49TH Victim of the Orlando Massacre Father refuses to claim because he’s GAY!
The father of an Orlando shooting victim has refused to claim his son’s body because he was gay, the Advocate is reporting.
Of the 49 people who were shot and killed at Orlando’s Pulse nightclub, a popular gay hot spot in the City Beautiful, the bodies of 48 have been claimed and properly laid to rest. However, the body of the 49th victim, whose name is not being released, was not claimed by his immediate family.
According to an Orlando Latino post, which has since been deleted, the man was Puerto Rican. In fact, most of the victims of the Pulse shooting were Latino, as it was Latin Night at the club when the shooting took place. And in some corners of Latino culture, LGBTQ individuals are not welcome.
“The tale is part of the untold stories of the Latino victims of the Pulse nightclub massacre.”
Homophobia is alive and well in Puerto Rico, both privately in families, publicly in the island’s culture, and even in some corners of the island’s government.
Even though the U.S. Supreme Court has ruled that marriage equality is the law of the land in all 50 states, Puerto Rico, which is not a state but rather a territory, continues to oppose it. According to a March 2016 report in the Advocate, U.S. District Court Judge Juan Pérez-Giménez decreed that the ruling does not apply to Puerto Rico. Puerto Rico’s governor, Alejandro García Padilla, told the island’s residents to ignore the ruling.

According to a 2012 Global Gayz report, Puerto Rico’s traditionally masculine culture leaves little room for homosexuality.
“It appears that any expression of sexuality outside patriarchal heterosexuality is uniformly unwelcome. We grow up in very close-knit families with the mother as the anchor of the matriarchal hierarchy. Men wear the pants but women are the ones we fear.”
For a period of a few months in 2010 and 2011, Puerto Rico was beset by a wave of homophobic violence, according to Color Lines. Eighteen LGBTQ individuals on the island were killed in horrific hate crimes, and by some interpretations, anti-gay preachers and politicians on the island helped create a climate of hate.
Advocate writer Daniel Reynolds draws comparisons between the Orlando shooting victim’s family refusing to claim his body and similar situations during the early days of the AIDS crisis and a 1973 arson attack at a New Orleans gay night club.
In a May 2016 report in Out Magazine, Ruth Coker Burks spoke of her time caring for AIDS victims between 1984 and the mid-1990s. Many of the victims’ bodies went unclaimed by their families; Coker buried some of them herself. She buried the ashes of one man in a cemetery that had been reserved for her own family.
“No one wanted him, and I told him in those long 13 hours [as he lay dying] that I would take him to my beautiful little cemetery, where my daddy and grandparents were buried, and they would watch out over him.”
Similarly, filmmaker Robert L. Camina says that after the arson attack on New Orleans’ Upstairs Lounge club, which killed 32 people, many of the victims’ families wanted nothing to do with their bodies.
“These men went missing and no one claimed them? I can’t wrap my head around it. It’s unfathomable. I grieve for the unidentified victims of the fire. I don’t believe they have found peace yet. I am shocked and sickened that the families never claimed them and that their bodies were dumped into a pauper’s grave.”
Fortunately, the story of the Pulse shooting victim whose father refused to claim his body has a somewhat happy ending. With the help of the Orange County Medical Examiner and Florida Emergency Mortuary Operations Response System, relatives of the victim claimed the body and saw to it that the unnamed man was given a proper burial.
Man Claims He Was Omar Mateen’s Gay Lover says ‘He Did It For Revenge’ Against Latino Men
The alleged male lover of Orlando nightclub gunman Omar Mateen claims he did the shooting as “revenge” against Latino men.
The man, who spoke to Univision on the condition of anonymity, said Mateen held a grudge against Latino men he met at the gay nightclub Pulse because he felt used by them.
“I’ve cried like you have no idea. But the thing that makes me want to tell the truth is that he didn’t do it for terrorism. In my opinion he did it for revenge,” the man who said he was Mateen’s lover for two months told Univision.
The man told Univision that the FBI has interviewed him three times about Mateen. Univision reported that FBI said they have met with the man.
“He adored Latinos, gay Latinos, with brown skin, but he felt rejected. He felt used by them,” the man said. “There were moments in the Pulse nightclub that made him feel really bad. Guys used him. That really affected him.”
