Sarah Paulson for Elle US - November 2018 She Is Terrified That This Will All Go Away
Since winning an Emmy in 2016 for her iconic portrayal of Marcia Clark in Ryan Murphy’s The People v. O. J. Simpson: American Crime Story, Sarah Paulson has quietly turned Hollywood on its head—and hit a midcareer surge. It isn’t simply that she’s prolific; Paulson, 43, brings measured layers of grace and diligence to every role. The projects she’s chosen of late run the gamut: from light action fare like this summer’s Ocean’s 8, where Paulson joined a band of unlikely female heist artists including Rihanna and Cate Blanchett; to the apocalypse-themed American Horror Story, season eight (an episode of which she directed); to Netflix’s dystopian thriller Bird Box (out in December), in which Paulson once again shares screen time with friend and Ocean’s 8 castmate Sandra Bullock. Though she considers television her comfort zone, her forays into film continue apace with starring roles in M. Night Shyamalan’s buzzy Unbreakable and the Split sequel, Glass. Besides reactivating America’s obsession with true crime and scandal, The People v. O. J. gave Paulson the momentum necessary to pivot from being a workhorse in the industry for nearly 25 years to entering the zeitgeist. She’s since become impossible to overlook, and even harder not to love.

On confronting the sexism that Marcia Clark faced:
“People forgot that Marcia Clark was a living, breathing person with a heartbeat and two children and a divorce she was going through. As a woman, she was supposed to show up in some outfit that would be perceived as soft and appealing, when she was actually trying someone for a double homicide. I myself had ideas about Marcia Clark that had been fed to me [by the media]. I realized, Wow, I got this so wrong back then.”

On ageism in Hollywood:
“Interest in me sparked when I was in my very late thirties. I have absolute terror and fear that someone’s gonna go, ‘You turned 45. Bye-bye.’ I hope I don’t get told to go back to bed. I have a lot more to do and say. But there’s this notion that women fall apart after 45. It’s been perpetuated by Hollywood by not putting the stories of women over certain ages front and center. They’re dictating what they think is interesting, and we are consuming it and deciding that what they’re telling us is true.”

On the public’s fascination with her relationship with Holland Taylor:
“I didn’t choose to fall in love with the person I fell in love with. But I think why it’s interesting to people is that on paper, it’s unconventional. For a person who might find themselves in a situation that they fear will be misperceived or judged, maybe they could see me living my life in a way that is authentic to me—just trying to be as real as possible. If that inspires anybody else, that can’t be a bad thing.”
On equal representation:
“This movement can be misconstrued as ‘Hey, men, get out of the way.’ I just want a seat at the table where they’re all sitting, and have been for so long. I want a cushion—a cushy seat—and a sense that I have value and I’m allowed to stay. I have been very lucky because a lot of my sense of empowerment has come from working with Ryan Murphy. It’s a bit of an anomaly to have found my voice because of this one particular man. But it’s also a way of saying this can happen. You don’t need to push any gender out of the way to find your spot.”

On female friendship:
“Back when I was a young person [watching television], forming opinions about what women were like together, there was a lot of cattiness. A lot about clothing and fights over shoes. I had a screwed-up thought process about [female friendship]. I had to confront it on the set of Ocean’s 8. It was the first time a lot of us had been in a movie with seven other women. I thought, ‘Why are you going into this with the expectation that this isn’t going to go well?’ People were worried: ‘Who’s gonna take too long to come out of the makeup trailer?’ They never waited a single day for any of us. We were always ready. But I did have to ask myself, ‘Where did I come up with this idea that women can’t work together and support each other?’ I now have a new map in my body, molecularly, from the experience.”

On balancing her personal and professional life:
“I don’t have children; I’m not married. But I have a lot of intimate relationships—my nieces and nephews, and a wonderful circle of friends. I don’t see them enough. This idea that you can have it all is another thing to be challenged. Somebody once said to me, ‘You can have anything you want, but you can’t have everything.’ You can’t be awake and asleep, or here and also at home. You have to make choices. But I’ve gotta strike while the iron’s hot. Right now, people are calling. They may stop really soon. So I want to make hay while the sun shines. That’s a lot of things I just did there...iron, hay. But you know, the window is open. I’m just trying to muscle it open as long as I can and get it as wide as possible.”

#RHoA: Kenya Moore Is ‘Devastated’ Only Four Gifts Have Been Bought Off Of Her Baby Registry
BABY SHOWERS LIVES MATTER!

Former 'RHOA' Kenya Moore Is 'Devastated' Only Four Gifts Have Been Bought Off Of Her Baby Registry
Kenya Moore is proving once again that she is going to cash in on #babydaly. The former Real Housewives of Atlanta star is reportedly so devastated that none of her “real” friends have RSVP’s to her baby shower — and only four gifts have been purchased off of her insane registry — that she is considering canceling the shower altogether.

Moore is reportedly taking the disappointing news about her shower so seriously that her husband, Marc Daly, is considering buying every single item on the registry just to save the embarrassment and hassle of having to cancel the event.

“This is a big deal to her and she feels like those close to her have let her down,” a source explained to Radar Online. “She’s beyond furious.”
She’s “embarrassed, heartbroken and mad,” the insider added.
Before the lack of RSVP’s, Moore had already made it awkward for those that were invited, writing on her Instagram story that proper etiquette requires those that are invited should send a gift whether they are coming to the shower or not.

