The Daily Buzz For June 29

Ricky Martin Is Planning a ‘Massive’ Wedding in Puerto Rico
Ricky Martin’s wedding is set to be unforgettable.

It’s been seven months since he announced he was engaged to Jwan Yosef and the planning is underway.
via E! News: “It’s going to be a big event. I want something massive,” Ricky told E! News while in Las Vegas for his “All In” residency. “I for sure want to get married in Puerto Rico. That is something that has to happen.”
He continued, “It’s where I’m from, where my family is from. He’s from Sweden and some of his relatives are from Syria so we’re going to do something international. We’ll see what happens.”

While Ricky’s enthusiasm to say “I Do” is contagious, the Grammy winner admits that planning isn’t exactly full-speed ahead. As it turns out, organizing a special ceremony is harder than it looks.

“Everybody is talking about the wedding but nobody is talking about the planning of the wedding because it’s so difficult,” he joked. “I didn’t know it was so complicated to put together an event like the one we want.”
Before he walks down the aisle, Ricky can be found at Park Theater inside the Monte Carlo Resort and Casino in Las Vegas where he performs his biggest hits in front of a packed house night after night. In addition to select dates in June and early July, Ricky will also headline a handful of shows in September.

Two people who love the show include Ricky’s twins Valentino and Matteo. In between visiting the aquariums and exploring the desert, the singer’s kids are close to dad at his concerts.
“I have them every night,” he shared. “As long as there’s no school the next day, they’re with me.”
As for how Ricky’s life has changed since becoming a dad, he’s the first to say that these boys take priority.

“Fatherhood changes everyone’s life. I know I’m not the only father that says it but everything I do is based on my kids,” the “Shake Your Bon-Bon” singer shared. ” Every decision that I make is based on them and my kids are very happy and that means we’re doing a good job. I’m very happy. It’s beautiful.”

We’ll be checking the mail for our invite.

#RHoA: Kandi Burruss Shines In Little Black Dress At BET Awards HOT or NOT!
Artist Kandi Burruss delivered a memorable performance at the 2017 BET Awards, but she also made headlines for her revealing little black dress.
While many people were talking about the ladies’ vocal cords, others were mesmerized by the LBD that the reality television star wore on the red carpet.
Burruss turned heads in a body-hugging creation that featured lace on the sleeves and a large cut-out that revealed a lot of cleavage.
The risqué dress has sparked a mini-debate amongst Burruss’ fans.
Some find she was glamorous and are happy she embraces her curves and feels comfortable to show whatever she desires.

Others said as a woman with a young daughter she should cover a bit.
One person said: “Looking beautiful, I love it.”
Another stated: “Mothers of children, especially you young ladies should reveal less. She is beautiful no question…… But c’mon, Damn Kandi, I see too much.”
What did YOU think? Is it HOT or NOT?

#EMPIRE: Gabourey Sidibe Makes Her Directorial Debut
Her film The Tale of Four premiered at the Nantucket Film Festival.

(via Boston Magazine) What would you do if someone offered you, regardless of your experience, money to make a movie? It could be whatever you wanted it to be, as long as it was completed within a year. Would you say yes?
Gabourey Sidibe, despite being an Academy Award-nominated actress and a published author, originally said no when Refinery 29 approached her about directing a movie for their Shatterbox Anthology, a program that champions women in film.

“Look, I know that I have a voice, a very specific voice, but I didn’t know how important and how big I could make it. I just wasn’t convinced of it yet,” Sidibe says of her initial pass to the proposal. Thankfully, her manager refused to let her give no as an answer, and as a result, Sidibe presented her short film The Tale of Four this past Sunday at the Nantucket Film Festival.

The film, which offers a peak inside the lives of four different black women and the struggles they’ve endured because of their race and their gender, was inspired by the song Four Women, by Nina Simone. The idea to turn the lyrics of a song into a movie wasn’t Sidibe’s idea, but her friend Kia Perry’s.

“Kia was visiting me in Chicago and she was like, ‘Listen to this song—this is what I want to do.’ I remembered her idea and I really wanted to see it happen. I said, ‘Why don’t you just let me direct it? We’ll get it made, and I’ll bring you on as a producer.’ So when I said yes to Refinery 29, I didn’t say yes for myself, because for some reason I wasn’t able to believe in myself yet, but I believed in Kia.”
From left: Gabourey Sidibe, Kia Perry, and guests attend “Afternoon Tea Talk” during the 2017 Nantucket Film Festival.

So for four hot days in August, Sidibe, Perry, and their cast and crew took their ideas to the northern tip of Manhattan and made a movie.
“The whole song was a really great short outline, but there was so much that we could do with it, there was so much freedom in between,” Sidibe says.
As a first-time filmmaker, Sidibe admits that she was scared and credits her cast and crew for giving her the confidence she needed.

