#RHOA: BLOOP! Court Approves Porsha Williams' Request To Film 'RHOA' Inside Home
The court approved Williams' request to film "RHOA" inside the couple's marital home in November.
"That Wife’s temporary sole, and exclusive possession, use, and occupancy of the Marital Residence, includes Wife’s unrestricted right to film and produce television, film or social media or other audiovisual content in and around the Marital Residence," read the court documents obtained by In Touch.

"If necessary, Husband shall execute any and all documents necessary to facilitate Wife’s ability to film and Husband’s release to film, returning any documents received within forty-eight (48) hours. All other issues are reserved for further determination."
Guobadia's lawyer claims that the court contradicted itself by ruling in March that the filming issue would be decided by a judge following a hearing and then approving Williams' request in November without a hearing.

“[Simon] files this Motion to Vacate Order on Filming in Marital Residence and seeks to have this Court vacate its November 19, 2024 Order because the Court failed to conduct a hearing as it previously indicated it would on the issue, the Court did not receive any evidence to support its ruling, and equity demands that this Court vacates the Order," read the documents per In Touch.

Guobadia's attorney also accused Williams of using the reality show to "obtain relief from the Court."
“On one hand [Porsha] wants to use her employment to obtain relief from the Court, but on the other hand she wants to use the Court to avoid providing documentation of her employment to [Simon] to prevent him from preparing a defense against [Porsha’s] claims."

"Furthermore, [Porsha] has been selective about what provisions of the prenuptial agreement she wants this Court to enforce for her benefit and what provisions of the prenuptial agreement she wants this Court to ignore when doing so benefits her."

#HipHopNews: Ice Cube’s Cousin Goes To Legal War With Rapper Yo-Yo
Sir Jinx has once again entered the legal ring, this time leveling a lawsuit at some of the music industry’s biggest players.
The veteran music producer filed a suit against Warner Music Group, Universal Music Group, and Atlantic Recording Corp., alleging they owe him over $60,000 in uncollected royalties from his work on Yo-Yo’s debut album Make Way for the Motherlode.

The core of Sir Jinx’s complaint centers on unpaid compensation for beats he contributed to the 1991 album, which helped establish Yo-Yo as a leading voice in West Coast Hip-Hop.
According to court documents, Sir Jinx claims he notified the parties in September 2019 about the missing $62,090, only to see his grievances ignored.

Adding insult to injury, Sir Jinx says he paid income taxes on the money he expected to receive but never did. The lawsuit accuses the defendants of breach of contract, failing to act in good faith and unjust enrichment.
In addition to financial damages, Sir Jinx, now 54, is seeking an accounting of records to uncover where the royalties went.

With an illustrious career that spans decades, Sir Jinx is best known for his collaborations with Hip-Hop royalty. A cousin of Dr. Dre, Wheaton first emerged as a member of the group C.I.A alongside Ice Cube in the 1980s.
He produced fan-favorite tracks on Ice Cube’s AmeriKKKa’s Most Wanted and Death Certificate, and his work on Kool G Rap’s Live and Let Die showcased his range as a producer.

New Orleans attack updates: Suspect identified as Army veteran, did not act alone

The FBI investigates the area on Orleans St and Bourbon Street by St. Louis Cathedral in the French Quarter where a suspicious package was detonated after a person drove a truck into a crowd earlier on Bourbon Street, Jan. 1, 2025.
An Army veteran who was "hell-bent" on killing as many people as possible drove a rented pickup truck around barricades and plowed his vehicle through a crowd of New Year's revelers on Bourbon Street in New Orleans at a high rate of speed, leaving at least 15 dead and injuring dozens of others early Wednesday, city and federal officials said.

After mowing down numerous people over a three-block stretch on the famed thoroughfare while firing shots into the crowd, the suspect -- identified by sources as Shamsud-Din Jabbar, 42 -- allegedly got out of the truck wielding an assault rifle and opened fire on police officers, law enforcement officials briefed on the incident told ABC News. Officers returned fire, killing Jabbar, a U.S.-born citizen from Texas, sources said. At least two police officers were injured, one by gunfire and the other was hurt when officer was pinned by the truck, authorities said.

