#MAGFAB: Michelle Yeoh 楊紫瓊 for W Magazine China’s ‘The Great Performance’ Issue
WICKED star Michelle Yeoh covers the W Magazine China’s ‘The Great Performance’ issue photographed by Szilveszter Makó and styled by Zipeng Li.Michelle Yeoh, the first Asian woman to win an Oscar for Best Actress—this award not only recognizes her success in acting but also breaks through all those “established conventions.” This achievement holds significant, cross-generational meaning. Perhaps it can all be traced back to her choices and courage: even when she reaches a high point that others admire, she continues to adhere to her fundamental standards and faces fresh challenges head-on. It may sound like a universal standard goal, grand and lofty enough to seem distant; yet Michelle Yeoh makes it a prominent part of every choice she makes, turning the answer into “yes” and “can.”
“Sometimes people will think for an actress, for an actor, maybe academic award will be the ultimate goal. But i never think I on the peak yet. I’m ready, I’m still climbing because I think always there’s a new challenge. The most important thing is I love what I do, and I do what I suppose to do, that’s it.”
#RHOA: ‘Real Housewives’ Stars Crystal Kung Minkoff & Cynthia Bailey Set To Co-Host ‘Humble Brag’ Podcast For Envy Media
Via Deadline: The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills’s Crystal Kung Minkoff and The Real Housewives of Atlanta‘s Cynthia Bailey are set to co-host the podcast Humble Brag with Crystal and Cynthia starting Monday, October 21.
The new podcast is the latest show from Envy Media, the company that The Bachelor alum Nick Viall started in January 2024 following the success of The Viall Files.
“I’m thrilled to partner with Envy Media for our new podcast. Nick is one of the scrappiest, hardest-working people I’ve met, and his relentless drive for success mirrors my own,” Kung Minkoff said. “From the start, Nick made it clear that he understood Cynthia and I for who we are, and he’s passionate about building something authentic around our voices—without trying to fit us into a predefined mold or concept. That’s the kind of collaboration and partnership that truly excites us.”
Humble Brag with Crystal and Cynthia will take a deep dive into the world of reality TV, pop culture, and the celebrity sphere. Kung Minkoff and Bailey will share their perspective on the week’s hottest topics and give behind-the-scenes insight into reality TV. The duo will also have guests discussing topics from entertainment and lifestyle to health, wellness, parenting, and beyond.
“This has been one of the most memorable years in reality TV history, so it only feels fitting to finish the year by welcoming two of the most beloved television personalities into the Envy family,” Viall shared. “I’m so excited to share Humble Brag with the world and let Envy’s listeners get to experience first-hand how incredibly entertaining and thoughtful Crystal and Cynthia are.”
Envy Media also produces Disrespectfully, a podcast hosted by Vanderpump Rules’ Katie Maloney and Dayna Kathan that launched in January 2024. The addition of Humble Brag will mark the fifth show on Envy Media’s slate.
Earlier this year, Kung Minkoff exited The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills after three seasons on the Bravo reality series. Bailey left The Real Housewives of Atlanta in 2021 after 11 seasons on the show but has made guest appearances on the Bravo series since then — including a more prominent role on the show’s upcoming Season 16.
Viall is represented by Settebello Entertainment, United Talent Agency, TMP Artists, Goodman Genow Schenkman Smelkinson & Christopher. Kung Minkoff is represented by Management 360, UTA, and Cheryl Snow & Reggie J. Glosson of Gang, Tyre, Ramer, Brown & Passman, Inc. Bailey is represented by Artist Collective Entertainment & CGEM Talent.
#MusicNews: Mario Announces First Album in 6 Years With ‘Glad You Came’
After delivering an appetizer of a single with his record “Space,” Mario is ready to unveil the entree with his forthcoming album Glad You Came. Releasing Dec. 13 via New Citizen/Epic Records, Mario enlisted songwriter extraordinaire James Fauntleroy as the project’s executive producer.
“My successes and failures in the department of love and my imagination are what helped me to create this body of work,” Mario exclusively tells Billboard. “I had the pleasure of creating alongside James Fauntleroy, who executive-produced this project and wrote multiple songs with me. We have the same mission in our hearts of helping to preserve the art form.”
“Being able to create new textures and ways to invite intimacy and imagination back into R&B, Glad You Came embodies the very essence of the quality of classic R&B and retro-futuristic sound that can be played in any space,” he continues. “There’s a level of vulnerability and confidence that permeates this serving.”