“One of my mentors, Victoria Mahoney, said to me, ‘Make sure you have a crew that will respect you, because they already don’t want to because you’re a female.’” Sidibe made sure to surround herself with people whom she could trust and whom she could turn to for advice. “I had the least amount of directing experience. I knew that there was a lot to learn. I would’ve robbed myself of the opportunity to learn and to be a better director if I didn’t ask questions and if I didn’t leave room for improvement.”

And now, after all the planning, the unease, and the work, how does she feel seeing her film on the big screen?
“More than anything, I’m so proud, and not just for myself,” she says. “I’m really proud of Kia Perry and our really, really amazing crew and cast members. We made this movie with a small budget, but everyone said yes to us. Everyone wanted to do it because they believed in the project and they believed in us. So I’m most proud of that. I’m most proud of becoming a director under these people who thought I was just an actress. I just thought I was an actress. I didn’t know there was anything more. I’m pleasantly surprised that there is more.”

A Tale of Four will debut on Refinery 29 later this year.

#NEWMUSIC FROM Bruno Mars x David Guetta – Versace On The Floor (Remix)
After kicking off the 2017 BET Awards on Sunday with another electrifying performance, Bruno Mars surprises fans today (June 27) with a groovy new remix to his sexy single, “Versace On The Floor.”
Teaming up with platinum DJ/producer, David Guetta, the sultry retro-tinged ballad just got a smooth update, with silky R&B dance vibes and even a little vocoder for good measure!
“It is more than a remix; it is a collaboration and combination of different worlds together,” said Guetta of the enhancements he made to the 24K Magic track, which is being called “Bruno Mars vs David Guetta.”

“I hoped to create something that would not just be for one community, just like Bruno makes quality music that speaks to a wide audience,” Guetta continued. “He’s really a next level musician and songwriter. I knew that already, but by working on his music I realized it even more so.”

Mariah Carey Asked About Ex-Fiance James Packer's Whereabouts, Gives Hilarious Response
She could have said "I don't know him!" Mariah Carey gave a hilarious response when asked about her ex-fiancé James Packer's whereabouts on Monday, June 26.
The "We Belong Together" singer was in Israel promoting her partnership with skincare line Premier Dead Sea Cosmetics when she began to field questions about the billionaire.

"I don't know where the motherf—ker is!" she told Channel 2 News station in Tel Aviv, laughing. "How am I supposed to know? I have no idea. I really have no idea about the political stuff. I don't pay attention to it."

According to The Hollywood Reporter, Packer has a close relationship with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu. Packer has reportedly been wanted since March by Israeli police for questioning about others' possible corruption.
Carey, however, continued to dodge questions about her ex on Monday night. "I was eating the food," she said about the event. "They had some food there that was pretty good. I don't know. I was just there because I was invited to a dinner."

Carey and Packer ended their nine-month engagement in October 2016. Carey was previously married to music executive Tommy Mottola in the '90s and is mom of 6-year-old twins Moroccan and Monroe with ex-husband Nick Cannon.

Who Wore It Better: Monica Brown vs. Faith Evans Wearing Gucci Ghost Skirt
There is nothing wrong with a friendly fashion battle among the celebs. Many celebs have been seen out and about in some of the same haute pieces.  The pieces are possibly the hottest and trendiest item in Hollywood. In today’s showcase of Who Wore It Better, we have Monica Brown and Faith Evans wearing Gucci Ghost Skirt.
Last October, Monica posed for the ‘Gram wearing a Gucci embroidered bomber jacket styled with a midi Gucci Ghost skirt. Faith Evans was recently spotted heading to the ASCAP Awards wearing the Gucci Ghost skirt paired with the brand’s logo print shirt.

Brooklyn artist Trouble Andrew was invited by Alessandro Michele to collaborate on the Fall/Winter 2016 Fashion Show collection. The artist incorporated his art into Alessandro Michele’s designs. The final product is a mix of two cultures-a juxtaposition of the past and the present.
The Gucci Ghost print silk duchesse skirt features pleated details, ribbon detail at the waist, side zip closure, an a-line shape, sits high on the waist, and is made from 100% silk.

Who do you think rocked the $3,600 pleated midi skirt: Monica Brown vs. Faith Evans?

HALLELUJAH! The Knicks Are Done With Phil Jackson!
Knicks fans are perhaps permanently broken and unable to experience joy. But they can still find a reasonable simulacrum of it in relief. Phil Jackson, after three years of somehow making a terrible, dispirited, dysfunctional franchise even worse in all categories, is out as team president.

