#MusicNews: Halle Bailey Teases Steamy New Single, ‘Because I Love You’

Halle Bailey is not mincing words in a preview of her upcoming single, “Because I Love You.” The Grammy-nominated Chloe x Halle singer, solo star and The Color Purple actress posted a 13-second preview of the song on Instagram on Wednesday (August 21) and the message is perfectly simple, the meaning transparently clear.
“And it’s all because I love you, babe/ Love you babe, love you babe/ I love you babe, love you babe,” she sings breathily in the sneak peek that appeared to be delivered from the back seat of a moving car. As if to put a finer point on it, she adds, “I motherf–king love you babe/ Love you babe, love you babe/ Love you babe/ And it’s all because…”

Bailey said in the caption — which included a bandaged heart emoji — that the single is out August 30.
The post was the first taste of new music since Bailey, 24, and partner rapper DDG shared the first picture of son Halo last month while the couple were on a European vacation with their six-month-old bundle of joy. She shared another series of too-cute snaps a week ago, when she twinned with Halo in Canadian tuxedos as she prepared for baby’s first concert experience: a Bruno Mars show.

The new mother has been keeping her musical chops sharp lately, including in a smoldering acoustic guitar cover of Sabrina Carpenter’s Billboard Hot 100 No. 1 summer smash “Please Please Please,” adding in some killer vocal runs, as well as an equally intense cover of Billie Eilish’s “Wildflower.”

“Because I Love You” is the follow-up to “In Your Hands,” a ballad released in March that was accompanied by a video that ends with the singer cradling baby Halo in her arms and sweetly rocking him. “In Your Hands” was the second non-soundtrack solo release of Bailey’s career, follow on the heels of 2023’s “Angel,” which hit No. 6 on the R&B/Hip-Hop Digital Songs chart.

Halle’s name also showed up on the 16-song track list for sister Chlöe‘s upcoming sophomore album, Trouble in Paradise, where the siblings will team up on the song “Want Me” alongside Chlöe’s collabs with Ty Dolla $ign, Anderson .Paak, YG Marley and Jeremih.

#HipHopNews: Diddy Sexual Assault Accuser Says She Fears For Her Life In Bid To Stay Anonymous
A woman asked a New York judge to maintain her anonymity in a sexual assault lawsuit against Diddy’s Bad Boy Records and the label’s former president Harve Pierre. The alleged victim’s attorney opposed Diddy and Pierre’s legal efforts to force her to reveal her name on Friday (August 23).

“Defendants’ motion is nothing more than a scare tactic and ploy to deter litigation against an already crumbling empire that can no longer hide behind the smoke screens of its money, power and fame,” Jane Doe’s lawyer Jeffrey Anderson argued.
Jane Doe accused Pierre of sexually assaulting her multiple times between 2016 and 2017 in a 2023 lawsuit. She sued Diddy’s Bad Boy Records for negligence and enabling Pierre’s alleged crimes.

Multiple women sued Diddy and his associates for sexual assault, among other allegations, over the past year. Many of his accusers have disclosed their identities, but two lawsuits involving Pierre were filed by women who wished to remain anonymous. The aforementioned Jane Doe has only been identified as Pierre’s former assistant.

“Because of my former employer’s power and influence, I fear that I will be harassed and ridiculed if my identity was made public in connection with these claims,” she explained. “I am concerned for my physical safety and the safety of my family.”

Jane Doe hasn’t informed her family about the lawsuit or what Pierre allegedly did to her. She hopes the court will protect her identity.
“This is a source of shame and embarrassment for me,” she said. “Should my identity be made public, I risk negative repercussions to my employment due to the stigma associated with being a victim of sexual assault. I fear others will view me negatively and my reputation will be negatively impacted. My mental health will suffer if I was forced to disclose my identity publicly. I should not have to be subjected to further harm in my efforts to seek accountability for what was done to me.”

Diddy is the subject of a federal investigation over sex trafficking allegations. The embattled mogul’s lawyers maintain his innocence.

Mariah Carey’s Mother And Sister Die The Same Day, Singer Confirms: “My Heart Is Broken”

The mother and sister of R&B and Pop superstar Mariah Carey both died on the same day over the weekend, the songstress has confirmed.
In a statement to People, Carey shared the unfortunate news regarding her mother, Patricia, and sister, Alison, while reminiscing on their last moments together.

“My heart is broken that I’ve lost my mother this past weekend. Sadly, in a tragic turn of events, my sister lost her life on the same day,” the Grammy winner, 55, revealed. “I feel blessed that I was able to spend the last week with my mom before she passed. I appreciate everyone’s love and support and respect for my privacy during this impossible time.”

Carey had a complicated relationship with both her mother and sister, Alison, who opened up about her grievances with her famous sister many times over the years. In 2016, Alison released a video to The Daily Mail asking for a reunion with Mariah, as well as financial assistance to cover medical bills. Alison battled addiction for many years and was HIV positive.

According to Carey’s memoir The Meaning of Mariah Carey, Alison was a troubled teen parent who attempted to literally sell a young Mariah to a pimp. This and other actions taken in their youth resulted in the siblings becoming estranged.
As for their mother, Patricia, Carey referred to their relationship as a combination of “betrayal” and “beauty.”

″But ours is a story of betrayal and beauty. Of love and abandonment. Of sacrifice and survival. I’ve emancipated myself from bondage several times, but there is a cloud of sadness that I suspect will always hang over me, not simply because of my mother but because of our complicated journey together,″ Carey wrote in the aforementioned autobiography. ″It has caused me so much pain and confusion. Time has shown me there is no benefit in trying to protect people who never tried to protect me. Time and motherhood have finally given me the courage to honestly face who my mother has been to me.”

Charlamagne Tha God Calls Out Plies’ Comments Regarding VP Kamala Harris

Charlamagne Tha God is clapping back at Plies for stating that Vice President Kamala Harris doesn’t owe anyone an explanation. On Sunday (Aug. 25), Plies took to X/Twitter where he went on a mini-rant about Harris and her unwillingness to do too many interviews. The Florida rapper voiced his frustration with Black men who are quick to shoot her down and ask things of her that they wouldn’t ask of former President Donald Trump or any other white man.

“Stop asking a mothaf**king Black woman to explain theyself to you, if y’all ain’t willing to ask a mothaf**king white man to explain hisself,” Plies asserted. “Y’all cool with the white man not explaining himself to you… Y’all just want something to mothaf**king say. Now, if she was President and didn’t do something then that’s a whole different ball game.”
Charlamagne responded to Plies’ comments on Monday (Aug. 26) during a new episode of The Breakfast Club. The talking head stated that it was “absolutely” wrong for Plies or anybody to say or imply that Black people should “settle” for their candidate.
“I don’t understand Plies or any Black person for that matter, telling Black people to ‘just settle.’ ‘Just accept whatever the candidate is giving you. Don’t ask questions, just vote. They don’t have to explain anything to us.’ No,” Charlamagne expressed.

“Plies is absolutely, positively wrong,” Charlamagne continued. “If people are asking questions, that’s great… I don’t even know why Plies is making this a Black woman vs. Black men thing. This isn’t about Black men and Black women. It’s about elected officials and potential voters.”
The South Carolina native explained the point of campaigning during an election year and why it is paramount for candidates to take interviews. Charlamagne doubled down on his assertion that Kamala Harris definitely needs to explain herself to the American people if she wants Black folks to vote for her.
“The whole point of the campaign season is for candidates to go out there and explain to the American people why they should be the one in charge of this country. Votes are earned, not given. And they are earned by you going out there and explaining yourself.”

Kamala Harris hasn’t given that many interviews since she accepted the political baton pass from President Joe Biden in July. Since then she has turned down an appearance at the NABJ and opted to interview at the event virtually. However, the National Association of Black Journalists turned down her alternative. On the other hand, Donald Trump appeared at the convention and took questions from the panel.

Joie Chavis And Trevon Diggs Welcome First Child Together After Their Split
Congratulations are in order for Joie Chavis and Trevon Diggs. Despite no longer an item, the former couple has welcomed their first child together. The news comes a little over a month after she confirmed their separation.
Joie announced her baby's arrival via her Instagram Story on Monday, August 26. She uploaded a compilation video of reactions from her loved ones when she introduced her newborn to them via FaceTime.

