Bowen Yang is unsurprisingly, a total delight. From SNL to LAS CULTURISTAS to his role in the highly anticipated Wicked adaptation alongside Ariana Grande and Cynthia Erivo, Bowen Yang has made himself a force in multiple media genres in a fairly short amount of time. In a new interview and photoshoot with InStyle, SNL star Bowen Yang offers an inside look at what makes a good SNL host, his approach for managing chaos and building confidence as an actor, and what he does on his one day off a week during the SNL season.
On his transition from striving for perfectionism to embracing the unexpected: “I think I’ve loosened my grip a little recently,” he explains. “I would go into each season with so many promises to myself or really concrete, maybe overly defined goals. I’m trying to not be as self-prescriptive or stubborn with myself because then it leaves room for surprise and delight.” “I’m really starting to believe in this idea that inspiration and genius strike you when you’re open to it, not forcing it,” he says. “And even—I’m going to bring her up—Taylor Swift has described this thing where she’s said songwriting is this cloud that’s in front of you, and you have to catch it and get it down on paper before it goes away. That’s exactly what it is, and I think everyone at SNL has an experience with engaging with that thing of Oh, it’s here. It’s right in front of us and it’s going to disappear if we don’t get this down. That’s a pretty incredible process to go through.”
On the tiring SNL schedule and why he’s all about “bed rot” on his day off: “On the seesaw, where it’s stressful and it’s fun and those [things] may be on opposite ends, the fun should be the thing that has more weight,” he says. “The stress is inevitable, but, water off a duck’s back; focus on what underpins this whole thing.” Although Yang’s plan for his day off (which during a week when SNL is in production is exclusively Sunday), suggests the stress has at least some weight: “Not to bring up this Gen Z phenomenon but it is, like, bed rot,” he says. “I pray everyone across the staff and personnel at SNL is doing what I’m doing on Sunday.”
On how his co-stars on Nora From Queens helped build his confidence as an actor: “It was me, Akwafina [who plays Nora], BD Wong [who plays Nora’s father], and Lori Tan Chinn [who plays Nora’s grandmother], just at a restaurant. And I was eating the food and swallowing it every take. And all three of these people, different generations of actors, were like, ‘No, no, no, no, no, you can’t do that. You’re going to throw up. You need to ask for the spit bucket and spit it out.’ And it never occurred to me that that existed. It was just these basic things that, in the spirit of generosity and care and love, everyone was like, ‘No, you sweet little zygote, you don’t know what you’re doing.’” The experience helped boost his confidence about appearing on other shows. “[Being on shows] is a series of not knowing what you don’t know and then knowing what you do and then trying to figure out how to make the two coexist,” he says.
On his upcoming role in Wicked alongside Ariana Grande and Cynthia Erivo: “I’ve really scammed my way through Hollywood,” Yang says of this foray into singing. “Because after Wicked comes out, I’ll be in two musicals where I sing for maybe five seconds total. Now, how did I get away with this? People are going to be mad.”

One person cried out: "Disgusting. She’s scraping the bottom of the barrel."
One echoed: "It's terribly odd behavior. I mean yuck."
And one person blasted: "I know you have to know how cringe it is; there’s a reason you turned off the comments."
Many fans went on to accuse Kim of using her kids for a clickbait paycheck - especially in light of her recent money woes and divorce proceedings.

