#MAGFAB: Latto for Ebony Magazine Digital: Basking Fully In Her Coldest Season Ever
Latto is curating her own era on her own terms and cashing in on her years of hustle—the payoff is something that superstars are made of.
As the finishing touches on her honey-hued baby hairs are swooped and sprayed in place, Latto snaps into focus. On set of her EBONY December 2024 cover shoot, the unmistakable whistle of Ciara’s early aughts classic, “Goodies” floats through the studio speaker, allowing the (soon to be) 26-year-old rap star to warm up to the lens. She contorts her shape and conjures her own version of opulent, rap-pop supremacy.
Twenty-four hours later, she’ll be obliging the smartphone cameras of thousands of fans at her LA tour stop. But for right now, Latto deftly switches up poses with precision – a sashay of a fur coat here, a flirty ponytail flip there, a crouch, a perch, a prowl – and pulls out a mini camcorder to capture her own image in the vintage tartan Vivienne Westwood ensemble, finding her best angles in the rear display. She gains more confidence with each shutter click. She’s at home under the lights.
Sugar Honey Iced Tea, the rapper’s third studio album, is all about a return home. It’s a project that catapults turn-of-the-century sounds of the Dirty South into the path of Latto’s Gen Z, bad b*tch revelry. More importantly, it captures a pivotal time for the artist, one she calls a rebirth. “Don’t they be saying, like, your frontal lobe is fully developed or something like that?,” she laughs, zeroing in on the mental shift she’s experienced from her early 20s until now. “It was a short timeframe, but it was like I had been through so much in that short timeframe, so I had so much to talk about.”

