TEAS PLEASE? Is Drake about to FLEE YOUNG MONEY?
Despite many a hit driven effort, very few Rap collectives can say they enjoyed a run as a fruit as Young Money‘s.
Being in the unique position of seeing all its acts (save for Shanell) reach household name status, the crew now find themselves monopolising Hip Hop and outperforming their Pop counterparts, (see Lil Wayne, Nicki Minaj and Drake).
Alas, the latest chapter to this success story has seen fans read between the lines to find that the once united group may be bidding adieu to the aforementioned Drake, upon the veiling of these court documents.
More recently, it’s the performer’s absence from the crew’s forthcoming album that’s sparked fresh talk of his departure…forcing Minaj to bare all on the supposed beef.
Her words below…
After opting to take his ‘OVO’ brand to Atlantic and not Universal where Young Money is housed, this week saw Drake’s recent moves addressed by Nicki in an interview with Hot 97′s ‘Funkmaster Flex’.
She revealed:
“I just feel like people’s perception of their reality is their perception of their reality. Sometimes people make moves based on their perception of what reality is and I know that sounds like a riddle, but maybe one day you’ll be able to unravel that one.”
“All I can say is he’s so talented. Sometimes when you’re really intelligent and you’re really talented, you also think a lot and sometimes your mind is racing with thoughts. It is what it is. People go through their own emotions and you gotta respect it and keep it moving. We all love the team.”.
“All I can say is this, Lil Wayne is everything to me. I can’t speak for anyone else.What Young Money and Cash Money did for Nicki Minaj I could never repay them for so I am forever indebted to them.”
“We all love Wayne
Drake is my baby ’cause that’s how we were when we came in so whenever I think of him I’ll be like, ‘Oh, that’s my baby.’ Whatever is going on now, obviously we’re all very busy, and you know, shit happens.”
“It gets a little hard to have a real connection when people are on different sides of the world and working on different things. You never know who people got in their ear or what they feeling. Maybe they felt wronged in some way. I don’t know, but I just know that Drake is my baby and Wayne
Then, in addressing the alleged subliminal remarks he’s thrown their way, she explained:
“I’ve never taken that personal. When you are in a place where Drake is, which is everybody is asking him for a hook or a feature, it is what it is. He’s speaking the truth. Whether he’s taking that as a compliment or not, I don’t know. He’s speaking the truth and I think he’s speaking about every damn body. I’m not exempt from that and neither is anyone else. If you’ve been asking him for a verse or a song or done a verse or a song with him, then maybe you are included. I don’t know, but he’s not lying.”
