#MAGFAB: New York Magazine presents The Legends of Broadway Issue

For their annual Yesteryear issue, NY Mag asked these legendary performers to pose before Mark Seliger’s camera and revisit their most memorable roles. Their careers span an enormous length of time, through multiple Broadway eras. Some of their performances were career breakthroughs, turning working-stiff actors into above-the-title stars.
Others were simply definitive, astonishing audiences or winning Tony Awards or creating a character that everyone knows to this day. All were roles these actors felt strongly about and were eager to recall. It’s likely the only time you’ll ever see most of them return to these characters. This portfolio is, like a memory of a night in a Broadway house, an artifact of a moment.

#NewMusic from Kindred The Family Soul ‘I Need You’ Honoring The Legacy Of Frankie Beverly
The music world got a little dimmer last September when we lost soul music legend Frankie Beverly. Though he might be gone, he is surely not forgotten. Making sure of that are artists like Philly’s own Kindred The Family Soul, who pay homage to his legacy with their latest single “I Need You.”

“I Need You” is a cover of the Maze featuring Frankie Beverly cut of the same name — which was originally released in 1975 when the group went by the name Raw Soul. Though Maze has always been known for their silky smooth take on soul, “I Need You” is perhaps one of their rawest, most searing cuts. And only someone like the husband and wife duo of Fatin Dantzler and Aja Dantzler are equipped to do it justice.

Kindred’s take on the track, produced by the GRAMMY-nominated Vidal Davis, captures the original’s essence while imbuing it with their own sensibilities. The duo turning this song into a lovers’ duet only intensifies its urgency and yearning, adding a bit of drama in to the mix.

LISTEN HERE:

Fatin’s rich voice is one of the few in the industry that can compare to Frankie’s, something that’s evident from the moment we hear it on the opening verse. And Aja’s voice is the perfect counterpoint, adding a sweetness that carries their cover to unexpected places. But it’s the twosome’s chemistry, as always, that draws us in and keeps us listening (and, in the case of this one, relistening) and invested.
Kindred The Family Soul did their big one on this! If you’ve ever wondered what it sounds like when someone makes Frankie Beverly proud by doing a Maze cover right, all you have to do is press play.

#HipHopNews: Azealia Banks Goes After Eminem And Dismisses Him As "School Shooter Music"

Azealia Banks often rants about many rappers on Twitter, and she recently provoked a response from Wale as a result. Will Eminem do the same?
Many people underrate the musical talents of Azealia Banks because they only know her scathing Twitter rants against many rappers. She often draws controversy for her views even when she tries to point folks to wider societal issues, although this can come at the cost of dragging another artist through the mud in unfair ways. However, we can't deny the New York native certainly has a penchant for vibrantly shady commentary even when her takes might make many disagree. When she saw a Twitter user praise Eminem under another tweet of hers, she made her disdain for the Detroit legend very clear.

"Nobody wanna hear that school shooter music," Azealia Banks ranted about Eminem. "This is hiphop, we don’t care or relate to white male anger and raps about wanting to kill your mother. 'Stan' is legendary for its own reasons but Eminem is just always too disturbed. One would think that at this point in his career he’d challenge himself to write even just ONE song that wasn’t about his mental illnesses. Eminem is always going to be that mad white guy nobody wanna f**k. When Eminem can make ONE a** shaker, and exhibit even 0.2 oz of sex appeal we can revisit. But vanilla ice was and is still the best white rapper of all time. Argue with ur mom."

Florida defeats Houston in nail-biter to win first national championship since 2007

An NCAA Tournament defined by its lack of suspense came down to its final possession Monday.
Florida won its third national championship 65-63 by overcoming a 12-point second-half deficit and making one final defensive stand.

Houston got the ball back with 19 seconds left but could not get a final shot off. Catching a pass well beyond the 3-point line with five seconds left, Cougars guard Emanuel Sharp jumped for what would have been a game-winning attempt but pump-faked seeing the defense of Florida guard Walter Clayton Jr.
Sharp avoided traveling by bouncing the ball while he was in the air, but a teammate could not rush over in time to grab it and throw up an attempt in time before the clock ran out.

Houston was denied what would have been its first national title. Cougars coach Kelvin Sampson, 69, was trying to win his 800th career game and become the oldest coach ever to win a men’s basketball title. Instead, he was left frozen after the final possession gone wrong, and it was 39-year-old Gators coach Todd Golden who sprinted onto the floor under a flood of confetti after the final buzzer.

