#NewMusic from Chaka Khan Debuts New Song ‘Chakzilla’
Chaka Khan is back with new music. Seven years after releasing her last studio album, the legendary singer has returned with a new single called “Chakzilla.” The song was co-written with Sia, who is also on the background vocals.

In an interview with PEOPLE, the Rock & Roll Hall of Famer shared the inspiration for “Chakzilla.”
“When I was a kid, I really liked the Godzilla movies,” Khan explained. “When we came up with [‘Chakzilla’] as a title, lots of things just ran through my head and made a lot of sense.”

Khan went on to say that the character of Chakzilla is ” closer to what I am. I tried to make it true to who I am and what I’m about.”
In the visual for the song, Chaka is seen as the same size as Godzilla but with a different mission than the famous monster.
“Instead of becoming a monster and just tearing up things,” said Khan. “I became sort of a monster of a person who does good things.”

“Everything I can that is cuckoo and crazy and awry,” says Khan. “I’m trying to fix and help a lot of people who are having a really hard time in this world today. There’s lots of madness going on.”
While the visual is amazing, Khan said that it took a lot to make it happen.
“It was a lot of work,” she laughed. The “Tell Me Something Good” singer said how much she enjoyed co-writing with Sia, who came up with the title of the song.

“I would’ve never thought of that,” she says. “She’s clever. She comes up with lots of ideas.”
“Chaka is the Godzilla of chanteuses alive, and it was my honor to collaborate with her on this music,” Sia said in a statement.
Khan’s upcoming album, also called Chakzilla, is slated for release Sept. 18 via BMG Rights Management.

“It’s a really, really great album, a great CD with great songs. And t’s going to be on the pop dance side,” Khan said, “We’ve got lots of great people collaborating as well.”

#HipHopNews: Latto’s Retirement Album Set To Release On May 29: ‘Big Mama’
Latto has given the world of hip hop a lot to groove and break a leg to — and now, it is time to say goodbye with a final parting gift to the fans. Her fourth studio album, sadly, will be her last.

Titled Big Mama, the project has already captivated fans ahead of its release, which is set for May 29th. Through the cover, Latto revealed her pregnancy, and suddenly everything that happened over social media just now makes sense.

In a recent tweet on X, Latto confirmed that the project will indeed be her last, calling it her “retirement album.” While it is bittersweet, it is also great to see a good run come to a happy end. Let’s hope Latto is one of those artists that decide to come back to it after all. What do you think?

#SADNESS: Eight White Caskets: How Shreveport Said Goodbye to the ‘Eternal 8’

*They came with purple dresses and white balloons. They came with broken hearts and trembling hands. They came because there was nothing else to do but show up.
On Saturday, the sanctuary of Summer Grove Baptist Church held eight white caskets. Inside were eight children. The youngest was 3. The oldest was 11. In between were six other young lives taken by a single gunman who had once called them family.

This was the funeral for the “Eternal 8” — the victims of the deadliest mass shooting in the United States in more than two years.
Three women sat in the front row. Shanequia Elkins, Keosha Pugh, and Christina Snow had done what no parent should ever have to do. They planned a funeral for their children. Not one child. Multiple children.

Together, they had lost Sariahh Snow, Khedarrion Snow, Braylon Snow, Mar’Kaydon Pugh, Jayla Elkins, Shayla Elkins, Kayla Pugh, and Layla Pugh.
The mothers wore bright colors — purple, pink, white, blue — because someone decided the children would have wanted it that way. The foyer was filled with balloons, flowers, and memorial displays. Outside, horse-drawn carriages waited to carry the small white caskets to Forest Park Cemetery West.

“This is a nation mourning”

Mayor Tom Arceneaux spoke first. “Our precious angels were sons and daughters, grandchildren, classmates, and friends,” he said.
Then came U.S. Rep. Cleo Fields, who brought a message from Washington but also from somewhere deeper. “This is not a Shreveport mourning,” Fields told the congregation. “This is a nation mourning.”
He was right. People had traveled from across the country. Even former U.S. Rep. Gabby Giffords made the trip. She lost her political career to a bullet in 2011. She knows something about surviving gun violence. According to Fields, she came for one reason: “to let the family know that this pain is not just in Louisiana. This pain is all across the nation.”

