The Queen Madonna poses for Vogue UK - June 2019
The Queen of Pop Madonna's return to the spotlight is in full swing.
After a performance at the Billboard Music Awards this week, the iconic singer is currently on the cover of British Vogue.

The photos evoke an Old Hollywood vibe, with Madonna appearing in a bathtub in full makeup and glam. The film noir-inspired shoot is accompanied by an interview, where she talks about fighting for her success as a woman in the music industry.
“She truly lives each of her reincarnations, even when the cameras are off: English aristo, hip-hop diva, country-music maven, corporate warrior, earth mother, disco yogi, Marilyn, Eva, lace gloves and Gaultier corsetry. She has done it all,” the magazine notes along with stunning black and white pictures teasing the upcoming issue.
Madonna collaborated with photographers Mert Alas and Marcus Piggott, and fashion editor Benjamin Bruno to create images that were “influenced by leading feminists of the mid-20th century, whose legacy Madonna not only admires but relates to.”

“There are no living role models for me. Because nobody does what I do. And that’s kind of scary.” Cover star #Madonna sits down with Decca Aitkenhead in the June 2019 issue of #BritishVogue,
“As a woman I had to fight to get where I am now.” This month, cover star @Madonna collaborated on a series of images influenced by leading feminists of the mid-20th century, whose legacy she not only admires but relates to.

On Friday, Madonna also released a new song entitled "I Rise." The single features an opening with words from Parkland shooting survivor Emma Gonzalez calling for stricter gun control.
"I'm going through it/ Yeah, I know you see the tragic in it/ Just hold on to the little bit of magic in it," the lyrics sound. "Died a thousand times/ Managed to survive/ I can't break down now."
Referring to her 14th studio album and the new generation of music fans, Madonna had one thing to say- “I hope they appreciate it.”

Madame X will be released on June 14. The June issue of British Vogue hits stands on May 10.

Diana Ross Says she felt ‘violated’ after TSA pat-down following her Big performance at New Orleans Jazz Fest
Music superstar Diana Ross was on a high after her performance at the New Orleans Jazz & Heritage Festival over the weekend, but that was punctured by an intrusive pat-down at the airport that left her feeling “violated,” the singer said just hours later via Twitter.
“OK so on one hand I’m treated like royalty in New Orleans and at the airport I was treated like s--t,” the music icon wrote early Sunday morning, apparently after going through airport security with the Transportation Security Administration (TSA). “Let me be clear, not the people of Delta BUT TSA , was over the top!! Makes me want to cry!!!”
She elaborated further in another tweet.

“It’s not what was done but how,” she wrote. “I am feeling violated - I still feel her hands between my legs, front and back ( saying to me it’s her job) WOW!! Really mixed emotions - I always like to see the good things but not feeling good right now.”
Ross received hundreds of comments of support and commiseration, from people who had had the same thing happen to them, to those who expressed indignation and outrage that such a cultural icon of a performer could be treated so disrespectfully.
Ross, 75, later seemed to be recovering from the intrusive experience, sharing a clip of herself performing “Stop! In the Name of Love” before a field of fans stretching to the horizon.

“TSA is committed to ensuring all travelers are treated with respect and courtesy,” agency spokesman Mark Howell told The New Orleans Advocate in a statement. “TSA is aware of concerns presented by Diana Ross about her screening experience at Louis Armstrong New Orleans International Airport this morning.”

Officers on internal video appeared to have followed proper protocol, the statement said.
“However, TSA leadership will continue to investigate the matter further,” Howell said. “We encourage Ms. Ross to reach out to TSA so we can work with her directly to address her concerns.”
Ross’s airport experience came after a sparkling – both literally and figuratively – 80-minute set that entailed donning several outfits, according to the New Orleans Times-Picayune.

