#RHOA: Cynthia Bailey Reveals She Lost 36 Lbs. Using Weight-Loss Medication
“The Real Housewives of Atlanta” alum Cynthia Bailey is dropping the pounds!
During an episode of her “Humblebrag” podcast with Crystal Kung Minkoff, Bailey revealed that she has lost 36 pounds.
She shared, “It’s been a year and I was 206 pounds, naked, without the wig on, no lashes on, ’cause I was peeling off everything to see if it was 206 pounds… and it was. No leg hair, literally just… in my rawest state.”

While she could “carry” excess weight “pretty well,” Cynthia noted that the weight “showed up” in unflattering areas.
She commented, “Now I’m down to 170. My goal was 160, which I think is good. I think maybe 8 more pounds and I’m good. And that’s just to have a little wiggle room… I can fit in my stuff, most of my stuff.”

According to Cynthia, her weight-loss transformation took “over a year” with the help of Weight Watchers and GLP-1.
She kept it real, saying, “Just to be completely transparent, I started with the GLP-1 and I’m on Wegovy, and I’ve been doing that consistently, probably for about three months now. I went up to the highest dosage they’ll let me have, which is, like, 2.5… but that’s good for me. I never really get nauseous unless I eat too much… but I would feel like that even if I wasn’t on the shot.”

Cynthia moved over to a GLP-1 because she wanted to shed more weight.
She explained, “As soon as I started Weight Watchers, I lost 15 pounds in a month. It was amazing. Then it started to slow down. But anyway, I’m really happy. I feel really good. I did a bunch of [red] carpets this week and I feel confident again.”

Bailey also stressed the importance of lifestyle changes, like smaller portions, to maintain her weight.
She said, “I actually do feel like this is maintainable for me now that I understand how to… You know, if I roll up to Taco Bell every now and then, I can do that because … it was a lifestyle change for me. I honestly try to eat something every three hours and I pretty much make small plates.”

#MusicNews: British R&B Sensation Elmiene Is Reclaiming R&B’s Heart, One Note At A Time

Elmiene finally unpacked the last box in his new Los Angeles home—a sunlit space that feels worlds away from the gray skies of England. The move, decided upon on his 24th birthday and finalized just weeks ago, marks the latest chapter for the 24-year-old R&B singer born in Frankfurt, raised in Oxford, sharpened in London, and now intent on bringing his American-inflected strain of British soul stateside.

His résumé already reads like a transatlantic blur. The 2025 project Heat The Streets cemented him as one of the most compelling new voices in contemporary R&B. Now, with his debut studio album Sounds for Someone slated for March 27, he’s positioning himself not just as a singer but as a songwriter in the classic sense.

But before the studio sessions with heavyweights and the streaming milestones, Elmiene jokes that he was, simply, “a bum.” As a teenager, his guiding philosophy was “minimum effort for moderate success.” Video games and comic books consumed his world; ambition did not. Music changed that. The first time he realized he was good at something—and wanted to work at it—he understood he wasn’t lazy, just misplaced. Passion had finally found him.

The pivot happened while he was studying at the Arts University Bournemouth in South England. A housemate who filmed acoustic performances for a project convinced him to post a video online. One clip went viral—almost against his will—and suddenly, the introspective student in Bournemouth had an audience.

Elmiene’s influences reveal the architecture of his sound. The lush experimentation of the Soulquarians, especially D’Angelo—whom he calls his hero—shifted music from background noise to spiritual practice. Hearing “Lady” was transformative; Voodoo became scripture. Add Prince’s Sign o’ the Times and the songwriting precision of Babyface, and you get what he calls his creative triangle: songwriting craft, sonic range, and emotional depth. One of the first songs he ever wrote, “Golden,” sparked the early momentum that carried him forward.

His stage presence, however, needed no incubation. From his first performance, he says felt at home—commanding, loose, determined to give audiences a good time regardless of expectations. “I ain’t got that sexy shit down like Lucky Daye does,” Elmiene jokes in a complementary fashion. “It’s like I got my own pockets that I can tap into.” Experience sharpened him, but he insists instinct was always there.