The funeral program read like a yearbook for kids who never got to finish elementary school.
Jayla Elkins was “Jaybae.” Kayla Pugh was “K-Mae.” Mar’Kaydon Pugh was “K-Bug.” These were not formal names. These were names shouted across living rooms and playgrounds.

Khedarrion Snow had “a sweet and loving heart,” the program said. “Though his life on earth was short, his light was mighty.”
Layla Pugh was “bright, intelligent, bold, and full of love.” She made TikTok videos with her siblings and cousins. She was 11.

Kim Burrell’s message to the broken
The service included musical performances, prayers, and an open-casket viewing. But the moment that seemed to land hardest came from pastor and gospel singer Kim Burrell.
She looked at the mothers. She looked at the aunts and uncles and grandparents. And she addressed the question hanging over every pew: Why?

“To ask the question, ‘Why is this fair, God? How could you, Lord?’ He’s still God,” Burrell said. “The same God that healed you from the stuff that you don’t want to tell nobody about. But he is a God that doesn’t have to give us all the clues. Just know that he makes no mistakes.”
Then she turned directly to the families: “God’s got you. Okay. To the family, to the parents, to the aunts, uncles, cousins, grandparents. God’s got you.”

The shooter and the aftermath
The man who killed the children was Shamar Elkins. He used an assault-style weapon on April 19. Seven of the eight children were his. He wounded his wife and another woman. He injured another mother and her daughter as they tried to flee.

Then he drove to a friend’s home in Bossier City and killed himself.
The investigation continues. But for the families in that church on Saturday, the only question that mattered was how to keep breathing.

A promise from the city
Councilwoman Tabatha Taylor made a promise on behalf of Shreveport. “We stand with you,” she said. “Just know that the Eternal Eight would never, ever be forgotten in the city of Shreveport.”
A resolution from Gov. Jeff Landry was read aloud. Flags across Louisiana would fly at half-staff through May 17. “It is incumbent upon us to honor the memory of those lost by standing together against such senseless violence,” the resolution stated.

Doves and a final goodbye
After the service, horse-drawn carriages carried the eight white caskets to the cemetery. Someone released doves into the Louisiana sky.
Eight birds. Eight children. One community left to pick up the pieces.

The Eternal 8 are gone. But Shreveport has promised not to let them become a footnote.

Ne-Yo Reveals Losing Work Over His Polyamorous Relationship With 3 Women

Ne-Yo, the singer known for hits like "One in a Million," has opened up about how his unconventional love life has impacted his professional career. The artist shared that since publicly embracing his polyamorous relationship with three women, he has experienced setbacks in his work opportunities.

During the May 7 episode of the Sorry We're Cyrus podcast hosted by Tish Cyrus and Brandi Cyrus, the 46-year-old revealed that his polyamorous lifestyle has cost him deals and caused backlash. He explained, "The world is mad at the fact that I'm in a polyamorous relationship. There are people upset. There's deals that I missed out on because they're like, 'I don't know if we can get behind the whole polyamorous [thing].' It's like, 'Okay what?'"

Ne-Yo expressed confusion about why his personal relationship should affect his professional life. He added, "It's almost like you can be a great person and you can show respect and appreciation, but the second you do something that they don't agree with—cancel. And that just doesn't make any sense to me."
He emphasized that his polyamorous relationship, which he has shared publicly, involves Cristina, Arielle Hill, and Moneii. At one point, it even included a fourth woman. Despite the criticism, he believes that people would be more accepting if they took the time to understand the nature of his relationship.

Ne-Yo explained, "You have to witness it. 'Cause people say the dumbest stuff like, 'It's degrading.' Degrading to who? I'm not lying to nobody. Everybody is here by choice. Like who's being degraded? Who's being disrespected? What are you talking about?" However, he also admitted he tries not to give negative opinions more energy than necessary.

Since announcing his polyamorous relationship, Ne-Yo has been candid about his love life. In a recent Instagram post dated May 10, he paid tribute to his partners, celebrating their anniversary. He wrote, "Most can only dream of a love like this. Most can only imagine what it feels like to wake up smiling every morning, walking into whatever the day may bring loving life, knowing your team is strong and the love is real. To most it can only be a fantasy. BUT IT'S OUR REALITY. And I recognize you all as the blessings you are."

