Jaden Smith Reveals Plan To Save The Planet In New Vman Cover Interview
The fashion industry is slowly moving in a more sustainable direction, with designers like Mara Hoffman committing to eco-friendly practices, and organizations like the CFDA helping designers change their business models. With that in mind, it should come as no surprise that younger figures in the industry, like Jaden Smith, have big ideas about saving the planet as well.

In the new issue of VMan (for which he also appears on the cover), Smith opens up about his longtime interest in the ocean, and how plastic is becoming a growing problem. “I started surfing when I was really young. I learned how the ocean is alive, and has tides,” he said. “Then, I learned about the environment and the ecosystem, and discovered we’re putting out so many CO2 emissions, creating plastic for agriculture and even for processed meats. We start to overheat the planet, melt ice caps, and water levels start to rise. It’s only getting worse.”

Learning about the oceans inspired Smith to start Just Water, his bottled water company that features a paper- and plant-based packaging, removing plastic as a container. But simply removing plastic from the equation is only the beginning for the young star. He also wants to find ways to recycle the plastic already in our oceans.
“If you combine a lot of plastic together and melt it down, it almost becomes cinder block. You can use trash to create an entirely new structure,” he explained. “I feel like it can spark a new industry: I’m trying to make and create so many things out of recycled plastic. If you raise the price of plastic on the ground and in the oceans, more people will begin to pick up trash.”

It’s an interesting theory, and one that is already being put into practice by the fashion industry. Emma Watson wore a Calvin Klein dress to the 2016 Met Gala that was made out of recycled plastic, and Stella McCartney has partnered with Parley for the Oceans, a non-profit group fighting marine plastic pollution. With his sense of style, Smith should perhaps consider working on a clothing line that combines his love of fashion with his love of the ocean. SZA is doing it!

#RHoA: Phaedra Parks and Kandi Burruss was an All Star-Studded Party in Atlanta and AVOIDED each other!
More than a year after getting the ax from “The Real Housewives of Atlanta,” it seems Phaedra Parks is continuing to keep herself above the fray by letting her hair down and having some fun.
The former reality star, was having a good ole time with the Atlanta music elite. Parks’ fellow club goers included producers Jazze Pha and Dallas Austin and songwriter and producer Bryan-Michael Cox. It seems everyone who is everyone was out Saturday night at L.A. Reid’s release party in support of his Hitco Music label signee BoNfYre’s new EP, “Ready To Love.”  Burruss was also spotted at the event but notably, she and Parks did not get a photo together, according to the images on their respective Instagram pages.
Fans who noticed Parks busting a move in her golden dress and equally as bright makeup eagerly gassed up the single mother of two.

All of that and her and Kandi manages to avoid each other? WOW!

#HipHopNews: Nicki Minaj Explains Why Drake Isn't On "Queen"
Nicki Minaj was a recent guest on DJ Whoo Kid’s Sirius XM Shade 45 show The Whoolywood Shuffle, where she opened up about a myriad of topics, including her new album Queen.
The self-proclaimed Queen of Rap also explained why Drake wasn’t on the project. She points to his busy tour schedule and not wanting to push the release date back (again).

“Drake and I were working on something,” she said. “But I didn’t want to change the date of the album. About two days before I had to turn it in, he and I had been going back and forth. Within 12 hours of having to turn in the album, we were going back and forth ’cause he had come to my studio we found something we really, really loved.

“He was also going through the process of getting stuff right for his tour and I had to understand that. As an artist, I always try to put myself in the artists’ shoes and not try to be selfish.”
Nicki also made sure to reiterate that she doesn’t need any major guest features to have a successful album.

“My thing is like, ‘Yo, I don’t need anybody. I stand on my own two feet.’ I always keep on reminding myself, ‘Onika, when you was putting out your mixtapes you ain’t have no big name people to put on there.’
“Wayne came after and then even with Wayne, Wayne would come in with a verse and that was that, and that was the icing on the cake. But, it was me grinding and if I have to do that again, then so fucking be it. Nobody’s gonna make or break me. I’m gonna do me.”

Elsewhere in the interview, Nicki talks about people taking “Barbie Dreams” too seriously, diffusing The Game’s beef with Tekashi 6ix9ine, the impact of losing someone like XXXTENTACION, what it’s like having JAY-Z as an unofficial A&R and Beyoncé giving her props during an awards show wardrobe malfunction and more.

