#RHOA: Check Out Photos of Kandi Burruss in & Juliet on Broadway
Recording artist, Real Housewives of Atlanta cast member, and Broadway producer Kandi Burruss joined the cast of Broadway's & Juliet for a limited engagement December 11 at the Stephen Sondheim Theatre.
Burruss, who succeeded TikTok star Cheryl Porter as Angélique, will continue through March 8, 2026. The company also welcomed Teal Wicks, who played Anne Hathaway in the touring company of & Juliet, to the same role in November. Wicks, who will continue through February 22, 2026, is temporarily replacing Alison Luff, who has taken a leave of absence to star in the new musical Wonder.

The Broadway company also currently features Gianna Harris as Juliet, Drew Gehling as Shakespeare, James Monroe Iglehart as Lance, Michael Iván Carrier as May, Liam Pearce as Romeo, and Nathan Levy as François.

Formerly a member of the R&B group Xscape, Burruss is a Grammy winner for writing the TLC hit "No Scrubs." She starred on The Real Housewives of Atlanta for 13 seasons, still one of the franchise's longest-serving cast members. She's since led spin-off reality series including The Kandi Factory, Kandi's Wedding, Kandi's Ski Trip, and Kandi and the Gang. She made her Broadway acting debut as Matron "Mama" Morton in Chicago in 2018, and has since focused on producing on the Main Stem, working on Thoughts of a Colored Man, The Piano Lesson, The Wiz, Othello, and the upcoming revival of Joe Turner's Come and Gone.

Nominated for nine Tony Awards, including Best Musical, & Juliet flips the script on the William Shakespeare classic, imagining what would happen next if Juliet hadn’t ended it all over Romeo. Featuring a book by David West Read, the score includes famous pop songs written by Max Martin, including “Since U Been Gone,” “Roar,” “I Want It That Way,” and “Confident.”

The production also has direction by Luke Sheppard, choreography by Jennifer Weber, musical supervision, orchestrations, and arrangements by Bill Sherman, scenic design by Soutra Gilmour, costume design by Paloma Young, lighting design by Howard Hudson, sound design by Gareth Owen, video projection design by Andrzej Goulding, hair, wig, and makeup design by J. Jared Janas, and musical direction and additional orchestrations by Dominic Fallacaro.

U.S. casting is by Stephen Kopel and Carrie Gardner.
The international hit, which opened at the Sondheim November 17, 2022 following a run in the West End, was the first new musical of the 2022–2023 Broadway season to announce its recoupment.

Trump says US will run Venezuela after Maduro seized
Venezuela's toppled leader Nicolas Maduro was in a New York detention center on Sunday awaiting drug charges after President Donald Trump ordered an audacious raid to capture him, saying the U.S. would take control of the oil-producing nation.
The image of the 63-year-old Maduro blindfolded and handcuffed en route to the U.S. has stunned Venezuelans and was Washington's most controversial intervention in Latin America since the invasion of Panama 37 years ago.

He is due to appear in a Manhattan court on Monday.
With memories of painful U.S. interventions in Iraq, Afghanistan and elsewhere, many world leaders were staggered at Trump's move, even though Maduro's standing was low given his autocratic rule and substantial evidence of vote-rigging.
Trump said the U.S. would for now manage the South American nation of about 30 million people plus its oil reserves, the largest in the world. But he gave few details of how.
"We will run the country until such time as we can do a safe, proper and judicious transition," he told a press conference at his Mar-a-Lago resort, hailing the extraordinary extraction of Maduro just as he was at the door of a safe room.

Maduro allies remain in charge in Caracas and have denounced his "kidnapping". To the disappointment of Venezuela's opposition and diaspora, Trump has given short shrift to the idea of 58-year-old opposition leader Nobel Peace Prize winner Maria Corina Machado taking over, saying she lacked support.
Machado was banned from standing in Venezuela's 2024 election and has said her ally Edmundo Gonzalez, who overwhelmingly won that vote according to the opposition and some international observers, should now take the presidency.

