#MAGFAB: Inya Moore's Ode to Iemanjá in Vogue Portugal Spring 2023,
Actor Indya Moore covered the Spring 2023 issue of Vogue Portugal, styled by Alexandre Dornellas in a water goddess tribute to Brazil’s Iemanjá. As always with global goddesses, you will note multiple spellings of their names and sometimes seemingly unrelated names among the same goddess in Africa, South America and the Carribean.

Photographer Gleeson Paulino [IG] photographs Moore in Salvador, Bahia, Brazil — at the historic intersection of indigenous peoples, Spanish conquerors, the Catholic Church, slave ships from Africa and the Yoruba religion.
Vogue Portugal explains:
Queen of the Sea, “Mother whose children are fish”, the name of Iemanjá is closely linked to Brazilian popular culture in the world’s imagination, although, as an orixá(African deity) female of the Candomblé and Umbanda religions, is also rooted in the culture of the African continent, namely in Nigeria. Among other rituals, it is common to offer her things as different as flowers, perfume, rice, or even mirrors, since she is a very vain entity and loves this exchange... The flowers are usually roses, in white colors (peace ), yellow (wealth), red (love) and blue (achievement). This ceremony, which serves to “ask for good luck”, is also a way of honoring the Queen of the Sea, Iemanjá. And who better than actress Indya Moore — known not only for her immense talent, but also for her empathy and grace — to star in this tribute?

The American ‘Pose’ star shares in the fashion story her specific thoughts on Bahia — a place that I’ve also written about in terms of my own Afro/Brazilian, mindblowing psychic experience in Salvador.
I’m lifting her words off Instagram just as written by Indya Moore, wanting to advance her thinking and her voice:
My work in this issue is dedicated to my ancestors & relatives, of whom I share with relatives across the Afro-indian indigenous diaspora of the displaced & marginalized many.

In acknowledgement of the survivors of the Atlantic slave trade, my native ancestors, surviving extinction & genocide- remembered, forgotten, lost & found, Black & Latinx.

From Haiti, Dominican Republic & Puerto Rico to Brazil.
Central Africa: The Kongo/ Angolan/ Mbundu peoples of present day Congo.
West Africa: Ewe, Fun, Ga-Dangme, Fante peoples of present day Ghana, Liberia & Sierra Leon.
Yoruba people of present day Nigeria & people of Senegambia & Guinea.

My Native “America” Ancestors, the Arawak, also known as the Taíno, the indigenous natives of following lands: Borinquen (present day Puerto Rico), Ayti, (present day Dominican Republic and Haiti), Cubanascnan, (present day Cuba), Xaymaca, (present day jamaica), Guanahani (present day Bahamian islands) & Bimini, (present day Florida). The Taino did not claim ownership of any land & traveled frequently across the seas to neighboring islands by canoe to exchange with neighboring tribes. The taino are direct relatives of the Palikur people, an Arawak speaking Nation of indigenous amazonians from the Brazilian state of Amapá.
As a Afro Indigenous trans person- The controversy of my autonomy is not new, it is old. I’ve seen this before ten folds over & I know it will not prevail. The remembrance of my native ancestors reinforces my belonging to the earth in a way that encourages my grace, compassion, growth, forgiveness & my will to replenish my own relationship to my earth roots but also to inspire others to return to theirs, & their earth medicine ways of love & freedom. I am inspired to encourage those who don’t know their roots, to plant grow & restore them, & to respect the traditions & experiences of everyones cultures identity however complex they may be. Every people has a beginning, & every body is an act of God. Where your hindsite to your own is cut off, giving ourselves permission to begin again is essential, now more than ever.

“May we say never again, (to genocide, war, & violence) & mean it” -@urucker

#RHOA: Marlo & Kandi Will Continue Clashing For Season 15?
Another day, another batch of #RHOA rumors about the show’s forthcoming season.
As previously reported in season 15 all of the full-time housewives will return alongside newbie Courtney Rhodes, and friend of the show Monyetta Shaw.

A trailer also showed several clashes including one between Kandi Burruss and Marlo Hampton. Last season the two bumped heads over numerous things including Marlo alleging that Kandi “takes care of” her husband Todd Tucker

Now it looks like their beef will continue to play out in season 15.
Bravo insider/celebrity blogger B. Scott was a recent guest host on The Breakfast Club and shared alleged details about the ongoing issues between the housewives.
According to Scott, Kandi, and Marlo will clash over the shooting that took place at Kandi’s Old Lady Gang restaurant and Kandi will retaliate by bringing up an allegation that a woman allegedly committed suicide after being slashed in the face by Marlo.