The back-and-forth comeback capped a tournament that had delivered few surprises during its first two weeks, as all four No. 1 seeds advanced to the Final Four for the first time since 2008 and only the second time since the tournament expanded in 1985. The favorites may have prevailed, yet rarely in straightforward fashion, after Houston and Florida required dramatic comebacks in the semifinals against Duke and Auburn to even make it to Monday night's title game.

Clutch Gators guard Clayton scored all 11 of his points in the second half and added seven assists, five rebounds and the title-sealing defensive closeout with seconds remaining. Teammate Will Richard kept Florida in the game during the team’s early struggles, with his 14 points accounting for half of the Gators’ halftime total.
L.J. Cryer scored 19 points to lead Houston, whose 18-game winning streak ended.

Though the teams’ season averages and tournament performances indicated Florida had the more explosive offense, Houston raced ahead to a 29-21 lead within 15 minutes as mistakes cost the Gators multiple scoring opportunities. Yet despite nine turnovers and only the second scoreless first half all season by Clayton, Florida trailed only 31-28 at halftime in the lowest-scoring first half of a championship game since 2011.

The position was familiar for Florida, which had prevailed previously in the tournament despite trailing by six in the tournament’s round of 32, by 10 in the Elite Eight and by nine in Saturday’s semifinal.
That resiliency was tested again quickly. With 16 minutes to play in the second half, Houston took its largest lead, at 42-30, as Florida endured a scoreless drought of nearly three minutes. Yet Florida scored eight unanswered points to cut into the lead, 45-42, with 12:06 left.
Four minutes later, Florida forced a tie after Clayton scooped in a left-handed layup for his first field goal, then added a free throw after being fouled.

Clayton leveled the score again at 60 with less than three minutes to play when he made his first 3-pointer of the night on his sixth attempt — the 11th tie of the game.
At last, Florida took the lead with 46 seconds to play after free throws by Alijah Martin pushed it ahead 64-63. And it got a critical break with 26 seconds left when Sharp, the guard who helped save Houston's season in a comeback win Saturday against Duke, dribbled through traffic and had the ball poked away, rolling out of bounds, giving it back to Florida with an opportunity to grow its lead.
Unlike Duke in the national semifinal Saturday, Florida survived Houston’s full-court press to advance the ball but missed one of its next two free throws to give Houston the ball back with 19 seconds left and an opportunity to win its first national title.

The possession did not result in a shot for Houston, delivering a title for Florida.

Damon Wayans Sr. Reveals Surprise Romance with Nephew’s Ex
The 64-year-old comedian shared some personal news on the April 2 episode of the Club Shay Shay podcast, hosted by ex-NFL athlete Shannon Sharpe, that might shock a few people. Wayans revealed that he dated his nephew's ex-girlfriend over 20 years ago.
Keeping it light, Wayans asked Sharpe, "You ain’t never done the Jackson 5?”

He was referring to a similar situation that happened in the Jackson family when Jermaine Jackson married his younger brother Randy's ex-girlfriend, Alejandra Oaziaza. They were married from 1995 until 2003 and had two sons together, Jaafar, 28, and Jermajesty, 25.
Actor Damon Wayans, Sr. attends the premiere Of Fox Network's 'Lethal Weapon' at NeueHouse Hollywood on September 12, 2016 in Los Angeles, California.

It all sounded messy, so Sharpe tried to clarify exactly what went down. Wayans explained that his nephew and the unnamed woman were not "in love". Wayans had already split from his wife, Lisa Thorner, by the time he dated his nephew's ex-girlfriend.
“I got divorced and I was by myself for two years,” he said of the 2001 relationship. “And then I saw her [his nephew’s ex] and I was just like, ‘Oh my God. I’m in love.’ And then I found out my nephew had dated [her].”

The good news is that his nephew was cool with the situation because Wayans went to him first, but he admitted, "Family gatherings is awkward.”
He didn't offer an update on his dating life now, but it probably isn't as spicy as the nephew-girlfriend situation.
Wayans was married to Thorner from 1984 until 2000. They share four children, Damon Jr. 42, Michael, 40, Cara, 37, and Kyla, 34.

Normani Reveals Why Acting in Her First Film Was 'Freeing': 'I Learned a Lot About Myself'

Between singing, dancing, acting and even bartending, is there anything Normani can't do?
Nearly a year after releasing her Dopamine album, the "Wild Side" singer, 28, served as Hennessy's celebrity bartender at Dreamville Fest on April 5 in Raleigh, N.C. — as she celebrates her film debut in Freaky Tales, which hit theaters one day prior.