Along the way, she’s given us plenty to talk about, too. As a 2024 EBONY Power 100 honoree in the Generation Next category, Latto represents a group of young Black innovators redefining success in their own image. Coming off the megawatt success of “Big Energy” in 2021 and collabs with the likes of USHER, Jennifer Lopez and K-pop sensation Jungkook, Latto could have easily stayed on the highly-lucrative mainstream pop train.
Instead, she felt the urge to tap back into the syrupy, Southern charm of trap, the same undeniable knock of her 2019 breakthrough, “Bitch from da Souf.” Her tester was “Put It on da Floor,” produced by Pooh Beatz and Go Grizzly. The track, which would become the first single off Sugar Honey Iced Tea, earned instant acclaim. It empowered us to rip ourselves outta plastic and act brand new, inspired Cardi B to hop on the remix and officially supercharged the battery in Latto’s back.
For Sugar Honey Iced Tea, Latto gained the gumption to ask her label to fall back. She locked in with the same group of producers, Pooh Beatz, Go Grizzly, and engineer Ben Hogarth, which allowed her to lean into her instincts. Together, they caramelized her passions to add her own original recipe to the Southern rap canon.
The result is an idiosyncratic ode to her city and her most comprehensive project to date; An album she herself dubs a classic on the triumphant intro track, “Georgia Peach. “I just felt the cohesion and I just knew that it was gonna translate,” she says.
This cohesion comes together best on “Big Mama,” a standout of the album and the name of an alter ego the rapper’s having fun channeling. The nickname, usually reserved for a head-of-household matriarch, lays claim to Latto’s newfound sense of self: “Everybody respect Big Mama. You don’t play with Big Mama because she’s gonna put belt to ass. That’s the energy.”
Showcasing her nimble ability to blend genres, “Big Mama” was a creative swing for Latto. The song’s switch-up – shifting gears from a pampered, heart-eyed romp to kinetic, braggadocious bars – bridges the magic of her versatility. “Big Mama” is nominated for Best Melodic Rap Performance heading into the 2025 GRAMMYs and for Latto, this recognition hits different when she considers how many doubted her at the time of the record’s initial release.
“I think ‘Big Mama’ has just allowed me to just redeem myself, build up my confidence to an all-time high, and just have built this wall between me and outside commentary to where it’s nothing you can say that will make me feel less than myself,” she proclaims. “This is my chance to redeem myself as in, to myself.”
The MC rides this self-assuredness of Sugar Honey Iced Tea through by making her references seen and heard. She plays the 2024 version of ATL’s New New for the album’s trailer. For her tour’s staging, A-Town institution Magic City becomes Latto City, complete with the stripper poles. Her signature style has evolved to exude a dark and moody luxuriating 1970s mama – “Heavy on the animal print, especially cheetah!” – with a layer of candy-coated, Y2K gloss.
She’s made a decision to rock her natural hair color instead of her previous bright wigs and to bask in everything that makes her unique (Let’s not forget, she is the first solo female rapper from The A to go platinum.) Audibly and visually, Sugar Honey Iced Tea era reflects a Southern woman becoming her own boss after years of being directed by others.
“I feel like my whole career has been that – growing pains – and people telling me what I should and shouldn’t do,” she says. “So many times, I would let them get in my head, like, ‘This not popping off fast enough’ or this person surpassed me. But you just really do have to trust God’s plan and God’s timing because, you know, I’m so grateful for my journey now. I feel like me having this slow and steady incline has been more beneficial to me than just blowing up super fast and then setting this high tone that I’m forever gonna be chasing in my career. You know what I’m saying? I’m grateful for the baby steps.”
A rarity for any artist her age, the entertainer born Alyssa Stephens has already spent more than a decade showing and proving in public. As a child protege, she was the inaugural winner of reality rap competition The Rap Game in 2016. Since then, the lyricist has had to adjust to a steep learning curve; Answering surgery rumors, listening to critiques of her original rap name, Miss Mulatto, and undergoing a change in stage moniker, constantly rebuffing the reductive claim that selling sex is her only talent with lyrical displays full of dexterity and wit. Since signing to RCA Records in 2020, she’s remained in streaming rotations with two strong albums. Queen of Da Souf in 2020, followed by 777 in 2022. Both proved she was capable of the Midas Touch but lacked the synthesized vision she’s finally zeroed in on with Sugar Honey Iced Tea.
Latto’s learned to set up boundaries along the way, too. Though her recent work expresses feelings of a woman clearly in love, she’s protective of her rumored relationship with a fellow rapper – a move, she’s said, to protect her peace. (Plus, in a male dominated field, this privacy allows her to prove she’s a savage all on her own.) She’s been goaded into rap beef more than once and, so far, has learned to balance holding her own (She’s traded subliminal disses with Bronx rapper Ice Spice this year, most notably on the track “Sunday Service.”) with tuning out the instigators.
“I feel like it’s like a one-of-a-kind experience, especially with the way the music industry is going now,” Latto says, describing how she started her career passing out her own CDs and watched music promotion go from a physical to digital game. “It’s allowed me to have the longevity that I’ve had because I was built before the Internet, so the Internet can never break me.”
When I ask her to consider the longevity she’s been maintaining in relation to that of EBONY’s upcoming 80 years of Black storytelling, her introspection gives way to a word: “I feel like brick-by-brick is my testimony, for real. I think in comparison, legacy-wise, I would say just building in that groundwork and having commercial success, but also culture success and community success is important. I’ve seen commercial success… But none of that is guaranteed in the long run without building a love in the culture and community, like people who got your back no matter what, no matter if this song is on Billboard or not. So, I think me and EBONY can relate in that way. We for the mainstream, but we also for the people.”

#RHOA: Peter Thomas Facing Possible Two-Year Prison Sentence
Peter Thomas could be looking at a few years in prison. The ex-husband of Real Housewives of Atlanta star Cynthia Bailey was pinched for withholding federal taxes from his restaurant employees’ checks but never actually paying the taxes.
(Alleged) serial debtor/restaurateur Peter pleaded guilty to one felony count of failure to pay over trust fund taxes this summer. Now, prosecutors are deciding how much time Peter deserves for one chunk of his indiscretions.
Federal prosecutors in Peter Thomas’ tax fraud case: He should spend “at least” two years in prison

This summer, Peter took a plea deal after a long battle over his long-standing failure to pay the IRS. He was looking at serving up to five years. Federal prosecutors now hope he’ll be sentenced to “at least” two.
According to The Baltimore Banner, a federal prosecutor memo regarding Peter’s case aimed to justify a prison sentence. It explained, “Thomas’s flagrant violation of his federal payroll tax obligations over many years that served to unjustly enrich his companies and himself by more than $2.5 million and deprive the federal government funds used to provide important retirement and disability benefits to employees.”
Instead of paying taxes he collected from his employees, the sentencing memo alleged that Peter instead spent it on himself. Expenses included $375,000 on travel and more than $250,000 on luxury goods from Givenchy, Louis Vuitton, Neiman Marcus, and Prada.
The memo threw some shade, too. “Thomas, like most tax cheats, was motivated by greed.” It continued, “Thomas defied the tax laws, expanding his business, hiring more employees, increasing overhead and adding more business locations at the expense of his legal obligations. Americans can spend their money as they see fit, including on business ventures. However, they cannot steal other people’s money—in this case their employees’ payroll taxes—to prop up their otherwise failing business ventures.”
North Carolina court documents filed between 2017 and 2023 outline Peter’s expensive missteps. “Thomas caused Club One CLT, Sports ONE, Sports ONE CLT, PT Media, Bar One Miami Beach, and Bar One Baltimore to fail to pay over $2,526,131.99 in employment taxes, including more than $1,740,000 in trust fund taxes from the wages of his employees.”

