#MusicNews: HBO Presents the Tina Tuner Documentary Tina……Here’s a First Look!

In the first look at the HBO documentary film “Tina,” Tina Turner recalls losing her mother when she was young, having watched her look out the window of their home until one day she wasn’t there and never came back.

Turner explains how this memory shaped her and helped the music legend overcome hardship throughout her career.

“I wanted her to come for me. I waited. She never did,” Turner says in the trailer. “And it’s all right. You know why? I’m a girl from a cotton field. I pulled myself above the destruction and the mistakes, and I’m here for you.”

“Tina” comes from directors Dan Lindsay, T.J. Martin, who are the directors of the Oscar-winning “Undefeated,” and it will document Turner’s early rise to fame, her personal and professional struggles and her resurgence as a phenomenon in the 1980s. The documentary debuts on HBO on March 27.

“Tina” begins in the fall of 1981 when she sits down for an interview with Carl Arrington for People Magazine, five years after she had filed for divorce from Ike Turner and had already recorded hits like “A Fool in Love”, “River Deep – Mountain High” and “Proud Mary.” In that interview, she would reveal that her supposedly healthy marriage was full of abuse and torture she had suffered during her marriage and how she made her escape after years of trauma, and the article would be the first of many that would paint her as a survivor.

WATCH

The film then shows how she spent years performing in Vegas before finally hitting it big again with her album “Private Dancer” and her No. 1 single “What’s Love Got To Do With It.” “Tina” shows how Turner continued to privately wrestle with her own survivor narrative even as she performed with superstars and in front of record crowds. It concludes with Turner taking a bow at the opening night of the Broadway musical about her life.

Others interviewed for the film include Angela Bassett, Oprah Winfrey, journalist Kurt Loder who co-authored “I, Tina,” playwright Katori Hall and husband and former record executive Erwin Bach, among many others.

#HipHopNews: 6ix9ine is Trolling Cardi B!

6ix9ine is back to trolling and no one is safe. Just days after reigniting his beef with Meek Mill and Lil Durk, the controversial rapper is coming for Cardi B. In an Instagram Story posted Wednesday (Feb. 24), Tekashi took a thinly-veiled shot at the “Up” rapper.

“If I took women to hotels, drugged them, and then robbed them, would I be canceled?” he asked his followers, while prompting them to respond “yes” or “no” via a poll.

His comments are a reference to Cardi’s confession from March 2019, where she claimed that she used to drug and rob clients who tried to pay her for sex when she worked as a stripper.

“I had to go strip, I had to go, ‘Oh yeah, you want to f**k me? Yeah, yeah, yeah, let’s go to this hotel,’ and I drugged ni**as up, and I robbed them. That’s what I used to do,” said Cardi while on Instagram Live. “Nothin’ was muthafu**in’ handed to me, my ni**a. Nothing!”

This is not the first time Tekashi has tried to start beef with Cardi. He famously named her as a member of the Bloods gang while testifying during his racketeering trial in September 2019. In exchange for cooperating with the feds, he was released from prison early.

Cardi has not responded to 6ix9ine’s latest comments. Meanwhile, he continues to feud with Meek Mill following their run-in in Atlanta earlier this month. Meek’s lawyers have threatened legal action after Tekashi included footage from their confrontation in his video for “ZAZA.”

Tiger Woods Suffers Shattered Tibia, Fibula; Rod, Screws, Pins Needed For Recovery!

LOS ANGELES – Tiger Woods crashed his SUV on sweeping, downhill road in the Los Angels suburbs Tuesday morning, and doctors tried to stabilize “significant” injuries to his right leg with rods and a combination of screws and pins.

Woods was driving to a television shoot when his SUV crashed into a median, rolled over and ended up on its side near a steep road known for wrecks, authorities said. Golf’s biggest star had to be pulled out through the windshield.

Woods’ foundation said in a statement he was awake, responsive and recovering in the hospital.

Dr. Anish Mahajan, the chief medical officer at Harbor-UCLA Medical Center, said Woods shattered the tibia and fibula bones of his lower right leg in multiple locations. Those injuries were stabilized with a rod in the tibia. Additional injuries to the bones in the foot and ankle required screws and pins, Mahajan said in a statement released on Woods’ Twitter account late Tuesday night.