Needless to say, the reactions were all sweet and adorable, with some not being able to hide their shock. Others were more emotional as they were completely moved by the news. Meanwhile, the baby's face is still kept under wraps as Joie covered it with a rose emoji.
The dancer has not shared details of the baby's birth date or name either, but she appeared to hint at the sex of her newborn. In addition to the rose emoji, she set the clip to Thee Sacred Souls' "Can I Call You Rose?" which might hint that her newborn is a baby girl.
While it's her and Trevon's first child together, it's baby No. 3 for the social media personality. She is also a mother to daughter Shai, whom she welcomed with Bow Wow in 2011, and son Hendrix, born in 2018, whom she shares with rapper Future.

Joie announced her pregnancy with her third child in March. However, just a few months later, she revealed that they're no longer an item. When a fan asked in July, "Just wondering are the together still? No shade whatsoever especially from someone like me," the then-pregnant mom replied, "No we aren't. I think thats obvious."

A few weeks later, the former couple reunited at their baby shower. They looked loved-up at the bash with the influencer giving her baby daddy a kiss, sparking confusion among their fans about the status of their relationship.

Scarface Back In Hospital And Hooked Up To Machine, 3 Years After Kidney Transplant Due To Covid-19
Rapper Scarface revealed his hospitalization through an Instagram post on Saturday, August 24 sharing a photo of himself receiving medical care. "Ouch… [prayer hands] Grateful," he captioned the photo, without disclosing the cause.

Numerous hip-hop artists expressed their support in the comments section, including Chance the Rapper, DJ Quik, DJ Premier, and Mannie Fresh. "Brad, we got more work to do bro bro. Ain't no time to be out of time," Quik wrote. Premier added, "Prayers sent Face! Continue to heal! Love You Brad."
According to the Houston Chronicle, Scarface appears to be receiving care in a Cardiovascular Intensive Care Unit. This comes after the rapper's previous health struggles, including a life-threatening bout with COVID-19 in 2020. The virus caused kidney failure, and he underwent dialysis for several months.

In 2021, Scarface received a kidney transplant from his son, Christopher. Despite recovering from COVID-19 and receiving a kidney transplant, it's unclear what medical condition has led to his current hospitalization.

Scarface, born Brad Jordan, is a founding member of the Geto Boys, a legendary rap group from Houston. He is known for his distinctive voice and poignant lyrics, which often explore themes of social injustice and personal struggles.

Brandy reveals she’s open to recording an album and touring with Monica

The reunion between Brandy and Monica that fans have been trying to manifest could potentially become a reality one day. The two singers first collaborated as teenagers when their 1998 hit song “The Boy Is Mine” was released.
They reconnected more than a decade later when they teamed up for “It All Belongs to Me” in 2012. The track was somewhat of a more mature follow-up to the women moving on from unfulfilling relationships and appeared on Monica’s album New Life.

Eight years later, in 2020, the women shared the same space again when they appeared on Verzuz, seemingly burying the hatchet on misunderstandings from their youth. Then this summer, in June, longtime supporters of the artists were thrilled to see them pair up for the reimagining of their ‘90s single when Ariana Grande enlisted their vocals for her version, “the boy is mine,” as well as featured the industry veterans in the music video.

Now, months after Ray J publicly suggested that his big sister and the Georgia Peach explore doing a joint tour or residency, Brandy has said that the idea is not all that farfetched. In a recent interview for “Entertainment Tonight,” she spoke candidly about the friendship she and Monica have cultivated in the last couple of years.

“I’m so appreciative of that because I’ve always loved Monica,” said the 12-time Grammy Award-nominated artist. “I’ve always just loved her music and just loved her as an artist. So, to reconnect with her and to do ‘the boy is mine’ too with Ariana Grande as grown women was such a blessing, and I hope to do more with her in the future, like a tour,” she added.

The “Vocal Bible” doubled down on her openness to recording new music, even entertaining doing “some type of EP with her and then do a tour would be awesome. A collab album,” said Brandy. “We just connect now in a different way,” she noted.

In June, Monica also spoke with “Entertainment Tonight” about their newfound friendship. She said one of the keys they had to learn was to keep others out of the mix, and that includes Ray J.

Despite him expressing his "One Wish" of the ladies sharing the same stage, Monica told him it was best to allow matters of business to be worked out privately. Although plans for a tour have not been formally announced, she confirmed that if one did come to pass, she and Brandy would be co-headliners.

Wendy Williams makes first public appearance in over a year: Viral pics
Wendy Williams seems to be doing fine! The iconic TV personality recently visited a wellness store with her son. Scroll to see the viral picture!
Wendy Williams was recently spotted for the first time in over a year at a holistic store in Newark, New Jersey. The 60-year-old iconic gossip show host visited Bolingo Balance, a wellness shop run by Victor Bowman, the son of the late holistic health advocate Dr Sebi.

According to a Page Six report, Williams visited the store about a week ago. She was accompanied by her son Kevin Hunter Jr. An employee at the shop described Williams as "sharp, upbeat and aware" during her visit, adding that she was "very bubbly" and engaged in a conversation with Bowman about the store's health products.

The employee revealed that Williams enquired mostly about products that improve circulation. Williams didn't want to share too much on her first visit so she promised to visit again for in-depth counselling.
"She talked about circulation improvement," the employee told the publication. "But didn’t want to get into too much detail on their first meeting and plans to come back in the near future."

Bowman gifted a ton of holistic products to Williams. The goodie bag included iron-rich herbs such as sarsaparilla, contribo and bottano oil. She also got capsules designed to promote hormonal balance and mental well-being.
Bowman later shared a photo of himself with Williams on his Facebook page on August 19, who has been largely out of the public eye since March 2023.

Williams has, unfortunately, faced several health challenges in the last two years. She has been diagnosed with frontotemporal dementia and aphasia. She has also been battling Graves' Disease and Lymphedema.

In 2022, Williams was placed under court-ordered guardianship following concerns raised by her bank Wells Fargo about "undue influence and financial exploitation". The guardianship restricted her family's access to her. In July, her family said that they were still “denied contact” with her.Wendy Williams Spotted in Public

Ice Spice Poses in Underwear After Shutting Down Ozempic Speculation
Ice Spice is heating up Instagram. On Sunday (August 25), the 24-year-old “Deli” rapper took to her social media account to share a photo of herself posing in front of a bathroom room mirror while wearing a blue bra and underwear set.

“Like f–k how u feel 😗” Ice Spice captioned the post.
The new post comes just days after Ice Spice shut down speculation that she’s using Ozempic for weight loss after fans noticed her thinner figure.
“I wish y’all never learned the word Ozempic,” Ice Spice said during a life chat on X Spaces. “That’s one thing I wish. Oh my God, like, what even is Ozempic? What the f— is that? Genuinely, what is that?”

“Like, you lazy ass bitches never heard of a gym?” she continued. “It’s called the gym. It’s called eating healthy. It’s called being on tour. Like, what the hell? Maybe if I was sitting home all day, it would be easier to stay big.”

Cynthia Erivo Celebrated The Wizard Of Oz Turning 85 With Cool Side-By-Sides, And I'm Even More Ready For Wicked
85 years ago, The Wizard of Oz, adapted from Frank L. Baum’s The Wonderful Wizard of Oz, opened in theaters and took the world by storm. While the film’s initial popularity subsided after its big screen run, it became even more popular following its 1956 broadcast TV premiere, and all these decades later, The Wizard of Oz is frequently considered to be one of the greatest films of all time. Now Wicked, a new adaptation of Baum’s beloved 1900 book is just months away from hitting the 2024 movies schedule, and star Cynthia Erivo celebrated The Wizard of Oz’s 85th anniversary by posting cool side-by-sides of her movie and the 1939 classic.

