The Daily Buzz For May 4

Diddy Covers Cigar Aficionado Magazine
Hip Hop mogul Sean “Diddy” Combs graces the June issue of Cigar Aficionado magazine where he opens up about hanging up his microphone…for good.
Yep, Diddy will be retiring from the music industry after he drops his final album (No Way Out 2) to focus on his film career. LOL! He told the magazine he plans on dropping the album then will do a last victory lap with a world tour.

He said (via PEOPLE), “I'm going to put out my last album and devote 100%of my time to doing films … I want to stop at a great place and a final album is a great place to stop. I want to take a victory lap, to do a world tour and really enjoy it once last time."

The Bad Boy honcho, who will appear as an advisor on “The Voice,” then talked about how his catalog of hits will keep his legacy alive. He explained:
"When I'm gone, only the songs will survive. I know I'm making music that will live on. I don't go into the studio just to be hot or to hear myself on the radio. Michael Jackson, Tupac, Biggie – part of them lives on in their music, even though they're not here anymore. That's really deep, man. The only thing like that is religion."

No word yet on when No Way Out 2 will be dropping, but we’ll keep you posted.

Diddy’s cover is on newsstands NOW.

#RHOA: Phaedra Parks Expresses Political Aspirations
*Everybody knows that Phaedra Parks is all about her business, but the “Real Housewives of Atlanta” star is also about the black community.
Her “Phaedra Foundation” includes such programs as Save Our Sons, and this summer will launch Camp Joy outside of Flint, MI for children affected by the city’s water crisis, according to RealityTea.

Beyond her charity endeavors, Phaedra has also expressed a desire to hold public office, telling the site that she always envisioned she’d be the insurance commissioner.

“I’m definitely moving more towards, maybe, an elected office,” she said.
“I’m not sure where I would be most helpful, but I just want to show people a renaissance woman much like myself, who has been through a lot of challenges, but also a lot of successes as well; [who] can use your voice not only for cattiness on a television show but to help people in a very positive way,” expresses Phaedra.

“We all live in America and we all want to have the American dream,” she adds. “Someone has to fight for the people who don’t have an opportunity to share in the dream that we should all be living.”

#EMPIRE Empire: Are Cookie and Lucious Getting Back Together?
Cookie (Taraji P. Henson) and Lucious' (Terrence Howard) are back together as business partners, and there's even a hint at a romantic reconciliation. But is it just set up for another epic Lyon brawl?

We got a few hints they might want each other back, from Hakeem's zinger -- "I ain't getting King Kong and Godzilla back together!" -- to Cookie's swipe at Lucious' almost side-piece Harper Scott (Annie Ilonzeh) -- "It smells fishy in here. You might want to send for some vinegar and water."
When Harper tries to shade Lucious for his devotion to Cookie, he checks her, shoves her and sends her on her way; later, Cookie and Lucious pretend like they're not still hot for each other, buy they're not convincing. These two are so Lemonade: a couple that spars at times, but are ultimately united in their war against everyone else. Cookie needs a thug and Lucious needs a ride-or-die chick. Where else would either of them go?

Six times Lucious Lyon reminded us he's basically the devil this season

By the end of it all -- after Anika (Grace Gealey) has been rushed to the hospital with pregnancy complications; Jamal (Jussie Smollett) and Michael (Rafael de La Fuente) look like they might rebound; Hakeem (Bryshere Gray) has a bottles-and-models orgy before his engagement is broken off and then back on again; and we get a glimpse of Becky (Gabourey Sidibe) (with the good hair?!) -- Lucious' shareholders decide they want to reinstate him, but only with Cookie as his partner.
"I think it's a fantastic idea," Lucious says, "I wouldn't have it any other way," before hugging Cookie and saying, "I got your back."
Of course, the ominous, shady look he gives when saying that suggests that's not true; we don't know what yet, but we can be sure Lucious has something sinister up his sleeve. He's a cunning manipulator, this guy, one who probably has The Art of War or The 48 Laws of Power on his nightstand.

