Emilia Clarke and Regina Hall spent the TV season playing characters who break through the boys’ club. Clarke, on HBO’s “Game of Thrones,” was Daenerys, the dragon queen whose will to power has brought her on an eight-season journey to the heart of the action in Westeros. Hall, a TV veteran, infiltrates a different center of power on Showtime’s comedy “Black Monday,” as the lone woman in a 1980s Wall Street firm.
Regina Hall: It’s so good to meet you. Because I’m a rare person who, prior to this, had not seen “Game of Thrones.”
Emilia Clarke: Not a rare person at all.
RH: Well, I’m rare amongst my friends.
EC: OK. Not rare amongst mine.
RH: Tell your friends they’re missing out. How did you feel about that being the first role that you tackled?
EC: I was just so happy to be employed. It was my first job. I knew that being in an HBO show was amazing, but more than anything, I knew that having a regular paycheck that wasn’t from waiting tables was also amazing.
RH: I was a waitress. I had a degree in journalism — I had a master’s in journalism — but I was waitressing after I finished grad school.
EC: Yeah. You learn life skills there. I feel empowered with female life skills. It’s only the last few seasons of the show where I’ve allowed myself to indulge, ever so slightly, in “Oh, you got really lucky.” As opposed to “Don’t mess it up.” Now I’m able to fully love the textures and the feeling of playing Daenerys.
What was it like filming “Black Monday”? What was it like stepping into ’80s shoes and shoulder pads and the hair and everything?
RH: The first thing I start with is the hair. Everybody has different points of entry. Eighties fashion is quite interesting, but I gained 10 pounds. Nothing really has to fit. It’s all sort of boxy.
EC: Being around such a male-dominated world, did it change how you carried yourself?
RH: Now we’re in a different movement, but I felt like — I always feel like — Dawn uses her femininity and her breasts.
EC: And that’s armor too.
RH: You are literally in armor.
EC: Michele Clapton, who designs the costumes, is an absolute living god. I will never look as good. But it’s all corsets. It’s all sewn in. She doesn’t believe in zips. Which is great. It’s just not great when you’re like, I need to wrap. You’ll see me with the scissors trying to cut out of it, being like, “I’m done. I’m so tired.”
RH: I love the hair.
EC: In the last season, it was five people’s worth of hair. There’s a couple of scenes where in between each take, I can’t even hold my head up.
RH: It’s crazy because all those details matter.
EC: Completely. I love doing a lot of research. That’s one of my favorite things. Obviously, “Game of Thrones,” the research was just read the books. For you, this is a real moment in time.
RH: I love to do research too. I met one black woman who was a trader back in the ’80s. She was the only one! They really are that rowdy and scandalous. I liked that.
EC: Was there a moment in your life when you enjoyed a good time?
RH: Never to that degree.
EC: No, of course not.
RH: Did you?
EC: No. I literally started “Game of Thrones,” and that was pretty much it. I missed out on all of it because the show happened throughout all of my 20s, which is when you should be wild.
RH: Yeah, that is when you should do it.

Kawhi Leonard and the Toronto Raptors captured Canada's first NBA championship with their most remarkable road win yet in the franchise's NBA Finals debut, outlasting the battered and depleted two-time defending champion Golden State Warriors 114-110 on Thursday night in a Game 6 for the ages that spoiled a sensational send-off at Oracle Arena. Despite a strong opening Warriors lineup, the Raptors eked out a three-point lead by the end of the first half, and the Warriors couldn’t manage to pull out a victory in the hard-fought contest.
Stephen Curry missed a contested 3-pointer in the waning moments before Golden State called a timeout it didn't have, giving Leonard a technical free throw with 0.9 seconds left to seal it. Leonard then got behind Andre Iguodala for a layup as the buzzer sounded, but it went to review and the basket was called off before Leonard's two free throws. That only delayed the celebration for a moment.
Curry walked away slowly, hands on his head on a night Splash Brother Klay Thompson suffered a left knee injury and departed with 30 points.
Leonard scored 22 and Kyle Lowry had 26 points, 10 assists and seven rebounds.
The Warriors — and fans — were hoping for a third championship in a row before the franchise moves to the Chase Center in San Francisco for the start of the 2019-2020 season.
The Raptors’ win marks the first time that a team outside the U.S. has taken home the NBA trophy.

