#MusicNews: Samara Joy Releases “Flor de Lis (Upside Down)” Ahead of South American Tour

Five-time Grammy Award winner Samara Joy has released a new single, “Flor de Lis (Upside Down),” a fresh take on the Brazilian classic originally written by Djavan nearly 50 years ago. Sung in Portuguese and arranged by Joy’s drummer Evan Sherman, the track pays tribute to Brazil’s enduring influence on jazz, arriving just ahead of Joy’s tour dates in South America, July 27 through August 2. The “Flor de Lis (Upside Down)” cover artwork features a painting by Brazilian illustrator Anna Cunha.
“Although it’s a heartbreaking story, the poetic lyrics and beautiful melody resonated with me immediately,” says Joy. “I got the chance to sing ‘Flor de Lis’ in Rio during my first trip there over a year ago and hearing the audience join in harmony only cemented how important this song is to the fabric of Brazilian music and culture. In this new arrangement by drummer Evan Sherman with a beautiful painting as the cover by Brazilian illustrator Anna Cunha, we hope to show our appreciation for the impact that Brazilian music has on our artistry as well as the impact it continues to have on the world.”

About Samara Joy:
A native of the Bronx, Samara Joy became entranced by classic R&B as a child and cut her teeth as a singer in her church’s gospel choir. And while her family history is deeply musical — her grandparents helmed the Philadelphia gospel group the Savettes, and her father, the musician and songwriter Antonio McLendon, has produced, composed and arranged his own astounding original work — she didn’t delve into the jazz tradition until college at SUNY Purchase. During her studies there she won the 2019 Sarah Vaughan International Jazz Vocal Competition, which introduced her to the larger jazz scene as a rising star to watch. She was heard, by audiences and critics alike, as a masterful interpreter of jazz standards and a rightful heiress of the sound, technique and charisma that defined her jazz heroines — including Vaughan, Betty Carter, Abbey Lincoln and Carmen McRae.
Joy released her self-titled debut on the Whirlwind label in 2021, followed a year later by Linger Awhile, her breakout Verve debut, of which DownBeat said, “With this beautiful recording, a silky-voiced star is born.” The album earned her a Grammy for Best Jazz Vocal Album in addition to a headline-making win for Best New Artist. A deluxe edition of the album was released, as well as the EP A Joyful Holiday, which won two Grammy Awards for Best Jazz Vocal Album and Best Jazz Performance (“Twinkle Twinkle Little Me” feat. Sullivan Fortner).
Her latest Verve album, Portrait, which Joy co-produced with the veteran trumpeter/bandleader and multi-Grammy winner Brian Lynch, showcases the intimate, soulful chemistry she’s developed with her touring band. Portrait also spotlights her burgeoning gifts as a lyricist, in ingenious arrangements that meld her thoughtful words with music by Charles Mingus, Sun Ra and her late mentor Barry Harris.

#HipHopNews: Cam’ron Announces He Will Be Releasing A Memoir
Cam’ron has announced that he is writing a memoir for publishing giant Simon & Schuster after inking a $750,000 deal.
The book will chronicle the Dipset legend’s rise in Hip Hop and late career pivot to being a successful media personality with his own talk shows.
Killa Cam’s memoir will also take fans behind the scenes on some of the most iconic moments throughout his eclectic life and career.
In a statement, Cam said: “I’m happy to have this deal done. Hopefully the book will be released February of 2026 and that everyone can take something from my memoir when they read it.”
The memoir does not yet have a title.
On the subject of Cam’s writing skills, he recently claimed that he originally penned “I Really Mean It” for Lil Kim.
Speaking on a recent episode of his sports talk show It Is What It Is, Cam revealed: “I did write a song for Lil’ Kim and she didn’t want it, and the lyrics changed and I ended up keeping it for myself.”
He continued: “It was one of my biggest records, but I wrote ‘I Really Mean It’ for Lil’ Kim. Same format, and she didn’t like it. That’s one of the best things, ’cause that’s one of my close-out songs, to be totally honest with you, and she didn’t want the song. I’m happy she didn’t.”
Killa Cam also said he was behind 3LW hit “No More (Baby I’ma Do Right)”.
He said: “I wrote for 3 Little Women. The single, I’m in the credits, I wrote that. ‘Promises, promises’? That’s me. I penned that joint. We’re real creative, just tap in, man.”
Conversely, former Dipset member Jim Jones has claimed that he wrote on “every” Cam’ron album as the two continue feuding.
Sitting down for a chat on Way Up with Angela Yee, Jones said: “I helped him write every one of his albums. Every one of his albums. From his first album up to Come Home With Me.”
He added: “I always knew how to rap, I just didn’t know how to rap good. I always knew how to do bars. Yeah, I done near write all his music. And I commend him for figuring out how to do something else.
“They always say never bite the hand that feeds you but he never fed me, I fed myself.”

