#RHOA: Kandi Burruss’ Old Lady Gang Restaurant Finally Receives An “A” Rating From Health Inspector
Finally, there’s some good news for Old Lady Gang. According to Radar Online, Kandi Burruss and Todd Tucker’s restaurant has finally received an “A” health score from the health inspector. That’s something to celebrate because this news comes after months and months and months of lackluster health scores. Now that Bravo has officially canceled Kandi and the Gang, it seems like the OLG team is using their extra free time to get organized and clean behind the scenes.
Of course, Kandi and Todd own both Old Lady Gang and Blaze Steak and Seafood. On Real Housewives of Atlanta, we’ve followed their journey into restaurant ownership, and it’s been a rocky road. Once they finally opened the doors to their restaurants, maintaining them proved to be challenging. In 2020, OLG was in the headlines after three people were injured in a shooting at the restaurant. Then, the health department forced Blaze to close temporarily after a failed inspection. Meanwhile, OLG has held a C-rating with the health department since 2021.
Previously when the health department visited Old Lady Gang, they uncovered some disturbing issues in the kitchen. The inspector allegedly found everything from raw hamburgers to crab cakes and sliced cheese at unsafe temperatures. So, this soul food had a little bit of extra soul when it came to your table.
Raw meat hanging out in the temperature danger zone was not the only infraction at Old Lady Gang. The inspector also uncovered the management was not properly stocking the employee’s hand-washing sink. There were no soap or paper towels at the hand-washing station, which is just as bad as a fashion show with no fashion.
Although it took a couple of years, it seems Kandi and the gang have finally stocked up on paper towels and figured out how to properly store their food. The Georgia Department of Public Health reportedly paid the restaurant a visit at the beginning of March 2023. For once, they were actually satisfied with what they found. The health inspector awarded them a perfect score, 100 out of 100, so visitors should see an “A” rating in the window the next time they visit OLG. Let’s hope it stays that way.

Although Tamar hasn’t said much about her upcoming album yet, we know that the project is set to come out later this year. This will be her first official album since “Bluebird of Happiness” which had the big hit “My Man” produced by Bob Robinson of Tim & Bob.

Hot on the heels of his album with Musiq Soulchild, Hit-Boy has announced that his surprise album Surf or Drown will drop next week.
He revealed the cover art and tracklist for the 11-song set, which features his frequent collaborators including Nas, Curren$y, Dom Kennedy, and James Fauntleroy. He teams up with Alchemist on the previously-released “Slipping Into Darkness” on which he calls out his fellow producers.
“It’s some other vibes on there I feel like people gon’ rock with. It’s not all… soul chops and sh*t, it’s like modern sounds, it’s everything, it’s a world to come into,” he told Elliott Wilson during a Twitter Spaces chat, per HipHop-N-More.
Just last week, the prolific producer dropped his collaborative album with Musiq Soulchild, Victims & Villains.

Tyra Banks says she's leaving 'Dancing With the Stars': 'It's time'
Tyra Banks's Dancing With the Stars days are done, Yahoo Entertainment can confirm.
The supermodel said she'll no longer be hosting the reality competition show after three seasons.
She made the reveal to TMZ, saying, "I feel it's time for me to really focus on my business and my entrepreneurship, and also producing more TV — but behind the scenes. I think it's time to graduate from the dance floor to the stock market floor... from the ballroom to the boardroom."
Aware she was breaking news, she said, "Wait, wait, wait — mic drop."
Banks, who was interviewed as she left a grocery store, was asked if she really was leaving the show, which moved from ABC to Disney+ last year.
"Don't you think it's time? Yeah, I think it's time," she replied. I'm an entrepreneur at heart... I think my heart, my soul, is into my business, it's also into producing new TV, which we're working on. We have a new business show coming soon. But, I really, really want to focus on my business, and you can't do that hosting a show."
Banks, who also served as executive producer of the show, said she'll be creating things, not hosting things because she's "crazy, crazy, crazy focused on business."
