The Daily Buzz For April 18 ☕📰☕

Rihanna is COLORFUL for Harper's Bazaar US - May 2019
Just when you thought the current roundup of May 2019 magazine covers would remain somewhat of a snooze fest, Rihanna graced us with her presence by blessing the glossy pages of Harper's Bazaar's May 2019 beauty issue.

For the publication's cover, Rihanna looks into the camera with wispy red lashes and a collage of swiped-on color surrounding her striking green eyes. Her lips (with their famously perfect cupid's bow) are coated in a greenish-gold hue. The kaleidoscope effect on Rihanna's face — created by makeup artist Isamaya Ffrench, who was responsible for the fashion muse's skinny eyebrows on British Vogue's September 2018 issue — is matched by the John Galliano for Maison Margiela Artisanal Spring 2019 jumpsuit she wears.

The singer-turned-mogul's ability to wed couture and striking beauty looks in perfect harmony doesn't stop there. The issue's inside images feature even more outstanding looks, including the one below, in which Rihanna strikes a pose in Dior Haute Couture among a slew of Ancient Greek sculptures:

For more proof that Rihanna might single-handedly revive the magazine industry, take a look at the gallery below and visit Harper's Bazaar website for the full shoot.

#RHOA: Oh WOW! Shamari May Be Demoted From Housewife Status Rumor Report!
Things could be shaking up in Atlanta for a couple of our favorite Georgia peaches. ‘Real Housewives Of Atlanta’ season 11 just wrapped, with most of the housewives left in a standoff with reality TV veteran, NeNe Leakes.

In the ashes of their friendships, Bravo has reportedly already started looking at season 12 and deciding who stays, who goes, and whose roles need to change.
Rumor has it that Shamari DeVoe, the wife of New Edition’s Ronnie Devoe, could be demoted to “friend” status, according to LoveBScott.

That would put DeVoe on the same level as Marlo Hampton, who has been a frequent on the show for the past few seasons as NeNe Leakes friend.
The insider also said that newcomer, model Eva Marcille’s, position was up for debate, but they reportedly decided that the new wife and mama of two was worth keeping around the crew.

Kenya Moore, who left the show to focus on her husband and child, is allegedly working on a new contract with the series.
At the time of her departure, a source told People, “Everyone wanted to have Kenya back, but they wanted to have the old Kenya back — the one who isn’t afraid of the cameras,” an alleged production person told the outlet. “You can’t have secrets and be on reality TV. Especially when other Housewives are showing all of their lives — the good, bad, and the ugly. They need to see your life.”

But perhaps Kenya has finally taken enough time away and is ready to spill the tea again. Porsha, who left the show amid the “sex dungeon” scandal, reportedly hasn’t been ruled out as a cast member for season 2.

New mommy Porsha, Kandi, Cynthia, NeNe, and Tanya and Marlo are expected to come back to the show in the same roles as before.

Empire did a 1.1 and Star a 0.9, both down a tenth of a point.

On ABC, The Goldbergs rated a flat 1.1 and Schooled grew 13% for a 0.9. Modern Family went up 9% to 1.2 and Single Parents was a level 0.8, then Whiskey Cavalier a 0.6, also flat.

#NewMusic: Stream It! Beyoncé’s ‘Homecoming: The Live Album’
It’s Homecoming season, according to Beyoncé. The global superstar has once again bent the rules on music releases dates by sharing a live companion album to correspond to the Netflix premiere of HOMECOMING: A film by Beyoncé, her Beychella documentary.

The 40-track project includes stellar recordings from her history-making Coachella performance from last year, which included grand selections from her impressive catalog, dating back to her Destiny’s Child heyday to her now larger-than-life solo career.

Homecoming: The Live Album also features bonus material, including a Tay Keith-produced remix of Maze featuring Frankie Beverly’s “Before I Let Go” and “I Been On,” a rough version of “***Flawless.”