Rihanna Is A Gorgeous Bridesmaid At Friend's Barbados Wedding
Rihanna makes for one stunning bridesmaid. The "Work" singer was by her long-time friend Sonita Alexander's side for her wedding day in Barbados on Saturday (August 18). RiRi returned to her home country for her bestie's big day, which was full of laughs, fun, and, of course, selfies.

Rihanna was spotted wearing a blue dress while her hair was sleeked down in a tight pony.
The "Wild Thoughts" singer shared multiple snaps from Sonita's wedding day, including one pre-ceremony shot of her and Sonita posing for a beautiful selfie. In another post, the two showed off their "Bridesmaid" and "Mrs. Walker" silk robes with a cute Boomerang.  And in one video, which seemed to be taken after the ceremony, Rihanna and Sonita posed for pictures as Melissa Forde (RiRi's other bestie), gave them directions behind the camera.
After Sonita said "I do," it was time for the reception, which is where Rihanna made it very clear she's not looking to get married anytime soon. When it was time for the throwing of the bouquet, Rihanna nearly hit the floor to ensure she was not the one to catch it.  Watch the funny video here!
Sonita wasn't the first to ask Rihanna to be a bridesmaid. Back in 2015, Rihanna took on the honorary title for her friend Jennifer Rosales' Hawaiian wedding on 4/20.

THE BOSS! Diana Ross Says She Felt Violated By TSA
Don’t you hate having a TSA agent deep dive into your luggage during a security check.
Diana Ross took to Twitter over the weekend to share her frustrations after catching the TSA fade at the airport.

The legendary singer tweeted it “feels like a violation” when a “stranger goes through your personal belongings” and NEVER put things back the way you packed it.

After venting, Diana added that despite her complaints, she is still appreciative of the airlines and flight staff.
And I’m thankful For being able to fly in these magnificent airplanes and I’m thankful for the pilots and the crews and I’m thankful for all the security that is in place for us. I put my complaints behind and I stay grateful and appreciative for each day.

Her tweets below.
I truly Understand how you feel Miss Ross!

Kelly Clarkson Has A Classy Response To A Homophobic Twitter Troll
Kelly Clarkson has long been a supporter of LGBTQ causes and has helped more than one same-sex couple get engaged throughout her career.
Kelly Clarkson had no qualms about standing up to an anti-LGBTQ tweeter who criticized her praise for a newlywed same-sex couple.

The couple, Kiana and Amanda Clark, got engaged after Clarkson invited them onstage during a 2016 performance. On Sunday, Kiana tweeted Clarkson a photograph of the pair in their wedding gowns.

Clarkson retweeted the image and sent her congratulations.
The image, however, didn’t sit well with a Twitter user identified as Terri D. Fallis, who said she loved Clarkson’s music but then rudely dismissed the two women, calling same-sex marriage “still a sin any way you cut it.”
Clarkson, a Grammy-winning “American Idol” veteran who is reportedly gearing up to launch a daytime talk show, is an outspoken supporter of LGBTQ rights and has frequently embraced her queer fan base.
In 2017, she helped one of her fans, Alex Malerba, propose to his boyfriend, Justin Blake, when the two were ushered backstage after a performance in Las Vegas.

Meanwhile, her music video for 2015′s “Heartbeat Song” featured a gay couple who got engaged while on set.
“I don’t ever look at a fan as a gay fan or a lesbian fan or a straight fan – I don’t ever look at that,” Clarkson told PrideSource in 2015. “Fans are fans, and no matter what our lives are like, no matter what path we’re on, music is the one thing that connects us.”

Asked how she’d react if one of her children identified as LGBTQ and began dating a same-sex partner, she added, “I’d be like, ‘Awesome! When do we meet him or her?’”

Simone Biles Makes History With National Gymnastics Championship Sweep
On tnhe way to G.O.A.T status. Simone Biles has set a new record, becoming the first woman to win all five gold medals at the National Gymnastics Championship since Dominique Dawes in 1994.

The four-time Rio Olympic gold medalist won her record fifth U.S. all-around title, in only the second meet since her comeback.

“I knew I was capable of [scoring this well], but I kind of thought I was going to be a nervous wreck and maybe fall apart. Going into these events, I know I kept telling my family like I don’t know if I’m going to be able to calm myself down the way I did before and handle the nerves, but so far, so good.” She told NBC Sports.
Biles took a 14-month hiatus after her win in #Rio. She returned to training last November with new coaches Cecile and Laurent Landi and began competitions three weeks ago, winning the #USClassic with an uneven bar fall.
At 21, she is the first non-teen to win the U.S. women’s all-around since 1971, according to gymnastic stats.

