“Pitch Perfect 2” Rules Weekend Box Office
The first installment of “Pitch Perfect” raked in a respectable $65 million in domestic ticket sales back in 2012, so everyone was a bit shocked when “Pitch Perfect 2” earned a whopping $70.3 million during this past weekend’s opening run!
The Elizabeth Banks-directed musical comedy beat out the highly-anticipated “Mad Max: Fury Road,” which opened with $44.4 million, as well as “Avengers: Age of Ultron” ($38.8 million), “Hot Pursuit” ($5.8 million) and “Paul Blart: Mall Cop 2” ($3.6 million).
“Pitch Perfect 2” stars Anna Kendrick, Rebel Wilson, Brittany Snow, Hailee Steinfeld, Anna Camp and Adam DeVine. Per the synopsis, “After a humiliating command performance at Lincoln Center, the Barden Bellas enter an international competition that no American group has ever won in order to regain their status and right to perform.”

Nick Gordon Still Fighting To See Bobbi Kristina
Months have gone by with no change in Bobbi Kristina’s condition and her boyfriend, Nick Gordon is still doing all he can to see the 22-year-old.
“Despite his strong desire to see Bobbi Kristina, Nick has respected the families’ wishes for over three months and has refrained from visiting or from pursuing access to her through the courts,” Nick’s lawyer, Randy Kessler told HipHollywood on Monday morning, “He has asked through counsel many times privately and now asks both the Browns and the Houstons, please let him see her.”
Bobbi was found unresponsive, face down in a bathtub full of water in January and is still fighting for her life in a rehab center in Atlanta. “She’s the same, she’s not progressing at all,” Bobbi’s grandmother, Cissy Houston recently told Entertainment Tonight’s Kevin Frazier. “She’s not gone yet, but you know, whatever the Lord decides, I’m ready for her … I have nothing to do with that. That’s His job. It’s His territory, you know? And I understand it.”
Earlier this month, a judge named Bobby Brown and BK’s aunt, Pat Houston, co-guardians of Whitney Houston and Bobby’s only child together. “We’re a family…that works together for the best,” Cissy told Frazier. “You want the best for whomever or everybody we can … We can be on the other side too if you make us be but we are not going to do that. There’s no reason for that. That’s why I’m concerned. So, that’s the end of that.”
Krissi has remained unresponsive since the incident.