Glad You Came will be Mario’s first album in six years and his first with Epic Records. The singer recently performed at Nicki Minaj’s Pink Friday tour stop in Los Angeles, where he rattled off his R&B classic “Let Me Love You.” Shortly after, he served as a surprise guest in Toronto at Nostalgia for Drake, where he performed a medley of hits. Next year, he’ll join Mary J. Blige’s The For My Fans Tour alongside Ne-Yo. The tour will begin in January.
#HipHopNews:Tyler, The Creator Expands Chromakopia Tour With Over A Dozen New Dates
Tyler, The Creator has expanded his forthcoming tour in support of his Chromakopia album, adding an additional 13 dates due to high demand.
In an Instagram post on Tuesday night (October 29), the Odd Future founder announced he’s added three more nights to his hometown of Los Angeles – making for a total of six. He also added a second date in the cities of Seattle, San Diego, Austin, Paris, Chicago, Philly, Boston, NYC and Toronto. And for the Australian leg, he added a third night to both Melbourne and Sydney, as well as a second night in Brisbane.
Pre-sale for the North American leg is available now here, while Paris begins at 10am local time on Thursday (October 31) and 10am local time on Friday (November 1) for Australia.
Lil Yachty and Paris Texas serve as supporting acts. Meanwhile, Chromakopia is poised to make a big splash on next week’s Billboard 200 chart.
Despite it having a shorter tracking window due to it being released on Monday instead of the previous Friday, the album is expected to cruise to number one with the biggest first-week sales of Tyler, The Creator’s career.
According to HITS Daily Double, Chromakopia is on track to earn least 250,000 equivalent units in its opening week, with it being estimated that the number could go as high as 300,000 before final numbers are tallied.
As it stands, Tyler would top the Billboard 200 by a large margin ahead of Halsey’s new album The Great Impersonator, which is projected to move around 90,000 units.
If Chromakopia debuts at number one, it would be the first time in 2024 that one rap album has replaced another at the top of the chart, with Yeat‘s Lifestyle the incumbent chart-topper.
Chromakopia will also become just the sixth Hip Hop album this year to top the Billboard 200 and boast one of the highest first-week sales of any rap album in 2024.
Rihanna Wears Matching Onesies With Riot And RZA In Savage X Fenty's Latest Holiday Campaign
Rihanna is enjoying every ounce of motherhood. On Wednesday (Oct. 30), the “Diamonds” singer shared photos of herself, RZA and Riot wearing matching onesies ahead of the holidays.
The images showed the trio lounging on leopard-print pillows and sheets while wearing the paisley PJs, courtesy of Savage X Fenty, of course. The hooded piece included a kangaroo pocket and front zipper. Per the brand’s website, sizes for toddlers will range from 0M to 5T.
“Yea, I know! We are officially one of those families that match for the holidays,” Rihanna captioned the post alongside a facepalming emoji.
“They’re so cute! It’s giving triplets! I need this onesie with a matching robe,” Grammy-nominated singer-songwriter Asiahn shared in the comments section. Presumably referring to RZA, Erykah Badu added, “Lookin’ like his daddy.”
“One baby is [ASAP] Rocky’s face, and the other is you [and] your dad’s face!” another person commented. The Harlem rapper previously joked that their firstborn has “his mom’s forehead, but he got everything else from me” in a sit-down with W Magazine.
“I think RZA is going to keep to himself. He’s an introvert,” he revealed to the publication. “Riot’s an extrovert — he’s just like his mom. RZA is more so like his dad, like me. And he’s my twin… I love my boy’s big forehead! I loved it on his mother.”
The pair welcomed RZA in 2022, then Riot the following year. Before his youngest child’s birth, ASAP Rocky teased his name with "RIOT (Rowdy Pipe'n)," which is expected to appear on his forthcoming album, Don’t Be Dumb.
In July, ASAP Rocky and RZA starred in Savage X Fenty’s Classics campaign, where the two wore matching tank tops and boxer briefs in front of an orange backdrop. The lingerie brand has been on quite the run this year, having teamed up with Diesel for a capsule collection earlier in the month.
Tyla, Halle Bailey And Coi Leray Dress As Iconic Halle Berry Movie Characters For Halloween
Halle Berry is getting plenty of love leading up to Halloween (Oct. 31). Tyla, Halle Bailey and Coi Leray all paid tribute to the Emmy Award-winning actress’ iconic film roles in their costume reveals on Wednesday (Oct. 30).