#MusicNews: Ne-Yo unveils new single ‘Show Me’
Three-time, Grammy award-winning hitmaker Ne-Yo has released his new single “Show Me,” which is currently available to stream via Compound Entertainment.
“Show Me” is an unapologetically sensual anthem that captures the electric chemistry between two people. Showcasing his smooth vocals, Ne-Yo croons
“Girl, can you show me? Gimme passion. Baby, if you really ‘bout that action, you gotta show me” as he explores themes of desire and connection.
The R&B star has also unveiled a music video to bring the song’s seductive energy to life with stunning visuals. In the video, Ne-Yo walks into a store to get fitted for a suit, where the woman helping him starts to imagine intense romantic experiences with Ne-Yo, from going on dates to being together in a jacuzzi.
The new release comes after Ne-Yo’s thrilling halftime show performance at the 2024 Dr. Pepper Big 12 Championship Game in Arlington, TX, where he performed with both Arizona State and Iowa State’s marching bands before delivering a medley of his own hits.
“Show Me” marks the second release since Ne-Yo became a fully independent artist. Earlier this year in June, the crooner unveiled the introspective

#HipHopNews: Lil Wayne Reveals He And Kendrick Lamar Spoke Privately Amid Super Bowl LIX Controversy
Despite rumors, a few speculative shots in Kendrick Lamar’s “wacced out murals,” and the upcoming Super Bowl LIX, there’s apparently no bad blood between Lil Wayne and the Compton native. On Monday (Dec. 16) evening’s airing of “The Skip Bayless Show,” the 500 Degreez rapper revealed they actually spoke amid social media pitting them against each other.
“I’ve spoken to him, wished him all the best and told him he better kill it. He gotta kill it,” Lil Wayne said. Sadly, for fans expecting a surprise appearance, the Young Money Records spearhead confirmed he’s “not even gonna be in the country” when the Super Bowl LIX takes over the Caesars Superdome on Feb. 9, 2025.
In a minutes-long video posted to Instagram in September, Lil Wayne said not being chosen for the annual football event “hurt a whole lot.” While Nicki Minaj, Birdman and others didn’t hold back, the Grammy Award winner put much of the weight on himself: “I blame myself for not being mentally prepared.”
Later in his conversation with Bayless, Lil Wayne was asked about Lamar’s “Used to bump Tha Carter III, I held my Rollie chain proud / Irony, I think my hard work let Lil Wayne down” line from “wacced out murals.” Interestingly, the New Orleans native claimed it was his “first time hearing” the track.
“I think he’s a fan like I’m a fan of his music. I think he meant he saw what everyone else saw. He saw how much it meant to me,” Lil Wayne explained. “He didn’t let me down.”
The “Believe Me” artist continued, “There was no explanation that was needed for that. I think I understand those words. His hard work is the reason why he made it there, and obviously, that part about letting me down is me just being upset and disappointed about not getting that spot.”
It’s worth noting that a day after GNX unexpectedly dropped on streaming services, Lil Wayne tweeted, “I just be chillin’ [and they] still [come for] my head. Let’s not take kindness for weakness.” Joe Budden even claimed that Lil Wayne “went in the studio” after hearing the lyrics, though that appears to be pure speculation for now.