Once one of the most prosperous nations in Latin America, Venezuela's economy nosedived further under Maduro, sending about one in five Venezuelans abroad in one of the world's biggest exoduses.
They were largely jubilant at the exit of Maduro, whose security forces repeatedly crushed opposition protests. The former union leader, bus driver and foreign minister was the dying Hugo Chavez's handpicked successor as president in 2013.

"We are all happy that the dictatorship has fallen and that we have a free country," said Khaty Yanez, who lives in the Chilean capital Santiago. Trump says Maduro masterminded the flow of drugs into the U.S. and was illegitimately in power due to vote-rigging.
He denies those claims and top officials in Caracas have demanded his release, accusing the U.S. of an imperial lust for Venezuela's oil and mineral riches.

"There is only one president in Venezuela, and his name is Nicolas Maduro," Delcy Rodriguez, who took over Venezuela's interim presidency, said in a defiant message to the U.S. despite Trump's assertions she was open to working with them.
U.S. Special Forces swooped in on helicopters to seize Maduro and his wife Cilia Flores under darkness in the early hours of Saturday after strikes on military installations in Caracas and elsewhere.
While many Western allies oppose Maduro and say he stole Venezuela's 2024 election, there were numerous calls for the U.S. to respect international law and resolve the crisis diplomatically.
There were also questions over the legality of an operation to seize the head of state of a foreign power, while Democrats said they were misled during recent Congress briefings and demanded a plan for what is to follow.
Trump said as part of the takeover, major U.S. oil companies would move back into Venezuela and refurbish badly degraded oil infrastructure, a process experts said could take years. "We're not afraid of boots on the ground," he added.

It is unclear how Trump plans to oversee Venezuela where a court ordered Rodriguez, Maduro's vice president, to assume the interim presidency. In Venezuela, there was a rush for groceries and fuel as people wondered what would come next.
Maduro opponents were fearful of celebrating while some of his supporters held small rallies. Soldiers patrolled some parts.
The U.N. Security Council planned to meet on Monday to discuss the U.S. move, which Secretary-General Antonio Guterres described as "a dangerous precedent." Russia and China, both major backers of Venezuela, criticized the U.S.

"China firmly opposes such hegemonic behavior by the U.S., which seriously violates international law, violates Venezuela's sovereignty and threatens peace and security in Latin America and the Caribbean," China's foreign ministry said.
Trump's comments about an open-ended military presence in Venezuela echoed the rhetoric around past invasions in Iraq and Afghanistan, both of which ended in American withdrawals after years of costly occupation and thousands of U.S. casualties.
A U.S. occupation "won't cost us a penny" because the U.S. would be reimbursed from "money coming out of the ground," Trump said, referring to Venezuela's oil, a subject he returned to repeatedly during Saturday's press conference.
Trump’s focus on foreign affairs provides fuel for Democrats to criticize him ahead of midterm congressional elections in November, when control of both houses of Congress is at stake, with Republicans holding both by narrow margins.
Trump also runs the risk of alienating some of his own supporters, who have backed his "America First" agenda and oppose foreign interventions.

Diddy Quietly Pulls $61 Million Los Angeles Estate Off the Market While Incarcerated

Just days before his arrest last year, Diddy made a quiet but telling move, placing his 10-bedroom Beverly Hills mansion on the market for $61.5 million. The listing appeared in September 2024 and quickly drew attention. It was notable not only for the price but also for its timing amid escalating legal trouble. Not long after, the property vanished from public listings without explanation. This added another layer of uncertainty to Diddy’s financial and legal picture. The estate now sits in limbo, mirroring the broader questions surrounding his future.

During the trial, federal prosecutors repeatedly referenced the mansion while outlining their case against the Bad Boy Records founder. After nearly two months in court, Diddy was convicted in July on two counts of violating the Mann Act. This is a federal statute addressing the transportation of individuals for prostitution. He received a 50-month prison sentence, just over four years. Jurors declined to convict him on more serious charges that could have resulted in life imprisonment. The verdict closed one chapter but left the door open to continued legal challenges.

