BREAKING NEWS: Austin-area bomb suspect kills self in explosion as Austin PD SWAT team closed in!

BREAKING NEWS: Austin-area bomb suspect kills self in explosion as Austin PD SWAT team closed in!
Police confirmed Wednesday that the suspect in the bombings in Austin that killed two people and wounded several others is dead after setting off a bomb in a hotel parking lot when a SWAT team closed in.
Austin Police Chief Brian Manley said the suspect was a 24-year-old white man. His name will be released when his family has been informed. Manley said authorities do not know the motive for the bombings.
One SWAT team member fired a shot at the suspect's vehicle after he set off the bomb in Round Rock, about 20 miles from Austin, early Wednesday.

Austin, a destination city for music fans and barbecue pilgrimages, has long struggled with growth and segregation . Four bombings since March 2 have killed two people and wounded four. A fifth person suffered minor injuries when a package bomb exploded at a FedEx facility early Tuesday in Schertz, near San Antonio. That package was mailed from Austin, linking it to the serial bomber.

Here are the victims.

Bomb 1: Anthony Stephan House, 39
The March 2 explosion that killed Anthony Stephan House, a construction worker and money manager, received little attention at first.

Police described the explosion of a package left on his doorstep as an isolated incident with no continuing threat to the community after House died in a hospital less than an hour after it was reported.
House, remembered by friends as a quiet and motivated man, left behind an 8-year-old daughter. He went to high school in Pflugerville, an Austin suburb, where he ran track and played basketball.
A local man to the end, he graduated from Texas State University, a college down the highway about midway between San Antonio and Austin.

“He wanted to be something different and bigger than what a lot of people thought he was going to do,” Greg Padgitt, a friend from high school, told the Austin-American Statesman. “He was quiet, but jokey with the kids that he let in. He was a great kid.”

House’s stepfather, Freddie Dixon, said House’s daughter was inside the home when the explosion occurred

Bomb 2: Draylen Mason, 17
Before he was killed in a blast on March 10, Draylen Mason was college-bound.
He was involved in the Austin Soundwaves, a music-education program for underserved kids in Central Texas. He took to the stand-up bass and even played in a mariachi band.

“He was amazing, so passionate and very well-rounded,” said junior Eli Hernandez, 17, who described Mason as something of a role model. “Everyone could see he had a bright future with music.

Mason caught the eye and ear of Doug Dempster, dean of the University of Texas’s College of Fine Arts in central Austin. Dempster had for years been watching Mason develop not only himself but also students around him. At 17, he stopped and patiently helped his fellow burgeoning musicians in the trade.

“He was every inch a musician . . . the very most remarkable talent in a most remarkable youth orchestra program . . . He carried himself with a kind of quiet maturity that belied his youth,” Dempster said in a statement. He said Mason expected to become a Longhorn in the fall.

And like House, Mason was black. Both lived on the east side of Austin, where gentrification has displaced historically black and Latino neighborhoods.

Bomb 3: Esperanza Herrera, 75 not pictured.
The bomber did not appear to have targeted Esperanza Herrera. But the explosion nearly killed her anyway.

Herrera was visiting her elderly mother’s house and picked up a package that authorities later said was bound for another address. Her mother, Maria Moreno, often needed overnight care, neighbors said.

Bomb 4: Two unidentified victims

More than 300 federal law enforcement officials and scores of police officers widened their search for the bomber or bombers, even pleading with them to come forward to discuss any demands as they warned Austinites to report suspicious packages.

The fourth bomb to rock Austin was neither on the east side nor concealed in a package. An explosive device detonated Sunday night after being triggered by a trip wire in what authorities called the work of a “sophisticated serial bomber.” Two men were injured.

Police have not revealed the names of the victims. But the Associated Press spoke with William Grote, who said his grandson Will and a friend were struck by the blast. His grandson had nails embedded in his knees, Grote said. Bombers will often add makeshift shrapnel such as nails, screws and ball bearings to increase a bomb’s killing power.
“It was so dark they couldn’t tell and they tripped,” he said, according to the AP. “They didn’t see it. It was a wire. And it blew up.”
Another package found at a separate FedEx center in Austin later Tuesday had a bomb inside but was "disrupted" by law enforcement before it exploded, the FBI said in a statement.

One person was injured in Austin after an "incendiary device" was found at a Goodwill store Tuesday, but police said that incident did not appear be related to the other bombings. Police have not ruled out the possibility that those bombings could be hate crimes.
Will further update as more information comes in!

BREAKING NEWS: Police Hunt for 💣Bomber 💣After Three Explosions Rock Austin Texas Homes Targeting African Americans!