Althea Duncan, assistant special agent in charge of FBI New Orleans field office, said investigators do not believe Jabbar acted alone.
"We do not believe that Jabbar was solely responsible," Duncan said during a news conference Wednesday afternoon. "We are aggressively running down every lead, including those of his known associated. That's why we need the public's help. We are asking if anybody had any interaction with Shamsud-Din Jabbar in the last 72 hours that you contact us."

New Orleans police have reviewed surveillance video that appears to show several people planting potential explosive devices in advance of the vehicle attack, which led them to believe he was not "solely responsible," sources said. Investigators are urgently working to identify the individuals who were seen on camera and take them into custody.

Duncan said Jabbar was an Army veteran. In addition to the assault rifle, Jabbar was allegedly armed with a handgun, sources told ABC News.

Rep. Troy Carter, D-Louisiana, told ABC News Wednesday afternoon that the number of people killed in the incident has risen from 10 to 15. He said another 25 people were hospitalized with injuries. During Wednesday's news conference, New Orleans Police Superintendent Anne Kirkpatrick said she could only confirm 10 had died, but she said several people had suffered life-threatening injuries.

On Wednesday afternoon, the FBI in Houston and the Harris County, Texas, Sheriff's Office, posted a message on social media that they are are "currently conducting law enforcement activity near the intersection of Hugh Road and Crescent Peak Drive in north Houston."

"We have secured a perimeter in that area and are asking people to avoid the area," the notice said. "FBI Houston personnel and specialized teams will be on-site for several hours. This activity is related to this morning's New Orleans attack, but due to the ongoing nature of the investigation, no further information can be provided.
Kirkpatrick said security bollards were not working at the time because they were in the process of being replaced for the upcoming Super Bowl. She confirmed that the suspect drove on the sidewalk to get around a police car blocking the intersection.

Duncan said improvised explosives devices (IEDs) and other weapons were found inside the pick truck. She said two additional IEDs were discovered in the French Quarter and rendered safe.
The IEDs found in and around the scene on Bourbon Street were apparently determined to be viable and investigators were looking for more in the city's French Quarter, multiple law enforcement sources tell ABC News. The FBI said two devices were found and rendered safe. Crude pipe bombs stuffed with coils and nails were found at the scene along with a grenade, sources said.

It appears that the truck the suspect rented was spotted in Texas on Tuesday, but it was not clear if the suspect was in the vehicle at the time, according to a source citing preliminary law enforcement information. An ISIS flag was attached to the pickup rear hitch, Duncan said, adding that the FBI is trying to assess the suspect's connection to the terror groups.
The Sugar Bowl between the University of Georgia and Notre Dame has been postponed from Wednesday night to Thursday night, Sugar Bowl CEO Jeff Hundley announced at Wednesday's news conference. The game was set to kickoff Wednesday night at the New Orleans, where police remain focused on securing the French Quarter after the vehicle ramming attack.

Jason Williams, the district attorney of Orleans Parrish, which includes New Orleans, told ABC News that investigators are conducting a grid search to determine if other explosive devices were planted.
New Orleans police and agents from the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobaco, Firearms and Explosives have cordoned a home believed to be an AirBnB in the St. Roch neighborhood about 2 miles from downtown. It was not immediately clear if the suspect is associated with the AirBnB rental.

Michelle Buteau calls out Dave Chappelle for his anti-trans comments
For any comedian, getting a stand-up special on Netflix is already a very big deal. But with her latest comedy special Michelle Buteau: A Buteau-ful Mind at Radio City Music Hall — debuting today, December 31, on Netflix — the titular comic is making the occasion even more momentous by making history as the first female comedian to record a live special at the iconic Radio City Music Hall in New York City.

In her second hourlong comedy special for the streamer, after 2021's Michelle Buteau: Welcome to Buteaupia, the Survival of the Thickest star talks about going viral, raising twins (she shares two children with husband, Dutch photographer Gijs van der Most) and the lows of getting high.
As she navigates topics from marriage to motherhood to marijuana, Buteau makes a point to assure audiences both in theater and at home that she wants them to feel “safe” and “entertained” through her comedy. At one point during her Netflix set, the Babes actress uses her platform to criticize comedian Dave Chappelle, who has become known for his homophobic and transphobic rhetoric in recent years.

