#MAGFAB: Zendaya And Law Roach Have Launched 'Challengers' Magazine
If you thought Zendaya and Law Roach’s “Challengers” press looks on the red carpet and during TV and panel appearances were excellent, just know it gets better. The actress and image architect have launched Challengers Magazine. The new publication’s cover star? Tashi Duncan, the main character in Challengers, the new Zendaya-starring film.
The headline reads “Taschi Talks Fashion.” On the cover Zendaya wears a champagne gown designed by Annie Ibiza, Christian Louboutin pumps in the same shade, and jewelry pieces by Bulgari. Each image in the new “magazine” was shot by photographer and director Anthony Prince Leslie. In another image, she dons a sequined lime green dress designed by Hui while the next dress, a spaghetti strap square neckline frock is by Erdem.
These looks were all styled by the one and only Law Roach who is also Challengers Magazine’s global fashion director. The next look Roach styled her in was another stunning green dress by Mugler while her Cinderella blue gown on the next page is by Vivienne Westwood. The next page focused more on Taschi’s thoughts with the quote: “If you think that tennis is about expressing yourself and doing your thing, then you don’t know what it is.” Besides that quote, the actress wore a Meruert Tolegen skirt set with a vintage turquoise necklace by Bulgari.
In her second to last outfit of the inaugural issue, Zendaya wore a patterned set by Anna Sui. The dark green printed skirt and cardigan with the matching vest and socks worked seamlessly with the same Louboutin pumps from the first few looks. Her last outfit was a culmination of the tennis core trend. In the final shots, she wore a Longchamp bomber jacket with biker shorts paired with Louboutins.
Roach’s ingenious ability to create compelling packaging has led to the most stylish press run of 2024. This film’s fashion rollout has been divine to watch. From the aesthetically pleasing looks filled with lime green hues to the custom J.W. Anderson tennis-inspired looks, each facet has been admirable. And now with this new magazine which markets the actress in character, the film’s success is surely on the horizon.
#RHOA: Porsha Accuses Simon Of “Intimidating And Harassing Her Employer To “Threaten Her Reputation”
Last week, Simon submitted evidence alleging that his ex threatened to “ruin his reputation” with “libelous” actions. He claimed she sent a threatening text on March 11, stating, “Listen I suggest you stop spreading lies about me. I am holding your truth but I won’t for long if you are going to continue to lie on.”
According to RadarOnline, Porsha asked a judge to rule against his request to access information about filming the Bravo show. She claims her employment information has no bearing on the prenup.
As previously reported, Simon requested Porsha’s RHOA storyline details, texts and emails to producers, and copies of her hotel stays since January 2024. He is also “seeking access to any video and audio recordings” from their home since February 2024.
It seems like he’s doing more than digging up dirt from their breakup. He also requested all of her agreements and contracts since 2022 with True Entertainment, LLC, the company that produces #RHOA.
“The Subpoena broadly requests contracts, amendments, memos of understanding, financial documents, all communications, photographs, videos, recordings, tapings, footage or filming, none of which is relevant to do with divorce, or at least no basis has been shown thus far why such an invasive inquiry into would be appropriate or reasonable,” according to the filing.
Porsha’s recent filing slammed this as a tactic “attempting to intimidate, harass, and threaten her reputation, career, and ability to earn income by intimidating and harassing her employer.”
She called Simon’s request an attempt to stall proceedings about their prenup, which she says was “drafted by his former counsel, and negotiated for months, almost a year prior to its execution,” in addition to fumbling her Bravo bag.
“The Subpoena for Deposition issued in this matter by Respondent to True Entertainment, LLC was not issued in good faith, and is yet another deliberate and desperate attempt by Respondent to undermine the parties’ Prenuptial Agreement, overexpand the case, and delay enforcement of the parties’ Prenuptial Agreement and resolution of this matter as a whole,” the documents asserted.
Since Porsha accused the alleged “peach-chaser” of wasting time and money on this peach pettiness, she also requested that he cover the legal costs and attorney fees from fighting the motion.
