#MAGFAB: Katie Holmes For GLAMOUR April 2023
Katie Holmes covers the April 2023 issue of GLAMOUR Magazine photographed by Christine Hahn.
On directing a scene in her new film, Rare Objects, depicting sexual violence, as a woman: What was most important to me was what it did to [Benita] in the aftermath. To me, unfortunately, [sexual assault] is an understood secret amongst women, so we don’t have to share too much to know what we’re talking about. And I also felt like that. Julia [Mayorga] was so incredible in that scene, and that was really a difficult one to shoot because I just needed her face. I kept telling both of the actors, “It’s your faces.” And so they had to really go there. Everybody was pretty shaken up after.
On coming of age while filming Dawson’s Creek 25 years ago: I was just 18 when we started, and I really appreciated the writing because I felt like, as a teenager, I had so many different feelings, trying to go from being a girl to a woman. And I felt like [creator Kevin Williamson] had this way of putting words to those feelings. So for me, playing that role, I was like, Oh, that’s what that means. Oh, I get that. I loved doing it. It was a really fun, profound experience.

On the continued cultural relevance of Dawson’s Creek: In some ways, yes. Some ways, no. We had our big episode where Jack comes out and I’m so glad we had that episode, and I’m so sad that that is what was happening for people. And I’m so glad that it’s not happening, hopefully, to that extent in today’s world. But I think it [was also] just this combination of Wilmington, North Carolina—so beautiful. There was that sense of innocence. Kevin wrote the simplicity of teen emotions really well.
On not being boxed into playing the same character over and over: I didn’t want to be the sexy young thing. I am not sexy. I used to have a friend of mine come to all my photo shoots to make sure that they didn’t try to make me that way.

On the role that never was: The [2002] movie 40 Days and 40 Nights. Originally, there was a read-through, and it was going to be me and Ashton Kutcher and [American Pie star and Holmes’s The Wanderers costar] Eddie Kaye Thomas. And I didn’t know this, Eddie just told me, but he had gotten into a fender bender on the way to the table read and the reading just didn’t go well. There were executives and all that, and you could just feel it. I remember leaving going, “Oh my God, what just happened?” It wasn’t meant to be. They ended up making it with another cast.

On working with her teenage daughter: I hope she always does something on my films. I always ask her. But both of those experiences came out of the same sense of what I love about our industry, which is, you have these projects and you become a family with people. And it’s this safe, beautiful, creative space. So it comes out of love for me to include someone who I love dearly. That’s how I like to work. I like to have that kind of feeling. It was very meaningful to me to have her there, because she’s my heart.
On what’s next for her career: Well, I’m putting together two films right now. One is a smaller one that Alan Cumming and I wrote together, and it’ll be the two of us. And then another project that I’ll just direct and we’re figuring out casting. I’m always trying to find stories. It’s so exciting to have a voice as a woman and put our perspective out there. You reach a certain age and you’re like, I think this is interesting. I finally have the confidence to be like, “No, I think I’m going to say this. I think I’m going to do this.”

#RHOA: What you think? Fans Say Phaedra Parks Looks ‘Almost Unrecognizable’ In New Vacation Photos
Phaedra Parks’ latest photos have fans questioning what happened to the real Southern belle.
The mother of two appears to be enjoying a much-needed vacation out in Lisbon, Portugal, and she gave fans a sneak peek at her excursions on Instagram.

In several photos, Parks can be seen looking like royalty as she rocks a lavender bodysuit while a long purple fur coat shielded her shoulders.
“The Real Housewives of Atlanta” alum decided to rock a blond wig with dark roots, which blended perfectly with her full face of makeup.

“Always on point with @thepointsguy @briankelly #BK40,” she wrote before shouting out her photographer, Leslie Kenney.

Parks’ post received over 24,000 likes, with over 480 comments from fans who were taken aback by her beauty.
“Now THIS your on point with”
“Looking so beautiful and blessed”

While several commenters positively recognized Parks’ gorgeous look, a few critics focused their aim on her face, suggesting that she doesn’t look like normal herself anymore.

“You’re starting to not look like you.  Love you but love your original look more”
“Stop messing with your face! This must be some type of addiction because once they change one thing on their face they can’t stop”

“Who dis woman? Lol”
“Phaedra you almost unrecognizable when the old clips run !! Wow”
Despite fans’ insinuations about the lawyer undergoing plastic surgery on her face, there were some pleased comments about her joining the cast of “Married to Medicine.”

“Your going be the best dress on Married to Medicine,” wrote one person, while another asked, “Is this a cast trip 4 m2m?”
Last month, reports confirmed that Parks was joining the cast of “Married to Medicine” after two months of hearsay. In a Twitter photo shared by one of the show’s original cast members, Dr. Heavelny Kimes, Parks looks rather comfortable posing with the dentist and Dr. Jacqueline Walters, who also stars on the Bravo show.
While it’s unclear exactly who Parks is linked to, the 49-year-old has previously revealed that she is dating a mystery boo who happens to be a doctor.