“I can’t believe somebody would make millions and millions of dollars for making people feel unsafe. That is so wild to me, truly,” Buteau says in the new special. “I’m manifesting this sh** tonight. This is a Radio City Music Hall takeover, and I’m gonna tell everybody I wanna make millions and millions of dollars for making people feel safe, seen, secure, heard and entertained.”

To watch Michelle Buteau: A Buteau-ful Mind at Radio City Music Hall, you're going to need access to Netflix. Current subscription plans include "Standard with ads" for $6.99 per month, the commercial-free "Standard" option for $15.49 per month, and the "Premium" plan for $22.99. Buteau's comedy special is the latest in Netflix's ever-growing comedy slate: 2024 saw the release of nearly 40 stand-up specials including Ali Wong: Single Lady, Ronny Chieng: Love to Hate It, Hasan Minhaj: Off with His Head and Rachel Bloom: Death, Let Me Do My Special.

Michael Blackson Fires Back at Katt Williams, Calling Him a ‘Lying Leprechaun’
One year after Katt Williams made headlines with his blistering critique of fellow comedians on The Club Shay Shay podcast, the drama continues to unfold. This time, comedian Michael Blackson has fired back, labeling Katt as a “lying leprechaun.”
Blackson’s sharp retort came in response to Williams’ scathing remarks, which initially stirred controversy and divided fans and peers alike. The delayed response from Blackson suggests that tensions within the comedy world remain high, as public feuds and personal jabs take center stage.

Diddy Reportedly Suffers Meltdown After Spending The Holidays Behind Bars

Diddy is reportedly struggling to cope with his circumstances behind bars as he faces serious charges of sex trafficking and racketeering. According to reports from The Daily Mail, the music mogul experienced a significant breakdown after realizing he wouldn’t be released on bond in time to spend the holidays with his family. Diddy, currently being held at the Metropolitan Detention Center in Brooklyn, allegedly believed his high-profile legal team would secure his release before the holiday season.

“With his high-powered legal team, Diddy thought he’d be out on bail by now. Spending the holidays behind bars was a nightmare for him,” an insider shared. To regain his composure, Diddy reportedly turned to meditation techniques. “It took him a few hours of deep breathing and focusing to get out of the bad space he was in, but he finally managed it,” the source added. However, conflicting reports suggest otherwise, with another source stating that Diddy remains resilient, saying he is “staying strong in jail.”

Since the federal investigation began, Diddy has continued to assert his innocence. His attorney, Erica Wolff, recently emphasized his faith in the judicial system amidst growing allegations. “Mr. Combs has full confidence in the facts and the integrity of the judicial process,” Wolff told the BBC. “In court, the truth will prevail: That Mr. Combs never sexually assaulted or trafficked anyone—man or woman, adult or minor.”
The accusations have only intensified in recent weeks. In a shocking development, an anonymous woman alleged that both Diddy and Jay-Z sexually assaulted her at an afterparty in 2000, when she was just 13 years old. Attorney Tony Buzbee brought forth the claims on her behalf, though both Diddy and Jay-Z have categorically denied the allegations.

As Diddy awaits his day in court, the weight of these allegations and his ongoing detainment have cast a shadow over his once-glittering career, leaving fans and the industry closely watching for further developments.

Roy Wood Jr. Refuses Tequila Shot During CNN New Year's Broadcast
A seemingly lighthearted moment during CNN‘s New Year’s Eve celebration transformed into a powerful commentary about representation in mainstream media when comedian Roy Wood Jr. declined a celebratory drink, citing concerns about job security.
As revelers worldwide celebrated the arrival of 2024, CNN’s traditional New Year’s Eve broadcast took an unexpected turn. While cohost Andy Cohen distributed tequila shots to the evening’s guests, Wood made a calculated choice that resonated deeply with viewers familiar with the network’s recent history.

His water-only stance carried extra weight given the events of 2023, particularly the dismissal of veteran anchor Don Lemon. The moment crystallized ongoing discussions about professional stability and representation in national media outlets.