He keeps enemies close, and since Cookie has more dirt on him than anybody and will do anything for her sons (including Andre (Trai Byers), who's just discovered his father had been lying to him about his grandmother), he definitely has reason to keep her in check. Theirs is the kind of toxic relationship that works only when there's juicy dysfunction going on--another pair of high-profile R&B singers comes to mind -- so we can bet on a storm following this calm.

The episode ends, after all, with a shot of Cookie's back, suggesting that's exactly what we should all be watching.

Empire airs Wednesdays at 9/8c on Fox.

#MUSICBOX: Keke Wyatt’s Emotional Cover of Prince’s ‘Diamonds and Pearls’ (Watch)
*Keke Wyatt teared up as she recorded her take on Prince’s 1991 single “Diamonds and Pearls” as part of her #KekeCovers performances.
“As an artist, Prince meant the world to me,” says Keke. “As I was singing ‘Diamonds and Pearls’, it hit me that he’s really gone. This song is so touching, and has always spoken to my soul. He was a musical genius and his legacy will live on in this world forever.”

The singer lays her signature runs throughout the Prince cover, which comes following the recent release of her fourth studio album “Rated Love.”

#UNBREAKABLE: Janet Jackson Releases “Dammn Baby” Lyric Video
Janet Jackson shocked fans everywhere at the beginning of April when she announced that she was postponing her world tour once again, and this time for the rest of the year, because she was starting a family with her husband Wissam Al Mana.

While she may not be out here promoting her 2015 comeback album Unbreakable as she originally planned, the iconic singer has released an official lyric video for the album’s next single, “Dammn Baby.” Almost an ironic choice if Janet is indeed pregnant.

The visuals don’t include any images of her, and keep to being mostly an electric light and sound wave theme with varying styles of text. In addition to the lyric video though, Janet teased what looks to be an official music video on her Instagram, just saying “Coming soon…”

So as we await that, learn all the lyrics to the club-ready single below, and stay tuned.

#NEWHIPHOP: Nipsey Hussle – ‘Ocean Views’
Drake isn’t the only one with Views. On Monday (May 2), Nipsey Hussle released his new single “Ocean Views.”
Rapping about smoking, flying, and expressing himself through music, the Crenshaw rapper lets fans see the ocean with him. Over a smooth instrumental by Mike & Keys and DJ Khalil, Hussle raps about why his circle is small with just a “chosen few.”

“Ocean Views” follows Nip’s “Thug Life” with Young Thug and “FDT (F**k Donald Trump),” his fiery collaboration with YG.

Ted Cruz IS OUT! suspends presidential campaign
(CNBC) Sen. Ted Cruz of Texas said Tuesday night that he was suspending his campaign to be the GOP presidential candidate, potentially ending any real battle for the party's nomination.

Earlier in the evening NBC News projected that Donald Trump would easily win the GOP primary in Indiana. Cruz was the only candidate to notch multiple state victories against the real estate magnate, surviving a crowded field of experienced politicians and political newcomers alike. (Sen. Marco Rubio of Florida had won three contests include Washington D.C. and Puerto Rico).
But the glow of those Cruz victories had faded after Trump won a resounding series of seven straight victories.

"From the beginning I've said that I would continue on as long as there was a viable path to victory. Tonight, I'm sorry to say, it appears that path has been foreclosed," Cruz said during a Tuesday night speech. "The voters chose another path, and so with a heavy heart, but with boundless optimism for the long-term future of our nation, we are suspending our campaign."

Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump speaks at a campaign event at The Palladium at the Center for Performing Arts in Carmel, Indiana, U.S. May 2, 2016.
Donald Trump projected to win Indiana primary: NBC News
Cruz and Ohio Gov. John Kasich were seeking to keep Trump from reaching 1,237 delegates, which would allow them to force a convention fight. That in turn could possibly mean someone other than Trump coming out of as the GOP's general election candidate.

But that result appeared less likely after Trump's strong Indiana showing.

"Obviously Trump's victory in Indiana makes the road ahead more challenging," a representative from the #NeverTrump PAC said in a Tuesday evening statement, adding that the group will continue to seek to oppose him.
For its part, the Kasich campaign said in a statement posted on Facebook that the Indiana results "are not going to alter" the candidate's plan.

