwood, Carrie Ann Inaba, Amanda Kloots and Elaine Welteroth among its remaining co-hosts, will feature guests Donald E. Grant, an expert on diversity, equity, inclusion and justice, and nationally acclaimed trauma therapist and life coach Anita Phillips. Grant will be “offering advice on how to have these difficult conversations,” while Phillips “will share her expertise on how to heal after a painful event or conversation.”

During “The Talk’s” March 10 show, Osbourne came to the defense of longtime friend Piers Morgan after he was criticized for making disparaging comments about Meghan Markle. Some critics, including Underwood, said Morgan’s words where racially motivated (Markle, whose mother is Black, is biracial), leading to an on-air meltdown in which Osbourne said she felt like she was “about to be put in the electric chair” for having a racist friend.

Soon after the discussion, “The Talk” went on hiatus as CBS launched an internal review into the on-air comments about racism and allegations of racially insensitive behavior behind-the-scenes at the show. A few weeks later, on March 26, Osbourne exited the show.
“The events of the March 10 broadcast were upsetting to everyone involved, including the audience watching at home,” CBS said in a statement at the time of Osbourne’s exit. “As part of our review, we concluded that Sharon’s behavior toward her co-hosts during the March 10 episode did not align with our values for a respectful workplace. We also did not find any evidence that CBS executives orchestrated the discussion or blindsided any of the hosts.”

“At the same time, we acknowledge the Network and Studio teams, as well as the showrunners, are accountable for what happened during that broadcast as it was clear the co-hosts were not properly prepared by the staff for a complex and sensitive discussion involving race,” the statement continued.

Osbourne apologized for her behavior during that March 10 discussion, writing in a lengthy statement on Twitter that she “panicked, felt blindsided, got defensive & allowed my fear & horror of being accused of being racist take over.” However, she has taken a more combative stance in subsequent interviews, blaming the show’s producers for intentionally blindsiding her with the segment about Morgan, calling it “the biggest set up ever” in an interview with ET before her “Talk” exit.

During an episode of Underwood’s podcast, which was released over the weekend as part of a three-installment discussion about Osbourne’s exit from “The Talk,” she said that “none” of the questions she asked Osbourne that day came from producers or executives. You can read more about that here.

Oprah Winfrey to pay tribute to music icon Tina Turner at Clive Davis party!
Oprah Winfrey reportedly will pay tribute to Tina Turner at Clive Davis’ Grammys party.
The TV icon has been interviewed by the influential music producer for his upcoming celebration, and the duo took the opportunity to discuss the legacy of the 81-year-old singer.
A source told the New York Post newspaper’s Page Six column: “He interviewed her for 90 minutes … it will, of course, be edited.

“It’s linked to one of his favorite Tina Turner performances, and there was quite a bit of discussion around Tina.
“Clive was very excited that he got Oprah. It’s a big deal. He was like, ‘Can you believe this?'”
Rather than his usual Beverly Hilton Pre-Grammys party, Clive instead held a virtual star-studded bash in January with the likes of Bruce Springsteen, Gayle King, Alicia Keys and Joni Mitchell joining in the fun.

He had to postpone the second edition after being diagnosed with Bell’s Palsy in February.
At the time, his representative said: “He is in good spirits and looks forward to doing the second half of his pre-Grammy gala in May.”

He has since recovered and while a specific date is yet to be confirmed, the event is still expected next month.

Turner has been plagued with a number of health issues in recent years, including kidney failure, and it was her husband Erwin Bach who stepped up to donate a kidney to her in 2017.
During her health battle, the singer admitted she “began to think about death” and would “accept” if it was her time to go.

She said: “It wasn’t my idea of life but the toxins in my body had started taking over. I couldn’t eat. I was surviving, but not living. I began to think about death. If my kidneys were going, and it was time for me to die, I could accept that, it was OK. When it’s time, it’s time.”

