Nicki and Mariah famously clashed as judges on American Idol and now Nicki says the diva is getting her comeuppance.

Nicki’s got no sympathy for Mariah – she saw firsthand what a demanding nightmare she is,” snipes a friend. “She says Mariah completely drove Nick away. She’d yell at him, complain and freal out if he didn’t call her back in minutes.”

Not only is Nicki pleased about the break-up, she’s planning to throw salt on Mariah’s wounds! “Nicki wants to work with Nick on a song together,” says a snitch. “She still hates Mariah with a passion.”

This is getting uglier by the minute…..If true!

*Mariah Carey and Nicki Minaj have decided to part ways with “American Idol.” actually they were fired!

The two divas signed on as rookie judges for the show this past season, but constantly clashed on and off screen.

Carey posted this message on Twitter regarding her departure:

 “W/ global success of #Beautiful (#1 in 30+ countries so far) @MariahCarey confirms world tour & says goodbye 2 Idol,” said a tweet Carey retweeted today from her publicists PMK BNC.

Minaj also confirmed that she’s leaving the Fox singing competition via Twitter on Thursday, sealing the deal with an internet kiss.

“Thank you American Idol for a life changing experience!” Minaj tweeted. “Wouldn’t trade it for the world! Time to focus on the Music!!! Mmmuuuaahhh!!!”

Fox, FremantleMedia and 19 Entertainment called Minaj a “superstar” in a statement regarding her departure, adding, “we wish her the best.”

“Nicki Minaj is a superstar who brought a level of honesty and passion to ‘American Idol and who had a tremendous impact on so many contestants this season,” the statement reads. “Given her extremely busy career, we understand and respect her decision and wish her the best.”

Fox also weighed in on Carey’s decision to move on to greener pastures.

“Mariah Carey is a true global icon – one of the most accomplished artists on the planet – and we feel extremely fortunate that she was able to bring her wisdom and experience to the American Idol contestants this season. We know she will remain an inspiration to Idol hopefuls for many seasons to come,” said Fox and producers FremantleMedia

American Idol TV Ratings Fall + Are Nicki Minaj & Mariah Carey to Blame?

After all of the hype of their (HUGE) salaries and confirmed tension (not to mention a big blow-up argument that was caught on tape) between the new judges of ‘American Idol’, I was sure that Wednesday night, everybody and their mama would be watching for the show’s premiere–after all, it’s the 12th season! But apparently, not so much. The Hollywood Reporter shares that the singing competition’s premiere brought in 17.81 million viewers and a 6.0 rating among adults 18-49. How does that compare to last year? It’s a loss of 19 percent from last January’s premiere.

What’s more? Among total viewers, Fox took a bigger hit than it did between the last two seasons when it dropped 17 percent, but among adults 18-49, the premiere loss last season (25 percent) was greater. Last year’s Idol opener brought 21.9 million and a 7.4 rating. 

So my question to you is, what factors do you think contributed to this premiere’s shortcomings? The bickering and media buzz about Nicki Minaj vs. Mariah Carey feud? Has the show lost it’s steam and excitement after being on air for this long?