Although it could have been innocent, the plea made it seem like Moore could be in some money troubles after losing her peach.
Moore’s secret wedding to Daly landed her in hot water with Bravo execs, leading to her termination at the end of the Season 10 of the Real Housewives of Atlanta. Bravo bosses were so made that she hid her marriage that they but also fined her $25,000.
Moore went so far as to refuse access to Daly to any great extent. She also wouldn’t let producers document her post-married life, which is why they fined her $25,000. The situation left Moore in a bad spot with producers, but it also left fans wondering if Moore was faking the marriage altogether.

Earlier this year, Moore discussed how Daly has reacted to constantly being in the limelight. Moore admitted that it has been an overwhelming experience for Daly because he is used to hiding in the background.

She is, however, hopeful that Daly will adjust to his new life after some time has passed. Considering that Kenya Moore has hired her own camera crew to document her pregnancy with hopes of landing her own reality show, it sounds like Daly needs to get used to living life on camera.

#Empire: The Big Death Looks like Just Got Messier
The Season 5 premiere of Empire ended on a killer cliffhanger revealing a major death is on the way. The mystery is going to play out through the entire season, so the premiere naturally didn't show who was going to be in a coffin. The good news for fans dying for details is that the October 17 episode of Empire ended on another flash-forward that gives a little bit more away. The bad news is that it was a bloody mess, and the death just got more complicated. Oh, Empire.

Let's start with a quick recap of the flash-forward action. The big death was first revealed in the final moments of the fifth season premiere when time flashed forward six months, when Lucious was seen standing grimly over a coffin. He said "I'm sorry" to the casket, and it felt pretty clear that whoever died was somebody important to Lucious. A second flash-forward was set during the funeral. Thirsty Rawlings came up to tell Lucious that the limo was waiting and ask who he wanted to ride with.

Lucious told Thirsty that he intended to ride alone, but before he could get going, a pair of federal agents came and told Lucious they needed to talk. At that point, it was impossible to say if the feds wanted to chat with Lucious because they suspected him of something, there had been some development in whatever resulted in the big death, or they were just a thorn in his side unrelated to the death.

Well, the flash-forward in the latest episode may be hinting that Lucious is going to be in trouble with the feds. At the very least, the situation leading up to the big death is going to be very messy. This latest flash-forward was set five months in the future, so it takes place before the funeral. Lucious stumbled out of a room, looking very shaken.

It's not difficult to guess why he was shaken up, as the flash-forward quickly reveals that he's covered in blood on one side of his torso. At first, it's impossible to say if the blood is his or that of somebody else, and Lucious looks more confused than agonized or enraged. When he pulls back his jacket to examine the blood, however, it looks an awful lot like he's the one bleeding. Lucious seems to be quite seriously injured.

Whatever happens that leads to the death, a lot of blood will be shed in the final chain of events. Unless the funeral is held a full month after Lucious stumbled out clutching his bloody side, the incident in the latest flash-forward probably didn't immediately result in the big death.

#HipHopNews: Juicy J Isn’t Rushing An Album After New Travis Scott-Featured Single “Neighbors”
Surviving a quarter century in the rap game is no feat to sneeze at, but Juicy J has made it look effortless, as he continues to pour up from the fountain of youth while giving Father Time a run for his money.
The Memphis rep may have spent the first half of his career as one of the masterminds behind Three 6 Mafia—one of the seminal hip-hop collectives of the 1990s and aughts—but after breaking away from the group about a decade ago, Juicy has found success as a solo act. He's aligned himself with younger stars like Wiz Khalifa, now assuming the role of part-owner and A&R representative of the label of Taylor Gang.

Since releasing his 2017 album Rubba Band Business, Juicy J has kept his name in the mix by becoming an elder statesmen, mentor and collaborator to other artists, lending his talents to stars like A$AP Rocky and Rae Sremmurd, as well as upstarts like $uicideboy$.
With the release of his Buddah Bless-produced new single "Neighbors" featuring Travis Scott and a forthcoming collaboration with Kevin Gates and Lil Skies, it appears Juicy J has put the focus back on himself musically and is gearing up for a new album release which, according to him, could be dropping soon.

Dear Lee Daniels & Whitney Cummings A #MeToo Themed Comedy Series Sounds AWFUL!
Hollywood, in its usual sense of self-congratulatory terribleness, has tried to capture the #MeToo movement in film and television. There have been successes and failures, and this latest attempt is probably going to land squarely in the terrible corner. Whitney Cummings and Empire creator Lee Daniels are working on a “timely” half-hour comedy series for Amazon, in which Cummings “must reconcile the dissonance between different generations of feminism, and the struggle to reconcile our primal desires, and socially constructed identities with current ethical obligations regarding race, class and gender” as she works at a college that is navigating “PC culture and the #MeToo climate.”

Forgive me for being doubtful of the series, but let’s maybe not turn the movement into a comedy right now, especially in light of the Kavanaugh hearings. Also, when has mocking “PC culture” ever been funny? That’s usually code for “People don’t let me tell racist jokes any longer, so I’m the one who’s really oppressed.” I have yet to see any depiction of the movement towards being mindful of the viewpoints of others portrayed well in a comedy; my mind jumps to the way Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt has tackled the culture of college campuses and absolutely shudders.

The line about reconciling two different generations of feminism also rubs me the wrong way. Too often, this is a way to lecture younger women on how they’re overly sensitive or that they don’t understand what real oppression is. Combine this with the phrasing “ethical obligation,” and you’ve got a potentially hot mess on your hands. The “obligation” is recognizing your privilege and not being terrible to other people, and being aware of what you say and do and how it affects those around you. I fail to see what the humor is there.