Rayful Edmond, Former D.C. Drug Kingpin, Dies Suddenly Months After Release
Rayful Edmond III, the notorious drug kingpin who once ruled Washington, D.C., during the height of the 1980s crack cocaine epidemic, has died from a heart attack. Edmond, whose legacy is deeply intertwined with D.C.’s most violent years, passed away just months after his release from prison this past July. He was 60 years old.
During the 1980s, Edmond was a dominant force in the drug trade, working closely with the Medellín Cartel through the Trujillo-Blanco brothers. At the peak of his operation, it was reported that Edmond moved between 1,000 and 2,000 kilos of cocaine weekly. This staggering influx of drugs turned Washington, D.C., into what was grimly known as the “murder capital of the United States,” fueling an era marked by surging crime rates and community devastation.
Edmond’s reign came to an end in 1989 when he was arrested and sentenced to life in prison without parole. His operation’s downfall exposed the grim realities of drug-fueled violence in the nation’s capital and made Edmond a cautionary tale for the generations that followed. However, decades later, his cooperation with federal authorities on drug investigations led to a reduction in his sentence, which eventually paved the way for his release earlier this year.
Following his release in July, Edmond’s reappearance sparked mixed emotions across the D.C. community. While some questioned the former kingpin’s return and his remarks about being “better than ever,” others were hopeful that his story could serve as a lesson about redemption and change.
Despite his infamous past, Edmond’s impact on Washington, D.C., remains undeniable. The consequences of his empire still linger, as the crack epidemic of the 1980s reshaped families, neighborhoods, and the city’s future. His sudden death closes another chapter in one of the most notorious crime stories in American history.
As news of his passing spreads, many reflect on Edmond’s complex legacy—one that remains etched into the fabric of Washington, D.C., decades after his reign ended.

Supreme Court Justice Ketanji Brown Jackson Makes Her “Dream Come True” In Broadway Debut
Supreme Court Justice Kentanji Brown Jackson continues to make history outside of the nation’s highest court. Last Saturday (Dec. 14), the 54-year-old made her Broadway debut in the musical comedy & Juliet in a specially created one-night-only walk-on role at the Stephen Sondheim Theater, according to Playbill.
With the performance, Jackson achieved a lifelong dream, reviving her acting career hopes for the singular affair. For Jackson, it stands as a full-circle moment as she penned in her Lovely One memoir her goal of becoming the first Supreme Court Justice to perform on Broadway.
“I think that it means that anything is possible,” explained the Harvard graduate to CBS Mornings co-host Gayle King after the show. “Five years ago, I was a district court justice; nobody knew who I was. To have both of the pieces of my fondest dreams come true in this little bit of time has been extraordinary for me.”
She continued, “I’m overwhelmed with the joy of this experience. I’m so grateful to the staff and crew of & Juliet for helping my dream come true. It was phenomenal.” The special engagement differed from the acclaimed work as it featured two scenes written specifically for Jackson.
“I just always loved theater. And I felt very comfortable on stage. You know, I was always performing from when I was really young. It just felt like the theater people were my people,” she detailed to CBS.
In June 2022, the Miami native was sworn into the Supreme Court as President Joe Biden’s nominee. She was confirmed in April 2022 but had to wait for Justice Breyer to complete his term. In her role, she is the first Black woman to sit on the court.

‘Beyond The Gates’: CBS Drops Teaser For Highly Anticipated Black Soap Opera
The Dupree family is about to shake things up in the world of daytime TV. “Beyond the Gates,” an all-new CBS daytime drama, is set to premiere on February 24, marking history as the first Black soap opera in 35 years since “Generations” ended its run in 1991.
On Monday, December 16, CBS released the first teaser for the groundbreaking series.
According to the official logline, the show unfolds in a “posh gated community” nestled in “one of the most affluent African American counties” just outside Washington, D.C.
The teaser introduces the Dupree family, described as “powerful and prestigious” and the true embodiment of Black excellence in the lavish Fairmont Crest community.
“Your family rules this community,” one character declares in the teaser, while another boldly adds, “This is going to make history. How awesome is that?”
“Beyond the Gates” stars Clifton Davis and Tamara Tunie as Vernon and Anita Dupree, the family’s patriarch and matriarch.
Vernon, a “gentle, humble, and generous” former senator, is joined by Anita, a former singing sensation.
Their dynamic daughters include Dr. Nicole Dupree Richardson (Daphnee Duplaiz), a “high-achieving and competitive philanthropist and psychiatrist” whose seemingly perfect life hides deeper complexities, and Dani Dupree (Karla Mosley), a “former model turned momager” who gave up her career for love and has always marched to her own beat.
Helmed by veteran daytime drama writer and showrunner Michele Val Jean (General Hospital, The Bold and the Beautiful), “Beyond the Gates” began production in November.
Initially announced in March under the title “The Gates“, Sheila Ducksworth, president of CBS Studios’ NAACP venture, expressed the show’s groundbreaking potential:

Unreleased Michael Jackson Tracks Found in LA Storage Unit
*A long-lost collaboration between hip-hop icon LL Cool J and Michael Jackson has come to light after a physical recording of one of their unreleased tracks surfaced.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, former California Highway Patrol officer Gregg Musgrove found several DAT tapes with unreleased MJ songs in a Van Nuys storage unit he purchased. The tapes, recorded between 1989 and 1991, reportedly feature 12 unheard tracks, including one titled “Truth on Youth”—a duet featuring LL Cool J. The storage unit previously belonged to producer Bryan Loren, whom Musgrove has been unable to contact.
The unreleased tracks are music Jackson worked on before the “Dangerous” album, around 1989 to 1991.
“I’ve gone to all the fan sites. Some of [the songs] are rumored to exist, some of them have been leaked a little bit,” Musgrove told THR. “A couple aren’t even out there in the world.”
Musgrove’s collection includes snippets of several unreleased songs, as well as recordings of Jackson—and presumably Loren—discussing the creative process.
“I’m listening to this stuff, and I would get goosebumps because nobody’s ever heard this stuff before,” Musgrove said. “To hear Michael Jackson actually talk and kind of joke back and forth, it was really, really cool.”
One of the unreleased tracks is titled “Don’t Believe It.” In another recording, Jackson discusses the meaning behind a song called “Seven Digits,” which refers to the identification numbers given to bodies in a morgue. LL Cool J previously shared his experiences working with the King of Pop.
“Me and Michael Jackson went to the studio, man,” the rapper shared. “Mike showed a lot of love to me in general, and definitely to Hip Hop. Let’s be clear: For me, he’s the king. I’m a Michael Jackson fan, b. His talent speaks for itself.”
Although Musgrove intends to auction the tapes, the songs are unlikely to be released to the public, as Jackson’s estate has asserted ownership of the recordings’ copyrights.
A representative for the estate released the following statement: “The Estate of Michael Jackson was presented with DAT copies, NOT master recordings, of Michael’s music, and we confirmed that the actual master recordings were in fact already located in the Estate’s vaults. It should be clear to all that ownership and rights of exploitation to the recordings remain vested in MJJP Records, and that nothing commercial or otherwise can be done with the DAT copies.”

Netflix to Spotlight Mike Tyson in New Docuseries
Fresh off his live boxing match with Jake Paul, Netflix is spotlighting Mike Tyson’s life in a new docuseries.
The project, which consists of three 60-minute episodes, will follow Tyson from his meteoric rise as the he “Baddest Man on the Planet” to his personal struggles – including a period of incarceration and widely publicized struggles related to his finances, substance abuse and in-ring controversies – and his eventual redemption.
“Having an opportunity to share my story through the reflective lens of my growth and maturity in a multi-part documentary on Netflix will be a challenging journey, yet a very welcoming one,” Tyson said in a statement. “Most people are too scared to look at their lives objectively, wanting to paint themselves as the hero of their own story. But if we are truly objective, we know we can never be the hero in our own story. We have to be able to face the man in the mirror, taking the good with the bad to give a full account of our contributions in this life. Netflix is the perfect platform to tell my story because of their global reach.”
The series is produced by EverWonder Studio, DLP Media Group, Five All In The Fifth. EverWonder’s Ian Oerfice, Scratchy Productions’ Jim Gray, DLP Media Group’s Michael Hughes and Greg C. Lake and Five All In The Fifth’s Douglas Banker and director Floyd Russ (“Untold: Malice at the Palace,” “American Manhunt: The Boston Marathon Bombing,” “Zion”) serve as executive producers.
The Tyson-Paul fight, which aired on Nov. 15, saw a record 108 million viewers worldwide tune in – becoming the most-streamed global sporting event ever, peaking at 65 million live concurrent streams, with 38 million concurrent streams in the U.S. alone.
Netflix co-CEO Ted Sarandos told a UBS-hosted investor conference last week that demand for the event was “off the charts” despite some of its subscribers facing technical difficulties during the stream.
“We hate to disappoint a member for one second. So yes, there was some of that,” Sarandos admitted. “But the real thing is, we had an enormous live audience: 108 million people watching live. You’d have to go back to the ’80s to get a live audience that big. It’s a Super Bowl-like audience that we were able to draw for this fight.”
“We were stressing the limits of the Internet itself that night,” he added. “We had a control room up in Silicon Valley that was re-engineering the entire Internet to keep it up during this fight because of the unprecedented demand that was happening.”
The Tyson docuseries joins Netflix’s lineup of sports-adjacent programming including “Enigma: Aaron Rodgers,” “Simone Biles Rising,” “Quarterback, Receiver,” “Starting 5,” “Sprint,” “Formula 1: Drive To Survive,” “Full Swing” and more. It also comes as the streamer is gearing up to air two live NFL games on Christmas Day, followed by WWE’s “Monday Night Raw” starting January 6.https://youtu.be/o-y-QZT8rc0