The lengthy surgery also reduced swelling. Woods was awake and recovering in his hospital room, the statement said.

A resident near the accident site called 911. A Los Angeles County sheriff’s deputy, the first on the scene, poked his head through a hole in the windshield to see Woods, his seatbelt fastened, sitting in the driver’s seat.

The single-car crash was another setback for Woods, the preeminent golfer of his generation who has spent the last decade in a cycle of injuries, self-inflicted personal problems and an arrest for DUI. Each time, he returned to the course and won.

No charges were filed, police said there was no evidence he was impaired and no one else was injured.

It was the 10th surgery for Woods, who has suffered knee, back and neck problems for more than a decade.

Woods was in Los Angeles over the weekend as tournament host of the Genesis Invitational that ended Sunday, and then to film content for his sponsor, Discovery-owned GOLFTV. He was not playing while recovering from a fifth back surgery on Dec. 23.

Woods was alone in the SUV when it crashed into a raised median, crossed two oncoming lanes and rolled several times, authorities said at a news conference. Police said Woods was alert as firefighters pried open the front windshield to get him out.

Los Angeles County Sheriff Alex Villanueva said the airbags deployed and the inside of the SUV stayed mostly intact, which “gave him a cushion to survive the crash.”

There was no immediate evidence that Woods was impaired. Authorities said they checked for any odor of alcohol or other signs he was under the influence of a substance and found none. They didn’t say how fast he was driving.

“I will say that it’s very fortunate that Mr. Woods was able to come out of this alive,” Gonzalez said.

Thoughts and prayers have come from everywhere -- Jack Nicklaus and Michael Jordan, Mike Tyson, and former Presidents Barack Obama and Donald Trump, who has played golf with Woods and awarded him the Presidential Medal of Freedom in 2019.

Eddie Murphy Rejected Ryan Coogler’s Idea for ‘Coming to America’ Sequel with Michael B. Jordan!

"Coming 2 America" could've joined "Fruitvale Station," "Creed," and "Black Panther" as a Coogler-Jordan collaboration.

Ryan Coogler and Michael B. Jordan make up one of the best director-actor collaborations working today thanks to their critically acclaimed features “Fruitvale Station,” “Creed,” and “Black Panther,” but it turns out a potential fourth project was rejected by none other than Eddie Murphy. In an interview with The New York Times, Murphy reveals he rejected an idea for a “Coming to America” sequel cracked by Coogler.

“[Coogler] had an idea for Michael B. Jordan to play my son and he would be looking for a wife,” Murphy said. “I was like, then the movie would be about the son, it’s not our characters, we already did that. It didn’t come together.”

Neither Murphy nor anyone involved with the original “Coming to America” expected to make a sequel during the production and release of the movie. “The way the story ended was kind of like, ‘And they lived happily ever after,'” Murphy said. “Then all this time passed and the movie became this cult thing. Catchphrases from the movie start working their way into the culture. Stores turning themselves into McDowell’s [where Prince Akeem worked.] I see BeyoncΓ© and Jay-Z dressed up like the Zamunda characters for Halloween.”

The film’s enduring popularity changed Murphy’s mind about a sequel, but he was not interested in Coogler’s idea about building a “Coming to America” follow-up entirely around Murphy’s character’s son, even if the character was to be played by Michael B. Jordan. The official sequel, titled “Coming 2 America” stars Jermaine Fowler as the son, but the storyline centers around Murphy’s Akeem and Arsenio Hall’s Semmi instead. In the sequel, the two character venture to Queens to track down Akeem’s long lost son so they can groom him to be the new crown prince.

“Coming 2 America” is directed by Craig Brewer, who directed Murphy in the Netflix hit biographical comedy movie “Dolemite Is My Name.” The supporting cast includes Wesley Snipes (who also appeared in “Dolemite Is My Name”), Leslie Jones, Tracy Morgan, KiKi Layne, Shari Headley, Teyana Taylor, and James Earl Jones. Murphy originally wanted Morgan to play his son, only to realize Morgan was not the appropriate age. “Coming 2 America” begins streaming March 5 on Amazon Prime Video.