The problem with adults trying to write about teen/college-age culture is that they usually don’t quite understand it. They think it’s silly, hyper-sensitive, and full of “snowflakes,” even if they don’t use that term out loud. Take the new version of Heathers, where Veronica and JD are white, slender, cis-het students who are horribly put upon for being “normal” compared to the popular kids, who don’t fit into traditional stereotypes. Don’t make the students the butt of the jokes. Please, we’re begging you.

And finally, the “primal desire” bit really set off an alarm bell for me. “Boys will be boys” has too long been an excuse, proposing that men just cannot control themselves if women are around them. I’m not sure what context the primal desires will have in the series, but if it’s used as a joke about why a male colleague cannot keep his hands to himself, or if it’s used to downplay harassment, that will be incredibly not cool.

Overall, this show sounds more dangerous than helpful. We don’t need a #MeToo movement show examining the societal effects; we need to actually effect change. Turning the movement into a series of pithy punchlines doesn’t work. We need a cold, hard look at the system and how to fix it. Forgive me if I sound extremely judgmental already, but I’m not here for shows that turn identity politics into a joke, or satire that punches down rather than upwards, which is what this show sounds like it will be.

‘The Conners’ Debut Ratings Stay Steady With 10.6M Viewers
Up a tenth from the fast affiliates of this morning, the new-ish sitcom delivered a 2.4/10 among adults 18-49 and 10.6 million viewers. That’s a tenth down in the demo from what the finale of the short-lived Roseanne revival snared in late May and around 20,000 fewer viewers.

The 8 PM “Keep On Truckin'” opener was the top rated show of Tuesday night but the second most watched after the audience of 11.9 million that CBS’ NCIS pulled in during the same time period.
Of course, compared to the blockbuster debut of Roseanne’s tenth season, The Conners was down an unsparing 54% among the 18-49s and 43% in the sets of eyeballs.

Otherwise on the dial, The Flash (0.7/3)and The Voice (1.8/8) were also up a tenth from their earlier ratings while the season premieres of ABC’s black-sh (1.0/5) and Splitting Up Together (0.9/4) were down by the same measure.

Michael B. Jordan Hijacks Ellen DeGeneres’ Birthday Gift to Tennis Star Naomi Osaka
Ellen DeGeneres gifted tennis star Naomi Osaka with some eye candy in the form of a photo of Michael B. Jordan, but the gift got better when the actor himself got involved.
It all went down on Twitter Wednesday, Oct. 17, when the talk show host tweeted, “Happy birthday, @Naomi_Osaka_. I got you a present. @michaelb4jordan.” The post was accompanied by a photo of a sweat-drenched Jordan in a promotional photo for his film “Creed,” the sequel of which is due in November.

That night Osaka replied, writing, “pls block me 😩.”
Hours later, Jordan, who was tagged in DeGeneres’ original tweet, responded himself with a gift that certainly one-upped the comedian’s photo.
“This one is better and more recent. LOL 😂 Happy Belated Bday Naomi. But seriously I want to invite you to the Creed 2 premiere as a bday present 🎁,” he tweeted.
Osaka was stunned, to say the least.

And it wasn’t just the Grand Slam winner who was moved by the gesture. Many Twitter users fawned over the exchange.

Da Brat Reportedly Off the Hook for Jail Time in Bottle Throwing Lawsuit
Last month it was reported, Da Brat thought filing for bankruptcy would pause all her other legal cases, including the millions of dollars she owes to a cheerleader she assaulted, but unfortunately that didn’t happen and now she’s possibly facing contempt for blowing off a court order.

According to documents obtained by The Blast, Da Brat wants an injunction against Shayla Stevens from collecting on the $6.4 million she owes for hitting Stevens with a bottle at nightclub back in 2007.

Da Brat Tat Tat catches huge break.

According to documents, obtained by The Blast, the judge in Da Brat’s ongoing case over the cheerleader she cracked in the head with a bottle just ordered that the rapper is entitled to protection from having to pay up on a $6 million judgment while she’s actively in bankruptcy proceedings…

The judge agreed and ordered that everyone looking to collect off Da Brat back off until her bankruptcy matter is dealt with.

Kim and Kanye to DIVORCE? She’s Had It With His Behavior!
It definitely doesn’t seem easy being married to Kanye West! Even though she has been supporting her husband through all of his rants, at the White House and on social media, rumor has it that Kim Kardashian is approaching the limit of how many ‘embarrassing moments’ she can actually take.

A source tells HollywoodLife that it’s pretty serious and that if something doesn’t change in his behavior, the marriage might crumble soon enough.
Apparently, Kim is ‘desperate to save her marriage with Kanye, but does not know what to do. She fears for Kanye’s health and the effect some of his behavior may have on their children in the future.’

‘She too questions some of Kanye’s decisions about his own health and well-being. She wishes he would take better care of himself and she fears that his poor choices may force her to make a decision she does not want to make. She’s trying to be patient, loving and caring with Kanye but she struggles.’

For the sake of their three kids, Kim really wants to keep the family together but ‘does not know how many more embarrassing moments like his White House appearance she, or her family can handle.’
The insider explained that ‘Every time Kanye tweets or steps in front of a camera, Kim braces for the worst while hoping for the best, which is a terrible way to live. She’s at her wits’ end. Kim simply doesn’t know what to do other than to stay by Kanye’s side and take care of him the best way that she can.’

But that doesn’t mean Kim is giving up on Ye just yet as she ‘loves him dearly, but also gets why he is so misunderstood.’

Do you think the Kardashian will manage to save her marriage while helping Kanye change for the better as well?