Diddy’s attorney, Mark Geragos, has publicly argued that the sentence warrants reconsideration. In an interview with NewsNation, he said, “I think there’s a potential there,” when asked about the possibility of early release. Geragos also questioned the fairness of the outcome. He added, “I think that’s fundamentally unfair,” while pointing to what he described as prosecutorial overreach. Those remarks have fueled speculation about the next phase of the case.

An earlier request for release in time for Christmas was denied by Judge Arun Subramanian. During the holiday season, Combs was visited at FCI Fort Dix by his son, Justin Combs, according to reports. The visit was described as reflective, focused on family, responsibility, and enduring a period of forced pause. As appeals loom and unanswered questions remain, both Combs’s legal fate and the status of his Beverly Hills estate continue to hang in the balance.

Nicki Minaj Deportation Petitions Reach Over 100k Signatures
Two petitions on Change.org in favor of Nicki Minaj’s deportation have reached over 100,000 signatures—specifically, 130,967 and counting. One petition, which was started by a user named Pedonika Minaj, appears to be a former fan of the rapper. Currently sitting at 86,150 signatures, this petition, which features photos of Minaj and several mugshots of her husband, Kenneth Petty, claims she is “spiraling out of control and seems to be experiencing psychosis.”

The second petition, named “Deport Nicki Minaj back to Trinidad,” is currently at 44,832 signatures. “Nicki Minaj’s actions and words have taken a turn that has left many of her supporters and those who once found solace in her music feeling deeply betrayed,” the petition reads. “Once a voice for the LGBTQ+ community, she has now flipped her stance, asserting outdated and harmful notions such as ‘boys should just be boys.’ These statements aren’t just insensitive; they undermine the very foundations of a community that looked up to her for advocacy and understanding.”

A few weeks back, Minaj sent social media into a tailspin after stopping by Turning Point’s AmericaFest. Throughout her conversation with Erica Kirk—the wife of late right-wing commentator Charlie Kirk—Nicki Minaj discussed her ongoing beef with California Gov. Gavin Newsom. The rapper also shared her thoughts on Donald Trump’s administration. Minaj specifically commented on Newsom’s support for gender affirming care for transgender youth. Not long ago, during an appearance on The Ezra Klein Show, Newsom said, “I want to see trans kids…I have a trans godson. There’s no governor who has signed more pro-trans legislation than I have. No one has been a stronger advocate for the LGBTQ community.”

During the event, Minaj decided to re-read one of her X posts where she criticized Newsom.“Imagine being the guy running on wanting to see trans kids, haha, not even a trans adult would run on that,” she read. “Normal adults wake up and think they want to see healthy, safe, happy kids — not Gav.” The Pink Friday rapper then made a call to action about “boys being boys.” She added, “There is nothing wrong with being a boy. How about that? How powerful is that? How profound is that? Boys will be boys, and there is nothing wrong with that.”

BIGXthaPlug Reportedly Escaped Shooting, But Friend Wasn’t So Lucky

The incident unfolded during the grand opening of the Pink House strip club in Dallas, where Big X the Plug was inside the venue for a performance appearance. While the rapper was inside the club, a shooting broke out that left one member of his group critically injured after being shot in the head. Reports say a total of four people were shot.

Reports indicate that BIGXthaplug was not struck by gunfire and was able to leave the scene safely. However, the situation quickly escalated as gunshots rang out inside or near the club, creating panic among attendees. The injured individual was described as someone who arrived at the venue with the rapper, raising concerns that the group may have been specifically targeted.

There has been no confirmation from law enforcement regarding a motive, suspects, or whether the shooting was directed at BigX. At this time, authorities have not released official details about arrests or the condition of the victim beyond initial claims of a head wound.