The man claimed that Mateen was upset after having a sexual encounter with two Puerto Rican men after one of them revealed he was HIV positive.
“He was terrified that he was infected,” the man told Univision. “I asked him, ‘Did you do a test?’ Yes. He went to the pharmacy and did the test … it came out negative, but it doesn’t come out right away. It takes four, five months.
“When I asked him what he was going to do now, his answer was, ‘I’m going to make them pay for what they did to me.’”
The called Mateen a “very sweet guy” and said he met him last year through a gay dating app.
The Los Angeles Times previously reported that Mateen used gay dating apps. He also frequented the Pulse nightclub before killing 49 people more than one week ago.
The man claims he and Mateen met around 20 times, with the last meeting taking place in December. He said Mateen never revealed his name to him, but told him that he was 35 and married with a son. He told Univision that he believed Mateen’s wife knew that he went to gay bars and that his marriage was to hide the fact that he was “100 percent” gay.
It was reported that on the night of the shooting Mateen went into the club and received a wristband and left. He then returned nearly two hours later to begin his attack.
Mateen pledged allegiance to the Islamic State of Iraq and Syria during the attack on Facebook and 911 calls.
The FBI previously investigated him for possible terrorist ties but those investigations were closed due to lack of evidence.
Frank Ocean Shares a Powerful Reaction To The Orlando Massacre!
The tragedy that occurred at Pulse’s Orlando nightclub on June 12 has left the world in shock, prompting many to preach love in the wake of such hateful events. A number of LGBTQ artists have shared touching and personal notes in reaction to the awful tragedy, and now the usually quiet Frank Ocean has shared his own powerful letter reflecting on the shooting and what kind of message it sends to LGBTQ people.
Read the heartrending full note below.
I read in the paper that my brothers are being thrown from rooftops blindfolded with their hands tied behind their backs for violating sharia law. I heard the crowds stone these fallen men if they move after they hit the ground. I heard it’s in the name of God. I heard my pastor speak for God too, quoting scripture from his book. Words like abomination popped off my skin like hot grease as he went on to describe a lake of fire that God wanted me in.
I heard on the news that the aftermath of a hate crime left piles of bodies on a dance floor this month. I heard the gunman feigned dead among all the people he killed. I heard the news say he was one of us. I was six years old when I heard my dad call our transgender waitress a faggot as he dragged me out a neighborhood diner saying we wouldn’t be served because she was dirty. That was the last afternoon I saw my father and the first time I heard that word, I think, although it wouldn’t shock me if it wasn’t.
Many hate us and wish we didn’t exist. Many are annoyed by our wanting to be married like everyone else or use the correct restroom like everyone else. Many don’t see anything wrong with passing down the same old values that send thousands of kids into suicidal depression each year. So we say pride and we express love for who and what we are. Because who else will in earnest? I daydream on the idea that maybe all this barbarism and all these transgressions against ourselves is an equal and opposite reaction to something better happening in this world, some great swelling wave of openness and wakefulness out here. Reality by comparison looks grey, as in neither black nor white but also bleak.
We are all God’s children, I heard. I left my siblings out of it and spoke with my maker directly and I think he sounds a lot like myself. If I being myself were more awesome at being detached from my own story in a way I being myself never could be. I wanna know what others hear, I’m scared to know but I wanna know what everyone hears when they talk to God. Do the insane hear the voice distorted? Do the indoctrinated hear another voice entirely?
XXL‘s highly-anticipated 2016 Freshman Class has officially arrived. The 10-man crew, billed as “The New Wave,” boasts familiar names including G.O.O.D. Music’s Desiigner, Aftermath’s Anderson .Paak, Kodak Black, and Lil Uzi Vert, who all appear in white on the cover.
The ninth annual list also features Dave East, Lil Dicky, Denzel Curry, G Herbo, 21 Savage, and Lil Yachty, who won the 10th Spot vote.
“I think this year’s class is great,” says XXL‘s editor-in-chief Vanessa Satten. “There’s been some controversy going into it. It’s always about who you’re going to pick, who you missed, who didn’t you get? Who fits in with who? Who’s a rapper? Who’s a singer? But overall, I think this is a great reflection of 2016 hip-hop.”