Navigating the complex media landscape
Wood’s strategic decision highlighted the delicate balance professionals — particularly Black professionals — must maintain while working in mainstream media. His choice demonstrated an acute awareness of industry dynamics and the often-precarious nature of visibility in national broadcasting.
The incident sparked conversations about the broader implications for media professionals navigating corporate environments. It underscored the need for thoughtful consideration of every action — even during celebratory moments — when building and maintaining a career in broadcast journalism.

Evolution of media platforms and voices
The changing media landscape offers new opportunities for professionals to maintain their influence and connect with audiences. Following his departure from CNN, Lemon exemplified this shift by launching his own digital platform, “The Don Lemon Show,” demonstrating the growing viability of independent media ventures.

This transformation reflects broader changes in how information reaches audiences, with digital platforms increasingly becoming legitimate alternatives to traditional broadcasting. The shift enables media personalities to maintain their authentic voices while building direct relationships with their audiences.

A moment that matters
Wood’s decision transcended simple drink refusal; it became a master class in using subtle commentary to address substantial issues. His choice demonstrated how professionals can navigate complex workplace dynamics while maintaining their integrity and awareness of larger industry contexts.

As conversations about representation in media continue evolving, moments like these serve as catalysts for deeper discussions about workplace dynamics, professional development and the importance of strategic decision-making in building lasting careers in mainstream media.
The incident highlights ongoing changes in the media landscape, where professionals must balance authentic expression with career longevity. It also demonstrates how seemingly casual moments can spark meaningful dialogue about representation and professional stability in national media.

Diplo Admits To Taking LSD During CNN's New Year's Eve Live Event
During CNN's "New Year's Eve Live" broadcast, renowned DJ and producer Diplo made a surprising admission: he was tripping on LSD.
When co-host Andy Cohen asked Diplo, "What is the most conventional place you've done LSD?", Diplo replied with a laugh, "Right now. I did some on the helicopter, on the way here." Though he appeared nonchalant, Diplo quickly added, "I'm not even lying."

Cohen's co-host Anderson Cooper erupted in laughter while a stunned Cohen asked, "You're tripping right now?" Diplo nonchalantly responded, "Yeah, but it's like a light trip," adding that he was "microdosing" but may have "macrodosed" earlier in the day.
"I wish I was Diplo," Cooper responded. "I just think he has a fun, cool lifestyle. Can you imagine his lifestyle? 'I'm Diplo. I do things.' " Cohen then asked Cooper if he followed Diplo on Instagram, and Cooper, who wasn't yet a follower, said he now felt compelled to start.

"I'm absolutely going to start. I mean … I feel bad about my own boring life compared to Diplo's," Cooper said. "He's got helicopters and he's like doing things. He did like four shots while we were talking."
The clip of this exchange quickly went viral, with reactions ranging from amusement to amazement. One commented, "Never seen someone so controlled on LSD," and another adding, "Nice to see someone tell the truth on CNN."

Despite his on-air admission, Diplo didn't miss a beat and later performed at Avalon Hollywood in Los Angeles to ring in the New Year. His unconventional revelation provided an unexpected highlight to the night's broadcast, cementing his reputation for keeping things interesting both on and off the stage.
However, it's not all fun and games for Diplo. The DJ faces serious allegations in a lawsuit filed in summer 2024. According to the suit, this isn't the first time Diplo has encountered such allegations. His lawyer has dismissed these claims as baseless shakedown attempts, and the DJ continues to navigate both the high points and controversies of his career.

Céline Dion Thanks Fans for ‘Unwavering Support’ as She Looks Forward to ‘Endless Possibilities’ in 2025
Céline Dion wrote a heartfelt note for the year 2024 and looked forward to “endless possibilities in the coming year.”
In a Tuesday, Dec. 31 Instagram post, the French singer thanked fans for their support in 2024 — and said she looks forward to the year ahead.
“As we wrap up another year together, I want to take a moment to express my heartfelt thanks for your unwavering support,” Dion, 56, began, alongside a photo of her side profile, as she looks up and holds prayer hands.