Jay-Z’s lawyer separates rap mogul from Diddy
The Roc Nation founder had his attorney, Alex Spiro, tell the media that the transcendent emcee “isn’t going to get shaken down” by the woman, identified as Jane Doe, who claimed she was sexually assaulted at an after-party at the 2000 MTV Video Music Awards.
Moreover, Jay instructed his attorney to ensure the public knows that he and Sean “Diddy” Combs were not particularly close colleagues.
Jay-Z and Diddy not close, lawyer says
“This case needs to be dismissed, and Mr. Carter’s name needs to be fully cleared,” Spiro said. “There is no friendship or longtime bond here. Just because they knew each other, know each other, that doesn’t mean anything.”
Meanwhile, Jay has gone on the offensive in an effort to clear his name and end the lawsuit. Despite the abject embarrassment the lawsuit has caused Jay-Z, NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell said they will not sever ties with the iconic emcee and lauded Roc Nation for amplifying their social justice efforts.
Still, an indignant Jay-Z wants and expects this case to be dismissed in the coming days. The complainant has admitted several inconsistencies in her lawsuit that her attorney, Tony Bizbee, has addressed. Bizbee, however, maintains that Jay is guilty of what Jane Doe alleges in her lawsuit.
Criminal, not civil, complaint should be filed, rapper says
“These allegations are so heinous in nature that I implore you to file a criminal complaint, not a civil one!!” the rapper said through his attorney, according to NBC News. “Whomever would commit such a crime against a minor should be locked away, would you not agree? These alleged victims would deserve real justice if that were the case.”
“We expect Mr. Carter to be cleared of this in the coming days,” Spiro added in the statement.

Tiffany Haddish awarded nearly $100K in dismissed defamation case
From comedy clubs to courtrooms, Tiffany Haddish continues to prove she’s not one to back down from a challenge. The comedian and actor has emerged triumphant in a recent legal battle, with the court ordering her former friend Trizah Morris to pay $95,198 in legal fees following the dismissal of a defamation lawsuit.
The journey to this legal victory began when Morris filed claims against Haddish and fellow comedian Aries Spears. The lawsuit stemmed from a complex situation involving allegations made by Morris’s children about a comedy skit. Morris subsequently accused both comedians of defamation during the ensuing legal proceedings.
However, the court’s investigation revealed that a previous settlement agreement had already addressed and resolved these matters comprehensively. The arbitrator determined that Morris’s claims lacked merit, particularly given the existence of this prior agreement that legally barred any additional claims.
Justice served with a price tag
The financial implications of this ruling extend beyond Haddish’s awarded sum of $95,198. Spears also received $50,000 in legal fees, bringing the total financial consequence of the dismissed lawsuit to nearly $150,000. This substantial award sends a clear message about the consequences of pursuing legally unfounded claims against public figures.
Moving forward in the spotlight
For Haddish, whose rise to fame captivated audiences with her magnetic personality in Girls Trip and subsequent projects, this victory represents more than just a legal win. It marks another chapter in her evolution from a comedian who once lived in her car to an entertainment powerhouse who stands her ground.
This resolution allows Haddish to redirect her focus to what she does best: creating comedy and entertainment that resonates with audiences. Her journey from South Central Los Angeles to Hollywood success story continues to inspire, and this legal victory adds another layer to her narrative of perseverance.
A broader conversation
The case has sparked important discussions about accountability in the age of social media and instant accusations. As entertainers navigate an increasingly complex landscape where personal and professional lives intersect with legal challenges, Haddish’s experience highlights the importance of having proper legal protections in place.
The ripple effects of this ruling extend beyond Hollywood, touching on themes of friendship, loyalty and the price of fame. Community response has largely centered around discussions of protecting one’s reputation while maintaining integrity in the face of challenges.
This legal victory positions Haddish to move forward with renewed focus on her creative endeavors, from upcoming film projects to potential comedy specials. As she continues to build her legacy in entertainment, this resolution serves as a reminder of her resilience and determination to protect her hard-earned success.