Dionne Warwick owes The Federal Government 6 Million Tax Debt!
Dionne Warwick is accused of evading the IRS for 6 million dollars in back taxes she owes and now Uncle Sam is on the hunt for the money she makes through performing — and has subpoenaed all bank account and payment documents from her booking agent.
Back in 2013, Dionne filed for Chapter 7 bankruptcy claiming she only had assets totaling $25,500 but liabilities in the amount of $10,727,429. The singer’s lawyer explained that due a business manager mismanaging her finances she was drowning in tax debt.
Then, Dionne filed a lawsuit against the IRS claiming 6 million of the debt she owed them was supposed to be wiped clean. She explained since the debt owed was so old, per the law, it was to be discharged in her bankruptcy. The IRS fired back at Dionne, claiming the taxes weren’t eligible for discharge due to her having tried to evade payment to them over the years
The legal battle has been going on for over a year and Dionne’s bankruptcy is still pending.
Then on May 13th, the Federal Government filed docs in Dionne’s lawsuit demanding her booking agent, Red Entertainment, be found in contempt of court. They explain that Dionne owes them over 6 million dollars in tax debt for the years 1991 through 1999 and 2007.
They explain that Dionne may have a bank account under a different name in which Red Entertainment pays her for performances. The IRS served the booking agent with a subpoena demanding all records of bank accounts for Dionne and all accounting for payments made to the singer. The docs note the agency promised to hand over all documents but never produced a single document.
They are demanding Dionne’s agent be found in contempt for not producing the documents showing her income, because they want the information to then seize the accounts to collect on her 6 million debt.
Drake & Diddy Squash Their Beef
There now is virtually no chance of us civilians ever seeing the fade Sean “Diddy” Combs allegedly blessed Drake with (sparking hilarious memes) outside a Miami nightclub. The Bad Boy Records founder and the Toronto rapper have allegedly squashed their beef.
Reports TMZ: The hip-hop superstars have been beefing since December when Diddy put hands on Drizzy outside LIV Nightclub in Miami because he felt disrespected in a dispute over a track.
Sources close to both parties say they finally got together in mid-April for a summit, by phone. We’re told they chopped it up, and agreed to end the drama … and the major motivator for peace was green.
They’ve both scheduled big events this summer — festival concerts, holiday parties, and award shows — and realized they were going to cross paths several times. We’re told they decided to clear the air since both would rather make money than war.
There were concerns the squabble might get even more violent when J. Prince stepped in to warn Diddy (and several others) to quit messing with his protege, Drake. But we’re told all parties are standing down now.
Money definitely is a master motivator.
You can probably expect a Drake and Diddy collab sooner than later, too.
Bruce Jenner to The Kardashian’s: ‘I’m not lying, I just didn’t tell you’ I was transitioning
Sunday’s episode of Keeping Up With The Kardashians aired part one of a very special episode called “About Bruce”. They of course focused on Bruce Jenner’s transition and how it affected his children with Kris Jenner. There was a lot of drama and tears during KUWTK, with almost everyone except Kim having a hard time with their dad’s transition and grieving the loss of the man who raised them. Khloe took Bruce’s transition the hardest, as we’ve heard before, and Kim was really accepting and somewhat analytical about it, I was impressed with her. Kris seemed in denial and in mourning and I came away feeling sorry for her.
For his part Bruce seemed on board with opening up to his family to some extent, but he left out key details . He came across as somewhat sneaky, and that seemed to be the result of having to hide this all his life. He only told Kim he was planning to fully transition after she questioned him about it. He told Kim, not his other daughters, that he was doing the Diane Sawyer interview and left it up to Kim to break the news to her sisters.
It was hard for Bruce to reconcile the fact that his family still needed some hand holding and clarity when it came to his transition. He thought that by telling them once they would get it, I think, and they had several stages to go through still. It was an interesting look into how a family might process someone’s gender transition, but with the Kardashians there’s always the issue of how genuine it was. The emotions did seem real, I’ll give them that. Here’s a recap and hopefully I hit the major points of the episode:
His children knew he cross dressed but kept his secret for him
Kendall admitted finding makeup of Bruce’s as a child and not wanting to tell anyone because she was afraid he was having an affair. Kim, Kourtney and Khloe had seen Bruce dressed as a woman but never told anyone, even their mother.
Khloe is mad Bruce waited so long to tell them
Khloe asked Bruce if he was “planning on not being Bruce anytime soon.” She was really upset, saying that he had children. He got defensive, and explained that he had already talked to his kids. Khloe told the camera later that she knew that Bruce was a cross dresser but that “we were never told that he would fully transition and become a woman.” Kendall came over to Bruce’s house with Khloe and they were both crying. Khloe told Bruce that she didn’t think it was fair that he didn’t tell them “how close this is in the near future.”
In cutaway segments all the kids and Kris gushed about what a great dad Bruce was and is.
Kendall explained that Bruce told all the kids “separately and alone” about four months prior to the special’s taping that he was transitioning.
Kim is analytical and accepting
Bruce later told Kim when she visited him that Khloe and Kendall “ganged up on me.” Bruce explained that “I’ve had secrets all my life, it’s tough not to have secrets.” He showed Kim his pedicure and explained that he did it himself. He also claimed to be very good at makeup. I have my doubts about that, but we’ll see.
Bruce tells Kim that he’s going to “fully become a woman”
Kim wanted to know if Bruce was going to “fully become a woman” and he said “yeah. I see myself in the future that way.” She told him that he had to tell the rest of the family. He admitted already having made the appointment, to have gender reassignment surgery presumably. At that point Kim didn’t even know about the Diane Sawyer interview and Bruce had to explain it to her. She took it very well.
Kris is having a hard time
Kris said that Bruce didn’t really tell her that he was transitioning. She wanted to support him but she didn’t “know how to handle this. This is my life, I committed to this life, and I think that he just checked out.” She knew he had tendencies but said “that wasn’t even a discussion… I have these memories of this life and sometimes I feel like it didn’t even exist.” Kim was trying to balance feeling sorry for her mom and being supportive of Bruce and she came across very well and measured. Kim later cried to Kendall and Kylie about everything her mom had been through.
Bruce explained to the camera that he is cool with Kris at this point and that “the love and support from Kris has been overwhelming.”
Khloe is mad at Bruce for not telling them he is planning a full transition
Later, they had a family meeting with all the girls. Khloe called Bruce to task for not telling her and Kendall when they were over his house that he was planning to fully transition. Kim was the peacemaker while Khloe yelled at Bruce for lying to her. He said “I’m not lying Khloe, I didn’t tell you.
“I didn’t lie… I just never told you anything. It’s not an easy subject to talk to you about.”
To the camera later, Bruce explained that he had isolated himself all his life and that he was used to keeping secrets.
Bruce admits to nose job and is planning multiple facial surgeries
Kourtney wanted to know if Bruce had a date for his gender transition and he said “you do it in stages.” He’d just had a nose job and was planning to have his forehead done and his jaw shaved. Khloe wrote on her phone “he’s been planning this for a year probably” and she passed the message around.
Bruce explained to his daughters that “doing [this] publicly is extraordinarily hard.” On camera later he said “maybe this is my greatest calling in life… be honest… and maybe in that honesty I can help other people.”
Bruce told the girls that he goes out dressed as she. They were really interested in whether he had wigs and what his casual style was like. He said that he liked jeans and a top and that he’d worn wigs in the past but that “the worst days of my life were days when I had to get my hair cut.”
“There is no right way to do this”
Bruce got choked up and cried which caused several of his daughters to cry. He said that “the greatest thing in my life I’ve ever done is raise my children… I’m just so proud of all of you… I got to deal with myself. The last thing in the world I would want to do is hurt any of you. Maybe if I’m not honest it’s because I’m afraid to talk to you about this subject because I know it hurts. I understand that. Am I doing it right Khloe? You can never do this right. There is no right way to do this.”