Expect video interviews and cyphers featuring the freshmen to drop in the coming weeks. Then, the crew will team up for a joint concert on June 28 in New York’s PlayStation Theater. Coincidentally, that same day will be the freshman issue’s release date. After that, the freshmen will make their way to Los Angeles for a show on July 25 and more shows are expected to be announced at a later date.

RHOA: NeNe Leakes Now Has Her Own Mobile App!
People love to hate on Kim Kardashian, but she (or someone on her team) is always coming up with some pretty innovative ideas. Pretty much everyone has copied her mobile video game and her Kimoji app by coming out with their own versions and NeNe Leakes is the latest star to join in on that trend.
At this point, you’re not even a celeb if you don’t have your own emoji app. So it was only a matter of time before NeNe hopped on board the emoji train. Her new mobile app is called Nemoji-naturally, but she did things a little bit differently than the other celeb app entrepreneurs.
My understanding is that NeNe’s Nemoji app is a combination of being a celeb video game and an emoji app. According to the official Nemoji description this what users can expect: “The app features Nene-inspired Emojis that include several of her famous sayings such as BLOOP, CLOSE UR LEGS TO MARRIED MEN, GIRL BY and many others. In addition the users will have access to several Stickers and special Dressing Room featuring items from Nene’s very own closet that enables the users to ‘Come Play With Me.’ In the dressing room the users can dress Nene with their choice of her hairstyles, clothing outfits, shoes and accessories.”
I’m kind of confused about whether the dressing room is actually a game with levels of achievement or if it’s just something fun for the users to experience, but it does seem like she is combining these two common celebrity app experiences into one.
And just like other similar mobile apps, the users have the option to connect to their social media accounts to share their usage with friends.
If you are an Apple user with an iPhone or iPad you can download Nemoji right now, but if you have an Android, you will have to wait until later this month to get it on your device.
If you’re curious about what the Nemojis look like, Check out this screen shot from NeNe’s Instagram.
#EMPIRE: Taraji P. Henson of “Empire” is renting her Hills home for 12K a month
After trying to sell it to no avail, she's after rental cash
Turns out you don’t need a long rap sheet and a leopard-print wardrobe to be fierce like Cookie Lyon.
Taraji P. Henson, the lead actress in television show “Empire,” is renting her Hollywood Hills home for a fierce $12,000 month.
Henson had originally listed her three-story home for sale at just under $3 million, but to no avail, the L.A. Times reported.
The Moorish-style residence was built in 2009. With four bedrooms and five bathrooms, the 4,200-square-foot property, located in the Beachwood Canyon area, also features a wine cellar, a built-in atrium and a media room. Outside, there is a lounge area, fire pit, two-car garage and hot tub.
There was a fifth bedroom, but it was converted into a dressing room and salon. Cookie would be proud.
New Music: Usher Feat. Young Thug – No Limit
As promised, Usher has now officially released his new single “No Limit” featuring Young Thug worldwide, for all our listening access.
Last week, the R&B superstar made his surprise comeback by releasing the song exclusively on TIDAL, and followed it up one day later with the worldwide release of his double single “Crash.” If you don’t use TIDAL or have other ways of hearing tracks that get exclusive releases on one of the digital streaming platforms, now you can hear the record in full.
“No Limit” was co-written by Usher and produced by Brandon “B.A.M” Hodge and co-produced by Christopher Perry. “Got that Master P, no limit baby / Give ya that black card, no limit / Just know that when you roll with a n**ga like me there’s no limit,” he sings.
Usher is readying his eighth studio album Flawed, which is reportedly set for a July release. Fans can catch him performing at the BET Experience at L.A.’s Staples Center on June 24.

BLACK STAR POWER at The Tony Awards!
Black actors won all four musical categories for actors last night at the Tony Awards. Epic! And so were their acceptance speeches.