“They got real low,” said B. Scott.
RadarOnline reports that Marlo was first arrested for aggravated battery with great bodily injury and harm with a deadly weapon on May 26, 1999. Hampton acknowledged and spoke on her history of arrests, and said she was shocked that was being linked to the woman’s death that happened multiple years later.

This season she will also be seen bonding with her love interest, Scottley Innis over their jail stints.
In addition to that Kandi Vs. Marlo tidbit, B. Scott also alleged that there will be yet another #RHOA secret recording scandal.

Back in season 12 “#Snakegate” happened amid an allegation that there was a recording of Cynthia Bailey blasting her friend NeNe Leakes.

Now allegedly another secret recording will surface, this time about two#RHOA stars sharing a smooch.
“In Portugal, there is a recording,” said B. Scott on The Breakfast Club. “One housewife recorded another housewife having a discussion about this housewife kissing another woman on the show.”

Oh, boy. What do YOU think about these #RHOA rumors?

MusicNews: Chris Brown And Ciara Team Up For New Collaboration
Chris Brown and Ciara have some heat on the way. It’s been 14 years since they last worked together, but that’s about to change. On Thursday, Chris announced that he and Ciara are dropping a new collaboration.

“ME AND @ciara got some [fire] coming,” Breezy wrote in an Instagram Story.
The two have collaborated once before on Ciara’s song “Turntables” from her 2009 album Fantasy Ride. At the time, Ciara was criticized for working with Chris following his assault of Rihanna.

“The record sounds dope and I feel good about it. It’s one of my favorite tracks on the album,” said Ciara, who completed the song before the incident. “I had to keep it the same. I’m sticking to it just being about the music in this case. What happened with them is personal and I don’t really know everything. All I know is I love the record.”
It’s unclear where their latest song will appear. Ciara is readying a new album and has been dropping a series of singles, including her most recent “Da Girls.”
The two were supposed to perform together during a tribute to Michael Jackson at last year’s American Music Awards, but the performance was scrapped at the last minute for unknown reasons.

After it was canceled, Ciara shared footage from their rehearsals of “Thriller.” “@ChrisBrownOfficial you’re a rare breed of this generation. Always fun to rock with you,” she said.

Chris is currently in Thailand for Rolling Loud. He will headline the three-day festival this Friday.

Weezy’s “Welcome to Tha Carter” tour stopped in Drake’s hometown of Toronto on Wednesday. But before Weezy took the stage at HISTORY, the announcer teased a surprise performance from a “local artist” from Toronto.

#GUNVIOLENCE: 4 DEAD and More than 20 shot at Dadeville Alabama Birthday Party!
Update 11:28 ET: The president has been briefed on the shooting in Dadeville, Alabama, according to a note from his team a few minutes ago. He and the White House are monitoring the situation and have been in contact with law enforcement officers and local officials to offer support, per the president’s team.

DADEVILLE, Ala – A celebration turned violent in downtown Dadeville Saturday night as a shooting left four dead and more than 20 people injured according to investigators on scene.

Witnesses tell WRBL the gathering was a Sweet-16 Birthday celebration at Mahogany Masterpiece Dance Studio, and the shooting happened around 10:30 Saturday night. We are told the majority of those injured are teenagers. That information has not been confirmed by law enforcement. We do not know if a person(s) of interest or suspect(s) is in custody.

Sources tell WRBL multiple law enforcement agencies are working feverishly in multiple jurisdictions on the investigation. Law enforcement’s limited disclosure of information regarding the mass shooting, the victims, and the suspect(s) has left some members of the community feeling increasingly frustrated. WRBL is told ALEA is leading the investigation, not local law enforcement. ALEA releases the following statement Sunday morning around 8:15:

At approximately 11:45 p.m. Saturday, April 15, Special Agents with the Alabama Law Enforcement Agency’s (ALEA) State Bureau of Investigations (SBI) launched a death investigation at the request of the Dadeville Police Chief. The investigation is a result of a shooting which occurred at approximately 10:34 p.m. near the 200 Block of Broadnax Street in Dadeville, located in Tallapoosa County. Currently, there have been four confirmed fatalities and multiple injuries. The following agencies responded to the scene and are currently assisting with the investigation: The Dadeville Police Department, Tallapoosa County Sheriff’s Office, Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF), Federal Bureau of Investigations (FBI) and the 5 Circuit District Attorney’s Office. Nothing further is available as the investigation is ongoing.