ESPN broke the news overnight, and the local tabloids are confirming it this morning: Owner James Dolan is going to eat the two years and $24 million remaining on Jackson’s five-year contract just to get Phil out of the paint before he alienates the team beyond repair.
One reason is Jackson’s beef with Kristaps Porzingis, the only positive thing to happen to this team since that month Jeremy Lin was good. Jackson has been holding a grudge since Porzingis skipped his exit meeting, apparently never considering the reasons Porzingis was unhappy: The Knicks fired his favorite assistant coach, they insisted on running an offense he didn’t like, the team wasn’t improving, and they certainly weren’t getting him any help, to the point of constantly trying to drive off Carmelo Anthony, his only decent teammate.

But it was apparently Jackson’s showdown with Anthony that ultimately did him in. Ramona Shelburne writes:
Conversations about what was best for the team’s future between Jackson and Knicks owner James Dolan accelerated this week when the franchise decided it would not buy out embattled forward Carmelo Anthony, sources said.
Jackson, 71, had made it well known that he felt it was best for Anthony and the organization to part ways, both publicly and privately, but Anthony refused to waive his no-trade clause, and the Knicks were determined not to accommodate any request for a buyout. Anthony has two years worth over $54 million remaining on his deal.
With no end to the stalemate in sight, and free agency beginning on July 1, Jackson’s discussions with Dolan accelerated late Tuesday night and the decision was made to part ways.

Jackson’s attachment to his triangle offense was another reason for this split: Not only were Knicks players and coaches reportedly complaining about it all year, especially when he demanded at midseason that it become an even bigger part of the offense, but it has actively turned off potential free agents. Now the current Knicks and any signings (free agency, which starts July 1, will be overseen by GM Steve Mills) are free to play in coach Jeff Hornacek’s preferred faster-paced offense.

In three seasons in New York, Jackson did one good thing—draft Porzingis—and lost 166 games while nearly chasing Porzingis off. The 21st century Knicks are where legacies go to die, and given that this might be Jackson’s last stop, he might have done more damage to his own aura than to the Knicks franchise.

Meanwhile, the Knicks will enter free agency with a projected 2017-18 lineup that includes Frank Ntilikina, Courtney Lee, Carmelo Anthony, and Kristaps Porzingis, the last two of whom should be happy for the first time in a while. That’s ... that’s not actually a terrible team. Maybe the clouds are breaking. Maybe there are sunnier days ahead.

Or maybe Dolan’s going to bring back Isiah Thomas to run things.

Rihanna’s New Billionaire Boy Toy, Hassan Jameel is Saudi Arbian
He really isn’t white tho ‘Hassan’?

Rihanna has a new super duper hot man in her life and the Internet is having a field day with the big news.
Photos surfaced on Tuesday of Badgalriri in a swimming pool mid serious makeup sesh while in Spain. In the images, the Barbadian beauty can be seen locking lips and tongue with Hassan Jameel, an heir to Toyota.
Apparently, this is not just a quick fling for the singer. A source told The Sun, “This relationship is the real deal. Rihanna has told friends she’s in love with him and seems completely smitten.”

The insider added, “They’ve been spending a lot of time together away from prying eyes and are really serious. They’re really enjoying each others’ company.”

According to reports, Jameel was also at one point linked to model, Naomi Campbell.
The Internet, however, remains undefeated after users began curating memes and posts about the singer’s new man choice. Basically, he ain’t Black. In fact, the photos sparked a new hashtag, #RihannaHasAManParty.

LaLa Anthony Not Ready to Divorce Carmelo Anthony Yet: ’I Love Him With All My Heart'
So you’re saying there’s a chance?! After separating from husband Carmelo Anthony in April, La La Anthony seemed somewhat open to a reconciliation during her appearance on The Wendy Williams Show Tuesday, June 27.
When host Wendy Williams flat out asked if the 38-year-old Power star was divorcing her NBA pro husband of seven years, Anthony said: “Not right now. You know marriages are tough … it's filled with ups and downs. We are just going through a time right now."
Despite the rough patch, the actress revealed that the former couple’s biggest priority is Kiyan, their 10-year-old son.
“Him and I are the best of friends and our No. 1 commitment is to our son, Kiyan, and we have to set an example for Kiyan and that's what's most important to me,” the TV personality shared. “I would absolutely never say a bad thing about my husband. That’s my son’s father and he is an amazing dad.”
Anthony said she still loves her 33-year-old spouse despite the split. “I don't know what the future holds,” she admitted. “I just know that we are doing an incredible job again being parents to our son. We are the best of friends. I've been with Melo since he was 19 years old. You're not with somebody that long, and it just goes out the window. I love him with all my heart, and we are the best of friends."

The couple married in 2010 at a lavish, star-studded ceremony and were together for 12 years.