Daniel Kaluuya Reveals He Wasn’t Invited to ‘Get Out’ World Premiere!

*Daniel Kaluuya has revealed that he wasn’t invited to the “Get Out” world premiere.

The actor was shooting “Black Panther” at the time and cleared his schedule to attend the screening at the 2017 Sundance Film Festival — but he never received an invite despite being the star of the film. So he stayed in bed.

“They didn’t invite me. On the Sundance world premiere, I was in Atlanta because I was shooting ‘[Black] Panther.’ I was chilling, I cleared my schedule. I was like, ‘I really wanna do it.’ And then I just didn’t get the invite, man. I wasn’t invited,” Kaluuya said in a new interview with “Graham Norton Show.”

“So I was just in my bed – someone texted me, ‘it’s done really well,’ and I’m like, ‘alright, that’s cool,'” he continued.

Kaluuya said he has never mentioned the snub because he didn’t “want to be in a place where you don’t feel wanted.”

Norton suggested that “somebody f—ed up.”

Kaluuya has gone on to star in several acclaimed projects such as “Queen & Slim” and his new movie “Judas and the Black Messiah.” He previously admitted that after struggling to land roles in the UK due to his skin color, he made the move to America to find work – and it’s paying off.

The star opened up to The Sunday Times in a 2020 interview about the racism he faced from white producers back home.

“I was going for a lot of stuff [in England],” the 30-year-old said. “But I wasn’t getting roles because of the colour of my skin. It wasn’t fair. It was a trap.

“For example, I went up for this show. It was 10 rounds of auditions. There was me and a white guy for the lead. It was about aliens. And I realized as I was going to one audition that the other guy had been given an acting coach. They didn’t love me like they loved him.”

Kaluuya, who grew up in Kentish Town, London, also suggested that he is “confusing” to Americans who are not used to seeing Black British exports.

“There’s Brand Britain, so there’s an awareness that I’m British, but they don’t know me. I’m just seen as privileged because I have an English accent,” he said.

Lady Gaga's Dog Walker Shot, French Bulldogs Stolen In LA!

Lady Gaga's dog walker was shot and two of the singer's French bulldogs were stolen in Hollywood during an armed robbery, police said.

The dog walker was shot once Wednesday night and is expected to survive his injuries, according to Los Angeles Police Capt. Jonathan Tippett, commanding officer of the department's elite Robbery-Homicide Division. The man was walking three of Lady Gaga's dogs at the time but one escaped.

Tippett told The Associated Press that the dogs belong to pop star Lady Gaga. It's not yet clear if the dog walker was targeted because of his celebrity client, the captain said.

UPDATE One dog has been found!

Katharine Mcphee Gives Birth, Welcomes A Baby Boy With David Foster!

Katharine McPhee will now be singing lullabies to her new bundle of joy.

The 36-year-old performer has welcomed her first child, a baby boy, with husband David Foster, 71, her rep confirmed to Page Six on Wednesday.

“Mom, Dad and son are all doing wonderfully,” her rep told People in a statement.

McPhee, who has been married to Foster since June 2019, first fueled pregnancy speculation in October, when the “American Idol” alum was photographed showing off her baby bump. Sources later confirmed the pregnancy to People.

Grammy winner Foster has five grown daughters from previous relationships: Amy, Erin, Sara, Jordan, and Allison.

Foster and McPhee were first linked in 2017 and made their red carpet debut at the Met Gala a year later. In July 2018, the couple got engaged while vacationing on the Italian island of Capri.

“He did it at the top of this mountain in Anacapri,” McPhee posted to Instagram at the time.

“Totally dark only stars. Thankfully he didn’t push me off the cliff. He said it was one of the other and in the end he spared me,” she continued.

McPhee was previously married to Nick Cokas, while this is Foster’s fifth marriage. He was previously married to B.J. Cook, Rebecca Dyer, Linda Thompson, and most recently, Yolanda Hadid. The former “Real Housewives of Beverly Hills” star filed for divorce in January 2016.

