Cissy Houston To Pen A Memoir About Her Daughter’s Whitney Houston Life

Whitney Houston’s triumphant, heartbreaking life is being remembered in a book by her mother, singer Cissy Houston. The deal with HarperCollins for a memoir it says will reveal the “unabridged and unbelievable story” of her Grammy Award-winning daughter, who died in a Beverly Hills, Calif., hotel bathtub in February at age 48. HarperCollins announced Monday that the currently untitled book is scheduled to come out next February. Financial terms haven’t been disclosed, but a portion of the proceeds will be donated to the New Hope Baptist Church in Newark, N.J., where Whitney Houston, sang as a child and where her funeral was held. The book deal could be worth seven figures.

“When I lost my daughter Nippy, the world lost one of the most beautiful voices and an extraordinarily beautiful and charitable woman,” Cissy Houston said in a statement released by HarperCollins. “In sharing our story in this book, I hope to give her fans something to treasure, the way we all treasured Whitney. We are still receiving thousands of letters each day from her fans, and I hope reading this book will provide a deeper understanding into my daughter’s true story.”

According to HarperCollins, Cissy Houston will write with “candor, honesty and respect” about her daughter’s remarkable career and about her drug problems and her marriage to Bobby Brown. Cissy Houston also will reflect on her own grief.

“Ultimately, Cissy will go behind the headlines to show the true, human side of this strong, successful yet complicated musical icon, capturing the dramatic depths and soaring range of an extraordinary woman, along with the pain and heartbreak of a grieving mother as she struggles with impossible loss.”

Jacksons Family Unity Tour First Two Dates Canceled….Uh Oh!!

The Jacksons are abandoning the first two dates of their upcoming Unity Tour 2012. The outing was to kick off on June 18th in Louisville, Kentucky followed by a show in Cincinnati, Ohio on June 19th but both dates have been scrapped. The Jacksons are citing “scheduling conflicts” as reason for the cancellations. But a source tells TMZ the brothers want to wrap up their studio album before they take their show on the road. The outing is now scheduled to kick off June 20th in Rama, Ontario in Canada. Jackie, Jermaine, Marlon and Tito announced their plans to tour back in April.

The trek will mark their first tour together since they hit the road with Michael back in 1984 in support of their “Victory” album.

Aretha Franklin RECEIVES Honorary Doctorate From Princeton University

Music legend Aretha Franklin added another prestigious award to her long list of accolades as she received an honorary doctorate from Princeton University.The Queen of Soul was one of just six people who received honorary doctorates from Princeton University.
Ms. Franklin was all smiles as she accepted a doctor of music from the university. University orator and trustee Stephen Oxman said Ms. Franklin had an 'impeccably bold and fearless' performance style, which took listeners on a 'journey to the depths of her soul.'

He added:With her singular Amazing Grace, she continues to traverse musical bridges over troubled water and by reminding us to think,do right, and call on her,The Queen of Soul will forever command the world's R-E-S-P-E-C-T

She may not be getting married anytime soon, but she's got more prestige in her pocket. Congrats!

Bow Wow Not Feeling Ciara New Song “Sweat” : Did She Steal His Song Title?

Update Below: Bow Wow found himself explaining to Ciara, he’s not feeling her new music. Sources say Bow Wow followed Ciara last week on Twitter and sent a follow up Tweet to her.

Ciara premiered her first single “Sweat” on Twitter to her fans. Which led ex-boyfriend Bow Wow to unfollow her, due to having the same “Sweat” song title as him. He then retweeted a tweet saying the following, “@ciara sooooo bow wow latest single was called sweat to…..oh??“ Bow and Lil Wayne dropped their original song Sweat 3 months ago.

The rapper then took Facebook to express his feelings.

Perhaps Bow Wow can’t get Ciara “Outta” His System? The couple broke up in 2006. LOL

“Ciara did not know he had a song with the same name “Sweat”, and by the time the producers found out it was to late. It takes weeks to make things happen when you deal with major labels, nothing is ever done overnight and who sit’s around trying to find out if the song name is taken. No one, that’s companies like B.M.I. and other music publishing companies JOB. I don’t think CiCi would ever do that! Its crazy how people catch feeling’s instead of coming to the source. If people would stop putting all this free music out, where they take producers music and post it on the internet hoping it will be a hit, never paying for the publishing, or even paying the producers I.E., or doing stuff the correct way. Not saying I am feeling the song, cause I’m not, but at the end she didn’t know. Help don’t hurt, she’s dealing with a lot. He’s just mad she passed on performing with him last year get over it”

Stacy Francis addresses Whitney Houston rumors

The 'X-Factor' star still isn't sure what exactly happened between her and Whitney

While Stacy Francis should be high off life celebrating the release of her new single, she’s still battling the dark cloud that was her altercation with idol Whitney Houston right before her death. 