Cynthia Erivo is playing Elphaba, a.k.a. The Wicked Witch of the West, in Wicked, which is adapted from the same-named Broadway stage music, which in turn was adapted from Gregory Maguire’s 1995 novel Wicked: The Life and Times of the Wicked Witch of the West, which utilizes characters and settings from the original Wizard of Oz lore. As if there already wasn’t enough to look forward from the two-part Wicked theatrical event, the below pictures from Erivo’s Instagram Stories is sure to increase excitement for many, myself included:

While there have been numerous adaptations of The Wonderful Wizard of Oz for more than 120 years now, it’s safe to say that The Wizard of Oz is still the most well-known of the bunch, and probably will be for all time. However, there’s a good chance that Wicked could come at least somewhat close to achieving the same kind of popularity, especially since the designs of its two central characters draw closely from The Wizard of Oz’s. As you can see, Cynthia Erivo’s Elphaba looks remarkably similar Margaret Hamilton’s Wicked Witch of the West, and Ariana Grande’s Galinda stands out nicely next to Billie Burke’s Glinda the Good Witch of the North.

As mentioned earlier, Wicked also has the benefit of being a book-to screen adaptation that’s being told over two movies rather than just one, although Part Two won’t come out until November 2025. Still, with this arguably being the biggest Wizard of Oz adaptation to play on the big screen since 2013’s Oz, the Great and Powerful, as well as how popular the Wicked Broadway production has been, I’m looking forward to seeing how well Part One performs in theaters. Maybe there’s a chance it could join Inside Out 2 and Deadpool & Wolverine in crossing the $1 billion mark.

Directed by John M. Chu and written by Winnie Holman and Dana Fox, Wicked: Part One comes out on November 22, and its other prominent cast members include Michelle Yeoh, Jeff Goldblum, Jonathan Bailey and Bowen Yang. If you’d like to revisit The Wizard of Oz for its 85th anniversary, it can be streamed with a Max subscription.

Isaac Hayes Estate Granted Emergency Hearing Over Trump’s Unauthorized Use of the Song

*Isaac Hayes III revealed on social media that a federal judge approved an emergency hearing for the family’s lawsuit against Donald Trump. The lawsuit claims the former president has been using Hayes’s song “Hold On, I’m Coming” without permission at campaign rallies.

We reported earlier that the estate, in collaboration with Primary Wave, a prominent music management firm, announced their intention to pursue legal action to prevent further unauthorized use of the song.
The Hayes family condemned Trump, accusing him of embodying the “worst in honesty, integrity, and class” and wanted no association with his campaign, which they claim is rooted in “hate and racism.”
“The Federal Court has granted our request for an Emergency Hearing to secure injunctive relief,” Hayes III wrote on X (formerly Twitter).
“Donald Trump, the RNC, Trump, Trump for President Inc. 2024, Turning Point and The NRA are required to appear in court September 3rd, 2024 at the Northern U.S. District Federal Court in Atlanta. See you in court,” he added.

On Aug. 11, attorneys for Isaac Hayes Enterprises issued a notice of copyright infringement and warned the Trump campaign of potential further legal action due to the unauthorized use of the track at multiple rallies.
“Today, on the anniversary of my father Isaac Hayes’ death we have repeatedly asked Donald Trump, the RNC and his representatives not to use ‘Hold on I’m Coming’ written by Isaac Hayes and David Porter during campaign rallies but yet again, in Montana they used it,” Hayes III wrote on X on Aug. 10.

He added the following day, “We demand the cessation of use, removal of all related videos, a public disclaimer, and payment of $3 million in licensing fees by August 16, 2024. Failure to comply will result in further legal action.”

The iconic song “Hold On, I’m Coming,” famously recorded by soul duo Sam & Dave and released in 1966, has timeless appeal and has become an anthem of resilience and support. Over the years, the track has been appropriated by various politicians and public figures to energize their followers and set the tone at events.

Over 200 Republicans Who Previously Worked for Bush, Romney, or McCain Endorse Vice President Kamala Harris for President

In an unprecedented move, more than 200 Republicans who previously worked for former President George W. Bush, the late Sen. John McCain, and Sen. Mitt Romney have endorsed Vice President Kamala Harris for president. The endorsement, announced in an open letter obtained exclusively by USA TODAY, includes 238 signatures, marking a significant political shift.

The letter, which follows the Democratic National Convention in Chicago, showcases the growing discontent within the GOP. At least five former aides to President George H.W. Bush also signed the letter. This group echoes a similar coalition of anti-Trump Republicans who supported President Joe Biden in 2020.

The letter states, “We reunite today, joined by new George H.W. Bush alumni, to reinforce our 2020 statements and, for the first time, jointly declare that we’re voting for Vice President Kamala Harris and Gov. Tim Walz this November.
Signatories include prominent figures such as Mark Salter and Chris Koch, former chiefs of staff to McCain; Jean Becker, longtime chief of staff for George H.W. Bush; and David Nierenberg, Romney’s 2012 campaign finance chair. They cite concerns over Donald Trump’s leadership and the potential impact of his policies, notably Project 2025.

The group calls on moderate Republicans and independents to “take a brave stand once more” and support Harris in the upcoming election. The Harris campaign has actively highlighted its support from anti-Trump Republicans, launching a “Republicans for Harris” group and featuring Republican speakers at the convention.

The letter concludes with a warning about the consequences of another Trump presidency, both domestically and abroad, urging voters to prioritize the country’s future over party loyalty. This endorsement represents a growing trend of Republican leaders opposing Trump’s re-election.

CeeDee Lamb Becomes Second-Highest Paid Skill Position Player After Quarterbacks
CeeDee Lamb stood his ground, making it clear early in the summer that he needed a new deal before reporting for the upcoming NFL season with the Dallas Cowboys. Jerry Jones, Cowboys’ owner, initially expressed little urgency to finalize a contract with Lamb, projecting confidence that he wouldn’t rush to pay one of the NFL’s top receivers.

As the preseason wrapped up yesterday, there was still no sign of CeeDee Lamb reporting to the team. Finally, under pressure, Jerry Jones caved and gave Lamb what he deserved: a historic four-year, $136 million deal, including a record $38 million signing bonus. The deal, which pays Lamb $34 million annually, makes him the second-highest-paid receiver in the league, just behind the Minnesota Vikings’ Justin Jefferson, who earns $35 million annually.

The former Oklahoma star receiver now has $100 million guaranteed. Lamb has proven to be a prolific playmaker for the Cowboys over the past four years, with 395 catches for 5,145 yards and 32 touchdowns. His 2023 season was particularly impressive, with 135 receptions for 1,749 yards and 12 touchdowns.

The question now is whether the Dallas Cowboys can enter the season in sync on both sides of the ball. Additionally, how much will other top wide receivers like the Cincinnati Bengals’ Ja’Marr Chase and San Francisco’s Brandon Aiyuk command in their upcoming extensions? With the market continually rising, it’s up to front offices to stay ahead before they find themselves making history with even bigger deals.

Tyrese still hates Ving Rhames 20 years after ‘Baby Boy’ classic
Tyrese Gibson admits he still harbors a deep resentment for fellow actor Ving Rhames, whose stellar performance as his mother’s boyfriend in the classic film Baby Boy triggers him to this day.
The singer and actor explained to the host of the “Million Dollaz Worth of Game” podcast that the John Singleton-directed movie was loosely based on his upbringing.  Therefore, reliving some of his worst childhood memories while on the set of the 2001 film traumatized Tyrese so deeply that he detests the sight of Rhames 23 years later.

“I was not acting in Baby Boy. That n—- Ving Rhames definitely triggered the s— out of me. I don’t like the n—- to this day,” said Tyrese, who played Jody Summer in the seminal movie.
“I run into that n—- to this day. I don’t give a f— where we at, what clothes we got on, what we doing, what event— it could be the Golden Globes— I see that n—- across the room I be like, ‘Man, f— that n—- back there.’”

Tyrese can’t separate Ving Rhames from his Baby Boy character
The 45-year-old “How You Gonna Act Like That” crooner continued on this steam of consciousness, saying, “F— that n— That triggered me. You lucky that one of the dudes your mama dated, you was cool with. I wasn’t with none of them. They came up in my crib, I was like ‘man, what the f—.’”