MTV’s “The Real World” To Be Rebooted By Facebook Watch
The Real World is making a real return. Facebook Watch and MTV Studios are partnering up to pick up the MTV reality series classic, Facebook executives announced on Wednesday.

The show will kick off with three seasons in the U.S., Mexico, and Thailand. The collaboration with Facebook will bring in a more audience involvement by giving fans the opportunity to vote on housemates before the shows start. Additionally, fans will be offered the chance to connect with cast members through Facebook features like Facebook Live, Watch Party and Premiers.

“The Real World made history as the world’s first original reality show and trailblazing social experiment — and we’re thrilled to reboot the show for today’s audiences — representing and amplifying the real life, real people, real places and real social tensions of each country,” said Matthew Henick, Facebook’s Head of Content Planning and Strategy.

Added MTV’s president, Chris McCarthy: “MTV’s Real World helped to define a generation and created a new genre of television with a simple yet powerful idea of connecting people from wildly divergent backgrounds to find common ground on the issues that often divided them. By partnering with Facebook Watch and BMP, we have the opportunity to impact culture and create a new genre of television all over again, while engaging the next generation of content consumers around the world.”

“The Real World” debuted for the first time in 1992 and became MTV’s longest-running show ever. The series is set to premiere spring 2019.

Kobe Bryant Removed From Film Festival Jury After Petition Over 2003 Rape Allegation
Kobe Bryant won’t be able to attend a film festival because of his 2003 rape allegation.

Bryant was removed as a jury for the Animation Is Film Festival after people protested his attendance on Change.org. The petition titled “Remove Sexual Predator Kobe Bryant from ‘Animation Is Film’ Festival Jury” was posted because of his rape allegation from 2003. The film festival will take place in Los Angeles this weekend.

“After discussions with the various stakeholders of Animation Is Film, the decision has been made to remove Kobe Bryant from the 2018 jury,” said Eric Beckman, CEO of GKIDS, which produces the event. “We are a young organization and it is important to keep our collective energies focused on the films, the participating filmmakers, and our festival attendees.” Bryant would have respectively served, as he won an Oscar in 2016 for his animation “Dear Basketball.”  ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
An excerpt from the petition reads: “We, women and allies of the animation community demand that accused rapist and sexual predator Kobe Bryant be removed from the Jury of Animation is Film Festival. In light of the #MeToo movement, there has been little to no recourse for Kobe Bryant’s actions of sexual assault. We demand that GKIDS, Variety, & Annecy revoke their complicity in enabling a sexual predator to continue a life without any accountability both as an individual and a celebrity. On its website ‘Animation Is Film’ specifically states one of their primary purposes is to champion and support women filmmakers. It’s time to turn these words into action. It continued, “This is an urgent time to say NO to toxic and violent behavior against women. For this reason, we ask that GKIDS, Variety & Annecy take a stand in support of women. Keeping Kobe Bryant on the jury sets a precedent of leniency for sexual criminals and further undermines the visibility and respect that victims of harassment and assault deserve.”

Bryant responded in a statement saying, “This decision further motivates me and my commitment to building a studio that focuses on diversity and inclusion in storytelling for the animation industry,” he said. “I remain focused on changing the world in positive ways through diverse stories, characters, and leadership, in order to inspire the next generation.”

Bryant was arrested and charged with sexual assault in 2003, but the case was dropped after the alleged victim refused to testify. Bryant publicly apologized to the woman.

Trump Place Sign Comes Down on West Side Condo Building
Few places in the United States are more staunchly liberal than the Upper West Side of Manhattan. And so few things are more galling to many residents of a residential complex there than the big letters that greet them at their building: T-R-U-M-P P-L-A-C-E.

On Thursday, condo owners joined three neighboring buildings in finally getting their relief.
Workers pried the letters off the front and back of 200 Riverside Boulevard, a 46-story building between 69th and 70th Streets. The building will simply be called: 200 Riverside Boulevard.

Residents at other Trump-branded condominiums in New York, Stamford, Conn., and Chicago have considered taking similar actions since Donald J. Trump plunged into the presidential race, but they’ve been stymied by a lack of support and fears of costly litigation or a drop in the value of their homes. The challenge of untangling the licensing agreements signed with the Trump Organization has also been an obstacle.

The condominium at 200 Riverside Boulevard, however, figured out a way.
The building bought the right to use the Trump name in 2000, paying $1 under a four-page licensing agreement signed by Mr. Trump. But the sentiment about having his name over the front door changed during Mr. Trump’s campaign. Many residents sought to distance themselves from his politics.

For some, the once ubiquitous Trump brand, which adorned apartment buildings, hotels, casinos, golf courses, steaks, suits and water, does not have the same appeal it used to have before Mr. Trump’s political career.
Eric Chung, a longtime resident of 200 Riverside Boulevard whose family owns two units in the building, said that he had been concerned about the cost of litigation and the fate of the building’s “great employees.” But after a court decision and a recent survey of the owners in the building, the majority of whom wanted the name taken off, he said that removing the Trump letters “makes a very powerful statement.”

Eric Trump, who has assumed a leading role at the Trump businesses, declined to comment on Wednesday.
In Manhattan, there were 15 residential buildings that bore the Trump name in 2015. The next year, a trio of neighboring rental apartment buildings just to the south of 200 Riverside Boulevard pulled the name off their facades, the lobby rain mats and employees’ uniforms after 300 people signed an online petition titled, “Dump the TRUMP Name.”

