#MAGFAB: Jennifer Lopez Covers Rolling Stone
Jennifer Lopez is taking over the March issue of Rolling Stone. The songstress and actress is being interviewed for the magazine’s Icons and Influences issue as she promotes her new film, “Marry Me.”
In the cover story, Lopez spills the tea on how she “broke all the rules to get to the top.” She agreed and claimed that her motto has always been “f–k it.” While she opened up about her rise to fame, she “tried not to say too much” about her rekindled romance with Ben Affleck.
“I won’t talk about it. We’ve both grown. We’re the same, and we’re different. And that’s what’s nice,” she told the publication.
To complement the cover, the pop culture icon donned a plunging number by Balmain. The one-piece ensemble included a low-cut V-neckline that goes all the way down to her belly button. The blazer features sharp shoulder pads, short lapels and side cut-outs on the waist to complement the plunging neck.
The “Hustlers” actress accessorized the wide-leg leotard with a watch, cuff bracelet and hoop earrings. She swapped her usual long tresses for a blunt cut bob. When it came down to the shoes, J-Lo elevated the deep cut garment with a pair of platform pumps. The height-defying heels included a thick outer sole and a solid 6-inch heel.
The chart-topping artist donned more than one look for the pictorial. Another photo shows Lopez posing in a white mesh outfit. The one-piece consisted of a distressed top and sheer bottoms. She tied her look together with metallic pumps.
Her third look consisted of a sheer shawl that she wore over a long-sleeve nude bodysuit. This time, the “Get Right” singer slipped into a pair of see-through pumps. The shoes had a sharp pointed-toe and a thin heel.

Kandi Burruss and Marlo Hampton are sharing a peek into their fabulous friendship. The Real Housewives of Atlanta ladies brought all the glamour while recently enjoying a fun night out together, as they captured in a new video on Instagram.
On February 4, Kandi and Marlo shared a peek into their latest night on the town on Instagram. In the epic clip, the dynamic duo can be seen strutting down a staircase in unison before heading to a pool table to show off their skills. The pair dressed to the nines for the occasion, with Marlo rocking a fitted long-sleeved white dress paired with white furry boots and Kandi donning a pastel pink bodysuit with peachy pink leggings and matching heels.
“When the Talls & the Smalls link it’s game time,” Kandi wrote in the caption of the clip, also adding a winking face emoji.
As announced back in October, Kandi and Marlo will return to the upcoming Season 14 of RHOA as official cast members alongside Kenya Moore, Shereé Whitfield, Drew Sidora, and newcomer Sanya Richards-Ross, a four-time Olympic gold medalist.
Earlier this month, Marlo teased what fans can expect from her first season as a Housewife. “You just wait for this season, baby. I will not disappoint," she told Bravo Insider. "Because you know what? Life is a peach [laughs]."

#HipHopNews: Deaf Rappers to Perform With Dr. Dre, Eminem and Others at 2022 Super Bowl Halftime Show
Dr. Dre is making sure his upcoming Super Bowl halftime show is all-inclusive with deaf rappers set to perform alongside Eminem, Snoop Dogg and others at the event.
According to a report by the Detroit Free Press, published last Friday (Feb. 4), deaf rappers Sean Forbes and Warren (WaWa) Snipe have been tapped to perform at the Super Bowl LVI halftime show, which will take place at SoFi Stadium in Los Angeles on Feb. 13. This will be the first time the NFL has added American Sign Language (ASL) performances to their halftime program.
"The doors to accessibility are busted wide open with something like this," Forbes told the newspaper. The 40-year-old ASL rhymer wouldn't divulge what his performance will entail, but he did reveal that he'll be accompanying Em and Snoop on stage.
Meanwhile, this will be Warren's second Super Bowl performance. At Super Bowl LV, in February of 2021, he delivered a spirited rendition of the national anthem with R&B singer Jazmine Sullivan and country singer Eric Church, along with a performance of "America the Beautiful."
For Forbes, who helped launch the Deaf Performing Arts Network (DPAN) for sign-language performers, his specific connection with Eminem goes way back. The Detroit native would always see Em working on music at his father’s local 54 Sound studio. In 2005, Forbes had a chance to show Em a video of his ASL rendition of "Lose Yourself" and it left the Oscar-winning rapper dumbfounded."Deaf people like music?" was Slim Shady's response, Forbes recalled.
