The Daily Buzz For June 26 ☕πŸ“°☕

Zayn Malik on the July 2018 Cover of GQ Magazine
Zayn Malik is gearing up to release a new album and he is also the July 2018 cover star of GQ magazine. On the cover which was shot by Sebastian Mader, Zayn is wearing a BOTTEGA VENETA FALL 2018 jacket, and a SSS WORLD CORP FALL 2018 shirt. In his interview, he talks Gigi Hadid, not wanting to be a star or in a group and so much more. Continue below to read some excepts from his interview and to see images from his fashion spread. For more on Zayn's feature, visit GQ.com and pick up a copy on newsstand.

On being a star:
I don't work well in group situations, with loads of people staring at me. And when you say 'star'…everyone wants you to be this kind of character that owns a room or is overly arrogant or confident. I'm not that guy," he says. So I don't want to be a star.
On the MET gala:
I did go, but I didn't go there to be like, 'Yo, take me serious. I was taking the piss! I went there as my favorite Mortal Kombat character, Jax. The Met Gala is not necessarily anything that I ever knew about or was about. But my [former] stylist…would say to me, 'This is really good for you to do.' And no matter how strong you are mentally, you can always be swayed to do certain things. Now, it's not something I would go to. I'd rather be sitting at my house, doing something productive, than dressing up in really expensive clothes and being photographed on a red carpet.… To do the self-indulgent Look at me, I'm amazing thing on the red carpet, it's not me.
On Gigi Hadid:
I'm really thankful that I met her. We go to the farm. We have horses. We're still really good friends, and we're still in contact. No bad blood.

#RHOA: Rickey Smiley: I AM NOT Dating Porsha Williams!
Fans can feel the chemistry that Rickey Smiley and Porsha Williams have from a TV screen or radio show away. The ‘RHOA’ star recently confirmed that she was very much taken. Unfortunately, the mystery man is not her co-worker.

The two work together on “Dish Nation.” Rickey has also appeared a few times on “Real Housewives of Atlanta” where he is quite the flirt while he admires her body.
That’s as far as it has gone if you ask the broadcast personality and he’s sick of blogs affecting his social life by linking him with the Bravo beauty.

Rickey recently referred to a report calling it a bold-faced lie while adding: “This is why I refuse to attend any events in Atlanta. Anything you do… anybody you take a picture with you’re in blogs! You’re either coupled up… if you take a picture with a man, now you are gay, take a picture with a woman and you with her, take a picture with a program director and you about to leave your station and go to his station; take a picture with a little person then you obsessed with little people.”
“Anybody you shake hands with you are in blogs. If you need real content just reach out and do a real interview. I will not go anywhere in Atlanta with this negative media. Blogs [are] trying to ruin your brand and reputation just because they are thirsty for content,” Smiley vented.

This wasn’t good news to shippers of the two reality stars.
It comes after Porsha has been flaunting her love with cryptic social media posts after confirming that she is seriously involved with someone.

Earlier this month, Williams spilled on how she found love when she least expected it.

#HipHopNews: Childish Gambino's Manager  says "This Is America" Plagiarism Claims is BULLSHIZZ!
Over the weekend, people on the internet started to notice that Childish Gambino’s wildly popular “This Is America” may have some creative overlap with another song from 2016. The song in question is Jase Harley’s “American Pharaoh.”

“American Pharaoh,” which is off Harley’s Free Pxrn: The Memoir Of An American Heathen album, shares similar elements with Gambino’s mega hit, including the chorus chanting, transitions between rapping and singing segments, flow, drum pattern, and subject matter.

As a result, people have been commenting on Harley’s latest Instagram post to give him props and see if he’ll take legal action. Harley has been replying, writing, “nah all artist get inspired by others.. artists being thirsty for bread is why ppl don’t wanna credit anyone for inspiration. It’s all love and support from me, glad if my record influenced his.”

