Beauty is work of hair stylist Shay Ashual, and makeup artist Pati Dubroff using Chanel. For the cover story Robbie is wearing selected pieces from top brands such as Versace, Chanel, Valentino Haute Couture, Maison Margiela, Saint Laurent by Anthony Vaccarello, and Carolina Herrera to name a few.
It wasn’t that I ever wanted to play Barbie, or dreamt of being Barbie, or anything like that. This is going to sound stupid, but I really didn’t even think about playing Barbie until years into developing the project.
We of course would want to honor the 60-year legacy that this brand has, but we have to acknowledge that there are a lot of people who aren’t fans of Barbie. And in fact, aren’t just indifferent to Barbie. They actively hate Barbie. And have a real issue with Barbie. We need to find a way to acknowledge that.

American fantasy / comedy film Barbie is directed by Greta Gerwig, who also co-wrote it with Noah Baumbach. When it comes to rocking an orange-hued style, The Real Housewives of Atlanta are, let's say, pretty peachy keen.
The Georgia ladies showed as much for their Season 15 cast photo, keeping with the disco goddess glamour vibes in shades of gold, red, and orange. Kenya Moore, for her part, positively slayed in an incredible number by Miss Circle New York in a fiery golden-peach color. From the plunging sweetheart neckline to the thigh-high leg slit, the dress was made to command all the attention.
Kenya again commanded attention while recently vacationing in Turks and Caicos, rocking numerous stellar styles in the process. For the occasion, which celebrated Kenya's RHOA castmate Kandi Burruss, the Atlanta mom shared a photo of herself and Kandi posing on a yacht on May 25. "The things we talked about on this yacht!" Kenya joked in the Instagram caption, further thanking Kandi for the "amazing trip" and, of course, also wearing a sexy look to boot.
Kenya wears an orange cut-out bikini in Turks and Caicos
In the photo, Kenya donned a sizzling bikini top and matching bottoms from BFYNE. The top, which had both light orange and deeper-colored tangerine lining, had numerous elaborate cutouts and a super low-cut underwire design. Kenya also sat on the matching silky kaftan which paired with the swimsuit, soaking up the island sun with Kandi, who wore a black-and-white one-piece for the affair.

#BoxOfficeNews: ‘The Little Mermaid’ Tops Domestic Box Office Coming in at $118 Million!
After briefly hinting that it could exceed projections by a considerable margin, Disney’s The Little Mermaid is opening in line with expectations at the domestic box office. The live-action remake of the classic animated film is looking at more than $95.5 million in its three-day domestic debut and just over $117 million over the extended Memorial Day holiday weekend. On both counts, it’s nimbly outpacing Disney’s last major live-action remake, 2019’s Aladdin, which generated $116.8 million across the same frame.
Directed by Mouse House veteran Rob Marshall, The Little Mermaid made $38 million on Friday, including more than $10 million from Thursday previews. It added $30 million on Saturday, and by the end of today, it will have made around $104 million at the domestic box office. The movie is also expected to generate around $80 million from overseas territories, for an extended global debut in the $200 million range.
All eyes will now be on how comfortably it stays afloat over the next few weeks. Aladdin displayed incredible legs in 2019 and concluded its domestic run with over $350 million. It became one of four Disney live-action remakes to gross more than $1 billion globally, joining the likes of Alice in Wonderland, The Lion King, and Beauty and the Beast. Considering the enduring popularity of the original animated film, and the excellent A CinemaScore that it received from opening day audiences, the future looks bright for The Little Mermaid remake.
That's not quite the case for last week’s number one film, Universal’s Fast X, which is already slowing down at the domestic box office. The 10th installment in the long-running action franchise debuted with a soft $67 million last weekend, and it appears to be continuing the series’ downward spiral stateside. Fast X dropped by a huge 66% in weekend two, grossing $23 million. The film is expected to make $28 million across the extended four-day weekend, taking its running domestic total to $113 million.
Globally, Fast X crossed the $500 million mark but still trails the franchise’s biggest hits — Furious 7 and The Fate of the Furious, both of which grossed more than $1 billion — by a wide margin. Slipping to number three, Disney’s Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 passed the $300 million mark domestically this weekend, after adding around $20 million across the three-day frame and a projected $26 million across four days. The film’s running domestic total now stands at $306 million, which puts it only slightly behind the first Guardians of the Galaxy’s $333 million lifetime haul.