Later in the interview, Tyrese claimed that the late, legendary Singletary told him that he reminded him most of the iconic Tupac Shakur.
“John Singleton was like, ‘You the only n—- that remind me of Pac,’” Tyrese recalled. “’Everybody out here want to be Pac. They getting tattoos trying to become Pac. They out here trying to rap and sound like Pac. They trying to be super thug like Pac, they getting Pac tattoos, they doing whatever.’”

New Jersey Woman Faces Charges After Trying To Pet A Tiger At Zoo

A New Jersey woman is in hot water after police identified and charged her for attempting to pet a tiger at a local zoo.
The incident, which was caught on video, has stirred up quite a buzz.
Zyair Dennis, 24, from Millville, is facing one count of defiant trespassing, according to a police announcement made Monday.

The wild encounter took place on August 20, 2024, at the Cohanzick Zoo in Bridgeton, New Jersey.
According to investigators, Dennis jumped over a fence and made her way to Mahesha, a 7-year-old tiger housed in a caged enclosure.
The video shows Dennis reaching into the cage, only to pull her hand back quickly when the tiger reacted.
And that’s not all—police say Dennis was also caught on video entering the bear enclosure on the same day.
The police received a series of tips after sharing the video and photos of the incident, which eventually led them to identify Dennis.

Alongside the trespassing charge, Dennis was slapped with two city ordinances for her actions, which violated the zoo’s rules against climbing fences.
The date for her appearance in Bridgeton Municipal Court has yet to be set, according to Bridgeton Police.

VMAN 53: TAKING THE STAGE WITH LIL YACHTY
You’re either born with good taste or you’re not. Fortunately, for our cover star Lil Yachty and Creative Director of Burberry Daniel Lee, style is something they can talk about for hours on end

Lil Yachty is best known as one of the most creative, outspoken, genre-allergic artists in hip-hop.

After establishing himself as a purveyor of what he’s called “bubblegum trap,” in the last few years the rapper has gone in a trippier, more psychedelic direction. His latest release, Bad Cameo, which came out this summer, is a moody collaboration with the esteemed English musician James Blake. Style is a moving target for Yachty in music, and, as he explains in this conversation with Burberry’s Daniel Lee, in fashion. From altering people’s sweats for extra cash as a kid growing up in Atlanta to serving a look for his latest music video, Yachty is always trying on new ideas of self through dynamic creative expression.

DANIEL LEE: What is the earliest memory you have of wearing a good outfit?

LIL YACHTY: In middle and high school, I used to wear uniforms. We could go with white, blue, or maroon, and my mom would go to TJ Maxx or Marshalls to get me polo uniforms. I’d have a polo shirt and could get a polo sweater to wrap around my neck. I thought that was sick, like, I thought that was hot.

I remember getting one dress-down day in sixth grade. The outfits were awful. This was before skinny jeans came back. Before then, they didn’t sell skinny jeans in stores. I remember going to see my grandma in North Carolina, and on the way home, we stopped at an outlet with a Rue 21 store. For months I had been trying to find skinny jeans before Hot Topic and Spencer’s were selling them. I couldn’t find them anywhere. I had a pair before they became popular.

The first outfit I thought was good was on my first day of high school. I’ll never forget wearing a Hundreds shirt. I loved Bobby Hundreds. It was The Hundreds’ collaboration with Lil B, the “Thank You BasedGod” shirt, with Abercrombie and Fitch camo shorts. I still have the picture. And Vans. That was my idea of a good outfit. Then in 9th and 10th grade, I really started learning fashion. I won best dressed senior year.

DL: What was your style like as a teenager growing up in Mableton, Georgia?
LY: Hundreds, Diamond Supply, Supreme, and vintage clothes. I was shopping at thrift stores and there was a lot of 1996 Olympics gear. I love throwback jerseys, I still wear them. I wear 90s all-over print shorts, like 90s swim trunks. They just had crazy tribal patterns. I loved hockey jerseys. I had a fake pair of Cartiers. I always had a grill; I’ve been wearing a grill since the ninth grade. I used to wear a 16-piece grill, eight top, eight bottom.

I think I was one of the first people in my town to wear skinny sweats. You could get skinny sweats from Zara but Adidas didn’t make soccer pants yet so I used to take a sewing machine—my mom taught me how to sew—and I would alter them to make them tighter. I made a job out of it, sewing people’s sweats to make them tighter and that’s how I started making money.

DL: What were some of the first musicians you remember being influenced by, in terms of what they wear?

LY: 100% Kris Kross. When I was a child, my dad gave me a Kris Kross tape. They wore their clothes backwards. I never wore my clothes backwards but I did love the style, the fashion, the baseball jerseys, the big jeans, and then the hair. As soon as I got to high school, I started copying the swag. I started doing my hair like that. I grew out my locks. I started braiding it.

DL: Where do you go, or what do you do, to find new ideas?

LY: I’m just on the internet, I’m outside, I watch movies. You just have to live. I find ideas by just living life and indulging in all life has to offer, good and bad.

DL: When do you feel at your most creative?

LY: While getting dressed or when recording music. It feels super creative when I’m filming. When I’m shooting a video, I honestly feel like a character. I feel creative in so many different spaces, whether it’s with fashion, music, or filming.

DL: What makes you feel confident?

LY: A fresh haircut and working on my appearance helps. I believe in myself and I believe in everything I say and stand on, so confidence comes from within—without worrying too much about how anyone else feels, you know? I wear what I want to wear, I say what I want to say, I walk how I want to walk.

DL: What is the most inspiring city you’ve been to?

LY: It’s between Tokyo and New York when it comes to fashion. If we’re talking just inspiring in general, probably Tokyo. Tokyo was really amazing and really different. Switzerland is also really beautiful. The scenery was really inspiring to me. It gives off really trippy and peaceful vibes.

DL: Having a supportive community is important. Who are some of your biggest mentors?

LY: Drake, Tyler, the Creator, Lil Baby, and Coach K, my manager. I’d say those are the people that I trust and can talk to and respect and really look up to.

DL: So far, what are you most proud of in your career?

Tank and hat BURBERRY / Jewelry talent’s own

LY: I’m proud of everything, you know? I’m proud of writing songs. I’m proud of the respect from guys in the fashion industry. I did so much at a young age, and have so much more to do.

DL: You have collaborated with Drake, A$AP Rocky, and Tyler, the Creator and, in June, released the album Bad Cameo with James Blake. What is next for Lil Yachty?

LY: I never stopped doing music and I think getting into the fashion spaces, that’s what’s next for me. I’m starting my brand this year. That’s really important for me and I’m really excited.

DL: So much of life is online now. How important are real-life exchanges to you?

LY: I can’t stress enough how extremely important real-life experiences are between friends, family, loved ones, people you’re trying to get to know. Virtual reality can be so fabricated…it’s important to indulge in real-life experiences. I think what I was saying earlier about just living life, so much emotion gets lost in virtuality. Seeing real-life reactions, experiences, facial expressions, all that just means so much more.

Lil Yachty wears all clothing and shoes BURBERRY / Ring talent’s own

DL: What is currently on your playlist?

LY: I’m making an album right now, so… Sister Nancy, Luther Vandross, Antonio Adolfo, Con Funk Shun, Mazzy Star, Ben Flocks. I mean so much. Piero Piccioni. I’ve been listening to a bunch of jazz. Royel Otis. Cocteau Twins, PARTYNEXTDOOR, The Cranberries, Beach House. I love Beach House. Faye Webster of course, Nightlight, Ready for the World, Sampha. Definitely Sampha. I listen to DJ Screw. Seal, Frank Ocean, Bon Iver, Mark Fry, Oasis, BADBADNOTGOOD. I can literally keep going—you know John Carroll Kirby? Heavy. Elton John. Mel McDaniel. Michael Levy. So much, man.

DL: What do you enjoy most about performing live?

LY: It’s a free feeling. It’s all just so real, you know? You can’t fake it. I love that.