Centered on four interconnected stories set in 1987 Oakland, Calif., Freaky Tales features Normani as Entice, a member of a girl group who faces setbacks on her way to the big leagues. "It's liberating and very freeing, being able to be creative in a totally different way," the Fifth Harmony alum tells PEOPLE at the festival of acting in the film, which also stars Pedro Pascal, Jay Ellis, Dominique Thorne and others.
"I felt like I learned a lot about myself, and I was actually able to celebrate myself and watch myself and not be super critical," explains Normani. "When I get home tonight or maybe tomorrow, I'll take my mom and my dad and my grandma and go to the movie."

Freaky Tales marks the "Motivation" artist's latest major artistic endeavor following the release of her debut album, Dopamine, in June 2024. Since sharing the full-length project with listeners, she's felt "grateful" for the support of her "amazing fans" — who've been hoping for some more visuals and performances to accompany the music.

"I got you. We have a lot of special things set up," teases Normani, who's also "always working on new music."
As for why she chose to team up with Hennessy to kick off the second year of the cognac brand's Made for More campaign, the star says, "I love to partner with brands that are very inclusive and just kind of represent everybody."

Normani, who's engaged to NFL star DeKaylin “DK” Metcalf, was interested in the collaboration after seeing Hennessy's work not only in music but also the sports world, as the brand has partnered with the WNBA, "which I think is really dope," she says. "It's just a really equal, fun, responsible brand, so I was really excited to partner."
Fans who visited the Hennessy Highline at Dreamville Fest were treated to cocktails from Normani as well as a high-energy DJ set from Mannie Fresh, who drew quite the crowd at Dorothea Dix Park.

Held over April 5 and 6, Dreamville Fest featured performances from founder J. Cole as well as Lil Wayne, Erykah Badu, PartyNextDoor, 21 Savage, Ari Lennox, Keyshia Cole, GloRilla, Coco Jones and many other artists.
While this year's Dreamville Fest was billed as the fifth and final, Cole told fans during his headlining set that the festival will continue to "exist" in the future under a different name.

Kirk Franklin and Marvin Sapp: Comedy amid controversy
In the world of gospel music, humor and controversy often intertwine, and recent events involving renowned gospel artists Bishop Marvin L. Sapp and Kirk Franklin have sparked a lively conversation online. Following Sapp’s eyebrow-raising request for a $40,000 donation from his churchgoers, Franklin decided to join the fray with a lighthearted jab that has resonated with fans and critics alike.

The background of the controversy
Sapp, known for his hit song “Never Would Have Made It,” faced significant backlash after a video of him ordering ushers to “close the doors” during a church service went viral. This incident occurred at the 109th Pentecostal Assemblies of the World Convention in August 2024, and it quickly became a hot topic on social media platforms. The video, which began circulating on March 26, led to a wave of reactions from fans and followers, many of whom found humor in the situation.

Kirk Franklin’s comedic response
On April 3, Franklin, the celebrated composer of “Stomp,” shared a group photo on his Instagram featuring himself alongside fellow gospel artists John P. Kee, Marvin Sapp, Zacardi Cortez, Jon McReynolds, Isaac Carree, and producer Eric Dawkins. The image was taken at the 2025 BMI Trailblazers of Gospel Music Awards in Atlanta, where Kee was honored with the Trailblazer of Gospel recognition. Franklin’s caption, “Open The Doors!” was widely interpreted as a humorous response to Sapp’s earlier comments, cleverly sidestepping the tension while engaging his audience.

Public reactions and speculations
The playful exchange did not go unnoticed, with fans expressing a range of reactions. Some users suggested that Franklin should consider a career in comedy, while others referenced past controversies, including Franklin’s own leaked phone call with his son in 2021. One commenter quipped, “Pastor beef? Good lord,” highlighting the absurdity of the situation.

However, not all reactions were positive. Some fans found Franklin’s post distasteful, indicating that the humor might not have been appropriate given the serious nature of Sapp’s initial request for donations and the subsequent backlash he faced.

Sapp addresses the backlash
In an interview on the “Rickey Smiley Morning Show” on March 31, Sapp opened up about the fallout from his “close the doors” comment. He revealed that the backlash had escalated to the point where individuals were calling his church, The Chosen Vessel Church in Fort Worth, Texas, to express their anger, even issuing death threats. Sapp clarified that his intention was never to lock the doors but rather to manage the flow of attendees more assertively than necessary.