Only One New Release Debuted in the Top Five
Universal’s mega-hit The Super Mario Bros. Movie took the fourth spot, with $6.2 million across the traditional three-day weekend. The animated video game adaptation — the biggest movie of the year so far — is expected to make $8 million across the extended holiday weekend, which should take its running domestic total to $560 million. Globally, Super Mario has grossed $1.27 billion, which means that it is passing Frozen 2’s $1.28 billion gross to become the second-biggest animated movie of all time. The sole new release this weekend to find a place in the top five is The Machine, starring Bert Kreischer and Mark Hamill. The action comedy is eyeing a $5.8 million four-day debut, outclassing fellow new releases Kandahar and About My Father.
Selena Gomez Seemingly Confronts Security at Beyoncé Concert in Paris
Selena Gomez was recently seen seemingly getting into it with a security guard while at Beyoncé’s concert in Paris on Friday night.
Video footage of the incident shows Gomez walking with a security guard trailing behind her. It’s unclear what caused (what some have said looks like) the heated discussion but the man seemingly did something that the singer took issue with.
Some people online speculated that the man was aggressively shutting down a fan who was trying to get Selena Gomez’s attention and she wasn’t having any of it. In various videos, the 30-year-old was seen embracing fans by giving them high fives as she walked to her seat which could’ve caused the man to intervene.
There was also footage circulating showing a group of people attempting to mob Selena Gomez, so her security team was already on point with how excited fans were to see her at Beyoncé’s show. Fan reactions have also been divided with many supporting Gomez for standing up for people while others dragged her for lashing out at the man.
Flo Rida Agrees To Pay Huge Amount Of Child Support For Son After His Five-Story Fall
Flo Rida's legal battle with his baby mama is seemingly over. The "My House" rapper, who was previously accused of not paying their son Zoha Dillard's medical bills following his "tragic fall," has agreed to pay a huge amount of child support for the boy.
The emcee reached the agreement during a Family Court hearing that took place in New York City on Thursday, May 25. The package includes monthly and annual payments that could cost him around $500,000 a year.
Flo Rida reportedly agreed to pay $14,000 a month in support and $2,212 a month in health insurance for Zohar, who is a special needs child as he's been diagnosed with autism and a brain condition called hydrocephalus. In addition, he must set up a $300,000 escrow account for Zohar's needs, which must be replenished annually.
Not stopping there, the "Good Girls on Vacation" spitter has also been required to make a one-time payment of $188,000 to his ex-girlfriend and baby mama, Alexis Adams. The money is to compensate her for outstanding expenses.
Back in April, Alexis accused Flo Rida of refusing to pay medical bills for his son, who was critically injured after falling from a five-story window. She also alleged that the musician referred to their son as a "devil child."
While Flo Rida didn't respond to the allegations, he previously declared that Zohar was getting "the best medical care" following the incident. The 6-year-old himself reportedly suffered a shattered pelvis, left metatarsal fractures, a Grade 3 liver laceration, internal bleeding and collapsed lungs after the fall.
The incident led Flo Rida's baby mama Alexis to file a lawsuit against the Jersey City building's management. She accused the building's management of being "negligent and careless" as they "did not install size guards on the window."
Jordan Neely's family prepares to file wrongful death suit against Daniel Penny for fatal chokehold
The family of Jordan Neely is reportedly preparing to file a wrongful death lawsuit against the military veteran who held him in a fatal chokehold earlier this month.
On Saturday (May 27), it was revealed that Carolyn Neely, Jordan’s aunt and overseer of his estate, and her legal counsel have put Daniel Penny and his attorneys on notice. Carolyn is represented by Mills & Edwards, LLP. The Manhattan-based law firm specializes in personal injury, civil rights, criminal defense, and business defense. “Please be advised that this office has been retained…to pursue a claim for personal injuries and wrongful death… Your action resulted in the death of Jordan Neely,” read a letter from the firm that was obtained by the New York Post.
Penny, 24, claimed he acted in self-defense on May 1 after Jordan, 30, began to have an aggressive outburst on an NYC subway train. The known street performer was held in a chokehold for several minutes, resulting in his passing away. A medical examiner ruled his death a homicide. The former U.S. Marine has been charged with second-degree manslaughter.
Carolyn’s attorneys previously criticized the charge for being lenient. “The consequences of manslaughter is five to 15 years. Ask yourself, is that going to be enough?” asked attorney Donte Mills at a May 12 press conference. “When you’re trained in combat, it gives you options, but Daniel Penny chose to use a technique that is designed to cut off air, and he chose to continue to hold that chokehold until there was no life left in Jordan Neely. We believe that the conviction should be for murder because that’s intentional,” he added.