BREAKING: Sean ‘Diddy’ Combs found guilty on 2 of 5 counts in sex trafficking trial

Jurors in the federal criminal trial of Sean "Diddy" Combs on Wednesday morning found the hip-hop mogul guilty of two of the five counts filed against him, acquitting him of the other three.
The 12-member panel acquitted Combs of racketeering and sex trafficking, but found him guilty of prostitution-related offenses.
After the verdict was read, Judge Arun Subramanian adjourned court while he weighs whether to grant Combs bail before sentencing. The 55-year-old, who could have been sentenced to life in prison had he been convicted of racketeering or sex trafficking, now faces a maximum of 10 years in prison.
The jury spent more than 12 hours across three days deliberating the case. On Tuesday afternoon, the panel said that it had come to an agreement on counts two, three, four and five — sex trafficking by force, fraud or coercion, and transportation to engage in prostitution — but was unable to reach a verdict on count one: racketeering conspiracy.
An hour into its deliberations Wednesday, the jury sent a note telling the judge that it had reached a verdict on all five counts.
Follow the live blog below for the latest updates culled from various reporters and news organizations in the courtroom, including ABC News, the Associated Press, CNN, NBC News, the New York Times and USA Today.
After the jury's verdict was announced, Combs's supporters celebrated outside the courthouse.
One woman held up a T-shirt that read "A freako is not a R.I.C.O" — a reference to the racketeering conspiracy charge that Combs was acquitted of. Another supporter put on a T-shirt emblazoned with the logo of Combs's Sean John fashion label.

The two charges Combs has been convicted of both carry a maximum of 10 years in prison. Depending on what Judge Arun Subramanian decides at a later sentencing date, Combs faces up to 20 years in prison.
Before he was escorted out of the courtroom, Combs turned and faced the spectators' gallery where his family was sitting and applauded them before heading over to hug them.
"Love you, Mom," he said to his mom, Janice. "I love you, I love you, I love you."
After Combs left the courtroom, the family group chanted "dream team" to the defense lawyers. Defense attorney Teny Geragos walked over and hugged the family members.

Jury in Diddy’s sex trafficking trial to resume deliberations after reaching partial verdict

(AP) The jury in Sean “Diddy” Combs’ sex trafficking trial is set to resume deliberations Wednesday after reaching a yet-to-be-disclosed verdict on all but one of the five charges the hip-hop mogul faces.
U.S. District Judge Arun Subramanian ordered the jury to continue its closed-door discussions for a third day after the panel of eight men and four women said Tuesday that it was unable to reach consensus on the top count: racketeering conspiracy.
The judge agreed with prosecutors and Combs’ defense team that less than 13 hours of deliberations was too soon to give up on reaching a verdict on all counts.
The jury’s decision on the other charges — two counts of sex trafficking and two counts of transportation to engage in prostitution — remains under wraps for now.
In a note to the court late Tuesday, the jury said “unpersuadable opinions on both sides” among some jurors had prevented the group from reaching a unanimous verdict on the racketeering conspiracy charge.
Racketeering conspiracy is the most complicated charge in the trial and carries a potential maximum sentence of life in prison.
The sex trafficking charge carries a mandatory minimum sentence of 15 years in prison and a maximum sentence of life. Transportation to engage in prostitution carries a maximum sentence of 10 years in prison.
The disclosure of the jury note about the partial verdict seemed to put defense attorneys and their client in a dour mood even before it was read in open court by the judge.
Eight defense lawyers formed a half-circle behind Combs as the smiles and lighthearted mood that accompanied the arrival of other jury notes over two days seemed absent as the attorneys contemplated the possibility that jurors had reached agreement on counts that carry the heaviest sentencing penalties.
Combs, 55, appeared morose as his lawyers spoke with him. At one point, the hip-hop mogul solemnly read a piece of paper that attorney Marc Agnifilo handed to him.
After the jury came in for instructions and then exited the room, a subdued Combs sat in his chair for a few minutes. As he stood to leave, he faced his relatives and supporters in the audience, blew a kiss and tapped his heart, as he frequently has done at the start and end of each day.
Then he paused before his mother and exchanged a few words, telling her, “Love you” and “I’ll be all right.”
Marshals then led him from the room.
Earlier in their deliberations the jury asked to review testimony from Cassie, the R&B singer who was Diddy’s former longtime girlfriend, as well as from Daniel Phillip, a male stripper Diddy is accused of paying to have sex with Cassie.
Prosecutors say Combs coerced two girlfriends into drug-fueled sex marathons with male sex workers.
Lawyers for the Bad Boy Records founder contend prosecutors are trying to criminalize Combs’ swinger lifestyle. They say his conduct, if anything, amounted to domestic violence, not federal felonies.
Combs, who chose not to testify, has pleaded not guilty.