“We were driven by our intense feelings about Trump himself,” Linda Gottlieb, a resident at one of the Trump-branded apartment buildings, said in a recent interview. “We would not have stayed in the building we felt so strongly about it. We just renewed our lease for two years.”
Ailing hotels in Toronto and New York paid the Trumps millions of dollars to remove the Trump name from their properties. The owner of a Trump hotel in Panama used a crowbar to remove the Trump letters.
Business has remained steady or declined at some Trump-branded hotels, as well as at the city-owned golf course, carousel and ice skating rinks operated by the Trump Organization in New York City.

The push to remove the Trump branding from 200 Riverside Boulevard began in 2017. In response to concerns raised by some of the 377 condo owners, the condo board began discussions of possibly removing the Trump name from the building’s facade.

The Daily Buzz For Sept 23

Kanye West: ‘for ‘W’ Magazine ‘I wouldn’t say that anyone in fashion is on my side’
Some people believe that Kanye West is a madman. Some people believe he’s a genius. I sort of believe he’s both. He’s both crazy and brilliant, defiantly eccentric, and possibly/probably chemically imbalanced. Kanye goes Full Kanye in a new W Magazine cover story for their October issue (which features multiple covers). The funniest part is that after basically ranting about Wreck-It Ralph, Elf and the fashion industry for four pages, W Magazine included this line at the end: “This is an excerpt from a longer interview and it was edited and condensed for clarity.” Hahaha!!! The poor bastard who had to transcribe this mess… we need to buy that person a drink. You can read Peak Kanye here, and here are some highlights:

When he first started caring about fashion: “I just liked picking out my own outfit for kindergarten. Now my daughter definitely picks out her own outfits and she will lay it down and look at it and say, ‘This is not great.’ And then she tries to tell me what to wear and what she likes out of the closet, like just my mom being in a fur store and me picking one and saying, ‘I like this one mom,’ and her looking at the price and it being the most expensive one. So, I think that’s where I got the expensive taste from.”

His debt: “This year I literally tweeted after doing a fashion show, ‘Hey, I’m $53 million in debt and people say, ‘I can’t understand that. That sounds like MC Hammer where we don’t relate to that.’ It’s not for you to relate to that…the people who know what the f–k I’m talking about know what the f–k I’m talking about. So I refuse people who write me off as some rich kid taking a hobby, fashion as a f–king hobby or a fashion plate. How could you even dare to think that, that you’re on the same level of this, blah, blah, blah?”

Art & education: “And the entire time, no one, um – very few people even knew that I have a f–king Ph.D. in art, you know? And not that that would even make the difference, but me saying that makes the difference to the exact people I’m talking to it’s, like, shut the f–k up. I will f–king laser you with alien f–king eyes and explode your f–king head. Shut the f–k up – try to write a rap. Okay then. I made this f–king T-shirt, now shut up. And it cost me everything I had and I gave everything I had.
He’s like the elf in Elf: “No, I’m the elf that’s Will Ferrell, that’s too big for his hands to make the toys…But he wants to make the toys. Why? Not just so he could play with them, but he wants to bring joy to the world. I am a creator and it’s my responsibility. There is no amount of money, like as I tell my managers right now, ‘What is your opinion of success?’ So many people look at success is just like having money. True, not having money can be a sign of a lack of success and also can deter you from being successful at other things that you do, but if you take guys like LVMH and like Kering, they might only have two or three businesses that are actually profitable and they all work together, but they are successful at taking brands that mean something to people.”
To the W reporter saying she’s on his side: “Um, no. I wouldn’t say that you’re on my side. I wouldn’t say that anyone in fashion is on my side. I don’t think there’s anyone on my side…I’m not saying I like that. I’m saying that to this date they do not understand who I am. They will not understand until after I’m gone. I am misunderstood and there is no one in fashion that’s on my side. Because if that’s the case, then take me and say, ‘Here’s your 80 people that work for you and here’s a straight up, honest deal for it.’ You don’t have to sign your soul away in order to. I don’t feel like…”

[From W Magazine]
The last part of the interview is just one page, a solid block of text as Kanye rants about his influences and how everyone is against him and he’s a Renaissance Person much like Michaelangelo only no one will let him paint the angels. While I followed much of the rant, and I understood how Kanye organically jumped from point to point, from thought to thought, the last half of the piece got sort of messy and unhinged. The truth is, only Kanye know what Kanye means. Only Kanye can think Kanye-thoughts, #NoDisrespectToBenAffleck. That’s what I got out of this: everyone is against Kanye. Kanye is aggrieved. But maybe Kanye martyring himself for the cause of fashion is what he needs for inspiration.

#RHoA: Kandi Burruss and Porsha Williams Feuding Over Request For A Threesome?
Kandi Burruss is gearing up for another season of The Real Housewives of Atlanta, and it sounds like some alliances are shifting in Atlanta. Kandi and Porsha Williams used to be close friends last season, but some reports are now hinting that the two ladies are growing apart. Many have speculated over why they are no longer friends, and it sounds like one source has a pretty outrageous reason: sex. If you think this rumor is outrageous, join the club.

According to a new tweet, Kandi Burruss has supposedly found a new interest in sleeping with women. Apparently, her husband isn’t giving her enough, and she enjoys inviting women into their bedroom after having their son, Ace. It’s a rumor that is easily believed for two reasons: She isn’t the first housewife to have a threesome, as Brandi Glanville from The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills has admitted to threesomes to keeping her marriage to Eddie Cibrian hot, and two, she owns a huge sex toy business, so her fans know that she’s frisky and isn’t scared to try something new.