Forbes added that his dream as a 12-year-old rap fan was to perform at the Super Bowl and now he gets to live it out this Sunday (Feb. 13) with Dr. Dre, Em, Snoop, Kendrick Lamar and Mary J. Blige.
"My goal is to get out there, show what we can do, and have fun," added Forbes. "And I want to open the door for other deaf performers."
The Super Bowl LVI matchup will air live on NBC at 6:30 p.m. EST on Sunday. The halftime show will likely start just after 8 p.m. EST.

#RIP: Blues & Soul Legend Syl Johnson, Has Passed Away Syleena Johnson’s Father
Legendary Blues and Soul artist Sylvester “Syl” Johnson has passed away at the age of 85. A Mississippi native, Johnson happened to be the father of R&B singer-songwriter Syleena Johnson.
The Johnson family released a statement:
“It is with extreme sadness that our family announces the passing of Soul & Blues Hall of Fame Legend, Syl Johnson (born Sylvester Thompson in Holly Springs, MS). Dad, Brother, Grandfather, Great Grandfather, Uncle, Friend & Artist, he lived his life as a singer, musician, and entrepreneur who loved black music, A fiery, fierce, fighter, always standing for the pursuit of justice as it related to his music and sound, he will truly be missed by all who crossed his path. His catalog and legacy will be remembered as impeccable and a historical blueprint to all who experience it, At this time, we ask for your prayers for our family, his friends, and fans, and we ask that you continue to play his music and share the remarkable legacy he’s made in music.”
Syl Johnson moved to Chicago with his family around the age of 14. There, he became a music legend. His 1967 single “Different Strokes” revived his career in the ’90s when several rappers used it as a sample.
Jay-Z, Wu-Tang Clan, the Geto Boys, M.C. Hammer, Public Enemy, and more have reinvented the song.
Amir Locke supporters call for firing of police chief, officer who fatally shot him
A coalition of mostly Black mothers gathered Monday at City Hall in Minneapolis, where they called for the firing of the police officer who fatally shot Amir Locke, as well as for the firing or resignation of the interim police chief.
Locke, a 22-year-old Black man, was fatally shot by Minneapolis police Wednesday as officers served a no-knock warrant at an apartment shortly before 7 a.m.
Nekima Levy Armstrong, a civil rights attorney and activist who confronted Mayor Jacob Frey and interim Minneapolis Police Chief Amelia Huffman at a news conference Thursday, listed the group's demands.
"I'm honored to stand in solidarity with the family of Amir Locke, but the reality is that we should not have to be here," said Armstrong, who was surrounded by women holding signs with Locke's photo and the words "Justice for Amir Locke." "How many more Black lives have to be lost and needlessly taken by those who are supposed to protect and serve?"
She demanded that Frey immediately fire Mark Hanneman, the Minneapolis police officer who she said fatally shot Locke, as well as called for the immediate firing or resignation of Huffman, who she said has proven herself unfit to lead the department.
"She failed — miserably," Armstrong said. Huffman failed to "speak truthfully and candidly" about what transpired at the apartment and to take accountability, Armstrong said.
"We do not want a chief who continues with business as usual," Armstrong said. "Even after the body camera footage was released, she continued to distort the truth," to pretend that Locke was a suspect and to focus on a gun he had a license to carry, she said. She also questioned Huffman's recent appointments, some of whom, Armstrong said, "had long disciplinary records."
"So we ask that Mayor Jacob Frey step up to the plate immediately," Armstrong said. "No more excuses, no more hiding behind policies that do not fully get implemented."
Frey said in a statement Friday that no-knock warrants would not be allowed while the city reviewed its policy. A spokesperson for Frey and for the police department did not immediately return requests for comment about the group's demands.
Hanneman joined the department in 2015. Huffman was appointed interim police chief in December, replacing Medaria Arradondo, who announced his retirement that same month after a three-decade career in public service. Huffman joined the department in 1994.
The coalition also called on Frey to fire or discipline the other SWAT team members.
