#RHOA: Kandi Burruss’ 72-Year-Old Mom Gets Butt Treatment In New Bravo Series Trailer
In the trailer for Kandi Burruss’ new Bravo reality show, “Kandi & the Gang,” the “Real Housewives of Atlanta” star’s 72-year-old mother, Joyce Jones — better known as “Mama Joyce” — grins as she prepares for an apparent butt treatment.
Looking at Mama Joyce’s nearly bare bottom as she lay on a medical table, Burruss, 45, can’t help but comment on the beloved TV matriarch’s backside.
“That booty look right for 72!” the proud daughter enthuses in the clip.
But “Kandi & the Gang” — Burruss’ latest spin-off for the network after “The Kandi Factory,” “Kandi’s Wedding,” “Kandi’s Ski Trip” and “Xscape Still Kickin’ It” — isn’t all cosmetic procedures and compliments.
The series will follow Burruss, husband Todd Tucker, their family and the staff of their Atlanta eatery Old Lady Gang (OLG) “as they face a much-needed change at the restaurant while juggling their career ambitions, larger-than-life personalities and personal lives,” according to a press release.
If the preview is any indication, Mama Joyce — who, alongside Burruss’ aunts Bertha Jones and Nora Wilcox, inspired OLG’s name and menu — certainly brings the drama.
“I have never, ever said that was my motherf—king restaurant!” she shouts at one point, though it’s unclear who she is talking to.
Elsewhere, Burruss and Tucker’s employees tease a tantalizing work dynamic full of friendships, feuds and romantic pursuits.
“Everybody f–ks a co-worker or two at Old Lady Gang,” Shawndrica Robinson says.
Later, the OLG hostess admits that she and parking lot manager Patrick Dallas were once in a complicated “situationship.”
In another moment, manager Brandon Black tells bartender Dom’Unique Variety they can no longer hook up as future intimate relations could negatively impact their jobs.
Naturally, onscreen fights seem to be prevalent among staff members — who even quarrel with their famous bosses at times.
The reality series will follow Burruss, husband Todd Tucker, their loved ones and the employees of their Atlanta restaurant Old Lady Gang.
Bravo
“It’s dysfunctional,” Tucker, 48, tells Burruss in a confessional. “Between your family and some of that staff, those people [are] crazy in there.”
Expressing her desire for peace both at home and at OLG, the Grammy-winning songwriter says, “As a family, we need to be on the same page.”
“Kandi & the Gang” premieres Sunday, March 6, at 9 p.m. ET on Bravo.

#HipHopNews: Nicki Minaj Weighs Potential Verzuz Battle
Nicki Minaj may be ready to get in the Verzuz ring.
While promoting her upcoming single “Do We Have a Problem?” on Houston’s 97.9 The Box, the rap queen was asked whether she would entertain a Verzuz battle.
The host suggested that Drake or Lil Wayne would be the only qualified rappers to against her, but Nicki didn’t seem to agree. “Drake and Wayne have so many bonafide hip-hop hits, so I don’t know,” she said before suggesting a female competitor.
do think there might be a female or two…” she continued.
She admitted that there have been discussions about a potential Verzuz. “There were talking to me about it. And look, if it’s gonna be fun, then you never know,” she said. “It should feel like a celebration. That’s exactly what I would like it to feel like.”
One name that has been thrown around is Lil’ Kim. While the two have had a rivalry that dates back to 2007, the Queen Bee revealed that she would be down to battle Nicki in Swizz Beatz and Timbaland’s matchup series.
“Is there anybody you would do it against?” DJ Envy asked Kim at the BET Awards last year. “Nicki,” she responded without hesitation.
“I would love to see that,” said Envy to which Kim replied, “Yes, me too.”
Verzuz has only featured one female rap battle when Eve and Trina faced off last June.
LADIES AND GENTLEMEN MEET THE WASHINGTON COMMANDERS!
Washington, meet the Commanders. Nearly two years after dropping its longtime name and logo under pressure, the Washington Football Team announced it would rebrand as the Commanders, in a nod to the region’s links to the armed forces.
The name, announced on NBC’s “Today” show on Wednesday, was chosen after the team received more than 40,000 submissions from fans online and through the mail. The team then boiled a list of 1,200 unique names down to 50, and those were tested in market research groups filled with fans, season ticket holders, former season ticket holders, politicians, current and former players and other groups.
Jason Wright, the team’s president, said that the team’s fans come from a diverse set of backgrounds, which made it a challenge to find a name that might appeal to them all.
“Our task was less of a marketing endeavor and more about finding a cross section of unity,” he said. The team’s fans across the spectrum, he said, believed the new name should reflect concepts like resilience, grit, tradition and family.