At the 2022 BravoCon, she played it coy while spilling some tea with the audience about her man. At the time, she said she and her undisclosed beau have been together for “almost a year.” She also revealed that he has met her two sons; 12-year-old Aiden and 9-year-old Dylan Nida.

Parks shares her two children with her ex-husband, Apollo Nida, who recently revealed that he remarried back in October 2022.

Toni Braxton Reveals She Had Emergency Heart Surgery After Lupus Complication
Toni Braxton is opening up about a “traumatic” health scare she suffered after a lupus complication.
The R&B legend reveals that she had to have emergency heart surgery as a result of a blockage in her coronary artery. She tells PEOPLE that she underwent a procedure after doctors discovered the abnormalities during a screening.

The 55-year-old “Un-Break My Heart” singer was diagnosed with systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE) in 2008. While she routinely gets urine and blood tests to monitor her health, she admits that she kept pushing it off.

“I kept putting it off thinking, ‘Oh, I’m fine. I’ll be okay.’ But my doctor was persistent and I went to get tested in the last week of September. I did a specialized test and they looked at my heart and saw some abnormalities,” she reveals. “I found out that I needed a coronary stent. My left main coronary artery was 80% blocked. The doctors told me I could’ve had a massive heart attack, I would not have survived.”

At the time, Braxton was also grieving the loss of her sister, Traci Braxton.
“It was a traumatic moment for me. I was in shock,” she recalls. “I remember that day because my chest was aching often, just hurting. And I thought I was just sad because unfortunately my sister had just passed and I thought, ‘Wow, I’m really aching in my heart for my sister.’ And come to find out, of course I was sad about my sister, but I also had underlying health issues. It was my body talking to me, telling me something’s not quite right.”

Two days after seeing the doctor, Braxton underwent emergency surgery and a stent was inserted in her heart. She remained in the hospital for a few days as she recovered.

Looking back, the Grammy-winning songstress said she’s grateful she was able to preempt a heart attack. “It was really a scary moment,” she says. “Had I not gotten that test, my life would’ve been different.”

She learned an important lesson from the eye-opening experience. “I look at it like it was a blessing in disguise for me because now, putting off tests? Oh no, I will not put off tests,” she said. “If all I have to do for my lupus and my kidney health is pee in a cup, I can pee in a cup. How many times do you need me to pee? If all I gotta do is get my arm pricked for some blood? Oh yes, I can do that. How many vials do you need?”

Braxton urges others with lupus to get regular screenings, noting that Black and Asian women are four times more likely to develop lupus nephritis and the risk of death is three times greater for people with it.
“It’s important to get those screenings — simple things,” she added. “The goal here is long life and old age.”

Ed Sheeran takes the stand in 'Let's Get it On' copyright trial
Pop star Ed Sheeran testified Tuesday against allegations that he took part of the melody of the Marvin Gaye classic "Let's Get it On" when he created his hit, "Thinking Out Loud."
The singer-songwriter stood up quickly when called to the stand in a Manhattan federal courtroom to face questioning by Keisha Rice, an attorney for the heirs of Ed Townsend, Gaye’s co-writer, who first filed suit in 2017.

The plaintiffs were also represented by civil rights attorney Benjamin Crump.
The civil suit claims Sheeran’s hit has “striking similarities” to the 1973 hit “Let’s Get It On” and shares “overt common elements” with the classic, which is protected by copyright.

Questioned about his live mash-up of the two songs during a stage performance that was captured on video, Sheeran said he's done this with other songs and argued that if he really stole from "Let's Get it On," it would be unwise to highlight it this way.

“If I did what you’re accusing me of, I’d be an idiot to stand in front of people," said Sheeran, 32.
Crump told jurors earlier in the day that the merging of the two songs was tantamount to “a confession.”

“We have a smoking gun,” he said of the mash-up video.
Sheeran defended his art, including a No. 1 hit he said he wrote himself, as well as other songs he said were written with partners. "Thinking Out Loud" was co-written with Amy Wadge, who has not been named in the lawsuit, but is planning to take the stand during the trial.

In a lighter moment, Sheeran said he first heard "Let's Get it On" in the 1999 movie "Austin Powers: The Spy Who Shagged Me," which evoked laughter.

"It's true," he said.

Sheeran said he has associated "Thinking Out Loud," released in 2014, with Van Morrison and that the single was known among his crew as "the Van Morrison song."
A month after the song's release, Morrison, known for songs including "Brown Eyed Girl", turned up at Sheeran's hotel and told him that "he liked it," Sheeran said of "Thinking Out Loud."