At this rate, Simon and Porsha could take as long to settle this messy divorce as the 15 months they spent married. It’s a shame the relationship went down in flames because it seems like they each really met their match.
The fight for their prenup and shared mansion continues.

#HipHopNews: Kendrick Lamar Returns Fire On Drake With Six-Minute Diss Track "Euphoria"
After shaking the industry with his feature on “Like That,” Kendrick Lamar is back with an explosive follow-up. The Compton emcee took sharp aim at Drake on his latest single, “euphoria,”
The song opened with Lamar calmly reflecting on witnessing someone’s “superpowers” being neutralized, setting the stage for a six-minute lyrical assault. “The famous actor we once knew is lookin’ paranoid, now it’s spiraling/ You movin’ just like a degenerate, heavy antic; it’s feelin’ distasteful,” he rapped.
“I pray they my real friends; if not, I’m YNW Melly/ I don’t like you poppin’ s**t, that s**t for real, I inherit the beef/ Yeah, f**k all that pushin’ P, let me see you push a T,” Lamar spat later in the track. “You better off spinnin’ again on him; you think about pushin’ me?/ He’s Terrance Torn, I’m Terrance Crawford, yeah, I’m whoppin’ feet.”
He continued, “This ain’t been ’bout critics, not about gimmicks, not about who the greatest/ It’s always been about love and hate; now let me say I’m the biggest hater.” Elsewhere in the record, the “i” hitmaker made nods to Gunna, Sexyy Red, Lil Yachty, and Tupac Shakur, among others. Check out the new release HERE.
“euphoria” is part of an ongoing exchange of disses involving other artists, including Rick Ross and Metro Boomin. J. Cole previously entered the fray with “7 Minute Drill,” later apologizing and withdrawing the track from streaming platforms.
Drake responded with “Push Ups” and “Taylor Made Freestyle,” the latter featuring AI-generated vocals resembling Snoop Dogg and Shakur, which drew legal threats from the late rapper’s estate.
“You personally are well acquainted both with publicity rights and the laws that protect them, and with the harm that unauthorized AI impersonations can cause to artists, including yourself,” lawyer Howard King wrote in a cease-and-desist letter to Drake.
Angel Reese, Sha’Carri Richardson, Naomi Osaka Tapped For New Beats Solo Campaign
Beats continues to tap prominent athletes in various sports to back their popular premium audio gadgets — with Angel Reese, Sha’Carri Richardson and Naomi Osaka as its latest recruits.
The newly-drafted WNBA Chicago Sky player, history-making track runner and record-breaking tennis star have all joined Beats for the newest edition of its signature Solo 4 headphones and wireless earbuds. In the campaign video, all three ladies are on set for photoshoots curated with their respective fields in mind. As they prep with makeup and hair, each lady sports the headset — including Reese turning up to one of her favorite tunes.
The all-new line of Beats Solo Buds comes in four new colors including Matte Black, Storm Gray, Arctic Purple and Transparent Red, retailing at $79.99. For the new installation of Solo headphones, consumers will get new color-ways of Matte Black, Slate Blue and Cloud Pink ($199.99), which all three ladies are sporting in the campaign.
Take a look at the three athletes in the all-new Beats campaign above, and purchase both Solo 4 headphones and wireless Buds here.
“Our newly expanded Solo line delivers remarkable value, offering exceptional sound quality, battery life and comfort in our most portable designs,” stated Oliver Schusser, Apple’s vice president of Apple Music, Apple TV+, Sports, and Beats. “Beats Solo 4 takes our bestselling headphone to the next level with outstanding performance upgrades, and the all-new Beats Solo Buds pack impressive power in our smallest product yet.”
Reese, Richardson and Osaka are the perfect faces to represent Beats, as each athlete knows what it takes to prepare, compete, and win. The 21-year-old former LSU star recently spoke with VIBE about her influence as a young, competitive athlete, who also happens to be a Black woman.