Billboard flagged Ross’s performance as a highlight of the festival.
“Ross’s band sounded as tight as the Funk Brothers ever did, and her background singers were on point as The Supremes ever were,” the music magazine noted. “Ross’s set - which spanned over 80 minutes, included five wardrobe changes, pulled from over 50 years of hits and worked in an ‘I Will Survive’ reprise for a second encore - was possibly one of the finest and most anticipated sets Jazz Fest has seen in its 50-year history.”

#Empire: Recap Season 5, Ep. 17 Lucious Needs To Keep His Eyes On The Road!
Meanwhile, Lucious is driving down a winding street and daydreaming as he comes to terms with his son’s health condition. On the radio is an old Bobby Caldwell classic, “What You Won’t Do (Do For Love).” He’s having flashbacks to Andre’s better days as a young boy and a young man. And then? He swerves across the street, narrowly misses another SUV and crashes into a railing. He hits his head hard and blacks out.

When Lucious comes to – or thinks he comes to - he sees a trio of people that he either killed, had killed or were killed in front of him. The first is Bunkie Williams (Antoine McKay), the second is Shyne Johnson (Xzibit) and the third is his dad. Bunk shows up in Lucious bedroom and bathroom and talks to him. Bunk’s message to Lucious is that he’s killed for less, and even though Andre was the son that Lucious “got right” it’s a shame to leave him hanging.  Lucious repeats to Bunk: “I can’t kill my son.”

Lucious suddenly come to – or thinks he comes to – and wakes up in a hospital. As he is awaiting the doctor to come check him out, he hears a voice. It’s Shyne. Shyne’s message is that Lucious doesn’t have the heart to kill his son, especially since he hired other people to kill Shyne.  A few scenes later Lucious is walking into a studio at Empire and he hears some old school music playing. The Spinners are on, singing “I’ll Be Around.”

Lucious and his pop bust a move, the same moves The Spinners often used when performing back in the day. And his dad reminds him of the day he died – shot in the head in front of a stunned Lucious – whose born name was Dwight. “Your son needs to have you love him like a man,” is his dad’s advice.

Clearly Lucious has a concussion. While Lucious was blacking out and coming to, there were other things happening in the world of Empire.

#NewMusicVideo from Fantasia She Returns With new Music “Enough”
Fantasia returns with her brand new single and video for “Enough”. This is Fantasia’s first new single in nearly three years and it’s more than worth the wait.
“Enough” was recorded with a live band and is a soulful song that pulls influences from 90’s R&B. If you listen closely, we think we can even hear a subtle sample of Tamia’s “You Put a Move On My Heart”.

The visual was directed by Derek Blanks and features an opening dialogue from Fantasia stating she’s looking for love after years of performing across the globe. Throughout the film, the man of her dreams desperately tries to find her while Fantasia is performing, before the two share an embrace at the end in the rain.

WATCH HERE

Fantasia shared the following message with her fans about the song, proceeding to thank many of the greats who came before her:
I welcome all of you who truly love soulful & heart-felt music into the inner court of my creative & emotional process for how I approached my new single “Enough”. Sometimes we have to take a look back in order to find the Inspiration that we need in order to move forward!

This is likely the first single from her upcoming album “Sketchbook” which doesn’t have a release date yet. She recently teased a collaboration with Brandy and Jazmine Sullivan that is to appear on the album.

HipHopNews: DJ Spinderella Says She Was Kicked Out Of Salt-N-Pepa!
After more than 30 years, DJ Spinderella has apparently been kicked out of Salt-N-Pepa. The legendary DJ announced the news on Instagram on Thursday (May 2).
“I'm deeply saddened to share with all the #SaltnPepa and #Spinderella fans that I will not be performing on the #NKOTB Mixtape Tour. Despite my participation in promoting the tour and being highly publicized as one of the acts, in January 2019 I received a ‘termination’ email from #SaltnPepa excluding me from performances with the group," Spinderella said. "It was my expectation, after making that decision, that they would also take responsibility for sharing the news with the public and other affected parties. It has been months now with no mention. Out of love for my fans and a commitment to upholding a standard of professionalism, I've taken it upon myself to let everyone know."