Then came Heat The Streets and its deluxe version Heat The Streets Some Mo’. Much of it was written in a single week, often alongside producer Jeff Gritty, with sessions built around joyful emulation. “Useless,” born from an offhand joke about showering with his clothes on, captured the playful irreverence of those sessions. The project balanced British cynicism—“we’re pretty miserable back home,” Elmiene shrugs—with American warmth, hinting at the cross-Atlantic identity he was forming.

Since then, sessions in Los Angeles have reshaped his palette. Raphael Saadiq—the album’s sole feature and a childhood hero turned mentor—produced a track and offered hard-earned wisdom about health and longevity. Sampha produced “Savior.” Salaam Remi contributed to “I Want In,” while early singles “Honor” and “I Want In” signal the album’s emotional terrain.

No I.D., who calls himself “the editor,” provided the final glue—identifying not a lack of songs, but a missing unifying sound.
Sounds for Someone, a title inspired by Stevie Wonder’s Songs in the Key of Life, is deeply personal. The album centers on his father—grief, regret, and reconciliation, which form its core mission. For the first time, he allowed himself to write pop songs without sanding down their sheen. “That was hard to do,” Elmiene admits.

“Before, whenever I felt like I was writing songs that I felt were too pop or, for lack of a better word, too white, I suppose, I would curve the edge a little bit. Maybe make the production more alternative, just in a way that I could feel comfortable about it and make it live more in my universe.” Still, his standard remains strict: if a song doesn’t hold up with just voice and keys, it isn’t finished.

Elmiene measures success differently now. If he’s allowed to keep writing albums—if he can wake up and do the thing he loves—he considers himself already made. However, above all, he wants honesty. Soul, he believes, could use more of it. Everything else, from Frankfurt to L.A., is just a bonus.

#HipHopNews: Lawsuit Against Lauryn Hill Dropped By Pras Before His 14-Year Prison Sentence
Fugees member Pras Michel has officially dropped his lawsuit against former bandmate Lauryn Hill just weeks before he is scheduled to begin serving a federal prison sentence later this month.

According to court documents cited by Billboard, attorneys representing both Michel and Hill filed a motion on Wednesday confirming that the lawsuit has been dismissed. The filing states that the case was “dismissed without prejudice, with each party to bear his, her or its own expenses, costs, and attorney’s fees.” Because the dismissal was filed without prejudice, Michel retains the legal right to refile the claims at a later date if he chooses.

Michel originally filed the lawsuit in October 2024, accusing Hill of gross mismanagement and alleging that she defrauded him during business dealings connected to the Fugees’ reunion performances. The complaint also claimed that Hill exploited Michel’s ongoing legal troubles to pressure him into participating in a Fugees reunion tour.

According to the filing, Michel alleged that Hill abruptly ended the group’s 2023 tour early, which he described as a calculated move intended to benefit her financially. He also accused Hill of canceling the 2024 anniversary tour celebrating her landmark album The Miseducation of Lauryn Hill. The lawsuit further argued that Hill’s reputation for arriving late to performances and her alleged lack of transparency surrounding the tour’s financial management caused him significant financial losses.

Michel sought compensation for lost income as well as punitive damages and legal costs. The complaint also claimed that Hill and her touring company MLH failed to pay certain expenses connected to the 2023 tour, including hotel accommodations, credit card bills, and payments owed to musicians and crew members. According to the lawsuit, Hill and her company maintained full control over the tour’s business operations, which Michel argued created a lack of transparency regarding how the tour’s finances were handled.

Hill strongly denied the allegations when the lawsuit was first filed. In a statement at the time, she described the claims as baseless and filled with false accusations.

“I’ve been silent and pushing through because I understood that Pras was under duress because of his legal battles and that this was perhaps affecting his judgment, state of mind, and character,” Hill said in response to the lawsuit. “I was not in Pras’ life when he decided to make the unfortunate decision that led to his current legal troubles. I did not advise that he make that decision and therefore am in no way responsible for his decision and its consequences, though I have taken it upon myself to help.”