"The Color Purple" star Cynthia Erivo won Leading Actress in a Musical and it was presented to her by fellow Tony winner Audra McDonald (who showed off her fab baby bump last night:
Renee Elise Goldsberry, winner for Featured Actress in a Musical for "Hamilton," had us on the verge of tears as she made her acceptance speech. The Carnegie Mellon University grad and member of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc. thanked God and her husband for her kids she tried so hard to have and she's in aww that she was still blessed with a Tony Award:
Rapper/Actor Daveed Diggs also had an inspiring acceptance speech:
He won Featured Actor in a Musical for "Hamilton," and it's well deserved. By the way, he's a Brown University grad and talks openly about his struggles to make it in this business, including having to sleep on subways.
The Tony Award for 'Best Leading Actor In A Musical' went to Leslie Odom, Jr. And we loved what he had to say about almost not making it to where he is. "Hamilton" is actually his Broadway debut:
Congrats!
OMG! Philly Female reported ATTACKED on Air!
Philadelphia police have arrested a woman in connection with the live on-air attack of Telemundo 62 reporter Iris Delgado on Wednesday night outside City Hall.
Delgado was reporting on the city soda tax just after 11 p.m. that night. In the middle of the news broadcast, a woman approached her and said “excuse me?” several times. She then struck Delgado in the face as the camera cut to anchor Ramon Zayas. “Ay, Dios mio!” he yelled. “Esperemos que esté bien.” (Oh, my god. We hope she’s okay.)
See the clip HERE
After the live shot, police say Delgado’s news crew followed the woman. Ninth District cops said they arrested her around 16th and JFK Boulevard. Police charged Waheedah Wilson, 37, with assault and recklessly endangering another person. Wilson allegedly struck Delgado three times and shoved her to the ground.
Wilson, who police records say resides on the 300 block of S. Broad Street, has a status hearing on July 11th.
Muhammad Ali’s Ex-Girlfriend Offering His Alleged Sex Tapes to Highest Bidder!
*A woman who once dated Muhammad Ali is reportedly offering to sell video footage she claims shows him in action at sex parties back in the day.
Barbara Mensah, who also says Ali is the biological father of her daughter Kiiursti, is seeking more than $100,000 for the videotapes she claims were shot at “gumbo parties” arranged after his fights.
“There would be Ali and a few of his guys and then about a dozen or more girls,” she told the Daily Mirror’s Sunday People. “All of them were stunning. Muhammad couldn’t keep away from a pretty girl whether he was married or not. The tapes show them having sex. They used to call them gumbo parties – it was a mix of everything.”
Barbara claims the tapes were entrusted to her by one of Ali’s closest confidants. “No one has anything like this. I’d like to get as much as I can for it,” she told the paper.
Barbara says she was a teenager when Ali, newly crowned world champion, met her on a visit to Houston. In April of that year, he refused to be conscripted into the Army for the war in Vietnam. Life magazine did a special edition on his defiance and published a photo of him with Barbara.
Describing her relationship with The Champ, Barbara said: “Ali always referred to me as his wife with great respect and not as a hidden affair.”
Her daughter Kiiursti, 35, is said to be the result of a 20-year affair Barbara had with Ali. She claims a 1988 paternity test proves Kiiursti is his child, although Ali is not named on her birth certificate.
She said Ali visited Kiiursti in Houston regularly until she was five, but his presence dwindled the following years. By age 13 all contact had stopped and the only other time they saw him was at an autograph signing in Dallas.
Barbara reportedly attended the Muslim prayer service for Ali Thursday in Louisville, Kentucky, claiming she came within a few feet of Ali’s widow Lonnie, 59, who she blames for cutting her out of his life. Showing pictures of Ali’s coffin on Facebook, Barbara wrote: “Yes she tried to keep me from you in life and in death but here I am at the private funeral. R.I.P. my love.”
The four-times-married boxer officially had nine children and Kiiursti claims she has met Laila Ali, 38, and Ali’s only biological son Muhammad Ali Jr. who was estranged from his father for more than two years before his death and also blames widow Lonnie for cutting him out.
Kiiursti has denied to Ali’s relatives that she and her mother want Ali’s fortune.
Barbara, now 70, is currently looking to get the cine film of his alleged sexual escapades transferred to digital.
She also claims to have written a “blockbuster” book about her life with Ali, and that it’s in the midst of a bidding war between eight publishers.
