The Daily Buzz For April 8 ☕📰☕

Thandie Newton for Marie Claire US - May 2019
Thandie Newton covers the May 2019 issue of Marie Claire magazine photographed by Thomas Whiteside. The May issue is dedicated to women in TV. Here are a few excerpts:

On being a survivor of abuse: “The sense of worthlessness, shame—these things are very hard to move on from. But you can.”
On being a role model for her children: “One of the things I relish in life is taking responsibility for the things I have inadvertently or otherwise done that have hurt anybody. Particularly with my children, I want them to see how important and possible it is to change.”
On Westworld and the cultural significance of her character Maeve: “It couldn’t have happened at a more relevant time, let’s face it. Particularly Maeve, because she educates herself in order to revolt and beat them at their own game…which was very satisfying.”

#RHOA: Porsha Williams Faces VS NeNe Leakes at RHOA Reunion: 'You Haven't Been Supportive'
NeNe Leakes and Porsha Williams faced off at the season 11 reunion taping. The argument  began when Williams accused Leakes of not being a supportive friend, and footage of their battle was released by Bravo on Thursday. Things start innocently enough, with Cohen asking Leakes, 51, if she’s been checking in with Williams, 37, to see how her pregnancy was going (Williams gave birth to daughter Pilar Jhena on March 22). Leakes immediately shuts Cohen down, telling him a frank, “No.”

WATCH
The Watch What Happens Live with Andy Cohen host then points out that Leakes missed Williams’ sex reveal party. “She ain’t been to s—. You ain’t been to nothing for me,” Williams says, telling Cohen that Leakes’ absence hurt her feelings. “I’m being real. I noticed a pattern after the baby shower. I go to NeNe’s events. However, last year, I had the vegan dinner? She didn’t come. Sex reveal? She didn’t come. She didn’t come to the baby shower. She likes to tell people that I am not a supportive friend? You have not been supportive of me either.”

Leakes, of course, does not just sit back and take it. She immediately goes on the attack, laughing off Williams’ claims and alleging that Williams isn’t in her corner.
“You haven’t been supportive,” Leakes says. “Ask the the rest of your cast whether they think you’ve been very supportive. I’m telling you that I don’t think you are supportive.
Nowhere was that more clear than in season 10, when Leakes told Williams that the door was “closed” on their friendship during a tense disagreement early on. By the end of the season, they were close again, with Leakes calling Williams — who joined the show in season 5 — her “little sister.”

As for where they stand now, it appears that family bond is broken for good.
In text message that Williams posted and later deleted, it appeared the two exchanged some nasty insults.

“Try dieting,” Leakes allegedly texted Williams just six days after she gave birth, referencing Williams’ “giant body” and skinny ankles and calling her a “big piggy with the busted shape” (among other things). “That’s something you have never been good at. … [You] lying ass big fat hungry bitch.”

Williams had words for Leakes of her own, slamming Leakes’ “granddaddy long legs and box body” and calling her “sick” in the alleged messages.
“This is what I sent you after you gave birth!,” Leakes wrote in a now-deleted Instagram. “I sent you text messages last night after I saw on social media what you had said. I could have responded back on social media, but I decided to text rather than do that.”

“I know you need viewers to tune into your 3 episode commercial, which is why you doing the most!” Leakes said, referencing Williams’ 3-episode spinoff series around the final days of her pregnancy and the birth of her first child. “Bye ankles. #HBIC.”

The Real Housewives of Atlanta reunion kicks off Sunday (9 p.m. ET) on Bravo.

#HipHopNews: Radio station bans Kodak Black's music over his comments about Nipsey Hussle's girlfriend
Rapper Kodak Black is facing backlash — and some fallout — from comments he made over the weekend about Lauren London, the longtime girlfriend of slain rapper Nipsey Hussle.
During a live broadcast on Instagram on Saturday, Kodak announced his intentions to romantically pursue London, with whom Hussle had a young son.

"I’ll be the best man I can be for her," Kodak said. "I’ll give her a whole year. She might need a whole year to be crying and s--- for him."
He continued: "I ain’t trying to shoot [my shot] at her. I’m saying, listen. She can do two, three years. I’ll try to be like the friend if you need to holla or a shoulder to lean on. She can call my line."