“Being able to leave my impact, giving young girls the look that they can do these things — I want them to have a face and understand they can have these same opportunities that I have,” she said. “You never really see a young Black girl being able to do this.” Check out the video below.
The olympic track runner also spoke on her influence last year during her acceptance speech for the Jackie Joyner-Kersee Athlete of the Year for Women Award.
“I understand the influence that I have,” Richardson began. “I understand the responsibility that I have to USATF and as a top female USA athlete, and to my country, and to my Black family, to my beautiful women, to everybody that has been misunderstood for trying to be their best selves and not be put into a category because they do track and field and have been put in a bubble.”
While speaking on a mental health and sports panel last year, the 2020 U.S. Open champion spoke on prioritizing her own, and also acknowledged her individuality, despite having her “bad” days.
“Every person is unique in this world and that’s something that no one can take away, and you just got [to] appreciate that and know that you’re special, and I don’t think people say that enough,” she said.

Kobe Bryant’s Former Friend Labels Late Legend A “Piece Of Sh*t,” And Explains Why
Kobe Bryant‘s former friend, Kevin Sanchez, has labeled the late athlete “a piece of sh*t.”During an interview with Blood on the Razor Wire, Sanchez opened up about his complicated friendship with Bryant, recalling a moment when he was released from prison and needed to get back on his feet.
Kevin claims he waited outside in the rain for the Los Angeles Lakers bus to arrive at their practice facility in Philly to talk to Kobe. After a “weird” conversation, the athlete allegedly gave him his number and told him he would be in touch.
“Look man, I don’t want no hand-outs, I don’t want no money, I don’t want sh*t,” he claims he told the NBA great. “Here’s what I need you to do…all I want to do is go back with you, you get me out there in LA somewhere, put me with somebody where I can make my own money, you just get me in and I’m working for somebody on something, a business, anything to benefit myself. I don’t want nothing free, I don’t want to do nothing but work for it.”
Sanchez also suggested joining Bryant’s security team. “We was super tight, there’s no reason he wouldn’t do this for me,” he added.
However, the number Bryant gave Kevin led to an assistant, and Bryant never spoke directly to him again.
“This is when I really found out he was a piece of sh*t,” Sanchez recalled.
Later, Sanchez claimed to have spoken to one of the icon’s cousins during his last game. Kevin claimed his cousin echoed his sentiments of Bryant being a “piece of sh*t.” His cousin also alleged that Bean “never did nothing for nobody”—including his family members.
According to Grantland, Kobe and Kevin go back years, with Sanchez being an integral part in Bryant’s old rap aspirations. The two met at Lower Merion High School after Kobe returned from living abroad in Italy. Anthony Bannister introduced the two after adding them both to his rap group that became CHEIZAW. Sanchez “[molded] Bryant into an MC,” but unfortunately, their dreams as a rap group were derailed.
In July 1996, Sanchez was mistaken for another man who robbed a 7-Eleven, and was arrested. Kevin claimed that he was rapping with Bannister, Kobe, and the crew during the robbery, but he was still identified as the robber. The publication reported that Kobe and Kevin remained in contact before his September 1998 trial. Bryant was also responsible for posting his bail and even appeared at Sanchez’s preliminary hearing. The trial went on for two days. Kobe paid for Bannister to fly to the trial to testify, but the athlete was a no-show himself.
Five eyewitnesses failed to identify Kevin, but he was still found guilty and sentenced to 5 to 10 years in prison. The outlet reports that a juror told him that Bryant’s testimony could’ve swayed the jury. And in 2013, Sanchez said he didn’t blame Bryant.
“It wasn’t Kobe’s fault I went to jail. I don’t blame him,” he recalled. “We didn’t think we’d need him. It was a false ID. There was no way we were going to lose.”
LeBron James Tells Fans To Shut Up Amid Speculation About His NBA Future
LeBron James got sassy in his response to speculation about his future following the Lakers playoff exit. The athlete told fans to shut up when addressing his future with NBA and the Los Angeles Lakers on social media.