The show, which is expected to air its 32nd season this fall on Disney+, hasn't yet made an official announcement. However, a source confirmed Banks's departure to Yahoo.
Banks first joined the show in 2020, Season 29, replacing longtime host Tom Bergeron, who had been there from the beginning, in a big shakeup. Bergeron had different co-hosts through the years: Lisa Canning (Season 1), Samantha Harris (Seasons 2 - 9), Brooke Burke (Seasons 10 - 17) and Erin Andrews (Seasons 18-28).
Bergeron said in a 2021 interview that when he was fired, the show he left was not the one he had joined. He said it changed so much and not for the better, in his opinion.
Banks, who said she had been a longtime fan of the show, initially helmed it solo. Last season, Alfonso Ribeiro became her co-host. The judges for last season were Carrie Ann Inaba, Bruno Tonioli, Derek Hough and Len Goodman. (Goodman retired at the end of the season.)
Banks rose to fame as a model in the 1990s and quickly achieved supermodel status. She branched out early, acting on TV (Fresh Prince of Bel-Air) and in films (Coyote Ugly), creating a long-running competition series (America's Next Top Model) as well as launching a daytime talk show (The Tyra Banks Show). The queen of the "smize" hosted America's Got Talent for one season prior to DWTS. She has a production company, authored books, had a beauty line and completed Harvard Business School's Owner/President Management Program in 2012. She currently has an interactive show, ModelLand, which teaches people how to model in one day, and has launched a ice cream line, Smize & Dream.
Good Burger 2 Officially Announced, Kenan Thompson Issues Statement
After months of rumors and fans hoping it would happen, a sequel to the 1997 film Good Burger starring Keenan Thompson and Kel Mitchell has officially been greenlit at Paramount+.
The news was revealed by both Thompson and Mitchell during Friday’s episode of The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon, with Mitchell excitedly yelling out the catchphrase “Welcome to Good Burger, home of the Good Burger,” before announcing the news.
According to a report from Variety, filming on the project will begin in May, with the plans to debut it on their Paramount+ streaming service sometime in 2023.
“I can’t believe it’s been a little over 25 years since great customer service was born at Good Burger!” Thompson said in a statement. “Being a part of something so many generations of people have come to love has made me so proud and now to be back where it all began working on the sequel is surreal! Love performing with my brother Kel and can’t wait to show the fans what these characters have been up to since we last saw them.”
The concept of Good Burger originally came from the Nickelodeon sketch series All That and saw Mitchell star as Ed, an employee at a fast food restaurant known as Good Burger. The sketch became so popular that it became a film in 1997, starring both Thompson and Mitchell as employees of the fast food chain that find themselves wrapped up in a large conspiracy. The film didn’t make a ton of money but did become a cult classic.
While it’s unclear what the Good Burger 2 plot will feature, Mitchell did have some ideas of what it could be last year. In an interview with ComingSoon, Mitchell teased the possibility of Ed running Good Burger now and seeing “a whole new generation” of employees working in the store.
“I definitely think Ed would be running the place at this point. So, how chaotic or funny that would be with him running Good Burger and managing it,” Mitchell said. “I think them looking for [and] seeing these new employees that are there now, with a whole new generation, I think would be really dope too. Having that and them having new adventures throughout that, trying to show these other workers how to get through and them learning them and navigating their stories within it.”
Keanu Reeves Mourns 'Beloved' John Wick Costar Lance Reddick: 'Deeply Saddened and Heartbroken'
Keanu Reeves is mourning his John Wick costar Lance Reddick after his sudden death at age 60.
Reddick died Friday morning, one week before the release of John Wick: Chapter 4, in which he reprises his role of Charon, the concierge at the Continental Hotel's New York City.
In a joint statement, Reeves, 58, and director Chad Stahelski said they will dedicate the latest sequel to him.
"We are deeply saddened and heartbroken at the loss of our beloved friend and colleague Lance Reddick. He was the consummate professional and a joy to work with," they said. "Our love and prayers are with his wife Stephanie, his children, family and friends. We dedicate the film to his loving memory. We will miss him dearly."