The comments were met with swift backlash, including from rapper T.I. and Justin Credible, a disc jockey at Power 106 in Los Angeles, California, who pledged to no longer play Kodak's music.
"We stand with the family of Nipsey Hussle and are appalled by the disrespectful and poor comments made by Kodak Black," Justin Credible said Saturday. "With that, Power 106 will not support Kodak Black’s music."

Later Saturday, Kodak issued a half-hearted apology in a live broadcast on Instagram.

"If I disrespected you, Lauren London, in any shape or form, I'm sorry, even though I didn't," he said.
Hussle was fatally shot outside his clothing store in Los Angeles' Hyde Park neighborhood last Sunday afternoon. He was 33.
London, an actress and model, paid tribute to Hussle on Tuesday in an Instagram post that featured images of the rapper and their family.
"I am completely lost," she wrote. "I’ve lost my best friend, my sanctuary my protector my soul ... I’m lost without you. We are lost without you babe. I have no words."

London has not responded to Kodak's comments.

Secretary of Homeland Security Kirstjen Nielsen is OUT! She resigns!
Department of Homeland Security Secretary Kirstjen Nielsen has resigned, President Trump tweeted Sunday.
"Secretary of Homeland Security Kirstjen Nielsen will be leaving her position, and I would like to thank her for her service. I am pleased to announce that Kevin McAleenan, the current U.S. Customs and Border Protection Commissioner, will become Acting Secretary for @DHSgov. I have confidence that Kevin will do a great job!"
Behind the scenes: A source close to DHS told Axios that Nielsen would be having a showdown with the president tonight.

"Frustrations were building on both sides," the source said. "She was undercut at every turn. She's done everything she can do. The White House is eating their own."
CBS' Paula Reid reported earlier Sunday that Nielsen is "expected to resign" in her meeting with Trump tonight, but Trump's ambiguous wording reflects the predictably messy end to this relationship, which was formalized in a meeting in the White House residence.

It may well be that Nielsen was the one who formally resigned — but the formalities don't really matter. Trump has wanted Nielsen gone for months because he believes she's "weak" on immigration, per multiple sources with direct knowledge of the president's thinking.
The big picture: It's been a tortured relationship from the beginning, with Trump blaming Nielsen for every problem at the southern border and for the recent spike in families coming from Northern Triangle countries. Trump has long felt that Nielsen isn't "tough enough" when it comes to defending the border and kicking illegal immigrants out of the U.S., according to sources who've discussed the subject with the president.

During her tenure, Nielsen was put in the position of having to defend the Trump administration's zero tolerance policy that resulted in thousands of migrant children being separated from their families, for which she was often maligned in the media and by Democratic lawmakers.
In January, Sen. Jeff Merkley (D-Ore.) formally requested that the FBI investigate whether Nielsen lied under oath when she told Congress in December 2018, "We've never had a policy for family separation."

A Crazed charged for attacking WWE legend Bret ‘Hitman’ Hart during Hall of Fame Speech!
An unhinged fan has been slammed with assault and trespass charges for allegedly attacking wrestling legend Bret “Hitman” Hart during his WWE Hall of Fame speech at Brooklyn’s Barclays Center.
Zachary Madsen, 26, was charged with two counts of assault, one count of criminal trespass and one count of violation of local law, for lunging at 61-year-old Hart around 10:15 p.m. Saturday, police said.

The Hitman told police he was in the middle of his speech when Madsen — whom Hart does not know — jumped over a metal barrier, climbed into the ring and tackled him to the ground.

A video posted below from CBS2 New York shows a large group of security personnel grabbing Madsen and leading him off the ring and out of the camera’s view, as several others tend to Hart.

Hart told cops he suffered pain to his right hip, but he was able to finish his speech.
Markazi later posted photographs that show the moments Madsen — who appears to be wearing a Rasta-themed hat — lunges as the WWE star.

Police said Madsen is from out of state, though his home address was not immediately available. Public records indicate a man with the same name and age lives in Lincoln, Neb.

Madsen, who has no prior arrests with the NYPD, will be arraigned in Brooklyn court on Sunday.

#NCAAWOMEN #FINALFOUR: Baylor Beats Notre Dame To Win NCAA Women's Basketball Championship

Baylor gave up a double-digit lead but hung on in the final minutes to win the NCAA women's title game against defending champs Notre Dame by a single point Sunday night in Tampa, Fla.

With the 82-81 victory, the Lady Bears clinched their third NCAA women's basketball championship — joining UConn and Tennessee as the only Division I programs with three or more titles. The last time Baylor clinched the title was in 2012 against the Fighting Irish.