As previously mentioned, Beyoncé partnered with Netflix to showcase her 2018 Coachella performance that saluted historical black marching bands across America. According to the official film synopsis, the intimate in-depth picture “reveals the emotional road from creative concept to cultural movement.”

Following her historic set at the festival last year, the mother-of-three rebooted her BeyGOOD Initiative’s Homecoming Scholars Award program (previously named Formation Scholars Award program) to award one student from four historically Black universities and colleges $25,000 scholarships.

‘Avengers: Endgame’ Directors Pens Letter Urging Fans To Not Spoil Movie
On Wednesday, just ten days prior to it’s release, Avengers directors, Anthony and Joseph Russo, collectively known as the Russo brothers took to social media, pleading with Marvel fans to not to spoil the highly anticipated superhero film in light of footage reportedly leaked online.

The Russo brothers wrote: “For all of you who have been on this  Journey with us at the very beginning, sharing every high and low with your family, your classmates, your coworker, investing so deeply in every character and storyline. Laughing. Cheering. Shedding tears. Giving so frequently of your thoughts and emotions and fears or dialogue, theory, fan art, and fan fiction.”
Their letter continues, “Please know that the two of us, along with everyone involved in ‘Endgame,’ have worked tirelessly for the last three years with the sole intention of delivering a surprising and emotionally powerful conclusion to the Infinity saga.”
The brothers end their letter asking for no spoilers as the superhero film is expected to gross over $800 million worldwide on its opening weekend at the end of April.

Wendy Williams' Husband Issues A Public Apology: 'I Am Trying To Right Some Wrongs'
Wendy Williams estranged husband and manager, Kevin Hunter, is finally coming clean about ongoing infidelity rumors that have destroyed his marriage to the media mogul.

In a statement to PEOPLE, Hunter gives an honest confession about the role he played in the destruction of his marriage. “I am not proud of my recent actions and take full accountability and apologize to my wife, my family and her amazing fans,” Hunter said. “I am going through a time of self-reflection and am trying to right some wrongs.”

Hunter also alludes that Wendy isn’t the only one in the relationship struggling with addiction. While promising to seek help himself, he also vows to be in his wife’s corner no matter what becomes of their relationship.

“Twenty-eight years ago I met an amazing woman: Wendy Williams,” he continues. “At the time, I didn’t realize that she would not only become my wife, but would also change the face of entertainment and the world. I have dedicated most of our lives to the business empire that is Wendy Williams Hunter, a person that I truly love and respect unconditionally. No matter what the outcome is or what the future holds, we are still The Hunter Family and I will continue to work with and fully support my wife in this business and through any and all obstacles she may face living her new life of sobriety, while I also work on mine.”

Hunter concludes by asking the public to “please give me and my family privacy as we heal.”

Last week, it was announced that Wendy filed for divorce from Hunter following the news that he had fathered a child with alleged mistress Sharina Hudson. An inside source told PEOPLE that Hunter confessed to the affair and child once Wendy confronted him with evidence collected by her private investigator.

Yesterday, Wendy seemed to confirm the split by telling her show audience that she plans to focus on herself and their 19-year-old son, Kevin Jr., moving forward. “I have to tell you, you know, I’ve been dealing with issues with addiction, alcoholism, and I have a whole new life that I planned for myself and my son,” she said. “Believe me you, when you lay in a room with no TV and four gray walls all day…this is my life in the sober house, it’s one of the best things, honestly, that could have ever happened to me.”

Wendy has not yet responded to Kevin’s statement.

The Woman 'Infatuated' with Columbine Shooting Who Prompted School Closings Is Found Dead!
According to multiple reports, Sol Pais, the woman who allegedly had “expressed an infatuation” with the 1999 Columbine High School massacre, was found dead Wednesday morning near the base of Colorado’s Mt. Evans after a manhunt.

CBS Denver, The Denver Channel and 9 News confirmed the death, citing police sources. It was not immediately clear how Pais died.
The FBI Denver division announced on Twitter, “THERE IS NO LONGER A THREAT TO THE COMMUNITY. More information to follow shortly.”
The Federal Bureau of Investigation and local authorities in Colorado are searching for a woman in connection with threats that caused schools across the Denver metro area to close on Wednesday.