White House Press Secretary Sarah Huckabee Sanders Is Leaving her Post in The Trump Administration!
Trump confirmed Sanders’ departure in tweets on Thursday, saying the press secretary would be leaving her post by the end of the month and returning to her home state of Arkansas. The president hinted that Sanders might be eying a run for governor.
She is a very special person with extraordinary talents, who has done an incredible job! I hope she decides to run for Governor of Arkansas - she would be fantastic. Sarah, thank you for a job well done!
In remarks delivered during an unrelated White House event on Thursday, Sanders said she would miss working for Trump but that she planned to spend more time with her three children.
“It’s truly been something that I will treasure forever. It’s the greatest job I’ve ever had. I’ve loved every minute, even the hard minutes,” Sanders said.
Trump also spoke at the event and reiterated his hope that Sanders would run for governor.
“If we can get her to run for the governor of Arkansas, I think she’d do very well. I keep trying to get her to do that,” the president said.
Sanders’ departure came about two months after special counsel Robert Mueller’s report that said she lied to reporters in 2017 about the circumstances surrounding James Comey’s ouster as FBI director.
The press secretary told reporters on May 10, 2017, that Trump fired Comey after Deputy Attorney General Rod Rosenstein recommended he do so. But Mueller’s report released April 18 said “substantial evidence” indicates Trump fired Comey for refusing to publicly state that the president wasn’t personally being investigated. Sanders also falsely claimed during that news conference that FBI employees “lost confidence” in Comey, and later admitted to the special counsel’s office that her remark was fabricated.
Trump’s White House has had a continually combative relationship with the press. The White House temporarily revoked press credentials for CNN reporter Jim Acosta, who has frequently sparred with Trump and Sanders at news conferences.
To defend the revocation, Sanders tweeted a video from right-wing conspiracy website Infowars, which appeared to be doctored to purportedly show Acosta assaulting the White House intern in charge of handing reporters the microphone to ask Trump questions during a news conference.
Journalists and media advocacy organizations condemned the decision and fabricated justification, part of a pattern of Trump and administration officials undermining the free press.
The administration has also significantly cut back on press briefings. In a January tweet, Trump said he had told Sanders “not to bother” with briefings anymore because “the press covers her so rudely & inaccurately.”
By the time Trump announced the press secretary’s departure, it had been 94 days since Sanders’ last press briefing.
There were rumors last year that Sanders would leave the White House. In June 2018, CBS News reported that she “has told friends that she plans to leave the administration at the end of the year.” In a tweet, Sanders pushed back on the report but did not deny it.
By July 2018, then-White House Deputy Chief of Staff for Communications Bill Shine had begun searching for Sanders’ possible replacement, according to Politico, which reported that White House staffers believed Sanders would leave sometime after the midterm elections in November.
At the time, Shine denied the report and Sanders declined to comment. Shine has since resigned from his position.
Sanders stepped into the role after serving as Trump’s principal deputy press secretary. Her predecessor, Sean Spicer, resigned in July of 2017 over the hiring of then-communications director Anthony Scaramucci, the final straw in a tenure beset with controversies.
Throughout her time in the post, Sanders adopted Trump’s tactic of attacking the media. She regularly became combative with reporters, lecturing them about negative coverage and mistakes — while repeatedly providing false information and shifting explanations, as well as defending the president’s lies and falsehoods.
Sanders developed a reputation as one of Trump’s most ardent defenders, with her press briefings often seen as playing to “an audience of one.”
However, at least one of her bizarre defenses reportedly drew Trump’s ire.
Following an incident at the NATO summit in July 2018, Sanders memorably told The Washington Post that then-chief of staff John Kelly ― seen grimacing while Trump ranted about U.S. ally Germany ― was upset about being offered “only pastries and cheese” instead of a full breakfast.
Vanity Fair cited a source who claimed that the president “was annoyed” at “the slim breakfast menu” explanation.
“He thought that was cheesy and lame. Trump wants fighters, not jokers,” the source said, according to Vanity Fair.
Before joining Trump’s presidential campaign in 2016, Sanders worked for a number of Republican campaigns, including that of her father, former Arkansas Gov. Mike Huckabee (R). GOOD RIDDANCE!