Judge Judy Suffers Major Legal Loss in Court, May Have to Pay $4 Million to Charity!

Judge Judy Sheindlin may have to pay up $4 million to charity after a legal loss in Los Angeles Superior Court on Wednesday in the $22 million counterclaim suit against talent agent Richard Lawrence and Rebel Entertainment Partners, reports Deadline. The judge hearing Sheindlin's suit denied all three of her counterclaims for now, although the outlet reported an amended complaint is expected to be filed soon.

Rebel, Lawrence and his Abrams, Rubaloff & Lawrence firm initially hit Sheindlin last summer with a $5 million breach of contract suit, which stemmed from a $95 million sale of Judge Judy's library to CBS in 2017. On Aug. 19, Sheindlin and her attorneys Marty Singer and Todd Eagan filled her multimillion-dollar countersuit, and the famous TV judge promised to donate the $4 million she was expected to personally profit if her legal move was successful to a cancer charity. Sheindlin's legal team has 30 days to amend the countersuit after issuing the ruling on declaratory relief, unlawful/unfair business practices and unjust enrichment.

The lawyer representing Lawrence and Rebel, Freedman & Taitelman’s Bryan Freedman, told Deadline in a statement, "On August 19th, on behalf of Mr. Lawrence, we stated that Judy had no legal standing and her case would be dismissed. As the court made very clear today, that was a true statement. If Judy tries to continue with this case our client will seek sanctions and sue her for malicious prosecution. This was never a real lawsuit, only an attempt to insult an honorable man, and Judy knows that."

Sheindlin’s Lavely & Singer lawyers, Singer and Eagen, didn't think the legal battle was over just yet. "This is simply a procedural issue with the Court to clarify our claims by allowing us to file an amended Complaint," Eagan told the outlet. "The court declined to dismiss the claims, and in making its ruling today the court assumed that all of the facts pled in the complaint are true – and they are true. It is not disputed that Richard Lawrence received over $20 million in packaging fees even though he did not represent a package and has caused significant damage to Judy Sheindlin by his wrongful conduct."

Judge Judy is wrapping its syndicated run after 25 seasons, with Sheindlin announcing in October her upcoming show, Judy Justice, with Amazon Studios and IMDb TV.

‘The Bachelor’ Producers Working to Make ‘Appropriate Changes’ Amid Chris Harrison Racism!

Amid the ongoing racism controversy that is happening behind-the-scenes during Matt James' season of the reality show, an inside source says ABC is working to make "appropriate changes" to the franchise.

"A lot of work is being done behind the scenes to make the appropriate changes and proper moves going forward with the franchise," the source shared with People.

For those that don't know, Rachael received backlash after photos surfaced of her attending a plantation-themed party. People also discovered that she “liked” photos that featured friends posing in front of Confederate flags.

The Bachelor host Chris Harrison then gave an interview in which he defended her and he said some really terrible things, which led to him stepping away from the remainder of the season.

The source also added that, "there are talks happening regarding Chris Harrison and his future with the show."

Earlier this week, Matt finally broke his silence on Rachael and Chris' controversies while also talking about his experience as The Bachelor.

Bruce Springsteen's DWI Case Has Been Dismissed!

Two DWI-related charges against Bruce Springsteen have been dismissed after the music legend appeared before a court this week and pleaded guilty to a third lesser charge.

Springsteen pleaded guilty to a misdemeanor charge of "consuming an alcoholic beverage in a closed area," stemming from his November 14, 2020, arrest at New Jersey's Gateway National Recreation Area in Sandy Hook. He will have to pay a $540 fine.

The Rock and Roll Hall of Famer was reportedly riding his motorcycle through the park that afternoon when some fans recognized him and waved him over. After greeting the fans and taking some photos with them, Springsteen joined them for two shots of tequila and got back on his motorcycle to leave.

A park police officer witnessed the incident and pulled Springsteen over immediately on suspicion of DWI. Despite being cooperative with the officer and registering just a 0.02 blood alcohol content (BAC)— a quarter of New Jersey's 0.08 legal limit — Springsteen was arrested and charged with driving while intoxicated, reckless driving and consuming alcohol in a closed area.