The studio behind the film, Lionsgate, added in a statement, "The world of Wick would not be what it is without Lance Reddick and the unparalleled depth he brought to Charon's humanity and unflappable charisma. Lance leaves behind an indelible legacy and hugely impressive body of work, but we will remember him as our lovely, joyful friend and Concierge. We're stunned and heartbroken, and our deepest condolences go to his beloved family and his fans all around the world."
Reddick's reps said in a statement Friday, "Acclaimed actor Lance Reddick passed away suddenly this morning from natural causes. Lance was best known for his roles in The Wire, Bosch, Netflix's Resident Evil and the John Wick films."
"He is survived by his wife Stephanie Reddick and children Yvonne Nicole Reddick and Christopher Reddick," the statement added. "Lance will be greatly missed. Please respect his family's privacy at this time."
The late actor once praised his working relationship with Reeves in a December 2021 interview with Vulture, in which he described the star as "someone who's very generous as an actor and then all about the work."
"He's also very shy. This is going to sound really weird, but — he seems simple, but spiritually he's very advanced," Reddick said at the time, later adding: "On one hand I feel like I don't know him very well but on the other, I just adore that guy. He's such a wonderful human being."
Elsewhere in that interview, Reddick recalled that Reeves once "wrote me a note thanking me for what I brought to the character" in the John Wick franchise.
"And he wanted to give the note to me," he added. "I'll never forget it. I'm going to cry now."
Disgraced Minneapolis police officer Derek Chauvin pleads guilty to federal tax evasion
The charges continue to pile up for former police officer Derek Chauvin. As previously reported, in 2021, the disgraced law enforcement official was found guilty of the murder of George Floyd. The brutal May 25, 2020 death of the Black man sparked social justice protests worldwide — but Chauvin’s troubles aren’t done yet.
Today (March 17), he stood before a court and pleaded guilty to tax evasion in Minnesota. In November 2021, he and his ex-wife Kellie Chauvin (who has also used the names Kellie Thao and Kellie Xiong) pleaded not guilty to underreporting “$464,433 in joint income and owed a total of $21,853 in taxes,” which included almost $100,000 he pocketed for gigs as an off-duty security guard.
A spokesperson for the county’s prosecutor’s office announced today that Washington County Judge Sheridan Hawley sentenced Derek to 13 months in prison. His time will be concurrent with what he is already serving for Floyd’s death, according to NBC News. The outlet adds that their tax evasion lasted several years, from 2014 to 2019. Some of the money came from Kellie’s time spent working as a real estate agent and a photographer. She currently resides in Wisconsin, and on Feb. 24, she pleaded guilty to two counts of aiding and abetting, and failing to file taxes.
Per her plea agreement, she will spend three years on probation and pay $37,868 in restitution. She will also be given no more than 45 days of community service at her upcoming May 12 sentencing. Records state that the Minnesota Department of Revenue became suspicious of Derek’s tax filings several years ago and launched an investigation in June 2020. In April 2021, a court found him guilty of second-degree unintentional murder, third-degree murder, and second-degree manslaughter for his involvement in Floyd’s death. As the victim was face-down on concrete during an arrest, the former cop placed his knee on his neck for eight minutes and 46 seconds, obstructing his breathing, ultimately killing him.
Will Smith's Peacock Original "Bel-Air" renewed for season three
Everyone’s favorite Peacock Original drama has received the greenlight for season three. Earlier today (March 17), the cast of “Bel-Air” shared the renewal announcement as a collective on the series’ Twitter account. They appeared in the uploaded video one by one, each holding up three fingers. “Bel-Air” is a re-imagined, modern-day take on Will Smith‘s ’90s sitcom “The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air.” “We’re halfway through the season and decided why not bless the fans with some more good news? Peacock’s ‘Bel-Air’ is coming back for another season! Don’t call it a comeback cuz the kings (and queens) never left!” the streaming platform captioned its Twitter post.