Chris Brown Settles Lawsuit With Assault Victim
Chris Brown has settled a lawsuit filed by Abe Diaw who accused the controversial singer of striking him with a bottle of alcohol in London in 2023.
Diaw has filed to voluntarily dismiss the lawsuit with prejudice meaning that it can’t be refiled, a common sign when a settlement has been reached between two parties.
Brown and Diaw have yet to comment on the end of the lawsuit but the “With You” singer still faces criminal charges over the incident.
Brown was arrested in May in Manchester, England and charged with grievous bodily harm with intent related to an incident in a London nightclub in 2023.
He was originally denied bail and remanded in custody until June 13, just two days before the start of his Breezy Bowl tour in the same city he was arrested in.
However, the judge later changed their mind and agreed to release Brown if he paid almost $7 million in bail money.
Brown has to abide by a number of strict conditions as per his release.
As well as the nearly $7 million sum, he must live at an address in the UK up until his trial and surrender his passport to the authorities.
However, he will be allowed to travel internationally for the purpose of his tour.
In his initial lawsuit, Diaw alleged Brown had inflicted severe and lasting injuries” on him after “beating him over the head” with a bottle of tequila.
Brown was also accused of “ruthlessly” stomping on Diaw’s head while he was on the ground which resulted in him being knocked unconscious.
The incident was caught by CCTV which is now in the hands of prosecutors who describe the situation as “extremely serious”
Diaw further accused Brown of “spreading false rumors” about him in the aftermath of the alleged incident.
Brown later referenced his arrest during his show in Manchester, thanking the prison he was held in after being taken into custody.
He said: “I just want to tell you all, I love you all to death, I am so thankful that I could come out here tonight. Thank you all for having me and supporting me and thank you to the jail, y’all was really nice.”

JAY-Z’s Defamation And Extortion Lawsuit Against Tony Buzbee Gets Dismissed

JAY-Z‘s campaign against Tony Buzbee has run into a snag. A California judge dismissed his extortion and defamation lawsuit against the controversial attorney.
Mark Epstein, a Los Angeles County judge, admitted he was not “wholly satisfied” with his decision in a new 65-page ruling, per Rolling Stone. Epstein said he had to weigh the “competing interests at play,” but would ultimately leave the final decision in the hands of the Court Of Appeal. So, despite making this decision, he ended his ruling saying to “stay tuned.”
Hov sued Buzbee last year after the rape accusations against him were dropped, which the Texas lawyer was a driving force behind. The Brooklyn rapper claimed that Buzbee knew he was operating on false information, yet still proceeded with the suit. He also accused the 56-year-old attorney of contacting him on two separate occasions to demand money before adding him to Diddy’s rape lawsuit, which Hov believes was due to him not handing over the requested money.
The “99 Problems” rapper’s legal team was not pleased with Judge Epstein’s decision. “We are surprised and disappointed by this ruling which turns on the misapplication of California law on the admissibility of the investigators’ statements,” his lawyer, Alex Spiro, told Rolling Stone.
“Notably, the Judge expressly states that his decision would have ‘change[d] dramatically’ if he had admitted the statements into evidence as they would have shown ‘not only that Carter had nothing to do with any sexual assault on Doe, but that Buzbee knew it…’ and thus ‘the court would come out the other way on this motion.’ What does it say about our justice system if someone can knowingly bring about completely false claims of the most heinous nature imaginable against an innocent individual and get away with it on a technicality?”
Buzbee, on the other hand, was thrilled to be on the right side of a dropped lawsuit this time around. “Yet another huge win!!” he wrote on X. “John Doe’s case against me and The Buzbee Law Firm alleging extortion and defamation was thrown out by the court. As I said when it was filed, the case was completely meritless. We will now seek attorneys’ fees against John Doe for bringing the legally flawed case.”

