Gladys Knight to Sing the National Anthem at Super Bowl LIII!👌👍

R&B legend Gladys Knight will sing the national anthem at this year’s Superbowl LIII scheduled for Feb. 3 at Mercedes-Benz stadium in Atlanta.

“I am proud to use my voice to unite and represent our country in my hometown of Atlanta,” Knight said in a statement. “The NFL recently announced their new social justice platform Inspire Change, and I am honored to be a part of its inaugural year.”

Knight got started in music with her group, Gladys Knight and the Pips, which signed with Motown in 1966. They were inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 1996 and the Apollo Legends Hall of Fame in 2006.

Her Superbowl performance will be televised live on CBS-TV prior to kickoff, according to NFL.com.

She joins a long list of A-list performers who have sung the national anthem at the Super Bowl, including fellow Motown legends Aretha Franklin and Diana Ross.

The ICON Janet Jackson has been in a renaissance these days after re-launching her State of The World Tour and appearing at several festivals including Essence and Panorama. Well she’s had made it official her new single ‘Made For Now’ will be released via all platforms (iTunes and Spotify) and www.JanetJackson.com on Friday.

As The JTribe, Jan Fam, Janatics may recall she was filming a video for this single with Daddy Yankee.

So sit back and buckle up she’s back and ready to ROCK. No further details have been given on when the new project in full will arrive. However as things moves forward we will get all of that!

The singing legend is reportedly surrounded by friends and family in her native Detroit

Soul legend Aretha Franklin is said to be gravely ill and is surronded by friends and family in her native Detroit, according to veteran entertainment reporter Roger Friedman of Showbiz 411.

Franklin 76 has been battling numerous health problems for years and had to cancel a series of concerts last summer citing “doctor’s orders.” Her latest performance was on November 2 of last year for the Elton John AIDS Foundation in New York.

The 76-year-old was reportedly diagnosed with pancreatic cancer in 2011, but she denied reports that she carried the disease. Last February, Aretha announced that 2017 would be her last year “in concert.”

Considered one of the greatest singers in music history, Franklin is the recipient of 18 Grammy Awards and was the first female performer to be inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 1987. She is also one of most commercially successful artists of all time, having sold over 75 million records worldwide.

Janet Jackson graced the Billboard Music Awards stage to receive the prestigious Icon Award on Sunday in Las Vegas. Not only was the moment her first television performance in nine years, but it was also the first time she has performed as a mom.

Bruno Mars surprised fans taking the stage to introduce Jackson. He rattled off her accolades and following a moving montage of her life and career—from the Jackson family’s humble beginnings in Gary, Indiana to her global chart-topping success—he ended his intro naming her “the first black woman to ever receive the Billboard Icon Award.”

Jackson hit the stage in a sparkling gold sweatshirt dress and shiny gold thigh-high shoes as she sang her 1986 hit “Nasty”, as her mother Katherine and other family members beamed from the audience. Jackson launched into her 1993 song “Throb”, everyone from Tyra Banks to Ciara couldn’t help but sing and dance along.

As for dancers, there were many! Those rocking the stage included Phillip Galbert, 28, of New Britain, Connecticut, and La’Vala “Lala” Moss, 26, of Birmingham, Alabama, who recently received the news that they’d been chosen out of 75,000 hopefuls as winners of Jackson’s global #DanceWithJanet competition. Not only did they get to join her JTribe, but they would be taking the stage to perform with her at the award show.

After the electrifying production, that left the audience chanting “Janet! Janet!” Jackson shared heartfelt words in her acceptance speech.

  “I’m deeply humbled and grateful for this award. I believe that for all the challenges, all of our challenges, we live a great moment in history. It’s a moment that at long last women have made it clear that we will not be controlled, manipulated or abused.” Jackson,told the audience, “I stand with those women and those men.”

She continued with a message on faith. “My prayer is that weary of such noise, we will turn back to the source of all calmness, that source is God. Everything we lack, God has in abundance: compassion, sensitivity, patience and boundless love. Again I want to thank all of you for this honor and I thank God for giving me the precious energy that lets me live my life as an artist who every day seeks to expend my capacity to love.”

Jackson, who has garnered a total of 18 BBMA nominations and 10 wins, joins a group of iconic winners including Neil Diamond (2011), Stevie Wonder (2012), Prince (2013), Jennifer Lopez (2014), Céline Dion (2016) and Cher (2017).