Sol Pais, 18, was described by the FBI Denver division and the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office as being 5 feet 5 inches tall with brown hair. Authorities said she was armed and “considered to be extremely dangerous.”
Pais “has expressed an infatuation with Columbine,” Dean Phillips, the special agent in charge of the FBI Denver division, said in a press conference on Tuesday night, referring to the Columbine High School massacre in which 13 people were killed.

Pais’ alleged threats come just days before the 20th anniversary of the school shooting, which occurred on April 20, 1999.

Phillips added that Pais had bought a pump-action shotgun and ammunition after arriving in Denver.
The FBI Denver division told PEOPLE on Wednesday morning that there had been no new updates in the search after the information shared at the press conference.
In a Facebook post on Wednesday, the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office said that Pais had traveled to Colorado on Monday night and “made threats in the Denver metropolitan area.”

The FBI Denver division said that the threats were “not isolated to one school or individual.”

Pais was last seen in the foothills of Jefferson County, Colorado wearing a black t-shirt, camouflage pants and black boots, according to the sheriff’s office.
The Miami Herald reports that a man who answered the door at Pais’ home in Florida identified himself as her father and encouraged his daughter to come home. According to the outlet, he said he had lost contact with Pais on Sunday.

“I think maybe she’s got a mental problem,” he said, according to the outlet. “I think she’s gonna be okay.”

Well all is okay now.

The sisters joined forces with momager Kris Jenner to attend the Tuesday night opening of UCLA’s heath center named after their father Robert Kardashian.

The Robert G. Kardashian Center for Esophageal Health comes 16 years after their dad passed away from esophageal cancer at the age of 59.

Guess we’ll have to wait for the next “KUWTK” season to find out why.

Lori Loughlin Claims She Was Manipulated To Think She Was ‘Breaking Rules, But Not Laws,’ Report Says
Now that Lori Loughlin and her husband, Mossimo Giannulli, have pleaded not guilty in the college admissions bribery scandal, they and their attorneys are working up a defense strategy.
One possible strategy that’s surfacing is that the former “Full House” actress will say they were victims of a con artist, according to an Entertainment Tonight report. Loughlin and Giannulli claim that college admissions consultant William “Rick” Singer led them to believe they weren’t breaking any laws when they paid $500,000 in bribes to get their daughters, Olivia Jade and Isabella, admitted to the University of Southern California on the false pretense they were crew athletes.

“(Lori and her husband) claim they were under the impression they might be breaking rules, but not laws,” a source told Entertainment Tonight. “They feel they were manipulated by those involved and are planning that as part of their defense.”
“They realize how serious the charges are, but feel that once the judge hears their story he will see they had no bad intentions,” the source added to Entertainment Tonight.

The not guilty pleas by Loughlin, 54, and Giannulli, 55, came Monday as the New York Times, the Wall Street Journal and other publications reported that prosecutors with the U.S. Attorney’s Office in Massachusetts are targeting for investigation some children of the dozens of wealthy parents charged in the scandal. According to a lawyer involved in the case, these children have received so-called target letters, which notify people that they could be targets of a criminal probe.
It was not known Monday how many students received such target letters or whether they would be charged in the case, the New York Times added. Law360, a legal news service, said the letters were sent to adult children who allegedly knew about the cheating scheme and who were at least 18 years old when it was “hatched and accomplished.”

It’s not known if Olivia Jade, 19, and Isabella Giannulli, 20, received such target letters or if they even meet the conditions of being adults when the schemes were “hatched and accomplished.”

According to the affidavit in support of the criminal complaint against Loughlin and Mossimo Giannulli, the couple began working with Singer in April 2016 to help get Isabella, then 17, into USC.The couple began working with Singer the following April to get Olivia Jade into USC; Olivia Jade, a popular YouTuber and social media influencer, turned 18 in September 2017.
According to the affidavit, both daughters posed for photos on rowing machines that allegedly were used to convince USC officials they were crew athletes. People magazine also reported that Olivia Jade Giannulli was aware of the grander scheme and went along with it because “she trusted her parents.”