The Cincinnati Music Festival is making sure that they’re on music lovers’ radar for next summer. The annual event that has been a staple in Cincinnati since 1962 will be returning in July 2024, and organizers have given us an early Christmas present by revealing a blockbuster roster of talent already scheduled.
The 2024 Cincinnati Music Festival is on and popping between Thursday, July 25, 2024 through Saturday, July 27, 2024. The festival boasts headliners New Edition and Maxwell among the first round of performers to be announced. After NE completes their New Edition Las Vegas residency in the spring, they’ve got Cincy on their summer itinerary with all six members – Ronnie DeVoe, Bobby Brown, Ricky Bell, Michael Bivins, Ralph Tresvant and Johnny Gill – on tap to perform. Maxwell, meanwhile, will embark on his Urban Hang Suite Cruise in February, and this festival date is thus far his only other performance on the books for next year.
While the complete lineup for the 2024 Cincinnati Music Festival is still being finalized, Thursday’s kickoff will be A Celebration Of Hip-Hop at the Brady Music Center. After celebrating the 50th anniversary of hip-hop during this past summer’s festival with a who’s who of legends such as Snoop Dogg, Slick Rick, Doug E. Fresh, Rakim and Big Daddy Kane, we suspect that whoever is booked next year will come correct.

Fat Joe recently claimed that he lied in “95 percent” of his raps amid controversy over lyrics being used in court cases, and now he’s closing the loop with the other five percent.
Taking to Instagram on Tuesday (December 13), Joey Crack shared a throwback photo of himself in the streets of the Bronx pointing a gun at the camera. “This was the other 5%,” he captioned the post alongside a laughing emoji.
His fellow rap peers laughed with him in the comments, with Cam’ron posting laughing emojis and Memphis Bleek writing: “That 5% matters the most,” also with laughing emojis. Fabolous also commented: “5% Gat Joe.”
Late last month, Fat Joe defended Young Thug by claiming that he’s lied in most of the songs he’s released throughout his career. During a CNN interview with Gayle King, the Bronx rapper said it’s a “travesty” that Thugga’s lyrics can be used against him in the ongoing YSL RICO case.
“I’ve been rapping professionally for 30 years — I’ve lied in almost 95 percent of my songs,” he began. “I’m being honest. I write like I feel that day. I’m just being creative. You couldn’t build a jail high enough for the lyrics I’ve said on songs which are all untrue.”
He went on: “What I am is a family man, the person who gives back to my community all the time, opens businesses in my community. So the music would never amount to the actual person, Joseph Cartagena.
“What’s even more horrible is that the district attorneys, they know those lyrics ain’t real. They know that’s creativity. But if it helps their case, they’ll use it to put these guys in jail.
“And here, we’re having a fun show about it and discussion, but there really is six defendants in Atlanta who might spend the rest of their lives in jail for something that’s totally not true. This is very serious. This destroys families.”
After people questioned his authenticity amid the admission, Fat Joe added further context. In explaining himself, he pointed out that MCs “move off of inspiration,” switching between a range of emotions such as anger, love, peace and tranquility.
“I had to say 95 percent of what I say is a lie so that they can understand that it’s unfair to try some kids for the rest of their life with shit they might’ve not done,” he said. “What you gotta understand is that it’s creativity […] now if I say I use my imagination, my creativity in my music don’t mean I ain’t live a real fuckin’ life in the streets.”

“I think that was much further past after our working relationship,” Leslie said, speaking to the two dating back in the early 2000’s. He also teased future live performances from Cassie, adding, “The last conversation we had, she’s planning for a tour.”
Cassie signed to Ryan Leslie’s NextSelection Lifestyle Group in 2005, ahead of him writing her biggest single “Me & U” from her self-titled debut album. The two dated for a while before she eventually started dating Diddy, which went on for over a decade.
In November of this year, Cassie filed a civil suit against the “Gotta Move On” artist under New York’s Adult Survivors Act. The case, which was filed and settled within 24 hours last month, alleged that Combs mentally and physically abused her, sex trafficked and sexually assaulted her, and more.
Since news broke, Combs’ character has been disgraced through various videos, testimonies, photos, and more surfacing the web from his former personnel, signed artists, and other employees.
The 54-year-old’s legal team has maintained his innocence, insisting that the lawsuit was “riddled with baseless and outrageous lies, aiming to tarnish Mr. Combs’ reputation and seeking a payday.” On Instagram, Diddy recently opened up about allegations made against him.
“Enough is enough,” he wrote in a statement on Instagram earlier this month. “For the last couple of weeks, I have sat silently and watched people try to assassinate my character, destroy my reputation and my legacy. Sickening allegations have been made against me by individuals looking for a quick payday. Let me be absolutely clear: I did not do any of the awful things being alleged. I will fight for my name, my family and for the truth.”
Diddy has also reportedly been dismissed from 18 business partnerships amid multiple sexual assault allegations coming to light, Rolling Stone reported. The brands have ended their relationships with Diddy’s Empower Global project, which is an e-commerce platform that focuses on uplifting Black-owned companies.
Some of the brands that have departed include Tsuri, Nuudii System, No One Clothiers, Fulaba, and House of Takura.