The shooting has reignited ongoing conversations within Hip-Hop about the risks surrounding nightclub and strip club appearances, particularly for high-profile artists who often attract attention simply by showing up. Artists frequently perform or make appearances at such venues without being direct owners or operators, despite public perception suggesting otherwise.
Big X has not publicly addressed the incident as of this writing. No official statement has been released from his team regarding the shooting or the status of the injured associate.

Stay safe, big fella!

‘Even Stevens’ Actor Steven Anthony Lawrence Claims He Was Fired From Universal After Reporting a Pedophile
Former child star Steven Anthony Lawrence, best known for playing Bernard "Beans" Aranguren on Disney Channel's Even Stevens, is alleging he was fired from his job at Universal Studios Hollywood after reporting what he says was a suspected pedophile around children.

Lawrence shared the claims in a lengthy Instagram post, explaining that he waited weeks before going public in hopes of resolving the situation privately.
"I delayed posting this for about a month because I was hoping we could find some sort of amicable solution because I absolutely loved performing and dancing with all you amazing people," he wrote.

According to Lawrence, his employment ended after he raised safety concerns internally. "It is with a heavy heart I have to announce that my time with Universal Studios has ended because my boss @vonblonde and her H.R. representative Julia.Mira@udx.comwants to retaliate for reporting a suspected pedofile around children," he alleged.

The former Disney actor said the decision to leave was painful, but one he felt was necessary given the circumstances.
"While I will truly miss my job I cannot be associated with an organization or people that don't care about performer or guest safety while numerous people continue to get hurt," he continued.

Lawrence ended his post with a stark warning directed at parents and families.
"With what I know, I WILL NEVER ALLOW MY KID TO GO TO UNIVERSAL STUDIOS HOLLYWOOD," he wrote, adding, "Be safe everyone."

The post quickly drew support from fans and fellow entertainers, including fellow Even Stevens alum Christy Carlson Romano, who praised Lawrence for speaking out.
As of now, Lawrence has not publicly shared documentation or evidence supporting his allegations. Universal Studios has not commented on the claims, and the individuals named in Lawrence's post have not responded publicly.

Evangeline Lilly Reveals She Has 'Brain Damage' After Suffering Beach Concussion

Evangeline Lilly has shared a shocking but hopeful update about her health in a new social media post.
On Friday (January 2), the Ant-Man star took to Instagram to share a reel detailing the results of a recent brain scan after suffering a concussion last May. At the time, the actor sustained multiple injuries, writing in a Substack entry that she had fallen "face-first into a boulder" while at a beach.

"I have had 'absent' and fainting spells since I was a little girl," Lilly wrote. "The doctors checked me for epilepsy when I was young and then settled on the idea of hypoglycemia (without doing any testing). For a good chunk of my life, I went with that – hypoglycemia."

But long after ruling out the glucose condition, in her Instagram reel, Lilly revealed that her "brain is functioning at a decreased capacity."
"So, I do have brain damage from the TBI [traumatic brain injury], and possibly other factors going on," she continued. "Now, my job is to get to the bottom of that with the doctors and then embark on the hard work of fixing it."
As defined by the National Institute of Neurological Disorders and Stroke, a traumatic brain injury is usually sustained by an "outside force," like a forceful bump or blow, which can result in temporary or extensive issues with brain functioning.

Lilly added that she doesn't look forward to undergoing medical care, as she often does "hard work." "That's okay, my cognitive decline since I smashed my face open has helped me to slow down and helped me to have a more restful finished 2025," she continued.
The Lost actor added that she's had "the most restful" holiday season in quite some time and that she's "extraordinarily grateful" to be alive.
"Verdict's in...I do have brain damage from my tbi," Lilly captioned her post. "Comforting to know my cognitive decline isn't just peri-menopause, discomforting to know what an uphill battle it will be to try to reverse the deficiencies."

Since her injury, Lilly has retired from acting and last starred in 2023 MCU flick Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania.