Did Naomi Campbell and DJ Rampa Break Up?
Last summer super model Naomi Campbell was romantically linked to German music producer, DJ Rampa
Now insiders claim Naomi and Rampa have called it quits...
According to British rag The Sun: NAOMI CAMPBELL has one fewer Christmas present to buy – as she has split from her DJ boyfriend.
I revealed in August that she was dating top German music producer Rampa, with the pair enjoying a whirlwind romance, holidaying in Mykonos and taking in other trips to Istanbul and Ibiza.
But I’ve learned the jet-setting duo have called time on their short-lived relationship and no longer have anything to do with each other.
And the London-born supermodel made that very clear by unfollowing her ex on Instagram and deleting loads of love heart comments which she had previously left on his photos.
My source said: “Naomi and Rampa’s romance was a bit of a whirlwind but it’s over now.
“They were really into each other and wanted to spend every moment together, which they did for quite a while.
“But life got in the way and they’ve both been really busy.
“Ultimately they decided to call time on their relationship.
“It became clear it wasn’t feasible for them to be together so she’s cut off contact with him.

NBC Owned Television Stations group announced on Monday, December 16 that the beloved talk show hosted by Kelly Clarkson will return for another season. The daytime series, which features the Grammy Award-winning singer, has become a staple of daytime television, consistently holding the top afternoon spot in nationally syndicated afternoon talk series for the past six seasons.
The 2024-25 season of "The Kelly Clarkson Show" averaged 1.2 million viewers per day, showcasing its enduring popularity. The show is filmed in studio 6A at 30 Rockefeller in New York City, with Alex Duda serving as executive producer and showrunner and Clarkson also holding an executive producer role.
"Kelly Clarkson is a national treasure," Tracie Wilson, evp, syndication studios and E! News at NBCUniversal, said in a statement. "We couldn't wait to announce another season of The Kelly Clarkson Show, fresh off the top-rated Christmas in Rockefeller Center in which Kelly hosted."
Wilson praised the show's ability to entertain and inspire viewers, describing it as a "shining star" in daytime talk. Valari Staab, chairman of NBCUniversal Local, added that Clarkson and her team have "raised the bar in daytime television," citing its consistent viewership, engaging content, and high production quality.
"The Kelly Clarkson Show" has received critical acclaim since its launch in 2019, earning 22 Daytime Emmys, including multiple wins for best talk series and best talk series host. It has also garnered nominations for prestigious awards such as the Critic's Choice, GLAAD Media Awards, MTV Movie + TV Awards, and the Hollywood Makeup Artist and Hair Stylist Guild Awards.
Clarkson's commitment to inclusivity and mental health has been a focus for the show, particularly since addressing toxic allegations in 2023. "How do we fix this? How do we be better and better examples?" she said at the time. "So we're already doing that, and adding on to what we already had planned initially, just to make sure everybody feels included and a part of the team."
The renewal for a seventh season marks a departure from previous years when the show was renewed for two seasons at a time. "The Kelly Clarkson Show" continues to dominate key demos locally, with double-digit percentage increases among women 25-54 in major markets across the country. It airs in over 200 local stations nationwide, distributed by NBCUniversal Syndication Studios.

Justin Timberlake was mocked over his manhood following his recent show. The "What Goes Around... Comes Around" hitmaker was trolled by many social media users after suffering a wardrobe malfunction.
On Sunday, December 15, the NSYNC singer became a hot topic on TikTok after a video of him from his concert went viral. Social media users commented on his manhood, which was deemed "micro" by one of them.
In the comments section of the footage, one in particular wrote, " 'IS IT IN YET?' " Similarly, another chimed in, "The kinda man that says 'Is it okay?' " It did not take long for the comment to receive more than 7,000 likes.
Making a reference to singer Britney Spears, who was in a romantic relationship with Justin in the past, a third penned, "Brittney said 'I already knew this,' " adding a laughing face emoji. A fourth added, "Haha didn't Britney mention something about asking if it was in yet or something like that."
The comments came after the short clip from Justin's concert in Nashville, Tennessee was uploaded on the social media platform. In the video itself, it could be seen that he was entertaining concertgoers, belting out his 2013 song "Mirrors" on the stage. He was wearing a harness around his crotch area, making his bulge the center of attention.
While singing the track off "The 20/20 Experience" and holding a microphone in one of his hands, Justin used his other hand to try to cover the bulge with his top. However, the top, which was not long enough, failed to cover the bulge.
For the particular performance, Justin, who flaunted his short hair and beard, went with a casual outfit. He wore a navy blue top, which came with two long sleeves, and a pair of long black pants. He enhanced the look with sparkling chains around the pocket of his pants and some necklaces.