Chris Brown’s Porsche Damaged In Valet Crash!
Chris Brown didn’t go crazy despite a chaotic situation. The R&B singer was leaving celebrity hotspot The Nice Guy in West Hollywood on Friday around 1 a.m. when a driver reportedly slammed into the back of one of the valet parked vehicles, triggering a domino effect.

According to TMZ, an airbag in one car deployed and several cars were damaged including Chris’ charcoal, yellow, and white-striped Porsche, which was impacted on the front and the back. A series of other expensive whips were involved in the pileup along La Cienega Blvd. including a Rolls-Royce Cullinan and Mercedes GLE.
Instead of flipping out after seeing his wrecked car, Chris played it cool and didn’t seem concerned as he left the venue. “I got 10 of these,” he told TMZ before hopping in the driver’s seat and taking off in the damaged Porsche.

The LAPD has launched an investigation into the crash, which appears to be a standard traffic accident involving one vehicle slamming into multiple cars. No injuries have been reported and no arrests have been made. The driver of the car that allegedly caused the destruction was seen getting out of the vehicle before his car was towed.

Chris had every reason to be upset, but he’s come a long way. Back in 2018, paparazzi caught the singer getting into an argument with a valet reportedly over the service charge. Chris threatened to put hands on the guy, telling him, “I should knock you out but I’m not.”

Pregnant Meghan Markle won’t join Harry at Prince Philip’s funeral!
Prince Harry will fly to the UK to attend his grandfather Prince Philip’s funeral on Saturday, but his wife, Meghan Markle, won’t be with him.
Markle, who is due to give birth to the couple’s second child, a girl, in early summer will stay home in California on her doctor’s advice, Buckingham Palace announced — even though she flew to New York for a baby shower while seven months pregnant with son Archie in February 2019.

She had hoped to be at Harry’s side, a royal source told The Post. But the trip, and the 12-hour flight, were deemed potentially too taxing.
“The Duke of Sussex is planning to attend,” a royal spokesman said at a press briefing, using Harry’s other title.
“The Duchess of Sussex has been advised by her physician not to travel. So the duke will be attending.”

The funeral at Windsor Castle’s St. George’s Chapel will be an intimate affair, limited to 30 participants under strict UK social-distancing rules.
Not even Prime Minister Boris Johnson will attend, so as to allow space for as many royal family members as possible.
Philip died Friday at home at the castle, just two months short of his 100th birthday.

He was honored Saturday with a 40-minute gun salute throughout the country.
Philip’s funeral will be the first time Harry, 36, has returned to his homeland since he and Markle, 39, quit the royal family just over a year ago, and it would be his first encounter since last month’s explosive interview with Oprah Winfrey, in which the couple made allegations of racism within the royal family.

Brits won’t welcome Prince Harry home, says Brexit leader Nigel Farage
During the interview, Markle said she was so miserable she was suicidal — and no one helped. Harry, meanwhile, told Oprah his father, Prince Charles, and brother, Prince William, are “trapped” within their senior roles.

But Harry talked warmly of his love for his grandmother, the queen, and a source said Friday he would not miss the funeral for the world.
“Harry was extremely close to his grandfather,” a royal source told The Post. “He will, of course, be there, no matter how difficult relations are between the Sussexes and the family.”
The queen has not spoken publicly on the death of her husband of 73 years, although her daughter-in-law, the Countess of Wessex — Prince Edward’s wife — said after visiting Saturday that she is doing “amazing” despite her loss.

On Saturday, Prince Charles, Elizabeth and Philip’s eldest child and heir to the throne, made his first statement on the loss of “my dear papa.”
“I particularly wanted to say, that my father spent the last 70 years giving the most remarkable, devoted service to the queen, to my family and the country, and also to home,” Charles said.
“And as you can imagine, my family and I miss my father enormously,” Charles told reporters camped out in front of his home in Gloucestershire.

“We are so deeply touched by the number of other people here and elsewhere around the world and the commonwealth who share our loss and our sorrow,” Charles said. “My dear papa was a very special person who I think above all else would have been amazed by the reaction and the touching things that have been said about him.”