#RHOA: Phaedra Parks Says She Hopes Kim Zolciak Returns to The Real Housewives of Atlanta Next
Parks is making her return to the long-running Bravo reality series for its 16th season
Phaedra Parks is reclaiming her peach and returning to The Real Housewives of Atlanta for season 16 — and she is keen to see another RHOA alum back on the screen with her.

During a conversation about her new IT Cosmetics “Keep It Real” campaign, Parks — who announced her return to the Bravo reality series on Instagram on July 29 — tells PEOPLE she is hoping Kim Zolciak rejoins the cast to spice things up.
"If Kim Zolciak comes back, I think that would be very interesting. Kim is TV gold. She’s always been TV gold," Parks, 50, says, while acknowledging Zolciak's busy plate at the moment.

In addition to starring in MTV's The Surreal Life, Zolciak, 46, is mom to six children — daughters Brielle, 27, Ariana, 22, and Kaia, 10, and sons Kroy Jr. (nicknamed KJ), 13, Kash, 12 and Kane, 10 — with estranged husband Kroy Biermann.

"Right now, she’s got a lot going on," Parks says of her former costar. "Who would’ve thought Kim, who went from two daughters, now has got a whole little basketball team of children!"
Still, The Traitors star believes Zolciak would be a welcome addition to the show for both the cast and the fans.
"I think everyone would love to see Kim come back," the Married to Medicine star says. "She’s fun. I think it would add an element that the girls wouldn’t be expecting."

As for her own triumphant return to RHOA, Parks tells PEOPLE it's been "a real welcome home feeling." While fans have been clamoring for her to come back for some time now, she says she was simply waiting for the right moment. When that moment arrived, "they called and I answered," Parks explains.
The lawyer — who first joined RHOA in season 3 and departed in season 9 — says she hopes to bring the popular TV show "back to its heyday."
"We were the No. 1 franchise of Housewives and I was a part of making that franchise a successful franchise. And I would love to bring the franchise back to its heyday," she says.

"I will say this, it’s going to be an amazing season," Parks teases. "I mean, it will definitely be reminiscent to the Housewives you love originally."
Porsha Williams also will be returning for season 16 following a two-season absence — and Parks is excited to reunite with her friend and deliver some entertaining moments. "Of course, I love Porsha," Parks tells PEOPLE. "We are the original frick and frack."

The season 16 cast will also include Drew Sidora, Shamea Morton Mwangi, Kelli Ferrell, Brittany Eady and Angela Oakley. Former main cast member Cynthia Bailey will appear as a friend.

#MusicNews: Vanessa Williams Introduces her new single ‘iLike Moonlight’ Ahead Of New Album ‘Survivor’

Vanessa Williams is ready to make what will likely be a stunning comeback with her upcoming album Survivor. The industry veteran has shown us that she indeed still has it thanks to solid singles “Legs (Keep Dancing)” and “BOP!” leading her charge. She’s ramping things up now that the set’s release is imminent, dropping off her latest single “iLike Moonlight.”

Where “Legs” and “BOP!” reminded us of the dance floor fillers she brought to us throughout her career, “iLike Moonlight” taps into her other strong suit: adult contemporary. It’s not a stirring ballad like her signature cut “Save The Best For Last,” but the midtempo cut does slow things down a bit with a sultry groove. It begins with soft Spanish guitar set against programmed drums and snaps as Vanessa delivers honeyed vocals as she describes some of her favorite things.

Though she never specifies that the song is about a romantic encounter until the bridge, the feel is there. Especially on the chorus, with her singing, “Come with me in the twilight zone / Better hurry ’cause I’m moving on my own / I’m dancing ’til the night is gone / Excited and I’m never gonna hide it / You know how I like it / I like moonlight.”

“iLike Moonlight” is sure to delight her fans, especially those who have been rocking with her from day one. It should also inspire even more interest in Survivor, which is set to arrive this Friday, August 23rd. Get into the sultry side of Vanessa Williams when you listen to “iLike Moonlight” right here and then watch her radiate beauty in the song’s lyric video below. Then, stick around to view Survivor’s cover art and full tracklist.

#HipHopNews: Philadelphia Rapper, Who Dug Up Enemy’s Grave, Shot Dead
Philadelphia rapper YBC Dul, who went viral for digging up one of his enemy’s graves, has been shot and killed.
The Philadelphia Inquirer reported that the incident took place on Friday (Aug. 23) on the 5500 block of North Sixth Street in Olney, where Dul was shot multiple times in the chest and his right hand.

The rapper, né Abdul Vicks, 25, was then transported to a nearby hospital where he was pronounced dead twenty minutes after the shooting. A white Hyundai SUV, which was spotted at the scene of the crime, is being held by investigators to explore possible connections to the deadly shooting.

Authorities considered Vicks the “ringleader” of a dangerous gang based in West Philadelphia known as the Young Bag Chasers. Vicks, rapping as YBC Dul, went viral for digging up the grave of a deceased foe from a rival gang. YBC had been embroiled in a “war” with about six other local gangs when his clip caught the attention of the masses.

The news publication detailed another incident involving the YBC that went down in early August. Reports recall Quamere Hall, 22, an alleged associate of Vicks and YBC affiliate, being arrested and charged for the death of a 34-year-old man named Sharif King, which transpired in 2023.
YBC took another hit in mid-August when member Arshad Curry was sentenced for the murder of three teenagers and wounding two other people in 2021. During the recent hearing, Curry was sentenced to 42½ to 85 years in prison.

“I applaud the excellent prosecution of this case by Assistant District Attorney Cydney Pope,” District Attorney Krasner expressed in relation to Curry’s sentencing. “Thanks to her work, a significant driver of gun violence has been taken off of the streets. This case is also a testament to the power of modern law enforcement techniques. By improving law enforcement’s forensic capabilities, we can solve more cases quickly and hopefully prevent more tragedies like this.”

#BoxOfficeNews: ‘Deadpool & Wolverine’ Returns to No. ‘The Crow’ Bombs and ‘Blink Twice’ Falters

After a blip that allowed another film to sell some tickets, “Deadpool & Wolverine” returned to the top of box office charts in its fifth weekend of release. Marvel’s superhero adventure towered over the (albeit anemic) competition as two newcomers, “The Crow” and “Blink Twice,” misfired in their debuts.

Director Zoe Kravitz’s twisted thriller “Blink Twice” led among new releases but faltered in fourth place with $7.3 million from 3,067 theaters. Meanwhile, Lionsgate’s R-rated reboot of “The Crow,” starring Bill Skarsgård as a murdered musician who is resurrected to avenge the deaths of himself and his fiancée, bombed with $4.6 million from 2,752 theaters to open in eighth place. Critics were fonder of “Blink Twice” compared to “The Crow,” as the former landed a 79% on Rotten Tomatoes while the latter was saddled with a 20% “rotten” score. Audiences were mixed, giving both films a “B-” grade on CinemaScore. So, it remains to be seen how word-of-mouth will affect the rest of their theatrical runs.

“The Crow,” a grisly reimagining of the graphic novel-turned-1994 film, cost $50 million to produce. It’s the second consecutive miss for Lionsgate following this August’s “Borderlands,” which tumbled to the wasteland of 16th place with $500,000 from 1,147 venues in its third weekend of release. The $115 million-budgeted video game adaptation, starring Cate Blanchett, Kevin Hart and Ariana Greenblatt, is one of the year’s biggest flops with $15 million in North America and $23 million worldwide. In the case of “The Crow,” Lionsgate is only distributing the film after acquiring U.S. rights for roughly $10 million.

“Blink Twice” didn’t resonate internationally either, bringing in $6.7 million from 73 territories for a global start of $14 million. The film is the directorial debut of Kravitz, known for her roles in the “Fantastic Beasts” franchise, Matt Reeves-directed “The Batman” and Steven Soderbergh’s crime drama “Kimi.” The R-rated psychological thriller “Blink Twice” follows a tech billionaire (Channing Tatum, Kravitz’s fiancée) who invites a cocktail waitress (Naomi Ackie) to his private island for a luxurious party where things begin to take a sinister turn. “Blink Twice” reportedly carries a $20 million budget before reshoots, so it’s not catastrophically positioned in its theatrical run despite failing to hit double digits in its debut. Amazon MGM is distributing the movie in the U.S. while Warner Bros. is handling the theatrical rollout in the rest of the world.