#Empire: Taraji Henson was ‘Miserable’ while filming ‘Person of Interest’!
speaking out about her own struggles, and apparently, many of them stem from acting gigs she’s had over the years.
During an interview with Variety, Taraji opened up about her departure from CBS’s Person of Interest and says she was “miserable” toward the end of filming.
“I had to leave a show before, and it was the most money I’d ever seen in my life, and I was so miserable. It was stealing my joy. I just remember praying to God: ‘God, I’m not happy creatively,’” she said. “[T]he next day, I called the producer. He got it. And I walked away, not even knowing where I was going.”
Where she ended up was performing at the Pasadena Playhouse’s world premiere of the play Above the Fold. While it was a major downgrade in pay, it more than paid off for Henson.
“I didn’t care about who was coming to the theater, executives or casting directors. It was about Taraji falling back in love with this craft,” she explained. “Fox had to woo me to do Empire. I wouldn’t read the script. I was done with television.”
In November 2013, Taraji Henson recalled when she found out her character, NYPD Detective Joss Carter, would be killed off the show. “We always knew it was going to happen, so it wasn’t a surprise,” she told TVLine. “It was just about when. But, yeah, I found out on Valentine’s Day.”

#HipHopNews: VH1 Announces “Girls Cruise” Series Featuring Lil Kim, Mya & Chilli
Lil Kim is adding executive producer to her list of credentials. The veteran MC will serve as an EP and star in VH1’s upcoming reality series Girls Cruise.
On Monday (June 10), the network shared a preview of the show featuring Kim, TLC’s Chilli, Mya and more. The teaser displays the Queen Bee as the captain of a yacht. She’s seen steering the watercraft while her hit record “The Jump Off” plays in the background.
VH1 provided the following description for the show: “As they travel through the Caribbean, the crew hits the high seas on an epic journey filled with hilarious adventures, emotional breakthroughs and spicy romances as they cultivate bonds and unapologetically live their best lives.”
The series also includes Wild N’ Out stars B. Simone and Pretty Vee along with their friends Tiffany and Char.

While fans look forward to Kim’s new TV show, they’re also anticipating her next solo album, which has been delayed by her record company Entertainment One. The LP will be her first studio album since 2005’s The Naked Truth.