Last week, REVOLT reported on Penny’s first interview, where he addressed claims that he is a white supremacist. “I judge a person based on their character. I’m not a white supremacist,” he told the New York Post. The comments were made as outrage grew over a white man, Penny, choking a Black man, Jordan, to death. He continued, “I mean, it’s, it’s a little bit comical. Everybody who’s ever met me can tell you I love all people, I love all cultures. You can tell by my past and all my travels and adventures around the world. I was actually planning a road trip through Africa before this happened.”
Penny is currently out on a $100,000 bond. According to The New York Times, he plans to testify during his trial.
Roland Martin Slams Eboni K. Williams’ Comments About Gabrielle Union & Dwyane Wade Splitting Bills: ‘Which One Actually Has A Husband? Next!’
Sheesh! Journalist and commentator Roland Martin took to Hollywood Unlocked’s Instagram comment section to slam Eboni K Williams after we shared her comments about Gabrielle Union and Dwyane Wade splitting bills.
For the past week or so, Union and Wade have been trending after the actress spoke with Bloomberg about her personal finances and how she and her NBA baller husband go 50/50 in their household.
Union admitted, “I think I just have more responsibilities for my money so I get nervous like oh God that movie didn’t open, well what does that mean? Am I going to have enough to hold everybody up and everyones like it’s coming calm down.”
She added, “And I’m trying to find peace in the journey and not using my anxiety and scarcity mindset to be my engine, which is hard. It’s weird to say I’m head of household because in this household we split everything 50/50.”
Taking to her show, ‘The Grio with Eboni K Williams,’ the lawyer and journalist spoke with another Grio contributor, Monique Judge, who said she’s “not giving a man [her] money.”
Williams agreed and said, “Well, I think you know how I feel about it. I think for me, this is generational, right? I think [we should] set some foundational points.”
Williams continued, “I know I was raised by a single Black mother that said exactly what you just said, Monique. You know, we don’t supplement men in this house, period. And at that point, when we’re going to be going 50/50, it’s almost like a roommate situation. Well, at that point, Monique, I might as well be married to you and share a household with you. So, that’s my perspective.”
Williams then added, “I think this younger generation, I think they do feel differently. I think that they do tend to feel more eco-tarian. And I think too that Dwyane Wade may be younger. We have to remember that there is an age gap between Gabrielle Union and Dwyane Wade. So, I think that these younger men have a very difficult time with these traditional notions of them being head of household, and that translating to them taking care of the bills.”
Roland Martin slammed Williams and Judge and said, “This is BEYOND STUPID. Has NOTHING to do with traditional norms. Hell, there is a lot that isn’t traditional. So some wanna holla, ‘I’m an independent Black woman,’ but then want to fall back to this traditional crap. And out of these three, which one actually has a husband? NEXT!”
College Basketball National Champs Make Their Celebratory White House Visits
The 2023 NCAA men’s and women’s basketball champions made their celebratory trips to the White House on Friday as President Joe Biden and first lady Dr. Jill Biden congratulated both teams on their seasons.
The women’s basketball champion Louisiana State University Tigers were first to be honored, as the Bidens lauded their accomplishments and the example they set.
“You didn’t just play basketball, you didn’t just make history, you showed us – girls and boys, women and men – what it means to be a champion. You gave us hope and joy, a way to find that fire in ourselves. And most of all, the chance to see you soar. Thank you for giving us those gifts,” the first lady said.
Vice President Kamala Harris also spoke during the celebration ceremony, congratulating the Tigers on their first-ever championship and applauding them for their inspiring example.
“Throughout your record-breaking season, you showed the world who you are. You are leaders. You are role models, and of course, you are champions. Tigers, we know through your grit, determination, and brilliance you changed the game. When you take the court, you inspire so many people across our country and as we talked about earlier, you are inspiring people that you may never meet,” Harris said.
During his remarks, President Biden celebrated the team’s record-breaking accomplishments and called on the country to support women’s athletics.
“Folks, we need to support women’s sports not just during the championship runs but the entire year and every season. Showing up in person, watching on television, creating more programming and sponsor and scholarship, and sponsorships and opportunities for millions of women and girls to realize their dreams and know they can do literally anything at all,” Biden said.