Naomi Campbell Steals the Show During Usher’s Performance of ‘Bad Girl’

Naomi Campbell reminded everyone exactly why she’s a global icon when she stormed the stage during Usher’s London O2 residency, serving pure supermodel energy during a performance of “Bad Girl.”

The 54-year-old fashion legend turned the arena into her personal runway on night two of Usher’s ten-date, sold-out residency. As the R&B superstar crooned the “Confessions” deep cut, Naomi strutted with the same fierce confidence that’s made her one of the most recognizable faces in fashion.

Draped in a shimmering silver mini dress, the English-born star oozed elegance and power. She wore her hair sleek and pulled back with barely any makeup on and just a few silver bangles, letting her iconic cheekbones do all the talking.
Usher matched the moment in a massive fur coat before hitting the choreography fans came to see. The two shared the spotlight with electric chemistry, bringing nostalgic flair to the night with a track that initially dropped two decades ago.

Fans on social media deservingly gave the veteran model her flowers, including one X user who wrote, “Naomi still giving the new girls a run for their money with those legs and that walk.”
Another person commented, “Ohhh, that walk will forever be nasty,” accompanied by three fire emojis.

Kandi Burruss Made Nearly $3 Million After Leaving 'The Real Housewives' Franchise
Kandi Burruss made a pretty coin during her time on "The Real Housewives of Atlanta." But after her latest accomplishment, it's clear her success isn't only tied to the longstanding reality program.
In 2024, Kandi Burruss revealed she was leaving "RHOA" after 15 years to pursue other projects. In March 2025, it was revealed that one of her endeavors earned her nearly $3 million.

In August 2024, it was revealed that Burruss, who rose to fame in the '90s as part of the girl group XSCAPE, would join the producing team for Broadway's "Othello."
The Shakespearean tragedy, which stars legends like Denzel Washington and Jake Gyllenhaal, has become the highest-grossing play in Broadway history after bringing in $2.8 million for eight performances, per The Hollywood Reporter.
"Othello" opened at the Ethel Barrymore Theatre in New York City on March 23 and will continue its limited engagement run through early June 2025.

The production tells the story of Othello, a general in the Venetian army whose marriage is turned upside down when his supposedly trustworthy ensign suggests the former's wife could be cheating on him. According to the show's official synopsis, it's a story of "tragedy of revenge, jealousy, and intrigue."
While chatting with Waymaker Journal about her expansive career, Burruss opened up about how "Othello" differs from shows with a similar theme.

According to her, the 2025 production of the story isn't like the others. "It's starring Denzel Washington. It's set in 2028. The clothes are modern. The delivery feels real and passionate. You can see yourself in it — even though they're still using Shakespeare's words," she said.
Burruss also explained why producing such a show means so much to her as a businesswoman of color.
"In the opportunities that I get, I'm always trying to elevate and make way for more opportunity for people like myself. For Black people, people of color, and women," she said. "We had people coming to New York to see a show [who'd never been to Broadway before]... We're not just waiting for the people who already go to shows. We're making our shows the destination."
Burruss' producing credit for "Othello" isn't the first time the entertainment juggernaut has had her name tied to a Broadway production.

While appearing on later seasons of "RHOA," the "Understanding" singer shared behind-the-scenes glimpses into what went into producing her first show, "Thoughts of a Colored Man."
Later, she added another producing credit to her resume by working on the revival of "The Wiz," which first starred big names like Diana Ross and Michael Jackson.
However, it doesn't end there. Before taking on backstage work, she starred in "Chicago" as Mama Matron Morton, a musical other "Real Housewives" and Bravo stars have been in, including NeNe Leakes, Lisa Rinna, Erika Jayne, and "Vanderpump Rules'" Ariana Madix.

In a previous interview, Burruss reflected on her stint on the hit reality show "RHOA." After joining the cast during its second season in 2009, the Grammy-winning singer and songwriter became a mainstay, holding a peach until the end of season 15.
While chatting with Sherri Shepherd on her show "Sherri," the reality star, who also appeared in "Celebrity Big Brother" and "The Masked Singer," seemingly didn't have any regrets about leaving her role on the show in her rearview.
In fact, she admitted she was "more than excited" to move on to other things.
Could Burruss ever return to the series in the future? Possibly. But as of right now, she's focused on her goals. "I have big dreams, y'all," she said. "Y'all know I want to win a Tony [Award]."