The team’s primary logo will be a “W” for Washington — not unlike their logo for the past two seasons — but the slanted elements of the stripes bordering the letter “are inspired by military rank insignia.” The franchise now shares a name with President Biden’s dog, Commander, which he introduced in December.
“Washington” runs across the front of the new home jerseys and the “C” in “Commanders,” which is represented in gold, has diagonal cuts to point the reader across the name. The two gold stripes above and below the name reference the Washington, D.C. flag.
All along, the team said it would keep its traditional burgundy and gold colors, which are unique in the N.F.L. Scrapping them was a “non-starter,” Wright said.
Ed O’Hara is the creative lead at Pet Turtle Branding, which develops brands for sports and entertainment groups, and who helped several colleges that had previously used Native American imagery adopt new names. He said that name changes often elicit negative reactions from fans, but Washington keeping its team colors would provide a sense of continuity.
“Color is a powerful measure of loyalty and indicator of a brand,” O’Hara said. The team’s colors are “unique, and it’s who they are,” he said.
He said the name Commanders dovetails with the significant military presence in and around Washington, D.C., though O’Hara said the name sounded a bit generic and perhaps had too many syllables.
“It works with the region,” he said. “But it feels worn out, not fresh.”
Some names were eliminated because they were used by other teams, or because there were concerns they might violate trademarks.
Ultimately, four finalists went through a full design process, which included seeing how they looked on television, in print, on social media and on uniforms and helmets.
The alternative names included the RedWolves, Admirals, Generals, Armada and Presidents, names floated in social media announcements and statements from Wright, who eliminated some names from contention because they conflicted with trademarks held by other teams, including both variations of the RedWolves name.
Teams are sometimes renamed or rebranded when they move to different cities or are sold to new owners. The Rams kept their name and colors but changed their logo and uniforms when they moved to Los Angeles from St. Louis before the 2016 season. In Major League Baseball, the Marlins replaced Florida with Miami in their name when they moved to a stadium in city limits. The current Cleveland Browns are a reactivated version of the team after Art Modell moved his version to Baltimore and it became the Ravens.
In Washington’s case, the team for years faced calls from fans, sponsors and Native American groups to drop the previous franchise name, which had long been considered a racial slur of Native Americans. The team’s owner, Daniel Snyder, resisted that pressure and fended off legal challenges aimed at stripping the team of its trademarks.
But in July 2020, following the murder of George Floyd by the police, and a national debate that followed over the treatment of nonwhite people, Snyder relented and discarded the name “Redskins,” which had stood for 87 years.
Unlike prior calls to change the name, Snyder also faced pressure from sponsors like Nike, Pepsi and FedEx, which threatened to remove its corporate name from the team’s stadium in Maryland if no action was taken.
During that time, the Cleveland M.L.B. franchise dropped its longtime name, which also included Native American imagery, and changed it to the Guar
In some ways, developing a new name and logo has been a welcome distraction for a club dogged by negative news. Through most of 2020 and 2021, Snyder was involved in a contentious fight with three longtime limited partners in the franchise. After several rounds of mudslinging and court battles, the league’s owners agreed to let Snyder buy out his former partners for $875 million and fully consolidate his ownership of the team.
At the same time, the league took over an investigation into reports of widespread harassment of women who worked for the team, allegations that dated back nearly two decades. In July, N.F.L. Commissioner Roger Goodell fined the franchise a record $10 million and ordered Snyder to stay away from the team’s facilities for several months.
He was, however, allowed to continue the team’s search for a new name and logo, as well as a new stadium to replace FedEx Field, which opened in 1997.
On Thursday, some of the women who accused team and its executives of harassment will speak at a Congressional round table in Washington.
The team has not done much better on the field. The team has had only five winning seasons this century and not won a playoff game since the 2005 season.
Whoopi Goldberg Suspended From 'The View' Over Holocaust Comments
Whoopi Goldberg has been suspended from “The View” over her on-air comment Monday that the Holocaust was “not about race.”
“Effective immediately, I am suspending Whoopi Goldberg for two weeks for her wrong and hurtful comments,” ABC News President Kim Godwin said in a statement provided Tuesday to HuffPost. “While Whoopi has apologized, I’ve asked her to take time to reflect and learn about the impact of her comments. The entire ABC News organization stands in solidarity with our Jewish colleagues, friends, family and communities.”
During a discussion on the talk show about a Tennessee school board’s controversial decision this month to remove “Maus,” Art Spiegelman’s Pulitzer Prize-winning graphic novel about the Holocaust, from the eighth-grade curriculum, Goldberg argued that the Holocaust was “not about race. It’s about man’s inhumanity to man” and that it involved “two white groups of people.”