Trey Songz Reaches Settlement With Alleged Victim In $10 Million Sexual Assault Lawsuit!
Trey Songz has reached a tentative settlement with the women who accused him of sexually assaulting her in a Miami nightclub in 2018.
In court documents obtained by The Blast, the alleged victim in the case, listed as Jane Doe, notified the court that she reached a deal with the singer.
In a letter to the court, the woman’s attorney wrote, “The Plaintiff and the Defendant have entered into a Settlement Agreement resolving all disputes between them.” The plaintiff wanted the court to approve the deal and effectively close the case.

According to Radar Online, the only reason why “the judge has yet to officially shut the case [is] due to issues between the woman and her lawyers over money.” Even with that being the hold up, the court’s high official is expected to “eventually approve the settlement.”

Alex Rodriguez Finalizing Deal to Buy Timberwolves!
Alex Rodriguez is closing in on finally owning a pro sports team.
via: New York Post: The former Yankees star and his close friend Marc Lore are finalizing a deal to become the new owners of the NBA’s Minnesota Timberwolves, according to reports.

Rodriguez and Lore, an e-commerce mogul, have a 30-day window to get the deal done after signing a letter of intent with current owner Glen Taylor on Saturday, according to The Athletic. Rodriguez and Lore would be 50-50 partners and would spend the first two and a half years as limited partners so Taylor, who has owned the Timberwolves for 27 years, can bow out.
The purchase price for the team, which hasn’t made the playoffs since the 2017-18 season, is expected to be in the $1.5 billion range, according to ESPN.

“We look forward to entering this phase of the process with Glen Taylor,” Rodriguez and Lore said in a joint statement. “Our respect for him and the legacy he has built lays an amazing foundation for what is to come. We are excited by the prospect of getting to know the Timberwolves organization, the talented team and their incredible fans.”

News of the deal comes about a year after A-Rod and Jennifer Lopez made an unsuccessful attempt to buy the New York Mets. The team was ultimately sold to Steve Cohen for $2.4 billion.

#PRAYERSUPπŸ‘ Ne-Yo’s Wife, Crystal Smith, Asks For Prayer For Their Unborn Child!
Ne-Yo’s wife, Crystal Smith, is asking for prayers for their unborn child. The reality star took to her Instagram on Monday after being rushed to the emergency room for an undisclosed condition. Crystal shared some videos from the hospital as well as some sweet words to her unborn baby.

She wrote, “I will be strong for the both of us cause heaven is just going to have to wait for you. I’m not ready and I won’t be for many years to come. If I could split my heart in half to share with you then it would be done already. Mommy loves you and has enough faith to move mountains. My angel on earth. Stay baking in Gods oven because it’s not time just yet. Simply Asking for my prayer warriors right now.”
Ne-Yo and Crystal Smith announced in February that they are expecting their third child together.

“Overjoyed to announce… the family is expanding,” Ne-Yo wrote on Instagram on Sunday (Feb. 21). “You ready baby? Let’s go!”
Prior to sharing the baby news, the musician wrote a sweet tribute to his wife on their 6th anniversary. The couple, who tied the knot on February 20, 2016, were on the verge of getting a divorce last year, but decided to reconcile during quarantine.

Ne-YO shared in his tribute, “Today marks 6 years of marriage. It has been a bumpy beautiful, tragically terrific ride full of twists n’ turns, up’s n’ down’s…and I wouldn’t have it any other way. We’ve grown so much. With the understanding that we’ve still got some growing to do of course, I have to acknowledge how far we’ve come. I think once we both realized that marriage isn’t ownership…but partnership, we found our tempo, our melody. And now we’ve become a beautiful harmony. I pray we sing this song forever.”

Adding, “To my other half, my Lovely, my muth$%@^’ homie, my rock, my partner, my forever. HAPPY 6 YEAR ANNIVERSARY! You fell in love with a songwriter, so the words come easy and can be mistaken for pacification. But I love you like lungs love oxygen. So I’m gonna SHOW YOU as often as humanly possible.”