She spoke to Sister 2 Sister mag.
“It’s something I don’t need to really discuss anymore. I don’t want to stir up her fans; we need to let her rest.”

Stacy told S2S that she understands Whitney’s death is still new to her fans, and she just wants to be able to move on from the incident, which she calls a misunderstanding. While the media has reported many versions of the story, including one that had Stacy stalking Whitney and pushing up on her alleged beau Ray J, Stacy contends that no one will really ever know what went down.

“I am an old family friend of Ray J and have known him for 15 years. Ray J came in and hugged me and it became a misunderstanding,” she explained to S2S.

But how is Ray J coping with the loss of his good friend Whitney? “Ray J and I have spoken and I wanted to make sure he was OK,” Stacy said. “He’s a very strong man, a good guy and his relationship with God has gotten stronger since.”

But even with the stress of losing an idol and dealing with the aftermath of the altercation, Stacy has been busy in the studio recording her debut album. Her new single, a cover of Prince’s “Purple Rain,” has been heating up the charts since it was released on iTunes in May.
“I have this gift that I really want to share with this world,” Stacy told S2S. “No one will really understand what happened and I just hope that I don’t have to talk about it the rest of my career. Whitney told me God is a God of second chances.”

Nicki Minaj's Second Album Goes Gold

Nicki Minaj can add another plaque to her collection. The rapper's sophomore effort, Pink Friday: Roman Reloaded has been certified gold, selling a total of 508,000 units since its April release.

Minaj has been at the center of a musical firestorm, after she was dissed by Hot 97 radio personality, Peter Rosenberg, just before she was scheduled to headline their Summer Jam show.
In a phone conversation with Funkmaster Flex earlier this week, Minaj defended her success. “I want you to listen to these statistics: my first album [Pink Friday] sold 375 000 copies in its first week. My second album [Pink Friday: Roman Reloaded] sold 350,000 copies worldwide, in first week,” she said in response to Flex's Twitter quip that she was upset over low record sales. “My first album has gone on to sell 2.5 million records,‘Super Bass' sold 4 million singles. My second album is at 900,000 worldwide, plus a 3 million-seller single. Now if you don't know, call Universal [Records] and they'll tell you that selling 3 million singles is the equivalent of selling 300,000 albums, so do the math. That's 1.2 million on my second album. Even without the single, I've sold 3.5 million albums in two years.”

Actress Stacey Dash Writes A “How To” Book About Herself

I may speak for myself when I say, I certainly miss seeing actress Stacey Dash’s stunning face on VH1′s “Single Ladies”. Since her sudden departure (well, maybe not so sudden), she’s kept a pretty low key profile. But it appears that she’s been busy penning a book. And not just any book. It’s sorta like a “how to” book, but “how to” kinda be like her.

Sounds worse than it probably is.

Peep her explanation below:

I’m writing a “How To” book.
It’ll be about me, my daily ritual and what I do every day to be Stacey Dash. It’ll be about what I’ve done in the past, the mistakes I’ve made and the lessons I’ve learned. The mistakes that I continue to make that drive me to moments of madness. I want to share what I’m going through in real-time to correct, reconcile and reinvent. You see I’m on a quest to live in love and joy come hell or high water. So, I’ll be writing about my future and how I’m moving forward in life using the knowledge I’ve gained from my past and wisdom I’m finding now. Also, I want to teach women and girls how to take care of themselves…and most importantly, how to love themselves. I believe that… is truly what is most important in life. In the process of writing, I’m hopeful that while I’m teaching you I’ll also be teaching myself…

Reynolds is renting a room in Shepherd’s Upper West Side townhouse while he’s in New York working on a financial project. He usually lives in Miami, where he has an apartment in the same building as Evelyn Lozada from “Basketball Wives.” Sources say the ex-spouse of former “View” co-host Jones, who was fired from the show in 2006, has been running around town “telling everyone he lives in a beautiful townhouse on the West Side” — which is true, but it’s owned by Shepherd.