Like in the ’90s, the new series follows “Will’s complicated journey from the streets of West Philadelphia to the gated mansions of Bel-Air.” Starring as the leading man is Jabari Banks. He is joined by R&B singer Coco Jones, Olly Sholotan, Akira Akbar, Cassandra Freeman, and Adrian Holmes as among the main cast. In January 2023, when season two’s trailer was released, fans watched glimpses of what would come after Will ran away from the Bel-Air mansion at the end of season one. But they also saw sneak-peeks of guest celebrities making their series debut, including Tatyana Ali from the original ’90s sitcom and California rapper Saweetie.
A week before the trailer dropped, the “Icy” artist shared that she was taking her talents to the big screen. “Hella excited to be a part of ‘Bel-Air.’ Peacock. Peacock TV. The film centers on the story of player-at-heart Ben as he decides that he is finally ready to settle down with his childhood friend Alyssa (Palmer). However, she reveals that she is engaged to a handsome billionaire and needs him to be her best man at the wedding. Sam Neill Opens Up About Being Treated For Stage-Three Blood Cancer
Sam Neill is being treated for stage-three blood cancer. The 75-year-old actor has discussed his diagnosis in his new memoir, "Did I Ever Tell You This?", revealing that he feared passing away before the book was even released. He writes, "The thing is, I'm crook. Possibly dying. I may have to speed this up."
Sam initially began writing the book as a way of keeping himself busy. The Hollywood star told the Guardian newspaper, "I found myself with nothing to do. And I'm used to working. I love working. I love going to work. I love being with people every day and enjoying human company and friendship and all these things. And suddenly I was deprived of that. And I thought, 'what am I going to do?' "
"I never had any intention to write a book. But as I went on and kept writing, I realised it was actually sort of giving me a reason to live and I would go to bed thinking, 'I'll write about that tomorrow … that will entertain me.' And so it was a lifesaver really, because I couldn't have gone through that with nothing to do, you know," he continued.
Sam is now cancer-free, but he will continue to take a new chemotherapy drug for the rest of his life. The actor, who played Dr. Alan Grant in the "Jurassic Park" film franchise, insists he's "just pleased to be alive".
He said, "I can't pretend that the last year hasn't had its dark moments. But those dark moments throw the light into sharp relief, you know, and have made me grateful for every day and immensely grateful for all my friends. Just pleased to be alive."
Djimon Hounsou Is ‘Still Struggling to Make a Dollar’ in Hollywood: ‘I Feel Tremendously Cheated’ in Terms of Pay and Workload
Djimon Hounsou’s acting career spans 33 years and includes two Academy Award nominations (“In America” and “Blood Diamond”), action blockbusters like “Furious 7,” superhero movies such as “Shazam!” and collaborations with Steven Spielberg (“Amistad”) and Ridley Scott (“Gladiator”), yet he told The Guardian that he still feels “tremendously cheated” when it comes to Hollywood pay.
“I’m still struggling to try to make a dollar!” Hounsou said. “I’ve come up in the business with some people who are absolutely well off and have very little of my accolades. So I feel cheated, tremendously cheated, in terms of finances and in terms of the workload as well.”

“I’ve gone to studios for meetings and they’re like: ‘Wow, we felt like you just got off the boat and then went back [after ‘Amistad’]. But it is what it is. It’s up to me to redeem that.”
“I still have to prove why I need to get paid,” he added. “They always come at me with a complete low ball: ‘We only have this much for the role, but we love you so much and we really think you can bring so much’… Film after film, it’s a struggle. I have yet to meet the film that paid me fairly.”
Hounsou said Hollywood has overlooked him from the beginning, starting with his breakthrough role as a rebellious enslaved person in Spielberg’s “Amistad.” Despite earning universal acclaim, it was his co-star Anthony Hopkins who got the film’s sole Oscar nomination. With 2016’s “Blood Diamond,” the Academy nominated Hounsou for supporting actor and his co-star Leonardo DiCaprio for lead actor, despite the film equally focusing on Hounsou’s character.