"Our strategy has been and continues to be one that involves winning the nomination at an open convention," the Kasich campaign said.

Just after NBC announced Trump's projected victory, the New York real estate magnate tweeted out an insult aimed at Cruz.

Awwww, 'Dancing With the Stars' 2016: Kim Fields and Von Miller Voted Off!
Von Miller and Kim Fields are done dancing.

That was the result of the double elimination tonight on “Dancing With the Stars” during an episode in which competitors delivered two separate routines and two dancers -- “Good Morning America” meteorologist Ginger Zee and UFC fighter Paige VanZant -- earned the first perfect scores of the season.
With judges’ scores and viewer votes from last week’s performances were combined, Wayna Morris, Miller and Fields were all in jeopardy of going home tonight.

Fields and Miller ended up with the lowest combined totals, putting them out of the competition.
Speaking to a glum-looking Fields after the announcement, the show’s co-host, Tom Bergeron, said he could tell she probably didn’t see this coming.

“Not at all, didn’t see this coming, but I’m very grateful for this opportunity,” the actress said.
Miller, a football player, said the competition was “so much fun.” He praised the prowess of the other competitors and said he had formed a special relationship with his pro partner, Witney Carson.
Performers turned in an individual routine with each of their pro partners tonight before joining team dances. The men -- Team James Brown –- took on the women of Team Beyonce. Each team’s scores were added to each member’s overall score for the night.
Team James Brown’s spirited routine to a medley of James Brown songs gave them the edge over Team Beyonce, with the men earning 28 points and the women 25.
Tonight’s standout moments: Judges heaped their highest praise upon “GMA” meteorologist Ginger Zee’s ethereal Viennese waltz, giving it 30 out of 30 points -- the first perfect score of the season. Len Goodman said the routine was “like a cool breeze on a warm summer’s day,” and he commended Zee and the choreography of her pro partner, Val Chmerkovskiy. Judge Carrie Ann Inaba screamed for joy when the routine was over, said it was powerful and elegant, and judge Bruno Tonioli summed up his opinion in a few words: “Content. Style. Interpretation. Impeccable.”

They were equally impressed with Paige VanZant’s fiery jive, a crowd-pleasing routine that earned the MMA fighter 30 points and the judges’ congratulations. Tonioli deemed the routine “smoldering, scorching, almost illegally hot,” while Inaba called it “incredible.” While noting that it was easy to lose discipline with the speed of the jive, Goodman said VanZant’s performance was “UFC -– under full control.”

Judges’ Scores (1st dance; 2nd dance. Grand total.)

Nyle DiMarco and Peta Murgatroyd: 28; 28. 56

Ginger Zee and Val Chmerkovskiy: 30; 25. 55.

Wanya Morris and Lindsay Arnold: 27; 28. 55

Paige VanZant and Mark Ballas: 30; 25. 55

Kim Fields and Sasha Farber: 27; 25. 52. (They were voted off tonight.)

Von Miller and Witney Carson: 24; 28. 52 (They were voted off tonight.)

Antonio Brown and Sharna Burgess: 24; 28. 52

Jodie Sweetin and Keo Motsepe: 26; 25. 51

YIKES! Blac Chyna Reportedly Gets JACKED For $200K But is it An Inside Job?
Uh Oh!! It’s being reported Blac Chyna was robbed for thousands of dollars after someone broke into her safe. And law enforcement believes it could be someone close to the Lashed owner or her fiancé Rob Kardashian.
TMZ reports a robber stole more than $200K in cash and jewels from a safe inside Chyna’s home in Tarzana over the weekend. The thing is, there were no signs of forced entry, which leads police to believe someone close to either Chy or Rob may be the culprit.

$200K? Hmph. Lashed sales must be up and her hosting gigs must pay well.

Rob, who often stays at the home with Chyna, reportedly made the discovery and called the cops.

It’s interesting to note, news about a sex tape involving Blac Chyna and her ex-fiance Tyga is currently being shopped around. News of a sex tape being shopped around popped up today, so we wonder if the robbers also grabbed the tape. Chy’s lawyer Walter Mosley told TMZ if anyone releases the alleged tape, she will be suing, so whomever it is better lawyer up.