A news conference is slated for later Sunday.
Meanwhile, some individuals have taken to social media to request the removal of a disturbing image showing six people on the ground in a building with the caption “Praying For Dadeville.” First responders have acknowledged they are aware of the image.

Some 10 hours after the shooting, crime scene tape still surrounds the dance studio on N. Broadnax Street next to the PNC Bank. A tarp hangs over the glass front door and white sheets can be seen inside covering the floor. Several yellow police placards litter the front sidewalk.

The injured were transported to local hospitals for medical attention. Details about the suspects or motives have not yet been released by the authorities. Witnesses reported hearing multiple gunshots and people running and screaming from the building.

The shooting has left the small town shaken, and authorities are urging anyone with information to contact Dadeville Police or the Tallapoosa County Sheriff’s Office.

Lil' Kim Settles Massive $1.4 Million Tax Debt With Uncle Sam
Lil Kim has settled her years-long beef with the IRS over unpaid taxes, RadarOnline.com has learned.
According to official records obtained by RadarOnline.com, recently, the Internal Revenue Service filed releases of several liens filed against Kim and her property.
Uncle Sam had accused Kim of owing $232k for 2003, $58k for 2005, $188k for 2006, $175,910.71 for 2007, $397,148.65 for 2008, $211k for 2016.

In addition, another lien over $126k owed for the years 2010-2013 was released. The grand total of the tax debt released came to over $1.38 million.
Back in 2018, Lil Kim [real name: Kimberly Denise Jones] filed for Chapter 13 bankruptcy. The petition, filed in New Jersey Court, listed assets totaling $2,573,300 and liabilities in the amount of $4,084,841.60.

In court documents, Lil Kim said she owed $1.8 million in back taxes along with various other debts. Her monthly income was listed as $18,286 and her expenses totaled $12,784.

Despite the $5k surplus each month, Lil Kim said she was struggling to stay afloat. Her assets included her New Jersey home worth $2.3 million, a 2000 Mercedes Benz worth $4,000, a 2005 Bentley Continental GT worth $52,600, household furniture estimated at $25k, $25k worth of jewelry and another $5k in electronics.

The majority of Kim’s debt came from $2 million owed on her money. In addition, she said she owed $1.4 million in unpaid federal taxes from 2004-2017 and $376k in taxes owed to the New Jersey Division of Taxation for the years 2004-2017.

Kim said her company Queen Bee Entertainment pulled in $361k the year before she filed for Chapter 13. She estimated the company’s monthly income as $43k and expenses as $25k, leaving her with around $18k profit.
The pint-sized star said she pulled in $398k in 2017 and $823k in 2016. The rapper said she supports her daughter and did not list that she received child support.

Months later, Kim asked the court to dismiss the case claiming she no longer needed help. She said her finances were back in order and she could handle the debt without the court’s protection.

Simone Biles and Jonathan Owens Obtain Marriage License Ahead of Wedding
Jonathan Owens and Simone Biles are gearing up to stick the landing on their wedding day.
The Olympic gymnast and the Houston Texans safety have obtained a marriage license.

Simone shared the sweet news on April 14 by posting both a photo of herself and Jonathan posing with the license to her Instagram feed and Instagram Story. She wrote under the April 14 post, "Almost time to say ‘I do.'"

This update on their journey to marriage comes after Jonathan got down on one knee in February 2022. At the time, Simone shared a few looks at the magical moment to her Instagram, noting that it was, "THE EASIEST YES."

That very post included a close up look at Simone's engagement ring. At the time, celebrity jeweler Zo Frost told E! News that the ring's center stone is a "3 carat oval diamond" that was "handpicked" by Jonathan months prior.

The sparkling piece of jewelry is now Simone's "most prized possession"
"I'm always wearing it," she told Today Feb. 18. "I had to wash my hair the other day, and I took it off just in case; I didn't know if it was gonna get caught or anything. I have to ask my mom like, 'When do you take it off? Do you ever take it off?' but it definitely beats a gold medal."
As for when Simone first knew Jonathan, who she began dating in August 2020, was her forever?

She told E! News' Francesca Amiker in an exclusive January interview that it was clear to her when she saw his relationship with his mother.

