OH CANADA! The Canadian Football League welcomes Michael Sam!

Michael Sam is taking his football dreams to Canada and has joined The CFL!

The Montreal Alouettes have signed the defensive end, and Sam will participate in their upcoming training camp, one of his agents, Joe Barkett, said in press releases.

Like most Canadian Football League rookies, Sam received a one-year deal with a team option for 2016, though it’s not uncommon for teams to let players out of the option year to pursue an NFL job if they have the opportunity.

The Alouettes confirmed the deal Friday morning on their website. Sam will be introduced at a media conference Tuesday in Montreal.

“I am very excited and proud to join the Montreal Alouettes and want to thank team Owner Robert Wetenhall, General Manager Jim Popp and Head Coach Tom Higgins for this opportunity,” Sam said in a statement through the team. “I cannot wait to put on the pads, get back on the field and work hard each and every day with my teammates to bring a Grey Cup to the great fans here in Montreal.”

The contract is scheduled to pay Sam $100,000 in 2015 – nearly double the CFL minimum of $51,000, and about the same as he’d make if he were on an NFL practice squad for the entire season. The option year is worth $150,000.

The Alouettes’ first preseason game is June 13. The 18-game regular season schedule begins at home against the Ottawa Redblacks on June 25 and concludes Nov. 8

Sam, 25, became the first openly gay player drafted by an NFL team when the St. Louis Rams selected him in the seventh round last year. But the Rams waived Sam in the final round of cuts, and the Dallas Cowboys released him from their practice squad in October.

The Alouettes owned Sam’s CFL rights and have had the one-year deal on the table for him for months. His decision to head north of the border follows his participation in the NFL’s veteran combine in March, though it didn’t yield a contract offer.

“With the signing of Michael Sam, we have become a better organization today,” Alouettes general manager Jim Popp said in a statement. “Not only have we added an outstanding football player, we have added even a better person that brings dignity, character, and heart to our team.”

Sam was credited with three sacks in the 2014 preseason with the Rams. He had 11½ sacks and 19 tackles for loss as a fifth-year senior at Missouri in 2013 and was named co-Southeastern Conference defensive player of the year.

Most recently, Sam was a contestant on the ABC show Dancing With the Stars, from which he and partner Peta Murgatroyd were eliminated on the season’s fourth episode.

The Philadelphia Eagles Officially Sign Demarco Murray!

Well here's some good news Philadelphia! Hours after arriving in Philadelphia, the Eagles have officially signed running back DeMarco Murray to a five-year deal. Chip Kelly said the Eagles were always looking to add two running backs to replace LeSean McCoy and once Frank Gore signed with the Colts yesterday, Kelly reached out to Murray who they thought would be out of their price range when free agency started. 

Kelly also added that he still plans to retain restricted free agent running back Chris Polk.

Well here's something that has made me a little satisfied. 

With all the other changes Chip Kelly is dong I'm confused!

Earlier this week the OWN network announced their plans to produce a reality show about the NFL's first openly gay player St. Louis Rams Michael Sam.

Ummmmm, Not so fast Children!

Apparently The Rams weren't too thrilled about the project and after meetings with OWN the reality show has been postponed indefinitely.

The president of OWN released the following statement,

'After careful consideration and discussion with the St. Louis Rams, "The Untitled Michael Sam Project" has been postponed, allowing Michael the best opportunity to achieve his dream of making the team.'

Honestly I think it’s a Good Thing. What do you think?

Mike Vick took over the Cover of UPTOWN Magazine and gave them a interview of all interviews check it out below.
The Michael Vick story has all the elements that makes an American Dream classic. With his new multi-million dollar contracts, Vick is successfully reinventing himself on and off the field. Will a Super Bowl win be his ultimate triumph?

“I never thought this day would come,” Vick said.

“[Two years ago], I was happy just to be on a team. When I was in prison, I prayed for another opportunity. And when I signed with the Eagles, that opportunity had come. I was ecstatic at that point, and I’m even happier now.”
“I play the game the way I know how to play it,” Vick tells UPTOWN, after the magazine spent months trying to negotiate an interview. He’s understandably cautious about whom he talks to and what he says.
“You have to take precautions, but this is what I love to do. I want to be there for my team and do what I have to do as a quarterback to be successful.”

Despite the vocal detractors, Eagles fans wasted no time embracing their new quarterback, albeit third-string, showering him with cheers in his first preseason game. It seemed that no matter how anyone felt about dogs or out-of-control rich athletes, all of that ended—or was at least compartmentalized—as soon as Vick stepped onto the field.

“It was awesome. When I was running out onto the field I was listening to see what the reaction was going to be, I was very pleased,” Vick said about his return. “I really didn’t expect that reaction, but I was very thankful.”

“I am determined to become a better student of the game and I knew I had to work at it,” says Vick. “I was young when I was in Atlanta. I’m older now. I’ve been through a lot and I think I’ve matured. I had some good years there, but I’m just so thankful to be in Philadelphia right now. I could not have landed in a better city. This is my home. This is where I want to be, and I take this opportunity seriously.”