In the tweet, which was shared by an account called Bravoholic, a source claims that Kandi and Porsha aren’t speaking these days because Kandi had asked her friend to be in a threesome with herself and her husband, Todd Tucker. The tweet reveals that one of the storylines for the upcoming season is Kandi’s desire to sleep with women and that she and her husband have already experimented with other women. Things go awry when she asks Williams to be the other woman.
Apparently, Porsha tells Kandi Burruss that she doesn’t sleep with women and says it in a way that’s rude and condescending to Burruss. Even if Kandi Burruss sleeps with women and has threesomes with her husband, would she really ask Porsha to be the other woman, given Williams has shown no interest in women? And would she really ask Williams, given they are filming The Real Housewives of Atlanta? Plus, Kandi Burruss knows that Porsha will dish the dirt, as she had no problem spreading rumors about Peter Thomas supposedly cheating on Cynthia Bailey last season.

Of course, this rumor could be completely false. The reason for Kandi Burruss and Porsha falling out could have something to do with Burruss taking Kenya Moore’s side during the reunion special last year. It’s no secret that Williams and Kenya don’t get along, as Moore has made several comments about Porsha’s marriage to Kordell Stewart. On the reunion special, Kandi Burruss revealed that she felt bad for Kenya, as she felt that people attacked her for no valid reason. And maybe this is why Porsha is upset with Burruss.
“I was sticking up for what’s right. People try to make Kenya wrong in every situation just because they don’t like her. It’s not OK for a man to physically attack a woman, and they can’t make it OK just because it’s Kenya. I’m shocked that they were taking up for him. Looking back at that Miami episode, you can clearly see he called all of us bitches and all kinds of names. He knocked his own aunt out trying to get to Kenya. There is no way they should be supporting that type of aggression towards women,” Kandi Burruss revealed last year on her blog for The Real Housewives of Atlanta, according to Bravo.

What do you think of this rumor regarding Kandi Burruss? Do you think it is too juicy to be true, or do you think that Burruss really did ask Porsha to join her and Todd in a threesome?

‘Empire’ Boss Explains Decision to Kill Off Major Character in Season 3 Premiere (SPOILERS)
SPOILER ALERT: Do not read ahead if you have not watched the Season 3 premiere of “Empire,” which aired Wednesday, Sept. 21 on Fox.
After a summer of waiting, “Empire” viewers finally know who fell to their death on last season’s finale…Rhonda (Kaitlin Doubleday) is dunzo.
Last season’s final episode saw Rhonda fighting with Anika (Grace Gealey) on top of a roof when Andre (Trai Byers) walked out onto the scene to see someone fall off the balcony — but he didn’t see who.

Moments after Season 3 kicked off Wednesday night, Rhonda fell from the sky, her bloody and lifeless body landing on a car, and there’s no doubt about it: she’s dead.

However, Rhonda came back in the episode by way of Andre’s hallucinations, setting up a storyline for the eldest Lyon brother — who’s dealt with mental illness over the past two seasons — to deal with new demons in the upcoming episodes.
So, does that mean that Doubleday is still a series regular, or will she just appear every now-and-then in hallucinations or flashbacks?

“Empire” showrunner Ilene Chaiken declined to answer that question in an interview conducted earlier Wednesday by several news outlets, but she teased, “We could still see her. Rhonda is quite likely not out of our ‘Empire’ world just yet. I don’t want to say how long Andre will have this unusual relationship with his deceased wife, but there’s a good chance that we will see more of her.”
Chaiken also reveals that at the time the Season 2 finale aired, she and the “Empire” writers — let alone the cast — did not know if it would be Rhonda or Anika who would be killed off. They just knew that one of them had to die, in order to serve the story of the upcoming third season.

“It was a really, really tough decision because it wasn’t as if we had an agenda last season. We love the character and we love the actress and we didn’t want to lose her from the show. It was really the story that led to the decision, Chaiken explains. “That fight on the balcony, it just happened. It wasn’t in the original finale script, and as Lee [Daniels] and I were working on it, we loved it and we said, we have to do it. And then I said, ‘Lee, you realized that means one of these women will be killed off?!’ Lee and Danny [Strong] both said, ‘No! We love them both! They can’t die!’ But after much anguishing, we came to the very, very tough conclusion.”

Rhonda’s death is clearly impacting Andre in a harsh way — he is hallucinating that she’s still alive. How will he continue to cope with her being gone?
It’s obviously taking a large toll on him. He’s bereaved deeply and profoundly, and he’s also a man with a delicate psychological constitution who, apparently based on that scene, is going to take this very hard and might face challenges that other people don’t face. It’s going to be an ongoing challenge for Andre. The way that he regroups and goes forward is going to be very stunning.

Is Anika really off the hook? Andre did see her push Rhonda over the edge, right?
He didn’t see that Anika set out to hurt Rhonda — in fact, I think Andre knows that Rhonda came for Anika. I would venture that he knows that Rhonda came for Anika so although he’s deeply upset at it, I don’t think he’s looking at Anika as someone who came after her to kill her. But regardless, Anika is in a pretty uncomfortable situation, stuck in that family and stuck in that house.

So is there any fear of Anika being charged with Rhonda’s death? Or is it just understood that there was a fight and no one is at fault?
It will have repercussions for her. It will absolutely have ongoing ramifications.
Anika lied to Lucious (Terrence Howard) about having a baby girl. Where does their very twisted relationship stand now, especially with Lucious’ mother (Leslie Uggams) living in the house?