Janet Jackson Celebrates Son Eissa Turning 9 With A Gamer Cake
Watching celebrity kids grow up will always hit a little differently, and Janet Jackson just gave fans one of those full circle moments this weekend.
On Saturday, January 3, the music icon took to Instagram to celebrate her son Eissa’s 9th birthday, offering a rare and heartfelt glimpse into their world.

It was one of those soft posts that instantly stops the scroll.
Janet shared a photo of Eissa’s game controller-themed birthday cake, which felt perfectly on brand for a 9-year-old living in his gamer era.

Along with the photo, she shared a message that was equal parts loving, protective, and deeply personal.

This is the kind of milestone moment that reminds fans how quickly time is flying, especially for those who have watched Janet grow up in the spotlight herself.

Seeing her now in full mom mode hits right in the feelings.
Janet Jackson has long been intentional about keeping Eissa’s life private, which makes moments like this feel especially meaningful.
When she does share, it is never loud or performative, just love, pride, and a little cake that steals the show.

Happy 9th Birthday, Eissa!

Pastor Jamal Bryant Defends Wife, Addresses Misogyny and Double Standards During New Year’s Eve Worship
During a New Year's Eve worship service at New Birth Missionary Baptist Church, Pastor Jamal Bryant publicly defended his wife, Dr. Karri Turner, after she faced online criticism over the dress she wore to a recent UNCF fundraising event.

Dr. Turner had been criticized by some on social media who described her black dress with skin-tone meshing as "too revealing" and "unbecoming" of a pastor's wife, with others labeling her style as "worldly." Addressing the controversy head-on, Pastor Bryant used his New Year's Eve sermon-aptly titled "And Y'all Are Worried About a Dress"-to call out what he described as entrenched misogyny and double standards within church culture.

From the pulpit, Bryant challenged the fixation on policing women's bodies, arguing that such critiques distract from far more pressing concerns facing both the church and the broader community. He noted that while critics were quick to comment on attire, they largely ignored the significance of the UNCF event itself and the meaningful work being done to support education and opportunity.

Bryant further emphasized that Dr. Turner's contributions and character should not be overshadowed by superficial judgments, questioning why outward appearance so often becomes a focal point when issues of justice, equity, and service demand greater attention.

The incident has reignited a broader conversation about how women-particularly women in visible ministry or leadership roles-are scrutinized for their appearance. Dr. Turner is far from alone. Other prominent Christian women, including Erica Campbell, Meagan Good, and Jekalyn Carr, have also publicly faced criticism over their attire, sparking ongoing debates about modesty, gender expectations, and cultural double standards within the church.

Pastor Bryant's remarks were met with strong responses both in-person and online, with many applauding his willingness to confront what they see as harmful and outdated norms. As the new year begins, his message has prompted renewed reflection on how faith communities can better honor women-not by scrutinizing their clothing, but by affirming their calling, contributions, and humanity.

Eddie Murphy Reveals Why He Really Left Oscars 2007 Early After Losing Best Supporting Actor

Eddie Murphy is opening up about leaving the Oscars early back in 2007.
The 64-year-old actor and comedian was nominated that year for Best Supporting Actor for his role as James “Thunder” Early in the Dreamgirls movie. However, he lost the award to Alan Arkin, who won for Little Miss Sunshine.

During a recent discussion about his new Netflix documentary Being Eddie, he shared the real reason why he left the ceremony early after losing the award.
“What happened was I was at the Oscars, I had lost, and then people kept coming over to me and kept [patting] me on the shoulder,” he shared with EW. “Clint Eastwood came and rubbed my shoulder. And I was like, oh, no, no, I’m not gonna be this guy all night. Let’s just leave. I didn’t storm out. I was like, I’m not gonna be the sympathy guy all night.”

