She Reflects on Dating, Self Love, and Survivor’s Guilt "I understand that I'm very lucky," Cox tells "Self" magazine.
In a powerful new interview with Self, Laverne Cox opens up about her experiences as a trans woman and the “survivor’s guilt” she felt as her star began to rise while many trans women suffer.
“I understand that I’m very lucky,” Cox says of her success as a trans woman in the entertainment industry while reports show rates of murder, suicide, unemployment, and housing discrimination continue to rise in the trans community. “I understand that I’ve been chosen. It makes me sad…it’s very intense.”
Cox says she tries to minimize her feelings of “survivor’s guilt” by remembering that she should be proud of her achievements and being mindful her consumption and spending.
“I think there’s a difference between materialism and wanting to live comfortably,” Cox says. “That’s what I have to be really careful with, right? That I’m not just like conspicuously consuming and being materialistic.”
The Orange is the New Black star also opened about the criticism she faces for dating a white man.
“It’s rough out there when you’re a black woman,” Cox says, citing OkCupid dating statistics highlighting men on the site rate black women as less attractive than other races. “And then you add being trans to that, girl, you can’t be limited. I don’t think you should limit yourself. I’m going where it’s warm and I’m going where there’s a connection. That’s not about race…I can’t live my life for other people.”

#RHoA: Kenya Moore Shares a "First Look" at Her Baby — See the 3-D Visual
Kenya Moore is getting closer and closer to the day she finally welcomes her first child with husband Marc Daly. But we don't have to wait until Kenya's due date to get a glimpse at her little one. The Real Housewives of Atlanta alum just shared a "first look" at #BabyDaly on Instagram.
Kenya posted a new 3D image of her child from an ultrasound, and you can actually make out the baby's face! In fact, the picture of her child is so clear, Kenya thinks she sees a striking resemblance to her husband. "OMG the baby has daddy's lips and nose!" she gushed in the post.
In case you need visual proof, Kenya has also provided a side-by-side comparison of the 3D image of her baby from the ultrasound and a closeup of Marc's lips. Scroll to the right in the above Instagram photo to see for yourself.
Kenya has kept fans updated on her road to motherhood since she announced her pregnancy at the RHOA Season 10 reunion earlier this year including her previous emotional ultrasound visits.
These days, the RHOA alum has been busy prepping for her baby shower. In case you still need to figure out something to get #BabyDaly, Kenya's baby registry is also live.
Kenya and Marc are expected to welcome their child on November 22, according to their baby registry. Kenya has previously said that she and Marc are waiting until the baby is born to find out the gender. "We want it to be a surprise," she shared in her Instagram Story earlier this month.

#Empire' Star Jussie Smollett Gives Amputee Boy Handicapped-Accessible Van
This tearjerker comes courtesy of "Empire" star Jussie Smollett, who just made life a little easier for a double amputee -- and if crying's your thing ... grab some tissues.
Jussie -- who plays Cookie and Lucious Lyon's son, Jamal, on "Empire" -- met up with 6-year-old Kayden Kinckle to deliver a handicapped-accessible van ... but first, he met Kayden's fam at a hotel, setting up the big surprise.
The reveal did not disappoint -- the look on Kayden's face when he sees the van is kinda everything. Kayden got a quick lesson on how to work his new ramp, prompting Jussie to say, "It's gonna be just like a chariot for the Pharaoh."
The timing of the gift couldn't come at a better time ... we're told Kayden's about to get new legs and the van will help him and his family get around.
Kayden and Jussie have a history, he brought Kayden with him to the NBA Awards last year and he helped promote Kayden's mom's book, "Stepping Out on Faith: The Kayden Kinckle Story. A Mother's Journey."

#HipHopNews: Quavo Says Migos' "Culture III" Will Drop In Early 2019
LOS ANGELES, CA – Quavo is fresh off the release his solo debut Quavo Huncho, yet he’s already plotting his new move. In a new interview with the Associated Press, the busy artist revealed he and his Migos brethren already have a timeframe for their next album.
“We’ll be at the top of 2019,” Quavo said. “We’re going to hit them with Culture III.”
In addition to a third Culture album, the other Migos members will be releasing their own solo projects sooner than later.
“I don’t know the exact dates,” Quavo said of his fellow Migos’ solo albums. “But Takeoff will be next and (then) Offset will come.”
Quavo also noted his solo album made him scale back on his spree of guest verses. Until he’s done with the Quavo Huncho campaign, fans likely won’t hear many features from him.
“Right now, I’m just going to chill and work my album and calm down on features,” he said. “I just want to tuck away and go into kill mode with this album. …I’ve turned down projects all the time. Not on some disrespectful-type (stuff), but I don’t want to oversaturate my sound.”
Rihanna & Puma Reportedly Being Sued For Copyright Infringement
LOS ANGELES, CA – Rihanna and Puma are reportedly facing some legal trouble. According to court documents obtained by TMZ, Freedom United Clothing is suing the platinum-selling singer for copyright infringement.
Freedom United claims RiRi ripped off their “FU” logo for her Fenty University merch. On the company’s website, it says they filed the registration for the trademark in 2006 and renewed it in 2014.