Baylor kept a comfortable lead for the first half, before Notre Dame closed the gap to tie the game in the last five minutes of the fourth quarter.

With 3.9 seconds left, point guard Chloe Jackson drove past Notre Dame's defense to put Baylor ahead at 82-80. Then Notre Dame called a timeout and inbounded to tournament standout Arike Ogunbowale. The Irish had a chance to turn the game around when Ogunbowale was fouled going for a layup. But, lucky for the Lady Bears, Ogunbowale missed her first free throw in the remaining 1.9 seconds, leaving Baylor to hold on to the 1-point lead.
Baylor managed the final stretch without star forward Lauren Cox, who injured her knee in the third quarter. Cox, who hobbled to the sidelines on crutches to celebrate with her teammates after the final buzzer, told ESPN that she's unsure about the severity of her injury.

Cox, who contributed 8 points and 8 rebounds to Baylor's 62-50 lead before getting rolled off the court in a wheelchair, has remained a crucial player throughout Baylor's 37-1 season. Her early exit in the final raised the stakes for her teammates.
"We had to do it for LC," Chloe Jackson, referring to Cox, told reporters after the game. "She got us here. We had to finish the job for her."

The win brought Baylor coach Kim Mulkey to tears. "I'm emotional for a lot of reasons, but mostly for Lauren Cox, and I'm so happy," Mulkey said. "These are tears of joy, but they're also tears of thinking about injuries."
The NCAA reports its highest attendance in 15 years at the Women's Final Four and regional playoffs. That record fanfare was evidenced by the more than 20,000 fans that filled Tampa's Amalie Arena for the final game, as reporter Bradley George of member station WUSF reports.

#BoxOfficeNews: 'Shazam!' Shocks and wins The Box Office with $53M Debut!
(BOM) The weekend played out mostly as expected with the release of Shazam! from Warner Bros. and New Line securing the top spot in both the domestic and worldwide marketplace while Paramount's release of Pet Sematary scored the second largest opening for a Stephen King adaptation. STX's The Best of Enemies, however, fell a bit below expectations as April is off to a solid start, but it won't be until the release of Avengers: Endgame at the end of the month that we'll be able to see whether this April will be able to challenge last year's record monthly grosses.

At the top of the box office, Warner Bros.'s release of New Line's Shazam! delivered just above expectations with an estimated $53.4 million for a cumulative total that stands at $56.7 million once you add in grosses from the late March, Fandango special event. The film was well received by critics and opening weekend audiences alike, the latter of which giving the film an "A" CinemaScore with males making up 57% of the crowd and 55% of the opening weekend audience coming in aged 25 years or older.

Looking ahead, Shazam!'s debut isn't too far behind Marvel's Ant-Man ($57.2m opening). Ant-Man went on to deliver a 3.1x multiplier in 2015, which is just ahead of the average multiplier for a film in the DC Extended Universe. This would suggest Shazam! could be looking at a $160+ million domestic run should word of mouth give it an assist over the coming weeks ahead of the April 26 opening of Avengers: Endgame.

Internationally, Shazam! generated an estimated $102 million from 79 international markets as the film opened day-and-date in virtually all overseas territories outside of Japan, where it will open on April 19. Leading the way was a $30.9 million opening in China followed by Mexico ($6.2m), UK ($5.3m), Russia ($5.2m), Brazil ($5.1m), Indonesia ($4.1m), Korea ($3.9m), Australia ($3.4m), France ($2.8m), Taiwan ($2.7m), Thailand ($2.2m), Malaysia ($2m), Italy ($2m), Spain ($1.7m) and Germany ($1.4m). The film's overall worldwide debut comes in a $158.8 million.

In the runner-up position, Paramount's release of Pet Sematary delivered an estimated $25 million, which is in line with studio expectations for the $21 million production. The performance ranks as the second largest opening for a Stephen King adaptation, behind only 2017's monster hit It. The film received a "C+" CinemaScore with 52% of the opening weekend crowd coming in female while 58% of the audience was aged 25 years or older.

Looking ahead, the film's performance is similar to the $25.7 million debut for Evil Dead remake, which opened over the same weekend in 2013 and went on to gross just over $54 million. Similarly, 2007's Halloween remake debuted with $26.3 million and went on to gross $54.2 million while the 2005 remake of The Amityville Horror opened with $23.5 million and went on to gross over $65 million.