A brief and graphic police body camera video released by the department Thursday shows the officers using a key to quietly enter the apartment. They then file in and begin to yell. One of the officers kicks the couch Locke's parents have said he was sleeping on. Armstrong said the kick awakened Locke, who was wrapped in a blanket, "and within two seconds he was dead." Locke had a gun in his hand, but it is unclear whether he was aware that police officers had entered the apartment.
"So it wasn't just one officer working alone," Armstrong said. "They were working in concert, and they need to be held accountable."
In a news release Wednesday, Minneapolis police described the handgun as having been "pointed in the direction of officers." However, in the footage it's not clear whether that was the case.
Locke had been working for the food delivery service DoorDash and was a week away from moving to Dallas, where his mother, Karen Wells, lives. Nneka Constantino, a cousin of Locke's who spoke at the gathering Monday, said "the Second Amendment is for Black people, too."
"Our family is not naive," Constantino said. "So we understand that it was not necessarily a person but a system of injustice that has killed Amir Locke."
She said her family was hurting and in severe pain and that Locke's parents had raised him to be polite, respectful and responsible.
"And I think what the family is reconciling is knowing that if he was a white child with a firearm, he would not have been shot within a second," she said. "We believe he would have been told to drop your weapon, to drop your firearm."
Constantino said the family knows police are trained and have demonstrated that they are able to disarm people and de-escalate situations, "but that's only deployed with non-Black people."
She said Locke had been unfairly painted as a suspect, which she attributed to an "old, racist playbook of yesteryear" and said was in contrast to the truth.
Benjamin Crump, a civil rights attorney representing Locke's family, has compared Locke's killing to that of Breonna Taylor, a 26-year-old Black woman who was fatally shot by police in Louisville, Kentucky, in March 2020 during a botched raid on her apartment.
"If we learned anything from Breonna Taylor, it is that no-knock warrants have deadly consequences for innocent, law-abiding Black citizens," Crump said at a news conference Friday.
The Minneapolis Police Department's SWAT team had been carrying out a warrant for the St. Paul Police Department's homicide unit.
Huffman said Friday that officers had a warrant for three locations in the apartment complex and that Locke was not named in the original search warrant. She said it was unclear whether he was connected to the St. Paul police investigation and that both a no-knock and a knock search warrant were obtained for the three locations.
The entire encounter lasted less than 10 seconds. Locke's parents have said he was executed after he was startled from a deep sleep.
"It was hurtful. It hurt deep to see my son executed, to see our son executed," Locke's father, Andre Locke, said at a news conference Friday. "But the part that struck me the most was that he never got a chance to see or to know who killed him."

But I try to make the best possible decision I can in the moment, which I did this last week. And, again, I think it’s not looking to reverse course, I’m definitely not looking to do that. Zendaya Defends ‘Euphoria’ After D.A.R.E. Slams Show For ‘Glorifying’ Teen Drug Use & Addiction
After much backlash from D.A.R.E. America, Zendaya is defending her hit show “Euphoria,” despite criticism for “glorifying” teen drug use and addiction.
Last month, D.A.R.E., which stands for Drug Abuse Resistance Education, claimed the hit HBO show — which follows Los Angeles high school students experiencing addiction and more — likes to “misguidedly glorify” drug use among teens. A rep said, “Rather than further each parent’s desire to keep their children safe from the potentially horrific consequences of drug abuse and other high-risk behavior, HBO’s television drama, ‘Euphoria,’ chooses to misguidedly glorify and erroneously depict high school student drug use, addiction, anonymous sex, violence, and other destructive behaviors as common and widespread in today’s world.”
Defending the show and her character “Rue Bennett,” Zendaya fired back, “I’ve had a lot of people reach out and find so many parallels from all ages, all walks of life. So many parallels with Rue and her story and Rue means a lot to them in a way that I can understand, but also maybe in a way that I could never understand, and that means that means the most to all of us.” To D.A.R.E. and others, she adds, “Our show is in no way a moral tale to teach people how to live their life or what they should be doing. If anything, the feeling behind ‘Euphoria‘ or whatever we have always been trying to do with it, is to hopefully help people feel a little bit less alone in their experience and their pain. And maybe feel like they’re not the only one going through or dealing with what they’re dealing with.”
Andrew Yang Apologizes For Tweet Saying Joe Rogan Isn’t Racist Because He Works With Black People
Former Democratic presidential candidate Andrew Yang has apologized for his tweet defending Joe Rogan, in which he asserted Rogan isn’t racist because he works with Black people.