I refuse to participate in misleading fans, ticketholders, and others who -- based on all the advertising -- were anticipating seeing the iconic #SaltnPepa and #Spinderella trio. So, I'm making it clear now. Please know you will have the opportunity to see me this summer in many other projects and activities I'll be participating in and I look forward to seeing you all then.” Thank you, Spinderella 😘
A post shared by SPINDERELLA and Christy’s Mom (@djspinderella) on
Spinderella has been a part of the pioneering group since 1987, and recently began a BET reality show with her groupmates, along with fellow 1990s group SWV. A rep for Spin confirmed to TooFab that the split will play out on the show, and she will remain a part of the cast and appear in every episode.
Spinderella's announcement came just hours before the kickoff of the New Kids On The Block tour, which includes Salt-N-Pepa, Tiffany, Naughty by Nature and Debbie Gibson on the lineup. Salt and Pep performed without their longtime DJ, but made no mention of her absence. A rep for the pair told TooFab they were "aware" of Spinderella's post, but made no further comment on the matter.

'Avengers: Endgame' Rules at # 1, While The Intruder intrudes into second place and ‘Ugly Dolls was an ugly Third!
In just twelve days of global release Avengers: Endgame is already the second largest worldwide release of all-time, topping $2 billion globally and delivering over $619 million at the domestic box office. Lost in its wake, the weekend's three new wide releases were led by the Screen Gems thriller The Intruder while Lionsgate's Long Shot and STX's animated feature UglyDolls finished the weekend on the lower end of expectations.

With an estimated $145.8 million, Avengers: Endgame came up just a bit shy of the record $149.2 million second weekend for Star Wars: The Force Awakens, but this may be an example of Disney being just a bit cautious. Tomorrow may reveal the film was able to top the record mark set by Force Awakens once weekend actuals are released, but even without that record Endgame has now grossed nearly $620 million at the domestic box office, already ranking as the ninth largest domestic release of all-time after just ten days in theaters. Just how high it will climb remains difficult to nail down, but a domestic gross topping $900 million seems like an extreme possibility.

In the runner-up position we find Sony's release of the Screen Gems thriller The Intruder, which delivered an estimated $11 million from 2,222 locations. The film received a "B-" CinemaScore from opening day audiences while playing to a weekend crowd that was 53% female and 68% of the overall audience was aged 25 or older. The film outperformed the studio's $9 million expectations and came in a bit higher than Mojo's pre-release forecast.

Lionsgate's release of Long Shot came in on the lower end of expectations, delivering an estimated $10 million debut and a third place finish. The film was the best reviewed title among new releases, but audiences wither weren't all that interested, or Endgame was too much of a juggernaut or perhaps there was just too much of a crossover among the weekend's new offerings, all of which skewed female with Long Shot playing to a crowd that was 56% female while 68% of the opening weekend audience was aged 35 or older. The film received a so-so "B" CinemaScore and will hope to receive some solid word of mouth as it heads into its second weekend, though the competition looking ahead doesn't get much easier.

Struggling in its debut, STX's UglyDolls took in an estimated $8.5 million from 3,652 theaters for a soft, $2,330 per theater average. The animated feature received a "B+" CinemaScore from the opening day crowd while the full weekend played to an audience that was 64% female. The film's performance is just behind the $8.9 million debut for My Little Pony back in October 2017 and that film went on to gross $21.8 million domestically and just over $60 million globally. The difference between the two films, however, is UglyDolls carries a production budget of a reported $45 million (though Deadline.com is reporting a budget closer to $53 million), which, while small, is considerable when compared to the just $6.5 million for My Little Pony.

Rounding out the top five is Disney and Marvel's Captain Marvel with an estimated $4.2 million as the film has now pushed over $420 million domestically. The film also added another $1.2 million internationally as its global cume climbs to $1.12 billion.