"I knew he was the one when I first met his mom," Simone said. "She has a little bit of a disability with her walking, she's gotten a lot stronger, but how he treated his mother and how he treats women, I was like, 'Wow.'"

Wendy Williams Is 'Gearing Up' For Secret Filming Project After Long Career Break, Rep Spills
Wendy Williams has a brand new project in the works — and according to her publicist, it is "definitely not a reality show."
The former talk show host has been sparking rumors of a potential new career move for months, from announcing her yet-to-be-released podcast to teasing her return to television.
"After taking a long break, Wendy feels some of the best days of her life were in media," rep Shawn Zanotti dished on Friday, April 14. "She has been in media since her early 20’s and wants to return to what she loves."
"Yes, Wendy is filming," she added. "Yes, she is gearing up for something and the specifics of that can’t be disclosed as of yet."

As previously reported, rumors swirled that the 58-year-old was branching out to reality television with her own show centered on her life after she was allegedly spotted being followed by a film crew at a New York restaurant.

However, a source spilled the crew didn't look like they had been "hired by a network" and that it didn't look like it was "pre-planned" because a producer was handing out Non-Disclosure Agreements to patrons at the upscale eatery.

"Basically it was a regular night . . . and then all of the sudden the Wendy Williams train arrived," a separate eyewitness gushed of the surprise sighting. "She had a huge crew that basically turned Fresco by Scotto into a movie set . . . approximately 30 people in the crew. Lights, cameras, audio, producers, etc. [It] looked like a reality show.”

This comes soon after Williams was rumored to be planning a bombshell move to Los Angeles, Calif., after an insider claimed she was rushing to sell off "all her belongings." But Zanotti quickly assured fans that the mother-of-one was simply doing some "spring cleaning."

"This is what people do this time of year. It's a new chapter for Wendy and she wants new things," she explained. "This is a common gesture people do and Wendy is no different... it is out with old and in with the new."

Zanotti spoke with Page Six on Williams secret filming project.

Cherelle Griner celebrates passing the bar exam with wife Brittney Griner by her side
Cherelle Griner has achieved her goal of becoming a lawyer! She shared the celebratory news with her social media followers in a carousel of photos posted on Friday (April 14).

“It didn’t come easy[;] I almost chose not to do it! Thank God I sat for the July 2022 bar exam… you may now address me as Counselor!” excitedly wrote Cherelle on the Instagram post. The certified lawyer graduated from North Carolina Central University School of Law in May. In the carousel of photos, she beamed with pride as she posed with wife Brittney Griner, local justices, and others. Brittney shared the post in her Instagram Story, where she wrote, “So proud of my amazing wife!” While detained in Russia, Brittney wished her wife good luck as she prepared for the arduous exam last summer. “Good luck on the bar exam,” said the superstar athlete to ABC News.

Throughout Brittney’s imprisonment, Cherelle advocated for her wife’s release, meeting with President Joe Biden and other elected officials. Around the time that she sat for the two-day exam, Cherelle shared that the WNBA star was doing her best to remain strong while facing nine years in prison. “She’s like, ‘I’m okay, babe. I’m hardened. I’m not me right now. When I come home, it’s going to take a minute to get back to myself, but I’m holding on. I won’t break until I come home. I won’t let them break me. I know they are trying to, but I’m going to do my best to just hold on until I can come home,'” she recalled during an appearance on Rev. Al Sharpton’s radio show, “Keepin’ It Real.”

Last year, Cherelle said that, at times, it was challenging to remain confident that Brittney would make her way back home. “It was almost as if somebody just punched you in the stomach, and you inhaled. You never get to breathe out,” she told People. After 10 months behind bars, the Olympic medalist was released in a high-profile prisoner swap for Viktor Bout, a prolific Russian arms dealer known as the “Merchant of Death.” Earlier this week, the Phoenix Mercury star announced plans to share her harrowing experience in Russia in her upcoming memoir.

RuPaul's Drag Race crowns season 15 winner

Sasha Colby is officially in her Winner Era. After a hard-fought season of stage-Christening, neck-cracking, duck-walking, Spice-sniping, wig-measuring, and more, RuPaul's Drag Race season 15 has given the Los Angeles-based, Hawaiian-born queen the most blessed night of all capped with a crown on her head.

