John Legend Covers UPTOWN Magazine
And the soon-to-be-married crooner John Legend is covering the newest issue of UPTOWN magazine. The Ivy League grad (U Penn) opened up more than usual about love, his fiancee and more. Here's a few highlights:
On his & Chrissy Teigen's relationship
We got engaged in 2011 and we are getting married later this year. I am looking forward to having kids and growing old together. That’s why we are doing it, because we intend to stay together forever. We have already been together for quite some time. It’s been great. I have learned a lot about myself, and hopefully we will continue to grow.
On why he loves her
She is beautiful, smart, and hilarious. She has a great heart and we have great chemistry.
On rumors of them having a "fake" industry relationship
I don’t really worry about it. During the early part of your career, you worry more about what other people say, especially when it comes to gossip. I am too old for that now. I feel very grown in a sense of knowing who I am and knowing what I want out of life and my relationships. I am just not bothered by random gossip that keeps Twitter and the Internet going. I know why it’s done: People need stuff to post on their blogs. Let them have at it. You can’t allow those things to define you and who you are. When you’re 34 and you have been in this business for a while, you don’t allow blogs and gossip to define you.
On the best part about being famous
Traveling the world, getting the acclaim and love from the fans. I enjoy it. It’s nice to get a reservation at a great restaurant at the last minute. You can get into any club that you want to get into and have the red carpet rolled out for you. Everyone loves to be treated [like they are] special. Fame earns you that privilege. Of course, you lose things as well. But the good outweighs the bad.
On the R&B artists he actually likes
I work with Frank and really like what Miguel and Pharrell are doing. I am competitive, ambitious, and I always want to continue to be better and grow. There is room for me to grow artistically and reach more people. There is no shortage of motivation for me to keep pushing. I am not trying to defeat anyone in the business; I am just trying to be the best. It’s like golf. Tiger Woods’ job is not to beat anyone else, it’s for him to be the best that he can be and if he is, he will win. I have already assumed some pressure taking the name John Legend. I have something to live up to. Frank, [producer] Hit-Boy and Kanye all push me to be the best I can be.
On what his family is like
I am a little closer to my father because we lived with him after my parents got divorced. I am close to my mother as well.
We still have issues dealing with that in our family. Both of our parents are still in all of our lives, but it’s still complicated dealing with divorce. Obviously, I am not the only one dealing with that. It was one of the most difficult things to deal with as a kid, and some of the aftereffects I am still dealing with now. It’s something that I have had to work through.

Spurs forward Tim Duncan’s wife Amy Duncan filed for divorce a few months ago. .It has been alleged that Amy have had a few affairs over the course of their marriage.Tim is reported to having an air-tight pre-nup, plus alleged evidence of her infidelity from a private detective which he (Tim) hired to follow Mrs.Duncan.
A shocking new report regarding Tim Duncan’s divorce claimed that his estranged wife, Amy Duncan had concerns that the NBA All-Star was in a relationship with another man.
According to sources, Tim lived with another man four years after attending college at Wake Forest University together. During the first two years of Amy and Tim’s marriage, the unidentified man was living in the same house at the couple before Tim reportedly purchased an apartment for his friend. The report added that Tim is seeking to have a gag order placed on Amy, as the couple’s divorce proceedings move forward.

Lil’ Wayne, T.I., and 2 Chainz performed at the Aaron’s Amphitheate in Lakewood for their “America’s Most Wanted” tour. After the show, Lil’ Wayne and T.I. were spotted partying with Birdman at the afterparty at Prive Louge.

After performing in Atlanta for the “America’s Most Wanted” tour, Lil’ Wayne and T.I. joined up with Birdman to celebrated at Prive Lounge. The event was sponsored by Hennessy V.S and Belvedere.
Wayne and members of his entourage arrived a little before 1 am to a packed and eager crowd of fans. Not too long after Wayne’s arrival, fellow tour mate T.I arrived with his wife Tameka “Tiny” Harris. Once inside, T.I. took the mic and performed a few of his well-known, hit songs for the hype crowd.
The DJ played many songs from Lil’ Wayne & T.I.’s catalogs of hits all night, and ice buckets of Belvedere & Hennessy V.S. could been seen on every VIP table at the lounge. There were a host of celebrities who were in attendance to celebrate with Lil’ Wayne, T.I., and Birdman. Singers Bobby V and Verse Simmons, NBA star Joe Johnson, super producer Hit Boy & rappers Trae the truth and Mack Maine were all spotted at the afterparty.
J. Cole Shoots “Crooked Smile” Video In Brooklyn [Pics]
While watching his new album, Born Sinner, climb to No. 1 on the Billboard 200, J. Cole hit Brooklyn to shoot the video for his latest single, “Crooked Smile,” featuring TLC.
His album spent its first two weeks at No. 2 – first behind an Kanye West‘s Yeezus album, and then behind Wale‘s The Gifted a week ago - but was able to claim the spot of No. 1 album in the country, in its third week on the chart.
Snapshots from the set don’t show an appearance from T Boz and Chilli, but it looks as though children spotted in the pics may play the roles of the artists.