“Your love and energy inspire me every day. I wish you all a joyful holiday season filled with warmth, laughter, and cherished moments with loved ones,” she continued. “Here’s to endless possibilities in the coming year. Wishing you a safe holiday and a fabulous New Year!”
This year, Dion returned to the stage for the first time since revealing her stiff-person syndrome diagnosis in 2022. Her comeback show took place at the 2024 Paris Olympics Opening Ceremony in July, where she performed Edith Piaf’s classic “Hymne A L’Amour.” She released a live version of the song in October.

“I’m honored to have performed tonight, for the Paris 2024 Opening Ceremony, and so full of joy to be back in one of my very favorite cities,” Dion wrote on Instagram at the time. “Most of all, I’m so happy to be celebrating these amazing athletes, with all their stories of sacrifice and determination, pain and perseverance.”
She added, “All of you have been so focused on your dream, and whether or not you take home a medal, I hope that being here means that it has come true for you! You should all be so proud, we know how hard you have worked to be the best of the best. Stay focused, keep going, my heart is with you!”

Then, in November, Dion hit the stage in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia to perform at the 1001 Seasons of Elie Saab fashion show in celebration of the Lebanese designer’s 45-year fashion career.

The “My Heart Will Go On” singer closed out the ceremony with her 1993 hit “The Power of Love” and 2002’s “I’m Alive.”
In addition to her comeback performances, Dion appeared in an NFL video promoting Sunday Night’s football game featuring the Dallas Cowboys vs. the Pittsburgh Steelers in October.

During an interview with PEOPLE in June, Dion opened up about how her treatment plan is “making such a difference” and she has “a wonderful coach vocally.”
“We’re talking about putting a show together, and I have so many ideas. I can’t wait,” Dion said at the time.
“If I would have just stayed secretly behind, my home would have become a prison, and I would have become a prisoner of my own life,” she added. “Today, I live one day at a time. The fact that I found the strength to communicate my condition with the world makes me very proud. Maybe my purpose in this life is to help others, and that is the greatest gift.”

‘Squid Game’ Season 2 Debuts WIth Historic 68M Views in First Week

The second season of Squid Game made Netflix history this week.
The highly anticipated seven-episode second season, which launched on December 26, raked in 68M views in its first three days on the streamer. It was No. 1 on the weekly non-English TV list in 92 countries, Netflix says.

That made it not only the most-watched series of the week, but the best performing title overall — even beating out some hefty competition with Netflix’s flashy Christmas Day NFL games featuring a performance from Beyoncé. Granted, those are not available to watch delayed, so 30M+ live viewers is very impressive.
Squid Game Season 2 has now broken Netflix’s record for most views for a series in its premiere week, which was previously set by Wednesday with 50.1M views.

In fact, in just three days, the second season has already broken onto Netflix’s most popular non-English TV show list at No. 7. It shot past Dear Child, All of Us Are Dead, Berlin Season 1 and Who Killed Sara? Season 1 for the honor.
Squid Game Season 1 also re-entered the weekly non-English TV list at No. 3 with 8.10M views.
At this rate, it’s on a stunning trajectory that could result in Season 2 surpassing its predecessor as Netflix’s biggest title of all time. It’s got more than 80 days to put up another 197M views.

It’s been more than three years since the first season exploded onto the scene, quickly becoming a global phenomenon, reaching 111 million accounts to become Netflix’s first series to surpass 100 million members at launch.
Squid Game is now Netflix’s most-watched series of all time with 265M views in its first 91 days. It has withstood many rivals over the past several years, including Stranger Things and Wednesday. The latter put up a fight with 252M views in that time frame but fell short of beating out the Korean series.

That certainly puts some pressure on Season 2 to perform well, despite the lengthy hiatus, prompting a massive global campaign to reignite interest in the series.
In order to deliver these monster numbers, Netflix held activations across 1 countries from Brazil to Italy to Indonesia, which Deadline can exclusively reveal gathered 6M online and 52,000 in-person fans. Nearly 37,000 people participated in races, mazes, games and more inspired by Squid Game.

For example, Netflix unveiled the Season 2 teaser at Lucca Comics & Games 2024 in Lucca, Italy, after creator, writer and director Hwang Dong-hyuk and stars Lee Jung-jae and Wi Ha-jun hosted a sold out Q&A in Piazza San Michele. In Paris, fans were challenged to a game of Red Light, Green Light on the Champs-Élysées.