The artist also acknowledged that like any relationship, theirs has its challenges. He stated, "We've been US for about 3 years now. Had our ups and downs, rainy days, sunny days, etc. The good has absolutely outweighed the bad in every way. We are not yet what we ultimately need to be, we are ALL works in progress. But I will match your effort, I will lead with love and WE will continue to make life lovely for each other."

Despite the criticism from outsiders, Ne-Yo remains focused on his happiness and his partners. He concluded, "Let 'em say what they want to. We happy over here. And we will continue to be so. I LOVE Y'ALL WITH MY EVERYTHING!!"

Cardi B, Stefon Diggs Look Extra Cozy at Special Mother's Day Event
Cardi B is celebrating mamas without the drama.
Following past speculation that the rapper and Stefon Diggs broke up, the pair—who welcomed a son in November—were spotted showing off some PDA while posing for photos at the Diggs Deep Foundation's Mother's Day wellness event on May 9.

In a video shared to social media by sports journalist Kelsey Nicole Nelson, Cardi, 33, and Stefon, 32, were all smiles as they cozied up for the camera. While the "I Like It" rapper flaunted her curves in a body-hugging brown knit top and matching midi skirt, the ex-New England Patriots wide receiver—who wore a pale pink hoodie and jean shorts—could be seen putting his arms around Cardi's waist adoringly and giving her

And Cardi—born Belcalis Marlenis Almánzar—seemingly showed that she was a fan of the music at the event, which was put on by Stefon's own foundation. After all, the "Bodak Yellow" rapper could be seen singing along to Monaleo's "Putting Ya Dine."

Although neither Cardi nor Stefon—who were first romantically linked in February 2025—have yet to confirm the status of their relationship, the duo's moment at the special Mother's Day charitable event comes after the athlete supported Cardi at the April 8 stop of her Little Miss Drama tour at the Capital One Arena in Washington, D.C.

In videos shared to social media, Stefon was seen dancing with his mom Stefanie Diggs while Cardi performed on stage. And that wasn't all. After the concert, Stefon and Cardi were spotted leaving the "WAP" rapper's sold-out afterparty at Throw Social, according to online videos.

While the pair are remaining tight-lipped on where they stand, Cardi—who is also mom to Kulture, 7, Wave, 4, and Blossom, 20 months, with ex Offset—publicly called out rival rapper Bia after she made a comment about Stefon having six children with six different women.

"Just because I ain't f--king with my baby daddy," she said on stage during a February concert, per videos shared to social media, "doesn't mean you get to talk about my baby daddy!"

And as Cardi and Stefon reunited ahead of their first Mother's Day since welcoming their son in November, read on to see how other stars celebrated the holiday this year.

Caitlin Clark Hits Stage With Morgan Wallen & Sparks Racial Controversy

Caitlin Clark’s decision to walk on stage with Morgan Wallen at his Indianapolis concert sparked immediate outrage from social media users questioning her judgment.

Caitlin Clark faced immediate backlash after appearing onstage with Morgan Wallen at his Indianapolis concert on May 9, 2026, sparking intense criticism across social media.
The WNBA star’s decision to walk out with the country music artist ignited a firestorm of comments questioning her judgment, particularly given Wallen’s controversial history and the racial makeup of her own team.

X users didn’t hold back, with one posting, “So many of her colleagues are Black women. But she’s fine being cool with the bigot who freely uses the n word.”
The criticism cut deeper when another user pointed out the contradiction of Clark’s position, writing, “She plays a sport where many of her teammates and colleagues are black women & STILL made this decision. We knew she was racist, we knew White America was protecting her & infantilizing her compared to Angel Reese, but how do her teammates react and play with a racist?”

The Angel Reese comparison became central to the discourse, with critics pointing out how Caitlin Clark had been protected and elevated by mainstream media in ways Reese hadn’t experienced.
The Fever’s regular season opener against Dallas had already been eventful for Clark, who scored 20 points in 31 minutes during the 107-104 loss.

Wallen’s controversial past made the appearance particularly contentious.
In 2021, the country star was caught on video using racial slurs, an incident that nearly derailed his career before he made a comeback. Beyond that incident, Wallen threw a chair off a rooftop bar in Nashville in 2024, adding to his list of problematic behavior.