On Tuesday, April 30, the 39-year-old took to X, formerly known as Twitter, to respond to the speculation. "I've seen, heard a lot of reports about my future," he wrote. "I said it last night and I'll say it again. I do not know yet as I'm only thinking about spending time with my family & friends!"
"When I know after speaking with the fam, my counsel as well as my representation about it then you guys will know," the four-time NBA champion added. Urging fans to stop speculating on the matter, he concluded his tweet, "Until then [hush emoji]. Love [crown emoji]."
LeBron issued the statement after Lakers was eliminated from the playoffs following its 108-106 defeat in the game against the Denver Nuggets on Monday night, April 29. The disappointing result condemned them to a 4-1 series loss and ended their playoff hopes for another year.
Following the game, he got coy when asked by a reporter whether there was any thought about Monday's game being his last with the Lakers. He paused before saying, "Umm, I'm not gonna answer that."
Last week, LeBron walked out of press conference following Lakers' loss to the Nuggets in Game 2 of their first-round playoff series. Looking perturbed, he voiced his frustration over the officiating in the game.
"Of course it's a heartbreaking game, you never want to lose in that fashion," he said of the game, which ended with a Jamal Murray buzzer-beating game-winning shot. "I don't understand what's going on in the replay center, to be honest. I think I said it this year or last year or whatever. [D'Angelo Russell] clearly gets hit in the face on a drive."
He went ranting, "What the f**k do we have a replay center if it's going to go - it doesn't make sense to me. It makes no sense to me. It bothers me. Sorry I didn't answer your question, but that s**t is like - and then I saw what just happen with the Sixers-Knicks game too. What are we doing?"
LeBron then proceeded to exit the press conference which lasted a mere four minutes, shorter than his typical post-game media sessions.
T.J. Holmes Explains Having To Be Calm Despite 'Accused Of Stealing' Cell Phone On Flight
T.J. Holmes has opened up about his unpleasant experience during a recent flight. On "Amy & T.J." podcast, the former correspondent and anchor for ABC News revealed that he was accused of stealing a cell phone.
In the Tuesday, April 30 episode of the podcast, the 46-year-old TV personality offered details about the unexpected situation. Speaking to his listeners alongside Amy Robach, he said that it happened when he and Amy were on a JetBlue flight to fly to Los Angeles.
T.J. recalled, "I was just recently accused of stealing somebody's cell phone on a flight. [It was] JetBlue but I can't remember the flight number or I would tell you. The woman was sitting in 1F and I was in 5C."
The former "Good Morning America 3" anchor went on to say, "I was using a bathroom at the front next to the cockpit. I come out and there's a flight attendant and a little old lady." He also noted that the woman was "white with dirty blonde hair."
"She's standing there and the flight attendant asks if I saw a phone in there. And I immediately turned around and said, 'Oh, no. I didn't see anything,' " he further recounted. "The woman steps toward me and gestures like she is about to frisk me, 'Oh, you don't have it?' In front of the plane she accused me of taking her phone."
"I actually crouched down, put my hands on my knees and got down on her level," T.J. additionally stated. "I asked, 'Ma'am, are you telling me I took your phone?' She kind of ignores me."
T.J. said that the woman eventually found her cell phone "in her seat." He shared that she then "turned" around to him, "mortified, screaming across the five rows, 'I'm so sorry!' " Amy joined in, "Sorry doesn't cut it at that point," prompting him to agree with his 51-year-old former "Good Morning America 3" co-host.
T.J. elaborated, "I have to be calm. If there weren't more people around then I wouldn't have bent down and been as assertive as I was because I wouldn't have a witness that I wasn't aggressive towards her."

Minneapolis Agrees To $150k Settlement For Witness Who Tried To Intervene In George Floyd's Death
The Minneapolis City Council has agreed to a $150,000 settlement with Donald Williams, a mixed martial arts fighter and eyewitness to George Floyd’s murder, who said he experienced PTSD from the incident, according to the Star Tribune.
Blavity reported that Williams, now 35, filed the lawsuit against the city in May 2023. He alleged that he and several other bystanders were assaulted by police while attempting to intervene in Floyd’s arrest on May 25, 2020.