'Shark Tank' star Barbara Corcoran's brother is 7th American tourist to have died in the Dominican Republic
Shark Tank star and real estate mogul Barbara Corcoran's brother, John Corcoran, died of an alleged heart attack in April while vacationing in the Dominican Republic. A representative for Corcoran confirmed the news of his death to NBC News.
John's death, who Barbara, one of ten siblings, described as her "favorite brother" to TMZ, is not believed to be related to the recent deaths of six American tourists who have died while on vacation in the Caribbean nation.
John was 60 years old and retired, but previously owned Statewide Roofing and Siding in Edgewater, N.J.
According to TMZ, John, who visited the Dominican Republic frequently, was waiting for his girlfriend to join him on the vacation when a friend discovered his body in a hotel suite. While no autopsy was performed, Barbara was informed that the cause of death was a heart attack.
The news of John's death comes in the wake of suspicious deaths of Americans in Dominican Republic hotels starting in June 2018. Two Americans died at the Hard Rock Hotel & Casino Punta Cana while four have died at various Bahia Principe resorts. It is unclear at which resort John was staying.
Three of the deaths were due to heart attacks, while one also lists an accumulation of fluid in the lungs, pulmonary edema, as a cause of death. A newly engaged couple from Maryland were found dead in the room in May, with the cause of death listed as respiratory failure and pulmonary edema.
The Dominican Republic's tourism minister, Francisco Javier García told the New York Times that the deaths are "isolated incidents," and that the nation is safe for tourists. Regardless, both Dominican authorities and the FBI are investigating the deaths.
"John Corcoran passed away at the end of April in the DR from what is believed to be natural causes," Emily Burke, Barbara's assistant, told Fox News. "Barbara would like to respect the privacy of his children and is not releasing any other information at this time."
Cuba Gooding Jr., Accused of Groping Woman in N.Y.C. Bar, Turns Himself in to Police and a 2nd Woman now accuses him of assault!
Cuba Gooding Jr. turned himself in to the New York Police Department on Thursday, the NYPD confirms, following allegations that he groped a woman at a rooftop bar in Manhattan over the weekend.
NYPD detective Martin Brown says he does not yet know what Gooding will be charged with.
According to the New York Times, a woman told police that the 51-year-old Oscar-winning actor touched her breasts at the Magic Hour Rooftop Bar and Lounge on 7th Avenue in Manhattan.
The woman said Gooding was “highly intoxicated” and explained that they got into an argument after he inappropriately touched her and she resisted, according to Page Six.
Their altercation had to be broken up by the venue’s security, according to the outlet.
Videos shared by TMZ showed Gooding at the Magic Hour dancing wildly and singing into a microphone that night.
Witnesses at the club told Page Six that Gooding was in a joyful mood and was socializing with other club goers.
“He was super good … and with everyone,” the witness told the outlet.
He was also seen on surveillance cameras leaving the club later in the night, according to Page Six.
A law enforcement official told the Times that investigators found security camera footage that allegedly verified the woman’s allegations.
The woman is a New York University student, the Times reports.
Gooding’s attorney Mark J. Heller says he has viewed surveillance footage of the “entire event” and “there was not a drop of criminal conduct or inappropriate activity on his part.”
“I know the video, which covered the entire evening, shows absolutely no conduct or any inappropriateness on Cuba’s part,” he tells PEOPLE. “And I am frankly shocked the prosecutor would consider a case like this.”
Heller says he plans to “vigorously defend” the Boyz n the Hood and Jerry Maguire actor.
“I have known Cuba for almost 30 years and his conduct towards women is always respectful,” he says. “He respects women and he would never engage in that type of activity.”
In a video posted by TMZ, Gooding denied any inappropriate conduct and said he trusts the legal system.
Another woman has come forward with claims that Cuba Gooding Jr. sexually accosted her but it is unclear when the alleged incident occured.
The second accuser claims that the "Jerry Maguire" grabbed her buttocks at a restaurant in Midtown, reports The New York Daily News. The outlet added that depending on when the incident occured, he might not be charged for the incident if it happened beyond the five-year statute of limitations for this type of sexual assault.
Gooding Jr. was accused earlier this week of grabbing a woman's breast at the rooftop bar Magic Hour. He is expected to speak with detectives from the NYPD Special Victims Division on Thursday.
The woman told police Gooding Jr. was "highly intoxicated" at the time, reports Page Six, and the two got into an argument after the alleged incident that had to be broken up by security.
The alleged victim filed a report with the NYPD for forcible touching and the police are looking to speak with Gooding Jr.

Congrats to Cassie and her boyfriend Alex Fine! The two will be welcoming a bundle of joy soon. They confirmed rumors that Cassie is pregnant via Instagram.
Cassie shared two photos of her and Fine riding in a car and wrote,

Historic St Louis Blues Stanley Cup Win Scores Highest NHL Overnight Rating Ever
Wednesday’s Game 7 of the Stanley Cup Finals handed Lord Stanley’s trophy to the St. Louis Blues, and record NHL ratings to NBC.
The home loss for the Boston Bruins scored a 6.20 rating in Nielsen’s 56 metered markets. That’s the highest overnight number in recorded NHL history, which dates back to 1994.
The previous record-holder was 2010’s Stanley Cup Finals-clinching Game 6 when Blackhawks-Flyers earned a 5.84 overnight rating. Last night beat that by 6%.
Wednesday topped the most recent Stanley Cup Final Game 7 — 2011’s Bruins-Canucks (5.72) — by 8%.
You would think this all meant last night was a close game, but it really wasn’t. The overnight rating peaked with a 7.25 from 10:15 p.m. ET to 10:30 p.m. ET when the Blues added to their lead on the way to a 4-1 victory.
Helping out was the disappointed-but-large Boston market and the fact that this was St. Louis’ first Stanley Cup victory.
Boston delivered a 30.2 local rating/48 share. That’s big, but we haven’t even gotten to the winning team yet.
The St. Louis market delivered a 41.8 local rating/60 share, meaning six out of every 10 households in the market that were watching television at the time were tuned into Game 7.
Final Nielsen ratings — including a total-viewer tally — will be released later on Thursday.