“I don’t think Joe Rogan is a racist — the man interacts with and works with black people literally all of the time,” Yang shared to Twitter Sunday.
He said he deleted the tweet because it was “wrong-headed. It also hurt people, which is never my intent. I’m sorry. I’m learning and appreciate those who reached out to express their feelings,” Yang added.
Yang sent those tweets one day after Rogan, who has been the middle of controversy for his viewing on Covid-19 and vaccine misinformation on his Spotify podcast, handed out a public apology for his past use of racial slurs.
In a five-minute video posted on Instagram on Saturday he started, “I never used it to be racist.” He said though he used the N-word in the past, he hasn’t used it in years, calling his behavior “the most regretful and shameful thing that I’ve ever had to talk about publicly.”
Yang’s remarks quickly sparked backlash, also outrage from Democratic National Committee Chairman Jaime Harrison, who sent out a tweet saying, “Dude… seriously?! You joking right Andrew? Is that now the new defining line… working with folks?!”
Yang deleted his initial tweets and shared a new thread saying, “I think we should have the capacity to forgive people — whether a podcaster or a mayor — if they mess up. Maybe it’s because I mess up too.”
Lionsgate will distribute a new Michael Jackson biopic
Back in 2019, Deadline reported that Bohemian Rhapsody producer Graham King had secured the rights for a theatrical feature and three-time Oscar nominee John Logan will be writing the script. Now, a Michael Jackson biopic is officially on the way. Lionsgate just announced today (Feb. 7) that they will be handling global theatrical distribution of the feature, which is officially titled “Michael.”
According to a press release announcing the distribution deal, the feature will “give audiences an in-depth portrayal of the complicated man who became the King of Pop. It will bring to life Jackson’s most iconic performances as it gives an informed insight into the entertainer’s artistic process and personal life.”
“I first met the Jackson family in 1981 and I’m humbled to bring their legacy to the big screen,” Graham King said. “Sitting at Dodger Stadium watching the Victory Tour, I could never have imagined that nearly 38 years later I would get the privilege to be a part of this film.”
It is worth nothing that the new “Michael” film is being made with the cooperation of the Michael Jackson estate. “Ever since Michael was little, as a member of The Jackson 5, he loved the magic of cinema,” said Katherine Jackson, the singer’s mother. “As a family, we are honored to have our life story come alive on the big screen.”
Also recently, Jackson’s life and music was the source of inspiration for another work of art: a Broadway show. The show is titled “MJ” and takes place as Jackson prepares for the infamous 1992 “Dangerous World Tour.”
In regards to news about the Jackson family, Janet Jackson also recently received a film of her own with the Lifetime/A&E documentary Janet. The highly-anticipated first part of the series of the “definitive story on Janet Jackson” debuted on (Jan. 28). It treated fans with never-before-seen footage of Ms. Jackson’s meteoric rise to superstardom.
Brooklyn Museum to honor Virgil Abloh with special exhibition
The Brooklyn Museum will honor Virgil Abloh with a survey of his trailblazing work in the fashion industry.
According to the museum’s recently-released exhibition schedule, the “Figures of Speech” demonstration — “the first museum survey exhibition devoted to the late artist and designer Virgil Abloh”— is a new iteration of the fashion icon’s 2019 homonymous show at the Museum of Contemporary Art in Chicago. It aims to celebrate Abloh’s inspiring career with a display of his many creative ventures, including personal art and pieces from his time at Louis Vuitton, Nike and Off-White.
Abloh is credited for combining streetwear and luxury as well as breaking barriers for Black people in the fashion world. He passed away in November after privately battling a rare form of cancer. In the wake of his death, peers of the Off-White creative honored him with various tributes. Drake, for example, got a tattoo of Abloh, Kid Cudi dedicated his Rolling Loud California set to the star, and Vince Staples paid homage to Abloh in his song titled “What You Taught Us.”
The Brooklyn Museum also paid homage to the fashion icon’s life and legacy in a tribute that initially teased the forthcoming exhibition.
“Virgil‘s dedication to his artistry provided new opportunities and equitable pathways in art and design,” read the museum’s statement. “He will be remembered and celebrated through his legacy. Our heartfelt condolences are with his family.”