Sean ‘Diddy’ Combs Hulu Reality Series No Longer in Production
Hulu has scrapped a reality show that was to follow Sean “Diddy” Combs and his family, according to a new report in Rolling Stone. Though it’s not clear when Hulu stopped making the show, the report comes after multiple allegations of sexual assault and abuse were lodged against the rapper and entrepreneur over the past month.
The project, which reportedly had a working title of Diddy+7, was being produced for Hulu by James Corden‘s production company, Fulwell 73, which also works on The Kardashians. A source with knowledge of the situation tells Billboard the show was in its nascent stages and is not currently in production.
Combs has been sued for sexual assault by a total of four women, including his longtime romantic partner, R&B singer Cassie, who accused him of rape and physical abuse, among other allegations. Though that case settled the day after it was filed, Combs was subsequently sued by three more women, all Jane Does, who say the hip-hop mogul sexually assaulted them. In the most recent case filed, the woman says she was “sex trafficked” and “gang raped” by Combs, former Bad Boy Records president Harve Pierre and another man in 2003 when she was 17. A separate case over that alleged incident was filed against Pierre and Bad Boy alleging sexual assault.
Combs has strongly denied all of the allegations; on Dec. 6, he released a public statement that said in part: “Sickening allegations have been made against me by individuals looking for a quick payday. Let me be absolutely clear: I did not do any of the awful things being alleged. I will fight for my name, my family and for the truth.”
In the aftermath of the allegations, Combs stepped down from his role as chairman at Black music TV company REVOLT on Nov. 28. The company simultaneously released a statement saying that while Combs “had previously no operational or day-to-day role in the business, this decision helps ensure that REVOLT remains steadfastly focused on our mission to create meaningful content for the culture and amplify the voices of all Black people throughout this country and the African diaspora.”
According to Rolling Stone, a total of 23 brands have severed ties with Combs’ e-commerce marketplace Empower Global, which officially launched in July, since the allegations came out. The outlet also reports that in the wake of the lawsuits, liquor company Diageo — with which Combs has been embroiled in a bitter legal battle over his DeLeon Tequila brand for months — filed a request asking a judge to deny Combs’ request to control a $15 million marketing budget for DeLeon, which would entail his image appearing in new ads for the spirit.

Oprah Winfrey has insisted her weight loss drug use is part of a balanced health and fitness regime. The 69-year-old chat show veteran shocked fans by admitting to PEOPLE she has been on pharmaceuticals to control her figure as she considers them a "tool" for life, and hit out at trolls by saying she was sick of body "shaming."
But she also stressed to the publication about the meds being part of a balanced lifestyle choice. "It's everything. I know everybody thought I was on it, but I worked so damn hard. I know that if I'm not also working out and vigilant about all the other things, it doesn't work for me," she revealed.
Oprah added she has been hiking to help her reach her fitness goals, adding, "I could eventually hike three to five miles every day and a 10-mile straight-up hike on weekends. I felt stronger, more fit and more alive than I'd felt in years."
The entrepreneur sparked speculation she was on weight loss medication after sporting a slimmer figure during a recent press tour. She initially dodged admitting she had used meds, telling Entertainment Tonight, "Well it's not one thing, it's everything … and I intend to keep it that way." Oprah also said she had been "on that treadmill."
But the presenter told PEOPLE about being on the medication, "I now use it as I feel I need it, as a tool to manage not yo-yoing. The fact that there's a medically approved prescription for managing weight and staying healthier, in my lifetime, feels like relief, like redemption, like a gift, and not something to hide behind and once again be ridiculed for."
Turning to trolls, she added, "I'm absolutely done with the shaming from other people and particularly myself." The "Color Purple" actress did not disclose exactly which drug she took or whether it was diabetes medication Ozempic, which has become a favorite weight loss drug for Hollywood stars.
She added she is not yet at her goal weight of 160 pounds, but insisted her aims are not just "about the number." Oprah said, "It was a second shot for me to live a more vital and vibrant life."