You’ve identified a source of conflict and story for us! Not only are Lucious and Anika locked in a loveless and conflicted and contentious marriage, but Anika is unwelcome in that home and unwanted by Leah who seems to have taken pretty comfortable to her role as woman of the house. They’re going to make one another’s lives hell.
Jamal chooses to perform a song that includes lyrics about the Orlando tragedy and Black Lives Matter. Why did the writers decide to incorporate those events?
We believe that’s what Jamal would be singing about — it’s who his character is and it’s his story and his drive for the season. He even stated it in the Season 2 finale that his intention is to make music with a view of doing good in the world. That’s what motivates him and he’s taking it all with a sense of mission — to change the narrative of his family and to lead his family away from these dark currents to Lucious has drawn him toward. That’s Jamal’s goal and his mission.

Cookie (Taraji P. Henson) is really trying to separate her relationship from Lucious. Will that last throughout the season?
The relationship between them is powerful and the things that draw them to one another won’t easily be vanquished, but her determinations are steadfast and sincere so I would say that it will be a source of tension between them. Lucious is really throwing down and much of his drive for this season is to win Cookie back, but her drive, which will evolve, is to try to start a new life and to cut herself loose from something that’s brought her pain.

Do we need to be worried about that Teddy Bear that Tariq (Morocco Omari) planted a camera inside?
We need to be worried. Tariq is very determined and he’s going after Lucious with a vengeance and I’m sure the teddy bear isn’t his only move.
Will Tariq continue to be an important character through the entirety of the season?
He’s an important character and it’ an important storyline for us and it will play throughout much of the season.

The Weeknd is back!! Only hours after announcing his new album Starboy, and showing off his short hair cut, the R&B/Pop star debuts the LP’s title track, which features EDM hitmakers Daft Punk.

Abel is clearly in another stratosphere now, as he boasts about his superstar status and bankroll, which includes buying his mother a car and a crib (“We don’t pray for love, we just pray for cars”).
“Look what you’ve done,” he sings. “I’m a motherfu**ing Starboy.”
Set for release on Nov. 25, Starboy features 18 tracks, and is already available for pre-order on iTunes.
Earlier this month, The Weeknd promised that Starboy would be his “best-sounding” album to date with influences ranging from The Smiths and Bad Brains to Prince.

“I think it’ll be the best-sounding album I’ve ever done,” he told VMAN. “It’s hard to label the sound because, when I first came out, nobody would label it R&B. I just want to keep pushing the envelope without it feeling forced.”

Frank Ocean’s Dad Loses AGAIN In $142 Million Lawsuit Against Russell Simmons
Frank Ocean’s father has been shut down once again in his $142 million dollar lawsuit against Russell Simmons and his website – over allegations they defamed him by labeling him a dead beat dad – with a Federal Court judge ordering the case to be dismissed once and for all, and the man not be awarded from his complaint.
Here’s the latest: On September 20th, the Federal Court judge came back with his decision and sided with Russell Simmons and Global Grind, by throwing out the lawsuit filed by Frank Ocean’s father once again.
The order explains that regardless of all Cooksey’s allegations of fraud and defamation against his good name, the simple fact of the matter is he waited too long to file the lawsuit, which makes it barred due to the statute of limitations.

Further, the judge says Cooksey’s attempt to claim he didn’t know about the time frame he had to file due to insanity is absurd — especially since he understood his legal rights throughout and even sent the defendants a cease and desist prior to filing the $142 million lawsuit.
Due to him waiting too long to bring the case against Simmons and his website, the claims are dismissed with prejudice (aka he can never refile the lawsuit in the future). The judge ordered the case to be closed once and for all, following years of the case dragging on between the parties.

Here’s the backstory: Back in 2014, Calvin Cooksey, Frank Ocean’s estranged father, filed suit against Russell Simmons and his website Global Grind for portraying him as a horrible father in an article. He claimed that the real story was that Frank’s “Money Grubbing Mother” was the reason he hadn’t seen his son since he was 5. In short, he denied the allegations of being a dead beat dad.
The article at the center of the lawsuit was a write up based on a Tweet that the singer wrote calling Cooksey a scheming father and a deadbeat.

He filed suit demanding $142 million in damages for the harm and lost income he suffered as a result of the article. Cooksey also filed docs explaining he is so broke that he couldn’t afford to pay the court costs and asked for a waiver of the fees. He said he lived off his social security disability of $789.66 a month and couldn’t even remember the last time he had a job.
Russell and Global Grind responded to the lawsuit explaining they didn’t defame Cooksey and demanded the suit be tossed out of court. The judge eventually dismissed all the claims and awarded Frank Ocean’s dad nothing. Cooksey filed an appeal and that court overturned the dismissal and the lawsuit had been pending for several months.

LOL!

Cam Newton enters new territory with passionate comments on race in America
After maintaining a rather neutral stance on the violence and unrest in the country recently, Panthers quarterback Cam Newton spoke of accountability as a central theme Wednesday.
If he’s held accountable at his job, so should others when the stakes are higher than winning and losing a football game.

“But what if people are dying?” Newton asked at his weekly press conference.
In his most expansive comments on race relations and social justice in his career, the league’s reigning MVP spoke for more than 12 minutes about race in America less than one day after yet another black man was gunned down by police, this time just up the road in Charlotte.

“I’m an African-American. I am not happy how the justice has been kind of dealt with over the years. The state of oppression in our community. But we also, as black people, have to do right by ourselves. We can’t be hypocrites.
“I say that on one voice but also on another voice that when you go public or when things happen in the community, it’s not the fact that things are happening.  It’s the way they’re being treated after they’re happening. When you get a person that does some unjust things or killing an innocent person, killing fathers, killing people who have actual families. That’s real.”
Then Newton continued with the strongest statement I’ve ever heard him say on anything.