Tamar Braxton Says She's 'Too Drained' To Attend The Funeral of her Niece Lauren!
Tamar, decked out in her show lingerie, posted about helping Kandi Burruss - whom she has a renewed friendship with - kick off the sexy Dungeon Tour in Chicago the other night:
Before opening night, she posted an IG story telling her fans how tired and drained she is, especially with all the fighting with her family. She said she has to promote "Braxton Family Values," but feels off doing so when it's full of beef and arguing, considering the hard time their family is going through currently. That hard time is the death of her niece, her brother Mikey's daughter, Lauren, whom she said she just can't bring herself to post about.
Tamar revealed this is the first time someone in their fam has passed away, so it's a difficult time. Interestingly, she then said she's "too drained" to attend her funeral and doesn't have time. She asked her Tamartian fans to come out to The Dungeon Party to give her energy.

Folks had plenty to say. Soon after, she posted the below about not judging how and when people grieve. We assume in response to people questioning why she couldn't muster up energy to attend the funeral of her brother's daughter:

That's fine. But was a public announcement about being too tired and "drained" to attend your niece's funeral necessary, when they could possibly misinterpret the reasoning?

‘CBS This Morning’ Co-Hosts Shakeup Gayle King stays Norah O’Donnell, Bianna Golodryga OUT!
Gayle King, staying with CBS This Morning, will be joined by Anthony Mason and Tony Dokoupil next season.
CBS News isn’t talking, because it wanted to made the announcement closer to its Upfront presentation in Manhattan the second week of May, but sources agreed with intel first appearing in King’s de facto newsletter, Page Six.

For weeks and weeks it’s been reported King was pounding out a new multi-year deal with CBS News that would keep her on the show, now as main anchor.
New-ish division president Susan Zirinsky, who officially took over in March, has been working on an overhaul of the morning show, which has suffered from bad ratings since Charlie Rose got sacked in wake of a sexual harassment report in Washington Post, taking viewers with him.
King had been expected to be the program’s only surviving member, since even before her boffo interview with R. Kelly, who she said she’d met several years ago at a party.

Among King’s former colleagues CBS News that confirmed co-host of just six months Bianna Golodryga had left the division rather than accept a different assignment. She remains a contributor at CNN, where she shines as a political contributor, looking far more comfortable than she ever looked in her few months on CBS’ morning show.

The morning after Golodryga’s exit, CBS News made it official that Diana Miller, the morning show’s senior broadcast producer, was the program’s new executive producer, replacing Ryan Kadro.
Still to come, CBS This Morning co-host Norah O’Donnell is expected to move to the also-ratings-challenged evening newscast, replacing Jeff Glor, who was brought in from CBSN when former CBS News chief David Rhodes famously removed Scott Pelley, whose office was cleaned out while he was on assignment for 60 Minutes. Glor’s expected to be given a new assignment, per Zirinsky’s public statement she wants to make sure everyone is in the right place at CBS News.

Meanwhile, CBS This Morning co-host John Dickerson is said to be bound for 60 Minutes, where he is expected to focus on politics, his area of expertise. Dickerson excelled as host of CBS’ Sunday Beltway show, for which he was rewarded by being moved to the thankless job of taking over for Rose on the morning show, to remove that seat’s tarnish.

Michael Ealy Opens Up About That Time He Turned Down The Starring Role In Beyoncé’s ‘Irreplaceable’ Video
Actor Michael Ealy has been highly sought after in movies and tv for many years. And in one of the rare instances he had to turn down a role, it was for none other than Queen Bey herself.

Michael appeared on the E! show ‘Busy Tonight’ to promote his new film, ‘The Intruder’ and revealed that he was first tapped to star in the music video for Beyonce’s iconic breakup anthem, “Irreplaceable,” but had to pass…for an understandable reason.

“I said no originally… I said no to ‘Irreplaceable’”, Ealy said. “I didn’t want to be the guy who she said, ‘To the left, to the left’ to. Who wants to be that guy? It’s like the worst thing ever,” he explained.