Neither Michel nor Hill’s legal teams publicly explained why the lawsuit was dropped.

Michel is scheduled to begin serving a 14 year federal prison sentence on March 30. In November 2025, he was convicted of multiple charges tied to criminal conspiracy and illegal foreign lobbying. Prosecutors argued that Michel played a role in funneling money from Malaysian businessman Low Taek Jho into former President Barack Obama’s 2012 reelection campaign.

The case went to trial in 2023, where Michel was found guilty on ten counts including conspiracy, concealment of material facts, falsifying records, witness tampering, and acting as an unregistered agent of a foreign government.

Michel is currently appealing the conviction and has asked the court to allow him to remain free while the appeal process moves forward.

KiKi Shepard, the longtime to-host of Showtime at the Apollo, has died at 74. She suffered a massive heart attack in Los Angeles on Monday, according to her representative, LaShirl Smith. Her death was reported as sudden and unexpected. (TMZ)

Born Chiquita Renee Shepard in Tyler, Texas, Shepard built a career that stretched across television, film, theater and dance. #BoxOfficeNews: Box Office ‘Hoppers’ Stays No. 1 at $28.5M, ‘Reminders of Him’ Opens to Romantic $18.3M
Pixar looks to have an original hit on its hands as Hoppers easily stayed No. 1 at the domestic box office, declining a narrow 37 percent to $28.5 million in its second outing. The news was also good overseas, where it gathered up another $31 million for an early foreign total of $77.5 million and $164.7 globally to become the top-grossing animated film of the year so far.

Hoppers is benefiting from Pixar’s return to winning over both families and general audiences, including younger adults, a coveted demo known for being frequent moviegoers. It has also won over both reviewers and moviegoers in a big way; its Rotten Tomatoes critics’ score is 93 percent, virtually on par with an audience score of 94 percent.

Last weekend, Hoppers delivered a key win for the Disney-owned Pixar with a domestic opening of $46 million and $88 million globally, the biggest launch for any Hollywood original animated title since Pixar’s Coco nearly a decade ago in 2017.

Hollywood studios — and specifically Universal — making movie adaptations of Colleen Hoover‘s novels also received good news as Reminders of Him came in ahead of expectations with $18.3 million, thanks to successfully romancing females of all ages. More than 60 percent of ticket buyers were under the age of 35, while females bought up more than 80 percent of all tickets. While the film received a B Cinemascore, the audience score on RT is a far more promising 89 percent. PostTrak’s exit polls are also strong.

Overseas, Reminders of Him opened to $10 million in its first raft of markets for an early global total of $28.1 million.
Despite becoming a global box office sensation, the 2024 adaptation of Hoover’s It Ends With Us has more recently been at the center of a heated legal battle between Blake Lively and Justin Baldoni that overshadowed the movie’s performance and raised questions about how future adaptations would fare. Last year, Paramount’s adaptation of her novel Regretting You may have been ultimately profitable but failed to break out after opening to a meek $13 million domestically.

A24’s micro-budgeted Undertone opened in third place with $9.3 million, slightly ahead of expectations. However, the film’s fate is uncertain after receiving disappointing audience scores; its current audience ranking on Rotten Tomatoes is a dismal 52 percent. Critics appear to like it far more, based on its 76 percent RT score.

Spyglass and Paramount’s holdover Scream 7 followed in fourth place with $8.4 million in its third outing. The latest installment in the iconic slasher franchise set another record Friday at the domestic box office when crossing the $100 million mark in its 15th day in release, a new franchise best (it took Scream VI 28 days). The film’s worldwide total through Sunday is $176.9 million, including $106.5 million in North America.