In addition to her work on Broadway, Burruss has remained booked and busy.
Recently, the mother of three wrapped up a role on the scripted television series "The Chi," where she played Roselyn Perry, a sharp political strategist. She also appeared in season 2 of Hulu's legal drama "Reasonable Doubt."
Amid all of that, the powerhouse star has continued pitching and creating reality shows, like "Kandi & The Gang" and "SWV & Xscape: The Queens of R&B."

Last Thursday (April 3), the Spice Girl celebrated the birthday of her second child, Angel Murphy Brown, who goes by he/him/his pronouns. In the Instagram carousel were pictures of Mel B, Angel and a photo they took with Sofía Vergara.

"HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO MY ANGEL !!! I cannot believe youre 18 You are so special and so bright and so talented!!" Mel captioned the post. I couldnt be prouder of watching you grow and become the person you are but youll forever be my babyyyy."

"He apologizes to this day about that," Mel B told Piers Morgan on his Life Stories show. "He wishes he never said it because that baby was planned; we planned that baby together, and we were madly in love, and it just went wrong, dramatically went wrong."

Madonna Ends Decades-Long Feud With Elton John After Confronting Him On 'SNL'
Madonna and Elton John have long been celebrated as icons of pop music, but their relationship has been marred by a public feud that began in 2002. Over the years, the two have exchanged numerous barbs, with John criticizing Madonna's work and accusing her of lip-syncing.
However, all of that changed when the two legends met backstage at "Saturday Night Live" (SNL) over the weekend. The reconciliation took place when Madonna visited John, who was the musical guest on "SNL" alongside Brandi Carlile.

In a heartfelt Instagram post, Madonna shared a photo of the two hugging, announcing, "We Finally Buried the Hatchet!!!"
She recalled sneaking out as a teenager to see John perform live, an experience that transformed her life and inspired her to become an artist. When she confronted John backstage, the first words out of his mouth were "Forgive me," dissolving the wall between them.

John also expressed regret over his past comments. "Thank you for coming to see me at SNL," he wrote in the comments of Madonna's post. "And thank you for forgiving me and my big mouth. I'm not proud of what I said."
He praised Madonna's groundbreaking work and her advocacy for HIV/AIDS awareness. He highlighted her role in paving the way for female artists and stressed the importance of unity in a divisive world.

Their feud had notable moments, such as John's infamous accusation at the 2004 Q Awards, where he criticized Madonna for winning Best Live Act, stating, "Since when has lip-synching been live?"
The rivalry even played out at the Golden Globes in 2012 when Madonna beat John for Best Original Song, prompting John's husband, David Furnish, to publicly disparage her victory. Despite these clashes, both artists have now turned a new page.

Madonna revealed that John had written a song for her and expressed his desire to collaborate, a gesture indicating their newfound camaraderie. "It was like everything came full circle," she wrote, echoing lyrics from John's famous song, "And you can tell everybody, this is your song."
As these two legends move on from their tumultuous past, they set an example of reconciliation in a world often divided by conflict. Their reunion underscores the power of forgiveness and unity, offering a hopeful message for both their fans and the broader community.

Boosie Badass 'Banged Up' After Scary Car Crash Leaves Multiple People Injured
Rapper Boosie Badazz was recently caught in a multi-vehicle car crash on Interstate 95 in Georgia, near exit 67 in McIntosh County, approximately 35 miles south of Savannah. The accident left multiple people hurt, prompting emergency responders to rush to the chaotic scene filled with wreckage and injured individuals lying on the pavement.

Initial reports suggested that Boosie was driving one of the vehicles and had allegedly run a red light at high speed, leading to the collision. Eyewitnesses at the scene supported this claim of reckless driving. However, new information has emerged, clarifying Boosie's role in the accident.
According to journalist Loren Lorosa, Boosie was not the driver of the vehicle involved in the accident. Lorosa claimed, "I just spoke to Boosie's publicist who confirmed to me that BOOSIE WASN'T HURT IN THE CAR ACCIDENT today that took place in Georgia."

Lorosa further detailed that Boosie was a passenger and not the owner of the car. "Boosie only went to the hospital to be sure the driver was ok," she wrote.
The rapper himself addressed the incident on Facebook, reassuring his fans by writing, "IM GOOD. BANGED UP. BUT GOOD. [Prayer hands emoji] GOD GOT ME." This statement from Boosie comes as a relief to his supporters and followers.