Following Loughlin and Mossimo Giannulli’s not-guilty pleas, People magazine reported that both parents felt they had “no choice” but to fight the charges. The couple at some point may have been willing to negotiate a plea deal, though Entertainment Tonight reported that “in denial” Loughlin rejected any deal that would involve jail time.
Loughlin and Giannulli instead decided to “roll the dice,” a source told People, and the couple ended up being hit last week with more serious fraud and money laundering charges, with each charge carrying maximum a sentence of 20 years in prison — or 40 years total, according to reports.

“I think she and her lawyers underestimated how motivated the prosecution was,” another source added to People. “So she didn’t plead, and then they hit her with another charge,” leaving any plea deal off the table. “So the only choice they’ve got is to plead not guilty,” the source said.

Entertainment Tonight reported that Loughlin “broke down crying” when she heard the number of years she could spend in prison. “The thought of being separated from her loved ones for years brought her to her knees,” a source told Entertainment Tonight. “She has watched as the other families cut deals, but her husband feels they are not guilty and should plead not guilty.”
Legal experts, however, told Entertainment Tonight that it’s unlikely Loughlin and Giannulli would face a severe sentence of so many years in prison.

Meanwhile, the couple, who have been married 22 years, are dismissive of the money laundering charges, Entertainment Tonight added.
“They in no way felt they were money laundering,” the source said. “They thought the money would be used for a donation and to benefit the school. Even so, this has been one of the toughest decisions of Lori’s life.”
In another report, a source told People that Loughlin was very concerned about what a guilty plea would do to their daughters, “who may not have grasped everything that was going on.”
The source told People that Loughlin worried that Olivia Jade and Isabella, an aspiring actress, would somehow think less of her if she took a plea deal.

“Yes, (Lori) can think about the public perception of her, but that’s nothing compared to what her daughters think of her,” the source told People. “So that is something that has understandably made her less likely to enter a plea.”

Russell Simmons Denies Hiding Out In Bali To Avoid Legal Battle In Sexual Assault Case; Says He Will Be Back Soon
Back in 2017, Russell Simmons’ longstanding legacy was challenged after a female screenwriter came forward with allegations of sexual assault. The woman detailed the allegations in a guest column for the Hollywood Reporter, which in turn, sparked an influx of new claims of sexual misconduct and lawsuits against Simmons.

Although Simmons denied the claims and even took a lie detector test to prove his innocence, the hip-hop mogul traveled to Indonesia for spiritual enlightenment in the midst of the legal drama. But now, according to The Blast, a woman, who accused Simmons of raping her in 1988, is accusing Simmons of trying to avoid prosecution in the case.
In docs obtained by the publication, the woman, who’s listed as Jane Doe, says Simmons “fled to Indonesia which has no extradition treaty with the United States in an apparent attempt to protect himself.” She says she planned to depose Simmons in the case, but now, “it is unlikely he will return to the United States to be deposed in this case and face arrest and imprisonment.”

However, Simmons says that is not the case. In fact, according to the Blast, Simmons says he has plans to return very soon.
“The anonymous accuser’s assertion that Mr. Simmons is hiding out in Bali, a country that does not have any extradition treaty with the United States, is false, as are her other accusations against Mr. Simmons, which she claims took place 31 years ago.”

“The accusation that Mr. Simmons has traveled to Bali many times over the years, but in the midst of multiple accusations last year, has not returned is also false. The fact is Mr. Simmons has been in and out of the United States six times in the last year and will be back for his child’s graduation,” the rep continued, adding, “The accuser, who has been convicted of a crime, is hoping to hit the lottery in this case, asking at least $10 million based on these false allegations.”

#LGBTQ: Transgender ICE detainee died of AIDS complications, autopsy shows
A transgender migrant from Honduras died in ICE custody last year from a rare, AIDS-related illness called multicentric Castleman disease, according to the official autopsy report released last week by the New Mexico Office of the Medical Investigator.