Sony Pictures Animation’s GOAT is also hanging in there, despite the entry of Hoppers. The pic rounded out the top five with $4.7 million for a domestic total of $90.6 million and $162.8 million globally.
Elsewhere, Maggie Gyllenhaal’s The Bride! continues to get battered at the box office in its sophomore outing, falling a steep 70 percent to $2.1 million domestically after opening in bomb territory last weekend with $7.3 million, less than double what was expected. A big part of the reason? Mediocre reception from both critics and audiences. Globally, The Bride! has earned $21 million to date.

While Gyllenhaal’s second-directorial effort may have been dumped at the altar, Warner Bros.’ studio heads Michael De Luca and Pamela Abdy continue to be widely praised for taking bold, original swings that resulted in far more hits than misses over the past year. At the March 15 Oscar ceremony, they have two films in the best picture race, Ryan Coogler’s Sinners and Paul Thomas Anderson’s One Battle After Another (both are considered the two leading candidates.) And at the early 2026 box office, Emerald Fennell’s edgy Wuthering Heights adaptation recently crossed the $200 million mark globally after three weekends. All told, the duo’s slate picked up a total of 30 Oscar nominations, including for New Line’s Weapons. The victory comes at a bittersweet time for the storied studio as executives and thousands of employees face an uncertain future once David Ellison’s Paramount-Skydance closes his deal to buy Warner Bros. Discovery.

As fate would have it, Focus Features’ best picture nominee Hamnet will cross the $100 million mark at the global box office on Oscar Sunday. The film, produced by Sam Mendes’ London-based production company in tandem with Steven Spielberg‘s Amblin, has earned the lion’s share of its earnings overseas, or north of $73 million. Neon’s Sentimental Value and The Secret Agent also saw their U.S. grosses grow over the weekend in advance of the Academy Awards — both are non-English-language films competing in multiple categories, including best picture and best international feature — to $5.4 million and $4.3 million, respectively.

Even while Oscar telecast ratings have declined, studios generally avoid opening event titles on the weekend of the show. Not that it wasn’t a good weekend in terms of traffic: total revenue clocked in at an estimated $84 million, up 54 percent over the same frame last year, while year-to-date domestic revenue hit $1.41 billion, a year-over-year gain of 15.5 percent, per Comscore.

Teyana Taylor reacts to criticism of enthusiastic Oscars reaction: 'Like holy water touching a demon'

Teyana Taylor is responding to those who criticized her enthusiastic reaction to Amy Madigan winning the Best Supporting Actress Oscar over her.
"The world holds so much misery that miserable hearts forget the face of happiness," the One Battle After Another actress wrote on social media.

In an interview after receiving her Academy Award, Madigan had nothing but love for Taylor.
Teyana Taylor is responding to criticism over celebrating a fellow actress' Oscar win.
After a clip of Taylor reacting to Amy Madigan's win at the Academy Awards on Sunday night went viral, the One Battle After Another star is speaking out about her excitement. In the video, after Madigan's name is called, Taylor immediately stands up to applaud the actress who won her first Oscar at age 75, 40 years after her first nomination.

"The world holds so much misery that miserable hearts forget the face of happiness," Taylor began.
"They grow comfortable being sore losers, so when they see real sportsmanship it unsettles them! like holy water touching a demon. Because clapping for someone else’s victory requires something many people never learned…how to win with grace & pure joy, and how to lose with grace, chin up & dignity."
Madigan, who won for Weapons, and Taylor were both up for the Best Actress in a Supporting Role Oscar, alongside Elle Fanning for Sentimental Value, Inga Ibsdotter Lilleaas for Sentimental Value, and Wunmi Mosaku for Sinners.

"This is great!" Madigan taking the stage at the Dolby Theatre, all smiles holding her golden statuette. "First and foremost, I just have to thank Zach Cregger, our writer and director. He just wrote a dream part and let me grab it by the throat, and we had a ball!"

Madigan also gave a shout-out to her fellow nominees before thanking her husband Ed Harris. "Most of all, I want to thank my beautiful daughter Lily and her husband," she said. "Most important is my beloved Ed, who's been with me forever, and that's a long ass time. None of this would mean anything if he wasn't by my side. Thank you very much, I'm very overwhelmed."
Madigan was nominated in 1985 for Twice in a Lifetime, making her two nods, 40 years apart, the longest gap between individual nominations for any actress in history.