The full extent of the injuries sustained by the other individuals involved in the accident remains unclear, as there has been no official word regarding their condition.
This accident happened just days after Boosie celebrated the upcoming arrival of his ninth child with a lavish baby shower.
In the wake of this unsettling event, it serves as a reminder of the unpredictability of life and the importance of road safety. We wish a speedy recovery to all those affected and hope for better days ahead.

Beyoncé Celebrates Cécred Haircare Line Debut at Ulta Beauty
*Beyoncé and her mother, Tina Knowles, shared a new promotional video for the Cécred haircare line, celebrating its debut at Ulta Beauty.
The Instagram video, posted on a Sunday, shows Beyoncé applying the brand’s $44 nourishing hair oil to her lengthy blonde tresses. She then handed the bottle to her mother, who serves as the vice chairwoman of Cécred. Ms. Tina passed the oil to other staff members, symbolizing a relay that concluded with the product landing on an Ulta Beauty shelf.

The caption announced the line’s availability at Ulta Beauty stores and online: “Operation get @cecred at @ultabeauty is officially COMPLETE, with the help of the big boss and founder, @beyonce!”

Cécred launched in 2024 and offers an array of haircare products like a $31 Hydrating Shampoo, a $38 Clarifying Shampoo & Scalp Scrub, and a $39 Moisturizing Deep Conditioner.
As we reported previously, Beyoncé is not the first celebrity to recently enter the world of hair care. In 2019, Tracee Ellis Ross launched Pattern, a now-award-winning natural hairline focused on “curl-conscious and textured” customers. Two years later, “Friends” star Jennifer Aniston – whose shiny, face-framing layers became known as “The Rachel” haircut on TikTok – launched a line of vegan and cruelty-free hair products called LolaVie.

“There is power in community, and I saw that growing up the daughter of a salon owner,” Beyoncé told Harper’s Bazaar in 2021. “I was exposed to so many entrepreneurial women that I admired. Doctors, business owners, artists, teachers, mothers — they all came through my mom’s salon. I saw firsthand how a salon can be a sanctuary for women.”

“I’ve seen how much Black women’s emotions are attached to our hair and beauty,” Bey added. “The beauty industry does not always understand these emotions and what we need. I want to build a community where women of all races can communicate and share some of those secrets, so we can continue to support and take care of each other. I want to give women a space to feel their strength and tell their stories. That is power.”

Kevin Hart's Son Hendrix, 17, Towers Over Him in New Photo as the Actor Jokes He's 'Not Sure When This Happened': 'Pisses Me Off'

The comedian, 45, shared a photo of himself and his 17-year-old son Hendrix on Instagram on Sunday, April 6, as the two posed together on a beach. Hart could be seen on the right, wearing a backwards baseball cap and a watch, putting his arm around his son.
Hendrix posed on the left, covering his face with one hand and standing almost a head taller than his dad. "Not sure when this happened but it happened…." Hart wrote in his caption. "He’s officially towering over me 😂😂😂😂."

"S— pisses me off …. But I love the kid to death… My guuuuuyyyy #Harts," he added
The Think Like A Man alum shares his older kids, son Hendrix and daughter Heaven, 19, with his ex-wife, Torrei Hart. After splitting from Torrei in 2011, Hart married Eniko Hart. They went on to welcome daughter Kaori, 4, and son Kenzo, 7.

Speaking with PEOPLE at the New York City premiere of Apple TV+'s Number One on the Call Sheet in early March, Hart opened up about his fatherhood journey. The father of four told PEOPLE that he prays that all of the "crash courses" he gives his kids are steering them in the right direction.

"I just can hope and pray that I'm being the best example possible," the Lift star told PEOPLE. "I think as parents we all give crash courses and what we deem to be education or great direction. You can only hope that your kids are picking up as much as you're putting down."
"It all does click at a certain time for children, especially as they become young adults," he continued. "You can hope when it's all said and done ... that all that information comes into play at some point. I can just hope and pray that the example that I think I'm being is the example that I really am being and all my time and all my energy that I'm throwing to them on a day to day is not going unnoticed."

At the premiere, he told PEOPLE that above all else, Hart simply wants his kids to be happy.
"I think I have very good kids, well-mannered kids, but most importantly happy kids," the actor shared. "My kids are very happy with life. They're happy with love, and that love that they're happy with is love that they try to give others," he says. "I hope that that stays true and I hope they stay consistent."