"This goes to every trans person, past, present, and future, because we are not going anywhere," Sasha said after accepting the title from RuPaul to become the second consecutive trans winner of a regular season of Drag Race's American edition, following season 14 star Willow Pill's victory last year. Before that, Sasha's former roommate and close friend, Kylie Sonique Love, became the first trans contestant to win an overall iteration of Drag Race in the United States when she won the All Stars 6 crown.

Mama Ru announced the season 15 winner at the end of an epic grand finale, which saw Luxx Noir London, Mistress Isabelle Brooks, Anetra, and Sasha fronting solo musical numbers set to original tunes, before Ru whittled the finalists down to a final two, Sasha and Anetra, for a lip-sync smackdown.

The duel marked a rematch from the pair's LaLaPaRuza battle in February, which saw Sasha squeezing out a victory over Anetra, who helped make the face-off one of the most memorable lip-syncs of the season.

Anetra went on to perform in what longtime judge Michelle Visage dubbed her favorite lip-sync of all time when she battled Marcia Marcia Marcia to Doja Cat's "Boss Bitch," which has racked up over 2.2 million views since March.

Earlier in the finale, RuPaul asked what Sasha dreams of doing next. She replied, "I love a good manifestation moment so I'm seeing my own TV show, I'm seeing acting, I'm seeing music, all thanks to this show and you."

In addition to Sasha's win, Malaysia Babydoll Foxx was named season 15's Miss Congeniality by last season's titleholder, Kornbread "The Snack" Jeté.
Sasha was presented her official crown at a live finale viewing party in New York on Friday night, joined by Willow, and her fellow top-four sisters, Anetra, Mistress, and Luxx.

"It's such a privilege to be able to be on the show and to now have a platform to help everyone who looks like us not be so scared about everything that's going on in the world," Sasha said, gesturing to herself and the other queens. "And to know that they still need to be doing drag, honey, because we're not going anywhere, babies!"

Though season 15 is over, there's plenty more Drag Race on deck for the remainder of 2023, with the previously announced All Stars 8 set to premiere May 12 on Paramount+, while several international spin-offs — including a Global All Stars competition as well as region-specific iterations in Brazil, Germany, Mexico — are also in the works.

Walgreens Worker Reportedly Follows Pregnant Woman Accused of Shoplifting to Parking Lot, Shoots Her Multiple Times Claiming He Feared for His Life
A Nashville woman and her newborn baby are in critical condition at Vanderbilt Medical Center after the mother, who was seven months pregnant, reportedly was shot by a Walgreens employee in a store parking lot for alleged shoplifting.

According to Nashville Police, Walgreens team leader Mitarius Boyd shot a suspected shoplifter, Travonsha Ferguson, in the store parking lot around 8 p.m. on Wednesday, April 12. Doctors had to perform an emergency cesarean section to deliver Ferguson’s baby after she sustained multiple gunshot wounds. The baby reportedly was not harmed, and both mother and child are in critical but stable condition.

Police said that the 21-year-old Walgreens employee was notified by another employee that 34-year-old Ferguson and another woman were stealing.

Boyd claimed that he saw the women placing items into a shopping cart and into a large over-the-shoulder bag, according to Eyewitness 3 News Nashville. He reportedly took out his cell phone to record the women and proceeded to follow them out of the store to their car. Boyd reportedly spotted the women loading the stolen items in the trunk of their car and approached the rear side of the vehicle to confront the women.

He said that one of the women sprayed him using a can of mace, and that’s when he pulled out his gun and began shooting at the women.

According to police, Boyd said he started shooting because he was in fear and didn’t know if the women were armed. After the shooting took place, the two women left the scene, and Boyd went back inside the store to call 911.
The woman with Ferguson took her to the city’s General Hospital and drove away. WSMV-TV reports that Ferguson had multiple gunshot wounds and was transported by ambulance to Vanderbilt Medical Center.

Police said that they seized Boyd’s phone and the gun. They also reported that he is cooperating with the investigation.

Boyd was reportedly arrested in October for an alleged incident at a Nashville Best Buy. He reportedly caused disruption and refused to leave the store after discovering the store didn’t have a PlayStation 5 in stock. He allegedly got into an argument with several store employees, including the store manager, and authorities were called.

When police arrived, Boyd reportedly refused to leave and got into an argument with officers. Authorities charged Boyd with criminal trespassing and disorderly conduct.

Nashville detectives said once the Walgreens-related investigation is over, they will take their findings to the district attorney’s office to determine if Boyd will face charges. Nashville police didn’t release the identity of the second woman who was with Ferguson.