Last month 50 Cent was smack in the middle of a domestic violence dispute with ex-girlfriend Daphne Joy, where he was accused of attacking her. As that drama continues, 50 Cent take a moment to exhale as documents now prove he’s not the father of Daphne’s baby.
TMZ obtained the actual birth certificate of Baby #2 that lists Daphne as the mom, but it doesn’t list a father. That could mean Daphne didn’t know the father was of the baby, or she didn’t want to say. Either way, she didn’t put down Curtis Jackson. But ironically enough, Baby #2′s last name is listed as “Jackson.” Things that make you go hmmm…
50 has never claimed the child as his, but when the domestic drama popped off, the L.A. City Attorney’s Office set off the speculation when they said 50 and Daphne “had a child in common.”
We all know that 50 has one son, Marquise Jackson, with ex-girlfriend Shaniqua Tompkins, and that relationship has taken a turn for the worse after a scheduled custody visit went way wrong.

Actress Angela Bassett & Susan L Taylor Become Members of Delta Sigma Theta
The women of Delta Sigma Theta (a not-for profit Greek-lettered sorority of college-educated women who perform public service and place emphasis on the African American community) took over DC for their Centennial convention.
The week-long celebration including them inducting a few A list celebs. Actress Angela Bassett and Susan L. Taylor (former Editor-In-Chief of Essence magazine) were inducted and are now proud members of the sorority, founded at Howard University. Other famous Deltas include: Nikki Giovanni, Soledad O’Brien, Betty Shabazz, Lena Horne, Shirley Chisolm and Cicely Tyson.

Engineer Amar G. Bose, Inventor Of Bose Speakers, Dies
Amar G. Bose, the founder of the Bose Corporation, and creator of the Bose speakers, died in his Wayland, Mass. home his son Dr. Vanu G. Bose confirmed. He was 88.
The Pennsylvania born-entrepreneur showed early interest in inventing and engineering. During World War II, the then 13 year old started a business fixing model trains and home radios to help support his family. He enrolled at Massachusetts Institute of Technology in the early '50s, and held a position as a teacher's assistant after graduation.
In 2007 Bose landed at No. 241 on Forbes' 400 list of the world's richest men, with a net worth of $1.8 billion. Despite dropping off the billionaire registry in 2009, two years later he was back on with a $1.0 billion net worth. The ups and downs were indicative of his career. “I never went into business to make money,” he siad in an interview. “I went into business so that I could do interesting things that hadn't been done before.”

A perfectionist and a devotee of classical music, Dr. Bose was disappointed by the inferior sound of a high-priced stereo system he purchased when he was an M.I.T. engineering student in the 1950s. His interest in acoustic engineering piqued, he realized that 80 percent of the sound experienced in a concert hall was indirect, meaning that it bounced off walls and ceilings before reaching the audience.
This realization, using basic concepts of physics, formed the basis of his research. In the early 1960s, Dr. Bose invented a new type of stereo speaker based on psychoacoustics, the study of sound perception. His design incorporated multiple small speakers aimed at the surrounding walls, rather than directly at the listener, to reflect the sound and, in essence, recreate the larger sound heard in concert halls. In 1964, at the urging of his mentor and adviser at M.I.T., Dr. Y. W. Lee, he founded his company to pursue long-term research in acoustics. The Bose Corporation initially pursued military contracts, but Dr. Bose's vision was to produce a new generation of stereo speakers.
Though his first speakers fell short of expectations, Dr. Bose kept at it. In 1968, he introduced the Bose 901 Direct/Reflecting speaker system, which became a best seller for more than 25 years and firmly entrenched Bose, based in Framingham, Mass., as a leader in a highly competitive audio components marketplace. Unlike conventional loudspeakers, which radiated sound only forward, the 901s used a blend of direct and reflected sound.
Later inventions included the popular Bose Wave radio and the Bose noise-canceling headphones, which were so effective they were adopted by the military and commercial pilots.
A Bose software program enabled acoustic engineers to simulate the sound from any seat in a large hall, even before the site was built. The system was used to create sound systems for such diverse spaces as Staples Center in Los Angeles, the Sistine Chapel and the Masjid al-Haram, the grand mosque in Mecca.
In 1982, some of the world's top automakers, including Mercedes and Porsche, began to install Bose audio systems in their vehicles, and the brand remains a favorite in that market segment.
M.I.T. honored Bose as No. 9 on the "MIT150," a list of top innovators from the university.

Cedars-Sinai Hospital Fires 6 Employees After Kim Kardashian Giving Birth!
A report in the LA Times said that six people were fired for privacy breaches involving the medical records of 14 patients from June 18-24. Kim Kardashian delivered her daughter on June 15 and checked out about a week later.
The family suspected that information was leaking from the hospital after various media reports surfaced with certain information about the birth of her daughter North that she hadn’t told anyone.
The records were inappropriately accessed between June 18 and June 24. Kardashian gave birth June 15.
Representatives for Kardashian and the baby’s father, Kanye West, did not provide comment to the Times.
Four of those fired were employees of community physicians who have staff privileges at the hospital, one was a hospital medical assistant and one was an unpaid student research assistant.
Violations can lead to fines or criminal charges.