Because the incident occurred on federal land, Springsteen answered the charges before a federal judge, Magistrate Judge Anthony Mautone.

Springsteen was fined $540 for the misdemeanor, with Judge Mautone noting that the singer-songwriter had no prior arrests and only three driving violations on his record since 1973.

News of the arrest only became public knowledge on February 10, a few days after Springsteen appeared in a Jeep ad during Super Bowl LV.

Springsteen has not spoken to the media about the case, but sources close to him were quick to downplay the severity of the incident after the news broke, noting his low BAC and the fact that he had no prior arrests.

New Poll Claims 1 In 6 “Generation Z” Adults Identify As Something Other Than Heterosexual

A new Gallup poll released today has determined that LGBT identification in the United States has increased over time.

According to CBS News, the poll’s results show that one in six adults in Generation Z (people born between 1997 and 2002) identify themselves as something other than heterosexual.

Nearly 16% of Generation Z adults surveyed who were between 18 and 23 in 2020 identify themselves as LGBT. Of those people who identify as LGBT, about 72% of them say they are bisexual.

If the data is to be believed, it means that about 11.5% of all Generation Z adults in the U.S. are bisexual.

The poll also revealed that among Millennials, 9.1% identify as LGBT. This group consists of individuals born between 1981 and 1996, with almost half of the millennials who identify as LGBTQ considering themselves bisexual.

In older groups like Generation X (those born between 1965-1980), Baby Boomers (those born between 1946-1964), and Traditionalists (those born before 1946) – the number of people who identify as LGBTQ vastly decreases, with 2% or less of Americans born before 1965 identifying themselves as LGBT.

It is important to note that Gallup only asked respondents if they identified as LGBT (lesbian, gay, bisexual, or transgender), which does not encompass any of the other identities within the LGBT community. Gallup did explain that 3.3% of respondents did not say they identified as LGBT but did identify with other non-heterosexual terms, such as queer or same-gender-loving.

The poll, which was based on 15,000 interviews taken last year among Americans 18 years and older, found that 5.6% of adults in the United States identify as LGBT.

DaBaby Sued For Allegedly Assaulting Property Owner During Video Shoot!

DaBaby is being sued by the owner of a Runyon Canyon, California vacation rental home.

On Monday (February 22), Gary Pagar filed a lawsuit against the 29-year-old rapper, alleging that DaBaby assaulted him and stole his phone when he attempted to shut down an unauthorized music video shoot at his rental home in December 2020.

Per Variety, Gary claims that DaBaby — whose legal name is Jonathan Kirk — rented the property on the condition that no more than 12 people would be on-site to keep in line with COVID-19 regulations. Additionally, the complaint states that the lease terms prohibited the property from being used for any commercial purpose. However, Gary alleges that DaBaby violated the terms of their lease agreement after he brought about 40 people to the home to shoot a music video.

Gary claims that when he went to the property to try to shut down the video shoot, he was knocked to the ground by an unknown assailant. He alleges that DaBaby then got out of a car, and chased him into the house. Gary additionally claims in the lawsuit that the "Beatbox" rapper warned him not to call the police, and then "sucker-punched him in the mouth, knocking out a tooth and leaving him bloody," Variety reported.

Gary, who is 64, also states in the lawsuit that he was spat on and that DaBaby's crew taunted him by tossing his phone back and forth.

“Mr. Kirk appears to think he’s a real tough guy,” the lawsuit reportedly states, per the outlet. “Mr. Kirk is wrong.”

According to the lawsuit, someone did eventually call the police, which led DaBaby and his associates to flee the scene. However, as they left, DaBaby and his guests allegedly took Gary's phone and “valuable kitchenware." The group also reportedly left behind thousands of dollars in damage— including a destroyed security camera — and haven’t paid the full rental bill.

Gary is also suing DaBaby's manager, Kinsza Virgil, in the lawsuit.

It’s unclear how much the property owner is seeking in damages.