He said he came up with the song after the death of a grandfather. The song is about finding love at an old age, he told the court.

"I was in a new relationship at the time," Sheeran said.
The defense, which did not cross examine the star, has said Sheeran would be brought to the stand once more during its presentation.

Townsend’s daughter, Kathryn Townsend Griffin, also took the stand Tuesday as the first witness called by the plaintiffs.
Griffin said she had never heard of Sheeran before “Thinking Out Loud.”
“No disrespect Mr. Sheeran,” she said, looking at the singer.

Asked whether she had animosity towards Sheeran, she said, “absolutely none of that,” and added she has respect for Sheeran and “for the talented gifts God gave him.”

Griffin said she didn’t want the case to get to this point, “But I have to protect my father’s legacy.”
A jury was seated Tuesday to start what was expected to be a two-week trial.

Lindsay Lohan Debuts Baby Bump In New Pic
Lindsay Lohan finally showed off her baby bump. The "Mean Girls" actress, who is expecting her first child with husband Bader Shammas, flaunted her growing belly in a mirror selfie that she shared on Instagram Story.

In the Tuesday, April 25 post, the 36-year-old pregnant beauty could be seen pursing her lips together as she posed in a green-and-white knit maxi dress. The said picture was taken during her stay at The New York Edition hotel.

Lindsay confirmed she's having a bun in the oven back in March. At that time, she unleashed a snap of a white baby onesie that read "coming soon..." In the caption, the expectant mom gushed, "We are blessed and excited! [prayer, heart and baby emojis] (sic)."

It was unveiled earlier this month that Lindsay and Bader celebrated her pregnancy with family and friends at a party. Following the bash, a source told Us Weekly that the actress is "happier" than she has ever been since discovering that she is to become a mother.

"[Lindsay] loves being pregnant. She's the happiest when she's with her closest friends and family," the source told Us Weekly. "She is rarely in town for long, so friends and family wanted to celebrate. It was very private - just a handful of close friends and family having brunch in honor of Lindsay’s pregnancy."

The insider went on to hint to the outlet that a "bigger" celebration for Lindsay is set to take place where she lives in Dubai. Meanwhile, the expectant star has spent her time in New York with her family looking for clothes for both herself and the baby.

"During the short trip to New York, she also spent some quality time shopping with her siblings for baby clothes and cool and stylish maternity clothes," said the source.

John Legend Thinks Men Need To ‘Speak Up For Reproductive Rights’ To Not Go ‘Back To An Era’ For Women
John Legend recently sat down for an interview with Time 100, where he discussed his thoughts when it comes to reproductive rights and other aspects regarding being pro-choice.

“We have to speak up for reproductive rights, absolutely,” Legend responds, which earned cheers from the audience. “I think all of America, now that the Dobbs decision has come down, is realizing the level of control and authoritarianism that would be required to implement the so-called ‘pro-life’ agenda. It’s not a pro-life agenda, it’s a pro-control over women’s reproductive choices agenda.”

“It’s trying to take America back to an era where women didn’t have autonomy or didn’t have control over their economic decisions and of course, their body,” he adds. “When we talk about miscarriages, and we talk about late-term abortions, often, they’re the same thing.”

Legend’s wife, Chrissy Teigen, had revealed last year that a miscarriage she had in 2020 was instead a late-stage abortion that was needed to save her life — which prompted the question from the interviewer about what role men need to play to protect those rights.

“These conversations are life or death for these women,” Legend says later in the video. “30 weeks. 35 weeks. When they have to make these wrenching decisions, it is the hardest decision they’ll make. It is traumatic. It is painful. It is harrowing.”

Check out the official 'The Equalizer 3' trailer starring Denzel Washington
Denzel Washington premiered the official trailer for The Equalizer 3 at CinemaCon. In the film, which opens in theaters on Sept. 1, he stars as Robert McCall, a stone-cold assassin who seeks justice on his own terms. The highly anticipated action movie also sees Washington reuniting with Dakota Fanning, who co-starred alongside him in 2004’s Man on Fire.

The trailer opens up with a peek of the Training Day actor’s new life in Italy, where he settled down and left his violent past behind. However, things eventually take a turn, and he decides to take matters into his own hands.

The Equalizer 3 was produced by Todd Black, Jason Blumenthal, Denzel Washington, Antoine Fuqua, Steve Tisch, Clayton Townsend, Alex Siskin, and Tony Eldridge, while David Bloomfield, Tarak Ben Ammar, and Andy Mitchell served as executive producers. It was directed by Fuqua, written by Richard Wenk, and based on the TV series created by Michael Sloan and Richard Lindheim.