He did mention he’d like a mention in some form or another (“lol word a shout out would be cool”) but he felt the inspiration was real from the start (“I always felt my song inspired it lol from the first time I heard it”). As of now, Harley isn’t credited in any form on “This Is America.”

Gambino’s manager Fam Udeorji took to Twitter to address the plagiarism claims, saying that “This Is America” has been in the works for three years and that he can prove it.

the Internet is a place of no consequences. I hate that Toronto Akademiks/every white blogger can say something as gospel and y'all take it. this song is 3 yrs old, and we have pro tools files to prove it. but fuck you and your moms, and your future fetuses. stay blessed. https://t.co/z7AyyWgrOz
— Fam Rothstein (@famlikefamily) June 25, 2018

Childish Gambino hasn’t released a statement himself on the matter.

Since being released on May 6, “This Is America” has gone platinum, hit almost 300 million YouTube plays, and reached #1 on the Billboard Hot 100.

Oh My? Heather Locklear Arrested for Attacking Cop and EMT, She Was ‘Heavily Intoxicated’
Heather Locklear was arrested again on Sunday night, this time for allegedly attacking a law enforcement officer and an EMT.
According to the Ventura County Sheriff’s Office, officers responded to a disturbance call (placed by one of Locklear’s family members) at her home at 11:05 PM. Upon arrival, officers found that Locklear was “heavily intoxicated” and arguing with another person.

When the deputy stepped in to intervene, Locklear struck the deputy (somewhere on the body, but not the face). The deputy was not injured but Locklear was immediately detained.
Paramedics were called to the scene to have Locklear checked out and as the EMT was examining her, Locklear allegedly kicked the EMT. She was then taken into custody and hauled off to jail.

Locklear was charged with two counts of Misdemeanor Battery Upon An Officer And Emergency Personnel.

She is currently being held on $20,000 bail.

Kanye West: I stand by Donald Trump and my Slavery Comments!
Kanye West opened up about his recent slavery comments, President Trump, mental health, his new music and more in a long interview with the New York Times‘ Jon Caramanica published Monday morning.

The interview, which was conducted in the days around West’s extravagant album-release party in Wyoming late last month, found West expressing many of the same viewpoints as in his controversial recent interviews but in a calmer context; Caramanica describes him as “calm, measured, verging on beatific, and also self-aware and willing to reckon with the challenges he’d created for himself.”

While West says he’s been learning to cope with his recently diagnosed bipolar disorder — he speaks of “learning how to not be on meds” and adds, “I took one pill in the last seven days” — at one point during the interview, he stops at a Wyoming clothing store and purchases a “mountain” of winter clothing that fills 13 trash bags (excessive spending is a common symptom of bipolar disorder).

Regarding his affection for the president, West speaks of a sort of underground network of support within the celebrity community.

“There were people who said Trump would never win,” he said. “I’m talking about the it-will-never-happens of the world, people in high school told you things would never happen. I felt that I knew people who voted for Trump that were celebrities that were scared to say that they liked him. But they told me, and I liked him, and I’m not scared to say what I like.”

He also spoke of feeling that supporting a liberal viewpoint was forced upon him. “Man, I had my [expletive] [expletive] castrated: ‘You have to like Hillary. That’s got to be your choice,'” he said. “Because you’re black, because you make very sensitive music, because you’re a very sensitive soul, it was like an arranged marriage or something.”

However, he also acknowledged that his support for the president does not extend to all of Trump’s policies, mentioning that when his father came to visit earlier this year, “He expressed that he felt that some of the policies were hurtful and that I’m a person that does not intend to hurt people, never hurts people with intention. I expressed the example that I have a cousin that’s locked up for doing something bad, and I still love him, so I don’t base my love for a person on if they doing something good or bad.

“I hear Trump talk and I’m like, I like the way it sounds, knowing that there’s people who like me that don’t like the way it sounds,” he continued. When asked if he always likes what he hears Trump saying, he said, “No, I don’t agree with all of his policies.”

West also attempted to clarify his comment to TMZ in which he said slavery was a “choice.”