“I felt seriously cheated,” Hounsou told The Guardian. “Today, we talk so much about the Oscars being so white, but I remember there was a time where I had no support at all: no support from my own people, no support from the media, from the industry itself. It felt like: ‘You should be happy that you’ve got nominated,’ and that’s that.”
Hounsou is now back in theaters as a wizard in Warner Bros.’ “Shazam! Fury of the Gods.” It’s a supporting role that has been greatly expanded compared to the limited screen time he got in the first “Shazam!” movie.
“Out of them all, the DC universe has a level of respect,” Hounsou said. “There wasn’t much to the role at first, and I did it and it was fun. But the second time around it was a little more respectful.”
“From time to time, [Hollywood] themselves make the point of saying: ‘We should give him more, he’s a little under-appreciated.’ I think they recognize that themselves,” Hounsou concluded. “Hey, it’s the struggle I have to overcome!”

Denzel Washington Reuniting With Ridley Scott On ‘Gladiator’ Sequel At Paramount
Almost 16 years ago Denzel Washington and Ridley Scott wowed audiences with their hit crime drama American Gangster, and now it looks like the the two A-listers are ready to get back together in a big way. Sources tell Deadline that Washington is in final negotiations to co-star in Scott’s sequel to his Oscar Best Picture winner Gladiator for Paramount.
Paul Mescal is on board to star opposite Washington, with Scott returning to the director’s chair.
Scott also will produce with Scott Free president Michael Pruss as well as Doug Wick & Lucy Fisher via Red Wagon Entertainment. David Scarpa penned the script. Walter Parkes and Laurie MacDonald are executive producing.
Also returning from the original film are costume designer Janty Yates and production designer Arthur Max.
The first film was co-production between Universal and DreamWorks, and while DreamWorks will not be involved in the sequel, Universal has the right to partner again when the project is packaged.
Once Mescal was locked for the project, Scott and Paramount Pictures President & CEO Brian Robbins and Co-Presidents Daria Cercek and Michael Ireland pushed hard for a star for the other major role in the film and took a shot with Washington, the two-time Oscar winner. When the offer was first presented there it was unknown whether he would actually do it; Washington is known for his great taste in projects and doesn’t sign up for anything. But after reading the script, sources close to the project said he was excited about the bad-ass role Scott had written with him in mind.
A meeting with Scott soon followed, and after the director gave his pitch, Washington was all but on board.
The new film follows the 2000 blockbuster Gladiator, which earned more than $460 million in worldwide box office and was nominated for 12 Academy Awards, winning five including Best Picture.
The role of Maximus, the Roman general-turned-gladiator, was a career-changer for Russell Crowe, not only delivering him the Best Actor Oscar but also launching him to the top of every leading-man list. Once it was made clear last year that the sequel would be Scott’s next movie, every male actor in town that fit the profile began chasing the part.
Mescal won’t be replacing Crowe’s Maximus, whose character met his end in the original film. Instead he plays Lucius, the son of Lucilla (Connie Nielsen), as a grown man as the story takes place years after the first film ended. Lucius also was the nephew of Commodus (Joaquin Phoenix), the son of Roman leader Marcus Aurelius who murdered his father and seized the throne. Commodus wound up in the gladiator ring with Maximus who, though mortally wounded, skewered the emperor before fading into the great beyond to reunite with his slain wife and son. Maximus saved the Lucius and Lucilla while avenging his own family, and left a strong impression on the young boy.
Washington has always had strong ties not only to Ridley but also the Scott family, starring in several films of Ridley’s late brother Tony prior to his death in 2012. After working on Tony Scott thrillers like Crimson Tide and Man on Fire, Washington finally teamed with Ridley Scott on the 2007 crime thriller American Gangster (ironically, that film also starred Crowe). It was a box office hit, and for years Washington and Scott have been looking for that next big thing on which to team.
Washington was last seen in his Oscar-nominated role in Apple and A24’s The Tragedy of Macbeth. He can be seen next in the third Equalizer film for Sony that bows later this year. He is repped by WME.