Tyla dressed as The Flintstones character Sharon Stone, whom Berry played in the franchise's 1994 live-action film. The “Water” hitmaker wore a tiger-print skirt set — a fitting decision, considering she calls her fanbase the Tygers. “Well, I’ve been a very bad girl, but you have to admit… I was very, very good at it,” she wrote in a nod to one of the Cleveland native’s lines from the movie.
Bailey, on the other hand, recreated Giacinta "Jinx" Johnson from 2002’s Die Another Day. Her costume consisted of an orange bikini and a white “J” belt with a knife holstered in it. Berry, who portrayed the NSA agent during the aforementioned James Bond series installment, reacted via her Instagram Story: “You did that. Love you, angel.”
For Leray’s outfit, she chose to transform into Catwoman. While numerous actresses have played the DC Comics character throughout the decade, none have come remotely close to the impact of Berry’s take in the 2004 movie. “Killed it!” the mother of two penned on social media.
Bailey previously spoke about the similarities between her and the legendary actress’ names on "LIVE with Kelly and Mark." Per REVOLT, she explained, "Well, my family, we've always loved Halle Berry. I mean, she's amazing.”
"Originally, when I was a baby, they wanted to name me Hailey, but my last name is Bailey. So that wouldn't have worked," the “Angel” artist continued. “They ultimately decided [on] Halle, and it's very similar to Halle Berry, but there's no one else I would rather have a similar name than her ‘cause she's so cool.”
The two also attended the LA Galaxy versus Inter Miami opener in February, where they took photos together for the first time.

Blair Underwood Says Missed ‘Dreamgirls’ Role Is “The One That Got Away”
Blair Underwood almost landed a starring role in Dreamgirls. During the Emmy winner’s recent appearance on The Jennifer Hudson Show, he confessed that missing out on Dreamgirls was the role “that got away.” Underwood first expressed how “it’s not right” that he’s just meeting Hudson for the first time. “I’ve been a fan of yours for so long,” he gushed.
However, it’s not right because he was being considered as her costar in the 2006 film, which gave her an Oscar win. “Let me tell you something—for me, that was the role that got away. Jamie Foxx’s character, the one she was in love with. I wanted so badly to do that movie,” said the 60-year-old.
He explained how Dreamgirls‘ director Bill Condon came to see him in the Broadway production of Purlie! Anika Noni Rose also starred in the stage play at the time and she wound up landing a role in the film as Lorrell Robinson.
However, Underwood nearly snagged Foxx’s role, Curtis Taylor Jr., due to a conflict the singer had with his record label. “There was a conflict with the soundtrack. So for a week, [Condon] said if it doesn’t happen, the role is yours,” the Set It Off heartthrob added.
Gleefully, he reflected, “Ah, I’m gonna be in Dreamgirls with Jennifer Hudson.” The latter said it would’ve been an honor to work with him, but “Jamie is Jamie.” Funny enough, Underwood quipped, “I can’t sing, though. That’s the thing. I can carry a tune, but I can’t sing like Jamie.”

In a New Interview Kalenna Harper Accuses Cassie Of Using Drugs, Calls Dawn Richard A “Weird Bi**h”
Kalenna Harper is best known as one third of Bad Boy group Diddy-Dirty Money, alongside Sean “Diddy” Combs and former Danity Kane member, Dawn Richard. In a new interview, the singer speaks on her relationship both Diddy and Dawn, as well as Cassie, whom she says “liked getting high” during her tenure on the label.
During the chat with Breakbeat Media, uploaded to YouTube Wednesday (Oct. 30), Harper shares that she always admired Diddy, saying he’s someone she’s “always wanted to be like,” while calling Cassie — who sued Diddy for sexual abuse and was seen being assaulted by the mogul on camera — a naive woman who used drugs and had no problem handing out lap dances at parties.
“Love her to death. Naive. Liked getting high. She likes partying,” Harper described of the “Long Way 2 Go” singer. “I saw Cassie grow up from a little girl that was willing to, like, give everybody motherf**king, you know, lap dances, basically. You know, get drunk and just have a good, like, model time.”
When it comes to Dawn, Kalenna didn’t hold back, calling her former group mate a “weird bi**h.”
