#MAGFAB: Taraji P. Henson, in W Magazine’s 2024 Best Performances Issue
W MAGAZINE’s 2024 Best Performances Portfolio, part of their annual Best Performances issue on stands February 13th, celebrates 28 incredible actors at the forefront of cinema. Curated by W’s editor-at-large, Lynn Hirschberg, the Best Performances Portfolio features profiles with Taraji P. Henson, Barry Keoghan, Margaret Qualley, Jeffrey Wright, Julia Garner, Franz Rogowski, Gael García Bernal, and Talia Ryder among others, photographed by Juergen Teller and styled by W Magazine’s Editor-in-Chief, Sara Moonves.

On who and what has helped her on her path as an actor: “…the great thing about destiny is, if you stay focused, whatever is yours is coming to you, baby! I ran from Shug, and she came back and got me on a platform where I could really breathe life into her and love up on her. You know, my father, rest in peace, he kept telling me I would win an Oscar. So, Dad, hey—what’s happening? Can you talk to the big guy? [Laughs] The one thing my father did say to me was, ‘Wait until the world hears you sing.’ And this was right before he passed away.”

Nice!

#RHOA: Porsha Williams Opens up About Her "Sweet Bonus Son"
Porsha Williams is one proud stepmom. On Tuesday, January 9, The Real Housewives of Atlanta alum took some time to celebrate the birthday of Christian Guobadia, the second-oldest son of her entrepreneur husband, Simon Guobadia. Porsha posted a heartwarming Instagram carousel that included photos of the teen and his time with their blended family. The slides showed Christian posing with his little brother, Benjamin; his little sister, Ximena; as well as his stepsister, Pilar Jhena “PJ” McKinley, whom Porsha shares with her ex-fiancé, Dennis McKinley.

“Help me wish the Happiest 14th birthday to Christian!! My sweet bonus son!” Porsha captioned the Instagram. “He is the kindest most thoughtful child and I’m blessed to have you in my life! We Love you and are so proud of the young man that you are, your parents have done an amazing job with you.”

Porsha’s husband, Simon, also took to Instagram to celebrate his son’s special day. He, too, shared a series of photos that included memorable moments from Christian’s childhood.
“Happy 14th Birthday to my handsome, loving and caring son Christian,” Simon wrote in the January 9 post. “At 6’4” you are a gentle giant with a huge heart. I pray you continue to grow and grow in wisdom. Love you son.”

Porsha married Simon in late 2022, about two years after she split with Dennis. Simon entered the marriage with five kids, including his adult son, Quentin, and adult daughter, Nicole; while Porsha’s first and only child, PJ, was just 3 years old at the time of their nuptials.
The Atlanta mom spoke about her blended family during an interview with Essence last month, saying her experience as a stepmom has been “really special.”

“Well, I grew up in a blended household, as well,” she said in the December 15, 2023, article. “My stepmother is amazing and it really wasn’t about stepmother and like half siblings. We were just family. And I think when you just think of everyone as a family and treat everybody and love everybody as your own, I think that’s the best thing to do when it comes to a blended family.”

Porsha also shared a piece of advice for those who were new to blended-family life.
“I don’t really think it’s anything you need to be afraid of,” she continued. “Just be yourself and be genuine and I think that everybody will gravitate towards each other in the right time. And just as you love your spouse, you’re gonna love his kids and it’ll all come together. Don’t overthink it at all. Just be yourself.”

#HipHopNews: Doja Cat Seemingly Hints At 'Scarlet 2' Release
Over the weekend, Doja Cat sparked excitement among her fans by seemingly hinting at a sequel to her fourth studio album.
On her Instagram Story, she posted a whiteboard that listed several song titles under the heading “S2,” which was speculated by fans to mean Scarlet 2. The seven names included “Acknowledge Me,” “Head High,” “Gang,” “Masc,” “Rider,” “Urrrge” and “Hungry.”