“This is an average opening for an original crime thriller,” says David A. Gross, who runs the movie consulting firm Franchise Entertainment Research. However, he believes “Blink Twice” will benefit from its theatrical run. “It’s going to raise the film’s profile in every ancillary market it plays in, and eventually lift it to profitability.”

Overall, this was the third-lowest grossing weekend of summer with $94 million in revenues across all films in the marketplace. After late-season surge from “Inside Out 2,” “Deadpool & Wolverine,” “Twisters” and “Despicable Me 4,” the domestic box office is 13.8% behind 2023 and 25.8% behind 2019, the last pre-COVID year. Yet movie theater attendance may remain light until Tim Burton’s “Beetlejuice Beetlejuice” lands on the big screen in early September.

“Deadpool & Wolverine” reclaimed No. 1 with $18.3 million from 3,840 locations in its fifth frame, dropping just 39% from last weekend. The R-rated comic book sequel, starring Ryan Reynolds and Hugh Jackman, has generated a mammoth $577.2 million in North America and $1.21 billion globally to date. It’s the second-highest grossing movie of the year following Disney’s Pixar adventure “Inside Out 2” ($1.64 billion). “Deadpool & Wolverine” now stands as the eighth-biggest installment in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, having passed “Captain America: Civil War” ($1.155 billion) and will soon overtake “Iron Man 3” ($1.215 billion) to claim the No. 7 spot.

Last weekend’s champion “Alien: Romulus” dropped to second place with $16.2 million from 3,915 theaters in its sophomore outing. Those ticket sales mark a 62% decline from opening weekend. So far, the newest chapter in Disney and 20th Century’s sci-fi horror saga has collected $72.6 million domestically and $225 million worldwide.

“It Ends With Us,” too, paced ahead of “Blink Twice” and “The Crow” as the adaptation of Colleen Hoover’s literary sensation secured the No. 3 spot with $11.8 million from 3,839 venues. After three weekends of release, “It Ends With Us” has amassed a stellar $120.8 million in North America and $240 million globally.

Biblical drama “The Forge” rounded out the top five with $6.6 million from 1,818 locations over the weekend. The faith-based movie, backed by Affirm Films and released by Sony, has been embraced by audiences, who awarded “The Forge” an “A+” on CinemaScore. Directed Alex Kendrick, the spinoff to the director’s 2015 feature “War Room” follows a directionless high school graduate named Isaiah, who gets a push to start making better life decisions. It cost $5 million.

“The faith-based audience loves this movie [and] the production budget was small,” says Gross. “‘The Forge’ is going to do well after all domestic ancillary income is counted.”

Nicki Minaj Is Being Sued By Barb For $5 Million
A barb has left the dollhouse, so-to-speak. Tameer Peak who is at this point, a former Barb, is suing Nicki Minaj for $5 million for damages to his reputation, emotional distress, and loss of finances.
Things got ugly between Peak and Minaj, according to the former Barb in 2017, when the rapper went through what he describes as the “Nicki Hate Train,” that included a stint when she accused some fans of being moles sent to sabotage her.

During an Instagram live with Minaj, Peak claims he was berated by the rapper during a session that had over 100,000 viewers. The complaint filed by Peak also says that during Superbowl 2020, he was battered by Kenneth Petty, Minaj’s husband.
TMZ reports, “In one session, Nicki allegedly wrote, “It’s clear they’re not necessarily, you know, a full basket umm at the picnic.” Peak took that to mean he was mentally unstable or intellectually deficient. In another, he says Nicki accused him of being “one sandwich short of a picnic” and receiving a check from the government, implying he was on welfare.”

Minaj hasn’t made any comments directly, but her attorney Judd Burstein says, “Mr. Peak has been harassing Nicki on social media for years on end to no avail.” He told told TMZ, “He has now graduated to seeking to shake her down financially with manifestly false allegations and legally frivolous claims. He will regret having gone down this disreputable road when he is forced to pay her legal fees as required by California law.”

The charges against Minaj have been filed in Los Angeles Superior Court.

Cardi B Threatens Legal Action Against YouTuber Storm Monroe For False Claims Of Fighting Offset’s Mother & Offering Money For Abortions

Cardi B is threatening legal action against YouTuber Storm Monroe for allegedly making false claims that she fought Offset’s mother and offered his side chicks money for abortions.

In a live stream, Storm said: He [Offset] does have another woman pregnant. I don’t know if it’s the girlfriend we see him with, but he does have another woman pregnant. Cardi B tried to put the girl on an NDA and tried to pay the girl to have an abortion. And she would not. So, Cardi decided to get pregnant to try to compete with the girl.

But, that ain’t the tea… The tea is that Offset’s mama and Cardi had a fight. And that was the final straw. Offset’s mama and sister have never liked Cardi. Ever. They never approved of this relationship.
Storm Monroe proclaimed, “Oh, I’m spilling tea TEA, b**ch!”

He continued, “Who won the fight? The mama. I’mma tell y’all how it was described to me. His mama whooped her a**—in their own house—and turned her every which way but loose.”
Storm Monroe proudly took to Instagram to announce he is “official in these celebrity streets” because Cardi B slid into his DMs to threaten legal action.

“Just got a DM from Cardi B this morning—looks like ya boy is official in these celebrity streets! Guess I need a lawyer now too. Anyone know one that takes payments in memes? #iaintgotit 🤣🤣.”
In her DM to Storm, Cardi B denied his claims and promised a lawsuit would be on the way.
The way I’m gonna sue your a** for that story you made up… for you to say I offered to pay anybody for an abortion AND say that me and Offset’s mom put hands on each other is crazy!!

I would never disrespect my kids’ grandmother or put my hands on someone’s MOM. That’s not even her character or mine.. then to claim that I’m paying someone to take a child’s life is insane but you will be getting a lawsuit your way.

Storm ain’t no fool. He swiftly pulled the video down and responded to Cardi with his best pleasantries.
Than you for reaching out to me regarding the video the allegations were made. I appreciate you bringing this to my attention and giving me the opportunity to remove the video. The video has been removed from the YouTube platform in short form and removed from the original livestream.
Storm Monroe still attempted to monetize the mess by going live to share why he removed the video.

TikToker Jools Lebron Tearfully Addresses 'Very Demure, Very Mindful' Trademark
Jools Lebron is on the brink of losing her rights to "Very Demure, Very Mindful" catchphrase. The TikToker, who popularized the phrase with her viral video titled "How to be demure at work," can't help feeling sad after someone else filed a trademark for the popular phrase first.

In a since-deleted video posted on her TikTok page, the Internet celebrity bawled her eyes out as she expressed her feeling. "I've just invested so much money and time into this," she tearfully said. "And I feel like I did it wrong. I feel like I didn't try hard enough."
Jools said she hoped to make some money from the viral trend to help her family and fund her transition. "I wanted this to do so much for my family and provide for my transition and I just feel like I dropped the ball," she shared. "Like, I feel like I f**ked up and someone else has it now. I don't even know what I could've done better because I didn't have the resources."

She additionally wrote over the clip, "When you didn't trademark fast enough."
TMZ previously reported that a person from Washington state named Jefferson Bates applied for the trademark. As per court documents obtained by the site, it listed the reason for trademarking as an intent to market, advertise and promote.

Jools has since received support from many people, with one explaining, "Trademarks take time... months to be officially registered and approved. The original creator can still file and contest the other trademark that was filed. There is still time and the usage on social media is proof that she was the original creator. Go get what is yours!!!"

"Oh no! Thats so unfortunate," another commented. "You brought fun to learning words again babes and your light won't go away. Something big is coming." A third sympathized with Jools, "I know it seems like it's not a big deal but it was their content that made the phrase popular. That was shady and underhanded."
"We will NOT be buying any merch from anyone that isnt you love," someone is ready to boycott any merchandise launched by the person who filed the trademark. Another similarly declared, "About to boycott any merch I see with 'Demure' on it since the proceeds aren't going to Jools."