Prominent Jewish organizations, including the Auschwitz Memorial and Anti Defamation League, criticized her comment.
“The Holocaust was about the Nazi’s systematic annihilation of the Jewish people ― who they deemed to be an inferior race,” Anti-Defamation League CEO Jonathan Greenblatt wrote in a tweet directed to Goldberg.
Goldberg issued a statement Monday evening offering her “sincerest apologies.”
“The Jewish people around the world have always had my support and that will never [waver]. I’m sorry for the hurt I have caused,” she wrote.
Brian Flores sues NFL and three teams for racial discrimination in hiring practices
Flores says he was discriminated against in the interview processes for several coaching positions after he was fired as head coach in Miami.
Brian Flores has filed a lawsuit against the NFL and three teams — the Dolphins, the Giants and the Broncos — alleging that he was discriminated against in the interview processes for several coaching positions after he was fired as head coach in Miami.
According to ESPN, the 58-page suit claims Dolphins owner Stephen Ross tried to encourage Flores to lose games on purpose shortly after he was hired in 2019. The former head coach says Ross offered him $100,000 for every game the team lost that season. As the team won games later in the season, Chris Grier, general manager of the Dolphins, told Flores that Ross was upset that his on-field success was “compromising [the team’s] draft position.”
Flores also claimed that Ross pressured him into recruiting a “prominent quarterback” as the 2019 season wrapped up. The coach declined because he did not want to violate the NFL’s regulations on tampering. Flores said he was then invited to go on a yacht with Ross for lunch in 2020, where the “prominent quarterback” was “conveniently” coming to the marina for a spontaneous meeting. After refusing to meet with the player, Flores said he was “treated with disdain and held out as someone who was noncompliant and difficult to work with.”
He was then terminated from the team on Jan. 10, 2022, despite leading the organization to its first back-to-back winning seasons since 2003.
In the lawsuit, Flores also said that his interview with the Giants was a “sham” after he accidentally received a series of texts from Patriots coach Bill Belichick about how the Giants wanted to hire former Bills offensive coordinator Brian Daboll for the position.
“God has gifted me with a special talent to coach the game of football, but the need for change is bigger than my personal goals,” Flores said in a release on Tuesday (Feb. 1). “In making the decision to file the class action complaint today, I understand that I may be risking coaching the game that I love and that has done so much for my family and me. My sincere hope is that by standing up against systemic racism in the NFL, others will join me to ensure that positive change is made for generations to come.”
Flores wants the NFL to address several areas, including increasing the influence of Black individuals in hiring; increasing the number of Black head coaches, general managers (GMs) and coordinators in the league; and transparency of pay for those individuals.
Adele Responds to the Rich Paul Breakup Speculation With One Instagram Message
Rumor has it that Adele and her boyfriend, Rich Paul, are on the rocks, and the singer simply isn't having it.
Despite recent speculation that the two have hit a snag in their months-long romance—amid rumors that she also had to pull the plug on performing at the BRIT Awards next week—the 33-year-old Grammy winner set the record straight on all the hearsay in a cheeky Instagram post.
"Hiya, so I'm really happy to say that I am performing at the Brits next week," she captioned a candid photo of herself laughing on Feb. 1. "Anddddd I'll also be popping in to see Graham [Norton] for a chat on the couch while I'm in town too! I'm looking forward to it! Oh, and Rich sends his love."
As expected, Adele's latest not-so-subtle message has fans rolling in the deep parts of their happiness for the singer. One fan wrote, "Tell ‘em Adele!" With another commenting, "STOP I'M SO HAPPY RN [right now]." A third follower added, "YASSS QUEEN."
The latest confirmation of her return to the stage comes just weeks after she announced that she had to postpone her anticipated Las Vegas residency.
"Listen, I'm so sorry but my show ain't ready," she explained in a video on Jan. 20, one day before the concert series was set to begin. "We've tried absolutely everything that we can to pull it together in time and for it to be good enough for you, but we've been absolutely destroyed by delivery delays and COVID."
Adele also told her fans that she was "so upset" and "really embarrassed," while explaining that half of her team has COVID-19. "It's been impossible to finish the show," she said tearfully. "I'm gutted and I'm sorry it's so last minute. We've been awake for over 30 hours now trying to figure it out and we've run out of time."
But, as Adele confirmed herself, the show must go on—starting with the BRIT Awards on Feb. 8. And we already know of one special fan ready to be by her side, sending his love, of course.