And lucky for him, Beyonce gave him another shot and tapped him for ‘Halo,’ to which he obliged. “Then they called back again when they did ‘Halo,’ and I was like, ‘Let me hear the song.’ I heard the song, and I was like, ‘I can do that, for sure.'”

Michael even shared with show host, Busy Philipps, how the experience felt working so closely with Mrs. Knowles-Carter. “It’s as amazing as people think it is. And she sings to you. She would lip sync, and every now and again I [would] hear her actually sing, and I would be like, ‘Oh my gosh! Focus! Act, Michael. Act!'”

So, if you got asked to do a Beyonce visual, would you turn her down?

For The First Time Ever Black Women Have Been Crowned Miss USA, Miss Teen USA & Miss America!
Three Black women are currently wearing beauty pageant crowns in 2019: Cheslie Kryst as Miss USA, Kaliegh Garris as Miss Teen USA and Nia Franklin as Miss America. And for the first time in history, black girls reigned supreme in all three of the top beauty pageants in the country simultaneously; further proving that black is indeed beautiful!

Not only did these ladies win the competitions, but Kryst and Garris had their crowns placed on their natural, curly hair…an image that young black girls needed to see. Garris told Refinery21 that some people tried to convince her to straighten her hair for the Miss Teen USA competition, but she opted for her natural curls because she felt confident in doing so.

Kaleigh Garris is a Connecticut native, and although still in high school, she plans to attend Southern Connecticut State University’s nursing program to become a trauma nurse in the future. Chelsie Kryst represents North Carolina and is a civil litigation attorney who received her law degree and MBA from Wake Forest University.

Nia Franklin represented New York and was crowned Miss America in September 2018, holding down the top spot for the 2019 season. Franklin holds a master’s degree in music composition from UNC School of the Arts and is an opera singer and advocate for the arts.
We’ll be rooting for Kryst as she represents the United States in the 2019 Miss Universe competition later, this year.

Congratulations Kaleigh Garris, Nia Franklin, and Chelsie Kryst!

The Third Season of John Singleton’s “Snowfall” Set To Premiere This Summer
Just days after legendary film director, John Singleton, passed away due to complications of a stroke, FX chairman, John Landgraf, has announced the return of one of Singleton’s last projects, “Snowfall.”

According to Deadline, the series, which is set in the 1980s during the crack epidemic in Los Angeles, remained in production after Singleton’s initial hospitalization last month and continued filming earlier this week upon learning its co-creator, director and executive producer had been taken off life support.

“Everybody is sad, but everybody is also moving forward because that’s what John would’ve wanted,” ‘Snowfall’ executive producer Trevor Engleson, who was also Singleton’s manager, said of the devastating news. “It felt like the actors were hearing what John would’ve said, ‘Use that real-life emotion in your performance’” he added, as he revealed the crew filmed a sad, dramatic scene that day.

Though Singleton, who was reportedly hands-on for the show, directed every ‘Snowfall’ season finale, prior to his untimely death, he offered the opportunity to Sunu Gonera so that he could work on his longtime passion project, which was an Emmett Til film starring Taraji P. Henson, produced by Steven Spielberg. However, when the film fell through to work more on the budget, Singleton allowed Gonera to keep the position, and now, the show remains on track for its summer premiere.

According to FX, the highly anticipated third season will premiere on July 10 at 10 pm.

Usher’s Herpes Accuser Files To Dismiss $20 Million Lawsuit
Nearly two years after Usher was accused of exposing a woman to herpes in a $20 million lawsuit, the victim, Laura Helm, has filed to dismiss her case.

In court documents obtained TMZ, Helm filed to dismiss her suit, claiming the two had reached “an amicable resolution.” Although further details about the resolution remain unclear, sources say the dismissal was filed with prejudice, which is normal procedure in the event of a financial settlement.

Helm filed her suit back in 2017, claiming the singer exposed her to herpes after unprotected sex. She initially demanded $10 million but doubled her price for emotional harm and punitive damages. But now, after an amicable agreement, the case is closed.