Freedom United also says RiRi — Puma’s creative director and brand ambassador — was aware of an existing FU logo because she was photographed in one of their hoodies in 2014. In 2007, her ex-boyfriend Chris Brown showed up at Freedom United’s launch party.
The company fired off a cease and desist letter back in January. Puma responded with a letter of its own and insisted the Fenty University logo wasn’t a rip-off because it’s written in a different font. Puma added FU is not a unique trademark.
Freedom United is suing PUMA for an order prohibiting future sales and damages.
Mariah Carey Announces New Album Release Date
Mariah Carey has revealed the title and release date for her new record: Caution is out November 16 (via Butterfly MC Records/Epic Records).
Caution is set to include Carey’s new tracks “GTFO” and “With You.” The LP follows her 2014 album Me. I Am Mariah…the Elusive Chanteuse.
#OMG! Mel B Accused Of Punching Male Model
Mel B is reportedly being investigated by police after being accused of hitting a male model twice in the chest after a fashion show, reports TMZ.
According to the website, the model, named as Dujuan Thomas, filed a report with the LAPD on Sunday after claiming the former Spice Girl, 43, hit him in the chest following a hotel fashion show they attended on Saturday.
Dujuan allegedly ran into Mel backstage and asked for a photo with her, which she agreed to. It was reported that Dujuan did not like the photo and asked for another, at which point it was claimed Mel allegedly hit him in the chest with her right hand.
The website also reports Dujuan told police he encountered Mel again later in the evening at the same hotel.
It was claimed when she recognised him, she allegedly hit him again in the chest.
The model was not thought to have reported any injuries.
Photos obtained by TMZ reportedly show Dujuan on the runway and Mel in the audience, with another showing the model and Mel posing together.
A video is also said to show Dujuan walking behind the America's Got Talent judge and recording a woman, said to be Mel, as she chats to pals, before she turns around and the video cuts out.
The footage does not actually show Mel B's face. The case is said to be under investigation, with the website claiming it will eventually filter through to the LA City Attorney, who will determine further action.
Mel B is gearing up for the release of her new book, Brutally Honest, on November 27.

According to reports Diddy and his longtime girlfriend Cassie have officially called it quits.
While the music mogul has been spotted with 26 year-old-model Jocelyn Crawford, Cassie’s rep confirms that what the couple once had is OVER.
In a statement tthe rep stated: “They are indeed no longer together and haven’t been for months.”
It looks like folks did some digging on Diddy’s new lady, and similar to Cassie, she is a model too!

#RHONY: Bethenny Frankel and New Boyfriend Paul Bernon Step Out Together in New York City
Bethenny Frankel and her new boyfriend Paul Bernon were photographed together in New York City on Tuesday.
Following what appeared to be a romantic visit to Boston, Massachusetts, where Paul resides, the Real Housewives of New York City cast member returned to her hometown, where she and Paul, 41, were seen staying close to one another as they enjoyed a meal.
Bethenny and Paul, a film producer, were first spotted together in Boston on October 7, where they were caught walking hand-in-hand down the street. Then, just one day later, the rumored pair was seen sharing a kiss near Boston College.
In addition to producing films, Paul is a co-founder and partner of Burn Later Productions and is also a managing partner at Rubicon Real Estate, LLC.
As fans will recall, Bethenny suffered the tragic loss of her late boyfriend, Dennis Shields, to a reported drug overdose in August of this year after a two-year relationship.
Prior to her romance with Dennis, Bethenny enjoyed a number of short-lived relationships after splitting from ex-husband Jason Hoppy, the father of her eight-year-old daughter Bryn.
The Real Housewives of New York City is currently in production and expected to return to Bravo TV sometime next year for season 11.

Netflix’s Emmy-winning women’s-prison dramedy Orange Is the New Black will end with the upcoming seventh season.
Created by Jenji Kohan, based on Piper Kerman’s memoir Orange Is the New Black: My Year in a Women’s Prison, the series has received widespread acclaim since its 2013 premiere, becoming Netflix’s most-watched original series. For its first season, the series earned 12 Primetime Emmy nominations including Outstanding Comedy Series, Outstanding Writing for a Comedy Series, and Outstanding Directing for a Comedy Series, winning three. It went on to earn an additional four Emmy noms in Season 2, including Outstanding Drama Series, and win for Uzo Aduba for Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Drama Series.
It is the first series to score Emmy nominations in both comedy and drama categories. The series also has received six Golden Globe Award nominations, six Writers Guild of America Award nominations, a Producers Guild of America Award, an American Film Institute award, and a Peabody Award.
The series had received a three-season renewal ahead of its Season 4 premiere in 2016. As part of the deal, creator and showrunner Kohan will stay on through Season 7.

Idris Elba is in final negotiations to join the cast of the Cats musical film adaptation alongside Jennifer Hudson, Taylor Swift and James Corden.
Via THR: Cats tells the story of a tribe of felines called the Jellicles and the night they make what is known as “the Jellicle choice” and decide which cat will ascend to the Heaviside Layer and come back to a new life. Elba would play Macavity, a master criminal.
In addition to this project, Idris has been booked and busy with the Fast and Furious spinoff, Hobbs and Shaw, and his Netflix comedy series, “Turn Up Charlie.”