Tiffany Haddish will face two misdemeanor charges after allegedly falling asleep behind the wheel of a vehicle, PEOPLE can confirm.
The comedian, 44, was arrested in the early hours of Nov. 24 after the Beverly Hills Police Department responded to a call about a woman who was stopped in the middle of Beverly Drive while the vehicle was running.
The night prior, Haddish had performed at the Laugh Factory in West Hollywood in honor of its free Thanksgiving feast, according to TMZ.
On Wednesday, the Los Angeles County District Attorney's Office confirmed to PEOPLE that the Girls Trip star was charged with one misdemeanor count of driving under the influence of alcohol and a misdemeanor count of driving with .08% blood alcohol content. Her arraignment and plea is scheduled for Dec. 22.
Hours after her arrest, Haddish performed in a previously scheduled stand-up show at the Laugh Factory in Long Beach, California, and addressed the situation, according to audio obtained by TMZ from an audience member.
In the recording, Haddish is asked what happened "last night" and jokingly replies, "You tell me." She adds, "I had prayed to God to send me a man with a job, career, preferably in a uniform, and I answered my prayers."

The news comes after she was arrested in Georgia for a suspected DUI and improper stopping on a roadway in January 2022.
"Subsequent investigation led to Ms. Tiffany Haddish being arrested for Driving Under the Influence," police told PEOPLE at the time. "She was transported to the Fayette County Jail without incident."
Haddish told Entertainment Tonight in an interview published on Nov. 27. that she is "going to get some help so I can learn balance and boundaries."
Of her arrest, she explained to the outlet that her Tesla had self-parked when she fell asleep and was blocking a part of the street when officers arrived. The Here Today actress also complimented how the Beverly Hills police handled the situation and said that she was in good spirits.
While marking her 44th birthday earlier this month, Haddish wrote an Instagram tribute post to herself in which she said she is "ready for my next chapter in life."
The actress will open up about her life in her second book, I Curse You With Joy, which will feature a collection of essays and stories and will be published in May 2024 from Diversion Books.
"I'm so excited to share the rollercoaster of success that I've been on with my readers and to show them that just because I'm famous, that doesn't mean I'm not human. I find the joy in the hardest things in life which you'll all be able to read about in this new book," Haddish told PEOPLE in an exclusive statement.