Yet despite these controversies, according to Yahoo Sports, Caitlin Clark still chose to share the stage with him, a decision that resonated poorly with observers who questioned her awareness of his background.
Clark isn’t the only celebrity who’s aligned with Wallen in recent years.

Drake featured the country artist in his “You Broke My Heart” music video in 2023, and Lil Durk collaborated with Wallen on “Broadway Girls,” which debuted at number one on the R&B/Hip-Hop Songs chart.

These collaborations showed that hip-hop’s biggest names were willing to work with Wallen despite his racial slur controversy, but the difference with Clark’s appearance was the optics of a young white athlete surrounded by Black teammates choosing to publicly associate with someone who’d used racist language.

Wallen’s attempt to move past his 2021 comments seemed irrelevant to X users who weren’t letting the moment slide.

Despite his efforts to rehabilitate his image and continue his career, Wallen remains a polarizing figure whose presence continues to generate controversy whenever he appears alongside other celebrities.

Chris Brown Thanks Fans for Supporting New Album Despite ‘Mixed Reviews’
Chris Brown responded to the reception of his latest album, thanking fans for listening while acknowledging that it has received divided reactions online.

The singer shared a message to his Instagram Story over the weekend addressing criticism and feedback tied to the release. In the post, Brown said he understands the varying opinions but believes time often changes how listeners connect with his music.

"Just wanna say thank you to everyone who listened to this album," Brown wrote. "Been a lot of mixed reviews and I can take my audience's criticism and opinions."
Brown then compared the current response to reactions surrounding several of his previous projects.

"The last 3 albums have came under the same scrutiny and it eventually grew on people," he continued. "Thank you for even taking the time out to listen."
The message was accompanied by a red heart emoji as Brown appeared focused on showing appreciation to supporters rather than pushing back against criticism.

Over the years, Brown's albums have frequently sparked debate among fans and critics, particularly for their lengthy tracklists and experimental mix of R&B, pop, hip-hop, and melodic music. Despite the mixed reactions, Brown's recent albums have continued to perform strongly commercially. Projects like Breezy, 11:11, and 11:11 (Deluxe) all landed high on the Billboard charts, with 11:11 later earning Brown a Grammy win for Best R&B Album.

Songs like "Call Me Every Day" featuring Wizkid, "Under the Influence," "Summer Too Hot," "Sensational" featuring Davido
Several songs from those releases also became streaming successes and fan favorites over time, such as "Call Me Every Day" featuring Wizkid, "Under the Influence," "Summer Too Hot," "Sensational" featuring Davido and Lojay, and "Residuals."

Dua Lipa Sues Samsung for $15 Million Over Unauthorized Photo on TV Boxes

Dua Lipa is suing Samsung after the brand allegedly used an image of her on its product packaging without her permission.
Variety reports that the lawsuit was filed on Friday (May 8) in the U.S. District Court for the Central District of California. In the suit, Lipa alleges that Samsung has featured a picture of Lipa performing on stage at the Austin City Limits Festival on packaging for TVs since 2025.

Lipa said when she discovered this, she reached out to have the picture removed from the packaging, but Samsung rejected her request.

“Ms. Lipa’s face was prominently used for a mass marketing campaign for a consumer product without her knowledge, without consideration, and as to which she had no say, control, or input whatsoever,” reads the complaint.
The commercial impact of Lipa’s image is also highlighted in the lawsuit, which includes screenshots of posts showing fans claiming that they bought the TV because of her.

“I was’t even planning on buying a tv but I saw the box so I decided to get it,” reads one post.
“I’d get that TV just because Dua Lipa is on it,” reads another. “That’s how obsessed I am. That’s how much I love her.”
Lipa’s lawsuit states that the singer has built a “premium brand” and is “highly selective” of product endorsements. She’s alleging a copyright violation, a violation of the California right of publicity, a federal Lanham Act claim, and trademark claims.

The singer has not addressed the lawsuit publicly.

CJ Wallace Wins Defamation Lawsuit Against Former Producer
CJ Wallace, the son of The Notorious B.I.G. and Faith Evans, has won a defamation lawsuit against his ex-producer.
On Wednesday (May 6), per court documents obtained by Complex, a default motion was entered, securing a win for Wallace against his former producer, Jonathan Hay. Last year, Wallace filed a defamation lawsuit after Hay gave interviews where he threw a number of now-officially-defamatory accusations at the son of the rap legend.