He even said he knew Alan was going to win as he had seen Little Miss Sunshine several months before it was released.
“Jeff Katzenberg invited me over to see Little Miss Sunshine six months before it came out in the theaters, and I literally watched the movie and I watched Alan — and I hadn’t been nominated or anything yet — and I watched the movie and I turned to Jeff afterwards and I said, ‘Now that performance right there is one of those performances that will steal somebody’s Oscar,’” Eddie recalled. “I said those exact words. I was like, ‘He could steal somebody’s Oscar,’ then he stole mine.”

“No, I don’t feel like he stole mine,” he then clarified with a laugh.
The comedian has come to understand that a performance isn’t just the thing that will get you the Oscar.
He calls it “more art than science. It’s not like oh, you do this, and you do that, and you win the Oscar. No, it’s all this intangible stuff that comes with winning: campaigning and your past stuff and what do they owe you and s—. All of that stuff comes into play when you get Oscars.”

“When you add all of that stuff into it, he totally deserves his Oscar for his whole career. He’s an amazing actor,” Eddie gushed of Alan.
Last summer, Eddie responded to rumors that his Norbit role is what cost him the Dreamgirls Oscar.

Barry Manilow Posts Selfie from Hospital Bed, Shares Update Following Lung Cancer Diagnosis
Barry Manilow is sharing an update on his health amid his cancer battle.
A few weeks ago, the 82-year-old “Copacabana” singer revealed that doctors found a cancerous spot in his left lung and he was undergoing cancer treatment.

On Friday (January 2), Barry took to Instagram to share an update on how he’s doing.
While sharing a selfie of himself wearing a green gown in a hospital bed, Barry captioned the post, “Better today!”
In the comments section, Barry‘s backup singer Melanie Taylor showed her support, writing, “That’s my boss y’all! He’s making it through the rain! Love you B!🙏🏽🙏🏽🙏🏽”

His drummer Matt Sorum added, “Heal up Barry, much love.”

O.J. Simpson Estate Can’t Pay $58M Goldman Claim
Fred Goldman’s $58 million creditor claim against O.J. Simpson’s estate has been officially accepted, though the estate cannot pay the full amount owed from the 1997 civil judgment.

Estate executor Malcolm LaVergne filed documents approving Goldman’s claim for $57,997,858.12 plus interest, representing a major development in the decades-long financial dispute. According to TMZ, LaVergne acknowledged that the full debt can not be paid during an appearance on “TMZ Live” in November, stating, “The reality is the estate currently doesn’t have that kind of money and, practically, the estate probably will never have that kind of money.” Despite the shortfall, he explained the acceptance wasn’t about affordability but validity of the claim itself.

“The money doesn’t take away the colossal pain the Goldmans have suffered, but at least it gives them some sense of justice in taking the blood money from O.J.’s estate and ensuring they’re holding all parties responsible,” an insider told RadarOnline.com.

The approved figure of $57 million stems from a Nevada claim filed in 2021 and is significantly lower than Goldman’s initial request of $117 million. LaVergne indicated the total could increase by an additional $25 million or $30 million once interest calculations are completed. He committed to paying what’s possible, saying, “The debt is acknowledged, and they will get the lion’s share of whatever it is after I finish paying the statutory fees.”

The estate plans to satisfy the debt through ongoing auctions of Simpson’s possessions. LaVergne told TMZ that some items may have been stolen and he’s coordinating with attorneys to recover them.
A representative for the Goldman family emphasized that the claim’s acceptance is procedural. “The Executor’s acceptance of the claim is a positive acknowledgement of the debt; however, it does not constitute payment. This acceptance simply allows the administration of the claim to move forward in probate. We will continue to monitor the probate process as it progresses.”

Simpson was acquitted in 1995 of murdering Nicole Brown Simpson and Ron Goldman, Fred’s son, who were stabbed to death outside Nicole’s Brentwood home in June 1994. A civil suit found Simpson liable, resulting in a $33.5 million largely unpaid judgment.