“I have a son and a daughter that I’m responsible for. So how would I be if one day they come home and there’s no more daddy?”
This is the kind of chilling idea that sticks with you. Remember when President Obama said if he had a son, he’d look like Trayvon Martin? This was as close to that as Cam Newton could get.

It’s as passionate as I’ve seen Newton speak since two days after the Super Bowl when he stood at his locker and defended his postgame press conference and not diving on the loose ball. He wasn’t stalling to think of how to phrase something correctly.
This was not the “We’re beyond racism” Cam that we’ve seen and that I wrote about last week. This was Cam begging to know when enough would be enough.
Newton did touch on black-on-black crime in major cities, though, which will dissatisfy some. Most people commit crimes to whom they are in relative proximity. And in many of these cities, discriminatory housing policies dating back to Jim Crow have led to the creation of these “inner cities”, “ghettos” and “projects”.
Newton acknowledged his lose-lose situation Wednesday. He’s long been stuck in a “damned if you do, damned if you don’t” conundrum. Speak strongly on race and racism (especially here in North Carolina) and there will be division. Speak on it strongly and get something wrong, and maybe your well-meaning message creates harm. Ignore it completely and maybe you’ll be called a traitor.

But Newton said he was always going to stay true to himself. He says he knows he’s a black man and doesn’t want to escape that, but he also says he doesn’t view the world through a race prism. He wants accountability on the practice field and in communities and within police departments.
He thought it crazy how long the list of names has become of people who have died at police hands. Almost every day there’s a new hashtag. #TamirRace. #EricGarner. #TerenceCrutcher. He finds it hard to fathom that some officers, after shooting and killing these people, are put on paid leave.
Newton was wise not to point fingers at the Tuesday incident in Charlotte that left Keith Lamont Scott dead after he was waiting to pick up his son. Police, relatives and alleged witnesses are offering different accounts of what led to Smith being shot and killed by an officer who had two years on the job.

Did Scott have a book or a gun? Did officers see Scott, a father of seven, exit his car with a gun once or twice? Why wasn’t the officer who shot him wearing a body camera? With North Carolina’s new law on body camera footage about to go into effect, will we ever see the film from the cameras of the other officers at the scene? Can Charlotte effectively protest Wednesday night without causing injury to others, or will we again face the paradox of meeting a militarized police force sent to de-escalate the situation? Will there be justice when the truth is found?

And if Cam wants accountability, I guess he woke up!

Mariah Carey to Release New Duet 'Infamous' With 'Empire' Star Jussie Smollett
Just a day after it was announced that her Las Vegas residency will end in 2017, word of a brand-new song from Mariah Carey has surfaced via "Empire" star Jussie Smollet.
On the forthcoming season of the hit FOX show, Mimi will be one of the many guest stars aside from Taye Diggs, Phylicia Rashad and French Montana, and now we have a small detail about what her cameo is going to entail. Earlier this year, we learned that she will play a fictional superstar named Kitty (appropriate), who comes to the "Empire"-land to collaborate with Jussie's character, Jamal Lyon.

"Empire" is on FOX at 9 p.m. ET Wednesday’s.

Adrienne Bailon Says She's Not the Cheating Ex Rob Kardashian Called Out on Rob & Chyna
Rob has said that one of his exes is the reason he's so paranoid about Blac Chyna's behavior.

On this week's episode of Rob & Chyna, reality television's finest exploration of life as a new couple, Rob Kardashian said that one of the reasons he’s so paranoid about infidelity is that one of his exes “was cheating and having sex with so many different people.” Given that his famous exes include Rita Ora and Adrienne Bailon, it was only a matter of time 'til someone started wondering if he was referring to one of them. But in a new clip from talk show The Real (via Us Weekly), Adrienne says she’s definitely not the person Rob was talking about.
“That girl was certainly not me,” Adrienne said. "I absolutely never cheated on Rob, and I just want to clarify that. And the way it’s said — it’s like, 'She slept with mad people.' I’m like, 'Uh, I can’t speak for anybody else, but I can assure you that was not me.’” She does go on to say that she understands why he’d still be worried about cheating, no matter who did it to him. “It makes you question yourself, it makes you question your self-worth … Was I not pretty enough? Was I not sexy enough? Am I not thin enough?”

The mystery of who cheated on Rob may never be solved, but in the meantime, at least.

Jared Leto Set To Play Andy Warhol In Upcoming Biopic
Talk about inspired casting. Jared Leto playing famed artist Andy Warhol is absolutely perfect, in my opinion. Warhol’s life is practically tailor-made for Leto.
Tentatively titled Warhol, the film’s script, being written by Terence Winter (Wolf of Wall Street), is based on the Victor Bockris book Warhol: The Biography. Not only is Leto starring, but he’ll also serve as producer, alongside Michael De Luca (The Social Network).

Warhol is best known for introducing the world to pop art, blending art with commerce. His work with Campbells soup cans, Coca-Cola bottles, and celebrities like Elvis Presley and Marilyn Monroe made him into a household name.
The openly gay artist’s famed art studio, The Factory, became the cultural hot spot for New York society. He was also associated with New York’s famed Studio 54 which he was a fixture at. The term, “15 minutes of fame,” was also coined by him. Warhol died in 1987 at the age of 58-years-old.
Leto won’t be the first to immortalize Warhol on screen. Guy Pearce did so in Factory Girl, as did David Bowie and Crispin Glover in Basquiat and The Doors respectively.

What do you think of this casting? Spot on or way off?