Mathew Knowles' memoir to be turned into a feature film and TV series
On Tuesday (Dec. 12), Variety reported that Mathew Knowles‘ memoir, “Racism From the Eyes of a Child,” will be turned into both a feature film and television series. Released in 2017, said book centered on the the music manager’s upbringing in pre-civil rights Alabama.
“‘RFEC’ is a personal reflection on racism in America through a childhood lived through the country’s most separate past,” read its official synopsis. “Growing up during the burgeoning civil rights movement, music mogul Mathew Knowles experienced one of many firsts, from integrating all-white schools in the south, up through the corporate, and later music, world. Knowles examines the backdrop of discrimination by tracing his family’s roots from post-slavery up through the civil rights era on into the present racial climate.”
Partnering with Say Unkel Entertainment, the aforementioned film will cover the first half of the literary piece, which will recount pivotal moments in Knowles’ life, including being burned with a cattle prod and being arrested four times in one day. It will also detail how monumental figures like Martin Luther King Jr., Albert Turner, and Ralph Abernathy helped to shape Knowles into the man he is today.
As previously reported, Knowles revealed to Entertainment Tonight that he still serves as manager for Destiny’s Child, of which his daughter, BeyoncΓ©, is an original member. On the possibility of the iconic group creating another body of work, he stated, “It’s a decision that the ladies would have to make… I think the fans will be just overjoyed, overwhelmed. And hopefully they do one last time in their career. Hopefully they give us one last album. Who knows? You never know. You never say it can’t happen. Because this is entertainment. A lot of things can happen.”
He also spoke on being “extremely grateful” for Destiny’s Child‘s success. “They work so hard for their dreams to come true,” he added. “So you can only have gratitude. And that’s what I have.”
Draymond Green suspended indefinitely by NBA for swinging at Suns C Jusuf NurkiΔ
Draymond Green was suspended indefinitely by the NBA on Wednesday after the Golden State Warriors veteran's ejection for swinging at Phoenix Suns center Jusuf NurkiΔ on Tuesday night, marking Green’s second suspension this season.
In its announcement, the league said Green will "be required to meet certain league and team conditions before he returns to play." It's unclear what that means specifically or how long Green will be out. The league took "into account Green's repeated history of unsportsmanlike acts" when determining this suspension, it said.
Green, according to ESPN's Adrian Wojnarowski, is expected to meet with Warriors general manager Mike Dunleavy and Green's agent Thursday to start discussing a "path of counseling and help for Green to move forward."
In the third quarter of the Warriors’ 119-116 loss to the Suns on Tuesday night in Phoenix, Green started jostling with NurkiΔ for position on an inbounds play. Then suddenly, seemingly out of nowhere, Green spun around and swung. He hit NurkiΔ directly in his face with his right hand, which sent the 7-footer to the court.
Green was quickly assessed a foul, which was upgraded to a flagrant 2. As a result, he was ejected from the game.
"I am not one to apologize for things I mean to do, but I do apologize to Jusuf because I didn't intend to hit him," Green said after the game, via ESPN. "I sell calls with my arms ... so I was selling the call ... and I swung and unfortunately I hit him."
NurkiΔ said Green's swing "had nothing to do with basketball." Suns coach Frank Vogel slammed Green after the game, too, calling his move "a reckless, dangerous play."
"I'm sensitive to our guys getting hit on plays like that," Vogel said, via ESPN. "I didn't like it. The refs did what they had to do. The league will do what they have to do."
This latest incident came just weeks after Green returned from his previous five-game suspension, which he was hit with after he put Minnesota Timberwolves forward Rudy Gobert into a chokehold. Green, with that in-season tournament game last month still tied 0-0, flew in and put Gobert into a chokehold after Timberwolves forward Jaden McDaniels and Warriors guard Klay Thompson got into it, which sparked a larger altercation.
Green did not apologize for his actions after that game, and said he would always defend his teammates, but admitted there “is room for growth and I need to be better in those moments in different situations.”
Green was suspended for “escalating an on-court altercation” after the chokehold incident, which was decided in part due to Green’s “history of unsportsmanlike acts.” The NBA used the same rationale with this suspension.
This latest suspension is now Green’s sixth of his career. He was suspended last postseason after he stomped on the chest of Sacramento Kings forward Domantas Sabonis. Green now has 18 regular-season ejections in his career, which is the most among any active player in the league. He’s been ejected three times already this season or 20% of the games he's played in.
Green entered Tuesday’s game averaging 9.7 points, 5.8 assists and 5.5 rebounds this season, his 12th in the league. With the loss to the Suns, the Warriors have dropped to 10-13. They'll next take on the Los Angeles Clippers on Thursday night, without Green.
Trevor Noah Announces He Will Host the Grammy Awards 2024
Trevor Noah has a very exciting announcement! During a Wednesday (December 13) episode of his podcast What Now? With Trevor, the 39-year-old comedian revealed that he will be hosting the 2024 Grammys.
He previously hosted the the 63rd, 64th and 65th Grammys, so he’s somewhat of an expert at this point.
Trevor reacted to the news during the episode.
“I’m excited about that,” he shared on his podcast. “It’s a lot of fun. I enjoy the Grammys because I get to watch the show in person and then just experience and comment on it in person while it is happening.”
The 2024 Grammys will air on CBS and will also be available to stream live and on-demand on Paramount+ on February 4.