Later on in the day, the Bidens welcomed the NCAA men’s basketball champions, the University of Connecticut Huskies, for their own celebration.
“This team is proof that there’s no quit in UConn, just like there’s no quit in America – none. There’s nothing we can’t do when we believe we can do it if we do it together. And that’s exactly what you all did. You stood up. And that’s what sports and this country is all about: Possibilities,” Biden said.
The president also joked about a one-on-one showdown between LSU star Angel Reese and her cousin on the Huskies, Jordan Hawkins.
“So, I’ve set up a basketball on the South Lawn. There’s a court down there by the tennis courts and, Jordan, your uncle thinks he can take you as well. So, I just want you to know that after this we’re all going to go down to see that one-on-one game,” Biden said.
During the LSU celebration, the first lady and Reese hugged after the jersey presentation. There had been some public drama around the visit after the first lady suggested that LSU’s championship opponents, the University of Iowa Hawkeyes, would also be invited. Reese took issue with the comments, which Biden walked back shortly after, and said that she and her team would not visit the White House. Days later, Reese said she would attend.
During his remarks celebrating LSU, the president also welcomed some of the administration officials and members of Congress attending the event, including several of the various negotiators from the White House and Capitol Hill who are working on an agreement to raise the nation’s debt ceiling.
Two from Louisiana – Shalanda Young, the director of the Office of Management and Budget, and Rep. Garrett Graves, one of House Speaker Kevin McCarthy’s lead negotiators – were on hand to celebrate LSU.
Biden noted Graves’ presence alongside other lawmakers in attendance and gave a hearty shout-out to Young, whom he said is “putting together a deal, hopefully.”
“She’s reppin’ Baton Rouge and Clinton, Louisiana, and is now helping lead the critical budget talks we’re in the middle of now,” Biden said. “But she said, I’m leaving the talks to be here.”
Graves and Young both hail from the Baton Rouge area and have previously worked together. Young’s parents are Graves’ constituents.
The proceedings were delayed for a few minutes after a player on the risers behind Biden appeared to pass out or faint during his remarks. After a few minutes she was able to get up and the people in the room clapped. She was then brought out of the room in a wheelchair.
“Like I said, this is not the first time this has happened, not to her but to a lot of folks standing up on this stage,” Biden said.
Jury Rules In Favor Of Toy Maker of OMG LOL Surprise Dolls; T.I. and Tiny Sought $100M
A California federal jury ruled against a legal claim by rapper Clifford “T.I.” Harris and singer-songwriter Tameka “Tiny” Harris.”
The jury sided with the Chatsworth-based toy manufacturer against the claim it stole the name and likeness of a girl group the married couple managed to create a popular line of dolls.
T.I. and Tiny sought nearly $100 million from MGA Entertainment, Inc., over their sales of OMG LOL Surprise dolls, Whitter Daily News reported.
In their claims, the couple alleged that the hair, dress, and name of the dolls were nearly identical to their music group OMG Girlz. From 2009-2015, the couple promoted the three-member teenage girl group.
In 2020, a year after the company started selling the product, the Harris family sent a cease-and-desist order to MGA, and the company sued back.
On Friday, the jury ruled in favor of the toy maker after its attorneys argued the girl group’s trademark on the OMG Girlz name lapsed in 2018.
“They abandoned it,” Jennifer Keller, an attorney for MGA attorney said. “They actually abandoned it when they changed their name,” Keller continued, referring to the group’s rebrand to OMG.
Keller also referenced the 1st Amendment, saying it protected MGA’s creative team in creating original doll designs.
“They were not famous,” Keller said. “These ladies were trend followers, not trendsetters. They never achieved liftoff.”
The OMG Girlz’ attorney, John Keville, argued the music group had a significant following on social media platforms and had a strong presence in the Atlanta area, adding that they had a strong fan base among Black teenage girls.
The attorney pointed out the similarities between the group’s outfits and the dolls, as well as their names, hair, and makeup.
Friday’s verdict concluded the two-and-a-half-year court battle between the parties.
White House And Mccarthy Move To Lock Down Votes After Striking Deal To Avoid Default
President Biden and House Speaker Kevin McCarthy reached an agreement in principle to avoid a potentially disastrous government default and raise the nation's debt ceiling. But as details – and criticism – of the deal began to trickle out on Sunday, both sides moved to rally support for a plan that negotiators concede will not please everyone.
Speaking to reporters Sunday at the White House, Biden called the agreement "good news."