BREAKING NEWS: Police Hunt for ðŸ’£Bomber 💣After Three Explosions Rock Austin Texas Homes Targeting African Americans!
The bombs all detonated at homes in the Texas capital this month, killing two people and injuring two others.
A bomber is on the loose and terrorizing Austin, Texas, police said Monday, as three home explosions in ten days killed two people and wounded two others.
In the first explosion on Monday, a 17-year-old boy was killed and his mother was seriously injured when an unexpected package arrived at their home, police said at a televised press conference. One of the victims in that case reportedly found the package outside, and opened it in their kitchen, where it detonated.
Just hours later, Austin police said they responded to a home explosion at about 11:50 a.m. The police chief, who was still on the scene of the first explosion, hopped in his car and headed to the second.

In that explosion, a woman in her seventies was taken to a local hospital with life-threatening injuries, Austin-Travis County EMS told the Austin American-Statesman.
Ten days earlier, 39-year-old Anthony Stephan House was killed on March 2 when a package exploded at his home in northeast Austin, KEYE-TV reported.

“It’s so tragic,” one of House’s neighbors told the TV station. “Everybody in the neighborhood is on pins and needles. Even seeing delivery drivers and Amazon boxes on the porch right now. Especially while we don’t know very much.”
Authorities have said they determined that the packages involved in at least two of the explosions did not come through the United States Postal Service, and warned people to be careful with unexpected packages. The victims in the first two package-bomb cases were African-American, authorities said, and officials have not ruled out the possibility that the targeted attacks may have been hate crimes.
“We cannot rule out that hate crime is at the core of this but we are not saying that that is the cause,”Austin police chief Brian Manley said at a press conference Monday. Police have said they are treating both of those cases as homicides.

Authorities have not said whether the victim in the third attack is African-American.
In both of the fatal cases, the packages were left on a doorstep overnight and opened early in the morning.
“I want the public to be aware and to be cautious because we have two cases very similar with both resulting in loss of life,” Manley said. “If you receive a package not marked appropriately or from someone you know or were not expecting, give us a call.”

“This type of crime will not be tolerated in Austin,” the chief tweeted later Monday.
The Federal Bureau of Investigation and the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives are assisting local police forces with the investigation.

BREAKING NEWS! MASS SHOOTING AT A COUNTRY MUSIC FESTIVAL IN LAS VEGAS! 😢 😲

BREAKING NEWS! MASS SHOOTING AT A COUNTRY MUSIC FESTIVAL IN LAS VEGAS!

A gunman opened fire during a country music festival in Las Vegas on Sunday night — shooting multiple people with a high-powered assault rifle before fleeing the scene, according to reports.
At 100 people were shot, including 20 fatally, according to Reuters.
Las Vegas police responded to the Mandalay Bay Hotel and Casino at around 10 p.m. after receiving calls about an active shooter targeting concertgoers at the Route 91 country music fest.
About an hour later police confirmed at least one suspect is down.

“This is an active investigation,” they added
Cops were urging people to avoid the area as SWAT teams searched for the gunman.
Witnesses reported seeing a police officer down, but authorities couldn’t immediately confirm this.
University Medical Center spokeswoman Danita Cohen said the local hospital had taken in “several” people with gunshot wounds. She didn’t offer any more details.
One Las Vegas hospital reported treating at least 20 victims with gunshot wounds, according to KABC
Professional poker player and Instagram star Dan Bilzerian, who was at the concert, said on his IG story that he saw the shooting unfold and witnessed a girl getting shot right in front of him.
“Holy f–k this girl just got shot in the f–king head,” Bilzerian said. “So f–king crazy…So I had to go grab a gun, I’m f–king heading back…Some kind of mass shooting…Guy had a heavy caliber weapon for sure…Saw a girl f–king get shot in the face right next to me, her brains f–king hanging out.”
Another witness, who spoke to News3LV, recalled how “bullets were flying everywhere” and concertgoers were running.

“They were firing from somewhere high and they were unloading clip after clip after clip after clip,” the man said.
A female concertgoer added, “we all got on the floor, crawling out, rushing.”
Witnesses reported seeing muzzle flashes coming from the upper floors of the Mandalay Bay casino — across from where the convert venue was — and the sound of automatic gunfire.
Video footage captured at the concert showed festivalgoers cowering in fear and running for their lives as gunshots continue to ring out all around them.
The gunman reportedly opened fire during country music star Jason Aldean’s set, sparking chaos in the crowd.

“The band ran off stage and it was pandemonium,” attendee Jon Bessette told NBC News. “Everyone was running, people were getting trampled.”
Authorities were forced to shut down Las Vegas Blvd and divert lights on Sunday night as they hunted for the shooter.
Cops were reportedly descending on several casinos and businesses along the strip during the search.