In an interview with Entertainment Tonight following her win, Madigan had nothing but love for Taylor, gushing about their newfound friendship. "She is the best supporter, the best friend. I did not know her till this awards season and she has just taken me into her group of all the people from One Battle After Another and I I really appreciate it," said Madigan.

"Those are the things that don't always happen and she's the greatest."

Barack Obama to Make TV Comedy Debut in Larry David’s New HBO Show
Barack Obama is heading into one of television’s most uncomfortable places: a Larry David comedy.
But working with a former president didn’t stop David from reminding Obama who was boss.
“I’m president here,” David said, recalling a moment when Obama offered a note on one of his sketches.

David revealed new details about the project—including its title, release date, and sprawling cast—during a SXSW talk in Austin alongside his longtime collaborator Jeff Schaffer, who directs the series.
The HBO sketch series Life, Larry and the Pursuit of Unhappiness: An Almost History of America, is set to premiere on June 26.
The seven-episode show will satirize U.S. history in celebration of the country’s 250th anniversary.

A short clip shown during the SXSW panel previewed the show’s brand of historical absurdity. In the sketch, David witnesses the famous “V-J Day in Times Square” moment, which is depicted by the iconic photograph of a Navy sailor kissing a stranger to celebrate the end of World War II.
Like Curb Your Enthusiasm, the series relies heavily on improvisation, with sketches built around loose outlines rather than traditional scripts. Schaffer described the concept succinctly as “‘Curb’ in costume.”
Obama, whose production company Higher Ground also produces the series, will appear opposite David in one of the sketches.

Schaffer said the former president didn’t hold back from teasing the famously prickly comedian while they worked together.
“He was ragging on [David’s] golf game, ragging on how much sunscreen [he] wear[s],” he said.
But Obama isn’t the only famous face to feature in the series. Each episode will feature roughly four sketches with a rotating cast of actors and comedians, including Curb regulars Jeff Garlin, J.B. Smoove, and Susie Essman, who will play women’s rights pioneer Susan B. Anthony.

Other guest stars will step into historical roles, with Bill Hader and Kathryn Hahn set to portray Abraham and Mary Todd Lincoln, while Jon Hamm and Sean Hayes will appear as the Wright brothers.
Together, the cast will step into some of the most famous moments in American history, with David, inevitably, at the center of the awkwardness.

In other words, American history—Larry David-style.

Texas Rep. Jasmine Crockett Says What She’s Learning About Her Ex-Security Guard K*lled By Dallas SWAT ‘Doesn’t Fit The Person she knows

Texas Congresswoman Jasmine Crockett is addressing the d*ath of a man who once worked as part of her security detail after he was fatally sh*t during a standoff with Dallas police.

Authorities identified the man as 39-year-old Diamon-Mazairre Robinson, who was reportedly operating under the alias “Mike King.” According to investigators, Robinson d*ed Wednesday night after a confrontation with SWAT officers in a hospital parking garage. Police say he barricaded himself inside a vehicle before tear gas was deployed and he allegedly pulled a g*n on officers. Robinson had also been under federal investigation for impersonating law enforcement.

In a statement, Crockett’s office said the security contractor had been hired through an approved vendor that had previously worked with local agencies and Capitol Police.

“The fact that an individual was able to somehow circumvent the vetting processes for something as sensitive as security for members of Congress highlights the loopholes and shortcomings in many of our systems,” the statement reads.

The office added, “We are praying for the friends and family of the man that we knew as Mike King… What we’re now learning about his past doesn’t fit the person we came to know as Mike King.”