“I don’t f**k with Dawn like that,” Harper revealed, adding that she never witnessed the questionable behavior from Diddy that Richard described in her own lawsuit against him. “And I’m going to f**king stand on business, I didn’t see any of that. What I saw was, ‘what the f**k is going on with you, because you’re acting weird, you’re a weird bi**h,’ is what I see. And it’s a list of ni**as, where y’all at, talk about it. Dawn’s a weird motherf**ker, man!”
This isn’t the first time Harper has spoken up in defense of Diddy as the locked-up businessman faces several accusations of assault, sexual abuse and more. The singer also denied the claims raised in Richard’s lawsuit back in September, sharing on Instagram, “I, acknowledge the recent lawsuit filed by Dawn Richard in which my name has been mentioned 33 times. While I fully respect Dawn’s right to recount her experiences, l want to emphasize that her account reflects her personal perspective and should not be interpreted as a universal truth applicable to everyone involved.”
Diddy also defending himself following the suit, calling out Richard for seeking a “pay day.”
“Mr. Combs is shocked and disappointed by this lawsuit,” the statement from Puff’s attorney read. “In an attempt to rewrite history, Dawn Richard has now manufactured a series of false claims all in the hopes of trying to get a pay day — conveniently timed to coincide with her album release and press tour.”

Montel Williams Shuts Down Rumors of Alleged Kamala Harris “Tape”
Just over a week before the upcoming election, a baseless rumor about Vice President Kamala Harris and former talk show host Montel Williams began circulating on social media, with the potential to stir up controversy. Right-wing influencer Matt Wallace took to Twitter, claiming that a supposed “sex tape” involving Harris and Williams was being “shopped around” and could “break the internet.” Wallace suggested that the alleged tape could harm Harris’s campaign just days before the election.
The tweet quickly gained traction, attracting millions of views and sparking debate online. But Montel Williams wasted no time in responding to the rumors, delivering a calm yet pointed response that quickly set the record straight. “Wow, I hear a blogger I’ve never heard of got millions of views claiming someone is ‘shopping’ a sex tape of me that will ‘break the internet,’” Williams tweeted. He went on to state plainly, “Let’s ‘break the internet’ w/ truth – there is no tape. Kamala Harris’s surge clearly has some people worried.”
Williams’s response not only dismissed the rumor but also suggested that Harris’ rising momentum in the polls may be causing concern among some critics. Harris and Williams were once romantically linked in the early 2000s, but there’s no evidence of any video as Wallace claimed.

Megan Thee Stallion files lawsuit against blogger
Megan Thee Stallion is the latest cultural icon to file a lawsuit against a blogger for allegedly disseminating false and injurious information about them
The 29-year-old San Antonio-born rapper, whose real name is Megan Jovon Ruth Pete, filed the legal documents that were obtained by Billboard where Megan accuses YouTuber Milagro Gramz of being a “mouthpiece and puppet” for Megan’s ex-boyfriend Tony Lanez. The Canadian producer is serving up to 10 years in prison for, among other transgressions, firing the shots that injured Megan’s feet in the summer of 2020.
Megan Thee Stallion believes Tory Lanez is behind blogger’s inflammatory posts
Megan accuses the imprisoned rapper of using Gramz to unleash a campaign designed to “denigrate, belittle, insult, and spread false statements” to hurt Megan Thee Stallion. Specifically, Gramz posted a story that falsely claimed that an appeals court had declared Lanez “innocent” and repeatedly questioned whether Megan was even shot. The last straw came when Grams said Megan was “caught trying to deceive the courts,” and promoted the “outlandish claim” that the gun used in the 2020 shooting in Los Angeles had disappeared.
The vlogger, whose legal name is Milagro Elizabeth Cooper, is also being sued for cyberstalking, intentional infliction of emotional distress, and invasion of privacy.
“Enough is enough,” the lawsuit reads, according to the music-based publication. “Ms. Pete—a victim of violent crime and champion of women’s rights to her millions of fans worldwide—will no longer stand for [the] defendant’s campaign of harassment.”
Gramz responded. On X, she wrote that she’s “been informed that I’m being sued by Alex Spiro on behalf of his client Megan Thee Stallion.”
“Of course we’ll chat about it. They threw in the tape too,” Gramz added.
Through her attorneys, Megan said, “Defendant Cooper’s statements recklessly disregarded the truth and suggested that the firearm was never presented in court because it had allegedly disappeared. It has not … ”
Megan’s lawyers wrote. “The firearm remains in the custody of the Los Angeles Police Department.”