Louis Vuitton also celebrated the star on social media as well as in Miami, where they presented some new and old pieces at the “Virgil Was Here” show. Abloh’s final LV collection debuted at the Paris Fashion Week last month.
The Brooklyn Museum’s “Figures of Speech” exhibition, which is curated by Antwuan Sargent, is set to open this summer in July and will close months later on Jan. 29, 2023.
NBC Clarifies Stance on Leslie Jones' Olympics Tweeting Issue, Claims 3rd Party Error
Leslie Jones is free to continue live-tweeting about the Olympics after a misunderstanding with some of her posts.
via AP: NBC spokesman Greg Hughes said Monday night that some of Jones’ videos that were blocked were the result of a “third-party error” and not NBC.
“We have resolved the situation. She is free to do her social media posts as she has done in the past,” Hughes told The Associated Press. “She is a super fan of the Olympics and we are super fans of her.”
Jones took to social media Monday morning saying that she might give up live tweeting the Beijing Games.
“I love the athletes and they love me doing it. And I know y’all love it. But now it’s just gotten too hard. And no one is fighting for or with me. Soooo I guess I’ll leave it to the professionals,” Jones wrote on Twitter and Instagram.
Some of Jones’ posts were blocked because of increased policing of taped video displayed by social media companies. In 2014, NBC agreed to a $7.75 billion deal with the International Olympic Committee for rights through 2032.
NBC’s highlights rights are the most stringent. Non-NBC affiliates are not allowed to run highlights until after NBC signs off for the night, which is usually 2:30 a.m. in New York. There are also limits as to how many minutes can be shown.
Some of Jones’ posts, showing NBC’s coverage while she is commenting, are nearly 1 minute long.
Jones, who was on NBC’s “Saturday Night Live” for five years, has live-tweeted about the Olympics since the 2016 Rio de Janeiro Games. She was a guest of NBC in Rio and the 2018 Pyeongchang Winter Games.
Jones said on Twitter Sunday night that she enjoys watching and tweeting about the Olympics because people were telling her during the Rio Games that no one watches the Olympics.
“I have watched Olympics since I could walk lol,” Jones said. “Me and my dad. So this is from my heart. … These are athletes, this is like everybody coming together no matter like what’s going on and competing in the games.”
Wendy Williams’ Assets Frozen by Wells Fargo Amid ‘Dementia’ Rumors
*A Wells Fargo bank has reportedly put an account belonging to Wendy Williams on lockdown as the bank suspects “financial exploitation, dementia or undue influence.”
As reported by The Sun, Wendy, 57, is asking the court for an emergency order requiring Wells Fargo to unfreeze her accounts. In the filing, Williams claims the bank is in “possession of several million dollars’ worth of funds” that she has not been able to access for more than two weeks.
Wendy’s former financial advisor has reportedly advised the bank that Wendy “was of unsound mind”, but Wells Fargo has denied her access to her accounts and statements, according to Wendy’s attorney.
The move comes amid reports that Williams is battling dementia.
Wells Fargo has reportedly cited its client agreement to justify freezing Wendy’s accounts. The bank has the authority to “pause or reject instructions for a proposed transaction,’ pending judicial or administrative remedies, should they suspect financial exploitation, dementia, or undue influence,” per the petition.
Meanwhile, Williams’ brother has shut down reports that she is wheelchair-bound and suffering from early stages of dementia.
The “Rickey Smiley Morning Show” reported that Williams “is confined to a wheelchair” amid her declining health and hiatus from her beloved talk show. The show’s Toine The Don explained that she “has lost all blood circulation in her legs and in her feet” and her TV return remains uncertain.
“We gotta pray for Wendy. We know that she’s been battling with addiction, alcoholism, all that good stuff, and it’s also been reported that Wendy has been suffering from the early stages of dementia.”
“The entertainment group Lionsgate reportedly has Wendy stored away under lock and key to prevent another booze and vodka-filled depression,” Toine said in an Instagram post.
Toine also claimed Wendy’s ex-husband, Kevin Hunter, is cheating on his fianceé, Sharina Hudson.
Wendy’s brother Tommy reportedly spoke with The Sun and refuted Toine’s claims about his sister’s mental health.