Ava DuVernay Introduces ‘My Honey’ As Her Date At The 98th Academy Awards

Ava DuVernay is feeling the love, and she’s excited to share the good news.
At least, the Oscar nominee shared the good news with ESSENCE. While on the red carpet at the 98th annual Academy Awards, she was asked by correspondent Stacy Ike to fill in the blank: “Right now I am proud of myself for __.” She thought for a second and looked to her right at her date, whose hand she held tightly.

“Right now I am proud of myself for…coming to the Oscars with my honey, who I’ve kept hidden for a long time,” she said, adding, “but now he’s here” before breaking into a laugh.
It’s unclear what the name of her “honey” is, but it’s not the first time they’ve been out together. The beauty and her beau made an appearance together the night before the Oscars while at the CHANEL and Charles Finch Annual Pre-Oscar Dinner at the Beverly Hills Hotel.

And, you may have missed it, but she said goodbye to 2025 by sharing a roundup of images of her favorite moments from the year on Threads, and one of them was a photo of herself close to this handsome mystery man.

Jamie Foxx and Will Smith Congratulate Michael B. Jordan for His Oscar Win: 'An Amazing Actor'
Jamie Foxx and Will Smith have offered their congratulations to Michael B. Jordan following his Best Actor win at the Oscars.
“I can barely breathe right now… you were absolutely incredible in this film,” Foxx wrote in a post on Instagram alongside a clip of the moment on Sunday (March 15) when Jordan was announced as the winner for Best Actor in a Leading Role for his dual performance in Ryan Coogler’s Sinners. “An amazing actor, an amazing director — truly all of the above. Tonight we celebrate you: your talent, your mystique, and your incredible passion for the craft.”

The actor/comedian/musician added that he believes that Jordan should have received two Oscars for his roles as twins Smoke and Stack.“Congratulations, my brother,” he wrote. “You’re operating in rare air right now. Celebrate it to the fullest… And trust me, the after-party is going to be crazy.” In another post, he wrote, “Words can’t express how proud I am of you. You deserve this and so much more. Congratulations my brother.”

In an Instagram comment, meanwhile, Will Smith wrote, “CONGRATS, beloved. Makin’ History!”
During his acceptance speech, Jordan gave a shoutout to all six of the Black actors who previously won Oscars for a leading performance.

“I stand here because of the people that came before me,” he said. “Sidney Poitier, Denzel Washington, Halle Berry, Jamie Foxx, Forest Whitaker, Will Smith… To be amongst those giants, amongst those greats, amongst my ancestors, amongst my guys. Thank you, everybody, in this room and everybody at home, for supporting me over my career.

Jordan is now the sixth Black actor to win in the Best Actor in a Leading Role category. Only one Black woman, Halle Berry, has won the award for Best Actress in a Leading Role. In the supporting actor categories, meanwhile, a total of 18 Black actors have picked up a statuette. Only two Black actors—Denzel Washington and Mahershala Ali—have won two Oscars for acting.

Sinners had a big night at the Oscars. The movie was nominated for a record-setting 16 nominations, the most-nominated film in history, and picked up four awards. Coogler got the award for Best Original Screenplay, alongside Ludwig Göransson for Best Original Score, Autumn Durald Arkapaw for Best Cinematography, and Best Actor in a Leading Role for Jordan.

Biggie Smalls’ Daughter Tyanna Wallace Opens ‘Big Poppa’s’ Steakhouse In NYC

T’yanna Wallace is continuing to expand her father’s cultural legacy — this time through food. The entrepreneur and daughter of late rap legend The Notorious B.I.G. has revealed plans to open Big Poppa’s, a Caribbean-infused steakhouse in Midtown Manhattan named after Biggie’s classic track Big Poppa.

Wallace shared the update on social media following a private tasting event previewing the restaurant’s concept and menu. The gathering, held earlier this month in Manhattan, gave invited guests a first look at dishes designed to blend upscale steakhouse staples with Caribbean flavors — a nod to Biggie’s Jamaican heritage through his mother, Voletta Wallace.
Photos from the tasting showed several themed menu items, including a Big Poppa Burger, Brooklyn Strip Steak, jerk-seasoned wings with mango-pineapple glaze, and Caribbean-style stew chicken referencing Biggie’s Bedford-Stuyvesant roots. Other dishes playfully reference the rapper’s career and collaborators, such as a “Lil Ceasar Salad,” inspired by fellow Lil’ Cease.