Megan is reportedly making an example of the blogger, stating that it is “time to hold bloggers accountable” who deliberately or recklessly promulgate erroneous and libelous information.
“I’ve endured countless attacks on my character based on false narratives from social media bloggers misrepresenting themselves as journalists,” she said in the statement. “It’s unacceptable behavior and these individuals need to understand there will be repercussions for recklessly posting lies and defamatory falsehoods.”

Dwyane Wade has definitely got at least 10 things he loves about wife Gabrielle Union. The former NBA player not only had a sweet message for the "Bring It On" star's 52nd birthday on Oct. 29, but he also gave fans a peek into the not-so-entirely safe for work passion the couple share.
"Mrs. Wade," Dwyane wrote on his Instagram Stories alongside a photo of him and Gabrielle cuddling up together, with her wearing a sparkly black dress, "Happy Birthday!" The former Miami Heat player—who recently celebrated 10 years of marriage with Gabrielle—added a smaller message in the corner of the photo, writing, "That dress didn't last much long after this." Gabrielle agreed, sharing the photo to her own Instagram and adding, "That dress didn't stand a chance" along with several laughing crying emojis.
But Dwyane's birthday message wasn't just in Stories, as he also posted a montage of the two to his Instagram, set to a voice-over of the 42-year-old professing his love for Gabrielle. And of course, the "10 Things I Hate About You" alum was overwhelmed by the tribute.

Nicky Jam Renounces Donald Trump Endorsement Over Puerto Rico Slur
Puerto Rican reggaeton singer Nicky Jam has retracted his endorsement of Donald Trump for the 2024 presidential election. The move comes after a month-long association between the two sparked controversy.
The catalyst for Jam's reversal was a joke made by comedian Tony Hinchcliffe at a Trump rally in New York. Hinchcliffe referred to Puerto Rico as "garbage," offending Jam and many Puerto Rican celebrities.
In a video statement posted on Instagram, Jam explained his initial support for Trump stemmed from his belief that a businessman would be best for the U.S. economy, where many Latinos live. However, after Hinchcliffe's "disrespectful" comments, Jam said he felt compelled to renounce his support.
"Puerto Rico deserves respect," Jam said. "I'm stepping away from any political situation."
Jam's decision follows a wave of outrage among Puerto Rican celebrities over Hinchcliffe's remarks. Grammy Award winner Bad Bunny endorsed Vice President Kamala Harris shortly after, while actress Aubrey Plaza condemned the joke at a recent award ceremony.
Jam's previous appearance at a Trump rally drew attention after Trump introduced him as a "hot" woman. The Mexican pop-rock band Mana has since removed its 2016 collaboration with Jam from online platforms in solidarity with Puerto Rico.
Despite being U.S. citizens, Puerto Ricans cannot vote in general elections. However, their influence on mainland relatives remains potent. Bad Bunny's support for Harris is seen as a way of harnessing this power.
Jam's withdrawal from Trump's camp highlights the divide between the former president and the Puerto Rican community, particularly over issues of respect and cultural sensitivity.
Keke Palmer Breaks Her Silence on ‘Unhealthy’ Relationship with Ex Darius Jackson: ‘Hardest Thing I Ever Had to Go Through’
Keke Palmer is getting real about her tumultuous relationship with ex Darius Jackson, saying she had to turn to the courts in a desperate attempt to bring back order when things spiraled out of control.
Last year, a few months after the Nope star welcomed son Leo, with then-boyfriend Darius Jackson, 30, their seemingly happy relationship imploded after Jackson’s social media post criticizing a dress she wore to an Usher concert kicked off a viral firestorm. Then came allegations of domestic violence and a custody battle.
In all, “It was the hardest thing I ever had to go through,” she writes in her book. Now, after settling their disputes and reaching a good place with her ex, she’s finally ready to reflect.
Thinking back to when the relationship first started out, “It was like, not only is this the person, but this is the time. It felt very spiritual for Darius and I,” she says. “We had separate lonelinesses, and we created a space for us to exist in that loneliness together. And then we wanted to have a son. Leo was very planned.”
The pair appeared every bit the happy couple throughout her pregnancy and just after Leo was born in February 2023. But behind the scenes, “There was a lot going on,” she says, even before Jackson took to social media with a gripe that July.