UPDATE: MARY LOU DANLEY HAS BEEN CAPTURED

BREAKING: Brussels airport and metro station hit by BOMB BLASTS!

BREAKING: Brussels airport and metro station hit by BOMB BLASTS!
Two explosions have hit the Brussels Zaventem airport, killing up to 13 people and injuring dozens, hospital sources told local media.
Shortly after the airport blasts on Tuesday morning, an explosion also struck at a metro station in the centre of the Belgian capital, close to European Union institutions.Footage from the airport - the country's largest - showed people running from the terminal building as plumes of smoke rose to the sky.
The powerful blasts caused parts of the ceiling to fall down and windows were shattered.
All metro lines were shut down after the attacks. Some witnesses at the Maelbeek said people with blood on their faces were seen at the scene. There were conflicting reports on casualties, with Belgian media reporting several deaths.
The metro system was closed down after the attacks
Ian McCafferty, a witness at the station, said the blast happened during busy rush hour traffic.
"People started running when they saw smoke coming," he said. "The point of these attacks is to make you live in fear but I refuse to."
The interior ministry raised the country's terror alert to the highest level after the blasts and Brussels crisis centre told people, "Stay where you are".
State broadcaster VRT reported that a suicide bomber had detonated explosives at the airport.
Reuters news agency said shots were fired before the explosions went off.
Local media reported that the blasts happened near the American Airlines as hundreds of people were checking in.
"An eyewitness of the attack said that he heard loud explosions and as he heard it, he took cover. He said the explosions were very loud and it was the most frightening moment of his life," our correspondent said.

The country had been on high alert since the arrest in Brussels last week of  Salah Abdeslam, a key suspect in last year's Paris attacks that left 130 people dead.
Belgium's interior minister, Jan Jambon, said on Monday the country was aware of the risk of a possible revenge attack following the capture of 26-year-old Abdeslam.
"We know that stopping one cell can ... push others into action. We are aware of it in this case," he told public radio.

BREAKING NEWS! John Boehner To Resign From Congress!

BREAKING NEWS! John Boehner To Resign From Congress At End Of October!
It’s Official!  House Speaker John Boehner (R-Ohio) will resign from Congress at the end of October, his office announced on Friday.
In a statement, Boehner's office said that he had only planned to serve in Congress until the end of last year, but changed his plans when former Republican Majority Leader lost his seat.
"The Speaker believes putting members through prolonged leadership turmoil would do irreparable damage to the institution," his office said in a statement.

Boehner, who was first elected to Congress in 1990, has served as speaker since 2011.
This is a developing story. But I will admit I’m not sad! LOL!

BREAKING NEWS: Grand Jury Decides Not To Indict Cop In Eric Garner Case!

BREAKING NEWS: GRAND JURY DECIDES NOT TO INDICT COP IN ERIC GARNER CASE
A grand jury voted Wednesday not to indict NYPD officer Daniel Pantaleo in the chokehold death of Eric Garner on Staten Island.
Garner was stopped on suspicion of selling loose cigarettes in July, and amateur video shows the black man telling the officers to leave him alone before Pantaleo, who is white, used what appeared to be a banned chokehold.

The medical examiner found that the chokehold contributed to the death.
Attorney Stuart London said Pantaleo testified last month for a couple of hours.
"My client was gratified that they took the time to listen to everything he said and he knows his future is in their hands," London said.
Pantaleo's partner, Justin D'Amico, testified after being granted immunity from prosecution, he added.
Staten Island District Attorney Daniel Donovan told reporters Tuesday that jurors diligently listened to the evidence.
A small group of protesters marched in the cold outside U.S. Attorney's Office in Lower Manhattan Tuesday, the remnants of the Ferguson protests, but few doubt the larger demonstrations from last week will be back soon.
"When the decision comes down, regardless of what the decision is, there will be some demonstrations," Donovan said.
At a news conference Wednesday, Mayor Bill de Blasio urged any demonstrators to protest peacefully.
"I believe in the right to peaceful protest as part of a democracy, and anyone who has views as a result of whatever the decision is, if they want to exercise peaceful protest, we welcome that and respect that," he said. "But we also will keep order."
De Blasio also urged protesters to heed the message of Eric Garner's son, Eric Snipes.
"He said that anyone who wants to express themselves to do so peacefully," de Blasio said. "And for his own son, who lost his father, said honor my father by doing any protest in a peaceful manner, I thought it was very powerful. He was not just talking about how you go about making changes and reforms, he was talking about the nature of his own father as a peaceful man, and honoring his memory by being just as peaceful as that man was."