Internationally, Pet Sematary opened in the first 46 international markets, representing 73% of the marketplace, and grossed $17.3 million. The performance was led by a $3.1 million opening in Russia followed by the UK ($2m), Mexico ($2m) and Germany ($1.5m). The film will open in France and Korea next weekend followed by a May 9 release in Brazil.

Taking the bronze medal, Disney's Dumbo took a hard fall, dropping -60% in its second weekend for an estimated $18.2 million, bringing the film's domestic me to over $76 million. The reported $170 million production is struggling to match expectations for a Disney title of this sort, suffering a sophomore weekend drop similar to 2016's Alice Through the Looking Glass, which only managed a 2.86x multiplier. Internationally, the pic brought in an estimated $39.6 million from 55 markets for an overseas cume that now totals $137.5 million and a global tally that is now just shy of $214 million.

Universal's Us took a -58% dip in its second weekend as it would appear Pet Sematary did take a chunk out of its box office this weekend as the film has now delivered over $152 million as it enters its third week in release and now ranks among the top five R-rated horror films ever. The film also added another $10.3 million internationally this weekend as its global cume now totals over $216 million.

Rounding out the top five is Disney's Captain Marvel with an estimated $12.68 million as the superhero film has now topped $374 million at the domestic box office. The film also added another $14.1 million internationally for a global cume that now stands at $1.037 billion, which moves it into the top 30 all-time.

Outside the top five, STXFilms's The Best of Enemies came in below expectations with an estimated $4.5 million on 1,705 screens. The film received an "A" CinemaScore from opening day crowds while playing to a weekend audience that was 63% female and 79% was 25 and older.

#FINALFOUR: Texas Tech and Virginia Are headed to The NCAA Title Game!
MINNEAPOLIS — Virginia’s redemption tour isn’t finished yet. And for Texas Tech, their greatness may just be beginning.
A year after becoming the first No. 1 seed in men’s college basketball history to lose to a No. 16 seed in the NCAA tournament, Virginia has reached the title game, defeating No. 5 seed Auburn at US Bank Stadium in Minneapolis.

“To think this time last year we were starting our spring workouts, and to still be playing at this point in the season with, after tonight, one other team in the whole country on the stage that you dreamed about since you were a little kid, it’s an unreal feeling,” Virginia guard Ty Jerome said. “We’re going to do everything we can to finish the job.”
The Cavaliers will face No. 3 seed Texas Tech, a bit of a surprise finalist. The Red Raiders, in their first Final Four, beat No. 2 seed Michigan State 61-51 in a tough battle in the second semifinal.

“Why not us?” Texas Tech head coach Chris Beard said. “We’ve got good players. We’ve got a great university. We play in arguably the best league in the country. We won the Big 12 regular season title. We’re a good team. We’ve got good players. I think we deserve to be here.”

The men’s championship is Monday at 9 p.m. ET. It will be the first meeting between the two programs, and neither team has won a national title. Auburn had a 62-60 lead with 1.5 seconds left. But Virginia’s Kyle Guy was fouled by Auburn’s Samir Doughty while launching a buzzer-beater attempt with 0.6 seconds remaining. He hit all three free throws, giving the Cavaliers the 63-62 victory.
“These are moments that every basketball player has dreamed of, hitting the game-winning shot or free throws or whatever,” Guy said. “Kind of had that feeling in your stomach, like a good nervousness, like, all right, this is my chance. To be able to go to the national championship off of that for these guys and (head coach Tony) Bennett, I mean, I really don’t have the words.”

J.D. Collins, the NCAA’s national coordinator of officiating, gave a statement regarding the foul.
“The call was made by official James Breeding, who ruled that Doughty moved into the airborne shooter, making contact with Guy while taking away his landing spot,” Collins said. “The foul was a violation of Rule 4, Section 39.i, which states, ‘Verticality applies to a legal position and also to both the offensive and defensive players. The basic components of the principle of verticality are: The defender may not “belly up” or use the lower part of the body or arms to cause contact outside his vertical plane or inside the opponent’s vertical plane.'”

In addition to the foul, there was a no-call that has fans talking. It appeared officials missed a double dribble by Jerome, which happened a few seconds before Guy was fouled. If that turnover had been called, Auburn, instead of Virginia, would have had the ball late.