Coco Gauff is disappointed by her Wimbledon loss but doesn't want to dwell on it
Before Wimbledon began, Coco Gauff reflected on the significance of her breakthrough performance at the place six years ago — a run to the fourth round at age 15 — and what aspirations she harbored as she prepared to return.
“Even when I see videos of me during that time, it just doesn’t feel like it’s me. It felt like a dream. I’ll always have special memories from that run and, I guess, it definitely fueled the belief that I can be on tour and live out my dream,” she told The Associated Press.
“It’s something that always holds a special place in my heart. Obviously, I would love to win this tournament just for it to be like a full-circle moment,” she continued. “I feel like it would be like the start of the dream, and — I don’t want to say ‘the finish,’ because I obviously have a lot of career left, but — a full-circle type of situation.”
A week after that conversation, the No. 2-ranked Gauff was out of the bracket at the All England Club in the first round with a 7-6 (3), 6-1 loss to unseeded Dayana Yastremska at No. 1 Court on Tuesday night. Gauff was undone by serving troubles, including nine double-faults, and more than two dozen unforced errors in all, not to mention Yastremska's hard, flat groundstrokes.
It was an abrupt, and mistake-filled, exit for Gauff, who so recently earned her second Grand Slam title — at the French Open via a three-set victory over No. 1 Aryna Sabalenka in the final.
After Tuesday's defeat, Gauff said, “I definitely was struggling in the locker room. I don’t like losing. The main thing I’m sure my team and everyone is going to tell me (is): 'You did well at Roland-Garros. Don't be so upset.' Things like that.”
But as much as she'll want to move on and focus on what's to come, the 21-year-old American acknowledged as she dabbed away the tears welling in her eyes during her news conference that she felt “a little bit disappointed in how I showed up today.”
It's instructive to remember — setting aside that captivating 2019 debut, which featured a victory over Venus Williams — that Wimbledon's grass courts actually have produced Gauff's least successful Grand Slam results.
Yastremska's take? She said she considers Gauff “much better on clay court and hard court than on grass.”
This was the second time in the past three years that she was sent home in the opening round. She's never been past the fourth round at the All England Club, whereas at every other major tournament, including the hard-court Australian Open, she's at least reached the semifinals.
Her first Slam trophy arrived on the hard courts of the U.S. Open in 2023 when she was 19. She already was the 2022 runner-up on the red clay at the French Open before going one step better this time.
Sabalenka's self-described “unprofessional” comments after last month's title match in Paris became a real topic of conversation and, perhaps, a distraction. Gauff and Sabalenka sought to put it behind them — and tell fans they should, too — by filming TikTok videos together once they got to Wimbledon.
“I was a little bit overwhelmed with everything that came afterwards,” Gauff said, “so I didn’t feel like I had enough time to celebrate and also get back into it.”
It's not easy to manage the tricky transition from the Roland-Garros clay to the Wimbledon grass. There's a reason it's been a decade since a woman won both in the same season — and a reason that woman was Serena Williams.
By the end of the night, Gauff was eager to look ahead to the upcoming North American hard-court circuit, culminating with a trip to New York in late August.
“I mean, obviously I’m not going to dwell on this too long, because I want to do well at the U.S. Open. Maybe losing here (in the) first round isn’t the worst thing in the world,” she said, “because I have time to reset.”

UPenn Revokes Trans Swimmer Lia Thomas’ Records Due To Trans Athlete Ban
The University of Pennsylvania will retroactively revoke swimmer Lia Thomas’ records and titles following a deal with the Trump administration’s Education Department, which demanded compliance with bans on transgender athletes in women’s sports.
In 2022, Thomas made history as the first transgender athlete to win an NCAA Division I title. However, the administration threatened to withhold $175 million in federal funding unless the university reversed course.
“Today is a great victory for women and girls not only at the University of Pennsylvania, but all across our nation,” said Education Secretary Linda McMahon. “We will continue to fight relentlessly to restore Title IX’s proper application.”
Going forward, Penn will reassign awards given to trans athletes and prohibit athletes from competing based on gender identity.
“Our commitment to ensuring a respectful and welcoming environment… is unwavering,” said university president J. Larry Jameson, while stressing compliance with federal rules. Athletic facilities will now be “strictly separated on the basis of sex,” Penn added.

NBA Star Shai Gilgeous-Alexander Inks Record-Breaking $285 Million Deal + Becomes Highest-Paid Player In The League’s History

Shai Gilgeous-Alexander has just signed the largest contract in NBA history — a four-year, $285 million supermax extension with the Oklahoma City Thunder. Averaging $71.25 million annually, the deal surpasses the Miami Marlins’ entire team payroll of $67.4 million.
While Boston’s Jayson Tatum recently signed a bigger total deal ($314 million over five years), SGA now holds the highest annual salary in league history. Philadelphia’s Joel Embiid is next closest, making slightly over $64 million per year.
It’s no surprise the Thunder secured Gilgeous-Alexander after his dominant Finals run, which ended in Oklahoma City’s first NBA title. The Kentucky alum averaged 30.3 points per game in the postseason, following a regular season average of 32.7.
For his efforts, he earned both league MVP and Finals MVP honors — joining the likes of Michael Jordan, LeBron James, and Larry Bird as one of just a few to achieve both in a single season. His Hall of Fame path is well underway.