Travis Hunter Defends Fiancée Leanna Lenee Amid Backlash: “She’s Been Crying and Drinking All Day”
Heisman Trophy winner Travis Hunter comes to his fiancée Leanna Lenee’s defense as she faces escalating backlash for her recent behavior when making public appearances. In his emotional statement, Hunter states that Lenee has indeed taken this criticism deep inside. Most of her day goes in crying, and she resorted to consuming alcohol to kill the barrage of hate online.
The controversy began with a now-viral video of Lenee seemingly frustrated while Hunter took photos with fans at a recent event. While Hunter was giving warm greetings to supporters, including his female fans, Lenee could be heard saying, “What do you want me to do…I just sit here then,” which critics perceived as unsupportive during Hunter’s big moments.
This is not the first time Lenee’s public reactions have come under scrutiny. For a month now, she has been criticized for being unprepared for the spotlight that Hunter’s rising fame brings. Critics have questioned her ability to support Hunter as he basks in the glory of his Heisman win and prepares for a potential NFL career. Some have even called for the star athlete to reconsider their engagement.
Despite the backlash, Hunter has stood by Lenee, emphasizing their deep bond and long history together. The couple met during their time at Collins Hill High School in Suwanee, Georgia. While Lenee initially ignored Hunter’s Instagram messages, dismissing him as “just another athlete,” the two eventually forged a strong connection.
In a recent TikTok Q&A, Lenee got real about their relationship, admitting her initial impressions of Hunter evolved with time. However, her candor and emotional reaction have triggered online debate that she isn’t ready for the scrutiny that comes with a public relationship with a profiled sportsman.
Fans remain divided. Supporters of the couple argue that the intense scrutiny of Lenee is unfair and that viral moments should not define her character or the strength of their relationship. Others believe her reactions reflect poorly on her ability to navigate the challenges that come with Hunter’s fame, urging him to reconsider their future together.
For now, Hunter and Lenee appear committed to working through the challenges as a team. The couple has yet to set a wedding date, but their relationship remains a hot topic of discussion online.

Wisconsin authorities identify suspected Christian school shooter
On Tuesday (Dec. 17), CNN revealed additional information regarding the tragic shooting that took place at Abundant Life Christian School in Madison, WI on Monday (Dec. 16). According to the publication, authorities identified 15-year-old Natalie Rupnow, who went by the name “Samantha,” as the alleged perpetrator. Madison Police Chief Shon Barnes confirmed during a press conference that Rupnow died from a self-inflicted gunshot wound and was pronounced dead en route to the hospital.
The shooting occurred inside a classroom during a mixed-grade study hall. Police were first alerted to the incident by a 911 call made by a second grader at the institution. Chief Barnes explained that the investigation is ongoing and urged the community not to gather for a vigil as the school remains an active crime scene under overnight police surveillance.
Authorities are examining evidence linked to the incident, including an alleged manifesto posted online by someone reportedly connected to the suspect. “We haven’t been able to verify that it’s authentic,” Barnes stated, noting that the individual who posted the writings hasn't yet been located. He added that the information was shared with the FBI.
The suspect’s father is cooperating with law enforcement and is being questioned about any knowledge he may have had regarding his child’s actions. With that said, Barnes emphasized that police are not seeking to charge the parents at this time. Additionally, when asked by reporters about whether the shooter was transgender, the chief responded, “I don’t think that’s important at all,” adding that he did not believe the incident was connected to how the suspect self-identified.
Police are not aware of any prior interactions with Rupnow and have yet to release the names or ages of the victims until family notifications are complete. Among the six injured in the shooting, two students remain in critical condition with life-threatening injuries.