"I really hope Jools can challenge the trademark process!!!! They deserve to be able to sell merch! They made the word go viral. Period," someone wrote, while one other penned, "Nah this is soo unfair. She literally popularized this term..."
Slamming Jefferson, who is accused of similar alleged wrongdoings in the past, a social media user claimed, "What an evil person to steal someone else's catchphrase and trademark it." Someone else said, "Who's this Jefferson bates?! He should come outside we just wanna talk."

Rihanna Goes Makeup-Free in New Photos and Shares Skincare Tip: ‘Put That Sunscreen on, Baby!’

The multi-hyphenate promoted her Fenty Skin moisturizers with barefaced snaps on Instagram
If you're going to “shake it ’til the moon becomes the sun,” Rihanna knows you'll need some protection from that sun.
The “Pon de Replay” singer and Fenty Beauty founder, 36, shared a string of makeup-free photos to Instagram on Saturday, Aug. 24, while promoting a Fenty Skin product and giving fans a skincare tip in the process.

"here’s your reminder to put that sunscreen on, baby," Rihanna captioned the post, tagging both Sephora and Fenty Skin in the caption.
The images show the mother of two applying her Hydra Vizor Huez tinted moisturizer, a Sephora-exclusive product known to "hydrate, visibly boost skin elasticity, protect, and visibly reduce pores and dark spots."

Rihanna can be seen holding her products to the camera — and applying them to her cheek — as she rocks a cozy sweater and diamond jewelry. In one snap, she made a kissy face for added effect.

The new photos from the "Kiss It Better" singer come more than a week after her last Instagram upload — a string of cheeky images showing Rihanna model her Savage X Fenty Bold Lace Collection.
While balancing her beauty empire and motherhood, Rihanna has also taken a bit of time this month to visit her home country of Barbados. She and partner A$AP Rocky — the father of her two children RZA, 2, and Riot, 1 — were spotted on a getaway trip in early August spending some time at sea.

The outing came shortly after she showed off a custom bedazzled costume at the annual Crop Over Festival in Barbados.
Speaking to Billboard for a cover story this past week, Rocky, 35, opened up about his "great" relationship with the nine-time Grammy winner, adding that it's "crazy how we find balance with our chaotic schedules."

"I don’t think there’s a more perfect person because when the schedules are hectic, she’s very understanding of that," Rocky said, adding that they spend the "most time together" when their schedules are "freed up."
"It’s all understanding and compatibility," he continued.

Elsewhere in the story, Rocky shared that his music taste hasn't quite fallen in line with what his kids are into. As he revealed, the family has been watching quite a bit of the Cocomelon cartoon lately. “That s--- is driving me nuts!" he joked. "Don’t tell my girl I said that. I’m totally joking. I don’t give a s---. She’s tired of it, too, probably.”
Rocky also celebrated their youngest child's first birthday on Aug. 1 with a social media shoutout and carousel of images and videos on Instagram. “HAPPY 1ST BIRTHDAY TO MY 2ND BORN SON RIOT ROSE MAYERS ❤️," he wrote at the time.

Ben Affleck Has Already Sparked Dating Rumors With Kick Kennedy.
You’re not ready for this, but eye-witnesses are claiming that the newly single Ben Affleck was seen hanging out with a pal, and it’s already sparking romance rumors.
In case you missed it, eye-witnesses claimed to Page Six that Affleck has been seen at his old haunts like the Polo Lounge at the Beverly Hills Hotel, and apparently, while he was there, he was hanging out with Robert F. Kennedy Jr’s daughter Kick Kennedy.

Now, as you can imagine, many outlets are already thinking this could be the start of a new romance. However, the outlet specifically said he was seen “hanging out with friend” Kick, so per the outlet that reported it, it seems the pair are just friends. However, many hopefuls think it’s seemingly too early to tell.

While we already know that Affleck is in the middle of a messy divorce from Jennifer Lopez, Kennedy is single (as far as we know). She’s dated a few high-profile people in the past, one of whom was billionaire banking heir Matthew Mellon. However, he tragically died within four months of their dating. She hasn’t been publicly linked to anyone since.
Now, who is Kick? While we already know she’s a Kennedy, she’s also an actress who was in numerous projects from 2011 to 2021. Not much is known about her inner circle, or even how close she is to Affleck, but fans are eager to know more.

But for now, it seems Affleck is learning to be single again after his and Lopez’s tumultuous two-year marriage.

"Maybe we should let me go."

"She came flying in and she just yelled, 'I love you. I love you,'" daughter Alexandra Reeve Givens recalled of her mom.

Jermaine Dupri refutes critics’ claim he doesn’t support Vice President Kamala Harris
Jermaine Dupri is not leaving room for misunderstandings regarding his political stance after being put through the wringer on social media for two days.
The music industry veteran found himself at the center of a digital discourse when many believed he cast doubt on Vice President Kamala Harris’ ability to effectively lead the county if elected president.

On Thursday (Aug. 22), she officially accepted her party’s nomination at the Democratic National Convention. She was previously endorsed by President Joe Biden in July when he withdrew from the 2024 presidential race against Republican opponent Donald Trump. Ahead of her speech, Dupri posted a video saying that Harris had a huge task of addressing her campaign policies, as many people likely have questions about how her leadership will differ from Biden.

In particular, the Grammy Award winner drew attention to a Republican commentator participating in CNN’s DNC coverage who questioned her ability to create change. Durpri revealed he asked her a similar question and inquired about why she had not been more outspoken before running for the nation’s highest office. He said that Harris told him her “hands are tied.” The video was met with a barrage of criticism and people advising him to learn about the roles of the president and vice president.

On Saturday (Aug. 24) he addressed the backlash by sharing his thoughts in an Instagram Live with journalist Roland Martin. First, Dupri stated, “I’m not a Republican, alright? Let’s be clear: I am with Kamala Harris. Let’s be clear. And I feel like a lot of y’all was just talking s**t ‘cause y’all thought that I was on the other side.”

The Songwriters Hall of Fame inductee went on to address people misinterpreting his words. He said, “I think that a lot y’all jumped the gun. First of all, y’all got the message, ‘cause I seen the message actually popping yesterday (Aug. 23), which is the day after Kamala Harris had her speech. So, I guess that made y’all believe that I was speaking as we saw the speech, and then this is what I talked about.”

Additionally, he clarified that his comments were in reaction to the Republican commentator critically insinuating that if elected, Harris may not have an impactful administration based off the perception of her tenure as vice president. “I wasn’t asking that question. I was telling y’all what he kept saying, and I was wondering why the people weren’t screaming this, what everybody’s screaming at me, ‘You should know,’ ‘You should get a class in civics,’” said the So So Def Recordings founder.

Further disproving the accusation of him trying to detract from Harris’ campaign, he added, “Everybody knows that she’s in the White House, so she has to continue to support what’s happening in the White House right now.” When Martin joined the conversation, he reiterated the presidential hopeful is walking a fine line of saying what she will do as president and fulfilling her duties as Biden’s second-in-command with limited authority.

“Now that she’s the nominee, so she now actually has two jobs, so she’s the nominee, but she’s still a vice president … Vice President Harris, if she has her own view on Israel-Gaza … It gotta be nuanced because she’s still a vice president,” said the former “News One Now” host. “The president sets policy. The president sets the agenda. She can’t state exactly how she feels or where she will go until she’s sworn in,” said Martin. “You have more freedom to speak as a U.S. Senator or a House member than you do as a vice president.”

In her acceptance speech, the former California district attorney appealed to voters by opposing Trump’s expressed plans to support legislation that strips women of their reproductive rights and rolls back medical and education funding, she also shared her intention to broker peace in Eastern European and Middle East territories.

Alec Baldwin Blamed By Quentin Tarantino For 'Rust' Fatal Shooting
The "Rust" shooting incident, which resulted in the unfortunate death of cinematographer Halyna Hutchins and injury to director Joel Souza, continues to be a hot topic of discussion. The incident occurred in October 2021 when actor Alec Baldwin was holding a prop gun that inadvertently discharged during a rehearsal.