According to Wallace, the event was designed as a test run for the menu ahead of the restaurant’s official launch. The upcoming venue is expected to open in Midtown Manhattan later in 2026, though the exact address has not yet been announced.

The tasting also drew members of Biggie’s extended circle, including rapper Lil’ Kim and other affiliates from the Brooklyn collective Junior M.A.F.I.A., helping turn the preview into both a culinary showcase and a tribute to the late icon’s legacy.

Fans quickly responded to Wallace’s announcement online, with the post earning thousands of likes and enthusiastic replies. Many supporters praised the venture as another example of how Biggie’s legacy continues to inspire new creative and entrepreneurial projects decades after his death. Some even suggested additional lyric-inspired menu items — including T-bone steak, cheese eggs and grape soda — referencing lines from the rapper’s songs.

Big Poppa’s marks the latest venture for Wallace, who has spent recent years building businesses connected to her father’s brand. In 2018 she launched Notoriouss B.I.G., a women’s streetwear-inspired clothing line that incorporates imagery and references from the rapper’s career. The brand features hoodies, T-shirts and other apparel drawing from Biggie’s Brooklyn roots and iconic visuals.
Since his death in 1997, the legacy of The Notorious B.I.G. has extended well beyond music. The rapper’s catalog remains influential in hip-hop, while films and documentaries — including the biopic Notorious and the Netflix documentary Biggie: I Got a Story to Tell — have continued to introduce his story to new generations of fans.

With Big Poppa’s, Wallace is now bringing that legacy into New York’s dining scene, combining steakhouse tradition with Caribbean flavor and hip-hop history in a concept that pays homage to one of the genre’s most enduring figures.

'RuPaul's Drag Race' Season 1 Star PorkChop Hospitalized & Bed-Bound After Eating Hamburger
A RuPaul’s Drag Race legend is currently recovering after a recent health scare.
Season 1 icon Victoria “PorkChop” Parker, famously known as the first-ever queen eliminated from the competition series, has been hospitalized following a medical emergency.

According to a message shared by Drag Race production company World of Wonder, the performer “has experienced a serious health setback and was hospitalized after eating a hamburger from a major grocery chain, and is now facing a number of ongoing medical challenges.”

Further in the note, it said that PorkChop soon began suffering from vomiting, diarrhea, and severe dehydration that lasted 72 hours.
“911 was called and he was immediately transported to the hospital via ambulance,” it read.
Once taken to the hospital, he was admitted for one week for testing and received physical therapy and antibiotics while doctors checked him out. He was diagnosed with multiple medical conditions, including atrial fibrillation (an irregular heartbeat), acute kidney injury, hyponatremia caused by an intestinal infection, and hypertension.

World of Wonder’s handwritten message shared that PorkChop is “bed-bound for the next 14 to 21 days,” but “expected to make a full recovery.”
They also launched a GoFundMe and asked fans to assist if they can to “greatly improve his quality of life” with the purchasing of a “motorized scooter to help him get around, and assistance with personal 24-hour security.”

“Sometimes a small act of kindness can make a meaningful difference for someone who has spent so many years bringing joy to others. We hope the community will keep PorkChop in their thoughts and consider lending support in whatever way they may be able,” they concluded.

“When I was young, I struggled to fit in, but playing the flute helped me find my voice,” Lizzo said in a press release. “I want this book to teach every young person out there that your passion can give you purpose, belonging, and lead you on a journey to fulfill your wildest dreams.”
Kendra Levin, VP and editorial director of Simon & Schuster Books for Young Readers, said the story captures the empowering message Lizzo has shared throughout her career.

“Lil Lizzo Meets Sasha B. Flootin’” will be published by Simon & Schuster Books for Young Readers on September 8 and is currently available for preorder.