It's almost time to bring back TV's biggest night! But the star-studded bash couldn't commence without the perfect host.
On Wednesday, Fox and the Television Academy announced that Anthony Anderson will be stepping in to host the 75th annual Emmy Awards. The three-hour ceremony will be broadcast live from the Peacock Theater at L.A. LIVE in downtown Los Angeles on Jan. 15, which is Martin Luther King Jr. Day.
Anderson, who has received seven consecutive Emmy nominations for outstanding lead actor in a comedy series, is succeeding Kenan Thompson after the Saturday Night Live star hosted the event in 2022.
"With our industry's recent challenges behind us, we can get back to what we love — dressing up and honoring ourselves," Anderson, 53, said in a statement. "And there's no better celebratory moment to bring the creative community together than the milestone 75th Emmy Awards."
The former Black-ish star added, "When FOX asked me to host this historic telecast, I was over the moon that Taylor Swift was unavailable, and now I can't wait to be part of the biggest night in television."
Emmy nominations were announced in July. At the time, Succession dominated with a whopping 27 nominations. But The Last of Us, The White Lotus and Ted Lasso racked up several nods as well.
The ceremony was initially intended to commence in September. However, strikes from the Writers Guild of America (WGA) and the Screen Actors Guild and the American Federation of Television and Radio Artists (SAG-AFTRA) initially delayed the event.
After weeks of picketing, both organizations eventually reached an agreement with the Alliance of Motion Picture and Television Producers (AMPTP), allowing for business to proceed as usual.
The 75th Emmy Awards will air on Jan. 15 at 8:00 p.m. ET on FOX. It will also be available to stream on Hulu the next day.

Amy Entelis, CNN’s executive vice president for talent and content development, said previously that the show offers a twist to the traditional news show format.
“‘King Charles’ is different than anything we have on CNN’s lineup,” Entelis said in responses to questions provided by email, CNN reports. “It’s not a newscast, but rather a talk show centered around the news stories and cultural moments that Gayle and Charles are most interested in.”
Insiders told the National Enquirer that King expects Barkley to remain quiet about what goes on behind the scenes of their talk show. As Radar reports, the tea spiller said, “There’s still some apprehension because she knows how Charles loves to gab and name-drop about his famous friends.”
The source added, “He’s been doing it for years, bragging about his associations with Michael Jordan and others. It may seem harmless enough on the surface — but for Gayle, it’s a time bomb waiting to happen!”
In a memo, CNN bossman Chris Licht reportedly told staffers that King and Barkley’s show will be “an exciting new way we are delivering culturally relevant programming and unique perspectives to our audience, from two incredibly dynamic personalities.”
As Radar reports, an insider told the National Enquirer that “Gayle enjoys being breezy and conversational but she still considers herself a serious journalist,” while “Charles has a style he’s honed as a TV sports commentator — boastful, outrageous and always with an opinion, even if it isn’t factual and he knows little to nothing about the topic!”
“CNN wants this show to be something everyone talks about, but Gayle doesn’t want it to be at the expense of her reputation,” an insider said, per RadarOnline.
“Gayle tells Charles he should really study up on serious topics they discuss on their King Charles show and really pore over the producer’s notes to bone up on a subject,” the source revealed, Radar reports. “But Charles is like, ‘I gotta be me!'”