“I do feel for Auburn, but I feel better for us right now, and I’m just thankful these guys stepped up and played the way we needed to and got through,” Bennett said. “Survive and advance, I guess that’s taking on a new meaning.”
Jerome led all scorers with 21 points. Guy had 15, while De’Andre Hunter had 14 for Virginia.

Doughty had 13 points for Auburn, while Bryce Brown and Jared Harper had 12 and 11 points, respectively.
A football school playing for a basketball title Texas Tech has just one team sport with a national championship in school history. That came from the women’s basketball team in 1993 led by the legendary Sheryl Swoopes.

The men’s basketball team now has the chance to make it two
A school these days better known for football — NFL MVP and former Texas Tech quarterback Patrick Mahomes was in attendance on Saturday — Texas Tech and its Red Raiders have made a swift ascension.
Thanks to a stingy defense, Texas Tech (31-6) knocked off No. 2 seed Michigan and No. 1 seed Gonzaga to reach the Final Four, and now Michigan State (32-7).

Led by Beard for the past three seasons, Texas Tech is now in the championship game a year after reaching the Elite Eight. The Associated Press coach of the year has only been coaching in Division I — the highest level in the NCAA — for four years.

He previously coached in Division II for Angelo State and McMurry University (both in Texas) and for the American Basketball Association’s (ABA) South Carolina Warriors. His first two head coaching opportunities came at the junior college level with Fort Scott Community College in Kansas and Seminole State College in Oklahoma.
“I wouldn’t trade my experiences for anything,” Beard said earlier this week when accepting the AP coach of the year award. “I’m very proud of my background, in small college and junior college and Division II. I feel like I represent a lot of people, maybe people I don’t even know.”

The rosters’ leaders include seniors Norense Odiase, Tariq Owens and Matt Mooney as well as sophomore Jarrett Culver. On Saturday, Mooney — who had stops at Air Force and South Dakota before arriving at Texas Tech for this season — was the game’s top scorer with 22 points on 8-of-16 shooting.

“It’s been a heck of a journey,” Mooney said. “A lot of people have helped me get to this point, have helped me along the way. You know, this is — I’m living the dream right now.”
Cassius Winston had 16 points for Michigan State.
“Very seldom in my career have we kind of got out beat up, and tonight was one of those nights,” Michigan State head coach Tom Izzo, who falls to 2-6 in national semifinal games, said.

This year’s NCAA men’s Final Four has a bit of a different feel to it. Missing this year are the well-known established blue bloods: This is the first Final Four since 1987 that doesn’t have Duke, North Carolina, Kansas, Kentucky, Louisville or UCLA.

Wendy Williams Wants you to know that She’s ‘Living Proof’ That ‘There Is Hope’ for Addicts and Substance Abusers
Wendy Williams wants you to know that “there is hope” for those who battle addiction and that she is “living proof.”

In the PSA taped on the set of her talk show, Wendy puts on a brave face as she speaks directly to the camera introducing herself as Wendy Williams Hunter.
“Hi, I’m Wendy Williams Hunter,” she says. “My organization, The Hunter Foundation, recently launched a nationwide hotline to offer treatment resources for you if you are a drug addict or substance abuser. 1-888-5HUNTER.”

Williams, who has been battling substance abuse for a number of years,  made the national public service announcement for her non-for-profit “The Hunter Foundation” and an organization called T.R.U.S.T (which stands for Treatment Resources Utilizing Sustainable Techniques). The organization’s website says that it’s dedicated to bridging the gap between treatment and long term sobriety.

The PSA aims to encourage those who struggle with drug addiction or those who have loved ones who are struggling to find resources to help get treatment.
“If you’re an addict or a substance abuser, don’t be ashamed — help is here for you or a family member or a loved one. Call. Don’t be ashamed; there is hope. I’m living proof,” she says as she directs viewers to the foundation’s website.

According to People.com, the hotline, which was launched on March 11th, has already received 10,000 inbound calls.
Wendy has been publically dealing with some serious personal struggles lately as she announced on her talk show that she is currently living in a sober house and rumors are swirling that she and her husband/manager Kevin Hunter are on the brink of a divorce.

She was reportedly hospitalized last week after an alcohol relapse and is in the process of taking more time off from her hit talk show to focus on self-care.

Nelly Sexual Assault Charges in U.K. are DROPPED He says “I Stand With Women and Real Survivors
U.K. police dropped their investigation into Nelly and, in turn, the rapper opened up about his experience.