Netflix held the Season 2 world premiere at Seoul’s Dongdaemun Design Plaza with about 1,000 guests in attendance and more than 300,000 watching via livestream.
Those fan activations managed to drive a whopping 3B impressions across Netflix’s social channels ahead of the Season 2 premiere, which the streamer says surpasses Season 1’s lifetime social impressions. It’s Netflix’s biggest campaign to date — ahead of Stranger Things 4, Bridgerton Season 3, Wednesday and One Piece.

Beyoncé Wins Legal Battle To Trademark Daughter Blue Ivy’s Name After 12-Year Fight
Beyoncé has officially won the legal battle to trademark her daughter Blue Ivy’s name!
Reports confirm that the songstress has been granted the legal right to protect and profit from the trademark, following a dispute with a wedding planner and then a Wisconsin boutique.

Beyoncé first filed for the trademark in 2012, shortly after Blue Ivy was born, but faced opposition from wedding planner Veronica Morales, who ran a business called “Blue Ivy Events.”
In 2020, a tribunal took place and the USPTO rejected Morales’ complaints and ruled the two names were not similar enough.
Despite this win, it’s reported that the application was abandoned as Beyoncé’s legal team didn’t follow up on the trademark process. Fast forward to November 2023, and the Carter family tried again but, unfortunately, hit another wall because a Wisconsin boutique owned the Blue Ivy logo.

The examiner argued that Blue Ivy Carter’s name was too “confusingly similar” to the store. However, the boutique never refuted the application, ultimately helping Beyoncé secure the trademark.
Blue Ivy, now 12, is one of the most famous children in the world, with numerous accolades, including being named the “New Princess of Pop” by Rolling Stone and starring in Disney’s new live-action Mufasa movie.

The trademark was officially published in The Trademark Official Gazette on December 31, 2024, with the opportunity for others to oppose it by January 30, 2025. This victory gives Beyoncé and her hubby Jay-Z the legal rights to protect their daughter’s name from being used commercially by others, which Jay-Z expressed concern over back in 2013.

Congratulations to the Carter family!

Big Lots Strikes Deal to Save Hundreds of Jobs After Bankruptcy

*Discount retailer Big Lots has secured a deal with Gordon Brothers Retail Partners to rescue hundreds of its stores and safeguard thousands of jobs following its Chapter 11 bankruptcy filing in September.

According to Newsweek, the agreement allows Variety Wholesalers to acquire between 200 and 400 stores and up to two distribution centers, ensuring the Big Lots brand continues its 37-year presence nationwide. This development averts the planned closure of all 963 stores and prevents layoffs for thousands of workers, including 555 corporate employees and 505 Pennsylvania staff previously set to lose their jobs in early 2025.

“The strategic sale to Gordon Brothers and the transfer to Variety Wholesalers is a favorable and significant achievement for Big Lots that reflects the tireless work and collective effort of our team,” said Bruce Thorn, Big Lots’ president and CEO in a statement to Newsweek. “This sale agreement and transfer present the strongest opportunity to preserve jobs, maximize value for the estate and ensure continuity of the Big Lots brand.”

The deal represents a significant lifeline for the Ohio-based company, preserving retail operations across multiple states.
“We are pleased to reach this strategic agreement with Big Lots and partner with Variety Wholesalers to achieve a path forward that allows Big Lots to continue to serve customers with extreme bargains and an outstanding shopping experience,” said Rick Edwards, Gordon Brothers Retail Partners’ head of North America retail.

The retailer’s financial struggles included a $205 million net loss in the first quarter of 2024 and substantial long-term debt, reflecting broader economic challenges like high inflation and rising interest rates. Big Lots’ bankruptcy is part of a larger trend in the retail sector, with other companies, such as Party City, also filing for bankruptcy this year.

Before the new agreement, Big Lots had planned to close nearly 500 stores, with California being hit the hardest, accounting for 75 closures out of 109 locations in the state. Big Lots employs approximately 27,000 people, but it remains unclear how many of these jobs will transition to Variety Wholesalers under the new arrangement.