Ryan Seacrest Sparks Concern From Fans in New Photos
Ryan Seacrest has fans worried after the Wheel of Fortune host shared some new photos via social media.
“Lately,” Seacrest, 50, captioned a carousel of Instagram pictures on Monday, June 30. In the snapshots, the American Idol personality is showing off his everyday life, including workouts, cooking, relaxing, and spending time with his dog.
However, according to his followers, Seacrest appears noticeably thinner. “He looks frail to me. I hope he’s doing ok!” one user commented. “Ryan, you’re getting too skinny!” added another.
“Please tell me you’re not on the skinny drugs too. You looked great before!!” a third user wrote, referring to medications like Ozempic, Monjauro, Zepbound, and so on.
It didn’t take long for other fans to chime in defending Seacrest, suggesting that it’s not acceptable to comment on his appearance in any capacity.
“IT IS NOT OK TO COMMENT ON SOMEONE’S BODY. Period. Just because he is a man/celebrity. THIS IS HIS PERSONAL ACCOUNT. He is a real human who has feelings and ages and CHANGES. Your concern for him is laced in judgment and is just plain rude. IT IS NOT OK TO COMMENT ON ANYONE'S BODY. Would you say these things to his face? Then don’t say them here,” one fan argued.
“I just think it’s rude to tell someone they are too skinny. I get told this a lot, and I cannot help it with the medication I am on. Be positive and encouraging, y’all,” a second person echoed.
A source close to Seacrest tells us that there is no cause for concern whatsoever.
"Ryan has recently been doing a new workout routine—working out with a new trainer, Dodd Romero, combined with Pilates and yoga for the first time," the insider assures. "That’s created a visible change. He’s also been enjoying vacation time this summer and eating lots of pasta.”
In fact, earlier today, Seacrest shared several fun snaps of him eating pasta with Brunello Cucinelli.

Mia X drops out of Master P celebration at 2025 Essence Fest; he cites 'miscommunication'

“It’s still unbelievable that I’m actually saying this,” Mia ”Mia X" Young announced on Instagram late Sunday night. “I will NOT be performing at Essence Fest as a featured artist in Master P set.”
She then went on to explain why.
At least as early as May 20, Essence Fest organizers had touted Mia X as one of several performers scheduled to take part in the Sunday night showcase in the Superdome organized by No Limit Records founder Percy “Master P” Miller.

The festival has promoted it as his “final performance.” However, he is slated to headline the NOLA Funk Fest at downtown New Orleans' Spanish Plaza on Oct. 18, backed by the Soul Rebels.
Regardless, his Essence appearance is intended as a farewell as he steps back from performing in favor of other endeavors, including his recent appointment as president of basketball operations for the University of New Orleans.
In the mid-1990s, Young became the first female artist signed to No Limit Records. Her 1997 album as Mia X, “Unlady Like,” was certified gold for sales of more than 500,000 copies.
No Limit’s roster eventually drifted apart as Miller focused on other businesses and interests. As her rap career slowed down, Young pursued such passions as cooking. She launched Mama Mia's Foods and, in 2019, published a “cookbook memoir” titled “Things My Grandma Told Me, Things My Grandma Showed Me.”
In early 2019, she started teaching a “hip-hop ensemble” class at Loyola University.
In recent years, she has participated in No Limit Soldier reunion concerts at venues across the country. She is often cited as a highlight of such shows.
According to Young, she never signed a contract to participate in Sunday’s performance and has had little contact with Miller and his management team in recent months. Miller’s manager, she said, thought her asking price was too high.
Essence apparently booked Miller and agreed to pay him a certain amount to put together the showcase. Who he subcontracted, and how much he paid those other performers, was left to him.
In Young’s posting, she wrote that “there was a clash because of my concern about the short time and no schedule in place for rehearsals, no contract, no deposit and the fear of a repeat of 2018” — an apparent reference to an uneven No Limit showcase at the 2017 Essence Fest that received decidedly mixed reviews.
She wrote that she finally spoke to Miller on June 26, who blamed the lack of communication on a busy schedule.
The next night, June 27, Young joined Master P for a No Limit Soldiers reunion concert at the Orion Amphitheatre in Huntsville, Alabama.
Young says she received a contract for her 2025 Essence appearance that same day, “but at this point it was too late in my opinion to give the largest most celebrated festival for us what they deserved ... from stage coordination to wardrobe.”
She added that she was also still “insulted” by the “dismissal of my fair fee considering Essence pay big.”
A representative for Miller said he was traveling on Monday and unavailable to comment.
He did post a short Instagram video that showed him sitting on a weight bench in an athletic facility. In the caption, he said that he’s been “coaching. I don’t know where the miscommunication came from, but Mia X can get whatever she wants from me.”
In the accompanying video, he said, "I talked to Mia X. I tell her to give me a number. Whatever the management was talking about ... she gonna get whatever she wants."
However, he also clarified that Sunday night at Essence is intended as a farewell concert for him and is not a No Limit Soldiers reunion show. Young “can perform or don’t have to,” Miller said.
The only announced participants in the Master P farewell, other than Miller himself, are his brother Vyshonn “Silkk the Shocker” Miller, Dru Hill and Keri Hilson.
Other main stage performers at Essence on Sunday include co-headliner Boyz II Men plus Nas, Doug E. Fresh’s salute to 55 years of Essence Magazine, and a Jermaine Dupre-curated tribute to Quincy Jones featuring Tyrese, Robin Thicke, MC Lyte, Al B Sure, Xscape, SWV, the Pharcyde and Mobb Deep.