Nelly dodged a rape accusation in September, but another incident abroad followed soon after. An anonymous woman claimed she fell victim to him after a show in December 2017. She allegedly went backstage to his dressing room for a meet-and-greet at Cliffs Pavilion in Southend, according to BBC. Fortunately for him, foreIgn investigators ended their search into the claims simply because the woman refused to testify.

When the news was released, he stated to FOX News, “I am very thankful to the U.K. police for thoroughly investigating the false allegations against me, and I am satisfied with the results of this case and the previous one in the US, both driven by the same attorney, both being dropped.”

He went on to express his support for women and excitement to get back into making music for his loyal fans.

”I stand with women and real survivors and can’t wait to just focus on what I love, family, music and reconnecting with the fans that have stood by me through these turbulent times.”

Rhino Poacher Killed By Elephant And Eaten By Lions In South African National Park
South African National Parks released a statement explaining only a skull and a pair of pants remained after a suspected rhino poacher was killed by an elephant and then eaten by lions in Kruger National Park.

A man, along with four others, entered the park with intentions of targeting black rhinos. An elephant “suddenly” attacked the alleged poacher, killing him. Then according to police, “his accomplices claimed to have carried his body to the road so that passersby could find it in the morning. They then vanished from the Park”.

The fellow poachers notified the man’s family of his death, and a search party set out to recover the body soon after. Foot Rangers and helicopters failed in locating the body that day due to lighting but discovered the following day what was left of the poacher’s remains. “Indications found at the scene suggested that a pride of lions had devoured the remains leaving only a human skull and a pair of pants,” the statement said.

Managing executive of Kruger National Park, Glenn Phillips, sent his condolences to the man’s family but also warned, “Entering Kruger National Park illegally and on foot is not wise, it holds many dangers, and this incident is evidence of that. It is very sad to see the daughters of the deceased mourning the loss of their father, and worse still, only being able to recover very little of his remains.”

Three of the other poachers were arrested by the South African Police Service while officers continued to investigate exactly what happened. The suspects appeared in Komatipoort Magistrate Court to face charges of possessing firearms and ammunition without a license, conspiracy to poach and trespassing.

The African black rhino is considered critically endangered, especially since its population plummeted from about 65,000 in 1970 to 2,400 in 1995, according to Kruger National Park. Conservation efforts have increased their existence, and there are now about 5,000 black rhinos in the world, living predominantly in South Africa, Namibia, Kenya, and Zimbabwe

Zendaya Covers Fashion Magazine Winter 2017 Edition
We are the stories we tell. And so, right now, in this skylit studio, sitting across from Zendaya—who has returned to her natural state, wearing simple black leggings and Nikes instead of a Versus Versace dress and Casadei boots—my job is to hear some stories. It’s not as easy as you might think.

While the intensity of the attention around her has increased since she became an unofficial fashion muse and a CoverGirl ambassador and started owning red carpets (from the Oscars to the Met Gala), Zendaya, 21, has been in the spotlight since she was a tween. She’s charmingly loquacious, but she doesn’t offer up much in the way of stories. There’s one, however, that she shares that encompasses and exemplifies who she is.
It turns out that Zendaya was in a Kidz Bop video when she was younger. In case you don’t remember Kidz Bop (similar to Minipops, a show that was popular when I was a kid), the premise was simple: Get anonymous kids to sing Top 40 hits and then make child-friendly music videos for each track. Yes, the video is on YouTube. And yes, it’s as awkward as you would imagine preteens dancing in front of a green screen would be. But Zendaya shows undeniable charm.
“It wasn’t actually me singing as a kid. But I did the video for it, and I remember I was feeling a little weird that day,” she says. “It was one of my first jobs, and all the kids could do these crazy things. They could do flips or spins or something cool, right? And I just couldn’t. I was a normal dancer. I had charisma, but I could only dance. I remember all these kids were trying to be sick, and I was like ‘I gotta step it up a notch because these kids are really killing it.’ For some reason, I decided to do a front flip. Never did one before in my life, other than inside my living room playing around. Thank God I landed it! It could have been terrible, but it ended up working.”