Newsweek reports that other closing conditions must also be met for the rescue deal to be approved by the bankruptcy court.
Lisa Seigies, Variety Wholesalers’ president and CEO said: “We are excited to partner with Gordon Brothers to provide a path forward for the Big Lots brand and hundreds of its stores. We look forward to working with members of the Big Lots team to realize the exciting opportunities ahead.”

The woman, who filed the lawsuit as Jane Doe per court documents by Us Weekly, said that in January 2023 she was called to Marvin Gaye III’s home, which he shared at the time with his then-wife, Wendy.

She said she wanted to help in “diffusing the situation” when things
“escalated into a series of violent and threatening acts perpetrated by [Gaye] including physical assault, verbal threats of death and the retrieval of a firearm, which he pointed at [the alleged victim] and his wife, while threatening their lives.”
She alleged that during the dispute Marvin Gaye III grabbed her arms, stepped on her foot and kicked her before aiming a g*n at her and Wendy and threatening to “k*ll them.”

He then allegedly intentionally confined her in a guestroom by physically blocking her exit and threatening harm. She alleged his “dangerous” acts were extreme, outrageous and beyond the bounds of decency. Jane Doe also accuses Marvin III of carrying out “acts of intimidation,” such as tampering with [her] vehicle by cutting the brakes and arranging for his associates to surveil [her] home. She said she suffered panic attacks, insomnia, and lost 24-30 pounds due to the alleged encounter. She also hired security due to  constant fear” of her and her family and friends’ safety.

She’s suing for an undisclosed amount.
Marvin III has denied the claims, alleging that he’s being extorted. He said in a statement that he didn’t even know about the lawsuit. He added:
“No way did that happen. It’s all bulls—. I wouldn’t do that. These are false claims.”

Police Identify Woman Burned Alive in Horrific NYC Subway Attack

*A shocking tragedy unfolded in a New York City subway when a 61-year-old woman was burned alive in a brutal and senseless attack on December 22.
Debrina Kawam of Toms River, NJ, has been identified as the victim of a horrifying attack, CNN reports. Witnesses reported that she was asleep when 33-year-old Sebastian Zapeta-Calil, an illegal immigrant, poured lighter fluid on her and set her on fire. Instead of extinguishing the flames, Zapeta-Calil reportedly used a shirt to fan them, worsening the situation.

Last week, the Guatemalan citizen was indicted on multiple charges, including murder and arson. Authorities say he set Kawam on fire while she was asleep on a stationary F train at the Stillwell Avenue Subway Station. She was pronounced dead at the scene.
Zapeta-Calil, who snuck back into the US after being deported in 2018, faces one count of first-degree murder, three counts of second-degree murder, and one count of first-degree arson. He will be arraigned on January 7, NBC News reports.

The first-degree murder charge carries the possibility of life without parole.
Zapeta-Calil, who was living in shelters across NYC, was arrested by the NYPD at a Manhattan subway station shortly after carrying out the horrific killing. He told cops he was too drunk to remember setting the woman ablaze, the aftermath of which was captured on bystander video. According to his shelter roommate, Zapeta-Calil “bugged out” after smoking K2 and drinking heavily before the arson attack.

“The depravity of this horrific crime is beyond comprehension, and my office is committed to bringing the perpetrator to justice,” Brooklyn District Attorney Eric Gonzalez said in a statement.
“This gruesome and senseless act of violence against a vulnerable woman will be met with the most serious consequences,” Gonzalez added. “Every New Yorker deserves to feel safe on our subways and we will do everything in our power to ensure accountability in this case.”

In a statement, New York Mayor Eric Adams said of the victim, “She had a brief stint in our homeless shelter system, our shelter system. And your heart goes out to the family.”
Adams called it a “Horrific incident to have to live through.”
“Watching that tape, I couldn’t even watch it all the way through. Just a bad incident, and it impacts on how New Yorkers feel,” Adams said. “It really reinforces what I’ve been saying, people should not be living on our subway system, they should be in a place of care. And no matter where she lived, that should not have happened.”

There seems to be some confusion regarding Kawam’s age, with some reports listing her as 61 while others state she was 57.
The mayor’s office is reportedly pushing for additional federal charges against Zapeta-Calil.
“Lighting another human being on fire and watching them burn alive reflects a level of evil that cannot be tolerated,” the office said in a statement.