The complaint also stated that Williams was concerned about Floyd’s safety after former Minneapolis police officer Derek Chauvin kneeled on Floyd’s neck for nearly 10 minutes as Floyd begged for his life.
Williams said Chauvin had threatened him and others with a can of mace and shook it as he remained kneeled on Floyd’s neck, AP reported. As he continued to voice his concerns about the situation, Tou Thao, an officer at the time, stepped in and placed his hand on Williams’ chest.
Although both officers are now convicted, Williams said he feared for his safety and endured medical expenses, pain, suffering, emotional distress, humiliation and embarrassment, according to the suit.
The council voted without opposition on Thursday, approving the settlement amount to Williams, per the Tribune.
Williams also drew upon his martial arts knowledge as he testified against Chauvin during his trial in 2021. He explained that the move used on Floyd was a “blood choke” to limit his circulation.
“I called the police on the police,” he testified, according to the Tribune. When asked why, he said: “Because I believe I witnessed a murder.”
In April 2021, Chauvin was found guilty of third-degree murder, second-degree unintentional murder, and second-degree manslaughter in Floyd’s death, and in June 2021 he was sentenced to 22.5 years in prison.
A year later, he was sentenced to 20 years in federal prison for violating Floyd’s civil rights. Chauvin pleaded guilty to the federal rights charges and was sentenced to over 20 years in prison, to be served concurrently with his state conviction. Thao was convicted in state court and was sentenced to over 4 years in prison his involvement in Floyd’s death.
Alicia Keys reacts after earning 13 Tony nominations for “Hell’s Kitchen” musical
The American Theatre Wing announced the 2024 nominees for the Antoinette Perry Awards for Excellence in Broadway Theatre, which is more commonly known as the Tony Awards. Included in the list of shows acknowledged was "Hell's Kitchen," a semi-autobiographical production based on Alicia Keys' life. The hit show earned a whopping 13 nominations – tying with "Stereophonic" – for Best Musical, Best Book of a Musical, and a slew of others for individual performances, design, and choreography.
In an interview with The New York Times, Keys said that she's "definitely in a deep state of freaking out in a really great, awesome, grateful way" after hearing the news. "I don’t know what’s happening to me," she admitted. "I’m a songwriter and I can’t put my words together, but I feel unbelievable. I’m so excited for everybody to be recognized."
Keys continued, "I’ve always felt really good about it, and I know that we’ve put the work and the time into it, and so I do feel a sense of strength and joy around it, but you just never know how people receive things. You never know how it all goes. And ultimately, you can’t create with that in mind — you have to create with your mission in mind."
On the official website, "Hell's Kitchen" -- which Keys created alongside playwright Kristoffer Diaz -- is described as a "coming-of-age story" about a 17-year-old girl named Ali. "Rebellious and stifled by an overprotective single mother, Ali is lost until she meets her mentor: A neighbor who opens her heart and mind to the power of the piano," it reads. "Set to the rhythm of the '90s, 'Hell's Kitchen' is a love story between a mother and daughter. It's about finding yourself, your purpose, and the community that lifts you.”

Welp! You knew it was coming… Jaguar Wright expeditiously took to social media to respond to Christopher Williams calling her a “crackhead.”
The soul singer, who has now become infamous for her unfiltered tales about the music industry, revisited Christopher’s 2017 arrest for stealing $99 JBL headphones out of Kohl’s.
The singer told security he forgot he had put the headphones in his tote.
Jaguar Wright said, “Security wasn’t it buying it just like ain’t nobody buying that you ain’t give Diddy head.
She added: Stealing out of Kohl’s is the stupidest s— you can do! Everybody gets caught.

In a bizarre turn of events, Jaguar Wright mentioned that she’s grieving because her mother passed away and her sister is hiding the body.
Sierra Gates Gets Russian Lip Fillers On IG Live
Sierra Gates is determined to push her body to the point of no return. Just two weeks after being hospitalized for a massive leg tattoo that left her “learning to walk” again, she took to social media to get Russian lip fillers.