“It’s the outfit tho . . . you a mom,” he wrote in response to a video showing Palmer wearing a sheer dress as she danced with Usher at his concert. Fans immediately came to her defense online, but Palmer writes that the relationship had already grown “unhappy and unhealthy.”
It had also become violent. In her request for a temporary restraining order granted by a court that November, she detailed multiple allegations of domestic violence, including when she says Jackson broke into her home and attempted to strangle her, an incident caught on video. He responded in court with his own accusations and alleged evidence that she abused him as they clashed over custody of Leo.
“It got so out of control,” she says. “The only way I knew how to bring order was through the court.” As for what initially went wrong between them, “having a baby was a big stressor,” she says, as was fame: “Not just with my romantic relationships, but with family and friends, it’s always become a burden. Too many voices get in. It can make everybody else not trust you. It’s hard to explain.”
Six months later, after court-ordered mediation, Palmer and Jackson settled amicably on a joint custody agreement. Looking back on the relationship, she writes, “I wish I could say he was terrible the entire time or that I was … but it wasn’t that black-and-white and that was the problem.” She continues, “I didn’t want my son to think his father is a monster, because I don’t.”
Her advice to anyone dealing with a similar situation: “Walking away is the only way.”
These days she’s found forgiveness and peace. In fact, “I’m so proud of him and happy for him,” she says of Jackson, who recently entered the military. “I feel very at ease now knowing things are under control.”
Master of Me: The Secret to Controlling Your Narrative by Keke Palmer comes out Nov. 19 and is available for preorder now, wherever books are sold.

Beyoncé fans organize national 'Beyhive for Kamala' call ahead of presidential election
Beyoncé fans are rallying behind Vice President Kamala Harris in the final days before the election and on the heels of an endorsement from the Grammy Award-winning singer.
Fans across the country joined together Tuesday evening for a national call, "Beyhive for Kamala," hours before presidential nominee Harris spoke at a rally in the nation's capital and one week before the next U.S. president is elected.
"Our love for (Beyoncé) brought us together and allows us to support each other through every struggle," said 28-year-old Earline Johnson who joined the call from Atlanta.
In hopes of getting fans "in formation" to vote for Harris on Election Day, the national call was organized by Kimberly C. Ellis, who goes by Dr. Goddess; Lakesha Cole, creator of the Beyhive for Kamala coalition; and Courtney Savoy Harper, creator of Clubhouse Beyhive, which is a room made within the popular audio app.
During the live stream, Ellis added that she looked forward to "voting out 45," in reference to Beyoncé's lyric from her 2022 song "Energy," where she sang about voting out the 45th president (aka Donald Trump).
"We've hosted many rooms on social issues important to Bey and our community. Her music continues to inspire us to fight for the change we want. Beyoncé always gives me the energy to fight for my rights," since her Destiny's Child era, said Johnson.
Rashad Trent, 28, who streamed from Charlotte, North Carolina, echoed those sentiments.
"This call is so important to me because I believe it's one of the first times I feel compelled to make a change," he said. "A lot of basic and essential human rights are at stake and with so many youth at arm's reach, (and) it's our job to create that village and spread the word."
On the call, speakers took the virtual stage including LGBTQ+ rights and culture activist Anthony Washington, reproductive health advocate Dr. Keisha Davis-King, LaTosha Brown of Black Voters Matter and founder of Win with Black Women Jotaka Eaddy.
Confirmed speakers who weren't able to attend the call included Rep. Jasmine Crockett, D-Texas, and Rep. Summer Lee, D-Pa.
Beyoncé recently endorsed and joined Harris at a rally in the singer's hometown of Houston where she declared onstage, "I'm not here as a celebrity … but as a mother."
Months prior, Beyoncé and her family showed their support for the presidential nominee in other ways, including clearing the usage of her 2016 song "Freedom" as Harris' campaign song.
"The moment Beyoncé allowed VP Harris to use her song 'Freedom' as her campaign song and theme, was all the endorsement the Beyhive needed. This national call has been in planning since then, it was just even more fitting to have the call after Beyoncé attended the rally in Houston," 33-year-old Niguel Anthony, who is based in Atlanta, told USA TODAY after attending the national call.
And many Beyhive members felt inspired by the singer even outside this election cycle.
"Beyoncé’s music and the powerful themes in her lyrics act as a bridge, connecting us through shared stories of resilience, pride, and activism. By analyzing her lyrics and following her own journey in social justice, we find ourselves equipped to have dialogues that challenge, educate, and inspire," says Mary Samoa, 40, who attended the call from California.