Among the accusations in the interviews were that Wallace had engaged in “sexual relations” with Diddy, the co-founder of Biggie and Evans’ former label, Bad Boy Entertainment; that Wallace witnessed or engaged in criminal behavior at Diddy’s “freak-offs”; and that Wallace set Hay up to be sexually assaulted by Diddy.

Wallace won his defamation suit by default after he unsuccessfully attempted to serve Hay seventeen times at two of his Florida addresses, followed by a substitute service, all of which Hay declined to respond to.

Throughout the legal proceedings, Wallace claimed that Hay’s allegations were preceded by a failed Biggie remix project. Wallace and Hay’s 2020 collaboration “Ready to Dance” was released as a single, but the remainder of songs went unreleased because of low interest, creative differences, and alleged “erratic behavior” from Hay. The project falling apart, Wallace said, led to Hay’s “calculated smear campaign.”

A separate sexual assault complaint (one that mentions many of the same alleged incidents Hay discussed in his interviews) was filed by Hay against Wallace and Diddy in Los Angeles Superior Court last July. That case is ongoing.

Druski’s ‘British Actors’ Skit Is So Funny It Started Another Diaspora War

*Druski just dropped a comedy nuke, and honestly? The timing is perfect. On May 7–8, 2026, the internet prince of goofy characters released his latest viral masterpiece, titled “British Actors are taking all the Roles,” and within 48 hours, it had already reignited the long-running, ever-exhausting “Diaspora Wars.” You know the one: Black Twitter vs. Black British Twitter. Accents vs. “authenticity.” Royal Academy of Dramatic Art (RADA) training vs. growing up on the block.

The skit is a production leap for Druski. This isn’t a shaky iPhone video in a fake club. It’s polished. High budget. And it stars Druski as a fictional Black British actor named Sampson DuBois from Manchester, England, who keeps landing every major Black American role in Hollywood.
The skit’s opening scene is a masterclass in cringe comedy. Druski’s character is on the set of a slavery movie called “Release the Shackles,” dressed in a raggedy costume, ready to deliver the most stereotypical “American slave” struggle face you’ve ever seen. The white director yells, “I need more American slave, Sampson.” Cue the punchline.

Sampson immediately breaks character, drops a thick Manchester accent, and starts calmly discussing “the struggle” and “back-and-forth banter” like he’s ordering tea. The way he flips between a perfect American drawl on camera and a proper British cadence off camera is absurdly accurate. One scene feels like a direct parody of “Snowfall,” and yes, we all know exactly who he’s teasing.

Naturally, the comments section turned into a battlefield. But the highlight? Damson Idris—the actual British actor who played Franklin Saint in “Snowfall” and is arguably the primary target here—hopped into the comments and wrote, “You ain’t sh*t 😂😂😂.” Druski replied, laughing. Lil Baby, Nick Cannon, and G Herbo all chimed in with cry-laughing emojis.

That’s the sweet spot. Druski isn’t being mean. He’s holding up a mirror. For years, Hollywood has cast Idris Elba (Stringer Bell in “The Wire”), Daniel Kaluuya (Fred Hampton in “Judas and the Black Messiah”), and Cynthia Erivo (Harriet Tubman) in quintessentially African American roles.
The comment sections across Instagram and YouTube have turned into a civil war, but mostly in a funny way. The majority of Black American commenters are screaming, “He ain’t lying! 😂.” One viral comment read, “It’s not even satire at this point — it’s facts.” Another user posted, “The way he switches accents is too accurate 💀,” which quickly racked up tens of thousands of likes.

However, the “Diaspora Wars” fuel is real. Several Black British fans pushed back, arguing, “British actors are just better trained,” and accusing Americans of “gatekeeping roles.” A handful of critics noted that Druski’s actual British accent in the skit was “diabolical,” but those voices are drowned out by the sheer volume of laugh emojis.

The consensus? Most people don’t care who plays the role as long as they are Black, but everyone agrees Druski is in his prime. From comparisons to classic “Key & Peele” sketches to demands for a Sampson DuBois spinoff, the skit is being celebrated as comedy gold, not a serious political dissertation.

Sampson DuBois for an Oscar. Or at least for the next season of “Power.”