"The agreement also represents a compromise, which means no one got everything they want," Biden said. "But that's the responsibility of governing."
The deal follows weeks of negotiations and a tense creep toward a deadline to raise the government's borrowing limit. The final package is expected to have opponents on the extremes of both parties, but the announcement Saturday indicates that Republican and Democratic leaders believe they will gain enough bipartisan support to pass the legislation. That confidence will be tested over the next few days as the measure makes its way through the House, where Republicans hold a slim majority.
The proposal holds nondefense spending for fiscal year 2024 at roughly current levels and raises it 1% in 2025, according to a source familiar with the negotiations. The agreement separately raises the debt limit for two years.
The text of the bill was expected to be available Sunday afternoon, and McCarthy plans to put the measure to a vote in the House chamber as early as next Wednesday.
"After weeks of negotiations, we have come to an agreement in principle," McCarthy said, speaking in the U.S. Capitol. "We still have a lot of work to do but I believe this is an agreement in principle that's worthy of the American people."
According to a source familiar with the talks, the deal protects tens of billions of dollars for clean energy, rebates and clean-up efforts for harmful pollutants from oil and gas.
White House settles for partial work requirement increase
Despite repeatedly indicating that increasing the number of people subject to work requirements for federal assistance programs was a red line in negotiations, Biden conceded to temporary increases in work reporting mandates for some elderly food stamp participants.
While the deal does not make changes to work requirements for Medicaid recipients as Republicans initially proposed, it does include a compromise focused on increasing the number of food stamp recipients who are subject to work requirements.
The bill would raise the minimum age of food stamp recipients who would be subject to work requirements from 50 to 54. However, there are special protections for veterans and people who are homeless. All of those changes expire in 2030, though, unless they're renewed by Congress.
Rep. Pramila Jayapal (D-Wash.), chair of the Congressional Progressive Caucus, told CNN's State of the Union that expanding work requirements for food stamp benefits is an "absolutely terrible policy," adding that she needs to see the legislative text before deciding whether she can support the proposal.
The Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP), also known as food stamps, currently limits able-bodied adults without dependents ages 18-50 to three months of SNAP benefits during any 36-month period when they cannot show they are employed or in a work or training program for at least 20 hours a week.
Biden urges the House and Senate to quickly pass the agreement
Biden insisted he did not negotiate with McCarthy on the debt ceiling, noting that the talks were restricted to "the cuts" in spending, telling reporters on Sunday, "I made a compromise on the budget."
"That's what we are negotiating in order to get to them deciding that they're going to go along with a new debt ceiling," Biden said while urging Congress to pass the agreement.
Biden previously insisted he wanted Congress to authorize a debt ceiling increase without any conditions. But last month House Republicans approved a bill that would raise the debt ceiling in exchange for spending cuts. GOP negotiators used that proposal as a framework for talks with the White House.
On Saturday evening, Republican leaders held a call with GOP members to unveil the details of the deal. McCarthy praised the agreement for having "historic reductions in spending," while also ensuring there would be "no new taxes, no new government programs." He added that the deal included "consequential reforms that will lift people out of poverty and into the workforce."
Members of the far-right House Freedom Caucus blasted the deal on Sunday. "Hold the line," Rep. Chip Roy of Texas tweeted. "No swamp deals."
But Rep. Dusty Johnson, a South Dakota Republican and chair of the conservative Main Street Caucus, told CNN's State of the Union that he thought the Republican opposition to the agreement would only come from a small minority of members.
"When you're saying that conservatives have concerns, it is really the most colorful conservatives," Johnson said. "Those votes were never really in play. We get that. But overwhelmingly Republicans in this conference are going to support the deal."
Racing against deadline, both chambers plan for votes
The timeline to avoid a default remains tight. On Friday, Treasury Secretary Janet Yellen updated her guidance on the so-called "X date" — when the U.S. would run out of money to pay its bills — to June 5. Previously she had said it would be as early as June 1.
McCarthy has vowed that House members would get 72 hours to review any legislation before a vote. If the bill passes the House, it would then head to the Senate for a vote on final passage and on to the president to sign.
Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer sent a letter to Senate Democrats on Sunday advising them to be prepared for votes next Friday or over the weekend. The breakthrough on reaching an agreement came about an hour after McCarthy and Biden spoke on the phone Saturday. Key negotiators for both sides worked through the night to write the bill. On Sunday, McCarthy and Biden spoke again to review the final legislative text.
