#RHoA: NeNe Leakes Apologizes for Rape Comment: 'I Should Have Known Better'
NeNe Leakes has issued an apology after making a controversial comment about a heckler at her recent stand-up comedy show being raped.
"I truly regret and apologize for what I said from the stage in Oakland over the weekend," the Real Housewives of Atlanta star, 49, wrote on Facebook on Monday, October 9. "Sometimes words can cut deep and hurt when you have no intentions of them doing so. As a woman and someone who has survived abuse, I regret the words that I used. I made a mistake and I should have known better. I hope people accept my deepest and sincerest apologies. I am sorry."
Leakes made the questionable remark during a performance at the Paramount Theatre in Oakland, California, on Saturday, October 7. After she joked about male Uber drivers trying to have sex with their female passengers, the audience booed and one woman began heckling the star. "I ain't even gonna tell you about the goddamn Uber driver. I hope he rape yo' ass tonight when he take you home, bitch," Leakes fired back. "And steal yo' funky hello kitty, bitch."

#EMPIRE: Is Demi Moore turning out to be a ‘White Savior’?
Empire fans got their first glimpse of Demi Moore in the last few seconds of the show’s third season finale. She is just one of many big names in music, fashion, film, and television to grace Lee Daniel’s hit series. As an innocent-looking nurse with only a quick cameo, I hardly recognized Moore. But now that the fourth season is underway, her character is becoming more clear. As one of the few white people on the show built around Black people, Moore’s role is beginning to unintentionally play into a popular cinematic trope: the white savior.
At the end of Empire’s third season, Lucious (Terrence Howard) put his life on the line to save Cookie’s (Taraji P. Henson) and was badly injured in an explosion as a result. The last moment of the scene involved a time jump that teased Lucious’ injuries — he lost one of his legs and his memory — and Moore as Claudia, his new caretaker. In season 4, Claudia poses a direct threat to Cookie since Lucious no longer remembers who she is and how in love they were before Claudia showed up. And the new nurse isn’t doing much to help the situation.
Claudia’s official job is to help Lucious recover his memories and regain his physical strength after the accident. This is already a reach as it has Claudia playing physical therapist, psychologist, and general-care physician — but I learned long ago not to reason with Empire storylines. Anyway, Claudia is really careful not to overload Lucious. He is in a fragile state, made evident by his new prim and proper dialect, and observations that his old music was really violent. His nurse doesn’t want to overload him because many of his memories could be triggering for him. Murder is pretty traumatizing, so I understand.
However, in doing so, Claudia has taken a moral high ground on the people around Lucious. Without any memories before waking up in the hospital, his closest relationship is with Claudia. She has become the gatekeeper of his decisions and other relationships. As his family and friends try to nudge him back to his old self, Claudia is more invested in maintaining his innocence and keeping him pure of heart. This involves safeguarding him from all the “demons” that are trying to corrupt him and turn him into a “monster” — those demons are his family and lifelong friends.
It’s interesting that a white woman was cast to play Claudia — this is not at all a dig on Moore, who is an amazing actress and has had my heart ever since Ghost — as she is now personifying the white person with the heart of gold sent to save a person of color from the savagery of their own kind. It’s an outdated trope that is still evident in characters like Daenerys in Game of Thrones. So while Empire has effectively created some tension with its new character, the show may have overlooked the broader implications.
To be fair, Moore may very well end up being one of this season’s villains. For right now, though, she’s sitting firmly on the opposite end of the spectrum, and it’s just as creepy.

D12‘s Mr. Porter has updated fans going nuts over Eminem’s long-awaited Marshall Mathers LP 2 reaching completion. The Detroit native has cleared up widespread speculation about the project’s status.
Porter recently stepped up to reveal he joked about Em wrapping up the studio release.
Complex reached out to Denaun Porter, who said that his statement that Eminem was “done” with his new album was simply him joking with interneters who kept asking him about status of the long-awaited project. “They trolled the shit out of me the whole time,” he explained. “Anytime they come in there, they can expect to get trolled with any kind of question like that,” the producer said. “I’m never the person to give up that kind of information. I might say, ‘Hey, we’re working on it’ or ‘Hey, we’re close.’ But I’m never going to be the guy that gives up the information. But they can get trolled.” (Complex)