Anticipation for new music from Doja notably aligns with her upcoming show run this summer. She’s set to embark on her first-ever headlining arena trek in the UK and Europe as part of the “The Scarlet Tour.” It’s slated to begin on June 11 at the OVO Hydro arena in Glasgow, followed by performances in Birmingham, London and Newcastle.

Doja is also scheduled to headline several festivals, including Poland’s Open’er Festival and Rock In Rio Lisbon, with rumors of her playing at Coachella 2024.

Scarlet came out in September 2023. The project spanned 17 songs, including pre-released singles such as “Paint The Town Red,” “Attention” and “Demons.” Production was handled by the likes of Jay Versace, Earl on the Beat, London on da Track and others. Additionally, it debuted at No. 5 on the Billboard 200 chart with 72,000 album-equivalent units sold.

The following month, Doja opened up about the LP’s last-minute changes, including it initially being named Hellmouth. “I don’t care about the meaning being so deep, as much as the word being a cool word,” she told Sean Evans during “Hot Ones.” The artist continued, “I just like good words. I thought ‘Hellmouth’ was cool… it’s like the gates of hell. But that felt so aggressive to me after a while, and I don’t know if I even like it anymore.”

Earlier this month, Doja made a guest appearance on 21 Savage’s “n.h.i.e” from american dream. She also collaborated with Jeymes Samuel and Kodak Black for “Jeezu” last Friday (Jan. 12). Her verse earned praise from JAY-Z.

Emmys 2024: Matthew Perry Honored With 'Friends' Theme Song In Poignant In Memoriam Tribute
During the night of celebration at the 75th Primetime Emmy Awards, the show took a moment to remember some beloved icons that the TV community has lost over the past year. During the In Memoriam tribute, The Television Academy honored some late actors such as Matthew Perry, Angus Cloud and Lance Reddick.

A known "Friends" fan, Charlie Puth was on hand to usher in the tribute with a rendition of his 2015 hit "See You Again", which was originally written in honor of late actor Paul Walker. He played the piano and was joined singer-songwriter duo The War and Treaty.

Pictures of the likes of Adan Canto, Angela Lansburry, Suzanne Somers, Stephen "Twitch" Boss, Richard Belzer and more flashed on screen as Puth transitioned into an emotional cover of "Friends" theme song "I'll Be There For You".
Len Goodman, Paul Reubens, Kirstie Alley, Treat Williams, Andre Braugher, Harry Belafonte, Alan Arkin, David McCallum, Bob Barker and more were also honored in the segment, before photos of Barbara Walters and Perry were among the final few faces shown.

Perry died unexpectedly on October 28, 2023 at age 54. He was found unconscious in the pool of his house. He was laid to rest at Forest Lawn Memorial Park in Los Angeles following a funeral attended by his close family and friends, including "Friends" stars Jennifer Aniston, Courteney Cox, Matt LeBlanc, David Schwimmer and Lisa Kudrow, on November 3.
The Los Angeles County Coroner later announced that the "Whole Nine Yards" actor died from the acute effects of ketamine, after he was being sober for 19 months. The autopsy report also listed drowning, coronary artery disease and effects of buprenorphine, a synthetic opioid used to treat addiction, as well as other factors that contributed to his death.

In a recent interview, Aniston shared how she wants fans to remember her late co-star. She told Entertainment Tonight, "Celebrate him."

Miami Heat to Honor Legend Dwyane Wade with Statue

On the court, he was larger than life and helped lead the Miami Heat to three NBA Championships. Now the team will honor the legacy of legend Dwyane Wade with a bronze statue.
“Dwyane’s legacy is a towering one not only for the Miami HEAT but for Miami-Wade County. I can’t think of a better way to honor him than by memorializing that legacy,” said Heat President Pat Riley in a statement.

On Sunday, Riley announced that an eight-foot statue of the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame inductee will be unveiled outside the Kaseya Center in the fall.