Woman Exposes James Harden And Demands Support For Alleged Newborn Son

James Harden is facing some heavy heat off the court as a woman has come forward with major claims regarding a secret addition to his family.
A woman identified on social media as Kelsea M. (@_twinkjm) has officially taken to Instagram to put the Los Angeles Clippers star on blast.
In a explosive posts shared on January 2, 2026, Kelsea alleged that Harden is the father of her newborn son and has been failing to provide the necessary support despite being aware of the situation since the beginning.

Kelsea made it clear that she is finished keeping secrets to protect the 36 year old’s public image.
“I don’t like bringing things to the internet, but I’m done protecting an image that doesn’t reflect the reality. You’ve known since day one, and you are just as responsible as I am. I stayed quiet because I wanted to handle this the mature way—but that only works when both people are acting like adults. Being the bigger person doesn’t mean carrying everything alone. It’s time for you to step up and take care of your son.”

While she is demanding accountability now, Kelsea has been documenting her journey for some time. Her Instagram page features several photos of her pregnancy, showing that she has been preparing for the arrival of her son while keeping the identity of the father under wraps until now. The sudden decision to go public has sent shockwaves through the sports world, especially given Harden’s recent transition into a more vocal family man.

The timing of these allegations is particularly messy considering Harden’s recent romantic reveals. In the latest season of the Netflix documentary Starting 5, Harden gave fans a rare look into his personal life, gushing over his relationship with girlfriend Paije Speights.

During the series, the NBA star admitted, “I’m in love,” and discussed his “dad era” while mentioning his 6 year old son, Jace, and a new baby he was expecting with Speights.
If Kelsea’s claims hold weight, it would suggest that Harden’s “dad era” is a bit more complicated than the documentary portrayed. While Speights has recently sparked marriage rumors by referring to Harden as her “husband,” this new paternity drama is threatening to disrupt their public bliss.

Whether this leads to a private resolution or a high profile child support case, Kelsea M. is making it known that she will no longer be carrying the responsibility of parenthood alone.

Montgomery community mourns death of Pastor DaQuarius Green after Level Plains shooting
The Montgomery community and church leaders across the Wiregrass are mourning the death of Pastor DaQuarius Green, who died Saturday after being shot days earlier in Level Plains.
Green, 31, was widely known in Montgomery for his ministry and outreach, even though the shooting happened outside the city.

According to the Dale County Sheriff’s Office, Green was shot during a domestic incident inside a home in the Freedom Heights neighborhood off Rucker Boulevard in Level Plains on December 23. He later died in the hospital. Authorities say no charges have been filed, and the case remains under investigation.
Minister DiVonta Palmer, a fellow pastor and friend, says Green was someone he crossed paths with often through church and everyday life.

“We weren’t best friends or anything like that,” Palmer said. “But when I would see him, whether at church or at Walmart, we always talked.”
Palmer says their conversations frequently centered on faith, family, and fatherhood.
“He was telling me how fatherhood had changed him,” Palmer said.
To Palmer, Green was someone who carried himself with humility and purpose.

“To me, the man was a humble man, an honest man, a man who deeply loved God and his family,” Palmer said. “We ran in the same church circles, and every interaction mattered.”
One moment stands out most to Palmer; when Green surprised him by showing up at his church unannounced.
“He tapped me on the shoulder and said, ‘Brother Palmer,’” he recalled. “I had no idea he was coming. That meant a lot.”
Palmer says learning about Green’s death was devastating.
“I couldn’t believe this happened to him,” Palmer said.

Despite past legal matters that were ultimately dismissed, friends say they remember Green as a man committed to his faith, his family, and a life of service.
“He was human,” Palmer said. “A man of God. A father. A husband. He did not deserve to die.”
Green was identified in a Facebook post as the pastor of Elba Zion Missionary Baptist Church. In a statement, the church thanked God for Green’s service and spiritual leadership, asking the community to keep his family and congregation in prayer.

A prayer vigil was held Sunday in Green’s honor.
Authorities say the investigation into the shooting remains ongoing.
If you or someone you know is experiencing domestic violence or needs help, the National Domestic Violence Hotline is available 24/7 at 800-799-SAFE.