“I said the idea of sitting in something for 400 years sounds — sounds — like a choice to me, I never said it’s a choice. I never said slavery itself — like being shackled in chains — was a choice,” he said. “That’s why I went from slave to 400 years to mental prison to this and that. If you look at the clip, you see the way my mind works,” suggesting that his statements are like his recent records, subject to constant revision, never completely finished.

“I think an extreme thing; I adjust it, I adjust it, I adjust it,” he explained. “That’s the way I get to it, but I have to push to, you know, the furthest concept possible … It’s literally like I feel like I’m in court having to justify a robbery that I didn’t actually commit, where I’m having to somehow reframe something that I never said. I feel stupid to have to say out loud that I know that being put on the boat was — but also I’m not backing down, bro. What I will do is I’ll take responsibility for the fact that I allowed my voice to be used back to back in ways that were not protective of it when my voice means too much.”

Car Plows Through Crowd Protesting Police Shooting of Antwon Rose, Striking Demonstrator
Police are searching for the driver of a vehicle who plowed through a crowd of protesters late Friday night as hundreds took to the streets to demand justice in the police shooting death of 17-year-old Antwon Rose.

It was the third day of intense protests over Rose’s killing by East Pittsburgh officer Michael Rosefeld, who was sworn in just hours before he fatally shot the unarmed teen on Tuesday. According to local station KDKA, hundreds of people spent the night marching and chanting at two separate demonstrations, including one that blocked the Homestead Grays Bridge.

The other protest unfolded near PNC Park, where the Pittsburgh Pirates were in the middle of the game.

“We cleared the bridge, but the some of the groups that came down 8th Avenue were still disorderly, so we attempted to clear 8th Avenue,” Allegheny County Police Supt. Coleman McDonough said. “At that time, I think we made four arrests for failure to disperse, at least one resisting arrest and potentially an assault arrest.”
At one point during the protest, a Black sedan drove into a line of demonstrators, sending fans and bystanders scrambling. Some protesters were seen chasing or throwing things at the vehicle as it fled. No injuries were reported from the incident.

Rose, 17, was shot three times by Rosefeld when he tried to flee a traffic stop last week. Police believed the car the teen was riding in was involved in a drive-by shooting minutes before.

Authorities are still investigating both shootings while local activists have called for homicide charges against the officer.

Carlos Lopez, Operation Repo Star, Dead from Apparent Suicide
Carlos Lopez Jr., a former reality star best known for his long-running role on TruTV's Operation Repo, was found dead Sunday night on the balcony of his Los Angeles apartment.

He was 35 years old. According to TMZ, Lopez's body was discovered by his roommate around 8 p.m.
The roommate then dialed 911 and paramedics eventually arrived at the residence... but it was too late. Lopez was announced dead at the scene.

The cause of death appears to be a simple, obvious and tragic one:

Lopez was found with what looked to be a self-inflicted gunshot wound to the head. In its report, TMZ also claims that he left behind a suicide note.
Lopez was an Army veteran who served 37 months in combat with the 82nd Airborne in the Army, per his IMDB page.

He appeared on Operation Repo from 2012 to 2014 and also enjoyed small roles on television shows such as iCarly and CSI: Cyber.
Most recently, he appeared as a CIA station chief in the Tom Cruise movie, American Made.
Based on a recent Facebook post, it also sounds as if Lopez will have a small part in the upcoming Transformers spinoff, Bumblebee.

Operation Repo, meanwhile, was the English-language version of the original Spanish reality program that aired on Telemundo.

Based out of California's San Fernando Valley, it chronicles a professional team that conducted repossessions for finance companies; it was canceled in 2014 following six years on the air.

Wrote Carlos' mother on Facebook not long after this awful news went public:
Our hearts are heavy. Our handsome adventurous and loving son Carlos Jr. Left is for Heaven yesterday and our hearts are so heavy. Keep our family and Carlos’s friend Ronnie Lee in your prayers please.
We’ve lost our eldest son and military warrior.

Lopez's death comes on the heels of other suicides in Hollywood.