Russian lip fillers are a technique, not a new product. It utilizes Restylane or Juvederm, both containing natural hyaluronic acid, minimizing risks of adverse reactions or allergies.
Sierra Gates took to her Instagram Story writing, “Stuck in the house for 7 more days. About to get my lips done. I’ll go live stay tuned!”
She stayed true to her word and went live while getting her lips done.
Sierra still isn’t 100 percent after the tattoo and still struggles when she walks.
However, on her first day off antibiotics, she met NeNe Leakes for drinks!
They say “Pretty Hurts,” but it has to be excruciating at this point!
ABC News Meteorologist Rob Marciano Is Out at the Network
ABC News is parting ways with longtime meteorologist, Rob Marciano as the reporter has been let go from the network.
According to Puck, the ABC World News Tonight with David Muir and Good Morning America meteorologist has been fired. The booting comes after multiple complaints against Marciano over the years to the point where he was temporarily banned from the Good Morning America set.
In March 2023, a report from Page Six detailed reasons why Marciano hadn’t reported from the GMA studio because, according to an unnamed source, “He was found to have done something… that was improper, but he was punished for it, and they still haven’t let him return.” Details surrounding the situation weren’t defined, but it was said, “He made people feel uncomfortable.”
It’s uncertain what led to Marciano’s dismissal now, but his appearances on ABC News have been spottier in recent months. At the time of the Page Six report, a source told the outlet, “Any decision made about the team is based first and foremost on protecting the culture and enabling our people to focus on the work of news-gathering — free of distraction.”
Marciano celebrated the start of his tenth year with ABC News in September 2023, noting the anniversary on his social media. “This month marks the start of my 10th year with ABC News, and I couldn’t be more pumped to continue this journey with all of you,” he wrote on Instagram. “I always dreamed of working for this network as a kid, and my children are equally psyched that I will now be home most weekends!”
In addition to his work with ABC News and Good Morning America, Marciano appeared as a co-anchor for two years on the syndicated entertainment news program Entertainment Tonight and served as a meteorologist and anchor on CNN.
Rege-Jean Page Reveals the Reason Why He Left 'Bridgerton'
On becoming an overnight success after Bridgerton…Rege-Jean responded, “It’s overnight for everyone else. Nothing changes for me. When it’s tough, when no one wants you in the room, when you’ve got to fight to bust down the door—you do the work, you turn up. It works or it doesn’t. When it’s loud and there’s a lot of attention and people are gassing you up with all kinds of things—some are true, some aren’t—same thing: You turn up, you do the work, and sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn’t. The trick is to make sure that you focus on your job as hard as you did when you were struggling to get to do your job.”
On why he left Bridgerton and if it was because he didn’t want to become “pigeonholed”…
Rege-Jean responded, “It’s much simpler than that. I signed up to do a job and I did the job and then I did some other jobs. That’s it. That’s the story. I wish it was more glamorous than that. [After] we finished the story, the temptation would be to roll with the distractions and go, ‘Oh, well, the story went really well so we can kind of change this up and make some other stuff up, I guess.’ That was never what we’d signed up to do.”
Two additional stars exited Bridgerton season 3, and one actress was replaced.
Melissa McCarthy Responds to Streisand's Ozempic Question, Babs Apologizes
If you didn’t see this week’s viral news, Barbra Streisand commented on Melissa McCarthy‘s recent Instagram post, asking her if she used Ozempic.
It began when Melissa shared photos of herself attending Center Theatre Group’s CTG Gala over the weekend with her friend Adam Shankman.
“Give him my regards did you take Ozempic?” Barbra wrote in Melissa‘s comments.
Barbra quickly received a ton of backlash for seemingly commenting on Melissa’s body by bringing up the commonly used weight loss drug.
Now, Melissa is responding. Melissa posted an Instagram of her reading “Barbra: Celebrating an Icon” (available with only 2 left in stock on Amazon!)