The Heat commissioned sculptors Omri Amrany and Oscar León of Fine Art Studio Rotblatt Amrany to create the statue.
Amrany’s works of retired NBA stars include the iconic “Michael Jordan Spirit” in Chicago, as well as statues of Shaquille O’Neal, Dirk Nowitzki, and Kareem Abdul-Jabbar.

“We are honored and excited to capture the essence of Dwyane Wade,” said Amrany and León in a statement. “It is a privilege for both the athlete to be immortalized and for us, as artists, to create a statue that celebrates a lifetime of excellence. We dreamed about this for many years and now, it’s a reality!”

Wade played for the Heat for 15 of his 16 seasons. In addition to the NBA Championships, his accomplishments include being named an NBA All-Star MVP, making the All-Star selection 13 times, two All-NBA First Team selections, three All-NBA Second Team selections, and three All-NBA Third Team selections.

Bruno Mars and Longtime Girlfriend are ‘Living Separate Lives’
*Bruno Mars and his girlfriend of thirteen years, Jessica Caban, are reportedly “on the rocks,” according to insiders.
Mars, 38, and Caban, 41, allegedly spent Christmas and New Year’s Eve apart, Daily Mail reports. A friend of the couple told The Sun, “Bruno and Jessica barely spend time together anymore — it is really sad.”

The pair started dating in 2011 after meeting at a restaurant in New York City, RadarOnline reports.
“They are living separate lives so it doesn’t bode well for their relationship. It feels like things are fizzling out between them,” the tea spiller added.

“They have so much history together but we aren’t sure whether they will be able to save things this time,” the source continued.
The Hawaii-born artist reportedly lives with his girlfriend in the Hollywood Hills with their dog Geronimo. In a 2016 interview with Rolling Stone, Bruno called Jessica his “best friend” and “my rock,” the Daily Mail reports.

Bruno Mars is currently on tour abroad, and his busy schedule is said to negatively impact his relationship with the model.
“It would be hard for them to say goodbye but perhaps it’s for the best at this point,” the couple’s pal said.
Bruno Mars reportedly penned his hit track “When I Was Your Man” about his girlfriend when their relationship was icy.

“When you perform it, you know, you’re bringing up these emotions again. It’s just like bleeding,” Mars said previously, according to Radar. “I’m not answering any questions about this song. It’s too close to home.”

R. Kelly Combats $10.5m Judgment, Believes He Is Not Responsible For Threat Against ‘Surviving R. Kelly’ Screening

R. Kelly is combatting a judgment in a lawsuit by women who stated he victimized them. According to TMZ, six women were awarded a collective $10.5 million for the attempted shutdown of the Surviving R. Kelly docuseries screening with his former manager, Donnell Russell.

In response, Kelly and his legal team stated they would have combatted the case if they were unaware. Kelly states he was too busy with the criminal cases and has difficulty keeping up with everything from his North Carolina prison cell.
Adding to the complexities of his situation, R. Kelly stated a transition in his legal representation may have also let lawsuits slip through the cracks. Kelly states he also relies on legal reps when he has them because “I cannot read or understand words beyond that of a grade schooler.”

R. Kelly also states Donnell operated independently and “for his own reasons.”
In November, R. Kelly initiated a lawsuit against the Federal Bureau of Prisons, claiming the agency leaked his private information to Tasha K.

The suit was filed in Chicago gedeal court, stating an agent at the Bureau of Prisons accessed the singer’s prison records, which also had phone calls with his lovers and lawyers, and sold them to Tasha K. Tasha K then used them online to her followers.
“The defendant United States of America breached its duty of care to the plaintiff when it allowed countless BOP officers to access plaintiff’s confidential information without any legal basis to do so,” Kelly’s lawyer Jennifer Bonjean filed, according to Billboard.