In a most recent interview on Bill Maher's "Club Random" podcast, renowned director Quentin Tarantino shared his thoughts on this tragic event and the subsequent legal outcomes.

"It's a situation, I think I'm being fair enough to say, that the armorer - the guy who handles the gun - is 90% responsible for everything that happens when it comes to that gun, but ... the actor's 10% responsible," stated Tarantino. He emphasized the shared responsibility, adding, "You are a partner in the responsibility, to some degree."

Baldwin faced an involuntary manslaughter charge which was dismissed in July by a New Mexico judge. The dismissal came after prosecutors were found to have withheld critical evidence from Baldwin's legal team.
Baldwin, who always maintained that he did not pull the trigger nor know why the gun was loaded with live ammunition, expressed relief following the conclusion of the case, stating, "There are too many people who have supported me to thank just now."

In his interview, Tarantino suggested that actors should take an active role in ensuring their weapons are safe, advising, "Actors should personally inspect their weapons to ensure there are no bullets in the barrel or other issues before using them in scenes." This assertion reflects the director's strong belief in collaborative responsibility for safety on set.

The armorer on the "Rust" set, Hannah Gutierrez-Reed, was convicted of involuntary manslaughter and is currently serving an 18-month sentence. Assistant director Dave Halls also faced legal repercussions but took a plea deal for negligent use of a deadly weapon.
Tarantino's remarks and the legal outcomes of the case highlight the importance of stringent safety protocols in filmmaking, particularly when firearms are involved. The tragic incident on the set of "Rust" serves as a sobering reminder of the potential dangers in movie production and the need for accountability at every level.

The ongoing discussions and legal actions related to the "Rust" incident underline a larger conversation within the film industry about how to safeguard against such tragedies and determine the balance of responsibility among those involved.

Lizzo Say's she's taking a break from music
The 36-year-old singer hasn’t released an album since Special in 2022, and Lizzo has now taken to social media to reveal that she’s taking a break from the music business.
“I’m taking a gap year and protecting my peace [prayer emoji],” Lizzo wrote alongside a video post on Instagram.

In the video, Lizzo is standing on a balcony wearing a swimsuit. The chart-topping star — who is currently on holiday in Bali, Indonesia, looks skyward as rain pours on her head, before she throws her hands in the air.

Earlier this year, Lizzo seemingly announced her exit from the music business.
The “Truth Hurts” singer admitted that she had grown tired of “being the butt of the joke.”
“I’m getting tired of putting up with being dragged by everyone in my life and on the internet. All I want is to make music and make people happy and help the world be a little better than how I found it. But I’m starting to feel like the world doesn’t want me in it.

“I’m constantly up against lies being told about me for clout and views … being the butt of the joke every single time because of how I look. My character being picked apart by people who don’t know me and disrespecting my name. I didn’t sign up for this s—.” she wrote on Instagram in March.

However, Lizzo later clarified that she wasn’t quitting the music industry.
“I quit giving any negative energy attention. What I’m not gonna quit, is the joy of my life, which is making music, which is connecting the people, ’cause I know I’m not alone,” she said.

Sean Kingston And Mother Flee Reporters After Court Hearing

Sean Kingston and his mother, Janice Turner, fled reporters as they ran from a federal court building on Friday (Aug. 23) after their federal arraignment. Video footage shows the “Beautiful Girls” singer wearing a dress shirt and black pants and running away from the building before quickly leaping into a Black SUV in waiting. Kingston’s mother jogs behind the artist while yelling at the cameramen to “put that up,” seemingly mocking them for posting about their legal woes.

Sean Kingston and Turner both pleaded not guilty to conspiracy to commit wire fraud and wire fraud charges at the arraignment. They then requested a jury trial, with the discovery process beginning soon after.
Additionally, Sean Kingston, né Kisean Paul Anderson, and his mother are currently being accused of running an elaborate million-dollar fraud scheme. A SWAT team raided his Florida mansion in May, stemming from the allegations, which then resulted in his arrest.

Kingston was initially performing a show before being arrested, brought in, and booked at a San Bernadino jail before being extradited to Florida.
Turner was also arrested during the raid and was being held on a $160,000 bond. Her detainment was partially related to a suit filed against Kingston in February, accusing him of defrauding a local company that installed a 232-inch TV in his mansion.

Anderson was previously serving two years probation for trafficking stolen property until he and his mother were both indicted on charges related to wire fraud, which allegedly raked in $1 million.
According to the United States Attorney’s Office at the Southern District of Florida, federal prosecutors detailed that the duo had “unjustly enriched themselves by falsely representing that they had executed bank wire or other monetary payment transfers as payment for vehicles, jewelry, and other goods.”

Interestingly enough, this wasn’t the first time that Janice Turner was accused of fraud. Flordia’s Local 10 news reports that Turner pleaded guilty to bank fraud in 2006. As a result, she served a year and a half in prison.

Kid ‘N Play Merge the Old And New School with ‘The Funhouse With Kid ‘N Play’ Podcast
*In 1990, Kid ‘N Play took fans to the funhouse with their danceable single and sophomore album of the same name. In 2024, the duo, consisting of Christopher “Kid” Reid and his partner in rhyme, Christopher “Play” Martin, have brought the funhouse back in a current form with their new podcast “The Funhouse With Kid ‘N Play.’
The chart-topping Urban One Podcast outlet brings a star-studded interview style while offering insightful discussions and lively conversations that bridge the gap between the old-school fans and new-school rap music fans, hip-hop followers, and supporters.

For Martin, his latest venture with Reid is one that builds on the legacy the two share on and off the mic.
“Kid and I have a legacy,” he recently told Blavity. “People are probably not aware of the three six degrees of separation of Kid ‘N Play,” he jokingly said regarding the first season’s iconic lineup, including Kid Capri, Chuck D and Roxanne Shante.
“So it’s just calling friends and saying, ‘Hey, you want to have fun?’ Some of these artists are not necessarily known to crack a smile or to joke and laugh. But they have that kind of relationship with us. They know our antics, our vibe, and how organic we are, and it makes them comfortable because they know us. So, it’s a conversation amongst friends,” Martin continued.

Among his favorite moments with their guests, Martin highlighted discovering that rap icon Rakim’s musical prowess as a lyricist was influenced by his ability to compose music and play various instrumentals well as dissecting Doug E. Fresh‘s experience performing in front of younger crowds. For its first episode, Martin and Reid chatted with Naughty by Nature’s Treach about the hitmaker’s friendships with the late Notorious B.I. G. and Tupac Shakur, respectively as well as his respect for Queen Latifah and hanging out with Michael Jackson and Bubbles the Chimp.

While the excitement of talking with longtime friends and colleagues unlocks great conversation, the sentiment is shared with the younger generation in relaying the As excited as the duo is to speak with some of their long-time friends and colleagues, Reid notes the ability to share their knowledge and experiences with a younger generation is just as important.

“I think in this fractured world, especially in the music and hip-hop scenes, the show is an attempt to bridge the gap and show that we’re not that far apart. We’re more aligned than we think,” Reid told Blavity.

“Every artist has a journey, and very rarely is it an overnight thing,” added the entertainer, who hoped that listeners hearing the journeys of their guests would be “informative” and “inspirational.” “We bring a natural curiosity about music first and foremost, and then just life in general. You know, you turn around and realize everybody didn’t make it this far. Many of our great friends, peers, and people we admired have finished their journey. So, I think, while we are still here and enjoying each other’s company, this would be a really interesting way to proceed.”
For future podcasts, listeners can look forward to current artists currently topping the charts as well as producers, politicians and music executives.

The Colorado Buffaloes coach held a team meeting last week, during which he addressed several of his athletes who had children. Sanders announced that he had partnered with Elevations Credit Union to open bank accounts for each of the players’ children.

“By the time the baby is 18, the baby will be straight and have a head start on life,” Sanders said, later adding, “That’s what we need. Imagine if you had 100 grand dumped on you when you were 18…Let’s pave the way; let’s lay it out so the child has an advantage in life.”

Sanders is no stranger to showing up for his players, present and past.  During his tenure at Jackson State, the 57-year-old donated half of his salary to help the school renovate its football facility.