Melissa then also shared a video, where she said, “The takeaway, Barbra Streisand knows I exist. She reached out to me and she thought I looked good! I win the day.”
“RuPaul's Drag Race” star Roxxxy Andrews doesn't like your bus stop jokes: 'It's not funny'
“RuPaul's Drag Race” star Roxxxy Andrews doesn't like your bus stop jokes: 'It's not funny'
"Make fun of something else," the "All Stars 9" queen says in an exclusive interview with EW.
If you have a mean joke to make about a bus stop in Roxxxy Andrews' presence, the RuPaul's Drag Race season 5 and All Stars 2 icon wants you to keep trucking in the other direction.
In an exclusive interview about her past (and future) on the show, the returning All Stars 9 queen tells Entertainment Weekly that fans' repeated jokes about the emotional moment she opened up to RuPaul about her mother leaving her at a bus stop as a child "absolutely" still sting all these years later.
"The reason being, that was probably one of the saddest moments of my life. So, when I shared that on Drag Race, I loved it, because you always think of those moments you can be helping somebody else. Which, I have heard from those people whenever I get to meet them," Roxxxy explains. "If someone jokes about it, if you're close to me and I know you're saying it from a place of not trying to harm me and make fun of my tragedy, I don't mind it. But, if you're someone I've never met or on Instagram and tag me at a bus stop and say, 'Thinking of Roxxxy.' Like, really? That's what you want to say to me?"
The Florida-based entertainer adds that she's gone after a handful of people who've made a quip about the moment online.
"They're like, 'Oh, I didn't mean offense!' And I'm like, but I don't know you, and that's not funny. If your mom died, do you want me to make fun of your mom that died?" asks Roxxxy. "It's not funny. Make fun of something else. Make fun of me being mean to Jinkx [Monsoon on season 5]. Let's try something, go down another alley. But, if you feel the need to have to make a joke, then make it. I'm not going to see it, but make it."
She stresses that, in some instances, the jokes are okay. Like when her All Stars 2 sister Katya used the moment to "read" Roxxxy during the fan-favorite library challenge back in 2016: "Roxxxy Andrews, I think about you all the time," Katya said on the episode. "Especially in the morning, at the bus stop."
"I knew Katya, and Katya had asked about the joke," Roxxxy recalls. "Make a joke. I know it's not coming from ill intent. If I don't know you, I don't know that, so, first thing for me is to want to jump on you."
Back on Drag Race season 5 in 2013, Roxxxy fronted one of the most memorable episodes in the show's her-story when, after a jaw-dropping wig reveal during a lip-sync against Alyssa Edwards, Roxxxy broke down and revealed her past to Mama Ru.
"It just hit me. Not feeling wanted and not being good enough. I just feel like my mom never wanted me. My mother left my sister and myself at a bus stop when I was three, and I remember it like it was yesterday," Roxxxy said through tears, prompting panelist Michelle Visage to cry as well. "I come off as this strong character, I try to say so strong but I'm so weak and I'm so tired. It just hurts that I was left, nobody cared."
RuPaul responded with maternal grace, tearing up as she replied: "We love you, and you are so welcome here. We as gay people, we get to choose our family, you know? We get to choose the people that we're around. You know what I'm saying? I am your family. We are a family here. I love you."
Roxxxy also teases that the more entertaining side of her Drag Race legacy might return on AS9 — including potential references to her legendary roast character, Tasha Salad, and she may or may not do a runway look in tribute to the rhinestone top she famously lent Alaska on All Stars 2.
And yet, it's Roxxxy's progression through the art form that might have fans gagging the hardest.
"[I was] always scared to get ugly because that wasn’t what I knew drag to be. There’s going to be a lot of ugly, there’s going to be a lot of different Roxxxy that people haven’t seen," she promises. "There’s a certain episode I can’t talk about, but, let me tell you, when it comes out, y’all are going to know. You’re going to remember this moment. Ugly, very.... Bloody. Gory. Think Dragula, but Drag Race, on Roxxxy."