Ne-Yo and Crystal are already proud parents to Roman Alexander-Raj, 2, and 6-year-old Shaffer Chimere Jr. Ne-Yo, born Shaffer Chimere Smith, also has Mason Evan, 9, and Madilyn Grace, 10, from a previous relationship.

Ashanti And Flo Rida Further Spark Romance Rumors With Mexican Vacay!

For the beach vacation, Ashanti opted to don a Dior bikini and matching bucket hat. Meanwhile, Flo Rida also wore a Dior tank top.

Dwayne 'The Rock' Johnson calls poll showing support for his potential presidency 'humbling'!
It doesn't seem like Dwayne ‘The Rock” Johnson has ruled out a run for president, calling a poll that showed support for his candidacy “humbling.”
On Saturday, the 48-year-old Young Rock star, who has long dropped hints about a possible White House run, shared the results of a recent poll by research company Piplsay which found that 29 percent of U.S. adults would like to see him run for president and Matthew McConaughey for Texas governor (a position the True Detective star said he is "giving consideration") while 17 percent would solely support Johnson's campaign.
“Humbling,” Johnson, a father of three, wrote on Instagram. “I don’t think our Founding Fathers EVER envisioned a six-four, bald, tattooed, half-Black, half-Samoan, tequila drinking, pick up truck driving, fanny pack wearing guy joining their club — but if it ever happens it’d be my honor to serve you, the people.”

Johnson has been sharing his political interests for years, telling British GQ in 2016, that he had not “ruled politics out.” He added, "I'm not being coy when I say that, but at the moment I am not sure. I can't deny that the thought of being governor, the thought of being president, is alluring. And beyond that, it would be an opportunity to make a real impact on people's lives on a global scale. But there are a lot of other things I want to do first."
The following year, the Jumanji star reiterated to GQ, “I think that it's a real possibility,” adding that both former President Donald Trump and Hillary Clinton had requested his endorsement of their respective campaigns, which he turned down for fear of influencing votes. At the time, reported the magazine, Johnson was registered as an independent.

However, in September, Johnson endorsed President Joe Biden and Vice President Kamala Harris as “the best choice to lead our country.” In the past, he wrote, he had voted for both Republican and Democrat candidates.
The Piplsay poll of more than 30,000 U.S. adults revealed public support for other imagined celebrity presidents: Tom Hanks (22 percent), Will Smith (21 percent) and George Clooney (17 percent). For the first female president, Angelina Jolie scored 30 percent of votes followed by Oprah Winfrey (27 percent) and Dolly Parton (12 percent).

Respondents were open-minded about celebrities as politicians with 45 percent claiming they are free to switch careers and 19 percent stating, “Anyone can join politics these days.” However, 12 percent felt that Hollywood lifestyles don't mesh with public service. Regardless, an overwhelming percent — 81 — say stars have the power to sway public opinion.

Kerry Washington Faces Backlash for Since-Deleted Tweet About DMX and Prince Philip ‘Chatting’ in Heaven!
Kerry Washington’s well-meaning tribute post has left her Twitter mentions in shambles.
The Emmy-nominated actress took to social media this week to react to the deaths of DMX and Prince Philip, who both died just hours apart on Friday. Although Washington’s post condoled the men’s deaths, many people began criticizing her message as both cringe-inducing and tone deaf, as she suggested the legendary rapper and Duke of Edinburgh were chopping it up together in heaven.

“Anybody else wondering what DMX and His Royal Highness Prince Philip are chatting about together at the pearly gates?” she wrote. “My love to both their families. May they both Rest in Peace.”
Washington ultimately deleted her tweet without explanation; however, just one look at some of the reactions below, and it’s easy to conclude why.
X’s family announced his death Friday morning, exactly one week after the 50-year-old rapper was hospitalized for a heart attack. Buckingham Palace confirmed Prince Philip’s death on the same day, just two months before what would’ve been his 100th birthday. Though the cause of Philip’s death has not been announced, he had spent the previous month in the hospital recovering from heart surgery and receiving treatment for an infection.