You could hardly ask for a better bit of foreshadowing. The combination of confidence, surprising talent and luck is still at the root of Zendaya’s success. You’ll find that combination in varying degrees in most people who make it. Whether Zendaya is a name in your household depends equally on how many tweens and fashion junkies live there.
As a kind of dynamic duo, Zendaya and her stylist, Law Roach (who recently performed a style miracle with Céline Dion), have parlayed her acting and singing roles in Disney Channel shows into impressive fashion moments that have brought her attention for not only how she looks but also how she intelligently defends and discusses how she looks. The most famous, for instance, was after the 2015 Academy Awards, when she clapped back against Fashion Police’s Giuliana Rancic, who had made some tone-deaf quips about Zendaya’s dreads.
She has strategically moved into films, starting with 2016’s Spider-Man: Homecoming. She stole every scene she was in despite looking like she had never seen a CoverGirl ad, let alone starred in one. And now she’s demonstrating the range of her abilities—even working the trapeze—next to fellow triple threats Hugh Jackman and Zac Efron in The Greatest Showman. What kind of woman is Zendaya? She’s the kind who imagines what she needs to do and then does it, confident that she’ll pull it off regardless of what it is. Get more from FASHION MAG HERE

#RHoA: The Turvy Topsy relationship between Porsha and NeNe!
The tension between Porsha Williams and NeNe Leakes shown on The Real Housewives of Atlanta premiere was just the beginning!

Williams tried to approach Leakes about the comment she made on Watch What Happens Live in May that implied she wanted the model wanted fired. However, the Glee star wanted nothing to do with it — and it seems that’s going to be the theme of the season, according to Williams.
“The relationship with Nene in the beginning of the season was very difficult. I saw our friendship as being one of big sister and little sister and she was pretty much denying that. Once I realized that she saw the relationship different, I kind of let it go,” Williams, 36, tells Us Weekly in an exclusive interview, adding that she originally had planned on speaking to 49-year-old Leakes about comments made in the press. However, once Leakes made it clear that their relationship wasn’t what she’d originally thought, Williams dropped it.

“I mean you can’t force anything with someone if they don’t seem like they care about the friendship,” she continues. “But as time goes on and the more time, you’ll kind of have to see how that all kind of ends up. And that’s the same thing with a lot of people’s relationships on the show — they’re friends and then they fall out and then they’re friends again. It happens a lot this season.”
Williams then added that “there’s a lot of down” in her up-and-down relationship with the actress, but “it might go up” eventually.

During an appearance on Watch What Happens Live on Sunday, November 5, Leakes took a low blow after watching  Williams throw shade at her in a behind-the-scenes video from the premiere. When the model implied that Leakes had work done, The New Normal star responded with, “She does too. She’s gained a lot of weight.”

The Real Housewives of Atlanta airs on Bravo Sundays at 8 p.m. ET.

#Empire: To Take Production Hiatus For Script Work On Second Half Of Season 4
Fox’s flagship drama series Empire will be pausing production. The hiatus will start after the show completes filming of Episode 409 today. The stoppage is expected to last 2-3 weeks, after which work will resume on Episode 410.
The break will be used for the writers to regroup for the season’s back nine. Empire co-creators and executive producers Danny Strong and Lee Daniels, as well as executive producers Brian Grazer and Francie Calfo of Imagine, will be working with the writing team, led by executive producer/showrunner Ilene Chaiken, as they chart

This is a regular occurrence for the densely serialized Empire, which has taken similar production breaks for script work in prior seasons. It would not impact the series’ broadcast schedule as it goes on hiatus from mid-December, when it airs its fall finale, until returning to the schedule in March.

Empire exploded onto the primetime scene when it debuted in January 2015 and quickly became the biggest drama series on television. Its ratings have been trending down double-digits year-over-year and hitting lows this fall, but it remains Fox’s No. 1 series, averaging a 3.1 adults 18-49 in Live+7 and 10.5 million multi-platform viewers.

From TMZ: Mariah Carey’s former security company has threatened to sue her … and the guy who owns the company says she constantly humiliated him by referring to him as a Nazi, a skinhead, a KKK member and a white supremacist.

Michael Anello’s lawyer has prepared a draft of a lawsuit, claiming his company worked for Mariah from June 2015 to May 2017 and got stiffed on the balance to the tune of $221,329.51. Anello claims he was promised another 2 years which would add $511,000 to the tab.

The draft lawsuit also makes allegations of sexual harassment, claiming she committed “sexual acts with the intent that they be viewed by Anello.” Anello claims during a trip to Cabo San Lucas, Mariah asked him to come to her room to move some luggage and when he got there, she was wearing a see-through negligee that was open. He says he tried leaving but she insisted he move the luggage. He says he left the room and there was no physical contact.