Activists had claimed in a wrongful death lawsuit that bruising and fractured ribs discovered by an independent medical examiner suggested that the migrant, Roxsana Hernandez, 33, had been abused while in detention.
But the state medical investigator said in a statement that it did not “share that conclusion,” noting that forceful CPR broke Hernandez’ ribs and caused the bruising.
The official autopsy concluded that Hernandez, who had been detained after requesting asylum, had “untreated HIV infection" and died from AIDS-related complications.

According to the autopsy and notes provided by Immigration and Customs Enforcement about Hernandez’ treatment while in custody, both it and Customs and Border Patrol were aware of Hernandez’ HIV status during her detention but still did not provide her with the necessary antiretroviral drugs.

I think this person was denied the minimum standard required by U.S. law for prisoners and detainees.
“I think this person was denied the minimum standard required by U.S. law for prisoners and detainees,” Dr. Chris Beyrer, a public health professor at Johns Hopkins University, told NBC News after reviewing the official autopsy report.

Beyrer, who never examined Hernandez, said it is possible that Hernandez’ life could have been saved had she quickly been administered antiretrovirals. He added that those responsible for migrant detainees’ well-being “have an absolute moral, ethical and legal obligation to provide the minimum standard of care for detainees.”

He said this would “certainly include” antiretrovirals for HIV. “It was criminal to deny her” antiretrovirals, Beyrer said.

While an ICE spokesperson, Danielle Bennett, provided NBC News with a detailed timeline of Hernandez’ medical care while in ICE custody from May 13 until her death on May 25, Bennett was unable to say whether Hernandez was ever offered antiretrovirals, and if not, why not.

ICE also did not respond to Beyrer’s assertions.

The Daily Buzz For Aug 9 ☕📰☕

Zendaya's 'Marie Claire' September Cover is giving you Retro '60s
While we're waist-deep in floral summer dresses and short shorts right now, some of us are already looking toward to fall and wondering what the dominating trends will be once sweater weather comes around. And if Marie Claire's September 2018 Zendaya cover is any hint, we might be going towards a new take on the '60s. Rather than taking cues from the hippie-dippie aesthetic of the decade, things might get a little more Mod.

Featuring a textured, undone beehive, cat eye eyeliner, and a fuzzy leopard sweater, Zendaya is giving off a Mod Girl meets Beatnik kind of aesthetic, like she's channeling the style right as the decades changed. That could very well be the inspiration, especially considering that the cover story headline is "Zendaya Rebel With A Cause," which is a riff off of the 1955 James Dean movie, Rebel Without a Cause.
There are some major mid-century vibes on the cover and throughout the photo shoot, where the actress is sporting retro outfits, fur coats in a variety of prints, and playful outfit pairings, mixing several decades in a modern and fresh way.

In one photo, Zendaya stands in a knee length fuzzy zebra-striped turtleneck, which was paired with a midi pencil skirt, and red Mary Jane shoes matched with slouched socks.
In another photo she is sitting sprawled out on a couch, with a burnt orange teddy bear coat on, paired with a mustard pussybow blouse. From the textures and details, to the color pairing, everything about the photo says "Dolly Bird."

Print mixing looks like it will also be in, especially if you're clashing two different kinds of animal prints. In this particular outfit, the actress is wearing a small cheetah print skirt that matches her cheetah print socks, and then contrasts that with a mohair sweater that comes in a bigger cheetah print motif. All of this is tied together with block heel loafers that are topped off with a bow. It's unexpected, retro, and definitely a little wild.
Then there was the cardigan set outfit, where Zendaya wore a mock neck sweater paired with a matching cardigan, which hung over a plaid pencil skirt that was cinched at the waist with a plaid and chain bum bag. This look was more of a mix of Beatnik and punk style, playing with turtleneck silhouettes and contrasting them with buckled straps and chains.