“We haven’t had any alerts like that and I haven’t seen anything like that or have had conversations with her that would lead me to believe that,” he said. “We routinely go up and check on Wendy even though we’re all down here in Florida… I try to make it up there and my dad speaks with Wendy frequently. So no, we don’t have any concerns concerning her mental state. It’s all physical.”
Williams is not expected to return to her daytime talk show anytime soon as several guest hosts continue to fill in until a permanent host is announced. Some say the permanent host could be actress Leah Remini.
Williams’ attorney is seeking a court order to allow her “access to her financial accounts, assets, and statements,” while her dispute with Wells Fargo is resolved in arbitration, according to the report.
The petition alleged that Williams is suffering “imminent and irreparable financial damage.” Her team is demanding the bank give access to Wendy and “her agents, members, officers, employees, representatives and anyone else acting on Respondent’s behalf.”
There are Multiple ‘Smurfs’ Movies in the Works at Paramount, Nickelodeon
Paramount Animation and Nickelodeon Animation are teaming with LAFIG Belgium and IMPS to produce multiple movies based on the Smurfs franchise.
The first project from the new partnership banner is an animated musical film to start production this year ahead of a Dec. 20, 2024, release. Pam Brady (South Park, Team America) will write the first movie, with other creative roles, including the director, still to be announced.
The Smurfs property is based on characters and stories created by Belgian artist Pierre Culliford, known as Peyo.
“Nickelodeon is the home to some of the world’s most popular family franchises and we’re honored to add The Smurfs to that roster. We’re excited to tell a story that stays true to its origins, but with a Smurf-tastic musical twist that excites new audiences and builds on the Smurfs franchise and universe of wonderful characters and stories,” Ramsey Naito, president of animation for Paramount Animation and Nickelodeon Animation, said in a statement on Monday.
Nickelodeon, LAFIG Belgium and IMPS have also ordered a second season, or 26 episodes, of the original CG-animated TV series The Smurfs. Under the TV deal, Nickelodeon licensed the global rights to The Smurfs, which follows Papa Smurf, Smurfette, Brainy, Hefty, Clumsy and other characters.
The series launched in September 2021 in the U.S. and then aired on Nickelodeon channels internationally and on some European public channels.
The Smurfs film marks Nickelodeon Animation’s second CG-animated theatrical production after Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: The Next Chapter, a CG animated film directed by Jeff Rowe and slated for an Aug. 4, 2023, release.

While speaking with People’s Kay Adams, Davidson used the term in passing when referring to Kardashian.
“I don’t really have Instagram—I don’t have Instagram or Twitter or any of that stuff. So, most of my daily life is getting into cars and showing up to a set,” Davidson said. “Or, if I’m off, I just either hang with my friends or chill with my girlfriend inside. So I don’t do much.”
Davidson also opened up about navigating fan attention when he’s out in public, telling People that “once in a while, someone will scream something at you, or it might be hard to get Dunkin’ Donuts.”
“But other than that, it’s pretty fine,” he added. “It’s not awful. It could be way worse.”
While Davidson seemingly hasn’t called Kardashian his “girlfriend” in a public setting before, he has talked about her openly—and briefly— during public appearances. During a headlining talk at the University of Rochester’s Winterfest this month, Davidson opened up about his relationship in an effort to get all the Kim talk out of the way, so he could chat with students about other topics.

Alvin Kamara Arrested On Battery Charges After Playing In The Pro Bowl
New Orleans Saints running back Alvin Kamara was arrested on a battery charge on Sunday in Las Vegas after being accused of injuring someone at a nightclub on the eve of the Pro Bowl, according to the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department.
Police said they were dispatched around 5:50 p.m. local time Saturday to a hospital where a person had reported a battery at a nightclub. The police said detectives determined the victim was battered by Kamara.
Kamara was taken into custody after playing in the Pro Bowl on Sunday where he had four catches for 23 yards. He was booked at the Clark County Detention Center, where he remained overnight.
His bail was set at $5,000 and a court hearing is scheduled for Monday afternoon, according to AP.
On the football field, Kamara had 1,337 yards from scrimmage and nine touchdowns this season en route to being selected for his fifth Pro Bowl in five seasons as a pro.