India.Arie to Remove Music From Spotify Due to Joe Rogan’s Comments on Race and Covid-19 Misinformation
Following in the footsteps of music legends Neil Young and Joni Mitchell, R&B legend India.Arie has announced her plans to remove her music from Spotify.
On Monday night, the singer took to Instagram to announce her decision, “I have decided to pull my music and podcast off Spotify,” she said.
Arie credited Young for bringing attention to Spotify and demanding that his music be taken off the service due to his dissatisfaction with the way Spotify has dealt with Joe Rogan’s podcast, The Joe Rogan Experience, frequent promotion of false COVID-19 information, and racially charged rhetoric.
“Neil Young opened a door that I MUST walk through,” she wrote. “I believe in freedom of speech. However, I find Joe Rogan problematic for reasons OTHER than his COVID interviews,” Arie noted, saying that for her, “ITS ALSO HIS language around race. What I am talking about is RESPECT — who gets it and who doesn’t.”
Arie did not specify which of Rogan‘s race-related comments she found problematic. Still, he was recently criticized for saying it is “weird“ to refer to people as black unless they are “100% African, from the darkest place, where they’re not wearing any clothes all day.”
Additionally, the singer took issue with how much the company pays musicians compared to controversial podcasters.
“Paying musicians a Fraction of a penny? and HIM $100M?” she said of the reported figure Rogan got from Spotify for his podcast. “This shows the type of company they are and the company they keep. I’m tired.” In a comment on the post, she added, “I wonder who else is tired.”
R. Kelly Contracts Covid-19 in Jail, Wins Two-Week Extension to File Appeal
Testing positive for COVID-19 wasn’t all bad for R. Kelly, who has been detained in a Brooklyn federal jail.
via: Rolling Stone
U.S. District Judge Ann M. Donnelly ruled the R&B singer now has until Feb. 17 to formally begin fighting his September conviction on charges he had sex with underage girls and bribed a state employee to create a phony ID card so he could marry the 15-year-old singer Aaliyah.
In a filing ahead of the judge’s decision, Kelly’s lawyer Jennifer Bonjean wrote that the singer’s Covid diagnosis “interfered with his ability to speak with counsel by telephone” to review his post-trial paperwork.
Bonjean is the same lawyer who last year helped Bill Cosby overturn his 2018 sex assault conviction in Pennsylvania, leading to the comedian’s release from prison.
“It is vitally important that Mr. Kelly meaningfully participate in his post-trial defense,” Bonjean wrote in her letter to the court filed Tuesday. “The (jail) has not indicated when visits will resume which is less than ideal, but undersigned counsel is confident that she can accomplish necessary discussions with Mr. Kelly via upcoming scheduled Zoom visits.”
In a Twitter post Tuesday, Bonjean said her client was faring “well” following his infection.
“Understandably, many people are concerned about Mr. Kelly’s health and well-being (as am I). Mr. Kelly is doing well, but there is no question that MDC’s COVID policies are putting all inmates in harm’s way,” she wrote.
At Kelly’s trial, jurors heard that he sought the illegal marriage with Aaliyah because he believed she was pregnant. He thought the legal union would save him from jail.
The disgraced musician faces a mandatory minimum sentence of 10 years when he’s sentenced in May. The maximum is life in prison.

Don Cornelius Accused Of Sexually Assaulting Two Playboy Bunnies In New Docuseries
Famed Soul Train creator Don Cornelius is accused of sexually assaulting and locking up two women. The accusations against the late television creator come in the A&E docuseries Secrets of a Playboy.
In the episode that aired Monday, P.J. Masten, a former playboy bunny and a “bunny mother” stated that Cornelius was a “Playboy VIP Gold member.” Cornelius allegedly took two bunnies back to his home to party and they weren’t heard from for three days. A member of the Playboy security team visited Cornelius’s home to find the women “bloodied, battered [and] drugged.”
“They were tied up and bound,” Masten said. “There were wooden objects that they were sodomized with and [one sister] could hear [the] other sister being brutalized. It was horrible, horrible.”
In response, Cornelius’s son, Tony Cornelius released a statement to PEOPLE stating the story is “unbelievable” and there is no “real proof.”
In her televised statement, Masten said nothing happened to Cornelius and he was right back in the Playboy club the following week.
Cornelius died in 2012 by a self-inflicted gunshot to his head inside his Sherman Oaks, California home.
Meek Mill Plans To Not Release Next Album Through Major Label
Meek Mill has been hiding in the shadows. Since the release of his Expensive Pain album in 2021, the rapper faced a lot of backlash following his choice of artwork for the album. Many expressed, they felt that the rapper was displaying African American women in poor taste. The 18 track project featured verses from Kehlani, Lil Durk, Lil Baby, Asap Ferg, and more.