And that's a wrap! Beyoncé cuts song short after flying car malfunctions during Houston show
Beyoncé pumped the brakes on one of her final songs in Houston on Saturday after a flying-car prop seemingly malfunctioned while she was midair.
The Houston-born singer was making a hometown stop on her “Cowboy Carter” tour when the incident occurred during the penultimate song, in which she sits in a red car suspended over the crowd while singing “16 Carriages.” The car then circulates around the stadium while Beyoncé serenades her fans with the emotional ballad.
But at NRG Stadium, she paused abruptly and said, “Stop, stop stop.”
Video of the moment circulated online, as Beyoncé rarely pauses a live show. One video posted by Samantha Flores on Instagram appeared to show the car tilting dramatically to one side when Beyoncé called to stop the show.

Beyoncé seemed to keep her cool during the ordeal, even as fans frantically yelled to “get her down.” Another video posted by Flores showed Beyoncé with two feet on the ground to finish the song.
“If ever I fall, I know y’all will catch me,” Beyoncé told the crowd.
Representatives for Beyoncé and NRG Stadium did not immediately respond to request for comment from NBC News. She is scheduled to perform a second night in her hometown on Sunday.
Beyoncé posted a carousel of photos from the show to her Instagram account, the last of which was a still of her on the nearly sideways car.
"I love you, Houston," she wrote in the caption.
The singer’s “Cowboy Carter” tour began at the end of April and has spanned the U.S., as well as multiple nights in London and Paris. Beyoncé’s performances run for about three hours every night, without an opening act.
Her setlist includes more recent releases such as “Ya Ya,” “Texas Hold ’Em” and “Levii’s Jeans.” But she also gives the crowd fan favorites from her catalog like “Crazy in Love” and “Irreplaceable.”
Beyoncé had a special guest appearance during a show in Paris, bringing out Miley Cyrus to sing a duet. The pair have a song together called “II Most Wanted” on Beyoncé’s country album.
Cyrus wrote a post on Instagram thanking Beyoncé for the opportunity to join her onstage, calling it a dream come true.
“To have learned from you & loved you my whole life, & then be standing together in matching gold looks is more than I could’ve imagined,” Cyrus wrote

NYC Mayoral Candidate Zohran Mamdani Reacts to Donald Trump's Threat to Deport Him In New Statement

Zohran Mamdani is responding to President Donald Trump threatening to strip him of his citizenship and deport him.
The 33-year-old Democratic mayoral candidate for New York City took to social media on Tuesday (July 1) to share a statement reacting to what Trump said during a press conference in Florida.
Mamdani has said he would “stop masked ICE agents from deporting our neighbors” in a victory speech, and Trump reacted saying, “Well then, we’ll have to arrenst him.”
“Look, we don’t need a communist in this country, but if we have one, I’m going to be watching over him very carefully on behalf of the nation,” he continued.
“A lot of people are saying he’s here illegally,” Trump added, referencing claims Mamdani is here illegally. “We’re going to look at everything. Ideally, he’s going to turn out to be much less than a communist. But right now he’s a communist. That’s not a socialist.”
Taking to his official social media accounts, Zohran shared a statement in response to the President’s comments.
“The President of the United States just threatened to have me arrested, stripped of my citizenship, put in a detention camp and deported. Not because I have broken any law but because I will refuse to let ICE terrorize our city,” he wrote.
“His statements don’t just represent an attack on our democracy but an attempt to send a message to every New Yorker who refuses to hide in the shadows: if you speak up, they will come for you. We will not accept this intimidation.”
“That Trump included praise for Eric Adams in his authoritarian threats is unsurprising, but highlights the urgency of bringing an end to this Mayor’s time in City Hall,” Zohran continued. “At the very moment when MAGA Republicans are attempting to destroy the social safety net, kick millions of New Yorkers off of healthcare and enrich their billionaire donors at the expense of working families, it is a scandal that Eric Adams echoes this President’s division, distraction and hate.”
He concluded, “Voters will resoundingly reject it in November.”