Khloe Kardashian Fires Back At Reports Claiming She And Tristan Had A “Tense” Dinner
Khloe Kardashian, the reality star, and Revenge Body host, recently defended herself after an article from The Daily Mail claimed that she had a “tense” dinner with her philandering boyfriend, Tristan Thompson.
The British news outlet published several photographs of her and Tristan at dinner, with some of them showing the reality star yawning and looking disinterested.

The Keeping Up With The Kardashians star took to Twitter to write, “you make up anything!” The mother-of-one added she actually had a “great night.”

The mom of the baby, True, went on to say she was out for dinner for someone’s birthday and she’s a “new mom,” and is “TIRED AF!” The Revenge Body host added that being out past 10 pm is not her thing these days; she’s got other more important priorities.
You make up anything!! I actually had a great night. It was a large birthday dinner for friends and as a new mom IM TIRED AF!! Being out past 10pm is not where I’ll have the most energy these days.
The Kardashian sister described her daughter’s routine, as her baby goes to sleep around 8 pm usually. That means that she only gets approximately two hours to be by herself.
However, she would rather be with her baby anyway, the Kardashian-clan member responded. As the world knows, Khloe and Tristan had their first baby together earlier in the year.
It ended up being one of the scandalous births of all time, at least in Hollywood, anyway, because paparazzi photographed Tristan with several other women, including an Instagram model.

A plethora of Khloe’s fans took to social media to castigate the basketball player, but, most of their comments were merely weak insults, including statements like, “I hope every time you go to McDonald’s, you get the worst, coldest fries they possibly have.”

Nevertheless, it appears her devoted followers don’t really know the intricacies of her life. According to an insider who spoke with us previously, “Khloe and Tristan actually have an open relationship. It’s one of those situations where what you don’t know, doesn’t hurt you, as long as it’s not embarrassingly open, to the point where everyone knows.”

Surprise! Cardi B and Offset Have Reportedly Been Married for Months
They pulled a fast one on the entire internet, basically.
Hey, here's some fun news. It turns out Cardi B and her fiance Offset have actually been married for months. TMZ obtained a marriage license for the couple from Fulton County in Georgia that was filed in September of last year. SEPTEMBER. The names on the marriage license are Cardi B and Offset's given names, Belcalis Almanzar and Kiari Kendrell Cephus, FYI.

Last night at the BET awards, Offset (of the group Migos) made a comment about thanking "his wife" onstage while the group was accepting an award, which prompted people to wonder if they were already married.

But the weird thing is that the two got engaged very publicly in October, when Offset got down on one knee while the two were performing.
So the question becomes, was that all just for show? Per the marriage license, they would have already been married by this point.

Cardi B and Offset made their relationship official in February of 2017 after attending the Super Bowl together. She first shut down engagement rumors at the VMAs last August, when she told reporters, "It is not true!. I’m happy. Looking like I’m getting married. But I’m not there." At that point, they would have been less than a month away from getting hitched in Georgia. But then, the two got engaged "for real" in October.

And then, the rapper announced her pregnancy in the cutest way back in April when she was performing on SNL.
SO, there's the brief history of this situation. The couple themselves have not confirmed whether they are married or not, so stay tuned for more details on the greatest hijinx of all time.

Pawn Stars' Richard Harrison, aka The Old Man, Dead at 77

President Trump Makes Veiled Threat Against Congressman Maxine Waters of California
After a morning spent cyber-bullying small, rural eateries, President Trump tweeted a thinly veiled threat against California congresswoman Maxine Waters, calling her an “extraordinarily low IQ person” and hinting at potential violence from his supporters.

The president’s tweet appears to be refer to Waters’s remarks over the weekend, when she urged her supporters to harass members of the Trump administration they see in public.

“If you see anybody from that Cabinet in a restaurant, in a department store, at a gasoline station, you get out and you create a crowd and you push back on them, and you tell them they’re not welcome anymore, anywhere,” Waters told the assembled crowd at a rally in Los Angeles on Saturday.

