Hillary Clinton has reached the number of delegates needed to clinch the Democratic nomination for president, The Associated Press reported Monday night, an achievement that would make her the first female nominee of a major party for the presidency.

Mrs. Clinton had been expected to clinch the nomination on Tuesday after polls closed in New Jersey.
But The Associated Press surveyed superdelegates on Monday night, and their reporting showed that Mrs. Clinton had secured the overall support of the required 2,383 delegates, according to a news release.
The call comes after a bruising primary fight against Senator Bernie Sanders of Vermont, who has said he is prepared to stay in the race until the Democratic Party’s convention in late July.
And it comes before voting Tuesday in six states including California, where Mr. Sanders was hoping for an upset victory to extend his campaign.
Speaking at a rally in Long Beach, Calif., on Monday, Mrs. Clinton said that she was still focusing on the primaries on Tuesday. “I got to tell you,” Mrs. Clinton said, “according to the news, we are on the brink of a historic, historic, unprecedented moment, but we still have work to do, don’t we?”
She added: “We have six elections tomorrow, and we’re going to fight hard for every single vote, especially right here in California.”

Michael Briggs, Mr. Sanders’s campaign manager, said in a statement that The A.P.’s ruling was “unfortunate” and “a rush to judgement.”
“Secretary Clinton does not have and will not have the requisite number of pledged delegates to secure the nomination,” Mr. Briggs said. “She will be dependent on superdelegates who do not vote until July 25 and who can change their minds between now and then.”
He added: “Our job from now until the convention is to convince those superdelegates that Bernie is by far the strongest candidate against Donald Trump.”
Mr. Sanders, who had vowed to stay in the race until the convention, said in a news conference on Monday that he “hoped to win” in California, but added, “Let’s assess where we are after tomorrow before we make statements based on speculation.”
Mrs. Clinton won the Puerto Rico primary on Sunday, bringing her closer to the number of pledged delegates required for the nomination.
SADNESS: MMA Fighter Kimbo Slice dies at age 42
Professional mixed martial artist Kimbo Slice died Monday at age 42, Bellator MMA announced.
"We are all shocked and saddened by the devastating and untimely loss of Kimbo Slice, a beloved member of the Bellator family," Bellator president Scott Coker said in a statement, calling Slice "a charismatic, larger-than-life personality that transcended the sport."
Outside of the cage he was a friendly, gentle giant and a devoted family man," Coker said. "His loss leaves us all with extremely heavy hearts, and our thoughts and prayers are with the entire Ferguson family and all of Kimbo's friends, fans, and teammates."
There was no word on the cause of Slice's death.
Slice had been hospitalized earlier Monday in Margate, Florida, for undisclosed reasons, according to Coral Springs police, who had been dispatched to his residence to prevent a potential gathering outside. They said no foul play was suspected.
"We lost our brother today," Slice's longtime manager, Mike Imber, said in a text message to The Associated Press.
Slice, birth name Kevin Ferguson, was a former backyard brawler and Internet sensation. A heavyweight at 6-foot-2, 225 pounds, he had a 5-2 professional record with four TKOs.
Slice is survived by six children, and he credited his MMA career for allowing him to send them to college. One of his three sons, Kevin Ferguson Jr., made his MMA debut in March.

"All women are beautiful, not just black women. Empower beauty in all women, not just your race, #BlackRacist," one user wrote.
His comments sparked a massive debate that saw several fans clash in the comments section, which amassed over 1800 comments.
Eventually, Taraji stepped in to shut down the whole conversation with this stinging rebuke that wouldn't be out of place for her character on Empire.
"#ShutDownDora and go somewhere and be proud of who YOU are. What does celebrating MY BLACK beauty have to do with being a racist? You are ignorant and clueless. Maybe chill on the steroids. It's affecting your small lil pea brain! FOH CHUMP!!!," she wrote.

Nick Cannon Refuses to Sign Mariah Carey Divorce Papers
The drama continues for Mariah Carey and Nick Cannon. The former couple might be separated, but their divorce has yet to be finalized.
That’s because the “Wild ‘N Out” host hasn’t signed the divorce papers, according to TMZ. Cannon filed for divorce from his wife of six years in December 2014.
Around the time of the filing, Nick and Mariah made a property settlement agreement and also agreed to joint custody of their twins, Moroccan and Monroe.
Insiders claim that Cannon won’t sign the docs because he doesn’t want to let go of his ex-wife and because he doesn’t want her to marry her fiancé, billionaire James Packer.
Meanwhile, other sources say that Mariah is frustrated with the matter.
Nick and Mariah got married in 2008. They have two children, Roc and Roe, who are now 5.

Deshauna Barber, a 26-year-old Army officer from the District of Columbia, won the Miss USA crown on Sunday night.
During the annual beauty pageant, which was held at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas, Barber beat out 51 other women for the title. She will go on to compete in the Miss Universe contest later this year.

Barber works as an IT analyst for the U.S. Department of Commerce and is a logistics commander for the 988th Quartermaster Detachment Unit at Fort Meade, Maryland, according to her Miss USA profile.
“As a woman in the United States Army, I think … we are just as tough as men. As a commander of my unit, I’m powerful, I am dedicated,” Barber said when asked about women in combat. “Gender does not limit us in the United States Army.”

Michael J. Fox Shares His Memories Of Muhammad Ali
Following the untimely death of Muhammad Ali, actor Michael J. Fox, who was diagnosed with Parkinson's disease in 1991, shares his memories of the legendary boxer with Rolling Stone Magazine.
Fox, who turns 55 this week, credits his perseverance to Ali who called him in 2000 to discuss the disease. This lead to Fox launching the world's largest non-profit funder of Parkinson's disease research.
"Very quietly, he said, 'I'm sorry you have this [disease], but with you in the fight, we have a better chance of winning,'" Fox recalls.
He goes on to say how he's been a fan of Ali since he was a child, often pretending to be the champ as his little brother would mimic Frazier. In 2000, Fox and Ali filmed a Parkinson's commercial for the Michael J. Fox Fund, and Fox recalls how everyone instantly would gravitate towards the champ.
"I realized that no matter how famous you are, no matter how big a TV star you are – or whatever flimsy kinds of fame I had – you're invisible when you're with Muhammad Ali," said Fox. "You're anonymous. He attracts people like honey attracts bears. People come out of nowhere, to touch him and say hello to him. He was global."
Fox continues, "He was a great boxer, sure, but he was also a great man. He was principled until the end of his days. He made no apologies, no excuses, but he understood kindness and honorability and generosity to people."

According to booking information Columbus Short was arrested on Friday in LA and booked into the Van Nuys County jail where he is currently being held without bond.