Bill Hader's Cat in the Hat Gets Pepper-Sprayed and Uses a Flip Phone in First Trailer for the Dr. Seuss Movie
Bill Hader stars in The Cat in the Hat, a new animated adaptation of the Dr. Seuss book, out in 2026
The first teaser trailer for the film was released on Tuesday, July 1
The Cat in the Hat voice cast also includes Quinta Brunson, Bowen Yang and America Ferrera
Bill Hader stars as the trouble-making feline in the latest animated iteration, The Cat in the Hat. On Tuesday, July 1, Warner Bros. gave the first glimpse at the latest take on the character — originated in Dr. Seuss’ iconic 1957 children’s book of the same name — in the first teaser trailer.
“There’s a movie I’ve been working on for a long time. Like, really long,” Hader, 47, teased in a video shared ahead of the trailer. (The film was first announced back in 2018, according to Variety.)
In the film, the titular cat “has been reimagined in a way that’s hilarious and unlike anything you’ve seen before,” Hader said in the video.
The comedian also teased that the location of the new movie will be an “expansive new universe,” which separates it from the 2003 Mike Myers live-action adaptation set in the fictional town of Anville.
In the same video, Hader also announced the star-studded voice cast, which includes Quinta Brunson, Bowen Yang, America Ferrera, Xochitl Gomez, Tituss Burgess, Matt Berry, Tiago Martinez, Paula Pell and Giancarlo Esposito.
“I can’t wait for you to see these unique worlds with different styles of animation, which are so beautiful,” Hader said. “I love how they frame and shape each world you travel through.”
Further teasing The Cat in the Hat first look, the Saturday Night Live alum joked, “I had to bribe some officially-looking officials to get this out, and now I’m broke — but it’s worth it. You’re gonna love it.”
A synopsis teases, "Doing what he does best, the Cat spreads joy to kids in his hilarious, signature and singularly irreverent way, transporting them and audiences on a fantastical journey through a world they’ve never seen before."
"Our hero takes on his toughest assignment yet for the I.I.I.I. (Institute for the Institution of Imagination and Inspiration, LLC): to cheer Gabby and Sebastian, a pair of siblings struggling with their move to a new town. Known for taking things too far, this could be this agent of chaos’s last chance to prove himself ... or lose his magical hat!"
An in-progress version of a trailer for the adaptation debuted at CinemaCon 2025 earlier this year, with the head of Warner Bros. Animation Bill Damaschke describing it as the "doorway into our own Seussiverse,” according to Entertainment Weekly.
“We all know the cat cheers up and brings joy to kids on rainy days. In our film, he will get his toughest assignment yet and have to up his game to keep that hat,” Damaschke teased at the convention, per EW. “It expands the story way beyond the book."
Before Hader — who also memorably played a live-action version of the Cat in a 2014 SNL sketch — it was Myers who brought the Dr. Seuss character to life on the big screen. The Canadian actor and SNL alum played the cat in the 2003 film, which starred Spencer Breslin and Dakota Fanning as a sibling duo who — along with Myers’ character — butt heads with a villainous Alec Baldwin.
More recently, PBS Kids seriesThe Cat in the Hat Knows a Lot About That! starred yet another SNL alum, Martin Short, as the titular feline. The educational children's show ran from 2010 to 2018, per IMDb.
Mica Paris Calls Out UK Music Industry for Neglecting Young Black Talent