The HAUS That Janet Jackson Built! She talks to Billboard Magazine, Thinks New Artists Are More Courageous Than Ever!

In an interview with Billboard, Janet Jackson talks about her legacy, new music, and who she's listening to today.

Few solo artists have been as influential over the last three decades as Janet Jackson. Even after her 2004 Super Bowl performance was marred by the weirdly regressive reaction to the onstage mishap spoken of in both hushed terms as a "wardrobe malfunction," she's maintained a legacy as one pop and R&B's inveterate experimenters and unfaltering activists. As she continues the career revival that began a few years ago – headlining festivals like Essence Fest and Panorama this summer – she's also starting to see some of the canonising that often accompanies such a storied career.

This year, she's being honoured with Billboard's Icon Award, and in an interview with the magazine recounts some of her favourite musical moments along with her perspective on today's musical climate.

In the interview, Janet shares an early memory of being featured on Michael's Thriller album at 16.

Michael was recording 'Thriller.' He invited me to the studio where he was about to sing “P.Y.T.” and asked me to help out on background vocals. Since we had been singing together forever, I knew it’d be easy. I jumped at the chance. I loved being one of the P.Y.T.s and was especially proud – I hope this doesn’t sound like bragging – that when the record was mixed, my single background voice was the one featured. I can’t tell you how good that made me feel.

Janet has hope for the way today's music reflects the political climate, just like Rhythm Nation 1814 did in 1989.

I’m anxious. I’m angry. I’m certainly concerned, but when I hear new artists finding their voices, just as I found mine, I’m optimistic. Young artists are exhibiting more courage than ever. Music is more alive than ever. And more relevant. We women artists – and women in general – are saying we will not be controlled, manipulated or abused. We’re determined not to fall back to those days of emotional and even physical enslavement. It’s a blessing to be alive today and join in the fight for equality among all human beings.

Even with nearly 40 years of music history behind her, the singer still has her ears to the streets and wasn't afraid to tell Billboard who she's been listening to.

Daniel Caesar is proving that romantic R&B is alive and well. Kendrick Lamar and J. Cole are proving that brilliantly original storytelling is one of hip-hop’s great gifts to world culture. SZA is proving that young women still possess extraordinary vocal skills and style.

I also have a special place in my heart for Bruno Mars. Bruno was really the first music my son responded to. During and after his birth, I comforted myself with Brazilian jazz, music that always relaxes me. Then when the baby began crawling, Bruno was breaking out big and on the radio all the time. That delighted both of us. Bruno is a throwback to the days when the greatest artists could do it all: write, sing, dance, produce.

Barbra Streisand’s Encore Makes History: Enters Billboard Chart at #1

The entertainment icon’s latest studio recording of Broadway duets also hit #1 in the U.K.

Barbra Streisand’s new recording Encore: Movie Partners Sing Broadway, which was released August 26, delivered the award-winning artist her 11th #1 album on Billboard magazine’s Hot 200 chart.

Encore, an album of showtunes recorded by the 74-year-old, sold 149,000 “equivalent album units” in the week ending September 1, according to Nielsen Music, beating out Florida Georgia Line’s Dig Your Roots, which came in second with 145,000 units. The positions had been forecast to be reversed. She also topped recent releases by Britney Spears and Frank Ocean.

Streisand has extended her track record of having the most #1 albums among female artists, and ties her with Bruce Springsteen for the third-most among all acts. The Beatles had a record 19 chart-toppers, followed by Jay Z, with 13.

Streisand was also on her way to having her seventh #1 album on the Official U.K. Albums Chart.

Encore: Movie Partners Sing Broadway, which marks Streisand’s 35th studio album, features duets of Broadway tunes with Hollywood stars, including Hugh Jackman, Alec Baldwin, Anne Hathaway, Melissa McCarthy, Seth MacFarlane, Patrick Wilson, Jamie Foxx and others.

RUMOR CONTROL: Is Diahann Carroll Suffering from Dementia?

I pray this isn’t true But according to The National Enquirer. Diahann Carroll the Oscar nominated 76-year-old  is in the early stages of the disease, reports the tabloid magazine.  The newspaper is reporting that close friends say she is losing her memory but report that she is surrounded by close friends.

Dementia is an irreversible disease that affects language, problem solving and memory. She reportedly cannot remember song lyrics.