Kids ‘R Kids Preschool Terminates Contract With A Georgia Franchise Following Viral Footage Of Black Children With No Food!
Thanks to a parent sharing footage from his son’s preschool classroom showing White students sitting with plates of food and Black children with none, the Georgia preschool has lost its contract with Kids ‘R Kids.
Marquis, the preschooler’s father, shared the disturbing picture on his Instagram account, and it has since gone viral. The screenshot taken from the live video footage shows the White children seated with their food on a plate in front of them while the Black children waited to get their food, with some being seated at the same table as the White children, Black Enterprise reported.

“This is truly unbelievable,” Instagram user A-MAC commented. “You better know this won’t be the last time you hear from me on this. Why does every white kid have their food? Not one black child has food in front of them! Thank God for cameras in classrooms because there is no way to hide this racism! In the year 2021, this is truly unbelievable. As blacks, we always strive to send our kids to schools in Suburban areas, but I’m telling you first hand that is not always best. This is not a black or white issue. This is simply wrong! @kidsrkidscorporate I’ll be waiting feedback from your cooperate office on this,” he posted on IG.

A response came from the president and chief executive officer of Kids ‘R Kids International, Inc. It was an apology from their IG account, saying that it ended its contract with the preschool located in Georgia.
“The interactions captured on video by one of our families, yesterday, is disturbing and not in accordance with the inclusive culture that we promote at Kids ‘R’ Kids amongst our families, their children or our staff,” Vinson said in a separate posted statement. “We apologize to the family, the community and all of those impacted by the situation, and will use this as a learning tool to remind our Kids ‘R’ Kids staff on the importance of diversity and inclusivity.”

Vinson offered assistance to find other school options to any parent and child displaced following their decision to cut ties.

Nike settles lawsuit with the maker of Lil Nas X’s Satan Shoes!
The controversy surrounding Lil Nas X’s customized Nike Satan Shoes finally came to an end this week. On Thursday, April 8, the sneaker conglomerate announced that it had settled a lawsuit against MSCHF Product Studio Inc, the Brooklyn-based company that created Satan Shoes in collaboration with the “Old Town Road” rapper.
The settlement resolves a trademark infringement lawsuit that Nike filed over the black-and-red, devil-themed sneakers, which carry the Nike swoosh logo. MSCHF has agreed to a voluntary recall.

Nike’s full statement read:
“On March 29, Nike filed a lawsuit against MSCHF over its release of Satan Shoes, which used a Nike Air Max 97 as the base. MSCHF also previously released Jesus Shoes, which used a Nike Air Max 97 as the base. In both cases, MSCHF altered these shoes without Nike’s authorization. Nike had nothing to do with the Satan Shoes or the Jesus Shoes.

Today, April 8, Nike and MSCHF have agreed to settle the lawsuit.
As part of the settlement, Nike has asked MSCHF, and MSCHF has agreed, to initiate a voluntary recall to buy back any Satan Shoes and Jesus Shoes for their original retail prices, in order to remove them from circulation.
If any purchasers were confused, or if they otherwise want to return their shoes, they may do so for a full refund. Purchasers who choose not to return their shoes and later encounter a product issue, defect, or health concern should contact MSCHF, not Nike.

The parties are pleased to put this dispute behind them.”
The shoe was designed as part of a marketing campaign for  Lil Nas X’s new song, “Montero (Call Me By Your Name).”  Despite being the creative lead behind the shoe design, Lil Nas X was never named in the lawsuit. Other details of the settlement were not released.

AND FINALLY FROM “THE CRAZY PEOPLE SHOPPING AT WALMART” FILES
‘MR. GRONK-HOWLSKI’
Thought this was the coolest dog on Earth. But then I realized that’s not possible since he’s wearing a Patriots jersey. Still, even with that considered, he is a pretty chill dog.