Mica Paris, Britain’s celebrated ‘Queen of Soul,’ has issued a critique of the UK music industry, arguing it fails to support young Black musicians adequately.
Paris, whose career spans decades since her 1988 debut “So Good,” emphasized the need for greater representation and resources for Black artists. “It’s hard for Black artists here,” she told The Standard. “We need to have more radio stations in the UK that cater to black music. Right now, we have to be squeezed into pop. There’s only one avenue, which is Radio One.”
Reflecting on her South London upbringing, Paris noted the disconnect between the UK’s diverse communities and its music platforms. “When you walk in any suburban area like Lewisham or Stoke Newington you’re going to find that there is a community. Everyone just gets on. But you don’t see it reflected in radio. That’s a problem,” she said.
Comparing the UK to the US, where genres like R&B and jazz have dedicated charts and airplay, she criticized the limited options in Britain, pointing to Radio One and One Extra as insufficient. “In the States, they have R&B, they have a jazz chart, they have a pop chart, they have a rock chart. And every one of those are pushed,” she added.
Paris, whose 1991 hit “If I Love U 2nite” was penned by Prince, stressed the need for commercial investment to elevate Black music beyond niche status.
“What we want is more support for music of black origin here. It needs to have more support in the commercial sense. That’s really all we need. And we shouldn’t have to wash it down and try and make it more a certain way for it to be played,” she stated.
Paris also argued that without robust label backing and radio support, young Black artists struggle to break through. She called for a future where Black British talent is fully embraced.
“It shouldn’t just be that it’s only grime that’s supported,” she said.

Remy Ma Gets Into Confrontation With Her Son’s Alleged Murder Victim’s Daughter
Things got tense outside a New York City courthouse when rapper Remy Ma allegedly engaged in a heated exchange with Jazmin Dior, the daughter of Darius Guillebeaux, the man her son Jayson “Jace” Scott is accused of killing in 2021.
According to reports from AllHipHop, Remy was seen arguing with Dior on the sidewalk before tensions escalated and authorities briefly detained the Bronx rapper. Dior filmed parts of the confrontation and shared them to Instagram, showing her calling Remy out directly. “You trying to act like you’re tough… go around the corner.” Remy fired back, “Come on, beat me up,” before the video abruptly cuts. Dior later posted a photo showing Remy in handcuffs.
Following the incident, Dior took to social media again to reflect on the emotional exchange. “You would have thought I did something to you,” she said. “Realistically, I can never speak to my father again… You can see your son.” She added that Remy gave her “a whole attitude,” and questioned, “Where’s your remorse?”
Scott is currently facing serious charges including first- and second-degree murder, multiple counts of criminal possession of a weapon, and reckless endangerment in the first degree. He was indicted alongside a second suspect, 22-year-old Richard Swygert.
In the wake of Scott’s arrest, Remy Ma’s legal team issued a statement defending his innocence. “Very serious unfounded allegations have been made,” the statement read, via People. “Remy Ma wished to address this personally, but has been advised not to speak publicly while the case is active.”
The statement continued, “To be clear, Jayson Scott is innocent and Remy Ma is committed to proving his innocence and fully supporting her child during this time. We hope the NYPD conducts a complete and thorough investigation to reveal the truth.”
Remy Ma, who has long carried herself as a protective mother and fierce supporter of her family, now finds herself navigating one of the most difficult moments of her public and personal life. The road ahead is uncertain, but for now, all eyes remain on the courtroom.

Louis Vuitton Bets on Experience with Stunning New “Ship” Store in Shanghai

That's Baller: Louis Vuitton Bets on Experience with Stunning New “Ship” Store in Shanghai
Louis Vuitton has launched a striking new flagship in the heart of Shanghai’s Nanjing Road shopping district, but this isn’t just another luxury store. Nicknamed “The Louis,” the 30-metre-high, ship-shaped space blends retail with immersive experience, complete with an exhibition area and sleek café designed to draw social-savvy visitors.
Unveiled with much fanfare, the new location is as much about storytelling and spectacle as it is about shopping. The glistening structure is expected to be a magnet for crowds looking for Instagram-worthy moments — but behind the glamour lies a strategic move. LVMH, Louis Vuitton’s parent company, is shifting away from traditional retail models and leaning into experiences to reignite spending in a cooling luxury market.
China has long been a key driver of global luxury sales, but a mix of economic uncertainty and a slump in the property sector has dampened consumer confidence. In Q1 of this year, LVMH saw a notable 11% drop in revenue across the Asia-Pacific region, excluding Japan, which represents about 30% of its global business.
Consumers like Natalie Chen, a 31-year-old Shanghai resident, illustrate the new mindset, telling Inside Retail that she already has enough “stuff,” noting that she’s more interested in travel and lifestyle experiences than adding another designer bag to her collection.
“It brings a different kind of feeling than just [shopping] in a mall,” Chen added.
Despite the slowdown, experts believe luxury brands are playing the long game. Although China’s luxury market contracted by over 18% in 2024, analysts expect it to stabilize in 2025. According to CBRE’s Zino Helmlinger, this dip is part of a natural correction after years of explosive growth. “There’s only so much you can grow, only so much you can generate,” he said.
For now, The Louis isn’t just a flagship; it’s a floating statement that luxury in China is evolving from product to experience.