Overall I think KUWTK handled this extremely well. While Khloe seemed harsh at times, her reaction made sense in that Bruce kept hiding details of his transition. At times I found myself thinking that Bruce was being callous toward his family, but they also outlined his reasoning well. This is a guy who has hid a key part of himself his entire life. He’s so used to keeping secrets that it’s hard for him to know what honesty means. His family loves and wants to understand him, but they need time to work through it and they need all the information first. This was informative for me and I can’t help but think that it was groundbreaking. Yes it’s the Kardashians and they know how to get publicity and storylines. This was an important one.
Taye Diggs to Portray Transsexual Singer in Broadway Play Hedwig and the Angry Inch!
Taye Diggs is about to get a little freaky onstage — as the next transsexual singer Hedwig.
Producers of the Tony-Winning show said Monday that the How Stella Got Her Groove Back star will take over the title role in Broadway’s Hedwig and the Angry Inch starting July 22.
The show opened last season with Neil Patrick Harris starting off the Hedwigs — and winning a Tony Award — and was replaced by Andrew Rannells, Michael C. Hall, co-creator John Cameron Mitchell and currently Darren Criss.
Diggs, who has been onstage in Chicago and Rent, was on David E. Kelley’s Ally McBeal as attorney Jackson Duper and played Dr. Sam Bennett on Shonda Rhimes’ Private Practice. His most popular films include The Best Man Holiday and Brown Sugar.
B.B. King Viewing Friday in Vegas Before Mississippi Burial
Blues legend B.B. King will be buried in Mississippi, but a public viewing and a private service for family members will be held in Las Vegas before his body is sent home.
King died Thursday at home in Las Vegas at age 89.
His business agent, LaVerne Toney, says the viewing will be held from 3 to 7 p.m. Friday at Palm Mortuary West.
Mortuary manager Matthew Phillips says there won’t be a memorial service during viewing, but people will be able see King’s open casket.
Toney and Phillips say a private family funeral will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at a larger Palm Mortuary chapel in downtown Las Vegas.
Toney says she’s still making arrangements for a funeral and burial next week in Indianola, Mississippi.

Last week Mariah Carey shocked and angered fans after canceling a performance with very short notice just one week into her 3 month Las Vegas residency.

"Mariah simply didn't rehearse enough before starting this many concerts and now she's feeling it," a source tells Confidenti@l. "Leading up to the first show, everyone involved was wondering why this wasn't rehearsed to death."
Our source says that Carey's first few performances felt under par, and that she was told that her timing needed more work.
"She can sing, but she hardly walks during the show. They're always wheeling her out on some prop," says our source, who adds that perhaps the lack of rehearsal time contributed to the lack of dance routines in the show.