The debut marked the first time that a film from the New York Film Festival played at the historic Apollo Theater. Following a Q&A in the packed theater, the cast made their way to Chef Marcus Samuelsson’s Harlem hotspot Red Rooster to celebrate.
Set in early-1970s Harlem, If Beale Street Could Talk is a timeless and moving love story of both a couple’s unbreakable bond and the African-American family’s empowering embrace, as told through the eyes of 19-year-old Tish Rivers (screen newcomer KiKi Layne). A daughter and wife-to-be, Tish vividly recalls the passion, respect and trust that have connected her and her artist fiancé Alonzo Hunt, who goes by the nickname Fonny (Stephan James). Friends since childhood, the devoted couple dream of a future together but their plans are derailed when Fonny is arrested for a crime he did not commit.
The film also features Regina King, Colman Domingo, Teyonah Parris, Brian Tyree Henry, Aunjanue L. Ellis, Michael Beach, Ed Skrein, Diego Luna, Dave Franco, and Pedro Pascal. Oscar winner Barry Jenkins serves as the project’s director.

Georgia County Orders Elderly Black Voters Off Bus Taking Them To The Polls

Dozens of black senior citizens in rural Georgia were ordered off a bus bound for the polls after county officials said the event constituted prohibited “political activity.”
A Jefferson County clerk reportedly told staff members from the Leisure Center in Louisville on Monday ― the first day of in-person early voting in Georgia ― that roughly 40 black people couldn’t take part in the trip after receiving a complaint from an unnamed caller.
The trip had been organized by the nonpartisan Black Voters Matter, which is embarking on a bus tour across severn southern states with the goal of urging black people to vote. The caller said the bus, which was painted with the words “The South is Rising Tour,” should not be allowed to bring people to the polls, reported The Atlanta Journal-Constitution.
Jefferson County Administrator Adam Brett said the trip, set to depart from a county-run senior center, was political and therefore violated guidelines imposed on county-sponsored events, the AJC reported. Although Black Voters Matter is a nonpartisan organization, Jefferson County Democratic Party Chairwoman Diane Evans helped organize the event.
Officials “felt uncomfortable with allowing senior center patrons to leave the facility in a bus with an unknown third party,” Brett told the AJC. “No seniors at the Jefferson County senior center were denied their right to vote.”
A representative for the Jefferson County Board of Commissioners did not immediately respond to request for comment.
But Black Voters Matter co-founder LaTosha Brown pushed back on Brett’s reasoning for ending the trip.
“We knew it was an intimidation tactic,” Brown told the AJC. “It was really unnecessary. These are grown people.”
The hopeful voters were initially told by the senior center’s staffers that they could ride in a county van to cast their ballots but were then instructed to go inside for lunch and vote another day, according to Brown.
A video posted to Black Voters Matter’s Twitter page shows the senior citizens dancing and cheering before boarding the bus.
“What happened was a real issue,” Brown says in the video. “But it ain’t going to stop us. Can’t stop, won’t stop.”
Georgia is home to one of the most contentious gubernatorial races in the country. Accusations of voter suppression have swirled as Democrat Stacey Abrams, Georgia’s first black female nominee for governor, faces off against the state’s Republican secretary of state, Brian Kemp.
The Associated Press reported last week that over 53,000 voter applications ― nearly 70 percent of which were from black applicants ― were on hold with Kemp’s office.
Kylie & Caitlyn Jenner Might Be Feuding Over the Same Skin-Care Line Name
When Kim Kardashian launched KKW Beauty in 2017, we thought she would be Kylie Jenner and Kylie Cosmetics’ biggest competition. Little did we know there would be another Kardashian-Jenner waiting to take the 21-year-old’s beauty throne: Kylie’s dad, Caitlyn Jenner.
According to The Blast, both Kylie and Caitlyn are launching their own skin-care line, which shouldn’t be a big deal—they’re different ages, have different demographics, etc.—except when it comes to their brands’ names. Per documents obtained by The Blast, Caitlyn plans on naming her skin-care line “Skincare by Caitlyn Jenner,” “Jenner Skincare,” “Skincare by Jenner” and “Caitlyn Jenner Skincare.”
The brand, which was trademarked under each of those names, lists moisturizers, lotions, masks, facial balms, peels and cosmetics as its products. It also claims to a line for “non-medicated skin-care preparations.”
Kylie, on the other hand, filed a trademark last month to name her skin-care brand, “Kylie Skin,” with pretty much the same products as her dad. As The Blast notes, Caitlyn is free to name her skin-care line whatever she wants, but given the tension between the 68-year-old and the Kardashians (including her ex-wife and Kylie’s mom and manager, Kris Jenner), they might have a problem with the name, “Jenner Skincare,” which could be mistaken for Kylie’s.
It’s unclear what Kylie and Caitlyn will name their skin-care lines in the end, but, hey, the more Kardashian-Jenner products, the merrier.