ESPN suspends Jemele Hill after she told fans to boycott NFL
The Worldwide Leader has suspended Jemele Hill for two weeks.
Jemele Hill has been suspended by ESPN, according to Sports Illustrated’s Richard Deitsch.
The host of the 6 p.m. E.T. SportsCenter with Michael Smith has been suspended for two weeks for a violation of the company’s social media policy.
Hill was previously scolded for calling Donald Trump a “white supremacist” on Twitter. This suspension likely comes as a result of her tweeting about Dallas Cowboys’ owner Jerry Jones, who said his players would be benched if they kneeled for the national anthem. Hill suggested people boycott Jones and the NFL’s sponsors, many of which are sponsors of ESPN.
Jenna Dewan Tatum: Reuniting With Janet Jackson 'Was Magical'
Time to get nasty! Janet Jackson invited her former backup dancers — including Jenna Dewan Tatum — to perform with her at the Hollywood Bowl on Sunday, October 8. As to be expected, the Step Up actress was on cloud nine.
"Such an incredible moment dancing and reuniting with Janet and the legacy of incredible dancers that only she has created!" Dewan Tatum, 36, she said in an interview. "It was a dream of mine from a very little girl to dance for her and to share the stage again with her was magical. My life, my career, all began with Janet. Full circle moment!"
Dewan Tatum was a part of Jackson's All for You Tour from 2001 to 2002. The actress shared several backstage photos from the big night on social media.
"Last night was such an incredible moment," she captioned then and now pics of herself hugging Jackson, 51, via Instagram. "Janet asked her 'kids' to come back and perform rhythm nation at the Hollywood Bowl. I dreamt of dancing with her since I was a kid and literally pinched myself every night of the All for You tour. Dannon Reportedly Signs Dak Prescott After Dropping Cam Newton
In the wake of Cam Newton’s comments to reporter Jourdan Rodrigue, Dannon severed business ties with the Carolina Panthers quarterback. On the same day, according to ESPN’s Adam Schefter, the Yogurt maker reportedly signed Dallas Cowboys quarterback Dak Prescott to a sponsorship deal.
“Dannon has already scheduled Prescott to shoot his first TV commercial this week in Dallas, per a source. It continues to be a commercial breakout time for Prescott, who now has deals with Pepsi, Frito-Lay and Beats,” the report read.
Although Newton is still under control with the Yogurt giant, the company revealed that it would no longer work with the signal-caller, as it begins to pull any ads that feature him, Schefter revealed. Now, according to Darren Rovell, with Prescott’s new $3 million Dannon deal, the quarterback will be paid five times his Cowboys base salary of $540,000.
Banana Republic Manager Who Suspended Black Worker For Her ‘Box Braids’ Has Been Fired
*The Banana Republic manager who suspended a black employee for wearing box braids — calling them too “urban” and “unkempt” — has been fired.
Destiny Tompkins, 19, a Banana Republic employee, was suspended by a manager at the Westchester Mall store in White Plains, NY for wearing box braids to work because the manager thought they didn’t fit the store’s image. When the manager said that he wouldn’t schedule her if she didn’t remove the braids, Tompkins walked out and publicly called out the store in a Facebook post that went viral.

*A rep for Banana Republic told the New York Daily News that a probe of the manager’s actions was conducted after Tompkins’ allegations went public and the manager was fired.
“This week, one of our store managers questioned an African American employee’s braided hair style. Our team began an immediate investigation and the manager involved was promptly removed from the store,” the spokesperson said. “This situation was completely unacceptable, counter to our policies, and in no way reflects our company’s beliefs and values.”
Tompkins’ Facebook post has been shared more than 52,000 times since it was posted on Oct. 4.
#OOOPS! Usher's $20 Million Herpes Accuser Just Got Caught In A Lie!
It appears that one of Usher's accusers, Laura Helm, may have been caught in a lie.
Helm claimed in a taped phone call that she never had unprotected sex with the singer, two days before filing her $20 million lawsuit.
Laura was caught in an audio clip talking to her publicist, Dennis Byron. In the recording, Helm stated that she never had unprotected sex with Usher.
She also said she had no plans to sue the singer because she had no concern about contracting herpes from the singer.
Laura stated that Usher had always worn a condom when they had sex, which was the reason she wasn't concerned about being exposed to herpes. She said in the audio clip, "That’s why they make protection, for people who have STDs."
However, just two days after the tape conversation Laura filed a lawsuit against Usher for $20 million. In the legal filing, she claims they had unprotected sex.

Laura's attorney, Lisa West, is claiming that Laura only made the comments in order to protect herself.
Helm allegedly believed her publicist was attempting to sell a story about her and Usher, claiming her client made the remarks in order to throw him off track.
West claims her client "didn’t want to be exploited and, in her attempt to deter Byron from doing so, she told him (inaccurately) that she never had protected sex with Usher and that she did not have herpes."
Laura also accused her former publicist of stalking her. However, a judge dismissed the case last week due to lack of evidence.
Harvey Weinstein Fired From His Own Company
Harvey Weinstein has been fired from his own company by the Weinstein Company’s board of directors.
The New York Times blew up Harvey’s spot with an expose detailing his sexual misconduct for over a decade.
Via Page Six: “In light of new information about misconduct by Harvey Weinstein that has emerged in the past few days, the directors of The Weinstein Company – Robert Weinstein, Lance Maerov, Richard Koenigsberg and Tarak Ben Ammar – have determined, and have informed Harvey Weinstein, that his employment with The Weinstein Company is terminated, effective immediately,” the company said in a statement.
The news comes in wake of the New York Times’ explosive expose about Weinstein, alleging decades of sexual misconduct.
Former employees and associates, including actress Ashley Judd, have accused the filmmaker and Weinstein Company co-founder of making improper advances at them.
The allegations stretch back to Weinstein’s days running his independent movie studio, Miramax.
The 65-year-old has been losing allies, as of late — with his own brother now choosing to turn his back on him and voting to force him out.
A source told Page Six on Saturday that the already fractious relationship between Weinstein and his brother, Bob, had deteriorated even further last year following the death of their 90-year-old mother, Miriam.
“After their mother died, Bob did not feel like he needed to protect Harvey anymore and cover for him,” the insider said. “That was over.”
The brothers’ famed company Miramax was named for Miriam and their father Max.
Weinstein’s lawyer, Lisa Bloom, stepped away on Saturday — along with his advisor, Lanny Davis — as more and more people jumped on the anti-Harvey bandwagon.
A third of Weinstein’s all-male board reportedly quit on Friday after several attempts to push him out failed.
He had taken an indefinite leave of absence as a result of the Times story before the board eventually voted to oust him.
According to Variety, Weinstein was ultimately fired for cause following a board meeting on Sunday.
There is reportedly no financial settlement in place to compensate the media mogul.
