Meet The Black American Bishop and Choir who brought Church to the Royal Wedding! Bishop Michael Curry and The Kingdom Choir!

He began and ended his speech by quoting Martin Luther King Jr.

Meghan Markle just became one of the first mixed-race members of the British royal family, and the royal wedding has not been not shy about making that point. Halfway through the ceremony, just before a gospel choir sang “Stand by Me,” Bishop Michael Curry — a black American Episcopal from Chicago — gave an address on the redemptive power of love that quoted liberally from the black spiritual tradition.

Curry began and ended his address by quoting Martin Luther King Jr., and spent time on the legacy of slavery in between. And his speaking style was notably looser and freer than the rest of the speeches in the ceremony: He was speaking in the rhythm of black American preachers.

His address was a break with royal wedding tradition. As Tara Isabella Burton wrote for Vox, traditionally British priests from the Church of England preside over royal events. Curry, however, is the head of the American Episcopal Church, a sister to the Church of England but not a part of it. He is also the first black leader of the Episcopal Church.

“I’ll never forget my daddy told me when I was fairly new as a priest,” Curry remarked before the ceremony began, “he said just always be who you really are. Don’t pretend to be someone else.” Curry followed his father’s advice at the royal wedding — and in the process, he let Markle remind everyone else who she is.

However, Before Bishop Michael Bruce Curry’s sermonette, Karen Gibson and the Kingdom Choir gave a moving rendition of Ben E. King's "Stand By Me" at the royal wedding on Saturday (May 19.)

The choir's performance preceded Prince Harry and Markle's vows.

PA Politics was all the rage this campaign season from new candidates running to a redistricting that has everything up for grabs! In the 181st District (North Philadelphia), Malcolm Kenyatta won the party nomination for the seat left open by the retirement of longtime state Rep. Curtis Thomas.

Malcolm didn’t get this win without hate opposition. Kenyatta, a Democrat running for the open seat in the 181st Legislative District, would become the second openly-gay lawmaker in Pennsylvania, if elected in November.

The posters depicted a picture of Kenyatta and his former husband, Terrell Green, on their wedding day. A red, circular "No" symbol was superimposed over the picture.. A message to the right of the photo reads "SAY NO!!!!!"

The picture includes a caption from Kenyatta thanking Green for his love. "Thank you for always being in my corner and for being more than my best friend," the message reads. "Thank you for this 1st year of marriage – I look forward to many more."

Kenyatta and Green have been divorced for more than a year.

The posters reportedly appeared throughout the district on Tuesday as voters headed to the polls for the primary election.

Green posted a message to Facebook, saying the former couple's personal business and orientation "should have no bearing" on Kenyatta's job and work ethic.

"I hope the person who is hanging these hateful fliers around the polling places of 181st district gets exposed and held accountable for spreading hate messages on our day that we all vote to have a voice and seat at the table," Green wrote. "This person took a personal picture from our wedding album and put hate on it!"

Kenyatta defeated Lewis Nash Sr., Lewis F. Thomas III, Jason Alexander Deering and Gilberto Gonzalez. Kenyatta had 42 percent to 27 percent for Nash, 18 percent for Thomas and 8 percent for Deering and 6 percent for Gonzalez. Kenyatta will face T. Milton Street, who ran unopposed on the Republican ballot.

Well it failed and HE WON and now on to November for the general for a sure fire Victory! Congrats Malcolm!