But the September issue isn't only all about fall fashion and how amazing Zendaya looks in a beehive — though a lot of it does have to do with her hair. As Janet Mock, the cover article's writer pointed out, Zendaya became a household name after Giuliana Rancic poked fun of her waist-length faux locks at the 2015 Oscars, saying they made her look like she would smell of weed. To that, Zendaya answered on social media, "There is already harsh criticism of African-American hair in society without the help of ignorant people who choose to judge others based on the curl of their hair.”
The issue hits newsstands Aug. 16, where you can read the full cover story and become inspired of the upcoming fall fashions and Zendaya's fierce advocating.

Joe Biden Launches LGBTQ+ Family Acceptance Campaign🌈🌈🌈🌈
Former Vice President Joe Biden is still advocating for free love, as per the Tuesday (August 7) announcement for his "As You Are" campaign, which will focus on the importance of family and community acceptance among LGBTQ youth.

Back by the Biden Foundation, the campaign hopes to collect testimonial from LGBTQ+ youth, family members, educators and more in hopes "that they will serve to inspire, to create communities, to heal families, and to change the broader culture to ensure a bright future for all LGBTQ young people."
In an announcement video featuring Biden, as well as Cyndi Lauper, former NFL player Wade Davis, and a number of LGBTQ advocates, viewers learn of the advances that have been made for the community, but we still have a long way to go. While activist Shéár Avory reveals that "40% of homeless youth identify as LGBTQ," the Trevor Project CEO and Executive Director Amit Paley dropped an even bigger bombshell. "Gay, lesbian, and bisexual youth are five times more likely than their straight peers to have attempted suicide," he shared.

"I'm so proud to announce the Biden Foundation has launched this campaign," Biden said in a press release. "We'll use our resources to highlight the harms of family rejection -- and lift up research, best practices, and personal stories to powerfully show the significant value of family acceptance."

#RHoA: Kandi Burruss Talks Sex and Rumored Sex Dungeon with Gizelle Bryant!
In a new Bravo segment called “Housewife to Housewife,” “The Real Housewives of Atlanta” star Kandi Burruss shared a peek into her sex life with husband Todd Tucker and even dished on whether or not that rumored sex dungeon could be a reality.

Burruss disclosed to “The Real Housewives of Potomac” star Gizelle Bryant that there is no sex dungeon in her home. This despite what the singer’s former RHOA cast member, Phaedra Parks, relayed to current ‘wife Porsha Williams during the show’s season 9 reunion.
“No, there is not a sex dungeon… at this time,” Burruss said after noting that not much is off limits in the bedroom between her and Tucker. “Obviously, in the beginning, because it was a lie and everything, I was kind of upset about the whole situation. But now that I’ve had time to think about it, I was like, you know what? That sex dungeon isn’t such a bad idea. I might need to work on that.”

It’s a complete 180 from how Burruss reacted to the dungeon claims last year. When things came to a head during the reunion special, Burruss was reasonably irate that Parks had spread the rumor she wanted to drug and rape Williams in the supposed den.

“Do y’all know people would was under my comments saying #KandiAKABillCosby?” Burruss said at the time through tears. “Do you think that s— is f—ing cool?…. Y’all accused me of being a f—ing rapist. That is crazy.”
But now that the dungeon might become a reality, Bryant is all up for it.

There are no inhibitions … and when you go into the dungeon, you never know who’s gonna be in there,” the RHOP star said.
“Ever since that whole travesty, people walk up to us on the street or seek us out, saying they want to come into the sex dungeon,” Burruss tells Bryant, who whispers she’d like to come too.

“And you would be so welcome,” Burruss says welcoming the idea. “We’ll talk about that another time.”

Empire NEW SEASON ALERT! Jussie Smollett Reveals Two-Year Time Jump In Season 5: The Tone Has ‘Shifted’
Back to basics? Empire season 5 will pick up two years after season 4 ended, Jussie Smollett said while at Us Weekly’s suite at the Television Critics Association’s press tour. Although it’s jumping ahead, some things have gone back to the way they were in the beginning.