The official description of the film reads, “Since giving up his life as a government assassin, Robert McCall (Denzel Washington) has struggled to reconcile the horrific things he’s done in the past and finds a strange solace in serving justice on behalf of the oppressed. Finding himself surprisingly at home in Southern Italy, he discovers his new friends are under the control of local crime bosses. As events turn deadly, McCall knows what he has to do: become his friends’ protector by taking on the mafia.”

After the trailer made its debut at CinamaCon, Washington was also treated with a surprise award ceremony. He was honored with the lifetime achievement award, presented to him by Sony film boss Tom Rothman. “True movie stars matter more than ever,” Rothman said. “They are just rarer than ever. Streaming doesn’t create movie stars, only global hits do.”

Judge That Tyrese Blasted Orders Him to Pay Ex Wife $636K for Child Support and Legal Fees
*The judge that Tyrese ripped into in a video posted online has ordered him to pay nearly $250K to his ex-wife, and nearly $400K to her attorney.
The actor/singer appeared in a Fulton County court Tuesday as part of his ongoing child support battle with ex-wife Samantha Lee Gibson. According to TMZ, the two are at odds over Tyrese refusing to pay the $10,000/month he was ordered to pay last August.

Tyrese posted a clip on Instagram Saturday (April 22) in which he called on Black fathers to help him push back against Judge Kevin M. Farmer who he claims is “racist” and biased against him.

Tyrese also asked Black fathers, the Nation of Islam, and civil rights attorney Benjamin Crump to meet him outside the courthouse “for a prayer on behalf of the family law courts system that someway, somehow tends to lean in the favor of the other side.”

Barack Obama And Joe Biden Expressed Their Sadness Over The Loss Of Harry Belafonte
Several artists and public figures have taken to social media to express their sadness over the loss of Harry Belafonte. Yesterday (April 25), the singer died of congestive heart failure at 96 years old, while in his Manhattan home.

Belafonte was known for popularizing calypso music with songs like “Day-O (The Banana Boat Song),” “Jump In The Line (Shake, Señora),” and “Jamaican Farewell.” He was also an outspoken advocate for racial equality and worked closely with Martin Luther King Jr., and was an open critic of George W. Bush’s policies as well.

Yesterday, beloved former President Barack Obama took to Twitter to honor Belafonte and share condolences to his loved ones.

“Harry Belafonte was a barrier-breaking legend who used his platform to lift others up,” said Obama. “He lived a good life — transforming the arts while also standing up for civil rights. And he did it all with his signature smile and style. Michelle and I send our love to his wife, kids, and fans.”

President Joe Biden also reflected on Belafonte’s legacy, saying, “Jill and I are saddened by the passing of a groundbreaking American who used his talent and voice to help redeem the soul of our nation. Harry Belafonte’s accomplishments are legendary and his legacy of outspoken advocacy, compassion, and respect for dignity will endure forever.”

Atlanta Police Request Public Assistance in Identifying Person Seen in Video Amid Koko Da Doll Murder Investigation
Atlanta police released a video Friday that shows an individual they are trying to identify as they continue to investigate the murder of Koko Da Doll.

Police did not identify the individual as a suspect or person of interest, and it is not clear what connection the person has with the case, 11 Alive News reported.

Tucker Carlson Breaks Silence After Being Fired From Fox News
Tucker Carlson is speaking out for the first time since being fired from Fox News earlier this week.
On Monday, the political pundit was fired just days after the channel reached a $787 million settlement with Dominion Voting Systems for publicizing erroneous reports of voter fraud in the 2020 election.

According to reports, Carlson held his position for more than 14 years, but it’s unclear why he was let go.

“Tucker still hasn’t been given any indication of why he was taken off the air,” a Fox News source told Daily Mail. “We believe Rupert [Murdoch] wants to sell the company, and it’s harder to find an institutional buyer with Tucker as the main star.”

One senior Department of Defense official also spoke out about Carlson’s departure, saying, “We’re a better country without him bagging on our military every night in front of hundreds of thousands of people.” Another military official said, “Good riddance!”

However, when asked about reports that suggested he wouldn’t be missed, Carlson said to Politico, “Ha! I’m sure.”
While on air, Carlson, 53, spewed conspiracy theories and false narratives under the guise of right-wing politics.
“Tucker took something that really was relegated to the fringes — it’s a white nationalist conspiracy theory — and he made it not just a part of his show, but then a broader part of Fox News’s culture, and then, by extension, Republican politics,” Angelo Carusone, president of liberal watchdog Media Matters for America, said of Carlson’s tenure at the network. “It really became acceptable to embrace that idea.”
While Tucker Carlson’s future remains unclear, Fox News plans to replace the show with a new segment featuring a carousel of guest hosts.