In her speech, Waters did not call for supporters to inflict physical harm upon administration officials, or for them to harass Trump supporters (as opposed to the president, who has repeatedly encouraged violence against his opponents). But her comments have been widely denounced, including by her own party’s leadership, with House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi calling them “unacceptable.”
Waters’s comments came after several officials were heckled or asked leave restaurants because of their work within the administration. Last week, while having dinner at a Mexican restaurant in Washington, D.C., Department of Homeland Security secretary Kirstjen Nielsen was booed by a large crowd for her role in the administration’s inhumane family-separation policy. A few days earlier, White House senior adviser Stephen Miller was reportedly called a “fascist” while he dined at another Mexican restaurant. And Friday, the owner of the Red Hen restaurant in Lexington, Virginia, asked White House press secretary Sarah Huckabee Sanders to leave her establishment.

Some have speculated that Waters will need to be assigned a security detail as a result of President Trump’s tweet. Her vocal opposition of the president (she boycotted his inauguration, and has called for his impeachment) has made her a target before. Back in April, a 45-year-old man named Anthony Scott Lloyd pleaded guilty to threatening to kill the congresswoman after hearing her make disparaging comments about President Trump.

“If you continue to make threats toward the president, you’re going to wind up dead, Maxine, ‘cause we’ll kill you,” Lloyd said in a voicemail he left at Waters’s Capitol Hill office.

Tamar Braxton & Estranged Husband Vince Herbert List Calabasas Mansion for $14 Million
Tamar Braxton and her estranged husband Vincent Herbert are continuing to try and unload their Calabasas mansion. The pair have listed the property for $14 million, giving it a second try after failing to find a buyer for several months.

On June 7, Tamar and Vince re-listed their home for $14,995,000 and then days later knocked the price down by a million to $13,995,000.

The 7-bedroom, 9-bathroom, 15,016 sq. ft. is located in an exclusive gated community featuring a 2 story entry, grand living room, recording studio, large family room opens into gourmet chefs kitchen, custom pool, 15-car-garage, game room, gym, wine cellar, barber shop, glam room and a media room.
They purchased the home for $10.5 million back in 2013. They would put it on the market in October for $15 million, but decided to take it off after finding no buyers earlier this year.
Tamar filed for divorce in October but there has been no movement in the case since then and Vince has yet to file a response.

Mary J. Blige To Star In New Horror Thriller ‘Body Cam’
Grammy-winning singer and Oscar nominated actress Mary J. Blige will star in a new horror thriller titled Body Cam.
According to THR, Body Cam focuses on several LAPD police officers who are haunted by a malevolent spirit that is tied to the murder of a black youth at the hands of two white cops, all of which are caught on a body cam video that was destroyed in a cover-up.

Blige will play an officer who becomes rocked by visions and begins to investigate the cover-up. The film is also being described as a blend of Get Out and End of Watch.

In addition to Body Cam, Blige is also starring as Cha Cha in Netflix’s The Umbrella Company.

‘White Civil Rights’ Rally Coming To Dc This Summer After Getting Permission
On the first-year anniversary of the deadly Unite the Right white supremacist rally in Charlottesville, Va., history is set to repeat itself, with hundreds of people expected to gather in the nation’s capital for a White Civil Rights rally.

According to local news reports in DMV, the National Park Service has approved an application for a White Civil Rights rally. The permit for the rally, however, has still not been issued.
The rally, to be held outside the White House at Lafayette Square, is being planned by Jason Kessler, who organized the Unite the Right rally last year to protest the removal of Confederate statues in cities. That event quickly turned violent, resulting in the death of 32-year-old counterprotester Heather Heyer. Several other counterprotesters standing up against racism and white supremacy were also injured.

The application that NPS signed off on indicates that the event will take place Aug. 11 and 12.

“This year we have a new purpose,” Kessler said, according to reporters. “That’s to talk about the civil rights abuse that happened in Charlottesville, Virginia, last year.