“It’s so exciting because in a way, it’s a restart. It’s also is a chance to show such growth in these characters we’ve been playing for four seasons,” Smollett, 35, said. “The Lyons have lost everything. And Lyons don’t do well when they can’t eat. They come back swinging, but they come back swinging together. There’s no Lyon family member that’s against a Lyon family member. This is unified.”

The actor, who portrays Jamal Lyon in the Fox drama, also detailed his character’s journey over the two years. The death of Tori (guest star Rumer Willis) “woke him up” and caused him to make a change, traveling to London to find himself.

“He’s always had a backbone, always been loyal, which is wonderful, but this time, he’s come back and he’s grown. There are certain boundaries that you have to set as an adult, just a respect thing you don’t have always have. He’s learning that,” Smollett explained. “I’m trying not to give anything away because this story line, it’s stuff that I want to say, it’s stuff that I want to talk about, it’s stuff that I want to act. It’s really exciting. Jamal’s dealing with very real-life stuff. Gone are the frivolous things of our youth and here are the real things of life.”

Smollett, who came out as gay in 2016, didn’t want to reveal much about Jamal’s love life, but did say that he’s thrilled about where Jamal is.

“Jamal has been a serial monogamous – a legal ho, if you will. He’s been taken through the ringer. This, he’s found someone,” he noted. “It’s just a story line that I really feel proud of. And that’s all I’m gonna say. It’s good.”
As for the tone of season 5, the singer and actor also added that it’s a “bit more rooted.”
“Because we’ve lost everything, there’s a certain shine that had to be stripped away in order to truly tell the story of people who were starting from nothing,” he said. “I won’t say [there’s] a darkness to it … the tone has not changed but shifted.”

Empire season 5 premieres on Fox Wednesday, September 26, at 8 p.m. ET.

In comparison to those of her formative years, Lover’s Rock is Estelle’s most personal album to date, as she centers in on her West Indian roots with a full-fledged reggae album. She has collaborated with esteemed Jamaican producer Supa Dups, Reefa, Jerry Wonda, Harmony Samuels, and more.

Lupita Nyong’o Says Natural Hair Still Gets Shunned: ‘It’s Been Painted As Uncivilized’
Lupita Nyong’o sat down with Porter, and one of the topics she discussed was how natural hair has been received, both in and out of Hollywood.

“My hair is something that historically has been shunned,” she said. “I mean, how often do you hear ‘You can’t get a job with hair like that?’ Natural, African, kinky hair — it’s often been painted as uncivilized or wild.”

Nyong’o is on the cover of Porter, where her natural locks were untampered with, which didn’t happen when she posed for Grazia.

As we previously reported, the editors of the UK publication gave the actress a ponytail, smoothed out her hair and removed its natural kinks. Nyong’o then blasted Grazia in an Instagram post that received a lot of attention.
So to make sure young girls are proud of their natural features, the 35-year-old wrote a book titled “Sulwe” that’ll hit shelves next year. The story is about a young girl who learns to be proud of her skin tone, and the actress said it’s somewhat autobiographical.

Nyong’o also explained that she was inspired to write the book in 2014, right after her speech at the Essence Black Women in Hollywood awards.“It was about having dark skin in a world that favors traditional Western standards of beauty, light complexions and silky hair and my own journey from insecurity to a place of self-acceptance,” she said about the speech.
“I was touched by how it had resonated with so many people of color and not just Black Africans. I started to realize that there was a demographic that really needed to hear this message but wouldn’t hear my speech. I wanted to get to kids before they reach an age where the world is telling them they are not as valuable,” added Nyong’o

Later in the interview, the Nairobi raised-actress spoke about the success of “Black Panther,” and how she knew it was something special during filming.
But at the same time, she had no idea of the cultural phenomenon it would be and was thrilled to see moviegoers dressed in African clothing all around the world.

On top of that, Nyong’o said the film has improved communication between Africans and African-Americans, which she’s thrilled about.