Early Wednesday morning, the singer and reality star vented about the flaws in her marriage admitting that at times she and her estranged husband Vincent Herbert were married ‘for face value’. See her post, in her own words, below.

"Thank God this is HIS purpose..yes I just dropped #bluebirdofhappiness &Tamar &Vince is coming back on Thursday but on GOD this has NOTHING to do with ME or a JOB!!.here is the thing,& MY truth..you don’t have to like me & while I’m woke,I can see that most of you don’t now..even when you did.?something has changed w/her..but it’s ok, because I don’t..well,didn’t like me either.I told myself I would do whatever it took to keep my family together,to see a smile on someone who has seen us smile on their face hoping we could offer them hope, faith,Love& dignity that I once possessed. But the truth is all of those things are NOT within the marriage of Tamar & Vince????? ..at least not anymore.married people who are reading will know what I mean.Sometimes we stay”married”for face value or to say”we did it”??but the truth is..it couldn’t be more broken &further apart than we are NOW!..even on an anniversary!

"

"Is it ok that he checks up on u when his phone(s) R stuck to him like glue?Is it ok that his friends are HIS friends but my friends are “our” friends? Or, we fight but that’s “passion”? let’s get deep for a second..we can argue & u can tell me to gtf out of “your”house when I’m the house of cards?None of this is ok..& while I’m not pushing anyone out of the door..I’m just telling you what has pushed me out of mine! That LAST time was the LAST time??"

Last month, Tamar filed for divorce from Herbert, citing “irreconcilable differences” and is seeking joint custody of their son.

LiAngelo Ball and 2 other UCLA basketball players arrested in China on shoplifting charges!
Three UCLA men's basketball players are under arrest in China, just days before the season's opening game.
The 3 players, including LiAngelo Ball, the younger brother of Lakers rookie Lonzo Ball, were reportedly arrested on shoplifting charges, a source told ESPN.
Sources say the players are being questioned about stealing from a Louis Vuitton Store next to the team's hotel.

The Bruins men's basketball team is in China for friday's season-opener against Georgia Tech in Shanghai.
While the players have been released from jail, they are being required to stay in their hotel in Hangzhou until the legal process is over, which ESPN reports could be days, weeks, or even months.

Police arrived early Tuesday morning at the Hyatt Regency in Hangzhou, where both UCLA and Georgia Tech were staying ahead of their Friday matchup, and questioned three players from each team. Team representatives and interpreters were with the players during that time, according to a source.

Chris Rock Under Fire Over Female Rape Comment During A Show: “They Cry Rape Because They Want Money”
Comedian #ChrisRock is under fire over a joke he made at the Comedy Cellar on Thursday. A patron of the MacDougal Street club told #PageSix that Rock was explaining that he doesn’t hire women, because they “cry rape” and that he needs witnesses with him at all times in case he was ever accused.
“They cry rape because they want money,” said the comedian, who went on to add that he wouldn’t hire a cleaning lady because he’s terrified of being falsely accused.

Many attendees, especially female attendees, didn’t like the joke at all and began to call him a “sexist pig” according to a witness.
“I’ve seen him before and he was hysterical, but this wasn’t funny at all,” a woman told Page Six. “Nobody was laughing. There were many boos and many women who were telling him he was a sexist pig. Two people got kicked out.”

Rock’s set reportedly ended in silence from the crowd. At what point do you guys think comedy is taken too far?

Jill Scott Obtains Restraining Order Against Estranged Hubby Mike Dobson
After filing for divorce to end her one-year marriage to Mike Dobson, Jill Scott also obtained a restraining order against him.
Via Bossip: Under the order, neither spouse can threaten, harass or stalk the other, nor can one trash talk the other in front of their kids.
The couple cannot destroy or hide files on their hard drives or computers or hide assets from the marriage.
They also can’t spend money excessively without the court’s permission and have to provide receipts for their purchases that the other party can request to see, the restraining order says.
Scott filed for divorce Sept. 15, citing “irreconcilable differences” and “inappropriate marital conduct that such further cohabitation would be unsafe and improper.”
Scott’s estranged husband Dobson told BOSSIP that he was “blindsided” by the divorce and has not yet been served with any paperwork and was unaware of any restraining order.

Mike vehemently denies any cheating, emotional or physical abuse of our beloved Jill.