It seems as though the rapper is ready to release a new project, but this time Meek plans to drop it to his fans in a different way than usual. With a few tweets on Twitter, Meek Mill stated that he would release new music without a major record label, with the intention to reinvest his profits to his hometown, Philadelphia.
“No major label …. So every time I make real money off music … ima invest a million in my hood… off the flow! Pay attention ‘real steppa shit,'” he tweeted. Many were wondering how Meek could execute such a plan, before he revealed that he plans to use NFT’s to drop the new heat.
“What platform with block chain ready for music …. I may do one platform for my music ?????? Serious question??? Sandbox, opensea ?????” he continued.
The “On My Soul” rapper then followed up with a snippet of an unreleased song to his Instagram with the caption, “DC5 10m a mixtape no major label.”
Could this be the new way artists release music to fans? Last year, Tory Lanez sold one million copies of the $1 NFT album in seconds. Will Meek Mill be the next?
Simon Cowell hospitalized, suffers broken arm after second e-bike crash
Simon Cowell “broke his arm,” but was not seriously injured following another accident on his electric motorbike last week,
A source told us Tuesday the “America’s Got Talent” judge, 62, was riding the bike when he “slipped off” and fell, but he is “OK.”
A second source added, “He’s doing well and is healing at home.”
The Sun reported that Cowell was “lucky to be alive” since he was propelled off the bike after driving 20 mph and was not wearing a helmet.
The incident reportedly took place last Thursday near his home in West London.
“He was pedalling along, with his electric motor on, when the wheels suddenly went from under him after hitting a wet patch,” an insider told The Sun on Monday night.
Simon Cowell broke his arm after crashing his e-bike, sources told Page Six.
“He slipped and went flying over the handlebars into the middle of the road.”
The source said Cowell’s decision to not wear a helmet was “stupid” and said the choice caused him to bleed all over his face like “something from Phantom of the Opera.”
This is the second time Cowell, pictured here on Jan. 26, has gotten into a bike accident.
The former “American Idol” judge was taken to a nearby hospital and released within a few hours with a bright yellow cast.
Cowell has crashed while riding his bike once before.
In August, the British-born music executive broke his back in three places while riding the $20,000 bike outside his Malibu mansion. He underwent a six-hour surgery to repair his spine, and doctors inserted a metal rod into his back.
The Sun reported he won’t give up his bike, but that he would start wearing a helmet.
Cowell reportedly contemplated suing the manufacturer of the EB-01 bike in December for up to $10 million in damages.
According to The Sun’s report Tuesday, however, the TV personality won’t give up his e-bike for good, but has vowed to start wearing a helmet.
A rep for the Cowell declined to comment.
Police Respond to Tisha Campbell’s Claims of Attempted Human Trafficking
Tisha Campbell recently claimed alleged sex traffickers tried to kidnap her in Texas, but according to local police, there is no evidence to back up her story.
The actress shared a video over the weekend detailing the alleged moment a man in a van approached her, demanding she gets into his car while she was waiting for her ride.
Campbell claims she repeatedly told them “no” and avoided being thrown into the van.
“This trafficking s**t is real, but they got me f**ked up,” she said. “This was a video I sent to my brother right after it happened, but I felt important for people to be aware. I need for everyone to be overly conscious of themselves and their loved ones.”
After sharing the details of her alleged kidnapping via social media, the police released a statement addressing the claim. “The Brownsville Police Department is committed to providing proactive, professional, and effective public safety. Regrettably, our department became aware of Ms. Campbell’s ordeal via social media and not through traditional reporting means as would be expected from a victim of an attempted heinous crime.”
The Police department quickly launched an investigation based on the facts presented by Campbell in her video and stated that “such cases are not the norm in our city.”
They claim to have conducted several interviews and viewed security camera footage. Still, they could not validate Ms. Campbell’s stay in Brownsville hotels “nor any other claims made in the video.”
The department also said they take “human trafficking and incidents such as the one Ms.Campbell reported seriously and welcome her to reach out to us to investigate further.”
Her rep later responded, claiming the incident did not happen in Brownsville. According to Campbell, the situation unfolded near a Mariott hotel at South Padre Island. She also provided the local police department with the number she was given during the “set up.”
One of Campbell’s followers backed up her claim, writing, ” Yes, sis they were about to get you. [I] just made six rescues this week, and they ALL gave me the same description.”
The local police in that city have yet to comment on the matter or confirm if Tisha had called them to report the alleged kidnapping.