Congratulations to Simone Biles! Keep giving us that #BlackGirlMagic

This is The Real Reason Toni Braxton Pushed Back Her Wedding To Birdman
When rumors began flying that R&B star Toni Braxton was engaged to hip hop mogul Bryan “Birdman” Williams, folks didn’t believe it. But when Braxton confirmed their engagement back in February, it appeared that the pair would soon be jumping the broom.
Only, there’s just one problem: Braxton can’t seem to settle on a date.
“Y’all gotta help me with the wedding,” the Grammy winner confessed to sisters Towanda and Trina on the season premiere of their show, Braxton Family Values. “I don’t have a wedding date.”

That revelation was news to the Braxton’s sisters, who thought the couple planned to tie the knot in August.

Normally, changing a wedding date more than once would hint that there might be trouble in paradise (or someone has cold feet), but in an exclusive clip obtained by ESSENCE, Braxton said it’s just a matter of timing.
“B and I got engaged seven months ago, but we haven’t set a date because of my schedule,” she explained after landing a movie role. “I hate that. You’re supposed to set a date and stick to it. But unfortunately in our business it can be challenging sometimes.”

To many music fans, Birdman and Braxton seem like an unlikely pair, but the singer said after knowing him for years, falling in love felt natural.
“He and I have been friends for a really long time, for, like, 17 years, and it just grew from friendship to more than that,” she told Entertainment Tonight. “So you gotta keep your friends close. You never know what can happen.”

Even better? Her family approves.

The new season of Braxton Family Values premieres Thursday at 9 p.m. on WE tv

Aaron Hernandez’s Lawyer Reveals Suicide Notes He Left For His Daughter And Fiancé: 'This Was The Supreme Almighty's Plan, Not Mine!'
Aaron Hernandez’s lawyer has revealed the suicide letters the former football player left for his daughter and fiancée.

In Hernandez’s lawyer’s Jose Baez’s new book “Unnecessary Roughness: Inside the Trial and Final Days of Aaron Hernandez;” Baez revealed details of the Patriots tight end who hanged himself in his prison cell during his life sentence for first-degree murder. Hernandez played for the Patriots from 2010 to 2013 and in his letter to his daughter, Avielle Jenkins-Hernandez, he told her to never fear him and that his life was everlasting.
⠀⠀
“Daddy will never leave you! I’m entering to the timeless realm in which I can enter into any form at any time because everything that could happen or not happened I see all at once! Life is eternal-believe!!!” Hernandez wrote. “Love, repent, and see me/yourself in everyone because that’s what the truth is! I’ll see you all in the heavens awaiting you all with the same love.”

The note continued, “Never fear me, but love me with all of you! Fear is the only separation between you and I! We are each other-I/you-you/me-there’s no need to fear but what you do unto another will come back around!”
Hernandez’s notes also included words for his fiancé. “Shay, you have always been my soul-mate and I want you to love life and know I’m always with you. I told you what was coming indirectly! I love you so much and know [you] are an angel. We split into two to come change the world! Your characteristic is that of a true angel and the definition of God’s love! Tell my story fully but never think anything besides how much I love you. This was the supreme almightys plan, not mine! I love you! Let Avi know how much I love her! Look after Jano and Eddie for me -they are my boys (You’re Rich). I KNEW I LOVED YOU = SAVAGE GARDEN. NOT MUCH TIME. I’M BEING CALLED! JOHN 3:16.”
It continued. “I love you all equally! We are all each other! Don’t shed one tear for I am with all of you and never wasn’t! Do not go back to living while worshipping false idols in which I warned you about! IT’S TIME!!! The Real Live Forever.”

He also added a section for his lawyer. “Well, I wrote this letter following my acquittal and wanted to voice how I felt and let some people whos[e] music helped me get through hard times, know that it did. Wrong or right – who knows – I just follow my natural instincts and how it guides me. Pros or cons, didn’t weigh them, but I’m sure you’ll let me know your view.”
“Besides that, I want you to know you have me forever like you never understood and time will reveal that I’m not perfect but my love and loyalty is like you’ve never seen! I appreciate all your work, time, effort, and never let that slip your mind! In time, you will see how appreciated you are, as well as all the others equally!” he continued. “I would like to send you letters so you can send to their [the artists] information or whichever way you think best. I don’t want any media really getting into me, trying to just send my love to all the artists who got me through my tough times and sending my respect to a few of the real ones out there.”

At the end, Hernandez drew a picture of a rope hanging from a noose at the bottom of the page