Regina Hall Set To Produce A ‘Girls Trip’-Inspired Competition Show
Regina Hall is taking her talents to unscripted television. Hall and her production company, Rh Negative, scored a first-look deal with MGM Alternative — the unscripted division of Amazon MGM Studios — to develop and produce shows across a range of unscripted genres, including game shows, true crime, and docuseries’, per The Hollywood Reporter.
The first project is Squad Games, a competition show “loosely inspired” by the 2017 film Girls Trip that centers around “celebrities and their real-life BFFs on an exotic getaway where they compete in wild challenges.”
“I’m so excited for this new partnership with MGM,” Hall shared in a statement. “I’m positive that the relationship between Rh Negative and their team will be an incredibly supportive and productive one and I’m thrilled about what we have in the works.”
Barry Poznick, general manager of MGM Alternative, added, “Ever since we saw Regina Hall co-hosting the Academy Awards two years ago, we knew she had something special that would resonate with reality fans. Her humor, honesty, creativity and style of storytelling make her a perfect partner as we continue to expand MGM Alternative’s slate of premium unscripted programming.”
The announcement comes the day after Marlon Wayans revealed that he and his brothers, Shawn and Keenen Ivory, are returning to the Scary Movie franchise.
Paramount Pictures first confirmed the reboot this past April. Two months later, Anna Faris said she’d only consider reprising her role if Hall did the same.
Faris starred as Cindy Campbell in four installments of the infamous satirical parody with Hall as her best friend, Brenda.

Jaywalking Officially Legalized in NYC
New York City has officially legalized jaywalking, allowing pedestrians to cross streets without fear of being ticketed by police.
The City Council passed the bill back in February, and after Mayor Eric Adams failed to take action within the 30-day window, the legislation automatically became law as of late October.
The bill, sponsored by Brooklyn Council Member Mercedes Narcisse, aims to end racial disparities in jaywalking enforcement, a concern that has been building for years. Narcisse highlighted that over 90% of jaywalking tickets last year were issued to Black and Latino New Yorkers, emphasizing that laws penalizing common behaviors often unfairly impact communities of color. “Let’s be real, every New Yorker jaywalks. People are simply trying to get where they need to go,” she said in a statement.
For decades, NYPD has faced criticism for disproportionately issuing jaywalking tickets to minority communities. Streetsblog NYC reported that out of 467 jaywalking tickets given last year, 92% went to Black or Latino pedestrians.
The Legal Aid Society applauded the decision, stating that decriminalizing jaywalking removes a longstanding practice used as “a pretext to stop, question, and frisk New Yorkers, especially those from communities of color.” The organization hopes this will inspire further legislative efforts to eliminate laws that, it argues, only serve to entangle people in the criminal justice system without enhancing public safety.

Minneapolis Police Arrest Man in Neighbor’s Shooting, Admits “We Failed This Victim” After Months of Threats Reported
Almost a week after a Minneapolis man allegedly shot his neighbor, Davis Moturi, in the neck, the alleged shooter, John Sawchak, is in custody. This arrest follows a lengthy period of reported racial harassment and threats against Moturi, according to local reports and court documents. Minneapolis Police Chief Brian O’Hara admitted police failed to act quickly on nearly 20 complaints made by Moturi before the incident.
“We failed this victim 100%,” O’Hara stated. Video footage from a neighbor’s security camera reportedly shows Moturi, who was outside trimming a tree, suddenly collapsing to the ground. The shooting left Moturi hospitalized with serious injuries, including a fractured spine, two broken ribs, and a concussion.
Sawchak was arrested early Monday morning following an hourslong standoff with police. He now faces multiple charges, including attempted murder, felony assault, and stalking, per the Hennepin County Attorney’s Office. Sawchak’s lawyer stated he denies the allegations.
Court records show Sawchak has a documented history of harassment and had three outstanding warrants, including one for threats against Moturi. Moturi had made multiple 911 calls since last year reporting racially charged threats and behavior, yet Sawchak evaded arrest by refusing to answer his door. Chief O’Hara noted that police were cautious due to Sawchak’s past mental health issues, history of violence, and potential access to firearms.
Sawchak’s arraignment was held Tuesday, where bail was set at $1 million or $600,000 with supervised conditions. Sawchak remains in custody, with his next court date scheduled for November.