“I was in Nigeria not long after the film came out,” she explained. “And one man said to me ‘How are my cousins [Chadwick] Boseman and [Michael B.] Jordan?’ I had never heard that sentiment come out of an African’s mouth. It started a long overdue conversation about our shared identities.”

Have a wonderful day.”

Kim, 37, wasted no time calling out her sister’s former beau after The Shade Room posted a screenshot of Bendjima’s latest story. “Nice pics from your ‘boys trip,’” the KKW beauty creator wrote, adding a Pinocchio-inspired emoji that features a long nose.

The Selfish author’s remark comes shortly after Khloé Kardashian shaded Bendjima on a different Shade Room Instagram post.
“They really want me to be the bad guy,” Bendjima wrote on his first Instagram Story, alongside crying laughing emojis. “F—k your Hollywood bullshit (can’t have fun with your friends no more) Where are my 12 others friendssss Nice catch tho.”

Nine-Year-Old North Carolina Boy Robbed at Gunpoint at His Lemonade Stand
Over the weekend, a nine-year-old entrepreneur was robbed at gunpoint, while working his organic lemonade stand in his North Carolina neighborhood.

The incident occurred on Saturday in Monroe when a suspect, who officials described as a “teenage black male wearing a camouflage hat and black shirt,” approached Mark David with a gun.
Officials say, “the suspect allegedly stuck a black handgun to the boy’s stomach, demanded money and fled the scene on foot,” as David escaped with his life. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

The thief made off with $17 dollars. Though officials were able to locate a trail in the woods near the scene of the crime, where “a camouflage hat, a black colored BB handgun, and the stolen metal tin were recovered,” a suspect has not been identified.

Despite the traumatic event, David returned to his lemonade stand the following day, as his father explained to his son that “bad things do happen to good people and you never know when it’s going to happen to you.”
David had been working his lemonade stand to save money for a riding lawnmower for his “other” business. But after hearing of the unfortunate incident, a local Lowe’s donated the boy a lawnmower.

Lindsay Lohan Thinks #MeToo Movement Makes Women Look 'Weak'
Lindsay Lohan's got some things to say about the #MeToo movement.
During a recent interview with The Times, the actress and reality television star gave her opinion on the women who've been stepping up and calling out their abusers.
“I don’t really have anything to say," Lohan admitted. "I can’t speak on something I didn’t live, right? Look, I am very supportive of women. Everyone goes through their own experiences in their own ways."

“If it happens at that moment, you discuss it at that moment," she added. "You make it a real thing by making it a police report. I’m going to really hate myself for saying this, but I think by women speaking against all these things, it makes them look weak when they are very strong women. You have these girls who come out, who don’t even know who they are, who do it for the attention. That is taking away from the fact that it happened.”

The movement arose after multiple women accused Harvey Weinstein of committing sex crimes against them, causing others to work up the courage and bravely tell their own stories. Lohan stood up for the movie mogul amidst the allegations, saying she felt "very bad" for him.

#BLUEWAVE: Ferguson City Councilman Wesley Bell Upsets 27-Year Veteran Bob McCulloch In St. Louis County Prosecutor Race: “We Shocked The World”
On Tuesday, Ferguson City Councilman Wesley Bell pulled off a monumental upset in the St. Louis County primary election, unseating the 27-year tenure of St. Louis County Prosecutor Bob McCulloch.

“People keep saying ‘you shocked the world,’” Bell said after his victory. “No, we shocked the world. People showed up and showed out.”

According to reports, Bell ran his campaign on criminal-justice reform, promising resources for treating addiction and mental health issues and ending mass incarceration with a new focus on serious crimes.
The new change in the prosecutor position is a huge step for the county, especially in the wake of the fatal 2014 shooting of Michael Brown.  ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
In fact, that same year, McCulloch ran unopposed to secure his seat for another four years and faced criticisms for the decision to not indict Brown’s shooter, Darren Wilson.
Now, with Bell in the seat, the county will be able to focus on new plans for the future. He will run unopposed in November, as Republicans did not field a candidate in the primary.