In her January 31, 2019 child support battle deposition only obtained by Radar, Craig, 27, testified Thompson, 28, gave her $112,000 soon after she purchased her Los Angeles home in November 2017.
When asked by Thompson’s attorney, Peter Lauzon, why she believes her baby daddy gave her that money, Craig replied, “Well, if we really want to put this on here, that was part of a bribe.”
When pressed further by Lauzon about the alleged bribe, Craig said in her deposition, “That he [Thompson] would help me if I wasn’t, like, dating anybody or talking to anybody, and that I would have to come see him.”
When asked what she did with the money and whether she accepted a bribe, Craig said she did so for her son’s sake and to also pay loans to her mother and sister, who helped her with the financing for her home.
Central Park Five Prosecutor Elizabeth Lederer Resigns As Columbia Law School Professor After Black Student Protest
Manhattan Assistant District Attorney Elizabeth Lederer, the prosecutor who played a significant role in convicting the Central Park Five, has resigned from Columbia Law School.
Lederer was a part-time professor until Wednesday after a group of black students protested to have her removed.
Since the release of “When They See Us,” the controversy of the Central Park Five conviction has been reignited, and people are looking for justice to be served for those who put them away.
“The mini-series has reignited a painful—and vital—national conversation about race, identity, and criminal justice. I am deeply committed to fostering a learning environment that furthers this important and ongoing dialogue, one that draws upon the lived experiences of all members of our community and actively confronts the most difficult issues of our time,” Dean Gillian Lester told Bloomberg News.
The Black Law Student Association called Lederer’s actions racist and demanded that she be fired. The association also asked for Columbia Law School to revamp the curriculum in a letter.
“Columbia Law School should fire Elizabeth Lederer but that is just a start,” the letter reads. “The school needs to address the racism in how the law is taught.”

BET Networks announced today that Mary J. Blige will be this year’s recipient of the Lifetime Achievement Award at the 2019 BET Awards.

Over the weekend, stars like Halle Berry and Jaime King attended the 5B premiere held during L.A. Pride.
5B will be released in select theaters on Friday, June 14.
Kevin Durant Undergoes Successful Achilles Surgery
Golden State Warriors star, Kevin Durant, told fans he's "hurting deeply," but admits rupturing his Achilles is "just the way things go."
The NBA star shared a photo from his hospital bed on Wednesday and made the announcement, "I did rupture my Achilles," adding that, "Surgery was today and it was a success, EASY MONEY."
KD explained that, "I'm hurting deeply, but I'm OK. Basketball is my biggest love and I wanted to be out there that night because that’s what I do. I wanted to help my teammates on our quest for the three peat."
Chris Brown Shades Karrueche Tran's Boyfriend Victor Cruz In His Instagram Comments
Chris Brown took to Instagram to post some comments on former NFL star Victor Cruz‘s account. Victor is dating Chris‘ ex-girlfriend, Karrueche Tran.\
“No shade boo, BUT PLEAS STLYE HIM. He look like he shopping off the manikin and trying to bargain wit the sales manager. Retired wrestler spanks. IM F*CKING AROUND … good bless,” Chris wrote on a photo Victor posted of him with Karrueche. “No shade … Just minor.”
“Nothing bad or major. UPGRADE HIM SIS,” he continued. “I’ll take him around to style him. NOT HATE. He just need some game spirit.”
“Peace love and joy. JUST PLEASE UPGRADE YA MAN BOO,” Chris added. He deleted the comments, but you can see them on the Shade Room Instagram.
Chris Brown and Karrueche Tran split back in 2015. The first photos we have of Victor Cruz and Karrueche together are from late 2017.