'Drag Race' Star Jinkx Monsoon Slams Wave Of Anti-Drag Laws
"RuPaul's Drag Race" star Jinkx Monsoon doubled down on her denouncement of the Republican-led legislative push to restrict drag performances, in an interview that aired Friday on MSNBC's "The 11th Hour With Stephanie Ruhle."
“What I want to say to the people trying to oppress my community right now, is look what’s happened every time you’ve tried to oppress a community in America,” Monsoon told Ruhle. “You tried to oppress women, women got the vote. You tried to oppress people of color, we’re not accepting that anymore.”
She added, "We’re not accepting that some citizens just have to sit on the outside and be the outliers of our society, because that’s not what this country was supposedly founded on."
Lawmakers in at least 16 states have so far this year proposed legislation that would restrict drag performances, according to an NBC News analysis. The majority of the bills would ban the performances in the presence of minors and fine repeat violators thousands of dollars. Some would ban the art form in public and would send repeat violators to prison.
This month, Tennessee became the first state to enact such legislation, banning “adult cabaret entertainment” on public property or in locations where it can be viewed by minors. Performers who violate the law more than once can be charged with a felony and sent to prison for up to six years.
Supporters argue that these measures are necessary to safeguard children against exposure to inappropriate entertainment.
Critics, like Monsoon, say these bills unfairly target the art form because of its deep ties to the LGBTQ community.
Monsoon, who is currently playing the role of Matron “Mama” Morton in Broadway’s “Chicago,” won season five of "RuPaul's Drag Race" and season seven of "RuPaul's Drag Race All Stars." She speculated that the recent wave of anti-drag legislation is a response to the "fear" of shifting gender norms in America.
“We have been conditioned to believe that there is a 'right' and 'wrong' way to do things and that there’s a 'natural' and an 'unnatural' way to do things," she said. “Imagine how infuriating that would be if you spent your whole life following the rules and then you were told those rules don’t actually exist."
She added, "We should be being told that whatever works for you is natural and normal and right."
Monsoon, who identifies as nonbinary and uses they/them pronouns when not in drag, also addressed a controversial speech at the Conservative Political Action Conference this month, where a speaker said “transgenderism must be eradicated from public life entirely." She said the speaker's remark wasn't actually what scared her most.
"What scares me more is the people who clapped for it," she said.

"And if you have to move to a more metropolitan area, until the rest of the country catches up, you know, do what it takes to keep yourself safe and find your community so that you can live your life truthfully and unapologetically."

The mother of the teenager that fell to his death on an amusement park ride, Tyre Sampson, has reached a settlement in a wrong death lawsuit.
During a press conference on Wednesday, Michael Haggard, the attorney representing Tyre Sampson’s mother Nekia Dodd, announced that she reached a settlement with ICON Park, and Orlando Eagle Drop Slingshot. Although the terms of the settlement were not discussed, Dodd expressed her desire to utilize the settlement to support community sports and schools as a means of preserving her son’s legacy.
Last year, 14-year-old Tyre Sampson attended ICON Park while enjoying his spring break vacation. Unfortunately, Sampson lost his life when he fell over 100 feet after slipping out of his seat while riding the Orlando FreeFall. Shortly after, the ride operator closed the attraction following Sampson’s tragic death.
“It’s a bittersweet moment,” Dodd said. “The ride is coming down, and I’m thankful for that. But my son’s not coming back. My son took his last breath on this ride. So it’s hard. It’s heartbreaking.”
In addition, ICON Park also gave a statement regarding the dismantle of the ride.
“While the FreeFall ride is not owned and was not controlled or operated by ICON Park, because it is a tenant on the property, we agree with the owner’s decision to dismantle the ride and our hearts are with the family as they witness this important milestone,” the statement said.
Nevertheless, a Florida bill titled “The Tyre Sampson Act” was introduced following the incident, that aims to protect amusement park riders with stricter safety regulations.