Tasha K is also listed in the suit, stating she used her following to “harass the plaintiff” and caused “chaos in the plaintiff’s personal life.”
The suit also states that R. Kelly is fearful of speaking with his team due to the possibility it could be “released to the general public for mass exploitation.”

In August, R. Kelly wrapped up his most recent restitution bill. Following his high-profile criminal cases, Kelly still owed $506,950.26 to his victims. His next royalty check will cover the bill.

According to TMZ, Universal Music Group’s payout to R. Kelly was 567,444.19, more than enough to cover his remaining bill. Before the remainder goes elsewhere, UMG will direct a check to his restitution.

Man’s Louis Vuitton Face Tattoos Go Viral
In the latest edition of WTF, a man got his face covered in Louis Vuitton tattoos.
It appears that the man was tattooed by artist Landon Redd, who, according to his Instagram bio, works at Ink’d Dreamz Tattoo Shop. Per Google, it looks like the tattoo and piercing spot is located in Rockingham County, North Carolina.

Redd posted two IG reels of the Louis Vuitton face tattoos. The first, which has 1.3 million plays as of this writing, shows the artist’s client getting his eyebrows tattooed with the brand’s logo. It seems that he already has the LV motif tattooed as a beard and in between his eyebrows.

In a second video, the client is shown after getting the brand’s motif tattooed across his forehead like a headband.
It seems the love for Louis Vuitton runs deep for the client. The clips had people wondering why the man chose these tattoos and why the artist didn’t stop his client from getting them done.

New Florida Bill To Consider Defamation If Accused of Racism, Sexism, Homophobia and Transphobia
Florida’s potential new law may consider accusations of racism, sexism, homophobia, or transphobia as defamation, sparking concerns about freedom of speech in the state.
Senate Bill 1780, introduced on Friday, aims to simplify the process for individuals to sue for defamation, focusing on “Defamation, False Light, and Unauthorized Publication of Name or Likeness.”

According to the measure, “an allegation that the plaintiff has discriminated against another person or group because of their race, sex, sexual orientation, or gender identity constitutes defamation per se.”
The proposed law implies that even if these accusations are untrue, they would be automatically deemed defamatory.
SB 1780 proposes removing the “actual malice” requirement in defamation suits for discrimination accusations, based on the 1964 U.S. Supreme Court case New York Times vs. Sullivan.

It also seeks to streamline the process for inferring actual malice following a discrimination claim.
In cases involving homophobia or transphobia accusations, defendants facing defamation charges cannot use the plaintiff’s religious or scientific beliefs as a defense. If found liable, the defendant may face a minimum fine of $35,000.

Similar to Florida House Bill 757, SB 1780 aims to redefine “public figure” in defamation suits, excluding non-elected or appointed public employees and individuals who gained notoriety by defending themselves publicly, giving interviews, or becoming viral online. The bill extends to statements made in print, television, and social media.

Additionally, The bill eliminates privileges for journalists, including the protection of source anonymity. It deems statements from anonymous sources “presumptively false,” potentially making journalists susceptible to lawsuits.

Six People Missing in St. Louis Area, Suspected Cult Involvement Raises Concerns

Police are puzzled by six people who vanished from a home near St. Louis in August. They suspect a cult is involved. The missing are Naaman Williams, Gerielle German and her young son Ashton, Mikayla Thompson, Ma’Kayla Wickerson, and her young daughter Malaiyah. They lived together in Berkeley, Missouri.

Berkeley police Major Steve Runge believes four adults were part of a cult led by Rashad Jamal, a convicted child molester now in prison. Jamal, known for his online spiritual teachings, denies being a cult leader.

The adults, believed to be cult members, changed their names, disconnected from family, quit jobs, and showed other unusual behaviors. They were last seen at a hotel and haven’t been heard from since.
Wickerson’s mother, Cartisha Morgan, is worried. She thinks her daughter, who moved out last year and stopped contacting her in March, was vulnerable to the cult. Morgan hopes her daughter and granddaughter return safely.
